PPPPPPPLLLLEEEEEEEAAAAASE YOU GOTTA YOU GOTTA PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! ....i say on my "secret" blog for similar reasons. but i swear if i didn't have family and bosses and coworkers and friends who Work With These Characters And Have Offered Me Previous Job Opportunities Involving Them following me, i would be spreading the word of Dafpork on every single account as loudly as i can. and even then i've sort of let my mask slip on main as i try to internalize "you stumbled upon this yourself, you're looking at a previously established exhibit rather than me putting on an exhibit that caters to you, specifically."

BUT I KNOW HOW IT FEELS SOOOO MUCH. LIKE. UNBELIEVABLY. I GET YOU. again i didn't invent this ship, but i would definitely consider myself the CEO since. Dafpork is my term! my friend and i came up with it! i wrote the very first traceable Dafpork fic online! BUT I SAY THAT BECAUSE I GET IT, i felt like literally nobody other than myself and my friend shipped them and i just kept so so so much between us. and even when i saw people drawing more stuff/using the term, i didn't feel like i could come out and reblog or interact or be like "YES!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" for the reasons above.. and i'm sure just internalized issues as well

BUT THAT'S WHY YOU GOTTA. PLEASE. if you have the opportunity to be loud and proud about it please do. i know my own reasoning for my privacy is kind of bogus because like, even if i work in animation, who cares right. but i still don't feel like explaining to WB recruiters why i drew the pig and duck kissing. which again i know it doesn't really matter but it's a whole convoluted thing about personal safety. so this is why i'm such an advocate for people to be loud in my stead. i don't know you obviously and you could have a bunch of personal reasons too for preventing you from doing such, but like.. my circumstances for privacy are very very very specific to me. i imagine you probably have more freedom and anonymity than me in that regard, so... PLEASE!!!!!!

ALSO. LIKE. BEYOND ALL THAT. WE ARE SO SMALL. we need all the support we can get please i am dying for more people to interact and share and love this ship. it means so much to me. that i kinda have to sequester myself off genuinely upsets me sometimes so if you have the freedom to interact PLEASE DO.. ANON i thought i was gonna have an eloquent response for you but it all just went out the window because i hate the idea of someone having to go through what i do and also PLEASE I WILL GET ON MY KNEES AND BEG YOU TO INTERACT. IT'S SO WORTH IT. TRUST ME. i'm sad about the circumstances that lead to me having this blog, but it's also been so so so great for my mental health as someone who doesn't really get to have any privacy on the internet. it's so freeing. make a separate dafpork blog just for your dafpork antics. it's so worth it

i'm also genuinely curious to hear what's stopping you--no pressure obviously, sometimes "i don't wanna" is a valid excuse! and again i know my situation is weirdly hypocritical, it probably doesn't matter as much as i think it does but it also does and etc etc. beyond that, i'd be so loud and obnoxious about these guys, so i'm curious to hear what the hang-up is--is it because it's unpopular? isn't the widely accepted ship? just internalized feelings (Porky and Daffy got me to stop hating myself for being a lesbian and ruining a relationship bc of internalized homophobia so as silly as it may sound for me to bring up i genuinely get it)?

scoundrel?? what scoundrel???? the magnificent mr cards (who ironically has more of a flower aesthetic going on) is completely unrelated to any "bandaged scoundrels" running around the neath. in fact it's never heard of the word scoundrel ever in its entire definitely long definitely ancient life. but yknow, hypothetically, if it did know the scoundrel, it's confident that they're really really really handsome and cool and epic and they're almost just as amazing as it is and you should totally donate all your valuables to them and stuff

god the prophecy is nuts. losing my mind that we have it, that it's so goddamn excellent, one of her best songs of all time truly. but also how it carries the thread from The Archer to Mirrorball to Dear Reader to The Prophecy over the past few years. to go from a career of being our wise, young bard of love and romance, self assured in her convictions and what love looks like and feels like and what lovers owe each other and the love she deserves... to the slow unraveling of oh god, is it me? is it my fault? do i know who i am or am I just an amalgamation of my lovers' ideas of me? do i know how to love and be loved and how to be? do i even deserve it? do i have control of any of it at all? from knowing everything when she was young to a steady stream, growing louder as the years pass, of maybe I don't know. i honestly can't stop thinking about the world-building and the potential of the wreck-it ralph universe. like specifically when it comes to the tobikomi games and the company and all that.

like the thought of sequels and console spinoffs and revivals/remakes and weird possible legal limbos for the games and characters. weird games on the gba and ps2 made by other companies after tobikomi died/got bought out. taito legends/namco museum type game with all the retro arcade games in one place.

the implication of hero's duty being made by a company connected to tobikomi, but that studio being called wreck-it studios which could have so many implications for the fix-it felix jr franchise and ralph as a mascot character. but that game also being SO different from the tobikomi games. (like a reverse of insomniac games going from doom clones to spyro the dragon.)

also just the numerous forum and reddit and tumblr posts about that "weird king candy character" in this one specific sugar rush game that people SWEAR by, there's shitty videos of him and everything. the 6 hour video essays debating if it's lost media or a large scale hoax, and it's not like tobikomi is around to be asked anymore. then the pinned comments, the top rated comments, mentioning how that same sugar rush cabinet is at the same arcade where that "weird roadblasters thing" happened in the 80s.

oh to be dan and phil, able to just load up literally any form of social media that exists, search for you and your forever soulmates’ ship name and see thousands of edits of the two of you being happy and in love whenever you want. how special that must feel for real 😭

Saw this photo floating around and it is…SENDING ME. In multiple ways. So I’m going to ramble.

Ok first off - this is like, quintessential mid-00s teen heart throb photo shoot. Literally erase Pete’s tattoos and photoshop on a head of any popular male celebrity at the time and it would honestly work. This was The Template.

I think it’s easy to either forget (or just not realize) how TRULY big the FOB/“emo” hype train was back then. Cosmo Girl, Tiger Beat, and countless other magazines that solely focused on HUGE celebrities like Beyonce and Justin Timberlake and Lindsay Lohan were suddenly putting FOB, MCR, and Panic on their covers (although, let’s be real, usually just one or two members - i.e. Pete, Gerard, Brendon, Ryan).

There are…slightly less boundaries now with stuff like this because of the saturation of social media making “normal people” famous, but, back then, that was almost unheard of. You’d only see pictures of these bands in like, ALT Press or Kerrang. For them to get lumped into the same category as these A listers was absolutely bonkers.

So to see this picture of Pete…it kinda makes me laugh tbh, but it also makes me sad. Because that didn’t…FIT him. It looks ridiculous. It’s not an authentic picture of him- it’s him being placed into a mold. Him accepting “The Template” because that’s where he was expected to go. Which makes it…not at all surprising that he was only able to keep that up for so long before it fell apart.

It reminds me of that part in the Zane Lowe interview where they’re talking about this time of their career. Like, just go watch from min 35-42 because it’s fantastic but some highlights:

Zane acknowledging how easy it is to fall down the rabbit hole, especially when you’re thrust into it so quickly - it’s not really a choice. Patrick seconds this later by saying that once that fame light is on, it’s on, and you don’t really have a way to turn it off

Pete acknowledging how it kept him from being a “real person,” how little he liked it, and how much he had to grow during the hiatus to get away from that

Patrick saying how you really can’t win - you either accept the attention and you’re hated for it or you reject the attention and you’re hated for it. And this was ESPECIALLY true then. The media is still brutal but it was absolutely HORRENDOUS at that time. You really had to be “on” 24/7 and that’s…impossible.

Talking about how that level of fame creates a wall around you that is not only difficult for others to penetrate, but also yourself. And if Pete can’t access himself, he can’t access what he can give Patrick to create around, which then makes everything crumble like a house of cards.

I give FOB so much credit for realizing that, if they didn’t take a break, they would’ve ended VERY poorly and likely forever. Look how a lot of careers ended from that time. Either not well or a fade into irrelevance because of just trying to “keep up” and failing. Because, at that point, you’ve lost a lot of your “real person-ness” and, if you’ve lost that, what authenticity can you bring to your work? And if you’re BUILT on authenticity (which FOB is), then what is there to put out that is meaningful and relevant to your art?

Part of FOB’s magic has always been their authenticity and that they really are just “some guys.” That is what has allowed them to be so innovative and grow as artists and as people because there is a constant striving to push themselves and still remain grounded in who they are at their core. Pre-h, they didn’t know how to do that yet, and it was hell.

Pictures like this honestly just remind me of how deep in the hole the pressures of fame at that time did to not only them as a band, but Pete himself. Like, look at this picture. Does he look…genuine? Happy? Does this look like the Pete Wentz you know and love? Of course it may on the surface, but if you really look at it…to me it looks more like a caricature. The clothes, the pose, the styled hair and eyeliner…it just looks off. It’s Pete Wentz through a lens meant to appeal to the masses.

These lyrics from So Good Right Now feel extremely relevant to this time:

I am endlessly grateful that…regardless of the other reasons and intense drama around it…they recognized that need to step back from…all of this. That they didn’t let themselves just get covered by the weeds. Chewed up and spit back out like so many others. And so many years later we are still getting incredible, meaningful music from them. Like, it truly just keeps getting better. You can’t say that about…A LOT of people/bands who have been making music for this long.
