Personally I don't think it's right to boil down simple friendship failures to 'commodification'. There are so, so many reasons why 'simple' actions aren't taken and it's not always for lack of trying. It's one thing if a person is consistently evasive and refuses to address that, but you can't just expect someone to make personal sacrifices on a dime if they cannot meet a person's needs that way

sure. there are tons of reasons and different ones apply to all of us. which just makes it even more important to not define friendship as a long series of perfectly equal transactions (which i think is fair to refer to as commodification). we can't all help each other in the same ways or at the same times. that's kind of what i was getting at (or at least trying to).

I think it's a bit odd when people expect Yakuza characters to be like the most morally amazing goody two shoes people ever and I'm just like you know most of the characters are Yakuza or Yakuza adjacent right? Like most of them are literal criminals. Like Oh Mirei isn't perfect? Have you met her ex-husband the yakuza? He's done worse. Pretty sure the only properly morally good characters are Kiryu's kids and grandson.

I don't know, Haruto def seemed a little suspicious... Kidding, kidding. But yeah I get what you mean, I definitely do- especially with regards to Mirei! It's not like she was innocent by any means but there's easily worse actions in the series for sure... At the end of the day it is just a fictional series of interesting characters who have almost all done good, bad and somewhere inbetween things, that's part of why they're so fun and compelling to play as and watch!

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

people are drawing Steamboat Willie Mickey doing all this crazy shit and whatnot, but you could always do that. you can do that now, with current Mickey, just fine. it's fanart and it's legally protected. hell you could take Disney-drawn Mickey and put a caption about unions or whatever on it and it would still be protected under free speech and sometimes even parody law.

what is special about public domain is that you can SELL him. you could take a screenshot and sell it on a tshirt. you can use him to advertise your plumbing business. people have already uploaded and monetized the original film.
