This was the last warm Sunday

Today was the last warm weekend of the year and we enjoyed it as much as we possibly could. Who knows what the coming winter will have in store for us.

10/1/2023

There’s apparently a “heat dome” happening in Chi right now and I’m enjoying it. The warm weather has been such a beautiful blessing and I’m realizing that I prefer it immensely now more than ever.

We walked along the lake today and took in the amazing weather with a sense of melancholy in our hearts. I get the sense that more and more changes are headed our way, and this winter will be an interesting one.

I don’t know if my job is coming with me to untether. So far, it seems like it can fit into my life logistically as we untether (because I was going with or without it).

But I don’t know why I have the feeling that it might not be coming with me.

I’m sure this next 1.5 years will reveal everything to me.

#only semi-explanations i can think of are:#1. it isn't their house and it just so happens that they took multiple photos that they then posted in the same non-phouse location #(likely family's house if this is the case cause when else would they be this relaxed at someone else's house/whatever other place lol)#2. this is one of the “secret safe rooms” dan alluded to in.. A funeral for my past self

Dreamt about my funeral and watched as my old life was symbolically examined and tossed away

10/1/2023

In this dream I rode a motorcycle on I5 and ended up losing control and jumped off as it careened into a large, water filled ditch in the grass valley between the northbound and southbound lanes.

The motorcycle was on fire and upside down, completely done for. It had on it some compartments full of my stuff.

There were people from my old WA life that were on the I5 journey as well, and they stopped to examine the wreckage. Some even began to take the wreck apart to examine what it was. I sat there as my motorcycle and belongings were attempted to be fished out. The attempt was dropped as it proved impossible.

My motorcycle was apparently a living thing, and as someone was cutting it apart, it showed bones and bled. The resulting mess of puddle in the ditch (which was so big that no one could really get into it) was a mixture of bone, blood, gasoline, metal, and my old belongings.

These people felt like strangers to me. They were friends and family, but they seemed concerned only because it was the appropriate thing to be, and not necessarily because either understood completely the gravity of the devastation happening before me. Maybe some understood more than others, but it was still more of a spectacle.

I came to understand that the “body” of the motorcycle was actually me. I was dead in the ditch, and I was watching as everyone tried to make sense of what was all there.

The old clothes in the ditch were from many eras and even harked back to high school (purple hoodie) and dog clothes for Sunny. I felt embarrassed, because my old life was being rummaged through by people who might not fully understand what they were seeing.

In a way I was both a living person watching this funeral with others (because some of the people there still acknowledged my presence) while I was also invisible to others there.

I said very little during this funeral. It was as if I didn’t want to draw attention to myself, and would rather slip into the shadows so that I wouldn’t have to hear any judgments people might make about my belongings or my old life.

Strangely enough, there was a chef there who tried to add seasoning and vegetables to the mix to make it into a stew. The dream shifted to the point where I was with my family, and my mom was specifically tasting the stew and while she wasn’t the biggest fan of it, she was able to get some down. After I told her what was in the stew, to my surprise she did not freak out, but rather deemed that maybe that’s why it tasted “metal-y” and “gasoline-y.” This surprised me because I thought she would’ve been completely appalled.

The dream shifted back to the ditch, which was now becoming faint, like a memory. The people had all left and I began coming to terms with the idea that my old life was gone, and from here on out I would begin new.

The fact that so many people don't like Khaos Reigns is CRAZY to me.

I watched that shit for the first time last night (after putting it off because I thought it was gonna be trash) and my God... That DLC had some of the most powerful imagery I've seen in a recent MK game. 🐉🔥

Some of my favorite parts included:

The Tanya and Orin Scene (Empress Tanya was just chef's kiss)

The Kolosseum Maze with all the traps

Cyrax and Sektor in general were just... SOOO GOOD!!! NRS ATEEE!!!

Sekhan is fucking cute and I will forever stand by that

Mileena's new Empress outfit?! Um YES!

Kuai Liang being an absolute dick for most of the DLC lol 😆

HARUMI!!! WITH A SWORD!!!

Kudos to Netherrealm frfr! They were really giving their girlies some screentime in this DLC and as a female MK fan I really appreciate it :)

I also took an ungodly amount of screenshots (unsurprisingly most are of Sektor)... Which I am now making you guys' problem hehe
