Finished out the “We’re not really strangers” card game

We love each other so much and I feel so much gratitude for having such an amazing relationship with such an incredible person

For the third night in a row, we finished up the third deck of the “we’re not really strangers” card game.

The third deck was considered the “deepest level” of questions, which was pretty accurate.

There were some really great questions that prompted us to explicitly explore what we mean to one another, how we see each other, and how we see our relationship.

Some powerful insights:

I realize that we would make great parents together. Our partnership has grown into such a strong and balanced bond that any child brought up in it would feel an incredible amount of unconditional love and support.

For the longest time, I dismissed the idea completely because 1, we have no desire to raise children and 2, we both had negative self-talk for the longest time (ie, “I’d be a terrible parent – I can barely take care of myself”).

It felt surprisingly loving to realize today that we both believed we would make great parents. It’s a testament to how much we’ve grown individually and together – and how much we’ve become the parents we would’ve wanted for our inner child.

Another powerful insight was the understanding of how we coordinate one of our greatest strengths (which can also be our greatest weakness).

Aprille tends to have a more lateral focus, while my focus tends to be narrow and longitudinal. This lead to many clashes in the past because we were both frustrated with how the other was going what could appear to be “the opposite direction” or “against the grain.”

We have since grown to really value how the other partner focuses their attention, and have been able to both lean on and adopt one another’s focus styles as appropriate.

Life now feels like a team effort, or team experience 🥹

This chapter feels like the “wait and listen” and “the eve/dawn before” chapter

we both feel confused and also that the full “calling” picture hasn’t been filled in yet

We truly love and admire one another deeply, both for our similarities and our perceived differences

Prompt 23 - Kiss On A Dare

“So have you ever kissed a girl ?”

You choked on your drink, immediately frowning and grumbling, dabbing at the mess on your shirt with a tissue.

“What the hell Nami ?”

“It’s just a question.”

She looked too much like a smug cat for it to be just a question. You sighed. Robin’s attention was piqued, looking curious for your answer.

“Yes. Yes I have.” You answered simply, not seeing a point in details.

“I don’t believe you.” 

You were wondering if killing Nami would be fair. You pinched your nose, sighing. 

“I dare you to kiss a girl.”

“We’re at a random café and you want me to just go up to a girl and ask her to kiss me ?” 

She shrugged, still smiling. You rolled your eyes, wanting to ignore her… but you felt too annoyed to leave it be. You glared at her, for good measure, getting up and pushing your chair back against the table, moving towards Robin. You coughed into your fist, looking away for a second, a tad nervous. She only smiled warmly at you, her arms resting on the table, heads tilted up towards you. She was letting you right ? Right, seemed like it.

You leaned down, barely kissing her, feeling a blush creep up when Nami whooped on the other side, feeling Robin’s lips form a little smile. She pressed her lips against yours, turning it into a proper one, leaning back after a beat. You gulped, made a noise and went back to your seat, crossing your arms and glaring at Nami again. 

“See ? I kissed a girl.”

She smirked.

“I still don’t believe you.”

You were gonna kill her.
