Step by Step of the color impressions of "the great wave". 　　　　 1 Indigo -This pigment  is a selfmade one that is made from indigo dye cloth.Almost of all ukiyoe print is used sumi for the keyblock itself but the keyblocks of  this series,  "the Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji", were printed by indigo.Note that the series consists of 46 titles and the latter 10titles are out of this  example.

2 Orpiment -There are various color types of this picture in the originals. The original I used was the one that the sky itself  had been printed in yellow.However,I couldn't recognise what that yellow pigment was just by looking the book of picture. But I decided to use orpiment. （As I described the article before, the orpiment I had used in the past including the occasion I printed this must have not been  the true orpiment but perhaps touou（藤黄)  when I think now.  )

3Prussian blue.

4Deeper prussian blue - You can see that there are 3 kinds of  blue in depth and the deepest one is impressed by the first indigo. 

5Grey 

6Black gradation- Finished

In this work, the paper I used was named "Echizen kizuki housho" （越前生漉奉書).This is frequently used in the traditional reproduction  and impeccable paper if you aim to make a beautiful print. But in fact,it's inadequate one for my work from a restoring point of view.I have put effort to restore the original paper since about 2years ago. I will explain of that in detail in the near future. I think tradition is inherited in the flow of time with changing. And the edo ukiyoe print itself can't be made by the traditional way now. Making that problem solve is my mission.
