I’m going to apply for a job with a FAANG company and I finally told my PI and had to actually say out loud (on slack) that tbh I would probably take it before the academic job market even started if I could negotiate a late enough start date (“hi yeah can I start like a year from now?”)

But it makes me want to die a little having said that because I still haven’t totally let go of finding a tenure-track position because maybe this year will be the year!! My CV will look the best it’s looked so far, and there are places (well, at least one) that should be hiring someone like me in the near future!!

I wish this job would have come out like, next March so that I would know if i have a TT offer or not. I am very much dragging my feet on applying to it. I know I’m not likely to get a TT offer, because NO ONE is likely to get a TT offer in this climate. I should just cut my losses and enthusiastically apply to jobs that sound appealing and/or where I have an in, and this one fits both of those conditions.

Also I found out from my friend that I could be making something like 250% of my current salary as a BASE so like. Imagine how many burritos I could afford even in LA with that kind of money.

In Leonard Wolf's Essential Dracula, there's a footnote with a recipe for Paprika Hendl as it would've been served to Jonathan Harker:

I wholeheartedly recommend modifying this recipe as it's very "grandma cooking" in the sense that it automatically assumes you know how to do certain Common Kitchen Techniques For Victorian Cooks (like, you know, just make flour dumplings with zero instructions) - so here's my best take on the recipe, below the cut:

PAPRIKA HENDL À LA ESSENTIAL DRACULA (makes 6 servings)

4 lbs young chicken

2 tablespoons fat (substitute: oil)

2 large onions, chopped

2 tablespoons Hungarian Paprika (I went with Sweet)

1/2 cup tomato juice

2 tablespoons flour

1/2 cup sour cream

Cut chicken into serving sized portions

In a skillet, lightly brown onions in fat/oil

Blend in HALF the Hungarian Paprika into the skillet of sizzling oil & onions

To the skillet of spiced & browned onions, add the tomato juice and chicken, cover the skillet, and let simmer for ONE (1) WHOLE HOUR

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, beat flour into sour cream

After that 1 hour, remove chicken from skillet and set it aside on a plate, wrap in tin foil, and contain in oven/microwave to keep warm

In the still simmering sauce in the skillet, add the flour & sour cream mixture and add to the sauce with the remaining Paprika. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until well-blended

Pour half the skillet's sauce through a sieve or colander into a sauce boat - set aside sauce boat for serving later

Return chicken to skillet with still simmering sauce until fully warmed back up

Serve chicken on a warm platter, pouring the skillet's sauce over it and with the sauce boat on the side

Serve with flour dumplings

NOTES

1) Simmering 4 lbs of store-bought chicken breast in only 1/2 a cup of tomato juice for 1 WHOLE HOUR had me panicking and adding water and whatever canned tomatoes I could find just so I didn't burn the chicken (and the kitchen) as that was not nearly enough tomato juice to keep 4 lbs of chicken simmering for 60 solid minutes - so please modify at will, comparing with other recipes, etc.

2) The recipe calls for taking out the finished sauce and putting it through a "food mill" so I tried putting the sauce in a blender to try and turn the onions into sauce as well. DO NOT DO THAT. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES. It was a disastrous mess. That's why I modified the recipe above to just pour half the sauce through a colander into a sauce boat.

3) Oh, I'm just supposed to make flour dumplings from scratch?? I cobbled together a recipe off the internet in that long hour of simmering, the source of which has since strayed from thought and time (apologies) - so I would heartily recommend either buying store-bought flour dumplings or looking up a flour dumpling recipe ahead of time, as making them from scratch for the first time with a simmering skillet beside you is Quite Tricky

4) I added more Paprika than the recipe called for (gasp!) and honestly... I would recommend DOUBLING the Paprika in this recipe. My partner and I wanted more Paprika!! But we are fans of spiced meat actually tasting like spices and not a subtle "oh yeah I guess there's Paprika in there"

Even with all that improvising on an 125+ year old recipe with missing steps, it made for the most delicious comfort food. 14/10, would eat again with queer dreams

Zur En Arrh taking over Bruce, Batman (2016) #126

zur en arrh, in the simplest way of explaining, is this alter ego/personality (it's unclear) bruce created for himself should batman (bruce wayne) ever be psychologically compromised or brainwashed. it's not him, but a more sadistic and crueler person that is the "ultimate batman" who doesn't care about anyone or anything but getting the mission done.

during Batman #125-130, zur takes over the role of batman because bruce was losing very badly to the robot Failsafe (which is zur's own creation, that bruce has no memory of making). after getting vaporised by failsafe and sent travelling through dozens of alternate universes, losing his hand and fighting a flying shark (Batman #131-135), bruce returns to gotham incredibly mentally unstable.

During a peaceful dinner with his family, Bruce suddenly imagines the entire world on fire, Batman (2016) #136.

during everything, bruce managed to mentally fight back and kind of... merge their ideals together in order to survive and win in the moment.

and then successfully trapping failsafe back into his mind where he can no longer take over!

Bruce uses some sort of mental technique to lock Zur away in his mind, Batman (2016) #136.

except he didn't succeed! at all!

you see, when travelling through all those universes, bruce somehow brought back every single version of zur en arrh with him. now all of then combined, plus his already deteriorating and weak mental health from the last few years, bruce is currently operating under the impression that he's locked zur away, when he actually hasn't.

zur is the one partly, or even entirely, in control. right now, he's just pretending to stay locked away so bruce continues to do what he thinks is 'right' despite them being incredibly out of character for the run.

During his eight week coma, Bruce sees Zur 'locked away' and he is, apparently, not alone, Gotham War: Battle Lines (2023)

an example is when zur referred to robin as batman's solider, bruce mentally fought back to make it clear that tim was his son. but then, a few issues later, bruce refers to his children as his soldiers and that they've all betrayed him, implying that zur has always had control and isn't locked away.

so yeah, zur is not bruce! they're both batman, but zur en arrh is like his somehow unimaginably even worse twin. if you're interested more in him, i would suggest giving his character history a read! be warned it gets changed A LOT and is definitely not everyone's cup of tea (personally i hate him and need him shelved for another forty years).

now that that's all done and explained, the current state of gotham war is Bruce (thinks he's okay) fighting everyone else (except Damian) because in his (Zur's) point of view, they're all against the mission and therefore are now his enemies (he's lost his mind). totally not convoluted.

to answer your original question, yes, this is all bruce saying and doing these things but he is being HEAVILY influenced by Zur. we can't tell for certain how much of this is bruce and how much is zur, but we can definitely prove zur is partially or completely controlling him again.

even jason points it out after bruce implants that fear toxin chip into him in Batman (2016) #138:

like we can see the intention is to keep jason out of this, because compared to everyone else, jason was the most directly opposed to bruce. but zur is twisting how this concern gets expressed, since forcing jason into feeling fear everytime he gets an adrenaline rush is hardly the reformation bruce is usually encouraging. the other batfam members also talk about how uncharacteristically violent bruce is being.

"He's out of control." / "He's gone [In more ways than one.]" Batman (2016) #137

as the story progresses we see more and more of zur replace bruce, but because he can't have bruce trying to stop him again, zur is playing along and convincing bruce he's locked away. so really, bruce is at war with not only his entire family, but also his own mind. just another average tuesday for batman. he's being tricked and is unknowingly doing exactly what he was trying to prevent.

to understand what the actual war in gotham war is, give the comics listed above a read! if you find the story boring/ridiculous/stupid, don't worry, it is! the social commentary leaves a lot to be desired, as does most of the characters writings (especially selina's).

bruce and his one sided battle with zur is sort of an overarching story happening alongside it (along with a bunch of other ongoings. i don't even understand how detective comics and batman and robin are going to tie into this once it starts up again).

sorry the answer isn't a simple one, but unfortunately nothing is ever simple with bruce. also apologies in advance if any of the future gotham war comics come out and completely debunk all of this! who knows what will happen in this dramatic family drama.

News - For decades, episodes 125, 127, and 139 of the original Astro Boy have been "lost" episodes due to film prints and negatives having been misplaced. But recently, both episodes 125 ("Find The Bacteria") and 127 ("The Experimental Robot") were found in Japan! Not only that, but they were restored, and recently streamed on "R Channel", a free streaming service in Japan owned by Rakuten.

It hasn't been disclosed officially how these episodes were found, or where, but it's really cool to hear that a piece of anime history has been found all these years later! That means the only episode of Astro Boy left that's considered "lost" is 139. Hopefully someday it too can be found!

Sorry if my question was uncomfortable, but I'm a foreigner and would like to understand more about the "feud" between Greece and North Macedonia. I've seen (heated) discussions between Greeks and Macedonians about culture, but I don't know much about the context. Again, sorry if the question is uncomfortable or insensitive.

I think this Geography Now! video does a good job of explaining the controversy. Basically, the Greek position is that since Slavs came a thousand years after Alexander in the area, and the culture and language of North Macedonians are largely Slavic it's illogical for them to name their country after a Hellenistic kingdom and claim many Greek figures, and also Alexander the Great, as people from their culture.

For clarification, Alexander the Great was certainly Greek and he spoke the Macedonian dialect of Greek which was Doric (for reference the Spartans also spoke the Doric dialect). When North Macedonians say "he was Macedonian" they mean he was from their culture and he spoke their language, and he wasn't Greek.

North Macedonian history tends to confuse the administrative regions with culture and ethnicity because it's convenient to them. It doesn't matter if Kyrillos and Methodios were two Greek brothers from Thessaloniki. To N. Macedonians, because these two brothers were in a region that was occasionally the administrative region of Macedonia, they were "Macedonians", hence "from North Macedonia". To them it doesn't matter that Alexander's birthplace and all important cities of the Hellenistic Macedonian Kingdom are in Greece.

What is crucial to understand about this controversy is that Macedonia for a long, long time, was basically "a geographical region of many mountains". The Greek word Μακεδονία literally means "Mountainous Region", and because it's kind of a distinct region it was a district on its own many times. That's an approximation of the limits of "Macedonia" as a geographical region with distinct characteristics.

Below is the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia. However, the people who are now residents of N. Macedonia won't be here for another thousand years!

The guy in the video says the Macedonian kingdom expanded, but then he doesn't say that it was separated into more kingdoms for better governance, and one of those kingdoms was this controversial region (in Green) which is now part of Greece and North Macedonia. (Slavs were still not in the area)

When Romans conquered these kingdoms they also separated the area into administrative regions. The province of Macedonia within the Roman Empire, circa 125 (Slavs were still not in the area):

Later administrative departments of Roman empire (Slavs were still not in the area). In fact, "Provincia Macedoniae" changed almost at the time the Slavs arrived, in the 7th century.

Within the Eastern Roman Empire there was later separation into Themata, but now the department of Macedonia was moved to the West, occasionally including parts of the region where N. Macedonia is today. (Slavs in the area after 7th c. ACE)

Theeeen came the Turks, and separated the regions differently. Now everyone, Turks, Greeks, Slavs, Hebrews and whoever else lived in that region, are all part of the same "millet", the Rum Millet. "Macedonia" wasn't an administrative area then.

In the 19th century, Turks and Slavs were the majority in the region of Macedonia, with Greeks coming third population-wise, and Hebrews also having very large communities.

(Greeks might not like this fact, or they may ignore it completely, but if you open actual historical books and maps, you'll see the demographics. We have censuses from that era. I learned the old Slavic and Turkic names that villages and places in my region had. There's also a reason Kemal Ataturk's mother wrote to him "They took our Salonik" when Greeks reclaimed the city after 600 years. We can still love our country and appreciate our history, without erasing parts of it.)

In 1912, the largest part of the region of Macedonia was claimed by Greeks. In time more Greeks came to it as immigrants from Anatolia and other Greek regions, shifting the population in such a way that Greeks were now the majority. (North Macedonia still doesn't exist as a country)

In 1991, when the country of North Macedonia was created, Greece already had an administrative region of Macedonia which covered most of the Macedonian geographical area, also the ancient Greek cities of the kingdom, and the emblem of Greek Macedonia was the ancient Greek Macedonian star. The Vergina Star, and the ancient Greek city of Vergina is also in Greek ground today. (Our Emblem and Flag)

So you can imagine it came as a shock to Greeks when a newly founded country used not only their symbols, but also distinctly Greek symbols. People who are now residents of N. Macedonia lived in the geographical region that a few centuries ago was also "Macedonia" in the administrative sense, so I get where they're coming from. However, when culture gets appropriated, when the culture of important ethnically Greek figures is erased, when Greek words are claimed to be "Macedonian" all of a sudden since 1991, things get tense.

It's a political matter, as the video says. People from the two countries usually have normal interactions if the matter doesn't come up. And I don't think there's hate between the simple people.

Kiana’s Cardioversion

Kiana was a 25 year old black girl who worked as a personal trainer. She stood at 5’3 with a slim, but fit and toned build. Kiana had dark, medium length, curly, natural hair with a side part. Her eyes were a darker shade of brown, and she had a nose ring and bellybutton ring.

Earlier today, Kiana found herself in our emergency department after developing an array of worrisome symptoms completely out of the blue. She experienced a severe tearing pain in her chest, heart palpitations, and shortness of breath. As a result, she was sitting in the upright position on one of our trauma room tables. She was barefoot, and stripped down to only her sports bra and matching underwear. There were EKG electrodes stuck onto Kiana’s chest, and there were IVs set up in both arms. She was visibly uncomfortable, writhing in pain, squirming around a bit.

The heart monitors were beeping, chirping, and alarming rather loudly, creating a bit of tension and sensory overload in the exam room. The readings on the monitors were a bit concerning as well. Kiana’s heart was racing at 170 beats per minute, and her blood pressure was low at 75/40. The rhythm itself was a tachyarrhythmia of some sort. The EKG showed a narrow QRS complex and possible atrioventricular block. The symptoms and EKG readings pointed Dr Lindsay and in a few very different directions. One possibility was an NSTEMI heart attack, but how likely is that in a 25 year old personal trainer? Next was junctional ectopic tachycardia, which is an uncommon, but potentially deadly arrhythmia that tends to occur in infants or people who recently had open heart surgery. The other possibilities were an electrolyte imbalance, particularly potassium, or her symptoms could be attributed to stimulant use from substances such as cocaine, meth, or molly.

Since the possibilities were all very different, Dr Lindsay had to be thorough and order a whole bunch of tests. First off were blood samples. A CBC, a BMP, a toxicology screening, a cardiac enzyme test, an HCG, and a d-dimer were all drawn and sent off to the lab for stat analysis. Because Kiana was experiencing chest pain, Dr Lindsay decided to order a chest x-ray and an echocardiogram. Unfortunately, both tests didn’t help Lindsay narrow anything down. The chest x-ray came back completely normal, and the echocardiogram showed slight thickening of the ventricular septum, which is a sign of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. But some of the other symptoms didn’t point in that direction. So what exactly was going on with Kiana? Dr Lindsay was certainly stumped. All she could do was treat Kiana’s symptoms, and hope the lab tests would come back soon and show something noteworthy.

Of course the lab was taking their sweet ass time with Kiana’s stat labs. And of course Kiana started to get worse. Her heart raced faster and faster, and the arrhythmia became more troublesome. Dr Lindsay wasted no time and started chemical cardioversion, urgently trying to calm Kiana’s heart and relieve her symptoms a bit. But as the next little while unfolded, Kiana’s condition didn’t improve, almost as if the antiarrhythmic medications did absolutely nothing. When chemical cardioversion doesn’t work, the next step is electrical cardioversion.

Dr Lindsay explained to Kiana that her heart was in a dangerous rhythm, and they had to give it a quick shock to make it beat normally again. Kiana was a bit nervous and hesitant, but nodded in response to Dr Lindsay, reluctantly agreeing. The defib pads were then stuck onto Kiana’s chest and charged to a lower setting of 125 joules. Lindsay told Kiana the defibs were ready, then pushed the shock button a few seconds later. “MMMM!” Kiana moaned loudly, squeezing her eyes shut, wincing in pain from the quick jolt of electricity. After the shock, Dr Lindsay studied the monitors for a few moments and listened to Kiana’s heart and lungs with a stethoscope. Lindsay discovered there was no change in the rhythm and informed Kiana she had to be shocked again. The defib pads were recharged to 150 joules, and the next shock was sent into Kiana’s racing heart. Her torso shivered, and she clenched her chest with one hand while her face had a distressed look.

Dr Lindsay repeated the same process as before, studying the heart monitors and listening to Kiana’s heart and lungs. Just like before, Dr Lindsay didn’t see any change whatsoever and needed to shock Kiana again at 175 joules. The pads were charged and readied, and Kiana received the next shock. Her chest propelled forwards, and she let out a grunt, reacting to the electricity racing through her while wide awake. This shock failed to correct the arrhythmia, and Lindsay informed Kiana she had to be shocked again. “NO MORE! NO MORE!” She protested, writhing around on the table, on the verge of tears. Despite Kiana’s protests, Lindsay shocked her again at 200 joules. “AHH!” Kiana yelped. After that shock, she started to breathe heavily and tears started to roll down her face. “PLEASE! NO MORE, NO MORE!” she cried, begging Dr Lindsay to stop. But the arrhythmia was still there, so unfortunately Lindsay was unable to stop the cardioversion. The defibs were recharged to 225, and the next shock was delivered. Kiana gasped and cried out reacting to the shock, but just like all the others, the arrhythmia was still there. “PLEASE… JUST STOP! NO MORE! I DON’T WANNA DIE!” Kiana cried out hysterically, squirming and writhing around on the table wanting the nightmare to end.

The defib pads were recharged to 250 joules- twice the strength of the very first shock, and the next shock was administered. Kiana’s body trembled, and she scrunched her toes at the far end of the table trying to fight the pain, showing off the white nail polish on her toes and the thick, soft, wide wrinkles throughout the soles of her size 6 feet. Immediately after that particular shock, Kiana’s breathing slowed a bit. Her head lolled to the side and her eyes rolled back. Kiana’s body went completely limp, and the heart monitors were practically shouting at Dr Lindsay and the rest of our team.

It didn’t take long to realize that Kiana had gone into v-fib, so the team had to change gears and start running a normal code. The bed was lowered, and Kiana’s sports bra was snipped off, allowing her perky, deceptively large breasts to spill out. CPR was immediately started, causing Kiana’s chest to cave in, and her belly to ripple out. At the head of the bed, her airway was the priority. A 7.0 ET tube was carefully but quickly navigated into her airway, being held in place by a blue tube holder once proper placement was confirmed. Post intubation, CPR was halted, and the team decided to try their luck with the defib paddles, rather than the pads. The paddles were gelled, charged to 250 joules, and pressed up against Kiana’s bare chest. KA-THUNK! Her small body was thrown around effortlessly on the table while her eyes remained half open, almost as if she was still watching the events unfold around her. V-fib was still on the monitors, so the paddles were readied once again, and Kiana received a 300 joule shock. Her chest shot up and her back arched. Her big, perky tits jiggled around while she crashed back down onto the table. Kiana remained in v-fib even after this shock, so she was defibbed again after a cycle of CPR and ambu bagging. Her shoulders shrugged forwards. Kiana’s hands made loose fists from the electric current that ran through her body. Unfortunately, the shock didn’t bring her back.

With a few unsuccessful shocks out of the way, the team decided to resume chest compressions and push meds into Kiana’s IV line. Kiana’s chest was pumped violently but rhythmically for several minutes, but the compressions and 2 doses of meds failed to restart her heart. The team decided to defib Kiana again. The paddles were gelled, charged to 360, and she was shocked again. Kiana’s body twitched sharply in response to the shock, but her heart didn’t start back up. “again! Everyone…CLEAR!” Lindsay shouted, immediately shocking Kiana again. KA-THUMP! Kiana jolted violently on the table while her eyes remained open, staring up above with an expressionless gaze. Kiana was shocked unsuccessfully another 3 times after that and given another dose of meds, but v-fib was the clear winner of the battle up to that point.

Dr Lindsay was reluctant to give up on the beautiful young lady. However, the code became redundant the longer it went on. Kiana would receive a few shocks, then it was back to a few minutes of CPR and meds, rinse and repeat. At the 30 minute mark of the code, it was noted that Kiana’s pupils were fixed and dilated. Dr Lindsay knew she exhausted all possible options in this particular case. At that point, resuscitation efforts were ceased, and Kiana’s time of death was called at 4:48pm. The ambu bag was detached and the chirping, flashing v-fib monitors were turned off. The EKG electrodes were disconnected, and the defib pads were peeled off. The defb gel was wiped off of Kiana’s bruised, battered chest. Her eyes were gently shut for the final time, and her body was covered up. Lastly, a toe tag was filled out and placed on the big toe of her left foot. The tag dangled against the wrinkled soles of Kiana’s feet, signifying a sudden and tragic end for the beautiful young lady.

This woman Vaishnavi, worked on the hull of the Estrella-B for 44 years. Wrapped up in a worn spacesuit, she settled herself in a construction station built 125 years ago. It surrounds her, binds to her suit, provides her with all the tools she needs to weld, hammer, grease, connect, and perform all the miscellanea tasks that she has spent her entire life performing.

This woman Vaishnavi, her parents and grandparents also worked on segment E3-I34D, and she keeps their pictures in a small wallet that she never parts with. The photographs were taken on an ancient camera that no longer works. The last picture there is of Vaishnavi is from when she was 16. Vaishnavi broke the camera herself, but she tries not to think of it.

This woman Vaishnavi, we didn't know she existed. She was discovered in the 2882 survey, where she was found diligently reconstructing the hull of the ship as her grandparents and parents had done. The rest of her worker community has died out. She has never been into their quarters, because she believes it would be illegal to trespass.

This woman Vaishnavi, knows she won't finish the construction. She has been trying to summon more workers to her segment of the Estrella-B. However, as we later discovered, a protocol handling error in subsection 92-BB4D caused her requests to be undelivered. Therefore, while Vaishnavi continues to receive the resources necessary for hull repair, she has not been in contact with anyone else on the ship for her entire life.

This woman Vaishnavi, listens to one song so often that she sometimes finds it difficult to separate her speech from the song's lyrics. The music player that was passed down by her parents has seen considerable wear and tear, and a corruption error in the player's code causes it to play only the one song, which was recorded roughly 220 years ago, before the Estrella-B took off.

This woman Vaishnavi, had not spoken to another soul in at least two decades. Camera records depict her sending away her parents' bodies in space burials. With a gentle push, she sent them moving away from the ship, permanently lost in the infinite.

This woman Vaishnavi, became quickly overwhelmed, disoriented, and fidgety when contacted by the 2882 survey team. Through babbling, broken speech, a choked throat, and teary eyes, she explained that she needed more workers to complete the repairs on E3-134D. On being asked whether she would like to retire from her position, she became distraught and confused.

This woman Vaishnavi, we left her where she was. With respect to the labour redistribution committee, we request a transfer of at least fifty workers to E3-134D, where they might assist Vaishnavi in completing the repairs of the segment.

This woman Vaishnavi, in fulfilling her singular, lifelong request, we might put ourselves in the good graces of a Providence we have wronged by the vice of neglect.

so i'm on the royal museum greenwich's online collection of polar artifacts looking at the items recovered from the gladman point skeleton site again. as one does.

and like... well perhaps i am crazy but does the brown scratchy part on the right side not seem as though that would be exactly the spot where your thumb would rest, if you were holding the comb (folded up) in your closed hand....... like .... ok can you just go on this walk with me for a second. lets all imagine that

you know that you are going to leave camp and die out on the shale and not come back and you're choosing that option on purpose because the expedition has so badly fallen apart there's nothing else to do

and you decide you are going to die while carrying your semi-recently deceased husband's wallet (containing his notes and diary and poetry and ID papers) above your heart, tucked between your shirt and your waistcoat

but you are not literate and don't even have the means to write something down anyways, so you can't add any notes into henry's wallet for safekeeping

and you knew that he died terrified of being forgotten and would upset with you if you died without letting anyone know who you were, too

and you remember that eventually someone somewhere will search for the expedition, and would check the hms terror muster and see names and occupations

so you get dressed in your steward's uniform and start shoving a steward's tools into your coat pockets. just to really make it clear that you were a steward.

and you leave camp and get separated and eventually become lost

but it takes a fucking while to walk and walk and walk until you drop dead and so you have a while to think about things

and the whole time you're walking out and getting lost and feeling miserable and doomed and heartbroken and antsy, you've got your hands shoved in your pocket to protect against the cold

Irondad fic ideas #125

AU where Thanos never happened and the Rogues eventually return. They've been pardoned and they're supposed to get the team back together, but there's still tension. A lot has changed.

Tony has told them repeatedly to never call in Spider-Man for backup. Steve doesn't understand or approve. He assumes Tony is just holding a grudge, trying to keep this new, obviously powerful recruit on his own side. 

One day, Tony is caught up in SI business somewhere when a mission comes up, and they need extra hands. Steve decides to call in Spider-Man.

At first the mission goes smoothly, but then of course things take a turn. All hell breaks loose.

Tony taps into comms not long after to tell them he's on his way. He's left his meeting and is flying as fast as he can, though he's still a long way out. Somehow, Tony figures out that Peter is there. (Maybe he overhears Peter quipping, maybe Steve casually references Spider-Man.)

One way or another, he figures it out. He goes deadly quiet, then switches to a private comm with just Steve.

Tony is betrayed, aggravated, terrified and trying to bury it (and not doing a very good job), and honestly kind of bitter and insulted that Steve can't hear his obvious fear. Steve is annoyed at Tony's childish stubbornness, assumes the man is just mad at things not going his way. Still in the midst of battle, he dismisses Tony's concerns.

Then, Spider-Man gets hurt. Bad. Tony had already been frantically trying to get there faster when he heard the kid was there, but he still doesn't arrive in time.

At some point -- maybe there on the battlefield, maybe later in med bay when Steve arrives to chew Tony out for leaving with Spider-Man instead of staying to help -- at some point it becomes abundantly clear that Peter is Tony's son.

It becomes clear that Tony wasn't making Spider-Man off-limits for selfish reasons. Steve, blinded by his own view of Tony, was unbelievably wrong. 

It turns out, he had just been trying to keep his son safe.

Bonus:

If the reveal does happen later in med bay, there could even be a moment after the battle where Steve, fuming about Tony's lack of help and general inability to be a team player, is intercepted by Rhodey.

Maybe Rhodey arrived just after Tony (flying from the same meeting, but Tony freaked out and raced ahead) and then stuck around to help finish the fight. His reaction to Steve's unempathetic and baseless reading of his best friend is stone cold.

Bonus 2:

Steve fails to notice or understand Rhodey's meaning. Then he gets to med bay and is faced with the image of Tony holding a sleeping Peter on the hospital bed, glaring right across the room at him.

Both of them completely aware of what Steve had assumed, all these years, about the kind of person Tony was

Species: A lantern star. A lantern star is a type of star that is born every 100 years. When born they go the nearest planet and find something to inhabit. (This can be food,animals, people and objects). Once they find a thing to inhabit they then will adapt and change the object into what they see fits right with the environment they live in.

When born Jack went to a planet call Rally. When there Jack only watch and saw what the creature in that planet do for survival. When watching Jack saw them doing something with weird clothing and stuff. This got Jack curious. Jack watch how these types of clothing scare away some of these creatures and decided to make their own body. Jack saw something’s that could be used to scare these creatures away. Jack saw a pumpkin that had two eyes and a smile and then a cloak that was worn out but will do. After forming the body Jack added some formed claws because they saw a lot of the creatures had claws.

Years later Jack got bored and wanted to do something else then scare these creatures something fun… Thats when they saw the riders space ship and snuck on and stayed there for a good 2 days until they found them in the vent after hearing shuffling in there. Jack refused to leave the space ship many times. After many attempts to get Jack out due to their young nature they just decided to let them be apart of the crew. They are able to help around the ship but not anything dangerous.
