Very exciting Progress Report today folks!
Tumblr media
Next Update (Chapter 3? Maybe?):
Intro Scene (if not on music fest route): 100%
Music Fest Routes (Solo, V, and Amara): 100%
Club Pyre Path: 100% (Finally!!!)
Editing: 4%
Coding: ???% (I code some as I write but fuck if I know how much is done at this point)
Bug Testing: 0%
Tumblr media
Yes, you read that right! I've finally (finally) finished writing all the parts for the next update! Now, I just need to edit, code, and bug test the hell out of it and it'll be ready for release.
(Let's just hope I don't go too crazy on the editing and decide to add a bunch of new content or else this may take a while.)

People are so fucking outrageous you take some time for yourself that you told us you were taking and now they're up in your asks demanding stuff tell them to pay you for it, sincerely someone who doesn't mind waiting for whatever you post
on god i literally spent the last few days driving hours on end and just got back yesterday, today is my first full day back home. and i've been traveling out of town for the outreach clinic i have to work at the next few weeks, and even then i've still been writing allskdjf
lmfao i don't want to shit on that anon too much, and i'm def not trying to be rude or anything, but i'm also going to hijack your ask real quick to address stuff since i do have quite a few new followers.
while some users might not mind questions regarding when someone is updating/if they have anything planned for an ongoing series, and things like that, i specifically have it in my rules to please not do that, which is why i got a little short with them even though they arguably weren't being rude or malicious (unlike a few anons in the past have when asking things like that). this one is especially annoying because it's been literally eight days since i last updated for that, and i have other series i've been working on! like even though i'm not posting for it, i've still written a couple thousand words for pet!au, and i just finished a chapter for in limbo i'll have up for early access here in a bit, and then on tumblr probably tomorrow or wednesday.
but mostly, the reason why i specifically request that people don't ask if i have plans/when i'm updating/if i'm updating something is because i literally have an irl life. i've been pretty open recently about how i've been traveling and the work i've been doing, it's not a secret or anything lmao. it just feels... tone deaf, you know? like you come into my inbox not talking about the work, or what you like about it, or otherwise engaging with it, but just to ask if i'm giving you more, like i didn't just do that a week ago. hell, even if it's been months or years that's still rude imo because if you like something enough, then you'd probably be doing more than just asking for more, ya know? at least that's how it comes across to me. and like i said before, some people really don't care, which is why i made sure to specify it in my rules, because i do care. it ruins my mood to write and create because then it feels like a chore and people are waiting on me just to consume it and then beg for more rather than tell me what they actually enjoyed about the work lmao.
anyway, no hard feelings against that anon at all, i'm sure they didn't mean anything by it, so please don't show them any hate or anything. but just use this as a reminder to read the rules of the blogs you interact with please. or at least don't be surprised when you do something that irks them and then they're annoyed at you because of it lmao.
sorry about the rant in the tags

Happy New Year!!
*pops grape juice bottle* woooo we’ve made it, guys!
2023 was such a nice year in the fandom, in my opinion. There was s3 and that was a banger, but I feel like the stuff we were up to ourselves over here was amazing too. I got to talk more with some of my mutuals who I hadn’t been as close to before, and lovely people keep coming to this corner of the internet!! We had our first sketchbook event and are currently preparing for a general Hilda Appreciation Week, I feel like this is all amazing considering the size of this community.
Just wanted to thank everyone who’s been here for the ride as well! It’s certainly always more fun when you have people to be insane with you. I just. Get very touched thinking about the amount of support in this fandom and how we creatively fuel each other.
Anyway, just wanted to write this post as a thank you. I hope you’re having a lovely end of the year, and may 2024 be even better 💜
(I do have one small writing update to add, though! The first months of the year will probably be relatively devoid of new content from me. This for two reasons. One is that I churned out so many fics this year that I feel like even the people who like my writing are having a hard time catching up (I don’t know how this happened either-), and the other is that I’ll be using my free time to get ahead on preparing my content for the rest of the year! I won’t completely stop or anything (Hilda Appreciation Week will see to that), just wanted to leave this noted so no one things I’ve Vanished from the fic writing scene or anything. I’m just preparing my next attack. Anyways that was it happy new year!!)

Something I've been meaning to put down into words is the compassion I've witnessed on AO3. On one hand, I'm seeing so many sweet and polite comments on my fanfic, but on the other...
I've been seeing the same person comment on my favourite AO3 author's story asking when they were going to update, when is the story going to be written, how they couldn't wait any longer and they wanted a date for the next update...
Sometimes, life happens. The author could be working their ass off during their day job. Or even multiple jobs. They could be writing a dissertation. They could be starting a family. They could be living paycheck to paycheck. They could be spending more time on other hobbies. They could be moving houses. They could be in college, or in high school, studying for a test, focusing on a project at work, busy taking note of their employee's tasks for the day etc...
Or they could've simply fallen out of progress.
You can't get your angst or fluff or suspense without someone spending hours, weeks or months painstakingly plotting every twist of the story that you're so invested in. And that person still has to set aside very limited time they have on this Earth between work and/or studies to sit down and write.
Either ways, all of these possibilities and even more are signs that these authors have a life outside of writing. For the love of god, please have a little more patience. Every writer wants their works to be of satisfaction! And that doesn't come without a cost: which can come in the form of prolonged writing period.
You can find writers of all kinds typing on their phones on their way home from work. Or even sneaking to write a fluff idea between shifts, scribbling a note for a redemption arc scene they'll write later in the break room of a shop, or taking a break between study sessions to finish typing a angsty fanfic on their laptop.
Time is a our most precious commodity. And these fanfiction writers you hold so dearly to your heart are using their limited time in life to create something that they freely share with you! Write a nice comment telling them how much you love their work! Praise them! Give them kudos! Share their work with friends that love the same stuff! These little things shows writers that you appreciate what they're doing. Even coming back after weeks or months to comment and say that you still love their work is a heartwarming reminder to the author that someone out there cherishes their work enough to revisit it.
Remember: they can always write. But they can choose not to share it with the public either. Fanfiction writers are making the world a better place for me and you by expanding our ideas of our favourite characters.
Choose to be kind.

Why everything became so unbearably fast?
It's like I play jenga everyday by choosing at which project to work today.

Well well well. I'm officially 4 months, 20 chapters and 45k words into the werewolf story (+180k words into the RP project) Around 5 chapters a month is a pace of almost a chapter a week, which ain't bad at all. Never managed that before.
My outlines consist of min one, max 3-4 sentences. This seems to be giving me the right combination of planning and flexibility. I used to have very detailed outlines and that got boring quickly.
I have to imagine/play out the chapter in my head first and it can't take too long after to write it or I forget the important bits & initial emotion that sparked the scene.
But, I'm proud to say, all chapters until now have been sparked by a very strong desire to write them and accompanied by intense emotions as well. (Thank you whump for giving me so much inspiration XD).
I have about 20 more chapters outlined. Hopefully this means there will be space for more ideas to come to me in time, that are actual to what's currently being emotional irl & asks & games & prompts running around.
I'm very invested in these characters so not having an overreaching tedious plot to hold on to is hopefully a good thing. Or like, I have some bigger arcs outlined, but I'm finally treating these as suggestions and notes and not as obligations, so I don't mind if they fail/get boring or jumped over.

I'll post random bullshit snippets of my OC writing with 0 context or any intention of ever actually finishing the story, but the idea of linking fully edited fanfic chapters BEFORE the Entire fic is done? Absolutely fucking hellish. Anxiety inducing. I don't know what's wrong with me that causes this. I simply can not link a fic until it's fully 100% done.

Scaling the Walls of a Mystery as Understood By WillOfWinnie
(who, despite not having read it has astounding comprehension of the plot)
Tumblr media
Euden sure put up a valiant effort, though. Staving off his family for 15 chapters and approximately 180k words (though of course far from all of those words are focused on actually that aim) is nothing to be scoffed at.
...What? He'd never have even gotten that far if his siblings decided to back off repeatedly and find amusement in trying to tease out secrets/be polite by not trying to force him to talk combined with an extreme set of luck distracting them with other more concerning things? Oh. Still, he tried his best?
Either way, I hope any readers seeing this have been having as much fun as I have as we get to a breaking point! For any who saw this and are very confused, you can find Scaling on my AO3 here!

oh, the painful irony of rue tearing at orin’s impression of gortash only to fall for it completely the one time it matters
it's hard to see clearly when your eyes are full of tears :') small details blur into one
her only mistake ever was giving orin tips on how to be a better gortash!! rue's not that smart and it definitely bit her in the ass in the long run
silly girl. this could've all been avoided if you stopped talking, rue!!!
