So, now since it’s basically confirmed by her friends & staff that this is her man, can we talk about how this is a MUCH better handled PR relationship launch?

Like, Nic has been following him since like March.

Luke brought his new influencer gf of a couple of months, right off the heels of a 4-year relationship, to the first premiere.

Nic proceeded to go on a 6-month Press WT, seemingly while at least talking to Jake.

And I didn’t see A THING about them. Everyone speculated the whole time she was dating any gay or straight man she was in a photo with. Hence why I didn’t believe it til her team’s likes.

But, she is professional enough and respectful enough of her relationships to wait until most of the Bridgerton hype had died down. She focused the following months on promoting her brand deals and upcoming projects. Then decided a good time to do public outing where she took pics with fans and was guaranteed to be spotted. THATS how you do marketing and publicity. Luke’s team needs to take notes. This is mindful and demure.

[on a petty side note, it’s fucking HILARIOUS to me; After a year of shooting a romance with your sweet friend who was in a committed relationship, he shows up to your premiere with a 23/24 yr old “influencer” who’s “conventionally attractive.

And Nic said…. Bet. I’m gonna find a different 6ft brunette English guy with blue eyes…. but he’s ALSO 24 🙂‍↕️! And actually has a REAL job in entertainment]

Giving a complicated tragic childhood backstory to your favorite character is all fun and games, until you realize you need to account for how old all the other adult characters would have been at the time and realize that scenes that would work perfectly if one character was twenty three and the other was fourteen stop working when you need other characters who are played by adult actors clearly younger than they are to be in college at the same time so your story beats line up thematically.

I actually do find pre-TFA fics where Hux is always a lieutenant lowkey funny because on one hand okay let's be real Star Wars fanfiction does Not have to be accurate to any real-life anything, But However. On the other hand. Going off American army ranks, Hux being a lieutenant up until he became a general would mean that (depending on which rank of lieutenant, and depending on what rank of general the author depicts him as during TFA) he straight up jumped a minimum of five and as many as ten ranks through one assassination. Speedrunning the military hierarchy.

Love being a total nerd in my field of expertise. I didn't experience this level of devotion + dedication to a trade earlier when I was in (corporate and governmental) writing (- in contrast to academic writing, though - of course I went full Einstein there, analytical-inclined as I am). UX design is so much to sink my teeth in, but so so rewarding. Hell yes. It's a bit of a long and winding road, and for now the week comes with many frustrating hours, but I finally feel at home in a craft.

I just love seeing people finding themselves later in life. Be that characters on tv and in movies or people in real life. It's so nice and comforting to see that you don't have to have it all figured out when your young and that there's a whole other world out there for you. Where you can be happy and find yourself in your 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. This isn't all there is. Life is a journey and we're all going at our own pace.
