im sure you get this question all the time but how do you go about procuring those amazing outfits? do you thrift, get things tailored, make items yourself? do you buy things as you go or do you search for specific items one at the time? it's just that id love to have a style like yours (but masc haha) and i always wonder how you do it because i wouldn't know where to get clothes such as you wear anywhere, let alone for a price i can afford. and also, now im here, thank you for your amazing art, it always brightens my day when you post <3

Hello! 🥰 I collect pieces from different places that I feel fit the aesthetic I created for myself, kind of like character design, and I stick to certain silhouettes and color palettes that I already know I will feel comfortable in.

In my case I go for structured pieces instead of flowy draping ones, plain colors over patterns unless it's straight lines, earth and jewel tones on the warmer and muted side, medium height heels, gold over silver, etc. All of this makes for safe purchases for me no matter the store or outfit

Most of my clothes I buy from the historical reproduction shops I list under my posts ( I made a list some time ago here and also in the tags of each post as well as in my Instagram )

Some of these shops are on the more expensive side but offer custom tailoring which is ideal and a must for me because I'm built weird 😅 so I try to get my staple pieces there and plan the whole outfit around it before purchasing.

Then you can get the basic pieces to complete the looks from regular stores! stuff like plain shirts and trousers I usually get from places like Zara

I also thrift at curated stores which makes it easier to find interesting pieces (Edwardian revival from the 70's, capes, belts, handkerchiefs, scarves, bags and hats are some of the things I go for) I don't go with an outfit plan in mind for this, I just look around every once in a while and see what I can find and what I can do with it since it's usually very cheap too. I've also found that thrifting for masc clothes is way easier (at least where I live?) for some reason. I go antique shopping for accessories too, hats and pins from the 20's!!

Then the more specific and inexpensive stuff to tie the outfits together I get from aliexpress, (like the clock bags) and for blouses I also shop at lolita stores online sometimes

When it comes to planning outfits I just play dress up in front of the mirror like you see in the videos I make, I pull out a bunch of stuff from my closet and start matching. it helps me see what I'm missing or what colors would work best or which cut or fit creates an interesting look. It also helps you see and remember everything you have so when you are shopping or dressing up to go out you have this mental library and know whether something new will fit in with your wardrobe or not.

I also got a sewing machine some time ago and I'm teaching myself to sew! So far I've only fixed mine and my husband's clothes to make them fit but I'd love to move on to making my own clothes eventually!

I think that cultivating a personal style makes shopping for clothes easier and allows you to invest in pieces you know you will keep without fear of them going out of style and you don't feel the pressure to update your whole wardrobe every year. it's also super fun and has helped me build confidence and feel a lot more at peace with my appearance. 702 Zenview | Kennedy’s Apartment 

Kennedy moved off campus her junior year to San Myshuno. Now, you might be wondering, how exactly Kenny can afford to live in the Fashion District on her non-existent salary? Well, this apartment has been in the Broussard family for years. In fact, it was originally purchased by Kenny’s grandparents, Otis Broussard and Antoinette Guidry, at the height of San Myshuno’s development. Today, Kenny gets to benefit from the perks of a rent controlled, high rise apartment with gorgeous city views and easy access to the Myshuno Metro.

I wanted to post this before I headed to the When We Were Young festival this weekend, but didn’t get the time. Bummed I didn’t get to contribute to Simblreen this year but will look to work on a belated gift at some point. I had so much fun building in this midcentury and retro (60s/70s) aesthetic. The color palette was so much fun to work with too!

Since Scar’s new skin has been revealed, did you have any inspiration or reason for the specific theme? My thinking is that it fits super well because the armor texture pack totally looks like the shoulder pads, but I’m curious as to what the thought process was /nf

It's inspired by whatever was going on between the 70's and 80's; very colorful, crazy patterns, high rise pants, chest showing, very fun era for fashion

I took the palette from many resources with teal/orange/yellow combinations (very gtws-core)

The style is not-too-formal not-too-casual, I like to imagine his shirt is a loose dress shirt with the sleeves rolled-up for practicality, I went for colorful stripes because of the limitations of the pixel canvas but I'm also a fan of patterns and other styles, I'm all in for artist's interpretation

and yes the shoes have little heels

The glasses are tinted to show his life status, and also because tinted glasses are cool

! Fun reminder that these are just my inspirations, and in this blog we support other takes and interpretations that artists can come up with, because creativity and art freedom it's amazing <3

Does Brenner really asks Henry "what changed your mind? Is there someone else"? Are you serious? Is that actual dialogue?? I'm just shocked, how is no one talking about how weird Brenner is with Henry? does it just flies over most peoples heads?? What the hell

That is straight out of the plays I saw. Both of them. Verbatim.

Henry decides to leave HNL because Patty asked him to come back to do the school play. He tells Brenner he wants to leave, and the scene more or less goes like this:

"I'm leaving." "I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask why?" "I've decided I don't want to do this (read: make contact with the Shadow) anymore." "What changed your mind? Is there someone else?" "...No." "What, you think you can be normal? Go to prom with some stupid girl?" (Taking pages out of byler's playbook, I see)

And if I recall correctly, that's when Henry starts trying the theater doors to get out. Brenner goes on to tell Henry that he's all Henry will every have, etc. Brenner also, at one point, refers to Henry as "my boy", to which Henry whirls around and storms back towards the stage while growl-yelling "I'M NOT YOUR BOY". (And god it's so fucking good in person.)

Brenner very much treats Henry like a misbehaving/unfaithful wife. It had me gasping even the second time I saw the show and knew it was coming. I expected their dynamic to be clear, but I didn't expect it to be this blatant.

(Right down to love triangle blocking and shared color palettes! Slay. I hate it.)

More "fun" freak facts: Brenner kisses Henry on the head twice during his first stay in the lab:

When he's trying to trauma-bond Henry to himself by forcing him to lose control and kill a rat, only to present himself as a sole possible source of comfort for Henry. After Brenner cups Henry's face in his hands to take readings of his pupil sizes (1.9 and 5.9 respective to left and right eyes...1959...), Henry turns to sob into Brenner's shoulder about it, and Brenner hugs him/kisses his hair and tells him that what he did was "very good". (All of this while Henry's displaying, and I quote, "traumatic mydriasis", which is consistent with strokes and major head injuries. No medical treatment for Henry, just kisses and petting from Brenner.)

When Henry's having his grand mal seizure after displaying images of Dimension X. Brenner doesn't give him proper seizure care, he just cradles him, pets him, and kisses the top of his head. While Henry's half-aware post-seizure, Brenner asks him if he'd like to make contact with the Shadow. Henry agrees, but then as soon as he's slightly more aware he looks to a doctor behind him and literally asks for help. He looks back and says "Help..." Brenner also massages Henry's shoulders while he's ball-gagged in the '70s, and tells him he's been "such a good boy these past few years", which means he's fit to meet the children, which are referred to both as his and Brenner's children, but also as his siblings.

This means he kisses/caresses Henry more than Patty does. Period. Point blank.

Brenner also has some choice lines about Henry and killing. Henry's being forced into killing this whole time, but Brenner turns it around on him and says, verbatim, "You liked it more than you thought you would". It's 10000% giving "You actually wanted it/You were asking for it" irt being, uh, forced into doing something that you didn't want to do. (Especially irt the Shadow and all of its rape coding...Yikes!)

Brenner also massages Henry's shoulders while Henry's ball-gagged and belted to a chair in the '70s, all while telling Henry he's "been such a good boy these past years", which means Brenner has deemed him fit to meet the children...the children which are referred to both as Henry/Brenner's children, but also as Henry's siblings.

Yeah. They're considered Brenner and Henry's children ("You're as much a father to these children as I am"), but they're also Henry's "brothers and sisters". You do the math on that one.

A: I wonder what Tillda's favorite flower is? Forget-me-not? Ha ha ha. ...But seriously, I put 'em in there.

White lilies are the national flower of Italy. Supposedly, chrysanthemums represent mourning there?

Mimosas are said to represent women.

I just added lilacs because of her color scheme.

Common understandings of flower symbolism seem kinda shaky and varied at best, except for the REALLY popular ones (roses for love, etc.), so I didn't take the "deeper meanings" here too seriously.

Q: "🥀 (Wilted Rose) - Do they have a Soul form? What would it look and act like? How much control over themselves do they have? Is it still possible to save them, or are they too far gone?"

A: Well... I wonder how she'd become "Tillda Soul" in the first place. In the Kirby series, "soul forms" usually come about because of plot-defining magic shenanigans (messing with ancient artifacts, toying with destructive power, etc.), which Tillda tends not to involve herself in. But I could see her flying to close too the sun for the sake of Zed or her brother. For fun, I've drawn up what a "Tillda Soul" might look like.

I don't think Tillda's soul form would be "beyond saving" by any means. She's brash, but she's squishy on the inside. Hugs melt her.

Let's see: Tillda is stubborn, and if anything, trying to fight her would push her further away from the light, so to fix things, we'd better just give her a glass of warm milk and put her to bed. Hope you feel better in the morning, Tillda!

Q: "🧋 (Boba Tea) - Come up with a Kirby Café item themed around your OC! It can be a savoury dish, a drink, a dessert, or something else entirely."

I would pick a bento box because it seems like something Zed would take to work :) And fish is one of their favorite things to eat. Made a few sketches but nothing big.

Possible blurb:

"Enjoy a balanced meal with fluffy rice, baked fish, tasty melon, and an assortment of nutritious vegetables. It's a practical lunch for hard-working felines everywhere, and it comes in a sturdy, decorated box that looks just like the one owned by a certain N-Z."

(Yeah while brainstorming/researching this one I found out that, as a species, cats really like melon? And scientists think it's because melons give off a scent similar to something in meat that cats like?? Who discovered this and why??? I guess all those videos of cats utterly destroying watermelon weren't flukes... Zed is 70% honeydew confirmed)

Q: "🪄 (Magic Wand) - Are they capable of wielding magic? Is it a learned skill, or is it innate? What sorts of spells can they cast? Do they possess any magical items or artifacts? [e.g. the Dimensional Mantle]"

Zed is kind of inherently "magic" since they're made of Dark Matter, but they don't have any flashy spell-casting abilities a la Magolor or Taranza (or Tillda herself, to a lesser extent). Maybe Zed would be a decent magic user if they practiced, but they've never really cared to.

Their shape-shifting abilities mean flying is easy enough.

Their visor is hand-made and probably has some magic properties. I won't reveal its name or why Zed wears it (partly because "spoilers!" but mostly because I still need some time to work it out lmao), but it does come in handy often and is capable of more than meets the eye. (Or the zero, I guess. Hardy-har.)

how did you start life painting? im kind of learning trial by error here but your highlighting & proportions are so good, if you have any tips to share they would be greatly appreciated, have a grsat day!!

aw thank you anon :D Honestly drawing from life is something I always struggled with. There are lots of things you can do to help yourself along in the beginning. Mentality is important. it WILL be confusing and hard in the beginning. you're gonna make paintings you don't like. That's normal. Try to focus on one small aspect of improvement from painting to painting. Such as brush control, highlights, overall values, etc. You HAVE to find some measuring stick, no matter how small, of improvement from painting to painting. Even if it's just "Paintings made: +1". Doing this will keep your morale and motivation strong. Also you're gonna have to make a lot of them...I've probably made 150 of this mini acrylic paintings I've been posting. The only thing that'll really slingshot you forward is doing it a lot. I would really recommend painting with black and white paint only at first. That way, you don't have to worry about balancing color. You can focus on just getting your lights/darks and shapes correct. The most important thing in painting is the lights and darks, or "values" (which is the proper technical term). Next is huge: make some color strings before you start. Mix up some little piles on your palette, give yourself pure white, pure black, then a grey 20%, grey 50%, and grey 70%. The percentage here refers to the amount of black mixed in with white. so 20%, meaning 20% of the mixture is black, would result in a light grey mixture. Try to stick to these at first and not mix more. you're looking for shapes, and how they interlock with each other. Here's a little mock up of what I'm talking about. I made "strings" and then created the image on the right using only the shades in the paint swatches in the middle.

Keep it simple at first! Feel free to ask more questions, and I also do private tutoring for anyone that's interested :) and for fun, here's the painting I did based on this still life. The original mask was made by the incomparable missmonster.

If you were given the opportunity to design a Supergirl suit, what would you do with it? I’m a big fan, thanks for your blog!!!

hi thank you so much <33 i would love it if her suit took a lot of inspo from kryptonian fashion. we got a taste of this with the kryptonian headband she wore in the 80s (which i loved) and with her new 52 suit she brought with her from krypton (which i hated), but off the top of my head i can’t think of another instance where cultural kryptonian clothing was included in her suit.

if not the headband itself, i’d love it if she wore some kind of headpiece. it can be a symbol of her kryptonian citizenship, just for aesthetic purposes, or hold some sort of other significance (the headpiece that lara wears in the far left top and bottom pictures signifies that she's in the science guild).

i’d prefer a cape over a jacket, and specifically a sash/off the shoulder cape. or something like the little shawls the kryptonians in the top left are wearing. i also like the chain that connects the front of the cape to the back like in the bottom right picture.

and not specifically kryptonian fashion, but i like it when she wears gloves. i just think it looks nice and a little fancy.

then i’d have her wear a version of the pants/skirt or pants/loincloth thing. and knee high or thigh high boots.

but yeah thats just a vague outfit idea i have for her :) it'd be fun if she switched up her color palette too, i dont have anything specific in mind but just something a little different from the red/yellow/blue color scheme.

also i think she should have a large variety of suits! in her 70s adventure comics run she wore so many different fan designed outfits and i’d love if they’d bring that back in some form! even if it was just different comic artists creating a revolving wardrobe of suits she could wear throughout her run i’d love it.

Thanks so much for the love!! I actually talked about this in my server recently even though no one asked for it LOL

I accidentally answered this question as if you asked about adopts instead of my OCs! Things are mostly the same except I decide certain things about the character BEFORE I go forth to design their appearance :P

anyway, under the cut is a big long ramble about how I design my adopts LOL

First thing I do is consider different themes or combinations of themes. These are normally objects (eg: candle, mushroom, bear+honey), but they can also be concepts (eg: lovecore)

In this set of adopts, I used emojis as the themes!

Second is I decide the bodytype and skintone. It's important to me that there are more diversity in the community around me, so I try my best to have an even amount of light-skinned vs dark-skinned designs and light vs heavy set designs. Here's the message I sent to myself when planning the most recent set of adopts :)

I don't consider gender or nationality- my drawings aren't particularly detailed enough to portray meaningful ethnic features, so that is something that writers have the freedom to decide on their own. As for gender, even though I normally draw feminine bodytypes/fashion, appearance doesn't have bearing on gender or sex, so that is also for the writer to determine.

Sometimes I will also pre-plan the fashion style of the design, but more often than not I just make it up as I go along. For inspiration, I may look at google or refer to some tags I keep on my main blog: https://talentlessmainblog.tumblr.com/tagged/fashion, https://talentlessmainblog.tumblr.com/tagged/g .

Inspiration is always always always good! But it's not a good idea to lift an entire outfit from pinterest when you're selling a design. When I find something I really like, I try to add the aspect I like as a part of the design. Instead of taking a whole dress, maybe I will just take the collar, or maybe the style of the folds, changing colors and themes- taking aspects from many different sources to make something new!

The final steps are to draw the designs and color them. I try to make their silhouettes interesting, which is easy to do with feminine designs with long hair and dresses, but more difficult with masculine designs. I may end up swapping around some of the pre-planned details depending on what I feel like is working or not. Often I will reach out to friends for a second opinion when I'm struggling with color palettes. When designing the hair I keep in mind different hair textures, especially for darker skinned designs. Growing up on anime, it's easy to forget about coiled hairstyles!

To me, designs are more successful when you are able to abbreviate them to a very basic form. This is why I choose simple concepts to base my designs off of, and why I try to minimize the number of colors used.

I try to keep a maximum of 3 colors in the palette (omitting skin tone, black/white, and similar values of the same hue). There are different coloring rules, but one that I remember is the 60-30-10 rule and the 70-30 rule. Both of these rules basically say that you should keep this ratio for your main color, supporting color, and accent color in a design. (They're called rules, but they're more like suggestions; you can see me breaking them all the time).

These two designs are good examples, where the main colors (brown/beige) take up a majority of the design and the accent color (blue/gold) take up about 10% of the design.

I normally try to keep a nice variety of colors, but you don't have to :3 For this valentines set from last year, I kept an all-pink bear theme!

Hey I was wondering if you still done ships? If you don't then just ignore this but I was wondering if I could get a ship with Supernatural?

Apperence: I am 5'0 tall, 120 ish lbs. I have shoulder length dark brown hair that looks black with plum highlights (basically look up blackberry colors hair on pinterest or Google and that's what I have) that's cut in this 70's or 80's female rocker shag mullet i guess just call it a wolfcut. I have pale skin with freckles and I have some stretch marks on my hips, love handles, and inner thighs. My eye color is Hazel but you can't really tell so people just thing I have light brown eyes. I have horrible vision so I have to wear glasses.

Personality: I honestly don't know what my personality is. Like I'm quiet so I come off as shy but in reality I'm really not and can actually be quite the chatterbox especially when it's a topic I am passionate about. But I really only talk to people when they talk to me first, I don't really like starting conversations. I can get really hyper and jump, dance, and sing when some music is playing that I like. I tend to make whatever I am into at the moment either it be a tv show, movie, or book my personality until I get bored and move onto the next one. I guess I have a hard time trusting people even if I known them for a long time and know that they would never hurt me especially when it comes to relationships and forms of intimacy like cuddling, kissing, ect. I don't like fighting verbal or physical but if it comes down to it I will hold my ground if I need to. I'm hard-headed and stubborn as a mule at times. But once you get to know me and gain my trust I'm pretty fun.

Likes/hobbies: I really like music almost any kind really. But my favorite is indie pop/alernative/rock and pop. I like to bake and cook. My favorite seasons are late spring and early fall when its warm but not to hot or too cold. I love to read almost everything right now I am reading The Grapes of Wrath. I really like learning about flowers especially ones that grow wild and I like to learn about different cultures too. I'm an artist so I'm drawing or painting a lot and it is not uncommon to find me with paint or pen marks on my arms and legs. My favorite color palette is pastels especially pastel purples, pinks, and blues. I really like looking at sunsets because of all the colors the sky turns.

I believe Sam is the most accurate ship for you and here is why...

You remind him of his brother, in all of the good ways. Your clothing and style with your hard headed/stubbornness gives him a sense of comfort and nostalgia with his good memories of his brother.

You both have common traits. You come off as shy, but are quite passionate when talking about your passions/interests. I believe Sam is very similar in this way, he reads and studies all kinds of lore and is usually the one that finds the most information in whatever case him and Dean are working on. I believe between all the characters he is the most "shy" out of the group. (Definitely more shy then Dean in my opinion) and we see him opt to do studying/research at the motel then interviewing/bar hopping like Dean does (reasons vary because of Dean's lack of interests in research but still)

This boy has trust issues too. Like Major. But the thing with Sam is that he opts for healthy healing and talking things out right there and then when he feels a certain way or if he senses other people (mostly Dean) harboring emotions or grudges against him. He rather talk calmly and work out whatever is going on without coming off in an attacking/aggressive manner, which is mostly why I chose him for you verses the rest of the characters because in the show we see Dean bottle up his emotions/hit/throw things when he gets angry even getting physical with Sam (although he would NEVER hit his significant other) . And Castiel doesn't really know how to handle human emotions and usually asks for advice from others or mishandles the situation with good intentions. Which can be very frustrating for someone who doesn't like conflict. I believe with the exception of Jack, Sam is #1 at trying to defuse conflict.

You both like reading. Again there's common ground with you two, I can see y'all both just chilling in the impala both reading the same book, casually asking each other opinions on the characters in the book you guys are reading or occasionally checking up to see where in the book you both are at. Even making book references that has Dean internally wondering if y'all are making jabs at him or not.

Anyways, all things considered I ship y'all and I think you both would get along the most.

while we're on the ikemoto art hate train can i also bring up his garish choices in colors? the man can't make a pleasing color palette to save his life.

Yeah I wouldn't necessarily pick these either personally. I'm glad the Anime (not that that I care) didn't go for this. It's fun to go through it to see why this isn't pleasing to the eye though.

As you can see all 4 of the main colors are really saturated. All of them are above 70% meaning there isn't a main color. All of the values are very high too so nothing stands out either. Not much of a harmony. It's just a handful of skittles. I get the Magenta as it is part of his design, but if he didn't want to go for black for some reason.. why not something like this?:

Or something similar. If you want to have the Magenta stand out then keep the complimentary color lower in saturation and value. It helps! That includes the SpongeBob hair. (I don't understand why the Pink and Magenta from the fonts don't match, like why.) Also I understand that they can't copy Naruto and Sasuke's color scheme's and so they have to create a different complimentary scheme for Boruto and Kawaki but this one is questionable I agree. I haven't seen the Anime so I don't know what they've done with it tbh. A moment of silence for your son. Hope you're well @dinojisan 💕
