I love the 8 of Pentacles card. While working on Pastoral Tarot, I lived a rather solitary studio life, spending many hours drawing and painting. I had a budgie bird in the studio with me at the time and my kitties would wander in and out throughout the day. But until the family came home it was a time of quiet artistic reflection filled with endless creativity. Like the quilter in the card, I worked "diligently, with meticulous attention to details". The painting includes a portrait of a cat inspired by my Maine Coon. My kitty would often sit next to me in her own chair and in between naps would watch me work. It's the artist's life. I've had to fund balance with my creativity. Before, I would let creativity consume me. I would get angry if I didn't write over one thousand words per night or paint more than one canvas per week.
