Everyone walk up to Ruby and Jaune.
Yang: all right you two spill, what's going on with you two?
Weiss: yeah are you dating?
Ruby: What! No we're not dating.
Jaune: yeah we're just best friends that's all.
Blake: how do you explain this
Tumblr media
Ruby: both our team split up for awhile, I was happy to see him again.
Jaune: and I was glad she was OK.
Nora: then explain this.
Tumblr media
Jaune: we were excited after seeing Ace ops in action.
Ruby: Nora you were there, you were as excited as we were.
Ren: then what's your explanation for this
Tumblr media
Ruby: I was worried about my sister and friends after Ironwood bomb and was relieved when you guys was OK.
Jaune: look Ruby and I are not dating, we're just really good friends.
Yang: OK then.
Ruby: good now excuse me I'm going to take a shower now(grab Jaune hand) come on Jaune.
Jaune: She likes how I shampoo her hair.
As they leave everyone has a mixed of Confused and WTF look on their faces.

9 days of Lancaster Day3: Oblivious
Ruby:*playing games*
Weiss:Ruby, isn’t almost time for you to go to the carnival with Jaune?
Ruby:Yeah in a hour. Why? Need something?
Weiss:No, but shouldn’t you be wearing something nicer than your normal clothes? I get you two are comfortable with each other but shouldn’t you put a little effort into your date?
Ruby:Date? Pfft, we’re hanging out. Jaune and I have never been on a date.
Weiss:You go to the movies together alone.
Ruby:It’s cheaper that way.
Weiss:He’s taking you out to eat.
Ruby:So? That’s normal.
Weiss:You both spent Valentine’s Day together.
Ruby:Y-Yeah, because we’re both single so we decided to make plans.
Weiss:Did you make plans, or did he come to you with plans ready?
Ruby:….Let’s entertain that you’re right-
Weiss:You can borrow my white and red sundress. Also my flats.
Ruby:You could be projecting.
Weiss:There’s a Tunnel of Love.
Ruby:Who said we’ll go on it!?
xxxxxx
Jaune, in a nice blue collard shirt and gray jeans, looks at the carnival map while Ruby eats her cotton candy in deep thought.
Ruby:(This all seems pretty normal. Ugh, can’t believe I let Weiss get in my head.)
Jaune:Any other rides you have your eyes on?
Ruby:I’m fine eating funnel cake all day. Anything is okay in my book.
Jaune:In that case…why don’t we try Tunnel of Love since it’s here?
Ruby:….Jaune is this a date?
Jaune:H-Huh!? I mean- sorta? If that’s fine with you.
Ruby:Why didn’t you phrase it like one then when we made plans!? *waves cotton candy at him*
Jaune:We both wanted to go and I didn’t want to say something stupid and make it feel weird.
Ruby:What’s weird and stupid about a date with you! I’d be over the shattered moon to date y-….. *red*
Jaune:*blushing*……
xxxxxxx
Ruby:*walks into dorm slowly*
Weiss:*studying* How was the carnival?
Ruby:We made out behind the funnel cake stand.
Weiss:*drops pen*…..I beg your pardon?
Ruby:May I keep this dress?
Weiss:I beg your pardon!?

Day 5 Of 9 Days of Lancaster: "Shut Up And Kiss Me"
Ruby: Wahh!!! JAUNE! Help me! 😭
Jaune: Oh no what happened, Ruby?
Ruby: I-I got the sickness... 😢
Jaune: *gasp* We need to get you to the hospital right away!
*carry Ruby in his arms*
Ruby: (squee😍) There's no need Jaune I got the kissy sickness and it can only be cured by a kiss from a handsome blonde. 😘
Jaune: Well I think I know of a handsome blonde somewhere.
Ruby: And I bet he is really close by~ 😉
Jaune: Well sort of...
Ruby: Wait what did you mean by that? 🤔
Jaune: I'm talking about Sun of course. He's the handsomest blonde I know after all.
Ruby: Are you being serious with me right now?😠
Jaune: W-what? Of course I'm being serious! You got the "kissy sickness" right? I mean that sounds serious.
Ruby: (You...🤬) Jaune... I forgot to tell you that in order to cure the "kissy sickness" someone need to kiss me on the lips. Do you really want to see Sun kissing me on the lips? 😏
Jaune: I- Of course not, but if it will cure you of the kissy sickness then I will let Sun kiss you on the lips if needed be.
Ruby: (😮!) Then do you not like me. Is that it. Jaune why won't you kiss me yourself. Do you hate me or something?🥺
Jaune: W-WHAT?!! Kiss you? But I thought you can only be cured by a handsome blonde?
Ruby: Stupid Jaune!
*bite Jaune's neck*
Jaune: Ouch!
What the F?
Ruby: You're the handsome blonde, dummy!
You're the only one I want to kiss with! 😤
Jaune: But I'm not a handsome blonde...
Ruby: Don't disparage yourself like that! You're the most handsome boy I know. 😠
Jaune: But Ruby you are better off kissing someone like Sun....
*kiss Jaune*
!!!
Ruby: Jaune, "shut up and kiss me." ☺️
Tumblr media
Meanwhile
Ren: Should we tell him there's no such thing as the "kissy sickness"
Nora: *shush*
We're getting to the good part...
She's taking off his clothes...
Blake: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE THAT DOWN!

Day 6 - The Lancaster Discord
POV: You and your boyfriend speak in ✨business terms✨ when you’re fighting.
Inspired by a reel that I saw on IG @project_summer2023 and for the format discord that @meili-sheep did for heartsteel (bringing back mystic messenger also gave me nostalgia 🤧)

WoW Assassin's Creed AU
A World of Warcraft Assassin's Creed AU for @klayr-de-gall event AU-gust 2024 day 9 Assassin's Creed featuring my rogue characters Thorsten, Aeriala, and Chloris as members of the Assassins.
In Medieval Paris, merchant Thorsten Lancaster return to his home and put his personal items away. Thorsten noticed a paper by his bed and open it, which read, 'Greetings brother, our heads need checking. Come to the tower tonight.' and he realized that it is a code message for the Assassins and he get his white Assassin robe, putting it on along with his hidden blade.
By night fall, Thorsten use the rooftops to travel to the top of the high tower, where he meet his fellow Assassins member Aeriala and Chloris, with the latter see Throsten and he said to him, "Thorsten, it's good to see you again, old friend." and Thorsten said, "Me too, Chloris."
Aeriela explains the mission to the two men, "The mentor believe that local Templars has found a Piece of Eden. We must get the Piece of Eden before they use it to take the free wills of others."
The trio of Assassins sneak inside the Templar hideout, and oversee a gathering in the main hall where a female high rank officer said to her men, "The Father of Understand will guide us to our destiny to united mankind under our rule. The Apple will help us in our eternal mission." and the men cheer.
After a battle, Thorsten killed Wanda, the Templar officer, and she said with her dying breath, "Curse... you... this... would... be... my... great... h... our..." and close her eyes once she passed away. Thorsten recover the Apple and he, along with Aeriela and Chloris, escape the Templars' base.

[ad_1] Enjoy the rich cultural tapestry of this vibrant London community filled with quirky museums, a bustling market, and plenty in between with our guide to the best things to do in Notting Hill. LAST UPDATE: 16 Jan 2024 Anywhere We Roam is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support - Paul & Mark. Notting Hill has a vibrant and colourful past stretching back to the 1800s when it was first developed into a fashionable area for London’s upper classes. By the early 1900’s Notting Hill fell from grace and the rich moved to the more expensive Belgravia and Mayfair.   Following large-scale immigration to the UK in the 1950s, and a housing shortage, the grand properties in Notting Hill were converted into multi-occupancy dwellings and the area became significantly impoverished due in no small part to lawless landlords. Today, as gentrification has taken hold, Notting Hill is a vibrant neighbourhood with the Beckhams up one end and a rich cultural enclave at the other. As locals, we know the area well. Here’s our guide to our favourite things to do in Notting Hill. 1. SEE THE COLOURFUL HOUSES Following the gentrification of Notting Hill in the late 20th century, the homes that were previously multi-occupancy slums have steadily been transformed into colourful residences.   Lined up in charming rainbow-colored rows, the pastel-hued facades of Notting Hill are today one of the area’s star attractions. The most popular street is Lancaster Road, probably due to its proximity to Portobello Road. However, there is beautiful architecture all over Notting Hill. Elgin Crescent, Rosemead Road, and Lansdowne Road form an excellent circuit of colourful houses that you’ll often have completely to yourself. LANCASTER ROAD LANSDOWNE ROAD ELGIN CRESCENT 2. PORTOBELLO MARKET Portobello Road is the heart of Notting Hill and Portobello Market runs along its length. It’s one of the most popular things to do in Notting Hill and the buzz of the crowd creates a vibrant energy. The market is split into 4 sections, each with its own best day to visit. Vintage & Bric-a-brac Market: Friday, Saturday & Sunday Fashion Market: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Fruit & Veg Market: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday Antiques market: Friday, Saturday In our opinion, the most interesting are the Vintage and Antiques Markets, making Friday and Saturday excellent times to visit. However, they are also the busiest days. Portobello Market Opening Hours: In summer the stalls are usually open from 8.30 am to 6 pm and in winter from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Thursday is half day operating from 9 am to 1 pm.  VINTAGE MARKET ALICES VINTAGE MARKET ANTIQUE’S MARKET 3. GRAFFIK GALLERY The Graffik Gallery on Portobello Road is an interesting space dedicated to street and urban art. They offer private graffiti masterclasses where you can learn the basic skills of spray paint with knowledgeable and friendly teachers. It’s a great activity for kids and they also take groups, making it a fun team-building exercise. You can purchase art from the store or visit one of the exhibitions they have throughout the year. All the details are on the Graffik Gallery website. GRAFFIK GALLERY, NOTTING HILL 4. ELECTRIC CINEMA The Electric Cinema is a stylish way to see a recent blockbuster or old-school classic movie by the people behind Soho House. It commenced operating in 1910 as one of the first motion picture house in Britain to be supplied with electricity. Despite a few intermittent shutdowns, it has been in almost continual use as a picture theatre since. The Edwardian Baroque interiors are decorated with sumptuous red velvet seats. You can select an armchair with a footstool, a front-row bed seat, or a back-row sofa. Food and beverages are provided by the onsite restaurant.   ELECTRIC CINEMA, NOTTING HILL 5. BRUNCH
Notting Hill is one of the best destinations in London for brunch. After strolling the market, there’s nothing better than sitting down to a quality breakfast and well-constructed coffee. Some of our brunch highlights in the Notting Hill area include the Electric Diner for their proper Ful English, Beam for their Middle Eastern-inspired plates, and Farm Girl for their healthy Aussie-inspired treats. Our full list is available on our guide: best brunch places in Notting Hill. 6. WESTBOURNE GROVE BOUTIQUES Notting Hill is a diverse area. Contrast the flea market feel of Portobello Road Market with the high-end boutiques on Westbourne Grove. The section of Westbourne Grove between Colville Road and Chepstow Road is packed with great reasons to visit. At the lower end towards Colville Road you’ll find designer shops including Soho Home Studio, Max Mara, Olebar Brown, Kooples, Toast, and Aesop. There are also some great dining options including Taquería, Wild Notting Hill, and Sumi. WESTBOURNE GROVE 7. BOOKSHOPS BOOKS FOR COOKS Books for Cooks is one of the most interesting things to do in Notting Hill. Shelves are crammed with every tasty title you could imagine, and well-worn sofas are wedged into corners for the benefit of cookbook junkies. The highlight though is the test kitchen sandwiched into the back of the store. Cooks try out unusual experiments from the books with a menu that changes daily based on what they can get their hands on from Portobello Market.   NOTTING HILL BOOKSHOP We’re sorry to say but the bookstore located at 13 Blenheim Crescent has been designed as a recreation of William Thackery’s bookshop from the Notting Hill movie, however, it’s not the one that was used in the film. If you can push past the crowds lining up for a photo, it’s still a lovely bookshop to visit. LUYTENS & RUBENSTEIN Luytens and Rubenstine is a small independent bookstore stocking selected titles across a broad range of genres. Operated by two literary agents, the focus is on excellent writing. Each book in the store has been hand-picked by someone who loves it. LUYTENS & RUBENSTEIN NOTTING HILL BOOKSHOP BOOKS FOR COOKS 8. MUSEUM OF BRANDS The Museum of Brands is a nostalgic journey through 200 years of consumer culture. Packed with memorabilia from Victorian times through to the modern day, the museum is stuffed with cultural markers. Find vintage prints, household products, old magazines, toys, and everything in between. The building was once the world’s largest centre for people living with HIV. Princess Dianna regularly visited patients in the memorial garden which is now part of the cafe. MUSEUM OF BRANDS 9. NOTTING HILL FILM LOCATIONS It’s hard to know whether the area has driven the recurring interest in the movie or visa versa. Either way, it’s left its mark on Notting Hill, not to mention it’s house prices. Here are some spots from the movie to collect on your visit. The Blue Door – The blue door to William’s flat is at 280 Westbourne Park Road. It’s easy to spot for the throng of people out front. Notting Hill Bookshop – As mentioned above, the bookstore located at 13 Blenheim Crescent is not the one that was used in the film. It is a faithful recreation so there’s no harm in grabbing a selfie out front. 142 Portobello Road – This is the location of the actual shop used for filming the bookstore scenes. During filming it was an antique shop, it’s now a souvenir store with the wrong sign. (In the film, it was called “The Travel Book Co” not “The Travel Book Store” which is what you see today. Coronet Theatre – This arts venue used to be a cinema and it was used when William and Spike were watching a film. Rosemead Gardens – This is the location of the private gardens where William and Anna climbed over the fence. ROSEMEAD GARDENS 280 WESTBOURNE PARK RD 142 PORTOBELLO ROAD 10. ACKLAM VILLAGE MARKET Opposite the Vintage Market, which you can visit on our Notting Hill walk,
you’ll find Acklam Village Market, an excellent destination for live music and street food. The International Street Food Market on Acklam Road sells eclectic mix of street food from around the world. You’ll find everything from noodles to falafel, plus Thai, Chinese, and of course, a decent curry. The street food market is open Friday to Sunday. The Acklam Village Market Bar (Saturday’s) hidden inside an old sports hall, has some of the best live music in west London. They champion locally sourced spirits and craft beer with a seasonal cocktail menu. Enjoy a beer in a cool venue while catching a live act. Check what’s on via the Acklam Village website. ACKLAM VILLAGE 11. NOTTING HILL’S SECRET BANKSY Hidden beside the stalls of the Acklam Village food market is the Banksy mural “The Painter.” Thought to be Spanish painter Velazquez, a bow-tied artist holding an easel and brush hand paints the words BANKSY in red lettering. It’s one of the oldest Banksys in London, having first appeared in 2008. It was covered by building works for several years but reappeared in 2020. You’ll find it on the wall of the Grand Hotel on the corner of Portobello Road and Acklam Road, however, you can only see it when the Acklam Village Market is not operating. BANKSY NOTTING HILL 12. ROUGH TRADE Rough Trade West is the oldest and smallest of the Rough Trade stores. They sell a collector’s array of vinyl, but you can also pick up books, merchandise, and stereo equipment. It’s well worth popping in for a poke around but they also feature regular in-store performances from a talented bunch of artists. They have a focus on unplugged and acoustic sets, as well as talks with musicians. See what’s on at roughtrade.com. ROUGH TRADE 13. ST LUKE MEWS A mews is a small traffic-free street found behind extravagant 18th and 19th-century mansion houses. They were used to stable horses of the wealthy and to provide accommodation for servants. They are a common feature of Notting Hill and today they have been converted into charming houses. St Luke Mews is one of the prettiest mews streets to visit in Notting Hill and it was the one featured in Love Actually. Colville Mews is often mentioned as a good mews to visit. However, this is probably because of the famous Union Jack covering one of the buildings which has now been removed. It’s very much a residential street and probably a good idea for visitors to give them their privacy back. ST LUKE’S MEWS 14. FARMERS’ MARKET As locals, the Notting Hill Farmers’ Market is one of our favourite things to do. Even if you’re visiting the area, it’s worth popping in for a look. They stock organic produce from local farmers including the freshest fruit and veg, amazing wild mushrooms, the best goat’s cheese you’ll find anywhere as well as fresh pasta, meat, fish and much more.   Apart from the quality produce the area is a great part of Notting Hill to visit. Nearby you’ll find Kuro, one of our favourite cafes in Notting Hill, as well as Greek restaurants Suzi Tros and Mazi. The Farmer’s Market is in the Fox Primary School on Edge Street W8 7PP. 15. NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL The Notting Hill Carnival is a celebration of the Caribbean Community, taking place on the August bank holiday weekend every year. The carnival was forged out of the Notting Hill race riots in the 1950’s and by 1976 it had a distinctly Caribbean flavour. Today, you can expect to be celebrating with around 2 million people making it the largest street festival in Europe. Stay up to date on the official Notting Hill Carnival website. House Republicans’ 2022 Strategy To Beat Democrats: Target Socialist Agenda And Job Killing Policies
How Republicans can win back the White House
House Republicans have laid out their path to winning back the chamber they came close to flipping in 2020. They plan to rely on a similar playbook: slamming the Democrats as socialists who will implement “job killing policies,” while at the same time downplaying any divisions within the GOP.
Since President Biden has taken office, the National Republican Congressional Committee has honed in on the impacts of closing the Keystone XL pipeline and delays in reopening schools.
“It’s going to come down to two different agendas: one is about freedom one is about having the right to self-determine your economic freedom, your individual liberties. The other one is about big government,” National Republican Congressional Committee chair Tom Emmer said in a call with reporters on Wednesday.;
“Every voter is going to have a clear understanding of the Democrats’ socialist agenda and the damaging impact it’s going to have on their daily lives.”
The party is;targeting 47 Democrats and needs a net gain of five seats to flip the chamber. The committee has split its targets into three categories: battleground districts where Mr. Biden lost or won by less than 5%; districts where House Democrats trailed his margins or where they won by less than 10%; and districts in states expected to add or lose congressional districts.
“Liz Cheney not losing her position really showed, ‘Okay we’re going to move on,'” she said.
Reality Check : The Democrats Legislative Fix Will Never Happenand Doesnt Even Touch The Real Threats
Its understandable why Democrats have ascribed a life-or-death quality to S. 1, the For the People bill that would impose a wide range of requirements on state voting procedures. The dozensor hundredsof provisions enacted by Republican state legislatures and governors represent a determination to ensure that the GOP thumb will be on the scale at every step of the voting process. The proposed law would roll that back on a national level by imposing a raft of requirements on statesno excuse absentee voting, more days and hours to votebut would also include public financing of campaigns, independent redistricting commissions and compulsory release of presidential candidates’ tax returns.
There are all sorts of Constitutional questions posed by these ideas. But theres a more fundamental issue here: The Constitutional clause on which the Democrats are relyingArticle I, Section 4, Clause 1gives Congress significant power over Congressional elections, but none over elections for state offices or the choosing of Presidential electors.
Opinion: The House Looks Like A Gop Lock In 2022 But The Senate Will Be Much Harder
Redistricting will take place in almost every congressional district in the next 18 months. The party of first-term presidents usually loses seats in midterms following their inauguration President Barack Obamas Democrats lost 63 seats in 2010 and President Donald Trumps Republicans lost 40 in 2018 but the redistricting process throws a wrench into the gears of prediction models.
President George W. Bush saw his party add nine seats in the House in 2002. Many think this was a consequence of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America nearly 14 months earlier, but the GOP, through Republican-led state legislatures, controlled most of the redistricting in the two years before the vote, and thus gerrymandering provided a political benefit. Republicans will also have a firm grip on redistricting ahead of the 2022 midterms.
The Brennan Center has found that the GOP will enjoy complete control of drawing new boundaries for 181 congressional districts, compared with a maximum of 74 for Democrats, though the final numbers could fluctuate once the pandemic-delayed census is completed. Gerrymandering for political advantage has its critics, but both parties engage in it whenever they get the opportunity. In 2022, Republicans just have much better prospects. Democrats will draw districts in Illinois and Massachusetts to protect Democrats, while in Republican-controlled states such as Florida, Ohio and Texas, the GOP will bring the redistricting hammer down on Democrats.

Voting With The Party
This section was last updated in 2014.
The following data comes from OpenCongress, a website that tracks how often members of Congress vote with the majority of their party caucus.
The average Republican voted with the party approximately 93.6 percent of the time.
The average Republican voted with the party approximately 94.3 percent of the time.
The top Republican voted with the party approximately 98.2 percent of the time.
The bottom Republican voted with the party approximately 75.1 percent of the time.
Reality Check : Biden Cant Be Fdr
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theres no question that Biden is swinging for the fences. Beyond the emerging bipartisan infrastructure bill, he has proposed a far-reaching series of programs that would collectively move the United States several steps closer to the kind of social democracy prevalent in most industrialized nations: free community college, big support for childcare and homebound seniors, a sharp increase in Medicaid, more people eligible for Medicare, a reinvigorated labor movement. It is why 100 days into the administration, NPR was asking a commonly heard question: Can Biden Join FDR and LBJ In The Democratic Party’s Pantheon?
But the FDR and LBJ examples show conclusively why visions of a transformational Biden agenda are so hard to turn into reality. In 1933, FDR had won a huge popular and electoral landslide, after which he had a three-to-one Democratic majority in the House and a 59-vote majority in the Senate. Similarly, LBJ in 1964 had won a massive popular and electoral vote landslide, along with a Senate with 69 Democrats and a House with 295. Last November, on the other hand, only 42,000 votes in three key states kept Trump from winning re-election. Democrats losses in the House whittled their margin down to mid-single digits. The Senate is 50-50.
Don’t Miss: When Did The Democratic And Republican Parties Switch Platforms
The 2024 Presidential Election Will Be Close Even If Trump Is The Gop Nominee
One very important thing we should have all taken away from both the 2016 and 2020 presidential contests is that the two major parties are in virtual equipose . The ideological sorting-out of the two parties since the 1960s has in turn led to extreme partisan polarization, a decline in ticket-splitting and and in number of genuine swing voters. Among other things, this has led to an atmosphere where Republicans have paid little or no price for the extremism theyve disproportionately exhibited, or for the bad conduct of their leaders, most notably the 45th president.
Indeed, the polarized climate encourages outlandish and immoral base mobilization efforts of the sort Trump deployed so regularly. Some Republicans partisans shook their heads sadly and voted the straight GOP ticket anyway, And to the extent there were swing voters they tended strongly to believe that both parties were equally guilty of excessive partisanship, and/or that all politicians are worthless scum, so why not vote for the worthless scum under whom the economy hummed?
The bottom line is that anyone who assumes Republicans are in irreversible decline in presidential elections really hasnt been paying attention.
Can Republicans Win The House
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee came out with a memo yesterday asserting that the House was not likely to land in Republican hands, but Nate Silver thinks its more likely than Democrats may want to admit:
The DNCC memo, of course,; is meant to serve a purpose other than providing an accurate forecast of November theyre trying to make sure that the base doesnt become so demoralized that they stay home and make a bad election even worse.
Im still not certain that Republicans can take back the House, but its certainly possible for the reasons Silver points out.

How Republicans Can Win In 2022
STUART WESBURY | Special to LNP | LancasterOnline
For Republicans, the only goal must be to win back the U.S. House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections.
That should be easy. In November, even though Donald Trump was not reelected president, the down-ballot races boded well for the GOPs future. But we Republicans are not acting like we want to win anything. So where do we go from here?
Of late, Republicans have separated themselves into several distinct groups, each with a different attitude and view.
For one group, retribution is the goal. These enthusiastic Trump supporters, distressed by the seven Republican U.S. senators who found Trump guilty in his second impeachment trial, are in a very unhappy mood. While the Republican Committee of Lancaster County did not pass a vote to censure Sen. Pat Toomey, other local committees did. The Pennsylvania Republican Party rebuked, rather than censured, Toomey.
The other senators who voted with Toomey to convict Trump were subjected to a variety of admonishments, as was, most notably, U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming. It began to look like an inquisition.
This is very serious. A very large group of Republican voters, numbering in the millions throughout the United States, are similarly angry. They continue to challenge the validity of President Joe Bidens election, wrongly insisting victory was stolen from Trump in November.
In other words, the fight goes on and many solid Republicans are on the proverbial chopping block.
Republicans Will Likely Take Control Of The Senate By 2024
How the GOP can win the house in 2022
The usual midterm House losses by the White House party dont always extend to the Senate because only a third of that chamber is up for election every two years and the landscape sometimes strongly favors the presidential party . But there a still generally an out-party wave that can matter, which is why Republicans may have a better than average chance of winning in at least some of the many battleground states that will hold Senate elections next year . If they win four of the six youll probably be looking at a Republican Senate.
But its the 2024 Senate landscape that looks really promising for the GOP. Democrats will be defending 23 seats and Republicans just 10. Three Democratic seats, and all the Republican seats, are in states Trump carried twice. Four other Democratic seats are in states Trump won once. It should be a banner year for Senate Republicans.

Reality Check #: The Electoral College And The Senate Are Profoundly Undemocraticand Were Stuck With Them
Because the Constitution set up a state-by-state system for picking presidents, the massive Democratic majorities we now see in California and New York often mislead us about the partys national electoral prospects. In 2016, Hillary Clintons 3-million-vote plurality came entirely from California. In 2020, Bidens 7-million-vote edge came entirely from California and New York. These are largely what election experts call wasted votesDemocratic votes that dont, ultimately, help the Democrat to win. That imbalance explains why Trump won the Electoral College in 2016 and came within a handful of votes in three states from doing the same last November, despite his decisive popular-vote losses.
The response from aggrieved Democrats? Abolish the Electoral College! In practice, theyd need to get two-thirds of the House and Senate, and three-fourths of the state legislatures, to ditch the process that gives Republicans their only plausible chance these days to win the White House. Shortly after the 2016 election, Gallup found that Republican support for abolishing the electoral college had dropped to 19 percent. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a state-by-state scheme to effectively abolish the Electoral College without changing the Constitution, hasnt seen support from a single red or purple state.
Why Republicans Are Likely To Win The 2022 Mid
The public opinion in the United States may indeed be generally opposed to the Republican Party coming to power in the 2022 mid-term election, yet we should not close our eyes to the fact that the GOP is still well-positioned to take back the House and change the balance of power in its favor.
Taking a glance at what happened during recent months, it seems highly probable that the Republican party may have little to no chance to win the 2022 mid-term election. The first and the most noticeable incident that helps this idea prevail is that it was a Republican president who instead of leading the country towards peace in a time of crisis back in January, actually added fuel to the huge fire of division and riot in the U.S. and encouraged his extremist supporters to attack the Capitol Building, creating a national embarrassment that can hardly be erased from peoples memory.
To compound the puzzle, while no one can deny the destructive role the former president Donald Trump had in plotting for and leading the , in the battle of Trump against the truth, the members of the Republican party chose to opt for supporting the former at the cost of sacrificing the latter; It was on this Wednesday that Republican leaders in Congress expressed their opposition to a proposed bipartisan commission designed and created for investigating the Capitol riot that was carried out by Trumps supporters.

The Plausible Solution: Just Win More
Whether the public sees Democratic demands for these structural changes as overdue or overreaching, the key point is that they are currently exercises in futility. The only plausible road to winning their major policy goals is to win by winning. This means politics, not re-engineering. They need to find ways to take down their opponents, and then be smarter about using that power while they have it.
They certainly have issues to campaign on. In the few weeks, we have learned that some of Americas wealthiest people have paid only minimal or no federal income tax at all. Even as the Wall Street Journal editorial writers were responding to a Code Red emergency , the jaw-dropping nature of the reportfollowed by a New York Times piece about the impotence of the IRS to deal with the tax evasions of private equity royaltyconfirmed the folk wisdom of countless bars, diners, and union halls: the wealthy get away with murder.
Of course this is a whole lot easier said than done. A political climate where inflation, crime and immigration are dominant issues has the potential to override good economic news. And 2020 already showed what can happen when a relative handful of voices calling for defunding the police can drown out the broader usage of economic fairness.

For The People Act Matters

Gerrymandering, under state laws, can be done by the party in power. That means the GOP has a significant advantage as they control the legislature in most states. In some states, redistricting is done by an independent commission, but that’s a rarity. According to Ballotpedia, the GOP has a trifecta in 23 states, compared to the 15 by Democrats.
In a bid to break their dominance over redistricting, the Democrats have introduced HR 1 or the For The People Act. Amongst other things, the bill bans partisan gerrymandering and state-level voting restrictions, which would make it harder for the GOP to limit voting rights. So naturally, the party filibustered the bill in the Senate. TargetSmart CEO Tom Bonier told Mother Jones, “Absent the passage of HR1, the GOP is poised to gerrymander their way to a House majority.”;
If HR 1 is passed, it would abolish partisan gerrymandering by state governments in favor of independent commissions. It also invalidates existing maps that have the intent or effect of unduly favoring or disfavoring one political party over another. This is an issue that has to be fixed in Congress because as the Supreme Court ruled in 2019, federal courts cannot review partisan gerrymandering. There is however some hope for Democrats. A stripped-down version of HR1 has been proposed by Sen Joe Manchin. It does get rid of some of the more controversial measures but keeps in the ban on partisan gerrymandering.;

Republicans Can Win The Next Elections Through Gerrymandering Alone
Even if voting patterns remain the same, Republicans could still win more seats in Congress through redistricting
In Washington, the real insiders know that the true outrages are whats perfectly legal and that its simply a gaffe when someone accidentally blurts out something honest.
And so it barely made a ripple last week when a Texas congressman said aloud whats supposed to be kept to a backroom whisper: Republicans intend to retake the US House of Representatives in 2022 through gerrymandering.
We have redistricting coming up and the Republicans control most of that process in most of the states around the country, Representative Ronny Jackson told a conference of religious conservatives. That alone should get us the majority back.
Hes right. Republicans wont have to win more votes next year to claim the US House.
In fact, everyone could vote the exact same way for Congress next year as they did in 2020 when Democratic candidates nationwide won more than 4.7m votes than Republicans and narrowly held the chamber but under the new maps that will be in place, the Republican party would take control.
If Republicans aggressively maximize every advantage and crash through any of the usual guardrails and they have given every indication that they will theres little Democrats can do. And after a 2019 US supreme court decision declared partisan gerrymandering a non-justiciable political issue, the federal courts will be powerless as well.
How The Republicans Can Win The White House In 2016
The Republican Party finds itself in an odd place heading into the 2016 presidential election. Theyve made tremendous gains at the state level under President Obama, hold a near-unbreakable majority in the House, and now control the Senate as well.
But theyve come up short by a significant margin in the last two presidential elections, where turnout is higher and the electorate is more diverse, and have plenty going against them in the next one.
Presidential elections are unpredictable and it often appears that one party can’t lose until it does. Democrats bounced back from three demoralizing blowout losses to win in 1992 against an incumbent, President George H.W. Bush, who seemed unbeatable earlier in his presidency. Republicans could do the same in 2016.
So what does the GOP have to do to finally crack the White House? These are some broad theories on how they win:
Cut Into the Democratic Base
The guiding principle behind a number of Republican candidates is that the party can only win when it reverses its losing margins with Democratic-leaning groups. That means winning converts among the most important planks of President Obamas winning coalition young voters, minorities, and single women.

Ruby:Mom!! What the heck!? You said you wouldn’t be like dad!
Summer:And you didn’t tell me you were bringing your father home. I wasn’t prepared.
Ruby:What!? I didn’t- *opens door*
Jaune:H-Hi, again~ *waves*
Ruby:…*squints* Oh my gods.
Summer:Hello Jaune. You have a very nice face.
Jaune:Thank you. I can see where Ruby gets her smile.
Summer:And I can see where she gets her tastes in people. Come on in. I’ll make snacks.
Jaune:Thanks for having me. *walks to the kitchen*
Ruby:How could I not notice this…
Summer:*leans in real close* Love is blind, and apparently shaggy blonde.

9 days of Lancaster Day 9: Firsts
Ruby:(Don’t over complicate this. Don’t do it. Just relax… relax…)
Jaune:Uh Rubes?
Ruby:Y-Yes!?
Jaune:Are you gonna hit retry or…
She turns her head and notices they’re on they’re on the ranking screen. When did the match end!? Ruby finally hits continue. Jaune can’t help but chuckle a little as he leans back against Blake’s bed.
Ruby:What’s so funny?
Jaune:You seem a little lost in thought. Thinking of a way of outplaying me?
Ruby:I introduced you to this game. I know your skills.
Jaune:And yet I out rank you.
Ruby:Because you’re such a try hard! I’ve been busy on missions.
Jaune:Yeah that’s fair. It’s nice that you finally have time off. I would’ve thought your team would be knocked out for days. I was little shocked when you said you planned an all day video game date.
Ruby:I begged a little. Also called in a few favors. Weiss just needed a nice place to sleep, Blake is flexible and I became a pouty little sister for Yang.
Jaune:Qualities of a true leader.
Ruby:Shut up! I’m just happy you didn’t procrastinate on any assignments.
Jaune:Pyrrha said she’d add Nora to my training if I did.
Ruby:Yeah that would get me moving too. Soooo you’re really free ?
Jaune:Yep, I’m all yours for the day. Any game you need a partner in, I’ll help you see credits.
Ruby:…And if we get tired of games?
Jaune:We got movies. There’s a couple good ones that came while you were away. Or ones you’ll force me to watch.
Ruby:Stop acting like you don’t like horror.
Jaune:It really isn’t an act. But you planned all this and who am I to not appreciate that.
Ruby:So you’re done for anything?
Jaune:Yep!
Ruby:*red* Even…oh I don’t know, sleeping together?
Jaune’s hands stopped pressing buttons and Ruby managed to send him to the loser screen. It wasn’t intentional but a small boost of confidence as she turned her head right to see him looking at her with a flushed red face.
Ruby:Don’t make it weird!
Jaune:Me!? What!? You just- context please! Was that a ploy to win!?
Ruby:I’m not that petty! Look I just…. *plays with hair* thought maybe we should discuss that idea. We’ve been together for almost five months and it’s been really great! It’s felt a little weird though that you never seemed to make a move or bring up “that”
Jaune: Do I really give off that sorta vibe? I had no idea.
Ruby:I’m not saying you do, but between how you used to try flirting with Weiss and our casual conversations, it didn’t feel like you weren’t into more intimate things. Ugh, I really don’t know what I’m saying at this point! I guess a part of me felt a little confused and worried if you weren’t interested in me in that way at all.
Jaune:Oh I have had thoughts, but i know how to keep them to myself.
Ruby:….
Jaune:*blushing* That’s normal and decent behavior! Why, are you interested?
Ruby:Of course! I organized I room date to give you the opportunity to-
Saying it aloud made it sound way more embarrassing and forward than Ruby meant for it to be. And pulled her hood over her head and huffed in defeat as she stared down at her lap.
Jaune:….Does your team know about this?
Ruby:Blake does. She said her bed is fair game. Those are actually my sheets right now. As far as Yang is concerned, I asked for privacy so we can have our first kiss.
Jaune:We’ve made out a bunch of times.
Ruby:I’m very sneaky when I want to be. Look, I get this is a lot I’m dropping on you and we don’t have to do anything today. I just…really wanted to know where I stand with you and to let you know that…I’m okay with going further with you. *crimson* I really like you. A lot.
Jaune:…This question may sound a little dumb all things considering, but I have to hear it. I get that you’re okay with it, but do you want to have sex with me? As in your are looking forward to it?
Ruby:…Very much, yeah.
Jaune:….Hold on just one moment.
He took her scroll and walked out of the room. Ruby wanted to scream until she passed out. Why did she start this conversation!? Was it too forward!? They were having such a good time before this moment. Why did he leave!?
So many thoughts bombarded her brain and they didn’t stop when she heard the door unlock again. Her scroll flew into her lap so she knew it was him. Seconds later, a box of condoms fell into her lap. Her brain took a moment to process what she was looking at then her head immediately jerked up to see Jaune bright red and also avoiding her gaze.
Jaune: Nora may have helped me find female ones too, as well as emergency pills.
Ruby:Ah, I see. How proactive. Well…*twiddles fingers* Weiss may have helped me find a pay for some quality meds awhile go.
Jaune:Huh, imagine that.
Ruby:Yeeeep. Jaune, can you look at me?
Jaune:*makes eye contact*
Ruby:Soooo are we…still playing video games right now?
Jaune:…..
xxxxxx
Blake:*eating noodles*
Yang:You think the date is going well?
Weiss:Yes. *eating cake*
Yang:Really think she’ll go for a kiss?
Blake:Ruby can dive into a Nevermore’s mouth. She’ll find the willpower to kiss a boy.
Yang:….Maybe I should call t-
Weiss:Yang, as a younger sister myself, I appreciate my older sister. However, if she interrupted me on a date with a call or coming home early, I’m going to be mad for a very long time. Eat your burger and relax. Ruby will be fine.
Yang: I know, ugh! It’s like I’m antsy for her. Gods, if I’m like this now then I don’t know if I can handle her asking about sex.
Blake and Weiss:Don’t worry about that now.

9 days of Lancaster Day 5: Hidden Relationship
Ruby:*washing plates*
Jaune:*dirty* Hey there stranger. Hard at work I see.
Ruby:I lost a bet with Nora and this is my punishment. What’s with the smudges?
Jaune:Yang wanted to help me “improve my combat abilities.”
Ruby:Ooof, I’m sorry.
Jaune:I’m not immediately sore like last time so that’s something.
Ruby grabs a glass and fills it with water for him.
Jaune:Awww, my heart. *grabs it*
Ruby:Hush you goober. I know Yang’s training all too well. I’m surprised you’re walking.
Jaune:Well y’know, recently I’ve been getting in good stamina training.
Ruby:*red*…Is that so? Hadn’t noticed. My training is always pretty vigorous.
Jaune:Oh I’ve noticed. Guess I still have a long way to go. Although…I’m sure you’d have a little more trouble with my “training”
Ruby:Pfft, oh really? I think I’m pretty fit in case you haven’t noticed!
Jaune:Oh I’ve noticed.
Ruby:…..*flicks water on him*
Jaune:Ah!
Ruby:I couldn’t think of a comeback. You’re filthy anyways. I’m just washing you up a bit.
Jaune:If that’s the case…I think there’s a smudge around my chin I can’t quite get off.
Ruby didn’t know if it was herself, Nora, or Yang that has influenced Jaune, but it was a diabolical blessing. The young knight approached her innocently with a smile. Ruby double checked their surroundings then preceded to gently rub her thumb across his chin. Of course, Jaune took the opportunity to pull her in by her lower back. Ruby gladly became ensnared in his trap, going as far to stand up on her toes and give a sweet, mischievous kiss.
The two of them giggled as they continued peppered each other with growing affection. If only more of these moments could come by frequently. Unfortunately, privacy is hard in a group of nine, and the both of them wished to revel in this growing relationship away from others. Not forever of course, but long enough to make it feel personal and intimate. Although if the others knew, they’d probably tell them intimacy is far from a problem.
Ruby felt her body hold him closer as their kiss became…less innocent. Jaune was seconds away from putting her on the countertop when the click of a doorknob snapped them back to reality. An instant petal burst brought Ruby back to washing dishes while Jaune focused on his water as Yang walked in.
Yang:Hey party people! Ruby, you should’ve seen Jaune during our match. Gotta admit, he’s getting some moves. Almost pinned me a few times.
Ruby:Wow, that’s high praise. Practice must be paying off.
Jaune:*refilling water*
Yang:Someone’s thirsty.
Ruby:Pfft, I’ll say. He’s all red too.
Jaune:W-What can I say? Things got pretty heated, literally.
Ruby:Please don’t singe him. We can’t explain that to Nora.
Yang:He will be fine. All he needs is a little rest and a well deserved bath. Also isn’t Nora supposed to be on dish duty?
Ruby:I lost a bet, which sucks because I wanted to look around Mistral a bit.
Yang:I’ll take over for ya. You suck at drying anyways.
Ruby:Hey!
Yang:I’m gonna put my things away first. Jaune, hit the showers. You smell like smoke. *walks off*
Jaune:Gee, I wonder why!
He waves goodbye at Ruby and heads to the bathroom. Honestly it was a miracle he didn’t singe anything. As he walked in a closed the door, a sudden gust went by him. Jaune turned around and was greeted with a swift hand over his mouth from Ruby while the other quickly locked the door behind him. She slowly moved her hand and smiled.
Ruby: I lied about Mistral
Jaune: You are gonna get me killed.
Ruby tried not to laugh. She ran the sink and turned on the bath for more noise.
Ruby:Gotta make opportunities where you can. Besides…*red* You got me a little riled up.
Jaune:I mean…fair but- my life.
Ruby:You’ll be fine. I’ll sneak out after I learn about this so called “training” so let’s just focus on us. I can also help you wash up, like any good partner would do. Unless… you don’t want to?
She didn’t even let him respond before taking off her cap and sitting on the sink counter with a wide grin. Ruby held her arms out, inviting him. Despite his protests, Jaune easily walked into the embrace and found his hands back where they were before they were interrupted.
Jaune:Prepare for your workout.
Ruby:Hehe, lead on. I’m happily in your care~

9 days of Lancaster Day 8: Beach Day
Ruby:Jauuuuuune! You ready for next week’s team environmental bonding training!? AKA, the beach!?
Jaune:Umm, yeah. I’m sure it’ll be fun.
Ruby:..Don’t tell me you can’t swim?
Jaune:I can swim fine. Although if I’m honest I’m probably build a sandcastle or something. Maybe read.
Ruby:You sound like Blake. I need you amped! We gotta wipe Yang’s smug look off her face in volleyball.
Jaune:As long as Nora’s on our team.
Ruby:Obviously. Hey, are you already done packing? I didn’t even see you shop.
Jaune:Ren got most of the travel stuff like sunscreen.
Ruby:You owned beach clothes already?
Jaune:I mean…sorta? I have trunks and y’know, a cozy top.
Ruby:Like a divine shirt?
Jaune:More like a…beach hoodie.
Ruby:Jaune, it’s gonna be in the triple digits when we go.
Jaune:I’ll live.
Ruby:Yeah in an emergency room! What’s with you? Do you have a weird scar or something?
Jaune:No. I…*rubs arm* I don’t know. Being shirtless really isn’t my thing. Never had the confidence.
Ruby:Really? I mean i get it; especially before training but you look good! Nora calls you Mr. Muscle.
Jaune:Hehe, yeah it’s a wild thing. I know it’s in my head but after getting picked on when I was younger I kinda became self conscious. Hoodies have always felt cozier after that.
Ruby:….Wanna make a deal?
Jaune:A deal?
Ruby:I actually have been trying to gain more confidence in myself and shake off some awkwardness. I was planning on wearing this older one piece I own. But, there’s also a part of me that wants to try a bikini for the first time. If you step out of your comfort zone then I will do it too. We can be awkward together.
Jaune:I bet you would look nice in a one piece though.
Ruby:….
Jaune:..Yeah, that didn’t sound quite right coming from your boyfriend in this situation.
Ruby:I got the sentiment, but yeah. Not your finest moment. *holds his hands* Let’s take the plunge together. We can even be a little gross and get matching outfits. *smiles*
Jaune:Haha. That would be something, wouldn’t it? I…eh, why not? Sure, let’s try.
Ruby:Yussss!
xxxxxx
The fateful day arrived. After lots of second guessing himself, Jaune stood on corse hot sand underneath a recently planted umbrella . His hoodie was nowhere in sight and his new white swimming trunks fit nicely. All he knew about the design was the at the right leg had a gray pail pouring water out of it like one of those watering buckets.
???: Nora might be onto something with Mr. Muscle.
He turned around to see a red reaper holding her beach bag. More importantly, on her was the bikini she picked in secret. It was the average cut for a standard bikini, with the top being green on the straps and upper rim. Meanwhile, the cups and bottom were bright red with a few yellowish specks. Jaune quickly realized Ruby was a red as the strawberry design she chose.
Ruby:S-So? Any thoughts? How do I look?
Jaune:Edible.
Ruby:!?
Jaune:That’s not- I mean- *covers face*…. You look really nice. Man this hasn’t been my week.
Ruby removed the boy’s hands to get a good look at him. He wasn’t as cut as her but man did he bulk up! Not too much though. Jaune was still pretty lean and Ruby found that wonderful. She moved her arms under his own and gave a gentle hug while her fingers traced his back.
Ruby:If ya ask me, you look, feel, and smell good. I’m one lucky gal.
Jaune:*red* Thanks. I’m pretty lucky too. *hugs her*
Ruby:Well your luck isn’t over. I kinda need your help. *pulls out sunscreen*
Jaune:..You’re really trying give me a heart attack.
Ruby:Hahaha!

Day 1 of 9 Days of Lancaster: Beneath the shade of large and mighty tree. Two people. One boy and one girl are fighting with one another. The girl's small figures dances on the field like she is the embodiment of beauty and grace. While the boy is the exact opposite. His movement is slow and imprecise. Each attack he made against her is easily dodged and blocked. If this was a real fight the small girl would have already won. But they are not fighting the two are practicing with each others honing their skills and techniques.
*clash*
Ruby: Had enough Vomit boy?

Jaune: I'm *wheeze* just getting warmed up. *wheeze*
Ruby: I see, and you being short of breaths is not a sign that you're about to collapse?
Jaune: W-what of course not? *wheeze* I'm perfectly fine.
Ruby: How about we take a break for now?
Jaune: *gasp* yes! Please!
*collapsed on Ruby's shoulded*
*Snore*
