Carlos tells his mom that he wishes he and his dad had TK and Own's father son relationship.
Meanwhile TK has multiple times unfairly called his parents divorce "his dad abandoning the family". Which of course is exactly the way that TK's dad (much more but still not quite fairly) describes TK's grandfather leaving when he was a kid.
I'm pretty sure that Judd saw his dad way less after the divorce than TK. Yet Judd thanks his dad for "always being there for him" even after his dad apologizes for being gone for work (in a similar way to Owen prioritizing helping firefighters after 911 over TK at age 8 ) .
Carlos sees their relationship now, and assumes that's the way it always was. The irony being that TK's relationship with his dad got good at nearly the same age where Carlos's with his dad soured (18, and 17 respectively).
But when Carlos thinks of Owen as a good father it's not about TK at all. It's about that time Carlos spent hours waiting in an interrogation room and when his dad walked through the door he thought he came to rescue him. But in fact his dad had come to interrogate him, say he's bad at his job, and then use some queer dog whistles to imply he's bad at his job BECAUSE he's gay, while of course continuing the nearly decade streak of pretending he doesn't know Carlos is gay so as to shove him back in the closet.
And then Carlos talks to Own, and Own is like surprised that 1. Carlos could ever be in trouble 2. Carlos's dad just wouldn't save him from trouble without asking questions. Then he tells him he's an amazing human, and is good at his job, and then implies he's good at his job for all the reasons his dad thinks he sucks at it. "There should always be a heart behind the badge, and you've got a good one."
Carlos then imprinted on Owen like a baby duck, and didn't see any of the crappy things he did after. My dear sir, when you were kidnapped your dad was looking for you, and Owen was not answering TK's phone calls because he decided as a firefighter he was qualified to take down terrorists. You dad showed up ridiculously early to meet TK's dad. TK's dad showed up two hours late. Also, TK's dad is a terrible influence on Carlos's dad. Carlos's dad never once endangered his son by going undercover BEFORE he met Own strand, but it's like a thing now. Those two morons should be supervised at all times. His wife should not be of earshot from her husband anywhere Own could be.
Side note Andrea better supervise them at the wedding.

Rewatching the 911/911 Lone Star crossover and I am going to explode
Buck starts out shit talking and being competitive with TK then Buck compliments TK after he saved him saying he had "nice moves"
Buck comforts TK when he's upset and offers to do something reckless to help him before telling him, and only him btw, he wants to see him again
TK sees all of this and thinks Buck must be flirting because why wouldn't he but this is EXACTLY how Buck acted when he met Eddie
Someone is reading these situations wrong and I don't think it's TK

The difference between the 911 and Lonestar fandoms is so funny to me.
On one hand, you have Lonestar fans who are dancing, singing, and theorizing about the Tarlos wedding.
Then you’ve got the OG 911 fans, and we’re over here like:
“THE COUCH! THE COLOR THEORY!!”
Another hilarious distinction is that Lonestar fans are like, “please don’t hurt our favs. just let them be happy”
And OG fans are like, “YES! PUT THAT MAN IN A COMA! BURN HIS APARTMENT DOWN!”
