Distal biceps tendon tear
A distal biceps tendon tear is a significant injury that can lead to impaired arm function and discomfort. This injury occurs when the biceps tendon, which attaches to the forearm bone, is either partially or completely torn. Individuals who engage in repetitive overhead activities or heavy lifting are particularly susceptible to this condition. Recognizing the symptoms early on can greatly influence recovery time and treatment options.
The primary symptoms include sudden pain in the elbow, a popping sensation, and weakness in the arm, especially when trying to lift objects. Swift diagnosis through physical examination and imaging tests is crucial in determining the extent of the injury.
Treatment options vary based on the severity of the tear. Minor tears may heal with conservative measures such as rest, ice, and physical therapy, while more severe cases might require surgical intervention to reattach the tendon. This is where the expertise of a specialized orthopedic surgeon comes into play, ensuring that the best possible outcome is achieved.
Rehabilitation following surgery or conservative treatment is an essential part of recovery, helping restore strength and flexibility to the elbow. Engaging in a tailored rehabilitation program can significantly accelerate the healing process, allowing individuals to return to their favorite activities in no time.
If you suspect you have suffered a distal biceps tendon tear or are seeking treatment for related injuries, it's important to consult with a specialist. Early intervention can lead to a better recovery experience and prevent long-term complications. Don't let an injury hold you back—take the first step toward recovery today by contacting our expert team for a thorough assessment.
Hip replacement
Hip replacement surgery is a transformative procedure designed to alleviate pain and restore mobility for individuals suffering from severe hip conditions. Whether due to arthritis, injury, or degenerative diseases, the hip joint can significantly impact daily life.
This surgical option involves replacing the damaged or diseased hip joint with an artificial implant, providing enhanced stability and reduced pain. Many patients experience remarkable improvements in their quality of life, allowing them to return to hobbies and activities they once enjoyed.
Furthermore, advancements in technology have made hip replacement surgeries more precise and minimally invasive. With shorter recovery times and less post-operative discomfort, patients can often begin physical therapy just days after their procedure.
If you are struggling with hip pain that affects your daily routine, consult a specialist today to explore whether hip replacement is the right option for you. Regaining your freedom to move could be just a conversation away!
Knee replacement
Knee replacement surgery is a transformative procedure designed to alleviate chronic pain and restore mobility for individuals suffering from severe knee conditions, including osteoarthritis and traumatic injuries. @remotewatch HQ’s Election Countdown Day 6: Law Students
Hand to god, it began purely as an academic partnership. Splitting note-taking responsibilities and checking each other’s work, that sort of thing. Sure, Jack was absurdly pretty, but the addictive spike in positive instructor feedback after you’d been reviewing each other’s writing for a bit had much more to do with it. When you started fucking after your study sessions, then before, then doing as much as you could before the ten minute break timer went off between subject blocs, it was pretty easy to justify. Literally getting fucked to sleep six nights a week made it nigh impossible to stay up worrying about what concepts would screw you over on an exam. The more time you spent letting Jack’s tongue lave over you and the longer you let him say he needed to coax you on his fingers before stretching you out over his dick like taffy, the more you struggled to worry about much of anything.
If you had to put a date on it, Halloween was around when you realized a change was going to be necessary.
The whole night had actually been going swimmingly: an Anything But Human dress code for your friends’ potluck was by far the least contrived of the season, and you’d started designing your honeybee costume the second you got wind of it. At your request that he please select a corporeal, non political costume for one party, Jack grabbed some wire, pliers, and black yarn from your craft basket and whipped up a cat ear headband to match the first all black outfit his eyes landed on before he’d headed over.
You, on the other hand, spent the last hour leading up to the party thoroughly saturating two powder puffs in gold spray glitter for your behind the knee curbiculae, leaving him to meticulously glue gold rhinestone smatterings to the black velvet of your dress and taking care to push his head back whenever it dipped too close to the fresh E6000.
Things only started to go south when you had to bend down to draw on Jack’s whiskers with your eyeliner. His patience lasted almost long enough for you to reapply your lipstick and kiss the tip of his nose pink before one finger was curling under your swooping low, gold marabou-trimmed neckline.
“I’m glad I didn’t let you talk me into going commando with a catsuit-“ he murmured, nuzzling his nose over your chest “it would be a real problem when you look this good.”
Soon enough, your legs were hooked securely over his shoulders and any lingering stressors were steadily eroded away with each full-weighted, eyelid-fluttering thrust of Jack’s hips.
When you eventually get out the door, it’s already sunset, and the fading daylight reveals comically dense patches of your pollen glitter reaching from Jack’s shoulders clear down to his navel. That good for nothing spray adhesive hadn’t held shit in place; you’d be amazed to discover any sparkle left behind your knees the way he’s bathed in it.
“This is exactly what I’m talking about! We look like a couple of perverts, and we’re late!” you frantically swat at his chest trying to clear some of the glitter, only working it deeper into the weave of his sweater.
“We’ll fit right in!”
“No, I’m serious! We really need to set some ground rules or something because this is getting ridiculous.”
✨✨✨✨✨
I’m sure you’ve all seen these by now 🤭. I know we talk a lot of the Harris Walz campaign specifically but Jack makes a good point- there are so many other candidates and propositions on your ballot that are just as important. For example, it is vital for us to secure as many GOP seats as possible. Vote.org has a great feature where you can enter your information and get a preview of your ballot to prep for when you vote for real.
Stay informed and stay mobilized, my beautiful heauxs! 👏🏽🩵💋

This might be a bit of a weird question as I know this isn't a drawing blog, but do you happen to have any pointers for finding good reference photos for drawing cane users? I'm having trouble finding interesting/dynamic poses, and the vast majority of pose generator sites I've found don't even show people with mobility aids. Stock photo sites and google are also limited in their usefulness, mostly giving me very stiff poses. If you have any tips that would be great.
hello dearest asker!
I tried to be an artists once upon a time so let me direct you to some things that might help! Here is an excellent post written up by @deoidesign shows how motion and functionality with a cane works. Here is a post by @sparrowsocks on the cane design itself and the practicality of it. Here is another "How To" guide that is a bit more simple but covers how the hand changes with different handles.
Here is a reference of hands gripping cylindrical objects that I think might be a little helpful. Grabbing a cane or just moving it are all things that go into it too.
If you're going for more a historical setting, Here is a library of sources of historical walking sticks and canes. That source is more novelty canes and not for practicality for a mobility aid, but Here is another source for History and it has more practical canes.
Also things like old photo rolls when film was just becoming what we know today could be something helpful too.

[Image Description: A black and white picture roll of two sets with twelve frames in each. The first roll is a side angle of a man holding a can and walking then taking a right turn and walking back. The second roll is a backside angle of the man walking with the cane and then taking a right turn and walking back.]
We can see for example in the first two frames how the opposite leg moves with the cane.
And of course we have more photos from the Victorian era of men with canes. Granted canes were used largely for fashion but a lot of people did use them for balance and such too. Also they're good references for poses while holding a cane.
Another thing I can recommend is just watching videos of someone using a cane. Look up disabled YouTubers or people who do physical therapy videos and they show largely how movement with a cane should look and more.
If you're looking for dynamic poses I would recommend looking up cosplayers or models who are disabled and use canes. But also looking up disabled actors that use canes or similar mobility aids and go through their filmography is another good way to see references. A lot of disabled people who are artists also post their own photos and videos for art references specifically too.
One last thing is how the character holds their body and what type of cane they need is gonna depend on how they are disabled. Working that out and doing more research is gonna change some things. But also even though there is a proper way to use a cane, some people use canes in different ways to suit their needs and comfort. The biggest example in media is House from House MD and while Hugh Laurie isn't disabled, he does a pretty accurate portrayal of someone using a cane in an alternative way. I personally (when I was getting fitted for one) would use my cane very much as House does, and other people have said much the same.
Hopefully this helps in some way and your fellow artists may be able to throw more help in the notes. Happy drawing!

How bout a ZZZ? Ask Belle x cunning hares reader
Reader fights using half of a mech(whichever mech you feel is appropriate) they found in a hollow
I had a blast writing this, though I spent more time on the Mech than the interaction so if it feels a bit off compared to my usual, sorry!
Now! Your Wish Is My Command!
“Combat Rigs like this one were used-” you began to say as you adjusted the rotors of the cooling unit, getting a shock in the process from the left over processed ether, causing you to exclaim “agh! Mother-” before letting out a deep breath and starting over.
“Combat Rigs like this one were used early on to explore Hollow Zero back when it first formed. You’ve run into some of the tech descended from these in the Companion Hollows and its distant cousins in Belobog Construction. Though when these were first made; Ether Corruption wasn’t something very well known, neither was Ether Shielding, at least not on a large scale. Not to mention these things were slapped together in a couple of months with some Shoddy but aggressive A.I. Cores and a lot of the safety features in both of them weren’t exactly up to snuff, especially with the extremely volatile Ether Reactors that, when they got too hot, could melt the entire thing into a ball of molten slag with pilots still inside or A.I.’s programming breaking and hijacking the rig. So, over time as boots on the ground got more and more concerned about the Rig’s going rogue and we learned more and more about hollows, they were phased out. Replaced by heavy, non-piloted machinery with better made and adapted A.I., and small, highly trained groups of people guided by Bangboo.” You explained as you continued to run maintenance on your Rig.
“Then how’d you get your hands on one?” Belle asked, still craning her neck up to look at you.
“Found it in a Companion Hollow not too far into The Hollow Zero Exclusion Zone, from the looks of it, The A.I. Core broke and went on a rampage and flew out of Hollow Zero before the Reactor ran out of fuel and it shut down in mid air, causing it to crash. I had to rip off pretty much all of what remained of the plating and replace a lot of the underlying hardware due to Ether Corruption. The A.I. core was pretty much unscathed, and that’s been a headache and a half to try and work on. It's a stubborn piece of scrap.” you shouted down as you pulled out the damaged Ether Canister and looked it over, seeing if you were going to be able to salvage it.
“This massive thing can fly!?” Belle exclaimed, shocked.
“It could, without the A.I. Core I’m locked out of a ton of the subroutines, including the Flight Check.” you answered as you walked down the catwalk.
“Though considering the Payload this thing could carry, that may be a good thing. Going out in a giant ball of exploding fire sounds as cool to me as the next guy but I’d prefer not to have what was left of my body buried in a matchbox.” you stated as you walked past Belle, still examining the canister.
“What does that mean?” Belle asked, more than a bit concerned for her NOT CRUSH.
“Well, if I got this thing fully loaded with the max it could carry and still be able to go airborne and accounting for the Reactor… that would be around the equivalent of around a megaton of TNT exploding over the sky’s of New Eridu. More than enough to take a sizable chunk out of the city if it was on the ground.” you answered before placing the canister on the table, and pulling out a set of tools.
“That’s… terrifying.” Belle muttered, a chill running down her spine.
“Yup, that’s why I only use the heavy artillery this model was known for if absolutely necessary.” you stated as you continued to work on the canister.
“I know I’ll probably regret asking… but what does that mean?” Belle asked.
“This model was made as a form of highly mobile artillery piece, designed for the express purpose of cracking heavily armored targets with heavy ordnance from any spot on the field. Because of this, it could launch missiles, rockets, and other forms of munitions with little to no modification. It was the swiss army knife of high calibers, explosives, and magnetically accelerated weaponry.” you answered simply, putting your tools down and turning to face Belle.
“Now then Proxy time for me to ask a question, why the sudden interest?” you inquired as you looked Belle dead in the eyes.
“Can’t a girl like giant killer robots on her own time?” Belle clumsily retorted.
“Not you, one half of The Legendary Proxy Phaethon.” you stated clearly.
“Then could you at least ask a girl about her ulterior motives over a bowl of noodles?”
“Are you trying to ask me out?” you asked, eyes narrowing.
“Yes.” Belle declared, tossing all subtlety to the wind.
“Are you buying?” you asked, tempted.
“Half.” Belle answered with a shrug.
“Hmm. Let me get cleaned up and changed, give me a bit.” You said as you walked past Belle and towards the Cunning Hare’s main building where the Showers were.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You closed the door behind you before walking forward, turning down the hall, and then leaning back on the wall before sliding onto the ground.
You were NOT prepared for this.
Quickly, you fished your phone out of your pocket and dialed the best person you knew for this kind of thing.
Nicole Demara.
The second you saw her name you were already calling her.
“C’mon, c’mon, pick up Nicole.” you muttered as the dial tone rang.
“Hey there! You’ve reached Nicole Demara, Leader of the Cunning Hares! If you have a job for us, say what it is at the beep! If you don’t, BUZZ OFF!!” Nicole’s pre-recorded voicemail shouted at you.
“NICOLE HELP! BELLE ASKED ME ON A DATE! WHAT DO I DO!?” you whisper yelled into your phone in a panic.
Oh god what were you going to do?
You couldn’t just blast your way out of this with rockets and explosives!
Not that you wanted to after all Belle was… Belle.
And you were a Grease Monkey who works with a dangerous robot that can blow a hole in the city.
How in the world were you going to survive this?

So, my brain did not shut up at all last night, so I’m gonna go ahead and subject you to the horror I created instead of sleeping that is D&D-accurate(-ish) Ruby Rose

First things first—the caveats. What do I mean by accurate(-ish)? Well, in order to truly build Ruby to be the utter nightmare that she is, we need to accept a few…house rules.
Rule 1) All characters start with a bonus Feat. This is a carry-over from D&D2024, and is to help flesh out the character beyond their basic race and background feats.
Rule 2) All RWBY characters start with an Epic Boon. This is a stand-in for Semblances, as reading through them shows they really are just Semblances codified for D&D.
Rule 3) Weapons and Features can be adjusted for rule of cool. If something isn’t supposed to work that way by the rules as written, but it’s cool as hell, it’s now the rule.
Now, with those three little rules out of the way going forward, let’s talk about our lovely little Red Reaper~
First things first—if we’re going to make Ruby, we have to prioritize speed above all else, because speed is the name of the game with her. Because of this, we’re going to be a little cheaty and make her a Tabaxi—or at the very least, give her the Tabaxi’s Feline Agility so she can double her walking speed. Along with that, we’re going to give her the starting Feat of Mobile, so she gets a +10 to that speed, and then the Epic Boon of Speed, which gives her an additional +30.
Which means at Level 1, Ruby has a base Speed of 70ft, 140 with Feline Agility.
We can get faster, though, because that’s just the base stats—let’s talk about Classes now. After doing a bit of analyzing and planning, I came to the following build: Fighter (11), Monk (2), Rogue (2), Warlock (5). The way I argue this is Fighter/Rogue is Ruby’s base class during Beacon, before getting Warlock when she awakens her Silver Eyes, tapping into that Celestial Patron. She picks up some hand-to-hand training in Haven for Monk, some additional levels in Warlock as she learns to harness her Silver Eyes, and then everything else is Fighter.
So, now that I’ve said my piece, what does this do for Ruby? Well, by taking two levels in Monk, she can get Unarmored Movement, which adds another 10 feet to her speed. And with two in Rogue, she gets access to Cunning Action, which means she can take the Dash action as a Bonus Action on each of her turns. That means, with just those four levels, Ruby would have a base Speed of 80ft, Dash of 160ft, Double-Dash of 320ft, and FA Speed of 640ft. And if she could get her hands on some Boots of Speed? 1,280 feet traveled in only six seconds.
That’s 145 miles an hour.
Suffice to say we’ve got the speed-side of Ruby’s design down, so what’s the rest of this for? Well, the other half of her whole shtick—killing Monsters. As a Celestial Warlock, she’d have access to spells like Sacred Flame, Guiding Bolt, Daylight, and Eldritch Blast—Thunder Step, Misty Step, and Spider Climb for mobility—and Hold Person for Cinder in particular. She would also get Invocations, such as Armor of Shadows, letting her cast Mage Armor at will whenever, so a constant 13 + Dex, and Eldritch Smite, to really pump the damage into her attacks.
But with Warlock (5), you can get an extra nasty feature—and for this, we must remember Rule 3.
Because at Level 5 Warlock, and with the Pact of the Blade, you can get Thirsting Blade, which lets you attack twice, instead of once, on your attack action. Now, according to the rules as written, Extra Attack features do not stack on each other—to which I say bullshit. If the rules didn’t want me to break the game, they shouldn’t left the window open to begin with—and besides, it’s technically not Extra Attack, but something else. Ergo, it’s allowed, at least in this hypothetical bullshit Ruby D&D build world.
So, with Thirsting Blade, you get an Extra Attack. With Fighter (11), you get two Extra Attacks. That means a total of four possible attacks on the Attack action—eight if you pump an Action Surge into it. But that’s not all, because we also have Feats! With Great Weapon Master (and with a scythe that huge of course Ruby is a great weapon master), if you crit or kill on an attack, you can use your bonus action for another Extra Attack. And as Champion, that crit potential goes up from 5% to 10% every roll. So that’s a potential of five attacks a turn—nine if you’re very lucky—and with Polearm Master, you’re guaranteed it with the butt-end attack!
All this, from a girl moving faster than a car on the freeway, and able strike and dash off without provoking any opportunity attacks at all.

And so there we have her—Ruby Rose, Level 20 Huntress. I will admit to a bit of stat fibbing on my part, but only so much as bumping up stats—it felt wrong to me for her Intelligence to be lower than a +1 considering how gifted she is, and I put Wis at 13…because that’s what you need for Multiclassing into Monk. Also, while Scythes (Glaives) use Str for attack and damage, I did go ahead and override the features so they used her Dex instead…because, honestly—tell me that doesn’t look Dexy as shit!
…I did keep her Str at 16 as an extra argument for why she’s so Dexy with a heavy weapon if need be.
But that’s Ruby! Any questions?

Drawing Walking Cane Users!
Have you just gotten into fanart for that old medical drama? Maybe you have an OC who uses a cane. Or maybe you just want to draw yourself or your friends using your mobility aids! Whatever the reason, you're about to draw someone using a cane! Prefacing all of this with I am not an expert, and am only now an intermittent cane user, though I was full time for several years.
First, if you're designing the character yourself, figure out why the character uses their mobility aid! This is a rude question to ask a stranger or someone else about their character, but for your own OCs it can help you decide what level and style of support the character needs for getting around! Common, but absolutely not exclusive, reasons a character might need to use a cane include injury, congenital limb difference, arthritis, fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, inner ear balance issues/vertigo, cerebral palsy, or aging! Knowing the reason your character uses a cane can inform the type of cane, frequency, and other details about them beyond just "he's the cane guy"!
Types of canes include:

Each has their different uses, but for a majority of uses you'll probably see functional grip or offset handle canes. I used both, but preferred the latter. Characters may only need the quad cane or hemi walker if their ability to balance with a single point cane is impaired, or if they need the cane to be upright and ready for them when needed. Foam handles, like on the offset and quad canes pictured, are useful for frequent/full-time cane users to reduce fatigue on the hands. In my experience, C canes are the worst for hand pain.
Next, you need to draw the cane at the right height! This is why I made this post in the first place, many people don't know the proper height for using a cane! Many canes are adjustable or can be purchased at a specific custom height for use.

This isn't the best graphic, but should get the point across well. For basically all cane types and uses (there are exceptions, but they're rare) the correct height is right at the crotch/midpoint of the hip/relaxed wrist height. The arm using it should be relaxed, and not need to be bent. You shouldn't have to lean to use it, or be unable to bend your arm. Correct cane night promotes the best walking posture and prevents strain injuries on the arm that is assisting.
Lastly, the cane should be used opposite the injured/weak leg. Sometimes this isn't applicable, for example if the reason for cane use isn't leg-based, but either way it should be used on the strongest side, opposite where support is needed.
Hope this helps you in designing and drawing characters with canes! Certainly there's exceptions to everything I said, and real people don't always have access to the best medical devices nor do real people always follow the proper guides for using them, but characters don't have free will!
side note that is only a bit relevant: characters can be like people and have varying levels of support needed day to day. maybe a character uses crutches one day, a cane the next, and is fully ambulatory another, but sometimes needs wheelchair support during a flare who knows! this post is about canes tho. I was a full time cane user from 2017-2019 and now only use one intermittently. When I was a cane user about 60% of the time I used a 5'6" walking stick! Sometimes you need other supports!

Stepping Forward - Spencer Reid

₊‧⁺˖⋆ Masterlist ⋆˖⁺‧₊
Summary: Spencer Reid, recovering from a knee injury, finds strength and support in his physical therapist, Y/N, as they forge a deep bond through his rehabilitation journey.
The sterile white walls of the rehabilitation center seemed to close in on Spencer Reid as he adjusted his glasses nervously. The scent of disinfectant was overpowering, but it was the constant reminder of his own vulnerability that made him uneasy. His knee ached, the phantom pain a cruel reminder of the bullet that had shattered his dreams and left him fighting to regain mobility.
"Dr. Reid, your physical therapist will be with you shortly," the receptionist said, her voice brimming with practiced cheerfulness as she left the room.
As he waited, Spencer's thoughts drifted to the countless unsolved cases and the ever-growing pile of books he had wanted to read. Would he ever return to the field? Would he ever walk without the aid of crutches or, even worse, a wheelchair?
Just then, the door opened, and in walked Y/N, the physical therapist assigned to him. She had a calming presence, her eyes warm and compassionate, her smile genuine and reassuring.
"Dr. Reid, I'm Y/N. I'll be assisting you with your rehabilitation," she said softly, her voice as soothing as a gentle breeze.
Spencer blushed slightly, his heart rate increasing at her presence. He was used to being the one with all the answers, the one who could rattle off facts and statistics without hesitation. But now, as Emily had said, he felt as though his IQ of 187 had been slashed to 60.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N," he replied, his voice portraying a hint of nervousness.
Y/N smiled warmly, sensing his discomfort and anxiety. "Don't worry, Dr. Reid. We'll take this one step at a time," she reassured him, her voice filled with empathy and understanding.
Over the next hour, Y/N conducted a thorough assessment of Spencer's knee, carefully examining its range of motion, strength, and stability. She explained each test and procedure in detail, answering all of Spencer's questions and addressing his concerns with patience and compassion.
As she guided him through a series of gentle exercises, Y/N's gentle touch and encouraging words helped to alleviate Spencer's anxiety, making him feel more at ease and confident in his ability to recover.
Over the next few weeks, Y/N worked tirelessly with Spencer, guiding him through a series of exercises designed to strengthen his knee and improve his mobility. But it wasn't just her professional expertise that made a difference; it was her unwavering support and encouragement that truly set her apart.
"Alright, Spencer, let's try taking a few steps without the crutches today," Y/N suggested one day, her eyes filled with determination and confidence.
Spencer hesitated, uncertainty clouding his features. But Y/N was there, her hand gently resting on his arm, her presence a source of strength and reassurance.
"Trust me, you can do this," she whispered, her voice filled with unwavering belief.
With a deep breath, Spencer took his first tentative steps, his knee protesting with each movement. But with Y/N by his side, offering encouragement and support, he pushed through the pain, his determination unwavering.
"See, I told you could do it," Y/N said, her eyes sparkling with pride as she wrapped her arm around his waist, helping him maintain his balance.
Spencer blushed, a warm feeling spreading through his chest at her praise. He had always been fiercely independent, reluctant to ask for help or admit his vulnerabilities. But Y/N's unwavering support and caring nature made him feel safe and valued, allowing him to open up and embrace his recovery journey.
As the weeks turned into months, Spencer and Y/N celebrated countless small victories together. From completing challenging exercises to taking his first steps without assistance, each milestone was a testament to his determination and resilience.
"You're doing amazing, Spencer," Y/N would often say, her eyes filled with admiration and pride.
And Spencer couldn't help but blush, his heart swelling with gratitude and affection. He had never met anyone like Y/N, someone who cared so deeply and selflessly, someone who believed in him even when he struggled to believe in himself.
One evening, after a particularly grueling session, Y/N surprised Spencer with a small treat, a chocolate-frosted doughnut with rainbow sprinkles.
"Today marks six months since your surgery, Spencer," Y/N said, her eyes shining with pride as she handed him the doughnut.
Spencer blushed, a warm feeling spreading through his chest at her thoughtful gesture. He had come a long way since that fateful day, and he knew that he owed it all to Y/N's unwavering support and caring nature.
"Thank you, Y/N," Spencer said, his voice filled with gratitude and affection.
As he savored the treat, Spencer realized that his journey was far from over. There were still challenges ahead, still hurdles to overcome. But with Y/N by his side, he knew that he could face anything, his determination unwavering, his spirit unbroken.
And as he looked into Y/N's eyes, her presence a source of strength and reassurance, Spencer knew that he had found something truly special, a connection that transcended words, a bond that would endure the test of time.
For in Y/N, Spencer had found not only a physical therapist but also a friend, a confidant, a source of inspiration and support. And as they continued on their journey together, celebrating each small victory, each milestone achieved, Spencer realized that sometimes, the most profound connections are forged in the face of adversity, proving that love, in all its forms, has the power to heal, to inspire, to transform.
And as they stepped forward, hand in hand, their hearts intertwined, Spencer knew that he had found his anchor, his guiding light, his reason to believe.

The Big Guide to Humans: Mating — Reproduction, Sexuality, Genitalia, and Sexual Contact
In its basic unassisted sense, human reproduction requires one male and one female (see sex and gender; it is recommended to read that entry first). Each partner contributes half of the genetic material to create a new human, and that genetic material is roughly half of a copy of their own genes.
A male's internal genitalia produce millions of mobile packets of genetic material in a protein-rich nutrient gel, and the external portion serves as a tool to introduce it deeper into the female's internal genitalia. A female's internal genitalia produce a single packet of genetic material with a starting supply of cell building blocks, and offers a space for the male's mobile packets to meet and fuse with it, a process called fertilization. If this happens, the combined genetic information will latch into the female's circulatory system via the wall of this meeting place, and proceed to grow over the next 3/4 of a year into a human baby (see lifespan and development), enclosed within the female, who will become obviously distended. At the end of this time, her body pushes the completed baby out via the path between the internal and external genitalia. The female's external genitalia serve as a gate to this passage. There is a small window of time in which this fertilization is possible; only a few human sleep cycles. If this time is missed, the meeting place will cease preparations to contain a baby and remove its existing preparations, falling briefly fallow until preparing for a new fertilization window. This process takes approximately 28 human sleep cycles, depending on the female and how she has adapted to the local day/night cycle. The preparations-removal time can be uncomfortable for the female; do not be alarmed if you smell blood. In humans, both male and female external genitalia are also connected to the excretory system.
Humans categorize their within-species sexual attractions as being attracted to the same gender as themselves, a different gender (most common), or multiple genders. For some this may be an absolute barrier to an attraction outside of that category; others may consider themselves certain until they feel an unusual attraction to a particularly compelling potential partner. (It is also possible to have no attraction in this way at all.) This is usually, but not always, the same limitation applied to their romantic attractions; though the exceptions and sometimes-not-at-all applies to those as well. Whether a human requires/prefers romance to be involved with sexual contact varies by individual. See flirting for more on determining a human's romantic and/or sexual attraction. For humans whose attractions extend to other sapients, the "gender" barrier may be ignored, or they may (usually unconsciously) estimate how a non-human would map into the human gender chart and find their attractions limited by this assumption.
The rest of this chapter will assume you and a human have agreed to sexual contact. While this is not intended as a sexual manual, it is within this guide's mission to prevent surprises and ensure safe, successful interactions.
Process:
Human reproductive mating requires inserting the male's external genitalia (penis) through the female's external genitalia (vulva) and into the internal (vagina). However, nearly anything that can safely produce similar physical sensations can be enjoyable, and humans will also use their hands, mouths, and specially designed objects for the pleasure of non-reproductive mating.
The penis hangs relatively soft and small between a male's legs when not in sexual use; arousal will cause it to stiffen, enlarge, and stand approximately perpendicular to the body. It is sexually sensitive along its entire length, but particularly at the distal end, which is rounded and may be a different color. The internal genitalia are in a pouch underneath the penis. The pouch is also sexually sensitive, but delicate. The vulva is a series of skin-folds that reveal the entrance to the vagina when separated. The folds, particularly the inner ones, are sexually sensitive, as is the entrance. Arousal causes slight swelling of this area, and the skin here will produce lubricating fluid; do not attempt insertion of anything until adequately slippery. Slightly above the entrance to the vagina is a small, hooded protrusion called a clitoris; this is extremely sexually sensitive to the point that rough contact will cause it to retreat under the hood.
All of these sexual areas can be stroked or lightly pressured (squeezing for the penis, filling/outward pressure for the vagina) for sexual pleasure; the human may request more, less, firmer, faster, etc. In addition, humans also often enjoy stimulation of the nipples (the paired protrusions on their upper torso). Individual humans may also have other sexually-stimulating zones, such as the backs of the ears and neck. Human aggression may or may not extend to sexual contact, some enjoy pinching/being pinched, biting/being bitten, striking/being struck, etc, even to the point of injury. This is something to discuss beforehand and in the moment.
Continued sexual pleasure will eventually cause the human to "climax", which for the male produces that jet of nutrient gel and genetic material, and for the female involves involuntary clenching of muscles in and around the internal genitals. After this, the penis will become soft and possibly painfully sensitive, requiring recovery time before it can stiffen again; whether a female will want to continue (and whether she will climax again) varies.
Humans often enjoy "cuddling" after: a period of quietly resting together skin-to-skin.
Risks:
Hybridization and prevention: Either sex can take reproduction-preventing medication, but it is very rare for human females to produce human/non-human hybrids, owing to the scientific details of reproduction and the immune system. Hybridization is usually the result of a reproduction-capable non-human mating with a human male. If this would be a risk for your species, and the human male is not on preventive medication, he can wear a "condom," a penis-sheathe designed to prevent the dispersion of his genetic material.
Disease: Although inter-species disease risk is low, it is still important for the human to be screened for anything dangerous to you, given the sheer volume and aggressiveness of Terran-native microbes. Humans have a microbiome of bacteria, viruses and fungi on their skin — and, for females, within their internal genitalia — all of which are usually harmless to them. They also have a separate oral microbiome that is considerably more dangerous and should be avoided unless medical has screened and approved it specifically. (Humans can also spread pathogenic microbes to each other by sexual contact, but the non-human risk from those is not particularly more than from the others.)
Fluids: The human male's sexual fluids are usually slightly alkali and the human female's are usually slightly acidic. A condom or similar device can be used for protection from this risk as well. Their mouth fluid is acidic and corrosive regardless of microbiome, belonging to their digestive system.
!! Always, always talk with medical first. They can answer questions about your species-specific risks regarding hybridization, dangerous fluids, or Terran-native microbes. They can do this well in advance of sexual contact or even attraction to specific partners; only the disease screening is specific to individual humans. !!
There is considerable variation in human genitalia: In length and thickness, in curves and angles, in hair presence, in color, in sensitivity. There is also considerable variation in what a human may enjoy or be capable of sexually. And, as the universe has learned, humans are creative. If there is mutual interest but your body cannot do the things described, or if medical has given you dire restrictions, talk to the human about it. Humans live by the Terran saying, "where there is a will, there is a way." Do not assume that mutual enjoyment is impossible.

Through the Shadows: Chapter 24 - Struggles and Support
Pairings: Dean Winchester x Reader
Series Summary: A hunter's Journey through despair and recovery is guided by Dean Winchester's unwavering love, leading her to reclaim her strength, voice and hope for their shared future.
Chapter Summary: Two steps forward & five steps back, that's how it has been feeling for Dean & Y/N.
Warnings: TRIGGER WARNING: Self harm. Depression, anxiety, blood, lots of blood, and panics. Please be cautious before you read this one.
Series Masterlist here!! & Main masterlist here!
Establishing a routine in the bunker was both a challenge, and a lifeline for Y/N. Every day began with waking up, eating, taking medications-tasks she could manage somewhat independently.
However, the real struggle came with physiotherapy, a punishing session designed to help Y/N regain strength and mobility.
Dean and Sam have both been briefed on how to assist with her sessions, and they were quick to set up railings and a soft mat, creating a safe environment for her to practice walking again. The goal seemed simple: to walk from start to finish without help, but for Y/N, it constantly felt like a battle she couldn't win.
Since the coma and the medications, her strength was severely weakened. Even taking a single step was a colossal effort, and progress was torturously slow.
Dean, always encouraging and patient, never pushed Y/N beyond what he believed she could handle. He knew she had the capability, but understood the fragility of her physical and emotional state.
Sam, however, urged Dean to pursue a more assertive approach. He argued that being gentle wasn't helping her progress, it wasn't challenging her, and suggested that Dean push her harder, even if it meant causing temporary discomfort.
Despite his reservations, Dean reluctantly agreed to try and push her harder during their next session, worried that being gentle with her might actually damage her more in the long run.
And when it came to her next session, Dean could feel the anxiety rising as he spoke as gently as he could. "So today, we are going to get you to take three steps before you can rest.
Anxiety welled up inside Y/N's chest as she doubted her ability to meet his expectations. She didn't want to disappoint him, but she feared she would if she couldn't do it.
As soon as she began her first step, her legs were already shaking with effort, muscles burning from the strain. Dean watched her closely, his concern growing, but he followed Sam's advice and gently urged her to continue.
With every step, the pain became more evident on her face, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. She glanced at Dean, hoping for some relief but she was met with a guilt stricken look as he nodded, "You have one more step to go, you can do it."
Determined to make him proud, she pushed herself beyond her limits. But as her foot lifted off the ground, her strength gave out and she collapsed, falling hard onto the mat.
Dean's heart shattered as he rushed to her side, cursing at himself for pushing her too far. He knelt down, pulling her onto his lap gently. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Y/N. I shouldn't have pushed you."
Y/N struggled to catch her breath, tears streaming down her cheeks as sobs racked her body. She felt guilty and embarrassed for not completing what should have been an easy task, and the idea of letting him down shattered her to the core.
Once she regained some compsure, Dean helped her back into the chair. She wiped her tears and pulled out the whiteboard, writing two simple words that nearly broke his heart. "I'm sorry."
His chest tightened with emotion and regret as he read the words, kneeling beside her and grabbing her hand tightly in his own. "No, don't apologize." he whispered, his eyes reflecting his love and concern for her. "You're doing fantastic, and I pushed too hard, this is on me."
He sat with her in silence, holding her hand tightly, kissing the pale skin over and over, a silent promise to never push her like that again.
The next morning, Dean drove you to the doctor's for a checkup, the visit quickly becoming another blow to her fragile spirit.
They insisted that she should be gaining more progress in physiotherapy, and implied that her lack of progress was due to insufficient effort.
Dean clenched his jaw so tight, it nearly hurt. He wanted to punch the doctors in the face, to defend Y/N and bring her out of here, but he held back his anger and held her hand tightly in his own, an attempt to comfort her.
When the doctor suggested that her voice may never return, he refused to accept it. He knew she was trying her best, even if the doctors couldn't see it, her effort was enough.
Back at the bunker, Y/N's thoughts were spiraling out of control, the feeling of not being enough, of not recovering faster weighed down on her like a wet blanket. She felt useless and pathetic, unable to do much of anything for herself, or Dean.
Dean could tell her depression was bad, and he didn't blame her one bit, especially after the doctors made her feel like she wasn't putting any effort in.
He was determined to lift her spirits by preparing her favourite meal and giving her a movie night, praying it would give her some much needed comfort.
Meanwhile, Y/N laid in bed, consumed by a storm of negative thoughts and misery. Unable to bear the chaos of her mind any longer, she pulled herself into her wheelchair and went to the bathroom. In a moment of overwhelming suffering, she found her razors and began hurting herself, the physical pain distracting her from the emotional torture she was wrapped up in.
She was barely aware, lost in her pain, stuck in the deep dark tunnel and she couldn't see the light.
Dean returned moments later to check on Y/N, but when he found the bed empty, panic surged through him. His heart pounded as he searched, finally hearing the soft whimpers from inside the bathroom.
He rushed to the door, banging so hard he was surprised his fists didn't go through the wood. "Y/N? Hey, open the door, please."
Inside, her hearing was muffled-almost like she was drowning underwater. The sounds of her cries were the only thing echoing in her ears.
He continued pounding, and when there was no answer, he could feel himself becoming more desperate. With a burst of frantic strength, Dean stepped back and kicked the door in, eyes immediatly locking on Y/N. His breath caught in his throat, eyes pouring with emotions as he took in her state; covered by blood, new wounds scattered across her arms and legs, sobs wracking through her body.
He wanted to fall apart, bawl his eyes out, he wanted to break down but he forced himself to stay calm and focus on what was important here-Y/N.
Kneeling beside her, he reached out with trembling hands and grabbed her wrist, successfully pulling the razor from her grip and throwing it in the trash. He could feel the tears falling down his face, but he quickly wiped them away, his hand resting on her cheek. "Y/N? You with me?" He asked gently.
She snapped out of her faze, horrified and panicked about what she had done, what he had witnessed. She stared at her wounds in shock and fear as tears poured down her face. She turned towards Dean, noticing the tears in his eyes, her heart breaking at the very sight. She mouthed I'm sorry, over and over again, praying the actual words would come out, but there was nothing but silence.
Dean shook his head and pulled her close towards his chest, hand running through her hair. "Don't apologize sweetheart." he murmured, his voice raw with pain. "I just want to help. Please, let me help you."
She nodded as the tears came down harder, lowering her face to the ground in shame. He was careful and gentle as he wiped the blood from her arms, bandaging up every reminder of the pain she was in. He was extra careful, tender and patient, his heart shattering at every whimper of pain that fell from her lips.
When she was cleaned up, he tucked her into bed and provided her some pain medication, staying closely by her side until she finally fell asleep.
He stood up from the bed and retreated to the bathroom to clean the blood. Alone in the small space, he stared at the reminder of what just happened, what he witnessed, and he allowed his emotions to crash over him. He slid down the wall, tears rushing from his eyes as he placed his head in his hands, pain filling his heart as he thought about the pain she was in, and hating himself for not being able to prevent her suffering.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! Chapter 25 coming soon stay tuned!

I don't love the original Mobile Suit Gundam. I don't think it's aged great. But it's the original, so I've certainly got to give it credit. And there's some fantastic, iconic designs - like this old-school MS-09 Dom.

My Wife got me this kit a little while ago and it's just kind of been sitting in the queue, waiting to be built. Honestly, I was kind of intimidated - it's a huge box.

This is kind of a weird kit... The original design is from 1999. It got an update for P-Bandai in 2019, and then another update and a full re-release in 2021. So the runners are kind of all over the place. Some of the engineering feels kind of dated. And there's lots of duplicate parts.

Of course I had to paint the little pilot figures... And this is the first time I've used an airbrush on gunpla. I primed them with Vallejo Mecha Color primer, then painted them all black with Vallejo Model Air, then finally topcoated them with Vallejo Mecha Color matt varnish. I think they turned out pretty well... Except for that stray bit of yellow on the helmet that I didn't notice until I was taking pictures.

As usual, I painted the monoeye with my favorite metallic pink Gundam Marker. I just love how that pops.

This whole kit is just big and chunk. Very bulky. Those legs are absolutely huge.
The fit isn't great. Those shoulders, for example, didn't want to stay together. The red and black sections kept coming apart and I wound up having to glue them

This kit has the same terrifyingly well-articulated hands as the Origin RX-78-2 I built a little while back. They're not horrible to build, but I'm terrified they're going to break.

This is certainly a well-armed mobile suit. There's the heat rod, a machine-gun, two giant bazookas, a couple weird little hand-held rockets, and then some extra ammo.

This kit actually came with waterslide decals, which is always a nice surprise. Unfortunately, after using G-Rework and Delpi decals for the last couple of kits those Bandai decals weren't great. Seems like they didn't want to release from the paper very easily.
Annoyingly... While decals were included to mark this suit for Gaia, Mash, or Ortega - the marking guide didn't indicate who gets what. And I couldn't find any good examples of what rank/number each of the Black Tri-Stars were. So I eventually just decided to make it a random Dom. Nobody in particular.

And, again, I'm topcoating this with my new airbrush. I didn't do a great job. There's a couple bits where I went too heavy and there's some waterlines. A couple bits where there's some spattering. But, for the most part, I think it turned out well. It's certainly got a very nice matte finnish.

This is one chonky mobile suit. Those legs are simply massive. And the articulation really isn't great. I really struggled to get anything dynamic out of this thing.

I grabbed a Bandai Action Base 1 to get it up off the ground... And while that certainly helps deliver better poses - it makes the whole build even bigger and bulkier.

I'm left with seriously mixed feelings on this build. It looks great up on the shelf... And I'm fairly pleased with how my first airbrush work turned out... But I didn't love the build itself.
The articulation isn't great. The inner-frame is really not impressive - it's just kind of there to hang armor on. Despite the upgrades and revisions this kit still feels pretty dated. I think calling it a "1.5" is being generous.
But it looks truly striking up on the shelf. It's big and bold. That black/purple color-scheme is fantastic. I'm tempted to put more Doms up on my shelf... But maybe I'll try the HG Origin kits instead of these old Master Grade ones.

SpiderWoman 2099 Pt.4
Miguel O'Hara x Spider!Reader
Sinopsis: The year is 2106. By day, you work as the head of the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology division at Alchemax. By night, you are the one and only Spider-Woman, fighting tirelessly to protect New York from the tyrannical clutches of crime and delinquency. Your days are spent in an ordinary, organized routine: it's just you, the only barrier between your city and oblivion, dealing with the violence and pain that comes with being a superhero.
Everything is just normal. Then your dead husband appears in front of you, talking about alternate universes, spider societies and canonical disasters, and you discover that all your sorrows, losses and failures were possibly always meant to happen.
What the fuck.
Notes: No excuses. Let this chapter, full of Miguel, make up for the long time I was gone. I will keep the reader's background rather ambiguous, but it is implied that they also speaks Spanish.
If you want to be added to the taglist, let me know.
Warnings: Intrusive thoughts, mild violence, subtle references to depression. As always, english is not my first lenguague.
Word count: 2.6K
Pt 1 - Pt 2 - Pt 3 - Pt 4
Impassive white eyes stared back at you with disdain. You looked with abject curiosity at the spidery pattern on his red suit, the white glasses and the sharp claws, and you couldn't help but wonder...
Who makes a spider suit for a cat?
Undaunted, the animal yawned loudly and stretched lazily over the railing before leaping onto the pristine marble floor, completely silent and oblivious to your anomalous presence. He waved his orange tail and stretched the red patterns that hugged his hind legs.
You did not have the opportunity to entertain yourself with her pretty pink pads. A gloved hand brushed your shoulder, and you turned your masked face to observe your guide's own grim expression.
"Come with me." Miguel said. "I'll show you around before introducing you to the rest of Society."
Silently, you nodded. The man walked two steps ahead of you. His broad, imposing figure was like a bronze spur, parting the sea of arachnid entities that watched you with open curiosity.
As he made his way through the crowd, you quietly followed in his footsteps. Grateful for the foresight to keep your mask in place, you analyzed the discordant structure of the building that surrounded you. You noticed the long corridors and open configuration: designed to facilitate mobility for your kind.
Miguel moved forward, and you watched his impassive figure with stern eyes. You wondered if he too had become Orpheus in his willingness to claim you back, and now feared to look back and lose his Eurydice. Perhaps the anguish in his gaze would be enough to draw you into the shadows and lose you forever. Would he then be blessed to work and move the gods with craftsmanship born of his terrible grief?
Was it so for you? You could not claim that your deeds after his death were unselfish and sincere: you did not seek to soften the wind with your tender weeping, nor to drown the rushing waters with the song of your heroic prowess. The resolution of your vengeance was your reward: an analgesic balm to numb the turmoil of your burning soul.
Together, you entered the lift... You watched the changing landscape. On the glass, you saw Miguel's ponderous silhouette, stern and rigid. The pattern of his suit resembled your own. But your own profile was outlined with sharper lines, and your web shooters were not exposed, but hidden in the webbing patterns on your wrists.
The door opened, and you followed him through large, well-lit rooms, through huge recreation rooms, and through small, immaculate, familiar laboratories. You carefully analyzed the information he gave you along the way: where to find the scientists in charge of certain labs, the optimum hours for accessing the training rooms, the menu in the main cafeteria (a burger with Miguel's mask on it? Santo Dios...). Finally, he took you to his own office. On one of the top floors, of course. Just like your universe.
When the lift stopped in his office, your mask retracted. Miguel did a quick double take, pursed his lips and looked up; you followed his gaze to see a red light flashing rapidly on one of the screens above the platform.
You heard Miguel's grunt as Lyla appeared over his shoulder, giving you a quick wink before turning to face the man:
"An anomaly is causing trouble on Earth-1048. Homeworld Spider-Man is already on the scene, but he's limited to minimizing the destruction around him."
"Copy that." Miguel said. He ran a hand over his face, holding the bridge of his nose as he squeezed his eyes shut, and the gesture seemed so familiar that you almost let out the breath you were holding between your lips. "I have to deal with this. I'll talk to Jessica, she can show you the room you can use as your own."
"I can go with you." You finally spoke.
Miguel looked at you in surprise. But he quickly frowned and replied:
"No, it's too soon. I'll be able to show you how we deal with the anomalies once you're settled in and we know more about your universe."
Your universe. Like a wave crashing against rock, you felt heat coursing through your veins and burning in the pit of your stomach. You felt that in your rage, the marks on your suit might be burned into your skin forever.
You blinked. Ignoring the fire in your chest, you responded:
"I could settle in better if I knew what I was dealing with."
Miguel studied you. His red eyes scanned your face: your steel eyes, your unbending brows, your closed lips, and he said no more. Sharing a last look with Lyla, he nodded with finality, and she took it upon herself to open the portal for the two of you.
"Let 's go, then."
🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷
It was a cold morning in Harlem. The white sky barely hinted at the day's pale rays, and the streets were shrouded in a thick, damp gray haze. As you and Miguel landed on a lamppost overlooking the East River and the small buildings lining the street, an ominous silence settled over the scene at your feet.
You sat back on your heels, scanning the nondescript landscape, and Miguel followed, his back stiff and his hands clenched into fists as he exhaled:
"The signal seems to be coming from this warehouse." He gestured with his chin, and you peered intently at the gray silhouette of a building surrounded by tall grills and long containers. A cloud of gray smoke rose through the haze, and with a mighty leap you launched yourself in its direction, hearing Miguel's nets snap past you.
Soon you were perched on the railing of a neighboring building, with a clear view of the ruined courtyard. Sparks rained down from the ruined batteries; small fires burned and cracks in the concrete marred the once peaceful scene.
Rubble crunched beneath your feet as you landed in the courtyard. In the distance, you heard a muffled, heavy thud. You glanced cautiously at a large metal curtain to your right as a deafening screech pierced the jealous silence. Beside you, Miguel brought his knees to his chest and the two of you jumped away just as the door shot in your direction.
A red figure flew through the air. With a start, you threw your nets around the man's torso, jumping just in time to catch him before his body slammed into a large metal container.
"Nice catch." Gasped the Spider-Man in your arms. "Rhino's got an arm."
"Does he throw you often?"
"Well, yeah." The young man cleared his throat, pulling himself to his feet with a little help. "But I don't usually get caught by..." He tilted his head to the side, curious.
"Spider-Woman." You conceded.
Her white glasses widened comically as he whistled under his breath:
"Awesome!"
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Miguel's orange nets wrapped around Rhino's massive arm, and you spun on your heels as the beast slammed into the tower Miguel was standing on.
"He's really mad!" Spider-Man exhaled as he rushed to your side. "I don't understand, according to my intel, Aleksei's transfer still hasn't been coordinated. He is still in the custody of the police."
"He's not Aleksei Sytsevich!" Miguel shouted. He had dodged a large stone and landed next to you. "His name is Alexander O'Hirn. He is the Rhino of dimension 26496."
"Oh!" Spider-Man exclaimed. "I knew you weren't my Rhino! We've always had this connection, you know?"
The man lunged at you, furious. You caught a glimpse of a crane with a container suspended in the air, and you pulled the arm of the crane just as the man was passing underneath the box. The container landed on top of his armour with a clatter that made your ears ring.
"Watch out!"
A strong arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you out of the way of a huge chunk of concrete.
"Not one, but three Spider-Creeps!" he growled.
"Hey, that's not very nice of you." Spider-Man landed a kick to the chest, but Rhino didn't move. He grabbed the hero's legs and slammed him into the wreckage of the crane. Taking advantage of the distraction, Miguel jumped up and punched him in the face, the only exposed part of his body.
Rhino let go of Spider-Man and took a step back. With a leap, you stood on a low beam and surveyed your surroundings. As the man jerked and rammed into Miguel, you activated your drones; small winged spiders that flew over the villain's head, firing electric shocks that immobilised him with a scream.
"His face!" you exclaimed, and Miguel leapt to your side to dodge the rocks Rhino dropped as he stomped on the concrete.
Spider-Man, snapping out of his daze, noticed the same thing you did: the small visible part of his face was hyperemic and sweaty. "His suit must be restricting his ventilation!"
So this would be a battle of endurance. Good, you thought to yourself. You've been doing this for years.
With a nod, Miguel and Spider-Man squared up firmly and jumped into the fray.
🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷
As the portal to your dimension closed behind you, silence fell. Michael's gaze was on the horizon, and yours was on him. It was not his red eyes that you caressed with your thoughts, but you could taste the sweetness of his cheek beneath your lips. His hair was shorter, but his curly eyelashes were thicker than yours: a feature that made you playfully envious in the past.
In the warm, brief light of the streetlamps, his face was just as beautiful. His bronze skin was a ghostly contrast to the impassivity of the bustling nightlife, a backdrop to his stern profile.
He looked at you too. And his pupils wandered over the arch of your lips, your eyebrows and cheekbones, the slope of your neck and your bare ears. And you thought he was reflecting the same doubt that plagued you: because he is Miguel, but not your Miguel. And you were never his wife, but your smile is the same, and he only replaced your name with silence, and the space he occupied with you was filled with melancholy.
"You did a good job." Miguel said after a prolonged silence.
"Thank you." You replied with a small smile. "You weren't so bad yourself."
"Hm." He snorted. With a hand on his hip, he arched an eyebrow and looked you up and down, half mocking, half stern. "Now you know what we're up against. You can run away now. We won't blame you. I certainly wouldn't."
You moistened your lips and took a slow breath. So close, your arm inches from his shoulder, you felt his warmth, the energy of his holographic suit, his solid build and musky scent.
"You wouldn't reach me." You finally replied, and your heart skipped a beat as a grin revealed his sharp fangs.
"I already did."
"I was distracted."
"Sure."
He straightened up, and you took advantage of the brief appraisal that he was giving to the red horizon to revel in his presence... just one more time.
In your solitude, his face is your guest. With his presence, an outdated image shatters beneath your feet. This new precision is yours. And even if he were to leave you that night, his voice muffled by the wind, Miguel would not leave you. His eyes would remain in the burning sunset and his posture in the steadiness of the stars.
When he looked back at you, your expression was already composed. Silently, you tilted your chin in the direction of the busy streets, and when he raised a questioning eyebrow, you spread your arms wide and threw yourself into the void.
Your mask returned to your face and your wings spread from your arms. Behind you you heard a faint scream and a short curse in Spanish. You felt, before you saw, his broad, imposing figure leaping from the edge of the building, and you used the air currents to move across the city with ease.
The buildings blurred at the edge of your vision. Though your mask filtered out the piercing whistle of the air, you still felt the pressure in your ears; and you didn't look at him, but felt his presence, imagining him dodging antennas, aerial surveillance and flocks of birds skimming skilfully across the crowded sky.
You locked arms and landed in a somersault, legs cramped and right hand braced against one of the buildings, halfway across a complex of tall glass towers.
"Look."
Below you, the city lit up like fireflies in the night. Thirteen hundred feet away, the cars and streetlights looked like tiny fiery wisps traversing the busy, colorful streets. And in the distance, the black silhouette of Alchemax stood out against the red horizon.
"I recognise this place." Miguel said, leaning over to stare in awe at a small purple-roofed shop on the side of the road. "It used to be a very popular artisan bakery in my universe."
"It's quite popular here too."
"I still have fond memories of their vanilla cake. I would get it for all... my events." He finished lowly.
"I used to buy the orange bread," you hummed understandingly, shaking your head disappointedly. "And now I can't eat citrus."
He looked at you in silence... and then laughed, shaking his head in astonishment, "Neither can I."
In the privacy of your mask, you smiled back. And with the first dark brushstroke on the horizon came your resolution.
"I can help you." You began, looking away from the night to stare at his cloaked profile. "But I will not be part of the Society."
He bowed his head, listening.
"I have work to do here." Your work at Alchemax; the company you were leading was just beginning to take a course that you could be proud of. Being Spider-Woman; a full-time job you couldn't give up: you were already the symbol of your city. An embodiment of hope, perseverance and goodness. "But... I understand that your work with the multiverse is an even more arduous and complex task, and I offer you my services as an advisor. If you ever need help... you know where to find me."
A hero must be impartial. And to you... his mere presence would be a constant challenge, an exercise in moral skill tested in the crucible of your everyday life. How could you not choose him? The strange man with your husband's voice. The friend whom you love the most, the one who lives in the moments of your delirium.
Because, after him, living seems distant. You have no anger left... only pain. And although your better judgment led you not to get involved with the Society, you could not find the strength within yourself to ignore him. Even though this Miguel is not yours, letting him go is almost like losing him again.
His mask pulled back and you watched him run a hand through his hair, tousling his auburn locks as he nodded slowly.
"I understand."
He stood to his feet. He held out a hand to you, and you followed as he took one last, searching look over your city.
He opened his mouth, then closed it. He seemed to hesitate for a moment. He gave you a long look, and in the end he just said:
"Then I'm counting on you."
You remained standing, staring at his silhouette, even as the portal swallowed his dark figure.
"What have I just gotten myself into?" you whispered into the empty air.

Lan Fan had known about Winry’s exuberant love of automail. She had not quite been prepared for that attention to be laser-focused on her with a delighted squeal. “Look at the plating!” Winry exclaimed, eyes practically sparkling as she admired Lan Fan’s arm. “The way they slide together so that the armor doesn’t limit your mobility! Oh, wow.”
Lan Fan went slightly pink, unused to this kind of attention. “The engineer tried to keep my profession in mind when they designed it. It’s modeled after Xingese platemail.”
“Amazing.” Winry turned her adoring attention to the elbow joint. “Ed says you have a knife attachment too.”
Lan Fan nodded. “Be careful, I don’t want to cut you with it.” Winry withdrew her hands, and with a swift motion, Lan Fan flicked the blade out of the elbow joint. Winry practically shrieked with joy.
“I can’t believe it’s retractable! And so smoothly!” Winry carefully ran her hands around the base of the blade where it was deployed from.
“I have to oil it regularly,” Lan Fan told her, extending her arm so Winry could examine the underside of it.
“That makes sense. That’s a given with any automail, especially ones that experience the kind of strenuous use you’d be putting yours under. Ed never oils his enough,” she added with a sigh, though her exasperation didn’t last long. “Do you just have the one blade or can you swap it out?”
“Would that be possible? Multiple attachments?” Lan Fan asked, eyes wide. Winry clutched her arm, a determined sparkle in her eyes.
“Lan Fan. You have to let me make you new knives. Give me a week, and I’ll have all sorts of new blades for you.”
Well, Lan Fan wasn’t going to turn down an offer to make her more dangerous. “Okay,” she said, nodding. Winry clapped her hands happily, clearly resisting the urge to squeal again.
“How’s your port?” she asked, back to examining her arm. Lan Fan knew the scarring at her shoulder was unpleasant to look at, but Winry was a professional and saw scarred automail ports for a living. “Does it get sore?”
Lan Fan winced. “I did not give it enough time to heal when I first got it,” she admitted. “The nerves were definitely damaged. But physical therapy and alkahestry has helped.”
“Alkahestry, huh?” Winry tapped on her chin, contemplative for a moment. “I wonder if I can get Mei’s help with improving physical therapy… Hm…” Winry shook herself out of her thoughts with a smile. “Sorry. Got distracted there. How does it compare to your other arm? Are you used to it?”
“I’m not ambidextrous anymore,” Lan Fan said with some regret. “But the automail is much stronger than my right arm. And my dexterity is almost the same. I can throw kunai with my left arm just as well as my right.”
Winry’s eyes lit up again and she took Lan Fan's automail hand in both of her own. “You have to show me right now.”
Which is how they ended up in the Rockbells’ back yard, Lan Fan’s set of daggers in hand. “Pick a spot for me to hit,” she told Winry, pointing at the large tree she’d chosen for target practice.
Winry examined it for a moment, then pointed at a knot near where one of the branches split off. Fast as lightning, Lan Fan embedded a blade in the center of the knot, quickly followed by the rest of her kunai in a radial pattern. Winry applauded like she was watching a sporting match.
“Do you want to try?” Lan Fan offered once she’d plucked the daggers out of the bark.
“Me?” Winry pointed at herself, as if there was anyone else Lan Fan might be talking to. “I’ve never done this sort of thing before.”
“It’s never too late to try.”
She showed Winry how to hold the kunai, and how to position her body in relation to the tree. She ended up guiding Winry’s arm similarly to how Winry had been handling her automail only a few minutes prior. The first blade Winry threw ended up bouncing off the tree without embedding itself in the bark, but it at least hit the tree, which was a victory in itself. Lan Fan guided her through when to release the blade and how much force to put behind the throw, but just seconds before Winry threw it, they were interrupted.
“Hey Win, Ben wants- SHIT!” Ed yelped just barely ducking out of the kunai’s trajectory. He and Ling had taken the children raspberry picking at the neighbor’s that afternoon, and he had chosen that moment of all moments to walk around the side of the house. Ling appeared beside him, raspberry stains around his mouth and a toddler on his shoulders absolutely making his hair sticky. He looked at Ed on the ground with the other toddler in mild bemusement, then looked over at Winry and Lan Fan, realization lighting up his face.
“Ooh! Are you doing knife throwing?” He grinned, excited. “You should do that thing where you throw it at me and I catch it with my teeth!”
“Not with my kid on your shoulders, you won’t!” Ed complained, pulling himself upright to pluck Liane off Ling’s shoulders.
“I’m not doing that, my lord,” Lan Fan said flatly. Ling pouted.
“Why not? We used to do it all the time as kids!”
“I don’t want to return home and have to explain why the emperor has a new scar on his face.”
“I’ll be fine,” Ling insisted, but the moment was broken anyway, the children rushing over to their mother to distract her by showing her their baskets of freshly picked berries. Lan Fan collected the daggers Winry had thrown, taking one of them from a disgruntled Ed who had nearly become a dartboard himself.
“Your wife is cool,” she informed him as she took the knife back. Ed raised an eyebrow.
“I’m aware. Did she drool over your automail and offer to design more knives?” he asked. Her blush was apparently enough of an answer to make him laugh. “Figured. She’s been itching to do that since I first told her about your elbow sword thing. I dunno what your automail mechanic is like in Xing, but Winry isn’t gonna want to let you go once she gets her hands on your automail.”
“Well,” Lan Fan said diplomatically, “We will just have to visit more often, then.”
Ed grinned. “None of us will complain about that. C’mon, let’s eat some of those raspberries before Ling and the kids eat them all, then you can give us all a knife throwing demonstration.”
The children were even more thrilled by her knife throwing than their parents, though it was Winry’s cheers that Lan Fan heard the loudest. Yes, they’d definitely have to make it a point to come back to Resembool more often.
#fma#lan fan#winry rockbell#ed and ling make brief appearances as well as the edwin kids#my writing#this ended up being more automail appreciation than knife throwing#you know how it is with winry#also it was not my initial intent but as soon as I started writing I was like 'oh lan fan is gonna be kinda gay about this isn't she'#let's pretend this is in the same poly relationship setting as my edling fic <3#ling and lan fan each get one half of the elric-rockbell married couple

SR-71 pilot recalls when a Blackbird buzzed Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp after protest women threw paint on that very same SR-71
RAF Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp
In 1981 a group of women, angered by the decision to site cruise missiles (guided nuclear missiles) in the UK, organised a protest march from Cardiff, Wales to RAF Greenham Common near Newbury in Berkshire. Here they set up what became known as the Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp.
SR-71 T-Shirts

CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
According to Imperial War Museum, between 1981 and 1983 the protesters attempted to disrupt construction work at the base. Their methods included blockading the base and cutting down parts of the fence. In December 1982 more than 30,000 women gathered at Greenham to join hands around the base at the ‘Embrace the Base’ event.

International Air Tattoo (IAT) 1983 was also held at RAF Greenham Common.
youtube
Posted by SR-71 pilot BC Thomas on his YouTube channel, the video in this post shows a Blackbird (flown by Thomas himself with John G. Morgan as RSO) arriving at Greenham Common for the 1983 International Air Tattoo.
Thomas recalls in the video description;
‘I was the pilot in this video, but did not fly the SR-71 out of RAF Greehnam Common. I was the “mobile control” officer when the aircraft departed and the pilot was Maj Jim Jiggens, a USAF Thunderbird pilot and formally a US Army helicopter combat pilot in Vietnam.
Protest women throws paint on SR-71 Blackbird
‘On the evening of the air show featured in this video, women, who were protesting President Reagan’s decision to station intermediate nuclear missiles in England, broke into the security cordon around the air show aircraft and threw paint on several, including this SR-71.
‘Owing to the unique metals associated with the SR-71, the removing of the paint required special maintenance procedures to assure that no “hot spot” would develop on subsequent flights. It was quite a hassle and we were not amused over this incident. Jim and I planned a farewell departure for the protesters who were encamped in a squalor of tents just outside the main gate.
SR-71 Blackbird noise on the protesters at RAF Greenham Common
‘Jim obtained clearance for a “closed pattern” and turned to a downwind leg, descended to about 50 feet above the ground, and flew directly over the protestors’ encampment. It was early and probably most were asleep, but not for long. Jim was flying about 250 knots and selected afterburner in both engines as he was approaching the tents. As the SR-71 accelerated to 350-400 knots, he pulled up and focused the plume (and noise) directly on the protesters. It was a magnificent sight.’

Thomas concludes;
‘As we were leaving the base immediately after Jim’s departure, the gate guard (British) said to me: “I say, that was a jolly good show, but next time, please warn me before you do it.” I also had the honor to prefer charges against the women, but the British government later declined to prosecute.’
Greenham Common today
In 1987 US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev signed the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which paved the way for the removal of cruise missiles from Greenham.
Today Greenham no longer belongs to the military. Part of it is a business park and the rest is common land.

Cassandra Cain in Video Game Media
Tonight, I'm going to cover the various appearances Cassandra Cain has in video game media. Some might surprise you, even startle you, and even might get you interested in said game (that are available).
Now her first appearance in video game media is a rather infamous one, Batman Dark Tomorrow released for the Game Cube and X-Box. The game is rather infamous for being quite awful for its atrocious controls and camera angles.
Cass (along with Tim Drake Robin) show up after you defeat Stage 3 after beating Scarface & the Ventriloquist. And that's about it. Just a random appearance. 🙃
A fun little note is the game's story was written by Scott Peterson, who had a slight hand in Cass's Vol. 1 ongoing throughout the Puckett/Scott run. So it's highly probable he snuck her in for this scene.
The second appearance of Cass in a video game is one usually forgotten but released a few months after the first, Batman: Toxic Chill (2003). An educational game where you as Batman would solve various puzzles to progress.
The game's character design is HEAVILY influenced by BTAS. However, with a KEY difference, the Batgirl is Cass (and voiced by Christiane Crawford).
Later that same year, we'd get the game's sequel, Batman: Justice Unbalanced, and again Cass would be in the game (voiced again by Christiane Crawford).
Her roles in both games are relatively minor just showing up, and the vocal performance by Crawford is quite good.
After that three-prone assault in 2003, we'd have to wait until 2011 for the next time Cass as Batgirl would show up in a video game. This time in DC Universe Online.
Yeah, you read that date right in 2011, several years after she had abandoned the role (and would soon be wiped away with the New 52).
She appears in the game as a vendor for hero characters. Mindy Raymond voices her in the game.
There's just so great irony in the fact that this game has Cass walking around as Batgirl when DC was shoving Barbara Gordon everywhere else as THE Batgirl at this time.
Not only that, but when Cass was reintroduced as Orphan in 2016, she was still Batgirl here. And the game still exists to this day and she’s still the Batgirl in it!
Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure is our next surprising Cass appearance which came out in 2013 (at the HEIGHT of her being labeled "toxic" by DC).
Cass is one of MANY DC characters in the game. She's not just Batgirl in the game, but also her Black Bat persona is here too!
Fun little Easter Egg, if you type in Kasumi you'll get Cass instead (go figure 😝).
2013 would see the release of the mobile version of "Injustice Gods Amongst Us" a vastly different version of the fighting game on consoles and pcs.
However, Cass (a reskinned Babs Batgirl) is among the unlockables in the game. If I recall right from friends who played the game she's highly difficult to fully unlock.
As I said in my Alternate Universe reading guide not much is known about this version of Cass. But she was name-dropped in the last comic released (a prequel to the series, Injustice: Year Zero #2),
2020 would see Cass appear in another mobile game, DC Legends.
This would technically have her appear in her Orphan identity but it's never explicitly listed. In the game she's listed as "Cassandra Cain: The One Who is All".
Much like Injustice, she's hard to unlock buuuuut a bit easier to attain than that game. Once fully geared up and evolved into the game's "Rebirth" mode, she can be an absolute beast and bane to many players.
There is one tiny bits of note. In last year's Gotham Knights video game, it was revealed one of Barbara Gordon's rejected concept costumes was heavily inspired by Cassandra's Batgirl look.
In Batman: Arkham Origins (2013), Cass's pop is amongst the files of rejected assassins Black Mask was pondering to hire to kill Batman.
He's also listed in the game as an acquaintance of Lady Shiva (who does appear in it). Sadly, nothing ever comes of these little bits.
There you have it. Every single video game appearance of Cass. SO FAR...
