Synopsis: To be fair, Jake didn’t know Maya was the daughter of an admiral when they started dating. Or that her father was none other than Wilson “Hitchcock” Hayes, the legendary pilot famous for having a chip on his shoulder larger than the state of Texas and four sons who all graduated from the TOPGUN program. With her entire family set to come down to San Diego for her graduation, Jake enlists the help of his friends to woo his girlfriend’s family.

“I have to tell you something.”

Hangman’s halfway out the front door when Maya makes her sudden declaration. He was supposed to meet the rest of his squadron at The Hard Deck twenty minutes ago and he’s already running behind, but her words make him halt in place. It was essentially a cousin of “we need to talk” and nothing good ever came from those conversations in his experience. And judging from the way his girlfriend was twiddling her thumbs nervously, this was no exception.

“Is this a good something or a bad something?” he asks, coming over to stand in front of her. He places his hands on her hips and squeezes. He can feel the uneasiness radiating off her and while it does nothing to stop his mind from racing, he keeps his expression neutral.

“Depends on how you take it,” she says with a nervous chuckle, rubbing her hands up and down his arms. “I just wanted to tell you that my family is flying in next week for my graduation and I want you to meet them.”

That’s… not as bad as he was expecting.

“Okay?” he drawls with a confused smile. “Why do you seem so worried? I would love to meet your family, babe.”

“It’s not you I’m worried about.” Oh, if only he knew, she thinks. “They’re just… a lot sometimes and I don’t want you to get scared off or something.”

“Baby, nothing could scare me away from you,” he says, leaning down to place a kiss on her lips. “And trust me, by the time your graduation comes, you’re gonna see that you had nothing to worry about.”

Hangman was a charmer by nature. His military confidence in combination with his southern hospitality made him every parent’s dream. And being an older brother to three sisters himself, he knew exactly the type of guy he would want his sisters to bring home. He was sure he could get her father and brothers to love him in no time.

“Is there anything I should know before they come?” he asks, dipping his head down to place kisses along the column of her neck.

“Well…” If this were any other situation, his kisses may have distracted her from the situation at hand, but not this time. Here goes nothing, she thinks. “I told you that my dad was a pilot for the Navy.”

Hangman hums in agreement, continuing his line of kisses to her jawline. “You did.”

“My brother’s in the Navy, too.”

“Oh?” He was mentally taking notes on potential things that could earn him brownie points. Finding a common ground would be easier than he thought. “What does he do?”

“He’s a pilot.”

Hangman stiffens. He lifts his head to see her biting her lip nervously. “A pilot? Like your dad?”

“Mhm,” she nods, refusing to meet his eye.

Now, that piqued his interest. He lifts an eyebrow skeptically. “Which brother is this?”

“All of them.”

“All of them?” he repeats in disbelief. “They’re all in the Navy or they’re all pilots?”

“Both.”

“Both?” he parrots, his voice significantly higher than before. He feels the self-assured mask he’d put on slip off a little more with each detail he learned.

“Wait, you said your dad was a pilot for the Navy? What does he do now?”

Please don’t say it, he begs internally.

“He’s an admiral.”

“You just left?”

Hangman thinks for a moment. “Yeah.”

In hindsight it wasn’t his best move, but his brain felt like it was on overdrive. He didn’t know if he was running on adrenaline or fear.

Hangman, the fearless fighter pilot, had run away with his tail between his legs.

His friends were left bewildered when Hangman had shown up over a half an hour late looking like he’d seen a ghost and started word vomiting all the new information he’d learned about his girlfriend’s family. All the way up to the point where he’d left her standing alone in the kitchen of her apartment.

Again, not his best move.

“So, you really had no idea?”

“No.”

“And you just found out today?” 

“Yes.”

“You had to have known–”

“For the last time, Phoenix; no, I didn’t know and no offense, but this is really not helping my case here,” Hangman groans. He straightens his posture from where he was bent over the pool table and runs a stressed hand over his face. “I mean, what the hell am I supposed to do?”

The group of pilots share a look before collectively turning their gazes to Bob, who’d been distracted by the cup of peanuts in his hand. He looks up to find them all staring at him expectantly, hoping he could provide a voice of reason. 

“Don’t look at me, I’m not the one dating the admiral’s daughter.”

Hangman’s shoulders visibly deflate as he sets aside his pool cue. He sits on the bar stool across from Coyote, downing his drink in one go in an attempt to ground himself. 

“I just don’t get it,” Phoenix says. “You knew her last name, she told you her dad was in the Navy, and yet you never made the connection?”

In hindsight, there were so many clues that could’ve told Hangman that her dad was not just an admiral, but the admiral. She’d briefly mentioned him being a Naval aviator when they’d first met, but the weight of his accomplishments didn’t strike her as something to mention off-hand. She rarely talked about him after that first time and Hangman never wanted to push, assuming that they probably didn’t have the best relationship.

Oh, how wrong he was.

“In my defense, it’s a common last name,” Hangman counters weakly.

“In the entire country? Maybe,” Rooster says, grabbing the abandoned pool cue and lining up his own shot. “In the Navy? You should’ve known, dude.”

“Thanks,” Hangman states flatly as he glares at his friend. He fiddles with the glass in his hands, wishing that if he stared at it long enough it would magically refill itself. He definitely needed another drink.

Payback, ever the mediator, chooses this moment to step in. “Look, man, I don’t know what you want us to tell you. If this were any other admiral, I wouldn’t see a problem, but this is Hitchcock. We’ve all heard the stories, his daughter’s like his pride and joy.”

Hangman knew his friend was right. Admiral Wilson “Hitchcock” Hayes was, in layman’s terms, a hardass. He notoriously ruled with an iron fist and anyone that stepped out of line under his watchful eye would have hell to pay. His ever-present scowl and booming voice were enough to make a grown man cry, as evident to the poor lieutenant who had gotten in his way on a particularly bad day. The one exception to his icy exterior was his one and only daughter, affectionately referred to as Princess by her father’s colleagues.

Princess, who also happened to be Hangman’s girlfriend of nine months. Go figure.

“Isn’t he stationed in Virginia? The hell is he coming to San Diego for?” Fanboy asks.

“Her graduation,” Hangman explains, but even the slight twinge of pride he got from the thought of his girlfriend completing medical school wasn’t enough to dull his anxiousness. “And it’s not just him, her entire family is going to be here.”

“You mean–”

“Yup.”

Payback holds out his full beer bottle towards Hangman. “I think you might need this more than I do.”

He mumbles out a thanks and takes a swig.

“If I were you, I’d worry about her brothers first,” Rooster says. “Because right now, you’re severely outnumbered.”

Admiral Hayes was well-known in his own right, but the fact that all four of his sons were amongst the top 1% of aviators practically immortalized him in the eyes of the Navy. And while each Hayes’ brother was wildly different from the next, wanting to follow in their father’s footsteps was their unwavering common ground. This included a fierce and shared protectiveness over the youngest member of their family.

It was common sense to anyone stationed with a Hayes to never mention Princess in the presence of her brothers, let alone her father. Dating her was unquestionably off the table. Another young officer had learned that the hard way after attempting to flirt with her in front of her oldest brother, Wes, when she had come up to Virginia to visit. It was no surprise when that same lieutenant had shown up to base the next day with a black eye.

And Wes was known as the level-headed one.

Fanboy lets out a low whistle. “Dude, you’re fucked.”

Hangman nods gratefully at Phoenix as she drives her elbow into Fanboy’s ribcage.

“I can’t speak for the others, but Pops isn’t a bad guy,” Payback says, referring to Admiral Hayes’ oldest son. “We were in the same TOPGUN class. He’s a hell of a pilot.”

“Same goes for Junior,” Coyote pipes from his seat, talking the second oldest. “I was stationed with him before I came here.”

Phoenix turns to Bob and points. “Bob, weren’t you stationed with one of the Hayes’ in Lemoore? What was his callsign?”

“Oh, Mouse?” Bob says. “Yeah, he’s the youngest, I think. He’s fine. He’s just… quiet, I guess.”

“Well, that’s three out of four,” Fanboy counts, looking between everyone else. “Who’s the fourth?”

Hangman’s head snaps up and his eyes meet Rooster and Phoenix’s concerned gazes from across the pool table. He groans in realization, pressing a hand to his forehead to ease the tension that had built up. “Sparky.”

“Sparky?” Payback echoes.

“Griffin Hayes,” Phoenix explains. “He and Hangman had it out for each other in the Academy.”

“C’mon, it’s been years,” Rooster says, painfully optimistic. “Do you really think he’s still holding a grudge against him?”

Hangman stares at him blankly. “Did you?”

Rooster’s silence was all the confirmation he needed.

“Well, you and Rooster are on good terms now,” Bob says, ignoring their indifferent expressions. Good terms, but not great, one might say. “Who says you can’t do the same with this Sparky guy?”

Rooster and Phoenix share a look while Hangman sighs. “It’s not that easy.”

“Had it out for each other” was a gross understatement as to what their relationship actually was. Griffin “Sparky” Hayes was the thorn in Hangman’s side throughout his years at the Academy all the way to his stint at TOPGUN, making whatever petty beef he had with Rooster seem like child’s play in comparison. While Hangman and Rooster’s rivalry remained strictly professional, the riff between Hangman and Sparky bled into aspects of their everyday life. From the type of car they drove all the way to the girls they dated.

Hangman swore he never wanted to see the son of a bitch again after he’d successfully beaten Sparky out for the number one spot in their TOPGUN class. The feeling, as expected, was mutual.

Now, he needed to play nice or he could kiss his sweet girlfriend goodbye.

“Jake?”

Hangman perks up at the sound of Maya’s voice. She’s wearing the same apprehensive expression she had on when he’d first left her apartment as she shrunk under the gazes of the six other pilots with him.

In the nine months they’d been dating, Maya had only spent time with his squadron on a handful of occasions. Between her rounds at the hospital and finishing medical school, it was rare for her to have a weekend off. But when she did, she gladly accompanied Hangman to The Hard Deck. While the conversations never went deeper than surface level, they all got along well.

So, it was slightly awkward to have them all stare at her like she’d just entered riding on a unicorn.

“Hey guys,” she waves shyly. They return her gesture timidly, like they were afraid Hitchcock was going to pop up out of nowhere and berate them for not greeting his daughter properly.

Hangman removes himself from his bar stool and goes to stand in front of her, blocking them from her view. “Babe, what’re you doing here?”

“Can we talk?” she asks, sparing a glance at his friends. “Privately?”

A sick sense of déjà vu washes over him, instantly flashing back to when she’d said a variation of those words not even an hour ago and how that conversation had ended. It doesn’t stop him from placing a hand on the small of her back and leading her away from the multiple pairs of prying eyes. He walks them out to the back patio of The Hard Deck, embracing the slight chill of the early evening. When he notices her slight shiver, he silently curses himself for not having a jacket to give her.

Boyfriend of the year award, he thinks. 0 for 2, Bagman.

“I am so sorry for walking out earlier, I don’t know what I was thinking,” he starts off, grabbing her hands in his larger ones to warm them up. 

“I don’t blame you, to be honest,” she says. “I did kind of drop a bomb on you.”

A massive, extremely explosive atomic bomb. But a bomb, nonetheless.

“It was just… unexpected, I guess,” he says. Understatement of the century. “I also wish I’d known a little sooner.”

“I know,” she groans, retracting her hands from his and burying her face in them. “I just didn’t want things to change between us.”

He pries her hands away from her face so he could look her in the eye. “You really think I would treat you any differently?”

“Aren’t you already? I mean, you saw how your friends looked at me in there like I was some mythical creature,” she says, gesturing towards the window. 

Hangman spares a glance back to the group of pilots, who’d conveniently made their way over to the piano sometime in the past five minutes. They were not at all subtle in the way they were trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. He catches Rooster’s eye, who turns away immediately as he scratches the back of his neck. The rest follow suit as they feign different levels of nonchalance. 

“Hell, you walked out right after I told you,” she points out.

Hangman grimaces. She got him there. “Again, not my best move.”

“Look, I love my dad and my brothers, but I also love you,” she says, laying an affectionate hand on his cheek. “And I know I’ve put you in an impossible position. It’s not what you signed up for.”

Maya, usually the epitome of confidence, had never looked smaller as she delivered her words so mechanically. Almost like she was repeating them from memory, like someone had said them to her before. Hangman’s heart breaks at the idea of his girlfriend being told those words as someone decided that she wasn’t worth the risk.

“What are you saying?” Hangman asks, almost certain he knew where the conversation was going.

“I’m offering you an out,” Maya sighs. “You don’t have to do this.”

In any other scenario, he would’ve viewed her proposition as a cop-out. He would’ve been upset that she was giving up before letting him have a chance to prove himself. He would’ve been upset that she was running away from him. But he could see the vulnerability hiding beneath the surface. She was offering him the out because that’s the way everyone else had taken.

Hangman’s decision is a no brainer. He wanted to show her that she was worth fighting for. 

“I love you and I made you a promise, didn’t I?” he says, bringing his hands up to cradle her face. “Like I said, there is absolutely nothing that can scare me away from you.”

Hopefully, those wouldn’t be his famous last words.

But he knows he made the right decision when her face lights up with a mixture of happiness and relief. She leans up and kisses him, wrapping her arms around his waist. His arms move around her shoulders when she pulls away, placing a firm kiss on her forehead.

“I love you.” Hangman repeats as he places another kiss on her head. “And I can’t wait to meet ‘em.”

“I love you, too,” she says, beaming at him. “They’re going to love you in no time.”

If only things were that easy.

a/n: this is part 3 of a 3 part headcannon of Sarah and Jake telling there friends and family of their pregnancy. however they are keeping the twins a secret from everyone other than Alyssa and Rooster  

this is the next part in this oc series, which is inspired by @roosterscockpit ‘s ( @milesdickpic ) story ‘His Little Girl’ and yes the oc is based on me (but is mainly fantasy me lol)

Sarah and Jake called his family the same day, only about an hour after they had talked to her family.

They had sent Jack and Delilah a little pair of boots and a note that said ‘don’t open until we facetime’. And mugs that said ‘memaw’ and ‘granddad’. And a little cow plushie for them to hold onto.

Jake sent a quick text to the group chat and then made the call.

Everyone picked up relatively at once.

A chorus of ‘hello’s and childrens’ giggles in the background greeted the couple before they could open their mouths.

“Hey guys!” Jake greeted them. Sarah smiling and waving at the camera, “Hey, y’all!”

A little gasp was heard before little feet padded across the tile, “Unkie J!” Jake’s eyes lit up, “PJ!! Hi, buddy! Oh you’ve gotten so big.”

Sarah looked up at Jake, seeing the bright smile on his face as his 3 year old nephew talked near nonsense to him.

“Unkie J! Coconuts have WATER in them!” Peyton exclaimed, getting close to the camera.

Jake’s eyes widened in confusion and he looked down at Sarah, “What?”

Sarah laughed, “It’s a Bluey reference, my students talk about the show all the time.”

Addison laughed, “Oh my goodness! This little guy loves that show, don’t ya bub?” Peyton didn’t answer and just got closer to the microphone, “Coconuts have water in them.” He whispered it this time.

“Did he skip his after church nap?” Sarah asked, realizing the kid was probably just sleepy.

“Yes, but he wanted to see y’all.” The blonde boy gasped, “Aunt Sawah!”

Sarah laughed, “Hi Pey Jay!” “Aunt Sawah, did you know that I’m king of the squirrels?”

Jake had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing.

“Wow! Really? How’d that happen?”

Zach laughed, “He was playing outside and Blakely screamed because PJ was chasing her with a squirrel.” “I’M KING OF THE SQUIRRELS!” PJ ran off.

“JAKE DID THAT TO ME!” Paisley yelled pointing at Jake through the screen.

Sarah looked up at Jake, “Did you actually chase her with a squirrel, Jake Thomas?” “I may have…” Sarah’s jaw dropped. “I knew you chased her with a snake, but a squirrel? How the hell did you even catch it?” 

Jake shrugged, “I just kinda-” He made a catching motion. “Wait, how’d you know about the snake?” “Jake, she’s my best friend. We shared a living space for years.”

“You told her?” “Yeah JT, she was telling me about the time her sister threw a Doctor Pepper bottle at her other sister and busted her eyebrow. So I told her about when you chased me with a snake.”

Tilly laughed, “This is why I’m glad I’m the baby.”

Jake shook his head, before changing the subject.

“Okay, did all y’all get your gifts we sent? Everyone should have gotten two.”

They nodded, holding up the boxes they got.

They had also sent things to his sisters and brother-in-laws. Tumbler cups that said ‘Aunt’ and ‘Uncle’ respectively, and their names.

“Can we open them? I’ve been itching to sense we got ‘em?” Tilly asked, lightly clawing at the paper.

Jake nodded, “Yes, but no one says anything until Ma and Dad have opened theirs.” “Rip ‘em open guys,” Sarah smiled.

Jack and Delilah quickly opened theirs and Sarah watched Paisley and Tilly share a look.(both live with mom and dad still) Their jaws were slack as they looked from each other to their cups.

Delilah pulls out the cow plushie, “Oh ain’t that cute.” “Oh, Honey, look, there’s boots,”Jack pulled out the boots. He looked at his son, “Do these go on the cow?”

Jake laughed, “I don’t know, Dad. They may fit the cow, but maybe you should open the other box.”

Jack rolled his eyes good naturedly and opened the other gift and Jake could see everyone fidgeting in anticipation.

He handed the mug with the more delicate font to Delilah and held his out to read it, “Granddad?” “Memaw?” The sisters groaned when it didn’t click right away.

To be fair, Jack and Delilah had five grandkids so they were used to getting things that had those names on it.

“Look at the cow’s ear tag, Lilah,” Sarah suggested. “And check the bottom of the boots, Dad,” Jake said, smirking as he leaned back in his chair and put his arm over the back of Sarah’s.

The cow’s ear tag read “Baby Seresin” and the bottom of the boots read “Aug 2023”

Delilah gasped and covered her mouth while holding the cow close to her chest and Jack looked between the cow, boots, and the mugs. “Wow…”

“Can we cheer now? Ethan might explode if he can’t cheer,” Kassadra asked, holding her eight year old by the shoulders.

Sarah and Jake nodded, “Yes! You can cheer!”

Cheers erupted and Ethan could be seen doing a little dance.

“Congrats you guys!” Carter smiled.

“Welcome to the club Jake!” Zach grinned.

Tilly laughed, “Oh boy I hope the baby turns out like Sarah. Or they may stop here.”

Jake scoffed, “I’m not that bad!” “Jake, may I remind you of how you got that scar on your lip?” Kassandra teased.

“Please don’t-” “He went face first into a stop sign because he was trash talking while foot racing.”

“KJ!” His sister shrugged.

“How old were you?” Sarah asked. Jake shrugged, “I was young-” “You were 16,” Jack said pointedly.

Jake rubbed his face, “Can we stop talking about me? Thanks.”

Sarah rubbed bicep, “But you love talking about yourself.” “Yeah, the good stuff.” He kissed her temple.

They decided to talk about the wedding and brought up the dress situation.

Not too long after the subject change, Kassandra and Addison needed to hang up and get their kids settled.

They talked a little bit with Jake’s parents and the two youngest Seresins.

“Have you thought of names?” Jack asked.

Jake nodded, “Yeah, we decided on Finley Grace for a girl.” “Wait like Memaw Grace?” Jake nodded again.

Jack smiled and nodded back to his son.

“Hey, Sarah?” Paisley got Sarah’s attention. “What’s up PT?”

She held up another box. “I think you sent an extra box. Is this for Tyler?”

Sarah grinned and shook her head, “No, that’s for you. Tyler’s got shipped out Friday, Whitley ran out of vinyl and then her cat knocked the cup off and broke the lid.”

“Um, hey, you think we can talk with Paise in private for a minute?” Jake asked.

The other three nodded, “Yeah, we need to go get some stuff done in the barn and Tilly’s boyfriend just got here so they’re going on a date.”

They bid their farewell and a one last congratulations.

“Okay, Paisley, open it.”

Paisley did so, gently pulling out the cup not looking at it until she read the note.

The note:

“Paisley, when I volunteered to room with you your first year as a Razorback, I didn’t know it was going to change my life. You’re my best friend. You were there when I fell head first for Jake and you watched him fall in love with me. You were there when our story began, and I want you by my side as we begin a new chapter. Will you be my maid of honor?”

Paisley’s green eyes were wet with tears as she picked up the cup.

“Goodness gracious… I wasn’t expecting that. Yes, of course I’ll be your maid of honor!”

Sarah smiled, wiping at her own tears.

“I think if I waited any long to ask you I would’ve imploded,” she laughed. “Thank you, Paisley.”

“I love you, Sarah.” “I love you too, Pay.” She ended the call.

Jake smiled, kissing Sarah on the top of the head, “Now you just need to tell your students.” “They’re gonna respond well, I don’t have to worry about them.”

He laughed, “That’s true.”

“Hey, I’ve got a question.”

“Shoot.”

“Why are teenagers watching a show for kids?”

Sarah sat up straight, “Bluey is a great show, Jake.”

He arched an eyebrow, “Sarah, do you watch a show about a dog family?” “It’s a good show!”

“It’s for kids!”

She grabbed his hand, “Nope you’re watching it now.” He let her pull him to the living room.

They got on the couch and got comfy, and pulled up Disney+.

Needless to say, Jake loved it and cried during the ‘Granddad’ episode, but he will deny it if you ask.

MY HEART CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH. im not joking when i say this scene really strummed my heart strings (in a good way!) and is one of my top favorite fluff moments in general🥺

i have sm appreciation for friends not only bc of the fluff and smut (the chains🫣 still recovering if im being honest), but bc we also got to see oc take care of yoongi too. ofc i love when the mc gets that tlc from their partner, but i also love seeing moments when the mc reciprocates by taking care of their partner and putting them first too, you know? i loved how we got to see oc have more courage and confidence in friends, and being able to outwardly ask yoongi what he likes. that made me so mushy and so happy for both her and yoongi bc 1. we love seeing character development, and 2. my man’s yoongi finally getting that attention and catering that he deserves!! UGH I LOVE THIS CHAPTER WITH MY HEART, I DO!! im absolute mush and really had to let you know how much i loved this moment in 3tan (esp. since i kept that thought to myself for so long), how much i love friends as a chapter, and how much i love oc and yoongi’s personalities 🤧🫶🏼

Summary: Roughly a month ago, you were taken in by Tetyana “Anya” and Erik Malinovsky; Ukrainian twins who, like you, were unwillingly experimented on and by the same organization no less. You thought you’d left it all behind you, but the past isn’t so easy to forget, no matter how much you wish it was.

It’s been a few months since the Malinovsky twins had found you wandering around all by yourself. You were a captive of the same organization that had kidnapped them; CERBERUS. The name itself makes you feel sick. Thank God you had managed to escape, but you had no family; they were all killed when you were fifteen after the government ended up catching word that you were a witch, a death sentence there. How you’d managed to keep it hidden for five years you weren’t sure, but it didn’t matter now. Poor little you just wandered around the streets of Kyiv, Ukraine, nearly a thread’s width away from death at all times. You found yourself scavenging for food, but found little. That was the one time you thanked yourself for being overweight; when you had no food, your body burned the extra fat stored in it. Of course if your family was gonna overfeed one of the siblings, it’d be the youngest one.

That was about three years ago. You’re still a bit overweight somehow, but eventually your body was going to crack under pressure. You had been stumbling along as usual, your vision a bit worse for wear than usual and you feeling dizzy. You felt as though you would pass away if you didn’t get help. Up ahead, you saw two figures and tried to cry out to them, but your mouth was sandpaper-dry, only managing to croak out a little. You swore you could see them getting closer, but you weren’t sure, and you didn’t have time to be sure because.....

.....everything went still and silent.

When you woke up, you found yourself in a warm bed, hearing a beautiful voice singing softly to you in Ukrainian while petting your head and then offering you a hot meal and a place to stay. And that was how you ended up with the twins.

Despite their kindness, it’s still taking you a long time to adjust. There’s always this lingering fear that they’ll kick you out like everyone else who’s offered to let you stay with them; they’d only do it because they wanted something from you, so it’s safe to say that your trust isn’t there. And so instead of talking about your emotions, you just bottle them up and try to deal with them yourself.

But somehow tonight seems different. The whole day had been extra emotional for you; it was the anniversary of the day you saw your whole family get killed in an effort to protect you, and so you’d been feeling overwhelmed with these sensations; a closing throat, tight chest, thin voice, watery eyes, the works. 

That night you get into bed and try to go to sleep. But once you do, you begin tossing and turning as you’re immediately thrown into nightmares of the twins suddenly tossing you out of their place, just as the others had done to you in the past, CERBERUS finding you, torturing you even more for the rest of your life.

Your voice rises in your sleep as you whimper out a series of “no”s; the volume crescendos. However you’re not aware that you were even screaming until you hear someone calling out your name and gently shaking you.

“Baby sister!” Anya’s voice echos over her nightmare version insulting you. “Baby sister, please wake up!”

All of a sudden, you shoot up in a cold sweat, trembling. You look at the two twins.

“P-please....” you whimper. “Please don’t throw me out.....I-I’ll do whatever you want, I promise. Just please, please, please......please l-let me stay.....please don’t....don’t throw me back to the streets.....I don’t want CERBERUS to find me!”

You feel your eyes begin to water up.

“Throw you out?” Erik asks, his voice sounding genuinely confused. “Why would we throw you out?”

“....They all do....eventually.....they get what they want and then.....I’m just trash....”

Your voice squeaks on that last part and the tears begin to fall.

“Oh....sweet, baby sister....” 

Anya brings you in close, hugging you as she tears up as well and rubbing your back.

“How about I get you some water?” Erik asks. “I promise I won’t use my speed powers this time.”

He gets up and heads to the kitchen as Anya keeps hugging you.

“I’m right here, baby sister,” she coos gently. “Your big sister’s right here.”

“Big.....sister?”

You’re genuinely confused.

“You....don’t want anything from me?” you squeak.

“No,” she assures you. “I just want you, baby sister.”

“Wh...what do you mean by that?”

“Exactly what I said. I want you to be my baby sister. I want you to become part of our family.”

“So....you’re not gonna throw me out onto the street?”

“Never!” Anya hugs you even tighter. “I love you too much to toss you aside, Erik loves you too much to toss you aside. You are not trash and you never will be. You are our sweet and precious baby sister and you always will be.”

Hearing this, your tears of fear slowly turn into tears of relief. 

“And even if you weren’t our baby sister,” she says. “Though I’m glad that you are now, you were born for a reason. You have worth and value, trash doesn’t have worth or value.”

“Can’t it be made into compost?” you sniffle.

“Perhaps,” she tells you. “But you wouldn’t be the compost in the garden.”

“....What would I be then?” you ask innocently.

“You? You would be the loveliest flower in the entire garden, baby sister.”

“Are you sure that wouldn’t be you?”

Anya blushes at this.

“Maybe we’d both be lovely flowers then,” she says. “And our silly big brother would be a silly bunny who tries to eat the vegetables nearby.”

“Hey!” Erik arrives just in time to hear this. “I resemble that remark!”

“Don’t you mean resent?” you ask, looking at him in confusion.

“I know what I said,” he answers confidently.

You and Anya giggle as he sets down the glass of water, ice and straw included. 

“Would you like me to stay with you tonight, baby sister?” Anya asks.

You nod.

“What about your strong big brother?” Erik asks. “I could stay with you.”

“You’re the silly big brother.” Anya smiles.

“Am not!”

Anya sticks her tongue out at him and he sticks his out at her. You start giggling. Hearing this Anya’s heart melts and she squeezes you tightly.

“So precious.....so adorable!” she squeals.

“Air! Air!” you gasp out.

Anya loosens her grip and blushes. 

“Sorry....cute aggression got ahold of me.”

“So do you want me to stay with you?” Erik asks.

“I kinda wanna snuggle up with my big sister tonight, sowwy.” You look at Erik with puppy-dog eyes. 

He tries to hide his melting heart.

“That’s fine,” he says. “But first.....tickle attack!”

He speeds over to you and tackles you, tickling you. You squeal and giggle, trying to tickle him back. Anya giggles as well, but soon uses her magic to end the tickle war.

“Alright, alright,” she giggles. “Let’s not get her heart pumping so late at night.”

Anya turns to you.

“How about I tell you a fairytale, baby sister?” she asks.

“Which one?” you wonder.

“My favorite one,” she smiles.

Hearing this Erik groans.

“The same story? Really?”

“The Golden Slipper is a beautiful fairytale!” Anya exclaims. 

“But it’s the only one you’ll tell. Always slipper, slipper, slipper.”

“Because it’s beautiful and I have it memorized.”

“I like it too,” you nod, giving him puppy-dog eyes again.

His heart melts and you know it, no matter how much he’s trying to hide it.

“Fine.....but it’s gonna be a thing for you two tonight. I’m gonna go somewhere slipper-free.”

He rushes back to his bedroom. Anya rolls her eyes, smiling.

“If he tries to run off next time, I’m going to turn him into a bunny rabbit,” she whispers to you. 

You giggle and the two of you snuggle under the covers as she tells you the tale once again, petting your head. Even with a soft and gentle voice, she still manages to be expressive. Once she finishes telling the story, she softly sings her favorite Ukrainian lullaby. Her angelic voice and her calming embrace lull you further into sleep. 

And for the first time in years, you feel safe.

I'm at work right now and I just finished the chapter! I'm going to make this fast lol!

I don't know what to say... The chapter made me feel all emotions! I was smiling like an idiot when oc remembered Pingu. That is so funny how she remembered him! It was so cute how Jungkook was telling oc about the fond memories they had during their marriage. I was hoping it would continue like that, but it didn't DUN DUN DUUNNN.

I understand why he panicked when oc found out they were married. She didn't talk to him for TWO YEARS! I wonder what happened between them. I have so many questions! Like did oc have the picture frames still hanging when Jungkook went to put them away? Was Jungkook living in that apartment for the whole two years? Or did he come back from somewhere else and got it as soon as it was possible? It makes sense why Misuk doesn't like him. I can also understand why he reacted like he did when oc asked him if he loves her. Like he was telling her pre-amnesia self that he does love her. In a way, I feel like he's taking advantage of this opportunity to hopefully start fresh with her. But how long will this last? He knows he has a time limit before she has her memories back. Will the new good memories erase the bad ones? I still firmly believe it has something to do with the coffee shop girl. And I think oc caught them cheating in the park that they always go to. Makes sense why there are bad memories tied to the park! That's why Jungkook wants to create good ones in the park. Because, like, why would you take her to the park on the first date? There has to be a motive lol.

What also got me wondering was the scene where oc saw a shadow pass by. What was that? For some reason, I thought she might be schizophrenic. How she couldn't differentiate what was real and what wasn't. Especially when she doesn't have all her memories. OR SHE HAS A STALKER. SINCE IT WAS A HIT AND RUN AND THIS IS A CRIME AU. But I don't think it is lol. What I really want to know is when is Seokjin coming in? I want to know what drama will occur when he comes in lmaooo.

Also, phew! That sofa scene was too steamy! Jungkook was ready to give in and take her right there and then. I'm glad he didn't since they didn't talk for two years because that would make things WORSE.

I can no longer wait Brinny! I need to know what happens next! I'm literally on the edge of my seat. But sighhhhhh, I will just have to be patient lol. But as always, amazing chapter! Love how you can capture the suspense/build up!

You narrow your eyes at him. “Is this some elaborate ruse to scam me?”

He laughs then, a boisterous sound that blends right into the nonstop chatter of tourists around you. “You really think I’d go to this much trouble if I were really a pickpocket?” Then he points to a middle-aged woman sitting alone on a bench near you, eyes glued to her phone and not caring about her bag laying fully open for anyone with ill intent to easily pick up. “I’d just go for those kinds of people and call it a day. You’re pretty but don’t flatter yourself.”

aaaand ‘breakable heaven’ is a brother’s best friend au, sort of secret relationship au in which jk and oc shared a kiss right before she left to go study abroad but now she’s back and fluffy goodness ensues :’) here’s a lil smth!

Taehyung and Jimin chime in about how Jungkook hasn’t been on a date nor seen any action in forever, and even Yoongi throws in his two cents, encouraging him to get out and meet new people.

Your fingers play with the paper label of the bottle to distract yourself from the anxiety that builds in your stomach. It’s like he’s dragging this out on purpose.

“No, thanks,” he says finally, and your heart sags with relief. Jungkook leans back and pretends to play with the threads loosened from the cushion underneath him, but his pinky hooks around yours behind your back, away from all prying eyes. “I already like someone else.”

Lol yes to Eddie kissing everyone except Steve bc he knows he can’t get away w it unless it’s everyone but he doesn’t wanna deal with Steve’s complaining afterwards 😂

Also I think tow the lesbian wedding & 2 parties could work with Chrissy & her mom’s relationship (modified oc). People like Laura usually have a lot of repressed anger towards their own parents for forcing their kids to fit their molds, so they continue the cycle and take it out on their own kids. I don’t see Laura becoming a great person overnight, but I could see her potentially realizing that a lot of her hostility towards Chrissy was bc she was rebelling against all the things that Laura herself was not able to rebel against when she was Chrissy’s age, leading her to deceiving to leave her husband bc he was her Jason. And then after her party, she and Jonathan can commiserate about their parents’ divorces (which is one of my favorite Rachel and Chandler moments). Also could definitely see every thing else from that episode happening: Nancy getting pissed bc no one is enjoying her party, Robin and Steve getting all the hot girls to come to their party, Jonathan secretly smuggling guests out of Nancy’s party, Eddie fully willing to make an absolute ass of himself to keep Chrissy’s parents separate, Steve kissing Laura to distract her from the dad leaving 😂😂

Honestly, I’ve been looking for an excuse to write Laura Cunningham with a little bit of nuance in one of my stories for a while now, but I’ve been hesitant because I’m not sure how welcoming the fandom would be to an alternate interpretation of her character. Not saying she’s not definitely implied to be abusive in canon, but we also only get a very tiny glimpse of Chrissy’s home life in episode one. And we know that Vecna likes to make someone appear to say or do things that they’d never say or do in real life—he does it with Lucas and Max later on.

(But I also know that my opinion may be biased because I have a great relationship with my own mom and dad. Someone who has experienced abuse from their parents is probably a lot less willing to give an implied abuser the benefit of the doubt, and that’s totally valid.)

Anyway, all that to say I’m definitely open to bringing Laura into the story and unpacking some of her and Chrissy’s trauma, maybe giving her at least the start of an implied redemption arc? That episode would be a great opening for it. I’ve always loved Rachel’s scene with her mom where her mom says “You didn’t marry your Barry, but I did.”

I agree—the later scene between her and Chandler is so great, especially since those two didn’t have a lot of one-on-one scenes together that weren’t comedic. And we all know how much I love Jonathan and Chrissy’s friendship! I can absolutely see them having a quiet little moment out in the hall—she puts her head on his shoulder and they just sit in silence for a few beats.

Everything else is totally perfect as well—obsessed with the idea of Steve taking the bullet and kissing Laura to distract her. Maybe she slaps him afterward, but she’s a little dazed because that’s just the Steve Harrington effect lmao

I’ll have to do some brainstorming to figure out the logistics/timeline, but I’ve been seriously considering adapting this episode for a while now, and I’m glad y’all are interested to read it, too!

I sent another ask maybe a week ago but you were in Europe and I think tumblr ate it anyways lmao. The job I got was DOOKIE it stunk, my coworkers were a toss up between older and hypocritical like getting people in trouble for every little thing and then showing up hours late to being younger than me and opening talking about hentai with customers around like it’s nothing, but it’s okay cause I have to leave it anyways. My dad has to leave for his job for 3 months give or take so it’ll just be me and my brother and neither of us can drive lol. He was my ride to work so I’ll just be vibing until he comes back unless I can find something super close to work at. BUT my hamster did escape because he chewed through his roof the other day and my brother found him, he was out less than two hours but now I’m watching him like a hawk. Overall though I am doing pretty well, I keep looking at all my drafts and feeling them judge me as I start something new or ignore them for a video game. I have however been rotating one of my ocs in my brain like a music box ballerina, I love him too much. I started a game I played when I was like 12 and I can see a lot of similarities between that and my ocs stories even though I didn’t remember the game at all and I’m like. This game required my brain, didn’t it? But I’m doing good I’m hanging out, how have you been it seems like things have been eventful - 🤍

Its hard to explain what i mean since it’s kind of broad and i dont want to give super detailed examples here for a reason, but like…

I think its like. If it’s funny, it’s okay? But sometimes, you sort of know when they take a joke super seriously that the charas are now insanely out of character? Like. I get it if you want it to just stay as humor but in a way its also like “but u’re taking this so seriously that idk if i should treat as a joke/not seriously or if i should treat it seriously and say that it doesnt make sense”.

This particular example i mentioned is from a specific experience i had with (name). Like. It was to the point where pointing out that the charas aren’t like that made them sorta give off the vibe of “idc cause its funny to me and i make the rules of my canon. Why so srs lol”. Like thank god they understood what they had in their head is fanon but still its so jarring to me that i didn’t take what they were doing seriously at all. Its funny and nothing made sense but man y’all are really butchering these characters here.

It was something that particularly bothered me since there were a few instances where it went towards being mildly disrespectful of stuff just for the sake of going “haha funny” which HAS irked me on a few occasions.

I have more to say about it where like? They were suggesting a joke about smth i had with a self insert-ish oc and my fave, but it was kind of… poorly explained and i didnt rly liked that? It was a little funny the first time but they kept recycling the joke cause its “comedy” and i actually had an intricate canon that has comedic elements but is otherwise not a product to be solely a comedy or a rom-com even. Like… it’s a funny joke but i also didn’t rly understand why they made the joke like that? So its badly timed. But i didnt rly know how to tell them i didnt really get it and if i can get some clarification at the time so i kinda ended up sounding dry about it after a while. Cause i didnt want to tell them directly to stop since we’re all just chatting and sharing ideas here, but like. It made me uncomfy cause i felt like i’m forced to find it funny or otherwise i’m no fun and boring to talk to. In hindsight, i really should’ve asked honestly?

Like im not rly their friend or talking to them anymore cause it was that former art friend i vented about a while back and they had more going on for them.

But i will say this though, i’m glad i’m not their friend now. Less about their ideas and what they talked about but how they treated me as a person and the way they acted after they cut me off and i did the same?? Like they got insanely paranoid and shit. It was to the point where i am pretty sure someone else talked about it like “i see someone make a whole post about pruning mutuals if ppl dont respond but end up not doing anything about it and im still their mutual anyways” and like… while i get it, it kinda gave me some horrid red flags and also???

Just to talk about this person for a little bit longer before i get back on topic: i unblocked them after almost half a year cause i wasn’t mad at them anymore and they… blocked me back AFTER i unblocked them cause i was looking through some muted accs and shit on twitter to see if i should unmute them or smth and i was like “Bro what???? Gurl why???” Like… how DID u know i unblocked u like huh???? I just blocked them again cause idrc about them but that was sure weird lol

I kinda want to gripe about that more since. Man… that’s kinda unsettling. LIKE i’m flattered that i’m always on their mind, but it was kinda unnerving in some ways cause like it just meant they were potentially stalking me or smth. I wasn’t even chatting with a lot of ppl on twit enough for my tweets to pop up in the algo but who knows??? I just assumed the bitch got me blocked or muted or smth so i am out of sight, out of mind. But that also ended setting off more flags than it should. And when i went to reblock them, they apparently had some read byf thing on their profile which they never had before i blocked them so like honestly, they prolly did it cause they thought i was actually a toxic amurrican out to make a call out post on them or smth. I wouldnt be surprised if they had a dni thing where i’m on the list like namedropped or an oddly specific vague. Like… idk i felt like all their small passive/silent actions and gestures towards me over the past couple years was well…. Reminding me a lot of my exfriend too? Like in a different flavor. I hope they grow out of it cause i dont think they’re a bad person, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Now back to the topic— yeah sometimes making some ppl too ooc for the sake of telling a joke rubs off on me wrong? Like how some ppl just take a joke and make it canon now cause it’s funny when it desecrates all the charas stand for 😭
