kendall — the boy prince with a crown of thorns, imprisoned at the top. he overlooks the city, painfully distant from it all. a reflection in broken glass haunts him; his father, the waiter, himself. shattered and bloodied and dripping onto him still. so high and so blue, a puzzle barely together. his gaze tells you he knows how pathetic he is.

connor — the relatable uber-rich. the eldest son, forgotten, overtaken by the background. his political ambitions are yet another hobby to fill a void; his ranch, his wine, his presidency. he is pastel, faded, swathed in republican red that even then is all vanity. sees himself in screens. he is blowing away in the wind.

roman — doing the dirty work in the dirty room. he's ready to sling over offers and quick wit but there is a childishness about him, like he's scrawled in crayon. something's off, something's wrong with him and you can't figure out what exactly. he lives within it, then: slimy and blood-hot and close. his eyes dart around. the trained dog that might just bite when he's nervous.

shiv — all that effort to go nowhere. a girl with a pearl earring: wealthy, intriguing, unknowable. can't be bothered to face you fully, but baring her back in the process. bathed in the lines of light that her father gives her in inches. she is doomed to be pushed, and to be helped back up, which might be worse than the falling. exuding something sharp, startling, hot pink: forever pinky.

Thinking again about this common theme of like, Franziska being less of a "genius" than Miles. When like objectively it's just untrue! I mean she became a prosecutor when she was only 13 (in the same year Miles became one at 20), she only had wins up until Phoenix (just like Miles or her father) and she still feels like she's lagging behind, like she's not catching up. i know most of us know this and are basically already asking these questions only rhetorically but the reason corporations don't make their TOS clearly worded and Google shows you helpline numbers when you look up "list of eating disorders" and Tumblr just won't let you look up hundreds of words most of which have no clear meaning is because of plausible deniability being the basis of all legal defense. we banned your account but not the other one who was doing the same shit because it was against the rules in your case and not against the rules in the other case. because we said so. you get the suicide helpline when you Google whatever because then it's your fault if you kill yourself with instructions you googled because they did everything they "could" to stop you. twitch banned you for adult content and not the other girl because more people reported you and they didn't want to deal with actually moderating, but the blurry TOS will cover their ass either way. that's it, that's always the reason "why"

actual laws are written the same way, so cops and the government can squint and interpret that whatever you did, including just existing in an area, was actually a crime that justifies your imprisonment, and only the people with enough resources to fight stupid arguments in court for months or years will be able to get out of paying a fine or going to prison

au where pre-death jason is very aware of the drake kid’s presence, because timothy fucking drake freaks him out.

jason knows that drake’s watching him. sure, every time he looks behind his back at school tim’s eyes are looking elsewhere, but he can feel the kid’s eyes burning two holes into him.

also, one time jason checked out a book from the school library, and the day after he returned it, he saw timothy drake reading the very same book! coincidence? he thinks not.

and this is more out there, but jason swears he can feel tim watching him on patrol too. and yes, that’s unlikely since no one should know his secret identity, BUT HE CAN FEEL THE EYES.
