Headcanons for the Witcher story I'm currently working on
Vesemir: Has taken up gardening. Currently trying to bring the rose bushes on his property back to life.
Aiden: Owns a Maserati. Lives on espresso shots. Collects tiny figurines of animals.
Lambert: Borrows Aiden's Maserati (regularly). Spends a small fortune on Lego sets. Has the most expensive, stylish and impersonal flat.
Eskel: Right now recovering from the injury that gave him the scars as well as from serious heartbreak. Loves to end the day with hot chocolate.
Geralt: Chill big brother who holds everything together (don't tell Vesemir). (I'm still fleshing out a hobby for him.)
Letho: Does yoga. Listens to classical music. Loves white tea.
Gaetan: Listens to Industrial and Noise during training and Future Pop to calm himself down. Runs the Database at Headquarters. Loves Japanese food and learns Japanese (in secret).

19. most disliked popular books?
ooooh thats an interesting question!! thank you for asking!
the first ones that come to mind are they both die at the end, addie la rue, and the midnight library! I dont necessarily hate them, I just found myself generally left a bit disappointed by them and/or had issues with how they played out. I also havent read any colleen hoover books but I feel like they would end up here, from what I’ve heard about them..!

rules: in a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as you feel like.
I was tagged by @akhuna and have put off answering for a while partly because I've not been writing or drawing a huge amount, but also because when I have, I've forgotten I had this xD
This is from the starter I wrote for @queenoftheunifrogs yesterday for an rp thread featuring my OC's Tygo & Lily, and her OC's Owen & Will.
Cocky smile back in place, he turned to face the newcomers.
And yes, it's from Ty's pov.

When Axel is cast out from his school, his only chance of surviving is to defeat the icy mountain range that leads down Kaer Seren. His chances are tiny, his spite against his former brothers all the bigger. If he should make it, he wants to start a new life - with people as reckless as himself.
Hey! New year, new story set in the Witcher verse. There's definitely too few fics of Axel out there, so naturally, I had to write one for him. I update the story on Mondays at 7 pm CET. I hope you enjoy it. Kudos and comments mean the world to me. Once again, the wonderful @akhuna betaread this story. Thank you so much, bestie!

the very noble @akhuna tagged me, so I got to think through this nice set of questions!
1. smile, nod, bow—the whole nine yards, really. sometimes I’ll throw a salute or a peace sign. it’s a rare day indeed when I resort to finger guns, but it has happened.
2. I do not like Flannery O’Connor in the slightest. as someone from the American south, her project has always struck me as mean-spirited more than anything; while I can appreciate some of her essays on writing-as-craft, on the whole I find her way of seeing to world—and people—to be deeply ungenerous.
3. yes! Peanuts by Charles Schulz has been my companion since I was five or six. most of my comics are falling apart now; things printed in the 1960s seem to have landed on really acidic paper, and there’s not a lot I can do to preserve the copies from my childhood. but I love them still.
4. the last funny dream I had involved me trying to throw an insulting hand gesture at someone, only to realize that I don’t know any really insulting hand gestures and just sort of flailing and retreating.
5. oh gosh, there were many. I re-read Peter Pan several times a year, and various compilations of Robin Hood’s adventures kept me up at night. the Anne of Green Gables series was well-loved, and I latched onto any anthology of horse stories I could find. The Chronicles of Narnia, though, really flavored my childhood through adolescence.
6. this is impossible for me to place, unfortunately! when I learned to read I became very sneaky very quickly and smuggled a bunch of my parents’ old issues of Reader’s Digest. I wasn’t choosy; I found things and ran off with them. there was a point when I went through some cookbooks as well, I think.
7. rain for reading, sunshine for jaunts
8. something that can’t be narrowed, honestly! I would love to find a pair of ferrets, or a tarantula, or maybe a bookshelf cat. if everything’s possible, I would love to have a dog; it’s been some time since I had a friend to join me on my walks.
9. I’ve got a sweet tooth, especially for pastries.
10. so many things I’d love to learn. if the sky’s the limit, then another language; I know enough Spanish that I think Italian wouldn’t be a total shock, but German seems like a good time as well. I’m fairly sure that I could get by with reading French, and just as confident that I could in no way manage to speak it without a teacher!
if you’ve made it through this and you’d like to have a whirl at some questions, here are a few!
1) what’s the last thing you borrowed from a library?
2) describe your ideal takeout situation
3) are you sanguine in a peacoat or brooding in a trench coat?
4) what makes the perfect mug/teacup/flagon?
5) how often do you buy socks? if you don’t buy them, how are you acquiring socks? what do you have to say about socks?
6) what’s a staple on your grocery list, and why is it baking soda?
7) what do you write in the margins?
8) can you poach an egg?
9) you have three minutes and twenty dollars in a confectioner’s shop: what are you buying?
10) a bird will follow you, in hops and skips and flaps, for the rest of your life. who is this bird?
thanks again, @akhuna, for an absolute treat! @hope-inthedark and @acevampyre and @delaneyjoyce and @fenriff , you don’t have to read this whole screed, but do let me know about that bird sometime.

My Decade in Books
I was tagged by @bookbandit and @lexi-rose-studyblr
Rules: respond to the prompt “decade in books” however you want, & then tag some ppl!
I’m choosing to put down books that had a big impact on me whether because the book just left a lasting impression or because it changed the way I read.
2010: The Haunted Vagina by Carlton Mellick III. Please forgive me for that title, honestly it isn’t even the worst one. This book is in the genre of bizarro fiction. I found it in 2010 and probably read another 13 books by this author until I stopped in 2013. They were like a 10x more vulgar and grotesque version of Chuck Palahniuk without the poetry and beautiful writing he has. Or even a real plot. Kind of like shocking for the sake of it and sometimes there was a message. Quick reads with interesting ideas. I enjoyed all of them, but they were obscene and I could not get back into them. It was a wonderful and interesting time though. I ended up reading more because of these books and it showed me that I should try books from any genre because you never know what you could miss.
2011: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo. I loved this book. It has stuck with me through the years. If I ever had to recommend a book for everyone to read, it would be this one. It is haunting and bleak and I cannot forget it. I swear at least once a month I think about this book. ALSO, One by Metallica is based on this book.
2012: Great year for books! Um, I have to pick multiple books for this. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, ASOIAF by George R. R. Martin, and The Devil in The White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson. The Book Thief had me crying like a baby and it is one that I am so thankful that I read because I remember that gut wrenching feeling while reading it and it reminds me why I love books so much. ASOIAF has become my favorite series. I absolutely loved the books and characters and am waiting for the next two books. The series was my favorite read that year. The Devil in the White City was important for me because it introduced me to Erik Larson. I’ve read two books by him and I own another two. I think he showed me that non-fiction, that isn’t a memoir, can still be interesting and that I should give it a chance, before then I didn’t feel that way.
2013: The Stand by Stephen King. I finally finished the book I had started and stopped for the past 10 years. It was wonderful, best Stephen King book to me, and just reminded me that I absolutely love his writing, especially when it comes to his large novels.
2014: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. This was the year I stopped reading like I used to. On May 28th, I was standing in front of my bookshelf around 7:30 in the morning trying to figure out what book to grab as my grandma was being taken to the hospital. I had to do this same thing about two months earlier and ended up staying overnight for two days and wanted to make sure I had a book. She always pulled through, we just ended up waiting a while. Well, she didn’t pull through. Apparently, she was dead before we were even told to go to the hospital. She had died in the ambulance and my grandpa didn’t want to tell us so we could drive safely. The Kite Runner was the book I grabbed that day. It took me four months to finish it. This is when my depression truly began, where I was too deep in my grief that I needed help. Prior to this, I would read about 60-70 books a year. I know the biggest symptom of depression is losing the enjoyment or desire to engage in the things you once loved. I think I always kept thinking about how could I be looking for a book as she was dying. Why didn’t I treat it more seriously? My reading habits haven’t been the same since. Every time I think of The Kite Runner, it reminds me of my grandma’s death. It was an amazing book, and it was sad and dark too, which probably made it even harder to read at the time. This one decision I think made me resent books or just the correlation between the two made reading too painful for me.
2015: The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht. Of the 7 books I read that year, it was the only one I absolutely enjoyed.
2016: Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. I joined an academic quiz team at the end of 2015, but 2016 was the year that I got active in it. I excelled at it because I had been such a big reader and therefore I knew a lot of books, whether I read them or not, especially since I had the habit of buying books and not reading them. I read Things Fall Apart because it kept coming up and quiz team and it sounded like a great book. I loved it and the ending made me so angry. Any book that makes me feel strong emotions usually becomes a favorite.
2017: A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I needed this book to help me process by grandma’s death and to help me deal with my depression. This book hurt my heart, and I identified so strongly with the boy. I’ve made emotional connections with books before, but the feelings this book brought up came from the deepest parts of me. It was a cathartic read and I would recommend it to anyone who has struggled or is struggling with the death of a loved one. Be prepared for how painful it can be to read this.
2018: Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan. I only read six books that year and this was the one I liked best.
2019: The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I finally got back into reading last year and I have Tumblr to thank for it. Anyway, I had made a goal on Tumblr to read more books that I owned and this was one that I owned, so I went for it. This was my favorite read of 2019. I didn’t think I would like it because I disliked the writing when I first started. The book pulls you in and the writing and lack of detail in the beginning all make sense and it works. It was a great read and only made me want to read more of the books I own by him.
Thanks for tagging me, this was fun. Sorry, this is so long!
I will tag @darkestwings, @bookofmirth, @akhuna @cathaveryreads, and anyone else who wants to do this!! Please tag me if you make a post!

I got tagged by @akhuna and have been looking forward to writing this out all day :) thank you!!!
Here are the rules:
❀ This tag is for those books that came to you in an unusual, interesting, funny, or sweet way. Pick 5 (or more if you want) books from your shelf and tell us the story of how you came to own that book. If you’re a public library user and don’t really own any books, you can still participate. Just tell us the most interesting/funny/sweet ways you came to find a particular library book.
Tag your posts #ShelfHistory so I can see them all!
When you’re finished, tag 5 (or more) readers whose Shelf-History you’d like to know about! This one can easily be done on any blogging/vlogging platform so feel free to tag cross-platform if you really want to. ❀
1) Chocolat by Joanne Harris - I read a fic that was loosely based on this book and resolved to find it ASAP. The problem being I lived in the middle of nowhere Ohio and the nearest Actual Bookstore was like an hour away and I didn’t drive. But I happened to go to that bookstore with my mom soon after reading the fic, looked in the bargain bin, and....there it was! One single copy of Chocolat resting atop the pile, like it had been waiting for me.
2) The Terror by Dan Simmons - I was in my late-winter slump and happened to run across a list of mysterious disappearances that made me feel intrigued (rather than depressed). One of the things on the list was the Franklin expedition, so I read up on it and came across the book, then after reading that the wonderful show, and the amazing fandom on here :)
3) Circe by Madeline Miller - My sister @earlgreyhaught told me a ton of times that I would love this book, and I just happened to read it before/during the first trip I went on in....years. And it just really became intertwined with my memories of the trip--which was so much fun--and I feel like added a certain depth to the experience as well. Plus it felt so amazingly familiar while reading it; just an important book to me with a rich personal backstory/buildup.
4) Sherlock Holmes series by Arthur Conan Doyle - I don’t remember why but I picked this up my freshman year of college and just LOVED it so so much. In middle school I distinctly remember reading the Hounds of Baskerville and being bored out of my mind, but when I read it again in college it was just perfect timing somehow and it became a really big part of my college life. I used to sit in and by the hot tub at the rec center and just read these stories for hours. Plus there are so many good television adaptations!!
5) Jedi Apprentice series by Jude Watson - I first read these in middle school and have reread them many, many times. Some of the hardest times in my life (especially anxiety-wise) these books have guided me through, and the wisdom in the stories has been there for me when no one else was. I finally ordered the full set a few years ago. A fun fact-- I happened to email the author without expecting a reply and basically told her all the stuff I just said. She replied within a week with a very kind response, and it really meant a lot<3
I tag anyone who wants to participate!! Off the top of my head.... @thiswaitingheart @watertightvines @goldalarm @theiceandbones @professorerudite @earnestscribblr but no pressure :)

1. Are you named after anyone? No.
2. When was the last time you cried? Last week in therapy. Fun times.
3. Do you have kids? No, and I don’t want any of my own. I spent ten years babysitting other people’s kids and I’m qualified to say I do not enjoy it in general.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes, usually when I’m uncertain or want to annoy someone.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? General things; posture, whether they make eye contact, clothes and other visual stuff, and body language.
6. What’s your eye color? Bluish gray.
7. Scary movie or happy ending? I like both!
8. Any special talents? I write and draw, and have a lot of patience to practice them both. I’m also pretty good with languages and know how to knit socks.
9. Where were you born? Jyväskylä, Finland.
10. What are your hobbies? Writing, drawing, knitting, video games.
11. Do you have any pets? No. ;__; I’m allergic to anything with fur.
12. What sports do you play/have you played? Hoo boy, that’s quite a list. I’ve been a competitive swimmer. Then came karate, kickboxing, aikido, and BJJ (in that order and not all at the same time.) The latest obsessions have been rock climbing and classic powerlifting, which I still do whenever mental health permits.
13. How tall are you? 5′10″ or 180cm. I’m tall and big, and I like it so much.
14. Favorite subject in school? Languages and literature, plus biology.
15. Dream job? Pretty much what I do now, meaning mechanic’s work. I’d like to fix rock drills, harvesters, and other such big machines in the future!
