let's talk about labels

Hanging around the queer part of reddit, I see A LOT of posts that has a variation on the "am I trans/ace/pan/gay/bi...." followed by a message I rarely read, because the answer is always the same.

If this label feels like a good description of your lived experience and feels right, then YES.

And it bothers me a lot, because it shows a fundamental problem with how we perceive labels. Labels are code words used to describe a lived experience. instead of having to explain every time, you use a label. I am gay I am bisexual I am asexual I am aromantic I am non binary I am queer

all those words tell you a story about the person that uses the label. and stories change, and so does labels. A label is not a thing to be permanent or must define your entire existence, it is a word to explain your lived experience up to that point in life.

Gatekeeping labels is therefore not only dumb, but also harmful. YOU DON'T get to write other peoples stories, YOU DON'T get to determine how they experience the world.

NO ONE, and I mean it NO ONE gets to tell you you are not enough of something when talking about your experience. YES, you are asexual enough to be ace, even when you like having sex sometimes. YES you are gender queer enough even when you present yourself according to your assigned gender YES you are trans enough even when you don't transition YES you are bi/pan enough even when you never dated someone out of a certain gender group YES you are

Labels should be a tool that we use to communicate, not a jail cell.

So yeah, if it feels right, you are. No need for further information No questions ask YOU ARE

I'm so sorry that my blog has literally just become all about my Mother in Law's descent to the underworld at the moment but when I say it's consumed my entire waking life because she literally won't accept care from anyone but me and even I'm struggling to get her to accept the care she claims to want from me, that's really like ... Understating it massively. And with family now converging I am also having to feed an army of people on top of it all.

I do not exist. I do not know what or who I am right now. I am not a person. I likely won't be for a while, and I am so sorry to everyone for that.

I actually typed this up for my mom who asked the same question but here if you're curious:

BISS = Best in Specialty Show (she got this for winning Silkenfest 2023)

BOSS = Best Opposite Sex in Specialty Show (the winner of the Boofest specialty was a male, and so she was selected as the best female)

ABISS = Altered Best in Specialty Show (winning Best in Show in the altered classes)

HIT = High in Trial (highest score across all classes for the day in rally/obedience)

ISWS Ch = Conformation champion through our breed club

UKC Ch = Conformation champion through the United Kennel Club

UKC RO1 = UKC rally novice title (UKC puts these titles in front of the reg name)

Sundance Wings of Inanna is her registered name

RN = AKC rally novice title

ATD = Advanced Trick Dog though Do More with Your Dog

RATI = Rat Instinct (found a rat in the sport of barn hunt lol)

CGC = Canine Good Citizen (AKC)

SPOT = the UKC equivalent of CGC

Do you mean what each of the letters in the acronym Q.U.I.L.T.B.A.G stand for (Besides truth, equity, and justice, of course)?

It's:

Q = Queer U = Unsure (questioning) I = Intersex L = Lesbian T = Trans B = Bisexual A = Ace (spectrum) G = Gay

I didn't come up with it. One of my mutuals over on Dreamwidth mentioned that they liked it, years ago (I don't know if they came up with it, either). And I agreed with them, so I've been using it.

If that's not what you're asking, though, I'm not sure I understand the question.

I wonder how many iterators cared about Sliver before she died. We don't really see her talked about much outside her death and that's kinda fucked up to me. Imagine everyone only caring about you because you're dead now. Not because you're now lost forever, but because it was the only thing good to look at you for. Did anyone care for her at all, except for possibly Moon? As things are, nobody but her seemed to value Sliver as a person, at least from what we see. Only in her passing did she matter, but that doesn't mean those who do value her now miss her.

I got to go out and see the sun today 😭 We just did adulting things like picking up my Meds, getting a few things from WalMart, grabbing Vape Juice for my Husband, etc. But I walked! It was hell, and I am in so much pain now, but I walked!

I walked the whole time around Homeland, and around WalMart, and I went into the Vape Shop with him (I was hoping to get some CBD Oil at the Vape Shop, but no dice. They don't carry it anymore 😞). For lunch we just went through the drive through so I could have some rest finally.

Now I'm going to eat my Burger King, take a bath, and then do a massive amount of TENS / EMS / MA therapy on my leg. And with any luck, the walking I did today will help somewhat as much (though hopefully just as much) as it did last time, on Wednesday 🤞

FCG and FRIDA's relationship reminds me of middle school kids getting into their first relationships. Giggly, fumbling, blushing messes, "what if we... you know 👉👈 held hands 😳", jumping right to the "I love you's", the innocence in the inexperience and excitement at the newness.
