Sans do you ever feel that something might be missing?

Maybe he felt like that at some point, maybe for a long time. In the present, I think he's made some kind of peace with it.

Also, I really like the ask blog format, but I don't really mean this to be an ask blog.

Would alphys fuck an alternate universe version of herself or is her self loathing that strong

Sidenote is it truly ooc if sans also fucked an alternate universe of himself

she absolutely would. hands down. so much of alphys' self loathing is tied to other people's perception of her, of the damage she inflicted on others. the only person she's gonna screw up while screwing herself is well... herself! also, if they were allowed the chance to share their fuckups, they'd be on equal terms, so she wouldn't even have to deal with the tension of maintaining a persona

sans wouldn't fuck himself because sans wouldn't fuck. like 99.99% of the time, in any context. they would take advantage of the situation to pull pranks though

I know the recent brainrot is supposed to center on clover as a monster but I have to think that Kanako and Flowey would be dreadfully powerful as friends. Like, I have no idea exactly what they would do but I have the feeling they'd be pranksters of legendary potential

Or that like, without Clover there to be the angel on her shoulder, Kanako might listen to Flowey's ideas

So at the next checkup with Dr Alphys the two of them are like "hey you should get us ice cream" and Alphys is like "what no why would you do that" and the kids just go straight to "AAAAARGH AAAA MY SOOUUUUL IT BUUURNS WITH THE DETERMINAAAATION" and she'd give in and be all panicked and they'd exchange a goopy planty high-five behind her back

Anyway I'm rambling here but the point is I feel like Clover is the screwdriver keeping the Flowey-Kanako demon core from going critical do you see my vision

like yeah kanako and clover are disaster siblings but clover has SOME semblance of when to stop. flowey is the devil on kanako shoulder and clover is the angel.

also flowey and kanako torturing alphys with threats of their health is so funny. takes advantage of her guilt and inability to say no especially to children to get ice cream

Actually Sans can perfectly understand Wingdings and other skeletons could technically also understand him

It's just any other type of monster that wouldn't be able to understand him

Must be frustrating...

But he's got other ways to communicate

He can talk on the regular undertale font all the other characters use for certain amounts of time, if he puts some effort in it

(This is based on the fact that Sans can change font for short periods of time in undertale, so maybe other skeletons can too!

Also, in Deltarune, the voice we assume is Gaster is talking in the regular undertale font, not wingdings.)

that seems more like a papyrus kind of invention. sans would be like "can't you do that already though, dude?" and then papyrus would be like "WELL Y—wait. wait. hang on. i just had a vision let me cook.

it sounds like something ALPHYS would make for a cosplay, then post about on her undernet profile with like a little video and a dorky caption while papyrus is in her replies like "THIS IS VERY GOOD BUT WAS THE GOO REALLY NECESSARY"

i’ve been thinking about the logistics of undertale a little too much. biologically, what are monsters? like hypothetically what biological phyla would they fit under?

is this too niche of a question?

if it’s two races: humans vs. monsters, then there has to be a genetic difference in between the two sentient species. humans are mammals, descending from apes and the like, suggesting that monsters are inherently different from mammals entirely. however, we see monsters that heavily represent a lot of mammal species (dogs, goats, deer, etc) as well as a plethora of other animal-inspired characters (undyne having fish like qualities, alphys with lizard-like qualities).

do humans and monsters share the same common ancestor and just have adopted similar animalistic traits through convergent evolution, or are monsters something else entirely?

if the latter is true, i’m wondering if monster biology could be considered as something completely different than how we understand life. if we take into account that mr toby fox based the world of undertale on the scientific principles of our own (minus the whole concept of SOULs), given that monsters behave in a completely different nature than most living species, how exactly did they come to exist on earth?

basically, what if the monsters represented a seventh kingdom of life?

organisms are typically classified under six distinct kingdoms of life (Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Protista, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia). the first three kingdoms are basically microscopic, single celled organisms. the last three are probably the most familiar, being fungi, plants, and animals (with animals in this argument representing us, humanity, humans). monsters clearly don’t seem to fit into any of these categories

i mean, for one they (mainly) don’t bleed, instead decomposing into dust following the death of their physical bodies. like all other organisms, they run off energy, but this energy seems to be exuded outwards from a central point (their SOUL) rather than equally made and distributed throughout the cells of an organism like we see in all of the other six kingdoms.

essentially for us, yknow, mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. but i’m wondering if, for monsters, their SOUL serves as their mitochondria, in a way. it’s how they live and breathe. their food, too, is noted in undertale to be different than “food from the surface” or human food. it seems to completely rejuvenate their energy, instead of the traditional way that we as humans eat (by digesting other organisms). it seems that they don’t consume other organisms at all. instead their food is completely different and only MODELED after surface food (because yknow, they don’t exactly have digestive systems. take sans and papyrus for instance. real human food would just fall right through them probably).

ANYWAYS just some ramblings i could probably write a whole essay on this

The DT Experiment did work for a moment (still risky tho, not denying that)

But the instant regret of making the Amalgams was too much to handle

Will they EVER forgive Alphys?

she did try to help but also… her cowardice and inability to own up to her own mistakes resulted in family members being separated and in the dark, and monsters wandering an old dark lab area for years and forever changing their psyche…. she tried but she hurt so many people in the end that can never be reversed

all she had to do was be like “i may have celebrated too early, heres exactly what happened to your family, you can still come see them if you want” bc like… their family still would’ve loved them probably and they deserved to know no matter what happened. doctors send premature hopeful messages to patient’s families all the time, alphys just wasnt strong enough to own up to that

in terms of the uty cast, i dont think ceroba will ever forgive her; ceroba is already EXTREMELY tentative with letting her look at kanako and clover under intense supervision, but like. she is Not letting her kids be with alphys again, even if she knows alphys wont do anything again. she also just tends to hold grudges in general LMAO. kanako just hates what alphys did to her, and as a kid i think she hates her, but i think as she grows up she realizes that. alphys did the best she could and tried to give kanako a good life in the labs. still bitter and resentful bc there was no need to keep her there, but accepting that alphys did try her best to take care of them and had good intentions going in. she wasnt expecting anything that happened TO happen. i thunk kanako would forgive, but never forget the torment she was put through due to alphys
