The default question when people have little to no hope in Byler is, well, who the hell is Will going to end up with? Because it’s become increasingly evident that they’re trying to set him up for a romance. The “im not gonna fall in love”, the “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”, even the gif shown above. It all can be interpreted to mean that Will is going to find his person soon.

So... to be completely honest, I had no idea who Chance was until this ask popped up and I had to look him up💀. It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, so I’m a little rusty on the deep lore lmao. So, in the off chance that others might also be confused, here’s a (rare) gif of him I found.

I think that’s him with the Hawkins cap on the right. Correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m not sure where the rumors that this guy was going to become a bigger part of the show came from, but that seems highly unlikely to me. I feel like they would have either hinted at it in the fourth season (like how they’re giving Patrick here quite a sizeable role so that he’ll be memorable to us later when he gets vecnafied) or they would have announced him as a more prominent character already like how they did for s5 with Holly, that one new kid character, and also how they did Amybeth for s4. Idk, maybe it’s unreasonable to think they would have to do that, but it feels quite too out-of-the-blue. Especially for a character that would take on the role of becoming our central character’s love interest, which is a BIG DEAL. Especially if it’s queer lol.

Secondly, I firmly believe that it would be a disservice to Will’s own desires to meet someone new.

Will said this explicitly in the van scene, and as of now, we’re still under the impression that Mike is his person. Forget about Mike’s issues and feelings for a second, and think about what Will is saying here. He feels like a mistake for being different, but Mike makes him feel like he’s not a mistake at all, that he’s better for being different. Mike gives him courage to fight on. Fuck. Tbh, it makes me wonder how long he’d felt this way. As a byler, you might be inclined to think his feelings have been on for forever, but narratively, he could have easily just realized his own feelings very recently, most likely sometime between season 3 and 4. It doesn’t mean the feelings weren’t there before, but realistically neither Will nor the general audience were aware of it before now.

Moving on.

Has anyone heard of the rule of Chekhov’s gun? It’s an incredibly clever and widely-used tool in screenwriting and storytelling in general that helps to clue the watchers in for what’s to come next.

Think of Lucas’ wrist rocket in season 1. When they introduced it as a flimsy-looking, no-good weapon that he’d put too much pride in at first, it gives us a good laugh and we move on. But really, it very meticulously set us up to subconsciously anticipate to see it again later. That’s what Chekhov’s gun is all about. Set-ups, foreshadowing, hidden treasures.

Another great example would be the painting reveal of s4. Obviously, after finding out that Will was painting something, bylers immediately figured it was for Mike and BEGGED and HOPED and PLEADED that we’d be able to finally see it, but to the general audience it was just another something that they’d have to pick apart and realize was actually of importance as the season progressed. (It’s also a good way of showing that the writers are fully capable of engrossing the entire fan base and general audience in his and Mike’s story. Just knowing Will had painted something and that it was for Mike created this sense of PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT IS AND WJATS GOING ON and whatnot that watchers are simply so susceptible to it’s insane.)

Okay, back to the van scene. Will’s confession.

Now, I’m not saying that the writers intentionally used this foreshadowing tool for us to find and understand immediately. There are plenty, plenty of instances where writers use Chekhov’s gun principle and it flies over peoples heads purposefully. What I’m trying to say is that, thematically and narratively, they would never have introduced Wills feelings for Mike if not for it to have importance to the story, or for nothing to happen with it at all. It’s a set up. And a maddeningly good one, at that. Because queer stories already do tend to fly over people’s heads, and also because there’s the added drama between Mike and Eleven that makes it seem quite impossible for any of these feelings to be addressed in the midst of such emotional chaos. But whatever. I think I’m rambling.

Basically, whether they end up together or not, whether Mike reciprocates these feelings, Will is forever established to be in love with Mike. The confession was simply too grand and emotional and earnest for him to just switch up abruptly next season when he meets someone new that he might have a better chance with. Even if there were to be a whole new arc for him where he learns to let go of Mike or something crappy like that, it would be terrible writing on their end and poor use of a well-set-up Chekhov’s gun reference. It would be like introducing the gun in the display case in scene one, then two scenes later just tucking it away into a storage closet for the remainder of the story. Like… what?

And plus, it’s HIGHLY unlikely that Will would end up with that sort of storyline next season when he’s literally WITH Mike for presumably a majority of the time (based on the set pics so far).

So that’s my debunking of the Chance rumors :) and I didn’t even get to mention how incompatible they’d be just naturally as characters. Chance, a Jason-following jock that hates Dungeons and Dragons, fantasy and nerdy things, and willingly assisted in beating up the Hellfire Club when they were trying to find Eddie. What about that at all screams Will’s type? And if you’re thinking “unconventional couple enemies to lovers”, just don’t. This isn’t a rom-com, especially for a queer plot line lol. I think it’s safe to say there’s no “chance”😉 that they will ever happen. And either way, it’d be a bummer if they did. Cus it would just be Will defeatedly settling for someone that isn’t Mike.

UGH! It makes me sad that the one thing that is firmly being teased by the writers (Will’s love playing a major role in the plot to come) is constantly being questioned and framed as different questions. “Will Mike reciprocate?” “Does this mean Mike and Eleven break up?” “Who will end up with who?” SHHH Frankly, to me this is already a win. It’s become obvious that Will having feelings for him will come up again soon, and the rest of the evidence that accounts for Mike’s end already speaks for itself, so I prefer to just sit back and watch it all unfold.

I've seen some people put together some headcanons for Vickie and thought I'd share some of mine!! I love her so much Vickie my beloved blorbo...

First and foremost: truckgirl Vickie truckgirl Vickie truckgirl Vickie!!!!!! She drives a burgundy 1977 GMC Sierra she fixed with her dad over summer of '84, and she loves it. It's her baby. She has probably seriously considered becoming a mechanic as a career, and she loooves getting her hands dirty.

Has definitely named her truck. Can do that cool trick on flat roads where, if you shift gears smoothly, the car will keep rolling without gas! She uses this to woo Robin!! I know it in my heart!!!

I saw a post ages ago about drag racing in Hawkins because there's nothing else to do in bumfuck nowhere and tbh I see Vickie doing that too. Maybe her and Steve have bonded over driving fast or what have you?

She can do french and Dutch braids on herself, but gets a bit mixed up when trying to do others!

Her clothing aesthetic is sort of all over the place but she loves patterns. Classic patterns like houndstooth and paisley or more modern colour block or squiggly patterns. She probably mismatches patterns but colour coordinates.

I also think she likes long heavy skirts in winter, and sundresses in summer. Jeans and trousers are good but don't have the same patterns. Probably owns a few coveralls for working on cars. I see her rocking an overall look too. Anyways point is she's cute cute cute!

Listen...I would probably say this even if Amybeth wasn't in AWaE...but also. Vickie loves Anne of Green Gables. The sense of wonder and delight in everyday things really speaks to her. She's a simple small town girl, and sometimes it's complicated but sometimes it really isn't.

She knows she likes girls, but it's easier to only like boys. So even though she's had crushes on girls before she hasn't really done anything about them until she got a crush on and started getting vibes from Robin!

She thinks Robin is funny and charming. Like Robin will blurt out some sassy remark and Vickie have to stifle a giggle. Robin says goodnight to her trumpet as she puts it away and Vickie is like 😍😍

Lots of people whisper about Robin and Steve being weirdos but Vickie thinks they're cute! Yeah maybe they're incomprehensible in terms of whatever their deal is, but Vickie is entranced by this odd behaviour and wishes to know more. When stobin have silent conversations solely through eye contact and eyebrow movement at bizarre times Vickie's first thought is not "what is wrong with these freaks?" (derogatory) it is "what is wrong with these freaks?" (wants to put them in a jar)

Y’ALL NEED TO STOP ARGUING ABOUT BILLIE EILISH I SWEAR

She was obviously just being funny and in the comments of her post, it looks like other queer public figures (JVN, Lucy Dacus, Amybeth McNulty, Stevie Boebi, Alix Traeger, even Autumn Kennedy who runs tstourtips) are playing along in the comments. I think it’s heartwarming!

Yes, it’s clear she personally does not want to let the topic of her queerness overshadow her art in interviews, and she wasn’t quite ready for that follow up question from the Vareity interviewer. She looked nervous. she wanted to be able to come out casually and move on. (Perhaps she was just tired of being assumed straight or called a queerbaiter, and it was as simple as needing to quickly clear up public misconception. Which is so fair.)

All of that said, she could have taken into account that the media and public can be both dumb and malicious, and that they would try to twist her funky li’l IG vent out of context and then blame the sweet reporter, who was quite nice (plus queer and PoC herself!). To an extent Billie should have expected and prepared for the polite follow-up questions, considering that her ideal world (where sexuality isn’t a big deal) isn’t the world we’re living in yet, especially outside of rich celebrity circles. It is important information that she should clarify, even for her own protection from the media/public trying to twist her initial vague statements about attraction to women this way or that. Her team prepared her poorly.

(We can make the argument that the Variety reporter could perhaps have started with “Are you comfortable answering questions about your sexuality?” … but I’m sure if at any point Billie had said “Actually I would rather talk about my music or fashion right now,” the reporter would have immediately complied anyway. I think she makes it quite clear that she is a part of the community, and ally and a safe space and well intentioned. Billie was just put on the spot, she didn’t think of that route. And she wanted to vent on IG, because it must be so much to deal with when millions of people and the fucking BBC is suddenly talking about your sexuality. That’s all.)

Still, I agree with y’all in that Billie’s wording on the IG post was poor considering how the masses are unsurprisingly thinking of it as an accusation. Perhaps most importantly, using the word “outing” lightheartedly is tone deaf considering recent events where celebrities have been forced to come out or actually outed. And that’s something Billie could take away from the absolute media clusterfuck this is becoming.

Finally, I agree that she is very privileged and has a lot of influence she could use to support the LGBTQ+ community. But she’s still a person and she deserves to “come out” (or like, just start talking about her queerness) and have people not make a big deal about her identity if that is what’s most comfortable to her. This is a right all queer people should have regardless of their status. She doesn’t owe it to us to immediately become a queer spokesperson. Identity is hard for everyone. You guys are quickly forgetting how people accused her of queerbaiting back when she put out the Lost Cause MV and captioned a photo “i love girls”. (Why people are obsessed with labels, and the nuances of it are a whole other rant for another day, but I digress.) And honestly? She’s so right, leave her alone. She’s had fucking enough. Let queer people be.

TL; DR: Billie is not mad at any reporters for “outing” her. Billie doesn’t think anyone “outed” her in the first place! Billie is just annoyed that a big deal was made of her sexuality after she started talking about her queerness (which she did, intentionally and of her own accord, and also confirmed that it was a coming out of sorts from her end). She simply did not feel ready to talk about it again at 11:00 AM on the red carpet and all the attention was nerve-wracking. So she was venting using (albeit tone-deaf) hyperbolae on an IG post. The reporter was great, too, and absolutely should not be canceled. I hope this clears it up.

For what I've seen, the ST production team has been working all o this time since none of them are part of neither the WGA nor SAG-Aftra. This probably means they've advanced a lot of work. Do you think that once the strikes are over, this will make it easier for them to start filming as soon as possible or even for the filming process to take less time than initially predicted? (Around a year)

It’s possible.

But it’s also worth noting that them needing a full year to film ST5 is for a multitude of reasons.

With all the delays, they now have to rework their entire schedule post-strike, as it won’t look the same as it looked before the strike. They need to be able to fit dozens of cast-members schedules together to ensure that their availability aligns with other cast-members they have scenes with.

While ST does get first dibs more than the casts other projects because of their contract with Netflix, it’s a lot easier to plan a schedule when you get everyone’s schedules, put them all together, and look at what aligns and what doesn’t, to make it easier for everyone.

For example, it made sense that despite certain cast members being unavailable in May to film, there were rumors (multiple statements from Noah himself) that he would start filming in May. And that’s likely because he started school again in the fall, and so it makes sense they looked at his schedule and determined it would be best to squeeze in as much filming for him as possible from May-August before school started in the fall, with him having a good chunk of time throughout the school year to go back to school for tests, etc..

Another example is David Harbour, who said he was going to be filming Thunderbolts in Atlanta simultaneously while he was filming ST5 in Atlanta. This means he would likely have at least 1-2 weeks of filming for ST and then 1-2 weeks of filming Thunderbolts, with days off and on within the mix, in order to accommodate both films schedules and when they need him for certain scenes.

I think a lot of fans assume that 1 year of filming means nonstop filming for each cast member, which is just not the case.

Even if certain actors have a lot of scenes in each episode, there are still scenes without them.

For example, let’s say Millie has 8 scenes total in 5x01 or something. There are still going to be several scenes without her, upwards of over 10 scenes give or take. That's scenes with other characters filming without Millie present because she does not have to be because she is not in any of the shots. Millie does not need to be strictly in Atlanta for those 1-2 weeks that it takes to film the block of scenes that do not include her. If they can make it so actors are able to be gone for 1-2 weeks of time, as opposed to just filming 1-2 scenes and then having to wait 2-3 days for their next scene, they’ll try to. Not saying that won’t happen occasionally, as I'm sure there are times when it's maybe a week on and week off or three weeks on and one off, but still, doing it in larger blocks to make it easier and accommodate everyone, is much more realistic because it just makes it a lot smoother to flesh out the schedule like that with their main (high demand) cast, and then fit side characters (not as high demand aka more wide open availability) around that.

For example, Amybeth only had like 4ish scenes total throughout the entirety of s4, and she lives out of the country, so it wouldn’t make sense to have her stay in Atlanta for upwards of a year. Instead Amybeth was only in Atlanta filming for two weeks total for those scenes featuring her, from mid May-early June 2021. That meant they had to ensure Maya (and Joe lmao) were available during that time Amybeth would be on set bc they had scenes together. Fun fact, if you pay close attention to the shots with Vickie during the pep rally, it's clear that it was filmed on a different day than the rest of the scenes, bc in the wide shots we don't even see the band on the bleachers (TV magic!). This means that only that corner with the band was filled up and the rest of the bleachers were empty when they shot that scene with Amybeth and Maya. No one else needed to be there since it wasn't necessary.

Usually, filming for 1 episode takes about a month. But it’s likely much of ST5’s episodes will be a little over 60 minutes as opposed to like 50 minutes. So giving them about 1-1.5 months to film each episode, 8 total (unless that changes), puts them at approximately 12 months aka a year. While some episodes might take only a month (or maybe even less) to film, the finale is going to be over 2 hours, which means filming for the finale will take closer to 2 months potentially.

This means 12 months is a very good estimate for how long it could take to film ST5 overall. Though to be fair, given the circumstances of them being on hiatus for so long and maybe being more prepared, maybe it’ll take a little bit less than that? But I honesty don’t think it will be by much, as most years they end up underestimating and it takes a little bit longer than anticipated bc of impromptu delays. (This is also assuming the strike ends and filming starts in Oct, only a couple months from now, which isn't guaranteed whatsoever either).

Even if the strike ends and filming is in full swing and they have a plan to finish in 12 months, there’s no way of knowing for certain if something else could impact filming and cause it to take longer. We should know by now with COVID and the strike that nothing is guaranteed until it’s all filmed. Once it’s all filmed, THEN we can actually start theorizing about when it will premiere.

ST5 premiered about 8 months after filming, not only because post-production is time consuming in and of itself, but because they wanted to have it come out in summer as opposed to Spring. Maybe the first few episodes were ready way earlier, but the later ones weren't even close, so holding off for a more suitable release period, Summer, which they prefer for ST releases anyways, makes sense.

A best case scenario rn, that I allow myself to hope for still, despite everything (assuming the studios get their heads out of their asses asap), is ST5 starting filming in October this year and finishing in October 2024. This puts them at a similar roll out period to ST4, with about 8 months of post-production and a premiere in the summer sometime in 2025 between May-August, whether that include two volumes or not. Netflix is a lot more likely to push for a summer release, regardless of them starting/ending filming sooner than October. Hell, even if they finished editing those first 5 eps by like March or something, Netflix would much rather stretch and wait to release those in early summer with the rest in mid/late summer again, bc they’ve never done Spring releases and I don’t think they’re going to start now. Especially bc I think it will be pushing it in terms of the working conditions being way too strenuous for VFX/editors. I'd rather have them push for a summer release and take their time and make it as good as they can, then to rush and make a spring release and have it feel half ass, only to be over forever.

I know people get sad knowing how long it's going to take to come out. But I just can't comprehend wanting it to be out ASAP, and most likely poorly, only to be over forever. Like this is the end for real. Maybe you'll see one of the characters pop up in a spin off, at best, but it wont be any of the mains that is for certain.

ST5 in 2024 is 100% not happening, so unless you want s5 to be edited for a mere 2 months at absolutely shit quality, let it go. If you want to hope for Spring 2025 go ahead, but that release period is already unprecedented with/without the strike, so don't hold your breath. I would try to accept ST5 Summer 2025 and hope that is as far as it goes. TBH if the strike goes past October, Netflix is going to have to come up with a deal because they are risking ST not premiering in the Summer like they want. If they don't make a deal by then, they'll presumably be forced to make a deal asap, otherwise they’d just be fucking themselves over.

I’ve finished watching ‘Anne With An E’. I thought it was a really great show in many ways. Especially the writing. Didn’t really care for the Shirbert romance. I felt like they left that one a bit too late. Although I enjoy slow burn… the constant back and forth wasn’t enough to cultivate my passion. Although they’re both amazing people in their own right, I just didn’t feel it because the writing was very rushed for it in the end.

Otherwise… to Moira Walley-Beckett…

this show was absolutely exceptional.

I’m so glad I returned to it to finish it. But I am ever so personally aggrieved for you that it was cancelled.

Hopefully now that Anne knows that she looks like her birth mother, she’ll stop bagging on her red hair and freckles. Her vanity was a huge annoyance to watch. But she was a character that was a breath of fresh air in that she never lost her imagination even as she grew up into a woman. She just ended up refining it to include, at least reachable, goals and ambitions. Her temper tantrums eventually became very meaningful and impactful. She was a character developed well. That’s why I love coming of age stories. It really does make all the difference when evolution is the focus. I wouldn’t say she was morally grey but they definitely made sure to showcase her flaws and faults and the consequences that came from her actions and choices… which is enough really. I didn’t need much else. I’m just glad she wasn’t your typical protagonist. Yes, she was a good person but she didn’t always do good things or make good choices. That mattered. It also mattered how she corrected her mistakes. By developing on her self-awareness and emotional maturity once she realized where she went wrong. It all served to give a real, relatable and resonatable character. A real gem of characterization in any show.

And Thank You to Amybeth McNulty for portraying her ever so well and knowing where her true heart lies. I’m fairly certain your first audition was a crying scene because you certainly did enough of them. But - along with the character writing - you never once made her seem weak in doing so. Expressing emotion was a strength and not a weakness. I really appreciate that.

The Rest Of My Cast Picks for an Actually Good Live Action Adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist

I couldn't really find any big names who are the right age and the right look for Edward, I would ideally imagine him being like, a River Phoenix type but I want someone who's. You know. Alive

So I ended up finding two up and coming young actors who are currently close to Ed's age at the start of the show who gave performances that really impressed me! First one is Cameron Mann, who played Jullianne Nicholson's son in Mare of Easttown, and the second is Jack Nielsen, who played a young Prince William in Spencer!

Walker Scobell might also work once he finishes puberty

I'd love to go back in time and cast season one of stranger things era Noah Schnapp as Alphonse, but for now I think Gregory Mann (voice of GTD!Pinocchio) could be a great choice

I also wish I could go back in time for Winry bc my DREAM choice is Saiorse Ronan from like ten years ago, I also put Sadie Sink and Amybeth McNulty

The minute that I heard that Amybeth was going to be in S4 I freaked out cause 1. I’m Canadian and 2. I enjoyed Anne with an E and thought her Anne was great. I was hoping she would have a bigger role but needless to say I was a little bit disappointed when she didn’t. Her being a photographer would have been fun cause then she and Jonathan could have had conversations about it. Vickie is my fellow clarinet playing bi queen and I’m super sad that they didn’t do more with her.

My hope is that the S4 stncy stuff is a set up for Stevee’s arc next season where he gets over her. If they just put it there for love triangle bullshit I’ll be pissed cause Suffers if you want love triangle drama look no further than Mike! He’s got a pretty bizarre one going on atm.

You’re right it would have been fun to see Nancy and Steven be snarky exes helping out Robin and Vickie. I just hope next season they make Nancy and Stevens dynamic be that cause that’s how I view them in my hinge stoncy polycule where Jonathan’s in the middle.

Secret NYU thing would be heartbreaking. It would really bring home his core fear of the future as I think I and many other 17-18 year olds could relate to wanting to follow their dreams but being scared to go off and do them due to factors ranging from home life to just general anxiety.

S4 to me is the season that had so much potential but just fell short of reaching it. They hit some parts (ex. Vecna reveal, Max in Dear Billy, van scene, Byers bro’s heart to heart, spellbound at the ending) but in other parts they didn’t do very well.

MY HAZBIN HOTEL FANCAST

now, this is mostly a human au for obvious reasons. whether you want it to be an out of hell matter, a simple “imagining them with all the makeup and/or cgi needed” matter, or a them before death matter (when it makes sense, like for example it wouldn’t work in charlie’s case) doesn’t really matter to me. therefore, this is mostly based off vibes rather than true visual attributes most of the time. i also tried my best to get faceclaims who have some sort of singing abilities because hazbin hotel is supposed to be a musical of some sorts, after all.

i purposefully kind of went out of my way to find a young faceclaim, like in her early twenties, because many of the best choices i have seen for charlie otherwise, like evanna lynch or margot robbie, are past their thirties already, and i thought giving a younger option would be better. i was pretty torn on who to choose, however, since i also thought of elle fanning, huening bahiyyih, and grace van dien for the role. they may also work as alternative faceclaims if you are not feeling amybeth! the reason why i chose her over the others is because i could not find any clip of grace van dien singing, elle fanning’s singing voice does not fit charlie much in my opinion, and (as you will see later) i have already chosen a k-pop idol for one of the later castings which may have been redundant if i chose huening bahiyyih, plus from what i know her english is not super fluent. amybeth mcnulty hasn’t sang much, but she has two covers of riptide (here and here) and one of would you be so kind (here), from which i have come to the conclusion her voice could probably fit charlie just fine.

obviously, i looked for latina actresses for this role. i encourage finding a salvadoran faceclaim if you can, but i couldn’t find any that have proper resources around (and who fit the whole “could be in a musical” thing), hence why i settled with a mexican faceclaim instead. i apologize for that. lizeth selene is a singer as well as an actress, and i think she works voice wise honestly (examples here and here). she also speaks both english and italian, as does vaggie.

jamie campbell bower as alastor

i feel alastor’s fancast may be what many people who come across this post are looking for, and i therefore i apologize if it ends up being disappointing. i feel the voice is very important when choosing someone for alastor, as a big part of his charm comes from that. jamie campbell bower has a gorgeous speaking voice, and so i thought why not? he has shown to be capable of performing similar roles before, and i think a more playful twist to them such as alastor’s character could be great. he is also a pretty good singer, considering he has his own music career after all (examples here and here). if that isn’t any good, though, you can maybe relate on the popular fancasts that are bill skarsgård and johnny depp. if you want a poc twist on alastor, though, then allow me to also suggest hwang hyunjin (korean),  yamazaki kento (japanese) or marwan kenzari (tunisian).

troye sivan as angel dust

again, this choice was chosen over another for the sake of not being redundant. another definite choice was holland, who is a singer, an actor, a person of color (korean) and is gay on top of that too, but i didn’t want to put more than one k-pop idol among the main chosen cast, so i went with troye sivan instead. i, as a queer person, do not mind non-queer people portraying queer characters at all, but i thought troye just fit, so the fact he is gay too is just a bonus, to be honest. plus, some are made uncomfortable by non-gay men portraying gay men, so this may help them, too. i actually found out troye has acted in some works before, such as ‘qantas, I still call australia home’ and ‘three months’, so that may help with making him a good choice. that aside, he is a singer, which is what he is most known for, and i think his voice actually kind of fits angel dust. it is very far from his original voice, let me clear up, but i could still see angel sounding like that nonetheless (examples here and here). and honestly? he just looks the part. i will give the credit, though, to @darkhendra​ and specifically this post of theirs for the idea.

jamie doesn’t have any professional acting experience to my knowledge, but she has the looks for the part and the voice, in my opinion. some examples of the latter include her cover of monster by red velvet (watch here) and gangsta by kehlani (watch here), which really fit cherri’s overall vibe in my opinion. overall, i think she’s a good choice, and i like the concept of an east asian cherri anyway, since we do not get enough badass asian rep that isn’t super fetishizing in media, with a few exceptions in recent works.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 - Live Thoughts + Reactions

I wrote all of my thoughts and feelings in a notebook down and copied them here in case anyone is interested in my thoughts and feelings on S4 so far. It’s taken me a while because 1) the season is LONG AS FUCK, 2) I’ve been ill and 3) I’ve been at work, so… anyway, here it is!

SPOILERS BELOW FOR SEASON 4 VOLUME 1 (MEANING EPISODES 1-7)!

Episode 1 - The Hellfire Club

Oh damn, that opening 8-10 minutes though :O They made it look like Eleven straight up slaughtered all the other “numbers” (the kids at the lab) as well as all the orderlies 

My theory at this point: Eleven was possessed by Vecna and he killed the kids/orderlies through her

It showed Will painting and I was like “oh that’s so for Mike” even though it didn’t show what it was exactly

I love Eleven, Will and Jonathan being siblings

Her visual aid for her school project was Hopper and the cabin :’)

It makes sense given that she saw Billy (her stepbrother) die in front of her, but at the very end of ST3 (which was 3 months after his death), she and Lucas were laughing and joking around and teasing Dustin over the Never Ending Story thing, so I guess I’m still kind of surprised

I was trying to figure out why Jason Carver, the basketball captain, seemed familiar... turns out it’s because he was Chris Dollanganger in Flowers in the Attic in 2014... aka the guy who slept with his sister 

My first impression of Jason is that he seems cute but like he’s probably gonna be a douche

So just to make sure I’ve got it right: Henry Creel (Victor’s son) didn’t die, he was the original (001) with natural born powers, he killed his family/did some weird spider-and-Satan worship, the doctors at Hawkins lab said he died but in actuality used him to create copies (002, Eleven etc), he ended up massacring the entire lab/including the children, he thought Eleven was going to join him but she was disgusted so he tried to kill her, but she’s so powerful that she sent him to the Upside Down where he became Vecna???

Overall, I love this season so far! I have a few continuity issues/gripes but other than that, I’m living for it! I love the horror turn this season has taken, it’s definitely a lot darker than the last three series I think. I think I need to see the last two episodes before I pass judgement though!

Thoughts/theories following the ST trailer?

WHERE IS AMYBETH MCNULTY?

You know I'd just assumed that Eleven would be kidnapped by Brenner (who we never saw die so obviously he's still alive) now that she doesn't have her powers, but the new trailer makes me think that she's going to go to him willingly so that she can get them back and in doing so save humanity.

I am honestly surprised that they have given a voice to the Upside Down at last. Not that we didn't know that the mind flayer was a sentient being, but now we're getting humanoids who can apparently speak? I'm impressed. And scared! I also Googled "D&D villain no nose" to research what that Voldemort looking son of a bitch might be and the first answer was a gith. The gith are "a race of humanoids who had been enslaved by mind flayers for countless generations" and their description is pretty similiar to the humanoid in the trailer.

Following on from this point, I'm pretty sure that the version of the Creel House that exists in the Upside Down is where the Big Bad aka the "dungeon master" is based or residing, which would explain why crazy shit's been happening there since like, the sixties.

It feels like Jonathan and Nancy have broken up, no? Why else is Mike flying to California to see Eleven and Will but Nancy isn't flying out to see Jonathan? If so good for her. He's dead weight.

I can't believe Lucas is entering his jock phase. Proud of him.

Max is clearly the main character of the Hawkins storyline and honestly it's about time. Sadie Sink is more than capable of carrying it.

I love that Joyce and Murray are fully flying themselves into Russia like that's the most Joyce thing I've ever heard in my life.

I feel like we haven't seen the last of Billy somehow. I have no evidence for this, just a feeling. Maybe there's some version of him in the Upside Down because he was possessed by the Mind Flayer?

On account of the fact that Steve is in the trailer both a) fighting a winged beast in the Upside Down and b) examining an entryway to said alternate dimension underwater, I remain concerned for the preservation of his face, which has been thoroughly pummelled in every season thus far. And his life, I suppose, but seeing as there's a fifth season planned I can't see him being killed off until at least then (my brother has this "Steve is the natural choice to be killed off in the final season theory that makes incredible amounts of sense that resent deeply)

I love that this Eddie character is playing guitar in the Upside Down. What an absolute legend. Like I guess if you're going to meet your end in an interdimensional hellscape, that's the way to go.

What their child will looks like? (part 3)

So, I enhance some of the photos and I'm not gonna lie, they look way more better than the previous results. The quality of the photo really affects them very much.

Straight to the results:

9/10: Actually this is a bit basic for me, doesn't impressed me that much, BUT I like his eyebrows and eyes and the lips. If their kid born in the same year with Harry, he definitely will be one of their best friends, the one who will figures all out with Hermoine. A 100% Gryffindor.

10/10: I can see the determination from her eyes. I don't know whether you guys have seen a fan made movie on YouTube, call "Mudblood"? This result gives me the vibe of that main Hufflepuff girl. A cinnamon roll that can kill or save you at the same time, just base on her moods, Gryffindor.

8/10: I think this will look way more Percy than being his son. I still consider it as hot, and kinda hit me with some slightly Remus' vibes. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how hot is Oliver in the right corner? He might go to Slytherin or Ravenclaw.

9/10: She looks like someone for me, probably Amybeth Mcnulty's vibe and I don't why, just got the feelings. This Molly II version definitely will be Victoire and Albus' best friend, kinda like the silver trio. A Gryffindor or a Ravenclaw.

That's the end of the day.

I still got some pretty good results, and these are really my reason why Percy and Oliver should be endgame. They literally so perfect for each other.

Who is an actor you would want to see in season 4? Male or female

I'm not that good at predicting new actors I could realistically see joining the cast, but I could answer this with the actors that have been announced for s4 in mind.

I'm looking forward to seeing Robert Eglund who is going to be playing Victor Creel. He played Freddy Krueger in Nightmare on Elm Street and even though I'm not a huge horror movie watcher, I know it's one of the iconic 80s films that has influenced the show. So it will be really interesting to see Eglund playing a character in the show, it's always fun to see famous 80s actors like Sean Astin, Cary Elwes and of course Winona Ryder, appearing on the show. I'm curious about the whole Creel house plotline in general so I'm looking forward to seeing his character this season!

Another actor I'm looking forward to seeing in s4 is Amybeth McNulty! She was really good in Anne with an E (such a nice, feelgood show) so I'm happy to see her in new roles! It seems like her role in season four will not be huge or anything, but it will still be fun seeing her.
