seeing as how you're a very big Niki fan, can you explain / summarize her character and her personality a bit? :D

I did kind of go somewhat into Niki’s character, personality and role in the story a few times before, but I am always happy to ramble on about Niki Nihachu, so will gladly ramble about her again!

For me, Niki is a character that is fire incarnate. She was the heart of L’Manburg, and when she declared that L’Manburg was dead, that was when L’Manburg truly died.

Niki has a warm heart. She’s generous, willing to give out food she baked herself to her friends, willing to give out resources even when she has so few of her own. She’s compassionate and empathetic, she heard all of L’Manburg telling her not to trust Eret, but she was willing to give Eret a chance. She’s got a charm to her that makes most trust her, a warm to her presence that has people wanting to be close to her.

Niki has the patience of a short fuse. She’s impulsive and passionate, which can lead to her not entirely thinking things through. You think Niki has the only brain cell of whatever group she’s in? Wrong! She’s not a moron, but she can do silly and even stupid stuff, simply because she got too excited.

Niki is a wildfire. When told not to do something, she makes it clear that she will still do it if she believes that it’s the right thing, and she doesn’t back down even if pushed. She burns hot and bright and furious when angered. She’s vindictive when crossed, she will not allow anyone to hurt her and get away with it. Beneath the kindness and gentleness, she’s hothead and reckless when angered. Vengeance is a calling she will always answer.

But to me, her main defining character trait is her loyalty. The kindness and generosity she showcased? That was because she was loyal to her friends, and that was a way of proving it. She was willing to fight in so many wars, more than most characters, all because she was loyal to someone in the conflict. She will not allow even the cruelest of punishments to stop her from remaining loyal. Even her vindictiveness and anger is often fueled by feelings of being betrayed and used.

Niki wears her heart on her sleeves, and this can lead to a lot of people thinking that what the see is what they get. They just see a quiet, nice girl. But Niki is more than meets the eye. She is resilient, courageous, determined and strong-willed. And she is an incredibly underappreciated character.

hmmm dickkory for the ship ask game??

Hmm. I guess I’m kinda neutral on it? But I lean more towards shipping it than not (I don’t think I’d write a fic about it but I have sprinkled a little of it in fics before), so I’ll go with the ship it questions.

1. What made you ship it? Teen Titans 2003. They were pretty cute there. I wanted them to hold hands and kiss on the cheek. And also…with all the “Who should Dick date?” debates, I chose Kori over Barbara because I’ve actively disliked their relationship in everything I’ve read. And then I got a little bit attached to the ship I was nominally in favor of.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship? I think how they’re just so casually affectionate with each other. And also…they spend so long working together and discussing their emotions that I can buy them as partners instead of just boyfriend and girlfriend. And I think that Dick is really looking for a partner in his relationships—someone he can deeply love and trust—and Kori fits that really well.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I'm not really sure...hmm. I think. I think that them taking a break after their failed wedding would actually have been a good thing for them, if DC hadn't latched onto Dick dating Barbara. I don't think their relationship was in a good place after everything that had happened in The New Titans (or whatever it was called at that point). And while I absolutely agree that Dick cheating was out of character, it...makes slightly more sense in context, and I think that there was just too much going on there. Also, Dick and Kori were the "designated couple" for too long, Kori was considering leaving Earth, their marriage being rushed and possibly invalid, Mirage, etc. So, yeah. I think that them breaking up (instead of staying on an inevitably sinking ship) could have been done in a healthy manner that allowed them to deal with some of their issues, and eventually they could have come back stronger. I'm definitely willing to be swayed on this though.

Charlie had done his best to dress nice for their date; a dark pair of jeans with no holes at the knees, his hair pulled back, and no stupid t-shirt, even if he knew they could make Vi laugh. No, it was a soft sweater- a deep green to match the color in Vi's clothing. He still felt out of place as they stepped into the restaurant they'd eventually landed on. It was sort of high-end, not because it'd been a preference so much as it guaranteed the four of them a better chance at privacy. And even though it'd been Vi and Alex who'd really made the plans, Charlie wasn't complaining. He was nervous enough about a public date with Vi without any extra attention.

Pausing just through the entrance, Charlie glanced across the room, but it didn't take long at all to find the couple they were supposed to join. Rabbit and Alex were already packed into one side of a booth, Rabbit's height apparent even while seated and Alex..

Charlie furrowed his brows, a surprised grin starting to tug at his lips while he watched. Alex was animated, gesturing at the table like there was some kind of map there that only he could see, totally engrossed in whatever conversation it was that he was having with his partner. Honestly, he didn't look anything at all like Charlie had expected. The first and only brief time they'd met, Alex had been sort of.. scary. He'd glared in Charlie's direction and had only spoken to him in short, clipped tones. He'd come off like he either had better things to do or just too much on his mind, and though he'd eased up once Vi had come around, he hadn't really seemed to relax. He carried himself like he was always ready for a fight.

Across the room, he only seemed to have eyes for the man sitting next to him. They almost seemed to be having some kind of playful argument, both grinning, but trading quick words back and forth. They were pressed so close together that someone else could've fit next to them in the seat, if they really wanted, which was a feat in itself.

"Charlie?" Vi was next to him again, slipping his arm through Charlie's as he followed his gaze over to their table. It was just in time to see Alex shove at Rabbit's chest and earn a laugh in response, bright enough that they could make it out over the general din of the restaurant. Vi laughed beside Charlie and looked over at him, his eyes sparkling as he moved to lead them over to the bar instead of straight to their booth. "The two of them seem good together, don't they?"

"Maybe. I- I guess I don't know 'em well enough to say, but, uh.."

"Hm?" Vi leaned against the bar, looking up at Charlie as he waited to order. Charlie leaned back against the countertop next to him and laughed.

"Your friend, Alex. Right now, he seems.." His face reddened. "Not so.."

"Catty?" Vi tried. "Rude? Bitchy?"

Charlie pushed out a soft laugh, glancing back at the table. "I was gonna say.. calmer, or- or somethin'. But I guess that covers it."

Vi hummed. "He'll come around to you. Probably. But you're right, he's kind of like that no matter what, until he's fawning over a certain rockstar." He nodded towards the table, towards Rabbit, to make his point. "I'll bet he hasn't even noticed us yet." He smiled at Charlie. "I told you the story, didn't I? How he and Jack know one another?"

"Uh, I think? He wrote somethin' about it, too, didn't he?"

"Wrote about part of it." Vi turned around to lean the same way Charlie was, pressed close so their arms were brushing. Looking down, he sought out Charlie's hand and entwined their fingers. Charlie felt himself warm from somewhere right down in the middle of his chest as he watched him. "Met in childhood, lost touch, ran into one another again as adults.. what Alex didn't say," and with this, Vi's smile turned a little mischievous, "Is he was chasing Jack the whole time. Whole reason he went into writing about music. We met because he was sneaking into parties he didn't have invites to." He paused, idly brushing his thumb over Charlie's. "I would've thought he was delusional, if I didn't already know I could be just as bad. But I suppose he wasn't."

Another laugh rang out from the vicinity of their table. When they both followed it to it's source, Alex was pulling Rabbit down for a not-so-subtle kiss. Vi grinned. "Case in point. ..Should we go interrupt?"

Charlie laughed too. He shrugged, grinning right back at him. "Guess it's about time."
