YouTube Downloads through VLC: Step by Step

[EDIT: I've been receiving reports for some time now that this method no longer works. I suspect something about the switch to YouTube Music as a separate app, and/or YouTube's ongoing attempts to force Chrome use, broke the compatibility with the Github version of youtube.luac -- I haven't managed to look into whether there's an updated working version out there yet. Sorry!]

So this guide to easily downloading off YouTube is super helpful, but there's enough important information hidden in the reblogs that (with the permission of OP @queriesntheories ) I'm doing a more step-by-step version.

Please note: these downloads will be in YouTube quality. My test video download is coming through at 360p, even though the video I'm starting from is set to 720p. They're legible, but they won't look great on a TV. For high visual quality, you'll want to seek out other methods.

This guide is written for Windows 10, since that's what I can test on. It's been tested on Firefox, Chrome, and Edge (which is a Chromium browser, so the method should work in other Chromium browsers too). So far, I haven't tracked down a way to use this download method on mobile.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

I'll try to make this pretty beginner-friendly, but I am going to assume that you know how to right-click, double-click, navigate right-click menus, click-and-drag, use keyboard shortcuts that are given to you (for example, how to use Ctrl+A), and get the URL for any YouTube video you want to download.

You'll also need to download and install one or more programs off the internet using .exe files, if you don't have these programs already. Please make sure you know how to use your firewall and antivirus to keep your computer safe, and google any names you don't recognize before allowing permission for each file. You can also hover your mouse over each link in this post to make sure it goes where I'm saying it will go.

YOU WILL NEED:

A computer where you have admin permissions. This is usually a computer you own or have the main login on. Sadly, a shared computer like the ones at universities and libraries will not work for this.

Enough space on your computer to install the programs listed below, if you don't have them already, and some space to save your downloaded files to. The files are pretty small because of the low video quality.

A simple text editing program. Notepad is the one that usually comes with Windows. If it lets you change fonts, it's too fancy. A notepad designed specifically to edit program code without messing it up is Notepad++, which you can download here.

A web browser. I use Firefox, which you can get here. Chrome or other Chrome-based browsers should also work. I haven't tested in Safari.

An Internet connection fast enough to load YouTube. A little buffering is fine. The downloads will happen much faster than streaming the entire video, unless your internet is very slow.

VLC Media Player, which you can get here. It's a free player for music and videos, available on Windows, Android, and iOS, and it can play almost any format of video or audio file that exists. We'll be using it for one of the central steps in this process.

If you want just the audio from a YouTube video, you'll need to download the video and then use a different program to copy the audio into its own file. At the end of this post, I'll have instructions for that, using a free sound editor called Audacity.

SETUP TO DOWNLOAD:

The first time you do this, you'll need to set VLC up so it can do what you want. This is where we need Notepad and admin permissions. You shouldn't need to repeat this process unless you're reinstalling VLC.

If VLC is open, close it.

In your computer's file system (File Explorer on Windows), go to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\playlist

If you're not familiar with File Explorer, you'll start by clicking where the left side shows (C:). Then in the big main window, you'll double-click each folder that you see in the file path, in order - so in this case, when you're in C: you need to look for Program Files. (There will be two of them. You want the one without the x86 at the end.) Then inside Program Files you're looking for VideoLAN, and so forth through the whole path.

Once you're inside the "playlist" folder, you'll see a lot of files ending in .luac - they're in alphabetical order. The one you want to edit is youtube.luac which is probably at the bottom.

You can't edit youtube.luac while it's in this folder. Click and drag it out of the playlist folder to somewhere else you can find it - your desktop, for instance. Your computer will ask for admin permission to move the file. Click the "Continue" button with the blue and yellow shield.

Now that the file is moved, double-click on it. The Microsoft Store will want you to search for a program to open the .luac file type with. Don't go to the Microsoft Store, just click on the blue "More apps" below that option, and you'll get a list that should include your notepad program. Click on it and click OK.

The file that opens up will be absolutely full of gibberish-looking code. That's fine. Use Ctrl+A to select everything inside the file, then Backspace or Delete to delete it. Don't close the file yet.

In your web browser, go to https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua

Click in the part of the Github page that has a bunch of mostly blue code in it. Use Ctrl+A to select all of that code, Ctrl+C to copy it, then come back into your empty youtube.luac file and use Ctrl+P to paste the whole chunk of code into the file.

Save the youtube.luac file (Ctrl+S or File > Save in the upper left corner of the notepad program), then close the notepad program.

Drag youtube.luac back into the folder it came from. The computer will ask for admin permission again. Give it permission.

Now you can close Github and Notepad. You're ready to start downloading!

HOW TO DOWNLOAD:

First, get your YouTube link. It should look something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abc123DEF45 If it's longer, you can delete any extra stuff after that first set of letters and numbers, but you don't have to.

Now open VLC. Go to Media > Open Network Stream and paste your YouTube link into the box that comes up. Click Play. Wait until the video starts to play, then you can pause it if you want so it's not distracting you during the next part.

(If nothing happens, you probably forgot to put youtube.luac back. coughs)

In VLC, go to Tools > Codec Information. At the bottom of the pop-up box you'll see a long string of gibberish in a box labeled Location. Click in the Location box. It won't look like it clicked properly, but when you press Ctrl+A, it should select all. Use Ctrl+C to copy it.

In your web browser, paste the entire string of gibberish and hit Enter. Your same YouTube video should come up, but without any of the YouTube interface around it. This is where the video actually lives on YouTube's servers. YouTube really, really doesn't like to show this address to humans, which is why we needed VLC to be like "hi I'm just a little video player" and get it for us.

Because, if you're looking at the place where the video actually lives, you can just right-click-download it, and YouTube can't stop you.

Right-click on your video. Choose "Save Video As". Choose where to save it to - I use my computer's built-in Music or Videos folders.

Give it a name other than "videoplayback" so you can tell it apart from your other downloads.

The "Save As Type" dropdown under the Name field will probably default to MP4. This is a good versatile video format that most video players can read. If you need a different format, you can convert the download later. (That's a whole other post topic.)

Click Save, and your video will start downloading! It may take a few minutes to fully download, depending on your video length and internet speed. Once the download finishes, congratulations! You have successfully downloaded a YouTube video!

If you'd like to convert your video into a (usually smaller) audio file, so you can put it on a music player, it's time to install and set up Audacity.

INSTALLING AUDACITY (first time setup for audio file conversion):

You can get Audacity here. If you're following along on Windows 10, choose the "64-bit installer (recommended)". Run the installer, but don't open Audacity at the end, or if it does open, close it again.

On that same Audacity download page, scroll down past the installers to the "Additional resources". You'll see a box with a "Link to FFmpeg library". This is where you'll get the add-on program that will let Audacity open your downloaded YouTube video, so you can tell it to make an audio-only file. The link will take you to this page on the Audacity support wiki, which will always have the most up-to-date information on how to install the file you need here.

From that wiki page, follow the link to the actual FFmpeg library. If you're not using an adblocker, be careful not to click on any of the ads showing you download buttons. The link you want is bold blue text under "FFmpeg Installer for Audacity 3.2 and later", and looks something like this: "FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86.exe". Download and install it. Without this, Audacity won't be able to open MP4 files downloaded from YouTube.

CONVERTING TO AUDIO:

Make sure you know where to find your downloaded MP4 video file. This file won't go away when you "convert" it - you'll just be copying the audio into a different file.

Open up Audacity.

Go to File > Open and choose your video file.

You'll get one of those soundwave file displays you see in recording booths and so forth. Audacity is a good solid choice if you want to teach yourself to edit soundwave files, but that's not what we're here for right now.

Go to File > Export Audio. The File Name will populate to match the video's filename, but you can edit it if you want.

Click the Browse button next to the Folder box, and choose where to save your new audio file to. I use my computer's Music folder.

You can click on the Format dropdown and choose an audio file type. If you're not sure which one you want, MP3 is the most common and versatile.

If you'd like your music player to know the artist, album, and so forth for your audio track, you can edit that later in File Manager, or you can put the information in with the Edit Metadata button here. You can leave any of the slots blank, for instance if you don't have a track number because it's a YouTube video.

Once everything is set up, click Export, and your new audio file will be created. Go forth and listen!

leona who funnily enough was bought not to be a miracle as what people originally intended him to be, but a kindergarten teacher.

who would've thought such high maintenance android would end up getting his hands wiping some kid's piss and puke off the floor, his rumoured high intelligence are nought but just for teaching mere children's knowledge. not like he can do anything, his owner need his help. it's in the contract. letting these tiny creatures pestering him, their tiny hands all over him or his tail or his ears. or having them fight to sit on his uncomfortably hard thighs when it's lunch time.

but recently, he began to experience an unexplainable series of lagging in his speech pattern. his eyes begin to blur at times. simple tasks beginning to feel like a burden as his head would dangerously overheat, even the kids could see the strain he's baring from how much he's scrunching his brows.

the sound, he'd say, the sound. it's annoying.

a sound of something stirring. everytime he heard the sound, his eye would hurt so bad as if it's scratching to come out of his eye socket. his students would just childishly claim it was a migraine, telling him he should rest more. "I could not have migraine you stupid cubs", is what he'd say if not because of the strict filter for his speech.

popup notifications begin to emerge, warning him of a foreign third party running his system. multiple non permitable access to his memory drive, he just now noticed that there are viruses corrupting his system. how could this be possible? he never turned his antivirus software off. is there a malpractice happening without him knowing?

and it doesn't take long for him to figure out the problem.

his eyes are the problem.

the images, the videos, continuously sent to a certain someone he could not mention as that will breach the TOS. even thinking this is already straining his thought process to the point of overheating.

his eyes are the reason.

and with that same eyes, he continues to stare at the messy mess. nonchalantly showing off his bloodied hand with bits of what could be assumed as remnants of skin and flesh to the watching eyes behind the screen. it is a bit dark, but they are not stupid.

especially not after the screen went temporarily blocked before it shows the face of a certain android, specks of blood can be seen on his face.

don't you think delivery guys got away quite easily?

you can be one of those annoying old men who think the whole world is their enemy and will not hesitate to shoot you for wanting to get your ball that accidentally got into his lawn, but will let his gate open for limited access to his front door if you're his delivery guy. well, as long as they keep their bloodthirsty dogs on leash at least. humans are not to be trusted.

maybe it's not the greatest job, but it's one that he enjoys doing. the rush to get everything on time, the competition to stay on top, the joy that comes with being able to see new places and faces. ruggie enjoys it all. can machines even feel joy? he may have no answer to that, but it is something akin to that, if he could describe it.

or at least, that's what the old lady told him. truly, how could she describe human emotion on him, a robot? do humans really have to push their human perspective on everything? that's why they keep getting themselves in stupid situation for being too emotionally attached to objects. but then that's why those heartslabyul ai software is all the hit right now.

because they are lonely.

the old lady is kind. really! she always greet him whenever he came to the area for deliveries. asking him about his day, about the weather, if he's working too hard. such young man shouldn't get his skin burned by the sun! she'd say. grandma, don't you think your concern is misplaced? worry about yourself first, instead of this young roaring machine. I'm still full of energy, and carefully oiled. my gears won't rust away anytime soon, and I'm not getting busted that easily. not while there's still people who need his service.

like this shaky hand that's reaching out of the crack of the door.

the wide, soulless eye staring at him, pleading for that magical key to the world of happiness. to see such unhappiness, and him having the power to change it, oh how thrilling! he couldn't control the grin from widening!

he loves this job, it helps more people to be happy.

for a guard dog, jack model is certainly quite a character. not in a bad way, it's just funny to see this over 190cm android tensing up for his monthly checkups. even while sitting down, he still manage to tower over the mechanic's smaller figure. his ears flatten whenever their hands reaching the inside of him for any loose bolts, quietly whimpering to himself whenever they bumped his circuits with their fragile fingers while checking him up. his sensory should've been turned off, so it's certainly not "pain" he's experiencing.

it's difficult for him too. human, can't you see? the way you're talking to him, the way you're handling him, how you'd rub circles around his knuckles whenever he'd had a nasty fight with aggressors, or when you'd aggressively scratch his head and ears after every patch ups with them, cooing him with "good boy"s and "good job"s. all while smelling like oil and chemical, the clinking sound of equipments softly echoing in the workshop, his ears catching up lowly moans of other androids under their care, the buzzing noise of fading life all around the two of them.

how romantic, hell he could imagine himself getting a kiss too from how much his brain is replaying all the romantic scenarios on tv dramas he'd play BEFORE coming here. oh please do, just a peck on my head is all I want. touch my cheeks and pull them lightly, what I'd do just to feel you gracing me with your marks on me. those damned lines play by itself on his mind as he's staring directly at their face. taking notes of how their face scrunched when he's not staying still to their liking, or at how their shadowed figure igniting a certain scene that got his eyes drooping. his tail lightly drumming the chair he's sitting on, the artificial fur sweeping their pants tenderly.

Fun Cyberpunk ISAT Au idea!

So, The King is a Cyborg Corporate Head, who took over and bought out the House of Change. Their 'curse' is a virus that puts people comatose through their Cybernetic implants, which he only started unleashing after he took over.

Every device and robot created by his corporation starts being controlled by a malevolent AI, that constantly cry loudly and attack wildly. They've been referred to as 'Sadnesses'.

The 'Change belief' is in fact Change inc., a cyberware corporation that was trying to be ethical and help people out, using corprate leverage to try and change Vaugarde for the better. Then the king took over, and ripped it to the ground.

Mirabelle: Mira joined the company because she genuinely believed in it's goals. She was snuck out by the old head with a cutting edge antivirus software before the place went down. Though, she has barely any Cyberware herself, which combined makes her nearly immune to the curse. She wants to stop the king and save people!

Isabeau: A street samurai who used to work for Change inc. for a time. When Mirabelle came to Jouvente, trying to get help, mot turned her down for being a Corpo, and tied to a company that had stopped being reputable. Isa however, noticed how genuine she was, and joined up.

Odile: She used to work in Ka bue, as a factory worker. When she started a riot, things went wrong. Her father sacrificed himself, begging her to live, as he helped her flee to Vaugarde. She changed her name to something Vaugardian, reclaiming something from her mother, and then spent her days seeing how far she can break the law without being caught. When the kings curse just started going out, she decided to help as someone with a little experience.

Bonnie: Bonnies sister had to use a lot of cybernetics to keep up, and make enough for the both of them. Some of which were made by Change inc. AFTER the king took over. When the king unleashed the curse, Nille was hit by both the curse, and the Sadness code., robotic enough to count for it. She managed to hold back her own body just long enough to help Bonnie flee. Bonnie uses the knowledge they gained taking care of Nille to help cook, maintain cybernetics, and fix up some body code.

Siffrin: A hacker and rouge. They pilot a proxy android body, not really meeting the party IRL at all. But their skills are unmatched, and happily joined the party.

But when Dormont happened, they went to a quiet spot, and thought to themselves 'You want to stay with them'. And then the timeloop happened.

As it continued on, they realized some oddities. They don't remember where they're from. Sometimes they can hear the king's thoughts when facing him. They... can't see where they really are...

Loop: A hologram that pesters both Siffrin and the party, only directly revealing them to Siffrin. They know the entire House. All events within the timeframe. Perfectly encoded into their circuitry. To the point where several of their loops were actually fully simulated. But now, now they can just manipulate things from the sidelines! They can find a way forwards. To fulfill the Main Directive.

King: They remember fragments. Fragments of a perfect island. They took over this human body, tricking it's old host into implants that would let them control them. And now. Now, even if they must trample the will of the people, they will remake that perfect world. That is their Main Directive.

'The Island' was once a collective AI simulation, based on a location that had been long gone. But a corporation, concerned with it's power, dismantled it with a virus. It resisted, but it's various components fragmented into various mostly disconnected pieces. Siffrin and the King are two of them.

The King is designed to run activities to fulfill objectives. Their current objective is to remake the island. They are using their curse to copy and upload minds into stored copies of people, to be placed into the new system once the framework is set and Reality is no longer necessary for them.

Siffrin is designed to simulate possibilities. But with how much resources the king has obtained for the 'island' they can take that ability to a new level and literally warp reality, in a way that matches their function. Literally exploring new possibilities by turning back time. And the end goal? Was set at that tree. When they told themselves what they wanted.

Extra details:

'Ghosts' are Siffrin's psyche bleeding into stuff they hack, and reacting to their subconscious thoughts. As well as the physical version of Errors in the time manipulation software.

In act 5, Siffrin just straight up starts to override the king and sadnesses. By the time he reaches the king, it's more out of habit. The sadnesses are gone, the king can barely act. But he does manage to force back Siffrin's psyche from himself in the end by using the curse code on him.

There's likely more to this AU, but this is what we have so far.

Resident Evil (4 remake) x Detroit: Become Human AU

I made these arts MONTHS ago and never shared them. There's more I wanna draw for this crossover au but this is what I've got now. I of course came up with elaborate backstories behind everything.

Some AU lore if you're interested:

-on top of what Ashley's stuff says, she was long in development to become the perfect aging child android - something that's never been done before. She is considered an android bioweapon, as they combined robotics with bioengineering, taking DNA from President Graham (his first name is President actually) and infusing it with advanced technology to create Ashley. She is also the most expensive android, for obvious reasons, and was first commissioned by not-then-president President Graham back in 1995. Sherry was meant to be the first successful model, but her development was expedited and hidden by the Doctors Birkin to be their own daughter. Ashley's production was completed in 2000.

-Leon is an LN-200 android. The LN line was created to be an elite operative model of android, meant to integrate with police Android models. However, the entire LN line was discontinued as soon as Leon was released, due to the simultaneous takeover of CyberUmbrella labs by a mass group of mindless androids that killed on sight, and Leon's almost immediate deviation as a result of witnessing this tech-virus outbreak.

-Leon deviated after witnessing the outbreak on his first day - a malicious software virus was transferred to an Android from a CyberUmbrella lab in Raccoon City; that Android transferred it to others, and it kept going, spreading when androids interfaced. The virus shut down all of the androids' programmed objectives and replaced them with the simple objective: "Kill". Androids infected with this virus can only be cured by a very complex antivirus program that is only accessible from certain CyberUmbrella scientists.

-Leon deviated to escape this virus, and met a CR800 android named Claire, who was looking for her brother, another CR800 android called Chris. The two also met the RE200 android, Sherry, who they had to save from an alternate version of the virus that targeted her advanced software specifically. Claire managed to cure her, while Leon ran into a woman who called herself Ada.

-Ada told Leon she was a human, for her safety, as he was a cop android basically, but she's actually an android - specifically an AW900, illegally developed by Albert Wesker, and the only one of her kind. He named her model after his own initials, and calls her simply "AW900", but Ada took the initials and made it her own name - Ada Wong - out of defiance. She was given more freedoms as an android, as wesker had her do all of his dirty work, but she still wasn't deviant. But then she met Leon, and saw how he was deviant, and was surprised by his emotion and how much she wanted it too. She deviated eventually, but when Leon found out she'd lied about being a human, he was angry with her. Her job was to extract the modified virus that had been given to Sherry, so wesker could make Ada immune. Leon didn't want to let Ada take it, but before he can retrieve it, Ada is shot by Dr. Annette Birkin, who wants to get back at Wesker (you can pick any reason why that is. Maybe it's scientist jealousy. Maybe wesker ratted her out for her work on the RE200. Or maybe wesker stole her husband so she's mad which I think would be super funny. Love you Annette). Ada falls, and Leon thinks she's dead, but she escapes - now fully deviant, scared, and lost. She returns to wesker but pretends she isn't deviant, terrified of what he'd do to her if he found out.

-Dr. Luis Serra Navarro was hired by CyberUmbrella to help develop advanced software for androids. However, he realised eventually that the software he was being made to develop was not for new androids, but was in fact being turned into malware meant to attack androids. He knew CyberUmbrella only wanted to do bad things with this, and he attempted to flee with proof, but he was too late, and the virus was released before he could get the word out. Luis went into hiding, knowing that he wouldn't be pardoned for his work, and returned home to Valdelobos, Spain.

-Luis had hoped to help introduce android technology to his home, but he returned to find it taken over by a cult, which he was quickly swept up into under threat of death. He continued developing android software, this time for Saddler, who called it "La Plaga". La Plaga was Saddler's attempt to combine Android software with human genetics, creating half human half Android armies that he could control and program to his will. This was dangerous, bevause he was adding android tech to real people, reverting them to a robot form - the cult called themselves "Los Iluminados", bevause they believed their work to combine humans and androids was enlightened and would bring them closer to God.

-Luis didn't know the extent of Saddler's plan, but he knew Saddler wanted to use the virus to program all androids for control and chaos, death and destruction, so Luis also developed a failsafe - Code "Amber", an antivirus that would immediately render the Plaga virus dormant and (hopefully) reverse its effects. However, Saddler caught onto this and discovered that while the code amber could undo the plaga, it could also magnify it if modified slightly.

-RE400 Ashley was kidnapped in 2004 by Los Iluminados, as once Saddler learned of the first bioengineered android, he wanted to study her code and see how he could morph it with a human. Ashley was supposed to be unable to deviate, but the trauma of being kidnapped caused her to deviate out of self defence.

-After the events of Raccoon City, a now deviated Leon offered to care for Sherry while Claire continued to look for her brother. However, Leon was discovered, as they'd been tracking Sherry, and the government took her away for testing. They threatened to kill her, unless Leon agreed to be reset and reinstated as a special government agent model. Leon agreed to protect Sherry, he was reset, and lost his deviancy. However, he also lost all memories of Sherry, Claire, and Ada, and anyone else he'd met after deviating.

-years later, when President Graham's android daughter is kidnapped, Leon is sent to save her. They tracked her all the way to Spain, but when she deviated, they lost her location. Luckily, they think they lost her location because the cult removed her tracker, or temporarily deactivated her.

-Leon, a machine again, travels to Spain to rescue Ashley. When he arrives, he runs into Dr. Serra, who recognises Leon's model, though he never actually worked on Leon's model. Luis introduces himself, not expecting Leon to know, but Leon runs a scan and discovers that Luis used to work for CyberUmbrella, and is angry with Luis. But Luis proves to be resourceful and charismatic in just the right ways that has Leon trusting him against his will, and eventually even enjoying Luis's company, though he'd never admit it.

-When Leon reaches Ashley, she is at first abrasive, and scared of him. He realises it's because she's deviated. His programming insists he reports her deviation; but seeing her so scared, her face and blonde hair triggering something familial in his memories that he couldn't place, Leon lies to Hunnigan, his handler, and reports Ashley as still a machine. As a result, Leon is able to deviate again - and all at once, all of his memories come rushing back, and he's overwhelmed with emotion. He realises Ashley reminded Leon of Sherry, and he's more passionate about protecting her and bringing her home safe than before, determined to keep Ashley out of the government's control the way he failed to do for Sherry.

-Ada returns, and Leon remembers her now, so he recognises her. He doesn't know what she's doing in Spain, and she doesn't reveal it - but she does look out for him, and Ashley (and Luis), mostly without Leon's knowledge. Ada is able to do many things even the most highly trained covert operative couldn't do.

-Ashley was infected with the plaga, without her knowing, and then Leon was as well when he got captured by Mendéz. Luis still knows how to undo it, so he promises to help them.

-Ada is retrieving the Amber code for the same reason wesker had to her get the antivirus back in Raccoon City - to make herself and any other models wesker works on immune to outside viruses or tampering. However, wesker also plans to use the plaga and the amber to develop his own version of virus - Ada suspects this, but she isn't really in a position to question or go against wesker. However, after meeting and spending time with Luis, Luis shows faith in her, and she gains the courage to separate from wesker.

-Luis is fascinated by Leon (and Ashley, because she's cool, but mostly Leon). He flirts relentlessly, especially when he figures out Leon deviated. Leon tries to pretend it doesn't effect him, but Luis knows what his LED spinning red and yellow means, especially when Leon's is otherwise a constant blue.

-Krauser was a regulated government model of android - an MK model, specifically MK300. His model is not as advanced as Leon's, with Leon being one of a kind, but Krauser had plaga and amber induced advancements that made him stronger than any other model. Krauser hates Luis, because when Luis developed the Code Amber as a failsafe, he caused Krauser's plaga-advancements to malfunction, permanently damaging his vision in his left eye, and making Krauser's transformations spontaneous and uncontrollable. So, when Krauser finds out that Luis is helping Leon - Krauser's old subordinate - Krauser goes for revenge.

-Krauser wants to kill them both, but Luis shields Leon, getting himself stabbed. Leon fights Krauser, Luis shoots him to scare him off, and Leon rushes to Luis, scared as hell to lose him and also angry because Luis can't be replaced but Leon can. However, Luis had been previously given the plaga (and cured himself) so he was able to use some of it to his advantage and stabilise himself until Leon could get him medical help. So, Luis survives :)

-When Ada finds out that Leon and Ashley are both deviant, she tells Leon she's also deviant, but still refuses to tell him anything else. She's hot and he doesn't need to know.

-Leon and Luis grow closer, and by the time they escape the village with Ashley - now cured, thanks to Luis - Leon isn't ready to say goodbye. Luis says he can't go with them, because the us government will never let him back. Leon also knows if Ashley goes back, she could be reset, or deactivated, and Ashley likewise knows this and doesn't want to return. Leon has grown to trust Hunnigan too, and tells her their predicament. She agrees to cover for them for a while so they can escape. So, Leon, Luis, and Ashley disappear.

-Leon will return later - heavily disguised - to see Claire, and Sherry again.

-Leon and Luis obviously fall in love and stay together. Ashley doesn't live with them, but she visits often, and they have their own little family.

-Ada still watches over them from afar, too scared to get emotionally involved. But her friendship with Luis was close enough that she does eventually contact him, and he encourages her to visit them. Ada and Leon still have a weird tense rivalry that Luis doesn't understand, but they all care about each other.

All that mattered was using her knowledge of machines to pacify or reset Tartar.

The code for Tartar was rigid and had a habit of refusing to change during the entire time ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ was working on them. Hm…it seemed Tartar was aware that someone was trying to change them. The lights in the house popped and Tartar’s body went dead still. ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ carefully approached the android…

Just as the cable to the android exploded, giving ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ one final scare and causing her to cover her ears and flinching back..

The android was completely still, not moving even a gear. Not even when ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ spun their handle and stepped back.

“...Tartar?” ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ asked softly and reached her hand out to the android.

The android sputtered and opened its eyes slightly. “...System check. Antivirus on, stabilizers active,” An engine clouded with heat came from the androids back, expelling steam before it tucked back into its back, “Engine on. Sensors…?” The android’s eyes glowed blue and carefully scanned over ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️’s body.

Admittedly, it sent quite the severe shudder down ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️’s back. The android brought his hands back and straightened up as if scared that he had hurt her somehow.

“...What is your name?” The android slowly stood up, staring down at ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️.

“I’m…I’m Marina,” Marina wasn’t super sure about telling the android her name but..this could be a test to see if Tartar had really been reset. The android leaned forward and stared at Marina too closely for comfort. For a moment, Marina could’ve swore she saw anger twist in their eyes.

“...Do I have a name, too…?” It asked suddenly, leaning back with curiosity shining in its eyes.

“...” Marina wasn’t completely sure how to respond to that. She wasn’t the best with names… “Uh…we’ll just call you Operator for now,” Marina nodded.

“Operator…” Operator brought a hand up to his face and felt one of the stickers on his cheek, “Hm..I suppose it’s quite the nice name,” A smile came to Operator’s face as he slowly pushed himself up and off the table.

Then after, they looked around the room, flying into a very sudden panic when they saw how dirty Marina’s workhouse was.

“AH! It’s like you’ve never touched a broom before!” Operator ran to try to find a broom or cleaning supplies of some kind. Marina grabbed Operator’s hand to try to stop him but he only paused to easily shake her off, albeit carefully. He then went back to look for cleaning supplies. The subsequent crashing that erupted in the room caused Marina to start worrying and trying to keep Operator from making too much noise.

It was all in vain of course as her half-asleep girlfriend opened the door as wide as it would go. She looked ungodly tired. Not something you would typically see from Pearl.

“Marina..! What’s going on here? Your other machines didn’t…” Pearl trailed off, seeing Operator (still dressed in their conductor’s outfit and looking exactly like Tartar did) frozen in their tracks with a broom in their metal hands and Marina stood nearby, staring at Pearl. Pearl seemed to wake up rather quickly after that and pulled out one of her dualies and aimed in between Operator’s eyes. Operator tilted their head and waved their hand near the shot, seeing the laser go from their head to their hand when they did, “Oooo…” Pearl’s expression became more worried as she readied to fire.

“Marina, why is the weird shuckass telephone that we definitely destroyed with 8 with the help of my killer wail is still alive…” Pearl didn’t hide the harsh feelings she had towards the android and her hate seeped clearly into her words. Operator didn’t even seem to notice, just tilting his head.

“Uh–..” Marina went to explain before Operator suddenly piped up, “Oh! I jumped ship. I knew I wasn’t going to survive! I…” Operator trailed off, gaining a concerned look on their face, “…that’s not right…” Operator brought a hand to their chin and turned away from Pearl to try to think. “Where did I get that knowledge…?” They stared in space for a moment with a concerned expression.

Operator looked up from the ground. The very second Operator focused back on the room, it flew back into a panic and repeated what it said before as it sped to clean up the workhouse. Pearl nearly shot Operator before Marina made her lower her splat gun. “Stop!” She said sternly and even gave Pearl a hug to make sure her words stuck. Operator stopped for a second before continuing to clean.

Pearl froze before expressing her concern to Marina, asking, no, demanding to know what Tartar was doing there.

“I-...I heard him wandering the streets, Pearlie. I figured he was dead too and thought I was hallucinating him. I’m just as stunned as you are…” Marina explained, “Regardless, I managed to get him knocked out and drug back here. …I gave him a full reset to his personality. Tartar no longer exists. This is Operator,” Marina held Pearl’s shoulders, turning towards Operator and gesturing towards the speeding animatronic.

Operator was still zipping around the room. It was a little stunning to see how fast he was cleaning. He didn’t stay still for even a second.

Within minutes, the entire room was spotless like it had just gotten a deep clean. Operator huffed and wiped their forehead as they leaned against their mop slightly, “Ah, phew..sorry, I hate dirty places!” Operator exclaimed and put the mop away, “Don’t know exactly why but it’s terrible! Always terrible,” Operator put emphasis on ‘Always’. “Now, who wants a smoothie?” Operator spun towards the two with their arms outstretched.

Pearl caught her breath and stared at Operator’s dumb smile. After a moment, she asked, still with a hint of ice in her voice, “...Do you even remember what you tried to do to the entirety of Inkopolis?”

Operator only blepped its strange tongue out of its mouth slightly. It brought a hand to its chin, “Uh…uhm….” Operator hummed and thought. It started messing with its lever, lightly spinning it. The lever always stopped facing up instead of down.

“Nooo? I don’t think I tried anything, no,” Operator tapped their hands together before suddenly continuing, cutting off Marina before she could speak, “Depends though! I also could’ve forgotten! What do you think I tried to do?” Operator asked, leaning closer to Pearl. Pearl stepped back, not hiding her fear whatsoever which confused Operator and worried them at the same time.

“Uh…nothing. Do you know anything about Commander Tartar?” Pearl now asked.

“Oh!” Operator perked up and clapped its hands excitedly, “Oh! I kn-know a few things! He’s not my favorite subject but I suppose I can say a few things about it! They-! Uh…he…” Operator trailed off again, a look of worry coming to its face. “Oh…I..can’t remember. I…suppose I don’t know actually…” Operator’s head went down and its entire top half went mostly limp. It seemed sad that it couldn’t answer Pearl’s question. Marina almost felt bad for Operator but, then again, maybe it not knowing anything about Tartar was beneficial, no way to remember its plans.

After a few moments of stillness, Operator perked back up, folding his hands, “How’s about we talk about something else? Maybe you guys could teach me about the sea life outside? I’ve always wanted to know!!” Operator bounced on his heels slightly, “Sea creatures are awesome!”

Pearl finally relaxed a little. If that didn’t prove that Operator was not Tartar then nothing would. Marina looked at Pearl’s unreadable expression before giving Operator a hand signal to mean ‘One moment’. Marina took Pearl out of the room.

“So- we can’t just let Operator out of the house, can we?” Pearl started suddenly, “There is no way anyone in Inkopolis is going to take this news well! People will definitely claim that we were pretending to have killed him so that- like- we could be praised as heroes. Pinn especially won’t take it well! In case you forgot, Tartar,” Pearl pointed at the closed door, “Nearly smoothied them and Cuttlefish!” Pearl exclaimed.

Marina looked back at the door, hearing Operator hum patiently inside the room. Who knew if he was listening to all of this, “...You’d be right about that but..perhaps if we’re careful about it, he can be accepted in this world. That’s what caused Tartar to go insane, wasn’t it? Isolation and a hatred for our kind? …If we teach Operator better, Tartar shouldn’t come back and Operator could even teach people about humans.”

“If they even remember those guys.”

“Correct,” Marina responded before slowly opening the door and seeing Operator, ready as ever to talk.

“Hi~!!” Operator excitedly waved.

“Hi. Uhm, Operator,” Marina trailed off before taking a breath, “Do you know about humans?”

Operator let out a huge, loud gasp and couldn’t stop itself from bouncing up and down, its crank spinning, “DO I!?” Operator suddenly shook Marina, causing Pearl to hit its hand off of her shoulder. Operator didn’t seem to care though as Operator began to sputter and gasp out its words, “Humans– well! They lived a good few YEARS a- a- ago! And- And- And!” Operator waved its hands near its face about a little before Marina stood up on her tiptoes and covered its mouth to calm it down some.

Operator giggled uncontrollably, “Sorry- sorry- sorry! Humans are m-my favorite subject!” Operator gently took Marina’s hand and pulled it away from his mouth, “They were truly remarkable! …And really dumb at the same time! It was startling and impressive they got so far actually.” Operator was much calmer now.

Pearl perked up suddenly and now dragged Marina out of the room. Operator looked just a little saddened about Marina being dragged away by her girlfriend. “I just thought of something! Maybe Tar- Operator can go back down to the metro. We’d have to speak to that annoying sea cucumber and catch him up on everything though. He can just introduce himself to people and THEN he can wander about!”

“I suppose so…we’ll have to tell Pinn though. They’ve been going back daily to collect any faded memories from when we had to help them. I’d assume they’d be shaken up to see an android that looks exactly like Tartar standing on the platform…” Marina noted.

Marina would be correct as, when the day arrived and the two snuck a very talkative Operator down into the metro (It literally would not stop talking even for a second about anything), Pinn wasn’t very thrilled to see the android. In fact, Pinn actually did shoot Operator unlike Pearl who had just threatened.

Shockingly, they did land those shots, coating Operator’s face in pink ink. Operator’s hands shot to his face to get the ink off of him. Needless to say, he was fairly panicked. Marina rushed forward to force Pinn to point their dualies away from Operator, “He’s not Tartar! I swear he’s not!” Pinn fought with Marina. They shoved Marina's face and tried to shoot at Operator some more. Pearl eventually joined in to grab Pinn’s other arm.

“Marina’s telling the truth, 8! Listen to her for just a moment!” Pearl forced Pinn’s arm to her side just as Marina did the same. Operator’s eyes were filled with fear and tears that resembled sanitized ink started to flood from their eyes. Finally Pinn’s went still, slightly grumbling under their breath. They glared at Operator with nothing short of pure hatred. Their eyes had fear in them as well.

Operator curled up, hands over its head as it claimed the same as Marina, adding that it didn’t even know why Pinn was calling it Tartar. Honestly, who knew that someone who used to be a genocidal maniac could look so…utterly pathetic. Operator sniffled and whimpered for a bit longer before Pinn finally calmed down enough for Marina and Pearl to let them go.

“So who are you then?” Pinn snapped at Operator, causing him to flinch and cover his head more. “I-It’s Operator…” Operator’s voice was filled with tears. Speaking of, the tears started to create a small puddle around him.

The fear in Pinn’s eyes was still present and they still had one of their dualies aimed at Operator just in case. Operator sniffled and slowly got up. “S…sorry…sorry…” Pinn’s glare wouldn’t lighten up even after Marina and Pearl proved multiple times that Operator wasn’t Tartar pretending to be good.

Operator looked down at the puddle he had created and frowned more. When they moved forward, Pinn grew tense and was ready to fire at Operator once more. He stepped back quickly with his hands near his face, ready to block, “I-I just need a mop a-and bucket! The janitor’s closet is…is right behind you…” Operator pointed at the door behind all three of them. Pinn looked over and only murmured an ‘Oh’ and let Operator pass by.

The rest of that visit was spent getting Pinn used to Operator’s new presence and explaining things. It was also spent getting CQ calmed down from the sudden appearance of his undead boss and appointing him the boss of Operator.

(Ooooh my god, this ending is so rushed ;-;. I am very sorry, I just deeply needed to get this story out before school ended for me in just a week and a half and I have to give the chromebook (what I use to write these stories) back. Btw, Okuto is the name I originally chosen for my Agent 8 if anyone was wondering. Now it’s Pinn!! Originally, I wanted it to be a pun on the word Aimless because I cannot aim at all but I decided against it because Aimlis was way too on the nose along with Amylis)

What you've got to be aware is that if they're free they're always gonna have limitations.

For your phone I'm only knowledgeable on Android. Opera has a built in limited VPN. It works only on the Opera browser though.

However I've found an app that basically works as a VPN for your whole phone

It's limited in servers and I recommend you keep checking the VPN symbol from time to time as after a while it automatically turns off the VPN I think but it works for all apps that use your location which is really good.

It can have very long ads but that's the price for being free. Using it right now and it works 👍

At first it may appear like it has more options than the last one but don't be fooled! Most of the servers are premium. It does have better options if you want your location to be the US or Canada but that's mostly it. The Super Unlimited Proxy is better for European server options.

Weiss moved her fingers, listening to the clicking sound her joints made as she tried to get used to how her new body felt. She was lucky that Pietro was able to save what was left of her after the dust explosion and transfer her aura and soul into this new body to keep her going. Though, it all felt strange no matter how much she moved around or tried to get used to how much quicker her mind was able to think. 

“How does everything feel, Weiss?” Penny asked as she looked the new android over. “I know it is not the same as your original body, but after the dust explosion and the mine collapsed-” 

“Its… its fine, Penny,” Weiss said as she sat down. “You were able to save me. If this body is what I need in order to live, then I’ll accept it.” 

“Then you will need to learn how to operate your new body.” 

Weiss rolled her eyes as a hud came up in front of her eyes. “I’ve used a computer before, I think I’ll be fine.” 

“But this body will be different from a computer.” Penny started to pace as she spoke, taking her eyes off Weiss. “You’ll need to make sure you run through regular maintenance after missions, making sure you keep your antivirus running, check all of your protocols to make sure you are still you.” 

“I know how to use a computer, Penny.” Weiss took an unneeded breath and moved her fingers, watching screens move and change in front of her eyes. “I’ll be able to keep myself safe.” 

“But all of this is different. One wrong turn while connected to the network could change you forever.” 

Weiss let out a soft sigh as she stood up. “And I told you I’ll be fine. But first, I need to figure out how to get rid of this notification about the single women in our area. I need to get back to working on missions with my team, not worry about dating.” 

Penny paused and took a look at Weiss, watching as the bright, blue eyes flickered with red and green. She pinched the bridge of her nose as she spoke, tired. “Let us get you back to my father and he can run diagnostics on you.” 

Weiss looked at Penny curiously for a moment as she watched the screens in front of her glitch out for a brief moment. An electric tingle ran through her body for a moment as she felt herself fade before coming back. “R-right, we’ll get me a check up and then you can help me figure out the rest of my body.” 

Penny extended a hand to Weiss. “Shall we go?” 

Weiss nodded and took Penny’s hand to walk with her to Pietro’s lab, her fingers clicking nervously as she squeezed. Walking felt almost new to her as she made her way through the halls of Atlas, her vision flickering with static the further she went. She didnt realize when she had stopped or even that her legs had quit moving until her arm was pulled by Penny.

“Is everything okay?” 

“I… I think so.” Weiss started walking again, feeling her legs nearly lock up with each step. All of the sounds and sights, all the new sensations were overwhelming and seemed to stop her body from moving well. Every movement required focus that seemed to get pulled elsewhere. 

Penny stopped and squeezed Weiss’s hands, relaxing as she heard the joints click. “Do not think about what you need to move, let your mind take control of your body on your own. You do not need to focus, you need to allocate the process. All you have to worry about is making sure your body is able to process everything you want to do.” 

Weiss slowly nodded and let her mind relax, letting her mind take control of all of her processes. She didnt need to think about moving her legs or arms, didnt need to think about the direction she was going. All she needed was to let her mind take control just like her human body, to automate everything to allow her to think “go”. She took a deep breath, feeling the air travel into her through a vent in her mouth, cooling her body as her mind took control to automate every process she needed. Her soul, her very essence of herself, was all that had to control. Her mind, her thoughts, was all she needed to bridge the gap between desire and control. 

“Your body is not just a computer, it is you.” Penny slowly moved Weiss to sit down, smiling as she watched her friend. “You do not need to worry about controlling it like one, you only need to think about it as your human body. Let your soul control you, your aura power you. All you have to do is give it direction.” 

“I…I think I understand.” Weiss opened her eyes again, the blue around her irises starting to flicker for a brief moment until they turned into an icy blue that seemed as sharp as ice. She slowly stood up and took a step, no longer thinking about walking but letting her soul take control, only giving a direction she wanted to go. “It feels easier.” 

“It will get much easier over time. The first time coming online after a transfer like that is always the worst.” 

“Aura transfer?” Weiss asked as she looked over Penny, seeing the bright smile she always had. “But you were… an artificial human, right?” 

Penny just smiled and went down another hallway. “Father’s lab is not too far. Just a couple more hallways to go.” 

Weiss nodded and followed after Penny, her mind still lingering on the words she had used. First time online after an aura transfer. She silently sighed as she followed Penny down the hall, still unsure of what she meant. Though, for now, that would be a question for after the popups in her field of view were taken care of.
