Having inspiration or not is so weird. My first Destiel fanfic I posted in 2023 but I started writing it way earlier than that. It was 15k words and it was SO HARD to finish. That was Exit Strategy

But once I finished, I immediately started writing something new, got 40k in and just stopped. For 2 years.

Then this year I started writing something new. I wrote Filing Off the Serial Numbers over 40k in 2 months. It was the easiest thing to write and it came out like water. Yes, I was inspired. And yes it was a way for me to cope with all the 💩 happening in the world right now. But still. I had never written so much in my life.

And then I went BACK to the other project I had started in 2023. That’s The Android. That one is over 100k words. I rewrote that and kept writing. It took from about February until April? I’m not finished editing it, but once again, it just flowed out of me.

And I’ve been a little insane about writing. Every moment I have free, I’m writing. I accidentally stayed up until 2AM a few nights ago because I was busy writing.

But I do my life stuff, but then the moment I finish with work? Writing.

The moment I get my kid to bed? Writing.

Free weekend? Writing.

Free time in the evening while I’m at a Supernatural Con? Writing.

I already finished my DCBB and have started outlining/writing a new fic.

And when I think of that first fic I remember how HARD it was to write just 15k now I’ve written things exponentially bigger and done it faster.

I feel like I’m chained to a comet and at some point this ability to write this much this fast is going to disappear but I want to get as much out of it while I can?

Because last time it just dried up for 2 years. I love writing and I love stories and I don’t want it to go away.

I wish I just knew how to drive this car beyond holding on for dear life and waiting for the gas to run out.

Flashback: Awakening - Part 3

The hedgehogs slammed into the wall with great force, Shadow's arm pressed against "Shadow's" throat. It was clear that at least one of them was well and truly over this whole charade.

"Why!? WHY won't you just DIE already!?" Shadow spits, a knife gripped tight in his other hand. "All of the Doctor's little pet projects should have been destroyed long ago - and yet you remain persistent! WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO BE DONE WITH YOU!?"

The hedgehog against the wall stared Shadow down, his eyes narrowing. He'd been trying to kill Shadow, his "clone", for about six months now. And every time, he had managed to slip away. This was the closest he's ever come to his final moments, as Shadow raises the knife.

He spits in the Ultimate Lifeform's face.

"I want my life back."

Shadow was at his wits end at this point. He was no stranger to killing, and if it meant that he was going to finally be rid of this facsimile of life, he was going to take the opportunity. His promise to Sonic didn't matter at this point - this clone was too dangerous to be left alive.

Raising the knife, he moves to bring it down on his pinned opponent. The movement is quick and deliberate - aiming straight for his skull... but unfortunately for him, the clone was just as tricky as he was. Raising his metal arm to block the strike, the clone's synthetic skin was slashed open and Shadow's knife tossed aside. In that moment of surprise, he kicked Shadow in the stomach and shoved him off before taking a dive to the side.

Both of them had come prepared - Shadow with a more modern handgun, and "Shadow" with a single-action revolver. A bit older, and probably not as reliable as a regular pistol would have been. Not to mention slow to reload. But something about this weapon just... felt right in the hedgehog's hands. Both of them had been disarmed of their weapons in the skirmish however, with "Shadow" managing to finally reclaim his own weapon. He checked the cylinder - one more shot, and the rest of his spare ammo had been lost down a drain thanks to Shadow.

If he was going to kill his clone, he had to make this count.

Shadow managed to regain his composure, soon realizing that he was just close enough to pick up his own handgun. Three more shots, and he still had a spare magazine in his back pocket. Clicking the magazine back into place, he stares down his clone from the other end of the alleyway.

A standoff.

Between the two of them, there were no words being exchanged. They took their stances, guns tight in their respective grip and their eyes locked onto the others' own. Crimson hues stared into ruby eyes as they both scowled at their opponent.

And then a single, swift movement from each one... and a single shot from both guns. "Shadow" drew too slow. Shadow's bullet caught the clone hedgehog on the side of the head, damaging the circuits in his implants. This was enough to cause the clone to stagger, his shot going right into the asphalt at Shadow's feet.

Two more shots would ring out from Shadow's gun, catching his clone in the shoulders and causing him to drop to the ground. The Ultimate Lifeform started to walk forward, letting the empty magazine slide out of his gun and onto the ground before he loaded it with the fresh magazine he'd held onto this whole time.

He grabbed the Fake Shadow by the collar, slammed him against the wall, and put the gun to his head. He was a split second away from pulling the trigger before--

"SHADOW!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?"

A familiar voice called out from the other end of the alleyway. It was Sonic; the one person whom he cared about the most, watching him about to not only kill a man, but break the one promise he had made to him. There was a stillness in the air as Shadow's grip on his gun loosened.

"Shadow" watched as the two hedgehogs stared at each other. They were talking, but he couldn't make out anything that they were saying at this point - his damaged circuits ruining his eyesight had also caused a massive headache to form, and his ears to ring. The only thing he could make out was the sound of The Doctor before he left the lab this time, a memory echoing through his mind as his most recent failure played around him.

"If you can't do the job properly this time, then don't bother coming back. Your friends are better off without a weakling trying to upend their whole lives, and I have no use for you either."

His fists clench, and in a last-ditch effort, "Shadow" conjures up the last bit of energy he has. A sphere of Chaos Energy erupts from his body, throwing Shadow back against the opposite wall of the alleyway. He can see Sonic about to run at him as well, but he throws a Chaos Spear in his path to cause him to stagger, and finally uses Chaos Control to teleport away.

Shadow had failed to kill his clone yet again. And part of him hoped that there wouldn't even be a next time.

Flashback: Awakening - Part 1

It had been some time since Metal Sonic went ballistic and tried to take over the world on his own. He was defeated by Sonic and his friends, with everyone having played their part in it. While there may have been no serious injuries or actual casualties, there was one thing that went largely unaccounted for in the aftermath; an entire ship full of clones of one Ultimate Lifeform.

It was one of the first things to be destroyed, being stripped for parts to make the giant metal monstrosity that Metal Sonic would become, Metal Overlord. In that destruction, many of the capsules that contained clones of Shadow were lost to the bottom of the sea with the rest of the ships. A horrible fate, to be sure.

But one of them had gotten launched in the commotion, and while the capsule was damaged, it managed to land on the shore of an island not far from where the battle took place.

And it was only a matter of time before he was found once more.

The capsule had long since drained of all the cloning agent, having cracked upon landing on the island. It managed to hold him long enough to be recovered, but had also lost enough that it was detrimental to the process. Still, as he was in the capsule, he was still unconscious... until the doctor had found him.

He tapped on the keypad near the bottom of the capsule, causing the rest of the liquid to pour out, and awakening the clone. The hedgehog's eyes would slowly open. An evil grin adorns the doctor's face.

"It is a pleasure to see you once again, Ultimate Lifeform," the Doctor's voice would ring out. "You've been asleep for quite some time."

"Shadow" would look up at the doctor, confused about the situation. See you once again, he says... but this man is almost wholly unfamiliar to him. He almost looks like The Professor, but... he didn't even know who the Professor was supposed to be, either. His memories were hazy, a complete blur.

"...Who are you? Where am I?"

"Ah... that's to be expected. Your fall from space almost certainly caused some damage to your memories. Well, you may refer to me as Doctor Eggman - I am the one who took it upon myself to heal your injuries from your last battle."

"My... last battle?" The hedgehog grabbed his head, starting to get a headache from the shock of his memories being so suddenly shaken. "I-I'm not sure I understand..."

"Rest assured, that will be solved in due time. I was in the process of transferring you to one of my more private laboratories to further accelerate your recovery. Unfortunately, my vessel was attacked, and you were cast ashore, so I had to come and recover you myself once the commotion had died down."

Silence from "Shadow" as he looked down at his hands. Something about this situation didn't feel right... but whoever this man was, he clearly knew something about this situation. However, Eggman would speak once more.

"To make matters worse... your old friends have replaced you with a copy. I had warned you about this before, but you didn't heed my warnings. And now... it's far too late."

"Shadow" froze in response. He looks up at Robotnik, a sense of anger fueling him. There was someone out there trying to copy him? This had managed to shake loose some memories...

"Say something, you fake hedgehog!" "I found you, faker!" "I think YOU'RE the fake hedgehog around here." "You're not even good enough to be my fake."

...but in this context, they were horribly misinterpreted.

"...That... faker..." he mumbles. Dozens of thoughts flooded the hedgehog's mind. Could he be the one who put me in this position? Why I feel so weak? Could he have also attacked the Doctor to prevent me from recovering?

"Shadow" reached out and grabbed the side of the pod, trying to pull himself to his feet... only to find out that his legs would give out underneath him. As part of the damage from the cloning process, his legs were much too weak. It would be then that he also noticed that the red streaks on his arms and legs were a dull yellow in color. His ruby eyes widened - what was going on? He wasn't always this color... was he?

Seeing him struggle, Eggman let out a small chortle. "Oh, you poor thing... you've been damaged in the attack, and your healing pod didn't have the time to fully fix you. But no matter... if you come with me, I'll have you back on your feet in no time." He holds out a hand to the cloned hedgehog. "So, what do you say? Partners?"

There were too many factors. Too many unknowns for the hedgehog to feel perfectly comfortable in any decision he would make here. But the few memories he does have... they are working against him. He looks at this man, a man who reminds him of someone he once trusted with his life... and he can't bring himself to say no.

He takes the Doctor's hand into his own. Their partnership was formed...

And soon, the fake hedgehog would fall at the hands of the real Shadow the Hedgehog.

Monika being normal when she doesn't have the power of gods is a large sense-make.

It is!! I think, a lot of the ddlc fandom has a problem where they've flanderised the characters down to their most extreme states and forgot what they actually are like. in the actual game. So there are people out there who write and characterise Monika as if she's always some yandere who's obsessed with the player character who has no morality and will kill anyone who gets in her way. yknow she's not even like that in the actual game either, people just saw that act 3 Monika was kind of yandere-tropey and forgot everything about her actual character and made her yandere girl 300. Monika could have done worse. sorry I'm being a Monika apologist I do have monikan in my blog name. Monika is literally just some dorky high-school girl who was given god powers and told her world wasn't real and that part of her character doesn't go away when she has the revelation, why would it not be present when she doesn't have god powers? I have lots to say about Monika. Thanks for the ask!
