Top 5 Arthur episodes?

D.W. Goes to Washington: It's a very close race between this one and #2, but I gave the edge to this one because almost every line here is classic. It's full of hilarious Imagine Spots and great D.W. zingers.

The Rat Who Came to Dinner: Another episode that's full of great jokes. The dynamic between Ratburn and Arthur's family is comedy gold.

The Contest: The pastiches of different animation styles alone puts this one in the top five, but it's also in service of some wonderfully absurd mini-stories with classic jokes. ("My brain was on cruise control" is the Arthur quote that gets the most use in daily life).

Buster Hits the Books: The pastiches of the different books are hilarious.

Arthur's Almost Boring Day: I had a very tough time choosing the fifth episode. I went with this one because the fighting between Arthur and D.W. reaches a hilarious fever pitch that goes beyond any other episode.

OUGH that's hard,,,

my gut reaction was arthur and mera, obviously. mera honestly wasn't that bad of a mom but she did definitely consider garth more of a,, pseudo son/stepson and that becomes really apparent when arthur jr is born. garth was more arthur's son than hers, yknow? she doesn't treat him badly, but garth is very keenly aware of her not considering him Her son. arthur is,,,,, an awful dad, especially after the silver age era.

overall, i think garth cares a lot more about arthur treating him badly. it hurts more. and the feeling of betrayal never really goes away. arthur genuinely ruined their relationship and it never recovered, even when arthur started being nicer and called garth his son that One time. garth may have forgiven, but he was never able to forget.

on the other hand, garth is kind of able to not care as much when the titans hurt him. i mean,, he's Very sensitive and they Do hurt him, but he learns to brush it off and just deal with it. once they become adults, most of it doesn't even phase him. you can see this best in his interactions with roy where he mostly acts sarcastic and occasionally passive-aggressive. what roy says and does still hurts, but garth has gotten used to it and he doesn't explode anymore. and yknow, there's definitely a discussion to be had about a person as sensitive as garth being so used to his friends treating him badly that he just,, barely cares anymore, but compare that to how he feels when arthur does it,, and you can see there's a hefty difference.

i mean,, personally part of what is appealing about their relationship is the fact that it's Bad, but if i had to pick, i would definitely choose arthur (and mera) being a better parent. i love the titans, and i would love to see them being Good friends to og garth, but garth himself is more hurt by arthur's actions than he is by the titan's.

some more alternative ‘liveries’ in my au~

an engine can have more that one avatar livery ‘saved’ at a time and can swap between them freely

a livery can be created from strong memories and emotion, as well as the physical paint job of the engine

for example; hiro still has his ‘lost engine’ livery because he was in a state of disrepair for so long at it solidified in his mind, he can’t forget the 50+ years he was in that state. where as oliver doesn’t have a ‘scarped engine’ livery because he doesn’t want to remember how close he came to the torch

an engine needs to remember a past livery in order to don it again

so far, james has the most available liveries at 4

Did merlin turned darker and more morally corrupt as the seasons progressed? (This isn't part of the game, I haven't watched the whole show but my mom does so I know a bit, and sometimes it really seems merlin is the #1 enemy of magic as long as Arthur is safe and happy)

yea and no????

like he does get more apathetic with killing people (as in, he isn’t as conflicted about it because his end goal is keeping Arthur alive) and he does have a hand in sabotaging events that could have helped with magic being seen as good (however, it’s not his intention). a lot of the time he feels that he doesn’t have a choice because if he were to choose between magic and Arthur, Merlin will choose Arthur

he did it in 2x08 (I may disagree with the writers’ choice here but the point still stands), he did in 4x02 choosing to sacrifice himself in Arthur’s place, and he did it in 5x05 choosing Arthur’s life again despite knowing that risked Mordred’s own life and the future of magic in Camelot

I wouldn’t call him corrupt and darker in a villainess sense but rather corrupt and darker in a sense where he has spent 10 years being told Arthur was destined to bring the Golden Age of Magic and he was meant to protect him, but then he got too attached to Arthur and no longer cared for the goal everyone set for him. He had a new goal by s4 which was keep Arthur alive despite everything
