Constantly thinking of soulfire, they where everything to me, the way the base felt so cozy and warm after all the disasters was so :[
And I do wonder what would have happened if tubbo didn't keep as tight a hold on bad, if he let his honor slip even a bit, but I think that's the beauty of his character. He never let his honor go.
Despite the death, despite the others wanting to destroy it all, tubbo was always there for moral and to keep the others honorable (well most of the time-)
Bad was the ruthlessness they needed, Tina was the engine keeping it running, and tubbo made sure they kept up their spirits despite it all...
Wish it hadn't ended on a kinda anticlimactic one v one tho like...the whole point was team events...why a one v one...
Anon kissing you on the lips rn
I was talking about this on twitter. But I think that the soulfire base was such an aid to them psychologically. Because it forced them into proximity with each other, and was a shelter from the chaos outside. It was a support. I could write essaysssss
Anyway, tubbo’s honor is such a fascinating topic. Especially his morality, he wants things to be fair, for it to be a good fight in the end. I’ve been rewatching Alta recently but the fire nation’s idea of honor fits tubbos ideals as well, though he has the morality of airbenders. In most cases tubbo would want a fair fight that he knows he has a high chance of losing then a fight where he betrays his own moral code to win.
At his core I think tubbo is a diplomat, but if fighting is necessary he wants it to be fair. But that doesn’t mean he won’t do what it takes to end up victorious
And he tries his best to hold to these morals, and holds his team to them as well, for better then worse in some cases.(Aside from the obvious moments)
bad balanced out tubbo’s honor perfectly with his ruthlessness. And throughout purgatory they were such opposites that worked so well. Tubbo sat back and was careful, bad was reckless.
And bad was loud Bolas was so afraid him because he didn’t care for the blood on his hands. He attacked quickly and fast. It let tubbo hide behind him, make himself seem like someone who was just holding the leash. But remove bad and tubbo was just as much as a threat.
And then Tina played support amazingly. First off the tea strat which was just. Wow. Secondly, even if she wasn’t best at pvp she still but in so much work at ‘home’ that made her so so vital to the team. She also provided vital morale support that soulfire would be nothing without.
And I know this ask didn’t talk about him but I think Pierre’s mindset was interesting as well during purgatory. How he was sort of a loose canon.
He was a big leg up in the game because of his experience with games like purgatory before. But as seen with the ggn elimination day is quick to turn on his team when his ideals start to turn from his own.
I’ve talked about how soulfire became a whole unit before but I have to repeat again. They were a unit. Tubbo was held with such respect by his teammates and in turn they held respect for him as a leader, or “coach”
And then purgatory 2 was so different and it’s just so cool
(As for the ending,,, yeah. I won’t say anything on that but. Just. Yeah. I think there was a lot of things went into that that it’s just a whole god damn mess lol)

blowing carl in an alley way in alexandria 🫢🫢 you’ve got to reach up and clamp a hand over his mouth to quiet all his whimpering and whining while you swallow him down
Blown Away
Y/N giving Carl head in a dark alley, and he whimpers too much. Basically plot, then sex. Everyone is 18 or over.
WARNINGS: smut, nsfw, oral (male receiving)
You and Carl had just left Ron's house, where you had spent the evening playing video games. Carl was going to escort you to Glenn and Maggie's house, where you were living. Neither of you had your own house yet, which made it difficult for you to be together in privacy. Throughout the evening you had shared caresses and kissed, and you hadn't failed to notice the excited glint in Carl's blue eye. "Don't you think we could go into your room on the sly?" suggested Carl now, pressing himself eagerly against you.
"Hardly, it's the middle of the night, they'll hear us," you replied. Your room was right next to Glenn and Maggie's bedroom. You hadn't made your relationship public yet because Carl had recently broken up with Enid; only Ron knew.
You stopped in the middle of the street and kissed passionately. "I want you, however, Y/N," Carl whispered in frustration, groping your breasts.
"It won't be possible anyway," you murmured regretfully. "I'm on my period." Carl sighed in disappointment.
Nonetheless, you wanted to be close to him and ran your hands through his hair as you continued to kiss. You buried your face in the curve of his neck and inhaled his scent, which you couldn't get enough of. Then you kissed his collarbone and pushed his shirt aside to kiss his shoulder as well, at the same time stroking your hand across his chest, down to his belly button.
"What are you doing?" asked Carl, his voice hoarse with excitement.
"I want to kiss you down there," you sighed, sliding his shirt up and breathing soft kisses on his belly, just above his belt.
Carl took a sharp breath. "Let's go over there," he said aroused, pointing to a dark alley between two residences. It was a narrow, unpaved walkway connecting to the parallel street. Hastily, you ducked into the shadows. Carl stopped and leaned backwards against a pear tree, taking off his shirt, while you got down on your knees in front of him, undid his belt and pants, and pulled his jeans down to his knees, along with his boxers.
It was the first time ever that you gave Carl a blowjob, and he was all impatient and couldn't wait for you to finally take his cock in your mouth. He bucked his hips and moaned audibly as you slightly licked his tip. His cock twitched and the first drops of precum dripped out. You encircled his reddish tip with your tongue. You liked the taste of Carl and the scent of him. "Oh, please," Carl whimpered, pushing your head down. "Suck me off, pleaaase."
In the nearby house where Hershel lived, the light was switched on in a room on the first floor. "Hello?" sounded Hershel's voice, and the silhouette of the old man could be seen at the open window. "Is anyone there? Carl, is that you?"
"Sssshshhh," you made, pulling away from Carl, which elicited another whimper from him.
"Go on," he demanded impatiently. "No one will see us here yet."
"'Be quiet,'" you hissed, waiting until Hershel finally disappeared from the window, turning out the light.
"Keep sucking, please," Carl begged, already fidgety and overly horny. "It's wonderful." Again you took his shaft in your mouth and ran your lips up and down it, caressing his balls with your hand. Carl's head fell back against the tree, and his moans ascended into the cool night air as his knees went all wobbly and shaky from what you were doing to him.
Again you paused and let his saliva-wet cock slip out of your mouth. "Carl, you're supposed to be fucking silent," you admonished him again. "It's mid July, people sleep with their windows open, and..."
You hadn't finished talking when Denise called out from the other house, "Who's out there? Is everything okay?" and beamed out with a flashlight. While the beam didn't reach far enough, she sounded irritated; so you had to assume that she would eventually come out to check on the alley.
Carl, meanwhile, had sat down in the grass and was leaning back against the tree, his cock as hard as a rock. "Carl, you've got to be quiet," you urged him again. "Otherwise we'll get caught."
"I don't care," he said needily. "Now just go on."
Angrily, you stared at him before continuing to suck him off. Of course, his whimpering, begging and whining started up again immediately, and finally you just covered Carl's mouth unceremoniously with your hand while you were getting him off.
From his tense muscles, you realized he was beyond close. He bucked up under you, trembling, and rammed his cock deep into your throat as he came with a muffled scream and your mouth filled with his cum. You swallowed. It took a moment for his movements to slow down, his cock limped and he sank back exhausted, then you lay in the grass under the pear tree looking at each other in love. "Can we do this more often?" Carl asked.
"Maybe not right here," you said teasingly, kissing him softly on the lips.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝
It was a dull night, I just got back from Lord Diavolos Castle, I was required to help around for the upcoming party
I slowly put my bag down, feeling pretty tired from all the work I did, but there was one thing I had to check before heading back to sleep
Someone who's been working way too much, the random footsteps from afar could be heard
I slowly walk towards the familiar door, the one I enter almost each and every night thought for the past week I couldn't have made it due to Diavolos' requirements.
Slowly putting my ear next to door, trying to listen if there was any sound inside, a stern voice making me flinch
"I swear if it's you, Mammon, again, I'll hang you upside down!" Lucifer shouted in a clearly annoyed tone, and it could be very much heard through the door
I press the handle and open the door. Lucifer is already staring at it
"Sorry ,Lucifer, I just wanted to check on you. I haven't seen you in a while" keeping my voice as soft as possible, seeing that Lucifer was not in the mood for anything
He just stared at me, right into my eyes. The moonlight was going over his face, making Lucifers features more noticeable, but just when he was about to speak, the second oldest voice was heard
"OI human! Where have ya been all day?! Come 'ere! No more waisting time here. " Mammon grabbed my hand and pulled me out of Lucifers office just as if he no longer wanted to see me in there
"Mammon- wait! Hold on!" I tried stopping him, but there was no chance he'd actually listen to me. Sometimes, I wonder why Mammon isn't the avatar of envy. That would suit him more... when it comes to me.
He kept talking, but instead of listening, I was continuously looking back, hoping Lucifer would come and take me away from his brother and that I'd be in his embrace... but that did not happen because while staring back at the corridor, I could see the door slowly closing back.
As the both of us reached my room, I spoke in a silent yet tired voice.
"I should get some rest, uhm thanks for bringing me to my room...I need to wake up early to help Lord Diavolo out" I groan reminding myself that I indeed need to help out and it was already late.
Mammon looked at me dissapointed yet he did not give up and invited himself in my room starting up a conversation that took atleast three more hours but what can I say other than it was indeed fun, we laughed, giggled , played some games and even comforted eachothers.
Thought my mind was still set on Lucifer, quite worried actually he hadn't left his office since the last time I actually visited him...he'll I hope he's taking care of himself and not overworking.
I brush my thoughts aside, watching as Mammon slowly leaves my room waving goodbye. The moon shined brighter as the time went by, I had to at least get a bit of sleep, I had to help them out, or else Diavolo would be disappointed
My eyes slowly closed, bringing me to my slumber, helped by my blanket, a very comfortable and puffy one.... I didn't even realise I didn't change my clothes due to how tired I was, and we'll because I got distracted by the sin of greed, Mammon.

Time passed very fast
Diavolos party was starting to look amazing. The finishing touches, making it look absolutely stunning, I was proud of myself for being able to help with so many things my eyes flickering satisfying with all of it, as I take one more look at everything.
I was incredibly happy, but I still felt like something was missing.Someone was missing
Where was he?
I haven't seen his face for the past weeks.
Should I go look for him?
All the questions rang in my head, I needed to know how he was doing.
My mind was made up. I was gonna go search for him. As I was about to go, Lord Diavolo snapped me back to the party
"Ah... yes, the finishing touches, how could I forget I still had to help..!"softly whispering to myself, at how forgetful I get when it comes to the avatar of pride...
Kinda dissapointed at the fact that I can't go see him right now. Oh, how I wish...
The faster I finish this, the quicker I'll get to him!
Or so I thought....

For the past hours, I've been helping, it seems as Diavolos thoughts had no stop...!
I'm so tired... After all, im just a human doing all this work.
"Diavolo... we finished everything. Isn't it time to let us go back?" I asked a bit confused since we finished the actual plan a few hours ago.
"Ah yes! But there's so many ideas so much to do!" He responded with his iconic laugh."Sorry (y/n) you can go rest. I understand you don't have the energy as us the demons."
I took a deep breath in. Finally, I can go check on him.
"Thank you!" I respond eagerly, ready to leave.
I didn't usually walk alone in the devildom. It was dangerous for... a human that's what everyone told me, i was supposed to wait for one of the brothers to walk with me towards the House of Lamentation, but I was too worried about the oldest brother, so instead of waiting I was speeding towards the house.
𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 𓆝 𓆟𓆝
Quickly making my way in rushing towards Lucifers office, I slowly knock on the door but only for it to get no response.
"Lucifer?" I ask softly, deciding to open the door as I pull it open
I'm peeking my head inside the room as I see him. His head was lying on the table, probably way too tired to get to his room.
I wonder how long he has been here for?
For how long has he been skipping meals?
"Lucifer.." I call out again his name as I comb my fingers through his hair
He started to stir a bit, and then he brought his head up to look at me
"(y/n)? why are you here? I must've fallen asleep. I have to get back to my work. Thank you for waking me."But my mind was made to at least get him to rest for a bit.
"You need to rest the work can wait," looking him directly in the eyes... his eyes looked so tired, so exhausted."You've been working for the past weeks for what I know. You deserve a break, so please let me help you."
He looked at me, debating if he should listen to me or not... but he knew I wouldn't stop until he rested.
"Alright then." he got up, looking just as exhausted, but instead of walking towards the door, he came to me. "But you're also resting with me, don't think I didn't know you've also been working more than you should of." his hands made their way around my waist , holding me close.
My cheeks turned into a soft red. "But unlike you, I got rest from time to time..!" complaining at his statement.
"Let's head to my room." pulling me towards him, not letting go of my hand as he took the lead into getting us towards his room.
At that time, I forgot I didn't change my clothes due to the hurry I was in. "I think I'll head to my room." I told him
"You're not spending the night with me?" his voice sounded dissapointed, he wanted me to stay , and who was I to decline?
"I'll just change my clothes and come right back, alright?" As I turned my head towards the direction of my room
"I can give you some spare clothes." he responded quickly, grabbing my hand and pulling me inside the room "I don't want you to leave."
I watched him as he got me the spare clothes he had already changed, and so was I about to do as well.
It took me a few minutes, but I finished, I went into the bed right next to Lucifer.
He put his hands around me and pulled me, holding me against his chest. His heartbeat was going fast yet soft like a nice melody.
His voice was soft as he said, "How I wished we'd do this again, I'm sorry I got so worked up with all the paperwork my dear (y/n)" as he held me as close as possible
"It's alright, I was just worried since you haven't been getting rest" I whispered out my thoughts "I want you to take more care of yourself."
"Anything for you my dear."
Those were the last words exchanged from the both of us as we fall into a deep slumber both of us happily in eachothers arms again after so long.

Trafalgar law, 11, 😏
(is that how you do it? 😭😭)
Hello Anonymus,
As long I understand what you mean, you're doing it right.
This story is part of my follower milestone event
Here's
Siren song
Law is just moping around the ship like the emo kid he is - when his ears hear some enticing sounds
The polar tang had been caught in some very strange streams for the past days. The engine was periodically overheating and Bepo tried to make sense of everything. Law had left the bear crying over his sea charts as he failed to grasp how to escape the stream and proceed.
For most of the crew, it meant boredom. Law decided to read up on infectious deseases of the grand line and sat down at his desk for some nice, quiet study.
Time flies when he's really focusing, without even realizing it, night came and he had to turn on the lights. When he got up, stretching and yawning, he heard something, faint and distant, like a hum. An unusual sound on a submarine was always worth an investigation - Law decided to stretch his legs and see what's up.
The ship was quiet, most of the crew had come together in the mess hall for card games. Law passed the sound of laughter and left it behind, moving toward the faint sound. Slowly he could identify it as someone singing, a woman's voice, a calm and dreamlike song. He was drawn towards the source of the sound like he was towed.
He tracked it to a door - it was a work room for repairs. Law swallowed before he opened the door. He peeked in - it was Y/n, sitting at the workbench, mending her overalls. She had thread and needle in hand and stitched something onto the white fabric. She hadn't heard him, she sang and worked uninterrupted. Law didn't make a sound, he simply stared at her. Warm light illuminated her face and hair, giving the scene a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. In that moment, she looked and sounded like a serene angel.
Her song stopped, Law blinked like he was released from some spell. She began putting away the sewing kit - and gasped in surprise when she saw Law standing in the door.
"Oh, hi! Was I too loud?"
He shook his head.
"Uhm, ok. I'm done here, you have everything to yourself."
He nodded. He saw that she didn't bother changing the boiler suit, she sat on the chair in her panties and a tank top. Hard swallow.
He yanked his own shirt off, revealing his naked torso, and handed it to her.
"Could you mend that, too?" He asked flatly.
"Uhm, sure, where's the hole?" She inquired, sitting down again.
"Uhm" he looked at the unscathed shirt in his hands.
"Just here" he said and poked a whole with his finger into the fabric and handed it back to her.
"Strange place for a hole" she said when she looked at the random placement on the chest.
But Law's insidious plan worked, she started mending it, humming a quiet, beautiful song.
You
You were a little suspicious of what game he was playing, but he graced you with the sight of impeccable chest muscles and tattoos, so you let that slide.
The damage was minor, you had it fixed in a minute and handed him his shirt back. You tried to get up and get in your boiler suit again when he tossed the shirt aside and began unbuttoning his pants.
"Would you fix these, too?" He handed you his fashionably torn jeans, leaving him in his underwear. You had seen his upper body a few times already, but this was a new level of exposed flesh, even for him. Tan skin covered his sculpted muscles. His low hanging underwear showed you the full extend of his happy trail and gave you a glimpse of what lay beneath.
You tore your stare off his body and studied the pants - the holes were enormous, but it was part of the style. You were sure that he bought them like this.
"Law, you realize these are supposed to be like that? You have worn these for years now."
"Yeah, I want them whole now" he answered nonchalantly.
"I...I can't fix them, there is not enough fabric to sew together" you answer as you hand them back to him. He tossed them in the same corner as his shirt and proceeds to look at you, making you painfully aware that your nor fully clothed yourself.
"Than...just sing a little more, just a minute" he said.
"I'll try." you said, unsure if this would work like that. You were a shower singer, not a stage singer, and right now you sat without your pants in front of staring, hot, half naked guy. Closing your eyes, you cleared your throat and sang another song from your home.
It worked, after a time, when you had pushed the thought of your hot captain to the back of your mind and you got into the flow like you were alone.
When you opened your eyes again you were staring directly into two blue eyes, inches from your face. Law had crouched down in front of you and now laid his hands on your knees.
"Beautiful" he breathed.
His hands wander up and down your naked legs while his hooded eyes gazed up at you. Carefully, you placed your hands on his, causing him to smile.
"Wait" he said, getting up. He went to the door and you heard the click of the door lock. He turned around with a wicked grin on his face.
"Now, I'll make you sing a little more"

Prompt - Please stay
When Harry walked into the pub, of course he noticed that platinum blond head of hair immediately. Of course his eyes were naturally drawn to the tall, lean, pale figure sitting at the bar.
And of course it hurt to see him again. It had been less than two months since they ended their year-old relationship. They'd fought frequently as a couple but that last fight was different. They'd yelled and screamed so much Harry lost his voice. They'd hurled insults at each other that hit hard and cut deep. Draco stormed out during arguments all the time, but he always came back. Harry waited over a week and Draco never came back, never reached out, never responded to Harry's owls, texts, calls, or Floos.
Harry's breath caught in his throat at the sight of Draco sitting at the bar with another man—who was leaning in way too close in Harry's opinion. His gait faltered but he quickly recovered, tearing his eyes away from the painful scene and refocusing on his coworkers.
They'd had an absolutely grueling day in the field so when one of the Aurors on Harry's team said drinks were on him, no one turned down the offer. A couple of hours after they arrived, they practically took up the entire back end of the pub, spread across multiple tables. A group of four played a game of darts while two others drunkenly argued over a game of chess. Some had formed a crowd around the telly to shout about the Quidditch match. No one seemed to mind; in fact, aside from them not many people were there at all.
"Harry. . . Harry. . . Auror Potter. . . Harry Potter!" Auror Kane snapped his fingers in Harry's face. "Do you want another," he asked when he finally had Harry's attention.
"Huh?" Harry hadn't even finished his first glass while most of his coworkers were working on their third or fourth. "Oh, no, I'm alright." Harry was sitting at a table with five other Aurors but he wasn't paying attention to them at all. He didn't have the energy to try to engage in conversation with them. He didn't pretend to try like he normally did when he was around people. He was too busy recovering from the shit show of a day he'd had. . . And staring at Draco and the guy he was with.
Draco was clearly inebriated, swaying slightly on his barstool and getting more handsy with the other man as the night went on. It concerned Harry because Draco didn't like being drunk in public. He didn't like being anything but clearheaded when he wasn't in the comfort of his own home or a close friend's.
It made something uneasy settle in Harry's gut and he had a feeling he might want to stay sober so he approached the bar to order himself a water. He made sure to stay a few feet away and on the side behind Draco, hoping to avoid being seen. He wasn't far enough to avoid hearing their conversation.
"What will it take to get you to come home with me?" Harry didn't mean to eavesdrop. Those words from whoever that stranger was just caught his attention.
"Like, three more drinks," Draco slurred. That was the last thing he needed, in Harry's opinion.
"We can make that happen, but why don't we continue drinking at my place where we can get more comfortable, hmm?" He trailed his finger along the inside of Draco's exposed wrist, up his arm, and stopping at his elbow to continue from his chest to his throat.
Draco nodded. "As long as I'm too pissed to remember this tomorrow." He giggled and swayed on his stool, taking another long gulp of whatever he was drinking.
The man laughed at that and it set Harry off. This man was very clearly sober enough to realize he was taking advantage of Draco, but Harry wasn't going to allow that.
He walked over to the two men, fueled by his own anger, and left his water behind on the bar. "I think it's time for you to go," he warned the other man, stepping in the small space between them with his back to Draco.
The prick just smiled at Harry. "Thats exactly what we were intending to do. Isn't that right, Draco?"
Harry spared a glance at Draco to find that he suddenly seemed very tired. Up close Harry could see the bags under his eyes and the worry in his eyes, things someone who didn't know him so well would've missed entirely. "Potter, what're you doing?" Draco pinched the bridge of his nose.
Things seemed to connect in asshole's brain and realization showed in his wide-eyed expression. "Potter? Harry Potter? You're . . . Oh ."
Harry ignored him, instead answering Draco's question, still glaring at the now-nervous stranger. "Keeping this prick from taking advantage of you."
"I didn't ask for your help! You weren't even supposed to be here. Would you just leave? I can handle myself." His words were so slurred Harry knew he wasn't in any state to make decisions.
Harry finally turned around. "I'm not going to let you do something you'll regret tomorrow, if you even remember it." He crossed his arms over his chest.
"The goal is not to," he mumbled to himself. "I'm an adult. If I want to go home with him I can, and I do so I will." He tilted his glass back and finished its contents. "Now if you'll excuse me." He pushed past Harry to drag the other man away by the arm, stumbling as he did so. The asshole allowed himself to be pulled away with a sly smirk.
Harry followed them, catching up with a couple quick strides. "Draco, no." He grabbed Draco's arm just above the elbow and pulled him back.
He whirled around to face Harry and paled, looking as if he was about to be sick, but he didn't pause. "What is your problem?" Draco yelled, drawing attention to the three men. Luckily, it was getting late and the bar was nearly empty. Harry noticed then that his coworkers had all left at some point.
"What is your problem?" Harry shot back. "You're getting drunk in public, going home with a stranger. Why are you being so reckless?"
Draco scoffed. "Don't act like you care, Pot—" Draco cut off suddenly and Accio'd a trash bin, puking as soon as it got to him.
"I'm going to go. Draco, you have my number. Call me if you'd like to meet up again, yes?" The other man began to retreat.
"No, don't go," Draco protested, but it was useless because he threw up again as soon as he said it. "See what you did? You ruined my night!" He said once the prick left.
"Yes, because that was all me. I'm sure it had nothing to do with your getting sick." Harry rolled his eyes, his voice dripping in sarcasm.
Deciding he wasn't going to be sick anymore, Draco walked to the pub's exit. "Just go home, Potter. You've done enough for one night."
Harry placed extra galleons on the bar as an apology, then followed Draco. "Oh, no. I'm not going anywhere until I get you home safe. You're in no state to be Apparating yourself." Harry pulled his wand and stepped close to Draco.
"I can Apparate myself home. I'm not that pissed." That was a lie.
Instead of arguing, Harry just wrapped an arm around Draco's waist and Apparated them back to Draco's flat. The moment they arrived, Draco scurried to the bathroom to puke again.
Harry followed him. He opened the cabinet behind the mirror where he knew Draco kept most of his potions. He pulled out some Sober-Up and then wet a towel with warm water. "Here, drink this." He handed Draco—who was seated on the floor in front of the toilet— the Sober-Up.
"Thanks," the blond mumbled, downing the potion in one gulp. He made a sour face at the taste and Harry offered him a cup of water he'd summoned from the kitchen. He sipped at it and then placed it on the counter.
Harry handed him the damp towel to wipe his face, then sat in the floor with Draco with his eyes closed, saying nothing. He wasn't sure how long they sat like that before he broke their heavy silence. "Do you want to tell me what that was about?" He looked at Draco then.
Draco cast his gaze downward and shrugged one shoulder. "I dunno," he murmured.
There was another pause before Harry sighed. "Do you want me to just leave?" Draco had been the one to walk out on him after all. He probably didn't want to see Harry.
"No!" Draco blurted, too loud for the small space. He took a breath and tried again. "I mean, no, I —" Harry noticed tears start to form in Draco's eyes so he moved closer, concerned. Draco allowed Harry to pull him into a hug. "I just can't believe she's gone," he whispered.
"What? Who's gone?" Harry's blood ran cold. He hadn't heard about any deaths recently, but that could be why his friends had prevented him from reading the papers.
Draco sniffled and pulled away from Harry, wiping at the tears that had escaped. "You really don't know?"
Harry shook his head, confused and concerned.
"My mother, she . . ." Draco broke off, unable to say it.
"Oh Merlin, Draco, I had no clue." He knew Narcissa hadn't been well, but he hadn't heard this terrible news. There was no way he'd have been willing to give Draco space if he knew he was suffering. Then it made sense why his friends wouldn't want him to know. He pulled Draco back into his chest. "I'm so sorry."
"I just . . . didn't want to be alone, didn't want to be stuck with my thoughts. I needed a distraction."
Harry could feel Draco's tears wetting his shirt, but he didn't mind. "Hey, it's alright," Harry tried to soothe him. "You're not alone. I'm right here."
Draco sobbed, his whole body shaking as he let himself fall apart in Harry's arms. He adjusted their position so he was sitting between Harry's legs, crying into his chest, his arms wrapped around Harry's neck.
Harry didn't know what to do so he just held him there, rubbing his back gently. "I've got you. It's ok." Minutes went by like this, with Harry just holding Draco and reassuring him that he wasn't alone.
Draco finally calmed down— seeming to be out of tears for the time being—but they stayed in that position on the floor. "Harry?" He said eventually. His voice was small and it broke on the name.
Harry's heart did a flip in his chest—that he pretended not to feel—at hearing Draco call him by his first name. His own heartbreak was not as important as Draco right now. "Yes, love?" The term of endearment was a habit and Harry cursed himself for using it then.
But Draco either didn't notice or didn't mind. "Please, stay with me?" Harry could hear the hope and need in his voice. There was no way he could say no. There was no way he'd ever want to say no to this man.
Harry nodded and squeezed him tighter. "Of course. As long as you need me."

It had been a long, rainy, boring day. It had rained from the moment the sun came up. Adam hadn't moved much from the couch at all that day. He had been working since 9am that morning, it was now currently 4:30pm.
Jonah, on the other hand, stayed in his room playing video games all day. But you could only keep Jonah entertained for so long.
Jonah left his room looking bored and walked into the living room, sitting next to Adam.
"Dude, I'm so bored!"
Jonah complained with a sigh, crossing his arms as he looked at the blank TV in front of him.
"You almost done with those reports? You've been at them all day!"
Jonah complained again. Adam rolled his eyes.
"If you're so bored, just go play your dang video games again..!"
Adam said, looking at Jonah from the corner of his eye for a moment before looking back at his computer. Jonah huffed, rolling his eyes.
"I'm bored of them now..."
Jonah whined, Adam scoffed.
"Not my problem..."
Adam replied, his eyes never leaving the laptop screen as he typed away at the keyboard. Jonah groaned, resting his head against the couch for a moment. It was all quiet, peaceful even with the sound of rain outside.
But just as Adam was about to sigh to himself in peace. Jonah lay across his lap, almost knocking the laptop off it.
"What the fuck are you doing??"
Adam stammered, lifting his laptop away to prevent Jonah crushing it.
"What? I'm comfy!"
Jonah said with his signature shit eating grin on his face. Adam huffed in annoyance, shaking his head.
"Well, just be quiet down there..."
Adam grumbled, moving his laptop to the arm of the couch to continue his work. Again, the room fell into silence aside from Adams persistent typing on his laptop. Jonah sighed, his brain trying to wrack up ideas to cure his boredom. Then, he got an idea.
Jonah grinned, silently sneaking a hand up and poking Adams side. Adam squeaked, his body jumping. Adam looked down at Jonah with a glare.
"What?"
Jonah asked, pretending as if he were innocent.
"You know what! Quit it!"
Adam grumbled before slowly going back to his work. Jonah grinned, still laying across Adams lap. Jonah left it a few moments before doing the same action, this time poking Adams ribs. This earned a louder squeak from Adam and his body reacted more.
"Jonah!"
Adam snapped again, glaring down at the boy in his lap. Jonah grinned.
"What? I'm not doing anything!"
Jonah chuckled, holding his hands up in defence.
"I swear to god, you better quit that! Im trying to work! One more time and i swear..!"
Adam grumbled, glaring at Jonah one last time before his eyes left Jonahs for the screen in front of him. Jonah grinned. He was eager to push Adam. So, for one last time, Jonah reached over and squeezed Adams hip.
Adam squealed his hands, coming down from his laptop to defend his sensitive hips. Jonah laughed, finally getting what he wanted from Adam.
"Ha! You should have seen your face! I didn't know you could make that... sound..."
Jonahs laughter slowed when he opened his eyes to see a very "angry" looking Adam glaring down at him in his lap. Jonah thought he may have taken things too far.
"S-sorry dude... i-i didn--"
Jonahs apology was cut sort by Adam quickly grabbing a hold of Jonah, instantly digging into Jonahs sides. Jonah squeaked, instantly trying to defend his sides as he giggled.
"H-Hey! Hehe Adahaham! Hahaha I'm sohohorry!"
Jonah giggled. Adam rolled his eyes.
"Are you?"
Adam said in a blunt tone. But it quickly became clear he wasn't actually mad at Jonah. Just giving him a taste of his own medicine. Adams tickling fingers soon moved to Jonahs tummy, going under the shirt.
It was now Jonahs turn to squeal, trying to roll out of Adams lap and push the assaulting fingers away, but to no avail.
"nahHAHA! ADAM! HAHA PLEHEHEASE! HAHAHA STAHAHAP!"
Jonah pleaded. But Adam held Jonah firmly in his lap. Not letting the boy escape him. Jonah continues to squeal and giggle, his face slowly starting to turn red.
"What? You said you where board? Isn't this what you wanted?"
Adam asked, a small visible smug smile appearing on his face. Jonahs face, if it could, got even more red at Adams statement.
"S-SHUHUHUT UP! IHI DID NOHOHOT!"
Jonah protested. Adam simply rolled his eyes.
"Really? Then why would you tickle me, huh? Unless you wanted something? Unless you wanted this?"
Adam taunted, trying to keep up the blank look but failing miserably. A grin etched onto his face. Jonahs face, however, was now bright red.
"SHUHUT UHUHUP! HAHA PLEHEHEASE! THIHIS IHIHISNT FAIR!"
Jonah protested. Desperately trying to push Adams hands away as he kicked his legs.
"Not fair?"
Adam grinned.
"I'll show you not fair..."
Jonah didn't even have time to prepare himself as Adam lifted his shirt, took a breath, and started to blow raspberries on Jonahs poor tummy. Jonah squealed, he sqealed so loud the neighbours could probably hear him.
Jonah was in hysterics, tears of laughter forming in his eyes. His arms growing weak as he tried to push Adam away.
"ADAM! HAHAHA PLEHEHEHEASE! HAHA I-I CAHAHANT!"
Jonah finally begged. After a few more short raspberries, Adam let up. Jonah panted heavily, his body weak as it lay across Adams lap.
"You okay?"
Adam asked with a small chuckle, ruffling Jonahs hair lightly. Jonah took a few more breaths.
"Y-Yeah... i-i thihink so"
Jonah replied, wiping the tears of laughter from his eyes. Jonah sat up, moving off of Adams lap and sitting beside him. He rested his head on Adams shoulder, his breathing slowly starting to calm.
Adam chuckled, patting Jonahs back and rubbing his shoulder.
"Now shut up, I'll hang with you in a bit..."
Adam said playfully, ruffling Jonahs hair once more before turning to his laptop again. Jonah sighed, his head still on Adams shoulder. Adam had tired him out for sure.
♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎♡♥︎
When Adam was finally done, he looked over at Jonah, whose head still rested on his shoulder. To Adams surprise, Jonah was asleep. Adam chuckled, wrapping an arm around Jonah gently as he sighed and closed his eyes as well.
Adam soon fell asleep as well, the two best friends were asleep together on the couch the rest of the evening.
And that's it! Took a bit for this one as I've had so many essays to write for collage :[ but I really like this one so I hope you guys enjoy! 💙

Blackleg Sanji x gn!Reader
December 15th 2023 Words: 1177 CW: SFW / Modern AU / no/pre relationship / mentions of alcohol, but no drinking / flirting / very suggestive talk / a kiss / Sanji may be a bit ooc, but he’s precious
You met up with Sanji to go Christmas shopping and got more than you bargained for.
Tumblr media
You waited outside the mall to meet Sanji. The traffic was much lighter than you expected, so you arrived a little early. Sanji was on time and complained that you hadn't told him. He felt bad that you had to wait. You shrugged it off and assured him that it wasn't a big deal before you both entered the mall.
"Are you ready for our big Christmas gift hunt? What do you have on your list?" Sanji asked with a determined smile.
"I have to get something for my father. He discovered his love for whisky this year. So, I thought maybe you could recommend something?" I asked Sanji. "What do you need?"
"I want to buy a new suit for myself and something for my sister, but I don't know exactly what. Could you help me with that?"
"Of course, Sanji. Let's go!"
It took you three stops to find the perfect gift for Reiju: a white headset with cat ears, neon lights and pink details. You'd been to Sanji's house many times, and you'd seen her in online games often enough. You were sure she would like it. Sanji was pleased that you were so attentive, and the two of you made your way to the next shop.
"So, what kind of whisky has your father tried so far?" asked Sanji as he slowly walked down the aisle, looking at the variety of fine whiskies.
"He had one of those classic bourbons and one with a strong, smoky aroma. The ones where you open the bottle and the whole room smells like you're sitting in the smoke of a bonfire." You wrinkled your nose.
"I see. And which did he like better?" asked Sanji, scratching his short goatee thoughtlessly.
"I think it was the smoky one." You looked at the bottles. Some were fancy, others simple.
"Then maybe we should go for something in between. Smooth, but with a nice smoky flavor. Let's see... Ah, this would be good." He took the bottle from the shelf and handed it to you. "It's not too expensive either. What do you think of it?"
"Looks good," you said, looking at the bottle and reading the text on it. It sounded very appropriate for your father and you smelled it. The smell of smoke made you wrinkle your nose, but it was a much more pleasant smell than the last one your father had.
"Yes, I like this one. We'll take it with us. Thanks, Sanji." You gave him a grateful smile.
"The pleasure was all mine." He said gently as you paid and you both left with another gift inside the bag.
Jolly Christmas music played as you entered the next shop. It was a suit shop and Sanji was a regular customer here. He knew exactly where to look. But before he decided if he wanted to try on an item, he showed it to you to get your approval. Soon he had three different suits in his arms and you walked over to the dressing rooms. Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" was playing as you sat on one of the chairs and waited for Sanij to change and show you the first suit. You bobbed your head to the music.
The song was coming to an end when the curtain was pulled aside with a flourish and Sanji appeared. His lips moved in sync with the music and he pointed his finger at you as he sang "All I want for christmas iiiiiis - youuuuuu", moving his hips to the rhythm. You giggled and so did he, this little playful banter really lightened the mood. When you regained your composure, you gave him your honest opinion about the suit and the other two he tried on. He then chose the first one, which had been both your and his favorite from the start.
Sanji put on his own clothes again. He put away the things he didn't want to take with him and the two of them went to the cashier with the suit he wanted to buy. The cashier looked like a bodybuilder and went to work. When he told Sanji the price, his jaw dropped. He had completely forgotten to look at the price... He regained his composure and looked at the man angrily. He had been shopping with Nami often enough to know all her tricks, so he tried his best.
"There's no way that suit is worth that much money. Look at the quality. Did you see the stitching on the seams? I want at least 70% off!" said Sanji loudly and overdramatically.
The cashier looked unimpressed. "You don't have to buy it, sir."
Sanji's expression changed from anger to surprise and he had to think of another way to get a discount quickly. He swallowed. There was one last thing he could try... .... He swallowed his pride and decided to try one last time because he really wanted this suit and most of all he wanted to impress you.
"You know, I want it. It just fits this masterpiece of a body perfectly. You'd be impressed." He said in a deep, flirtatious voice, his eyes half-lidded with a fiery gaze.
You coughed to keep from choking on his performance. You could tell how uncomfortable he was by the way he pressed his foot to the ground. The muscles in his thigh were tense and showing through his pants. But you had to admit, he was pretty damn tempting right now, so you distracted yourself with the socks and belts that were on a rack near the cash register.
"Oh, do you think your special someone over there would be okay with that? Because I'd like to see your body underneath me, blondie." The cashier purred and leaned over the counter to get closer to Sanji.
"Oh, don't worry about them, they are not what I want. But you, my dear, are an amuse-gueule I’d like to taste." Sanji leaned over and whispered the last words into the cashier's ear.
You had to avert your eyes because the way the two men looked at each other was steaming hot and had you blushing. You let out a sigh of relief when you saw that Sanji had paid and gotten a big discount as well as the receipt with the cashier's number on it. You were about to go over to him and leave the store when the cashier pulled him back by his tie and gave him a passionate kiss across the counter. Sanji didn't even have time to react as he let go of him and blew him another kiss as we hurried out of the store.
"Sanji, oh my..."
"Don't. I'm not going to talk about it. I have to rinse my mouth out with mouthwash or even sanitizer first..." said Sanji. His face was full of disgust, but the blush on it was sweet. You giggled and took him to the nearest drugstore. At least he got a 40% discount on the suit.

@aaaaaaaaaatlas your tags on my last evrart analysis post got me thinking SO MUCH that rather than adding onto that thread i just had to make a whole new post to discuss my thoughts
Tumblr media
because it's something i hadn't thought much about recently but you're SO RIGHT? my initial playthrough i like most others was afflicted with chronic "don't want to let kim down disease" so while i DID see evrart's storyline fully through because i was like "i don't want to miss out on things?? i need to get my gun???" i did so pretty reluctantly while not trusting him at all & that was pretty much because of kim. actually finishing the first playthrough & viewing evrart on a different lens because of that made me read him totally different on second and third go arounds though & having a few evrart posts circulating i've seen several tags along the lines of "didn't know any of this, i kept him at arms length because of kim/never finsihed any of his tasks bcus kim didn't like it" & it's SO interesting to dig into.
i think part of it has to do with how on a first playthrough where you aren't familiar with evrart & where his motivation really comes from, on top of him being clearly generally manipulative it's SO apparent that he's manipulating harry. & i feel like this is something that kim sees through just as much as us players. i think this manipulation shows through a lot in evrart's constant.. "favoritism" is the only way i can think to phrase it. towards harry. it comes out a lot in dialogue trees around the folder but several other times as well. a few moments that highlight what i mean wrt both manipulating harry specifically & evrart's general interactions with kim:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the impression i get around how evrart acts with kim is that he knows harry is more vulnerable due to his amnesia and thus an easier target, more useful to play the part he needs in his whole game. i mean he has this dead body on his hands, has already figured out how he's going to use this situation to his advantage to start a war with wild pines, and when the rcm officers come to investigate the murder one of them has literally no memories? what could be a better opportunity than that! it's also very telling how evrart immediately jumps to acting like he & harry are already such close friends, like to the point where on my first playthrough i was genuinely thinking for a bit "have we met this guy before the amnesia?". bearing that in mind it only makes sense that he would try to dismiss or ignore kim whenever possible to bring everything back around to harry. and again i feel kim very much picks up on this.
(kind of an aside but i thought it was interesting to note that if you search for all times "kitsuragi" is said by evrart, the only time he calls him "lieutenant kitsuragi" rather than "mr kitsuragi" (aside from the "you too lieutenant" above) seems to be when kim wasn't actually present:)
Tumblr media
anyways on to flip side, how kim discusses evrart:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
even before the initial meeting kim is already distrustful of him, which i mean makes sense considering evrart's reputation. kind of running out of brain juice to comment more insightfully on this side of things LOL so i'll just leave these here.

Part of that World: Part 3
A/N: So everyone remember like a week or so ago when I said I wasn’t working on this? I lied. Jokes aside, I recently got motivation to start working on this again and figured I try work on it. My big issue was I didn’t know where exactly I wanted to go with the story and while I don’t have a plan set in stone I have a brief outline of what I want to do, so without further ado, here is part 3 several months late! Oh and we actually get some g/t in this one. Felt that was deserved after the wait Enjoy!)
The next morning, despite their classes everyone was over at Theo and Henry's flat at eight a.m. They'd decided to skip the morning classes, deeming this matter much more important.
Theo hadn't peaked at the footage early this time, now knowing what to expect wanting to be in the presence of his friends to watch what the diminutive dynamic duo. His gracefully picked up Henry’s phone and tilted it in the light. His heart had been beating wildly that concluded altogether when under speculation, tiny handprints could be seen imprinted on the screen.
He needed to sit down after seeing it, the mere height difference was staggering. They were practically pixies from his game. He was reminded of the time Maiseys character was a such a creature. It was interesting then even when simply using their imaginations, to deal with the height difference. It was like deja vu, happening again only this time not with Maisey, not imagination and apparently not pixie. Oh and the boldest of differences, this was real.
Henry -who given the commotion of the last day or so- was now up as early as his roommate, coming to Theo’s side and following his gaze. It was unreal- in fact common science deemed this impossible if the square cube law was correct
Yet here before him imprinted on his screen was all the evidence to testify. He let the light bounce off his phone to see the different angles at which they had navigated his device. To think that something- or rather someone- so alien had touched this very phone was quite a lot to process.
Theo left to open the door and let the others in, Henry gave a smug glare at the door. The groups time keeping had been almost as improbable as the current circumstances. Well at least Thomas and Sadie. Maisey was always on time- yet another thing he cherished about her.
Once again, when everyone had settled down, Theo played camera three's footage. And once again, the pair came sliding out at two in the morning.
Daphne, the more eccentric of the two had come rushing out once again. There was something about her enthusiasm that made a grin magically appear. She had a lot of energy tonight, more so than the previous one he would argue. Once again her friend, Riven, was skeptical and cautious, but followed his friend all the same. He really hoped the 'phone stunt' would win him over tonight. If he could get that borrower to see they werent a threat, he may get to meet them. He didn't feel he'd have to convince Daphne awfully hard, as she always had a fondness for human creations. He was particularly excited to see her reaction the phone.
She came out with the full intention of sourcing out the camera, only to spot the phone sitting out in the open- and exclaiming wildly to Riven.
“Riven! Riven!!! Get over here!!'
Henry froze at those words, almost the exact same words Theo had said the day prior upon his discovery. Only with his name, of course. But he also noticed the other borrower was looking around in a cautious manner- no doubt he noticed the removed traps.
"Guess she saw the phone" Thomas whispered, although there was absolutely no reason to whisper. It was as if he imagined his voice could mess with the recording.
They watched the duo try gage what on Earth a phone was, and admittedly it was extremely entertaining. Daphne had done the same quick touch test with it as she had with the camera, and she was giving her poor friend a heart attack. Then they tried to figure out how to turn it on through various attempts. It was still so weird to hear them say humans, as if they werent the foreign lifeform in the matter. After a final push the screen lit, resulting in Daphne scrambling back and poor Riven almost falling off the counter- a moment that made the entire group suck in a sharp breath and tense in their seats. But in almost no time she had them back at it.
They analysed everything.
The doorway theory was a particular favourite of Theos, as if Henry's wallpaper was actually some sort of portal.
Henry found himself amused at how she believed it to be magic, along with Maisey giggling at their belief that basic medication was too a magical property.
Thomas and Sadie however took note on how the boy blushed at the girls eyes lighting up at the phone, both smirking and leaning forward with interest.
It took them long enough to get in, through deep analysis at the time and date which everyone found themselves laughing at- and then full on cracking up at their understanding of 'swipe to unlock' along with Daphnes belief that phone granted access because it liked humiliation. Henry was quiet glad he got rid of the password now, they wouldn't have had a hope with that matter.
But the moment they'd all been waiting for had arrived. The pictures. The crew waited with baited breath, hoping, praying, that this would work. So far the phone had mamaged the multiply Daphnes wonder ten fold and had even captured the positive attention of Riven. The pictures were the last piece of the puzzle to make this a success.
They both fell silent when the photo album opened, until Daphne selected a picture.
This was it!
Everyone sat up slightly, tension and hope battled in the atmosphere, as the picture lit up the screen. An image of the group after finishing their third campaign. It was a favourite amongst the group, it reflected them all in a positive light- except Henry of course but that was part of why they loved it.
But the reactions weren't what they were hoping for.
Daphne thought they were borrowers- absolutely shocked by what she was seeing.
Riven thought it was a trap that captured borrowers and all joy had left.
Daphne in her confusion grew frustrated and confused, wanting to know why they had to hide if the borrower secret was out, more so upset with her father than anything. She found herself believing Rivens frightened theory, only she wasn't frightened, just perturbed. She believed that the borrowers in the picture were living her dream life. One of normality.
Maiseys eyes saddened. When she suggested this idea she never meant to upset anyone..
But thankfully for the group, Riven was a good friend. Despite persuading her to leave she was smiling somewhat again and Thomas and Sadie were living for the drama. As they went to turn off the phone, Daphne noticed something.
She realised they werent borrowers- and that picture was off the group. She seemed more relieved that the picture was of humans than it being a trap. She sure was reckless.
She sat by the phone pondering questions, staring in awe, though it would be her next line that hooked everyone to the screen.
'I..I wish we could talk to them'
Theo was downright ecstatic, Henry felt accomplished, Sadie shared Theos reactions mixed with Thomas's pride. Maisey felt relief and happiness, her idea had worked.
But the other borrower didn’t share her view. Riven was all but jaw-dropped by the statement, it had turned him into a stuttering mess as he searched for how to word his reasons- only for the miniture girl to come in defense of the group. Describing each and every one of them
Maisey was flattered as she blushed at the compliment touched by the borrowers words.
Sadie too found herself beaming "the girl has taste" She smirked triumphantly.
Thomas was like a child on Christmas day with his analyses. She thought he was sneaky- to which he remarked that she had "no idea"
Pretty much everyone burst out at Henry's words, all except for him, who upon mention of his glasses fixed them on his face- secretly hiding his smile as he did. He supposed there was a lot worse to be called than creepy. Maybe he'd get the chance to prove her wrong.
But the party all shared a warm smile at her compliment to Theo, whose heart pretty much melted into a puddle. She was absolutely adorable, he wanted to just scoop her up through the screen. He began picturing scenario after scenario. Her in his hands, her on his shoulder, her assisting him as Dungeon Master. Oh it was all so exciting!!
Butttt Riven just had to chip in and ruin it. No..no that wasn’t fair. Theo understood. They werent supposed to be discovered after all, it was 'dangerous'.. but wasn't it clear from Daphnes words that they wouldn't harm them?
Daphne only assured him she'd never actually talk to them, and he felt himself shift a little, heart aching at opportunity being snatched up once more.
Though, Daphne clearly wanted to join him and his friends..it wasn't fair. Surely there had to be something he could do. But Riven nor his group would approve. But she would..?
The conversation finally ended, and the pair wandered off once more retreating back to their home and Henry shut off the TV.
Nobody knew exactly what to say. On one hand the phone had served its purpose. On the other it was clear neither borrowers would make themselves known.
"Is leaving notes still an option?" Theo chirped with hints of hope lingering in his voice. Everyone frowned at this, and Theo rolled his eyes slumping into the seat. He was aware on why that was a bad idea. It would most likely push them away..or at least one of them.
"OK.. so it did and didn't work. What now?" Sadie announced as if the thought was playing everyone else's mind.
"Keep watching?" Maisey suggested
"Give them more stuff to look at?" Thomas mused.
"Guys, did you not hear them? They're never gonna do it.." Sadie groaned.
"Well we can't exactly force anything. It would ruin any chance we have at talking with them" Henry replied.
Thomas groaned
"Ugh this is yesterday all over again."
Theo stayed quiet. Something that didn't go unnoticed by Henry, with a deadpan face his sighed "I know that face. What's on your mind?"
Theo flinched a little, he forgot how good Henry was at reading people.
"I- well- fine. Look, why don't we just try make contact with Daphne? I mean did you not just see how much she wants to meet us? Would it really be so bad?"
Henry sighed "It may put a rift in their friendship though Theo, and I'm sure that's something she values much more."
Sadie however seemed to lean into Theos idea
"I can't believe I'm saying this but..Theo has a point."
Theo flexed his arms exasperated "thank you Sadi- wait hey!" Sadie paid him no mind and continued
"But I don't want to be the reason if it drives them apart. In case it wasn't obvious to the rest of you, he's mad about her. I'm not sure she knows. Or if she does she doesn't seem to acknowledge it. Point is they're really close. Nevertheless, pulling them apart would be wrong. So...we confront them together"
This split everyone up
Theo agreed, Thomas was fifty fifty, Henry and Maisey didn't like it at all.
"We should flip a coin"
"These are living beings, this isn't something to flip coins over Thomas." Henry snapped.
Everyone was shouting over one another until Theo had enough he abruptly stood from the sofa over the ensuing chaos.
"OKAY OKAY. EVERYONE SHUT UP. I didn't mean to cause an argument. I shouldn't have said it. We wait one more night then. Just one more. After tonight we decide our approach. Contact or no contact. I'm sure you all know which one I prefer. But let's see how this plays out. After all, faith might have other plans".
—————————————————————
Riven couldn't stop thinking of last night. More so Daphne, and how certain she was at the idea of meeting the humans. He lost a good chunk of sleep over it, and his sleeping pattern was messed up enough from their adventures. The more he thought on it the stranger everything seemed to be. The traps. The box. The object from last night. It was all connected, he knew that much..but he didn't understand how.
All throughout his shift he lamented of sleep and conspiracies- at least that was what he was thinking off. He noticed the Chief- more so Daphnes Father- storming past him, as he did, the man glared daggers into him and stomped in the opposite direction of his home. Riven watched as he approached Barney inviting him to join his side. They spoke, though from his position Riven had no clue on what it could possibly be about. Daphnes father was infuriated, Barney looked rather smug. The chiefs dislike of him was nothing new, as well as his appraisal of that rodent Barney- but something seemed off. He longed to ask his friend about it, but he was well aware of the trouble he'd cause if he left his post-so he'd be sure to ask later.
Daphne was furious. After an hour in to her post, her father pulled her aside for a 'talk'. What may sound like a pleasant conversation was anything but. Whenever her father wanted to 'talk' it meant nothing good. Nothing good at all. Begrudgingly she followed suit, as the pair traversed through the colony into the woods, though it was more her following behind him like some obedient creature.
Her father remained silent and she gulped. That couldn't be good.
"Don't you have anything to say?"
Uh oh.
"Um..lovely weather we're having?"
His glare was so sharp she was sure it cut into her.
"You left the colony last night."
Daphne stopped walking feeling her heart stop.
"No, I was at home, repairing some clothes. Where'd you get that from?"
At this he turned to face her, something she didn’t appreciated as his eye contact was not something she found herself able to hold. He looked perfectly enraged.
"A report from Senon was that you were seen entering the border at sunrise. So don’t play coy with me”
Daphne internally cursed- she knew she should've gone the other way- of course Senon would rat her out, he was one of Barney's right hand men. In her defence she had checked for wandering eyes but none were found. Of course Senon had found some way to spy on her. But at least Rive-
"With that boy."
She shut her eyes and huffed out a sign of frustration at her karma. She’d get Barney for this. And that weasel of a spy. For now she needed to sort this, for Rivens sake. He risked enough for her.
"Father I-"
"How many times?"
"I'm- I'm sorry?"
"How many times have I told you no?"
"I can ex-"
"How many times?"
His voice was eerily low, and part of her wished that he would just scream and scratch this suffocating tension. But her father wasn't the type. She swallows her frustration and continued
"Many- but I"
"Precisely"
He laughed dryly but even to an unknown ear one could tell he was far from happy. He'd continue soon enough though, he just happened to appreciate the art of dramatic pauses. Daphne remained silent.
"And yet you still left!"
There it is
"Part of me believes this isn't your first offence either, is it?"
Her face had burned red, and her lips parting as she tried to finally fathom words, for Rivens sake.
“I’ve left before but only to see more of what the forest had to offer! With the colony growing bigger I thought.. it doesn’t matter. I’m sorry. But Riven did no wrong. I made him come with me last night… for..for protection as despite what you feel he is a dear friend of mine. He could hardly disobey the daughter of the chief right?.. b-but the entire time he talked against such actions and tried to persuade me to go back!”
Her father’s brows furrowed even further, his cheeks blooming a rosy hue. She’d really done it now.
“He does not take orders from you but me. You may be my daughter but you do not hold such power. Now you listen here. This is never to happen again. And you stay away from that boy- or I'll have him pay the consequences. Are we clear?"
Her eyes widened at the thought of the harm her father could cause Riven, sickening imagery infecting her mind. She wanted to curse to him at how valiant Riven was and how he was twice the man than anyone in the damn colony. But that would make matters worse. For now she was just relieved she’d gotten the blame off of her only ally.
"Yes, father."
Her father huffed at this.
"And If you want protection, you come to me. I will assign you a guard. No matter how many times I ensured you that leaving this colony was out of the question you went anyways. Now if you won't listen I'll make you listen, through punishing that boy. You stay away and you stay put. It’s time you grow up. You're eighteenth nameday passed over eleven moons ago. It is time you contribute to our colony and this family. It is time we find you a suitor, and you continue our legacy and lineage."
There was so much to comprehend from what he had just said and she felt like vomiting. Her father wanted her to marry and bare children? She was still a child herself. There was so much left to do she wasn't ready to settle! She never wanted to in the first place! She was made to explore and see more of what this world had in store not become some maiden. There was nothing wrong with such aspirations- but they weren’t hers!
"Father please, I- I'm not ready for such duties. I contribute already through the Scouts. A-and I know I've said it before but I could do so much more if you just let me borrow-"
His pupils seemed to shrink and his voice raised to a rough command.
"Listen here and listen well. I've already lost your mother. I will not loose you too. You will never be a borrower and that is for your own safety! Why don’t you understand that? I only want what’s best for you. I only want to keep you safe. Enough with this borrowing business is that clear?!"
Adding insult to injury she shook her head slowly. She’d never win. In times like these loathed not being born a man. Her father would never treat a boy this way. She seen that much through Barney.
"Good. Return to your post at once. Or need I get a guard to assist you?"
She wanted to snarl, to scream, to cry out. But it would get her nowhere, and would only earn her an unwanted chaperone like that of a child. So she nodded solemnly, turned and walked away.
As she headed back she lost herself in her thoughts. She couldn't go back to the human home now. Well, not with Riven anyways. And his support, though hesitant at times could be essential. And now with a marriage in line, her father would now have guards on her at all times- namely Barney.
Part of her had a gut wrenching worry that it was Barney who he had in mind, she'd worried it from the start. But Barney was just a guard. She knew she'd most likely be married to a son of a council member. And the idea both disgusted and relieved her.
She was unbelievably pent up. She couldn't go to Riven- she couldn’t risk his punishment. She’d find a way to write to him, explain the situation and delve some sort of plan. Suns, how could she simply go back scouting after all this?
Daphne was angry. Now she had been angry the night before, but that was an uncertain mix with confusion and sadness intertwined, possibly a hint of betrayal. But this anger was raw- and for her optimistic self, quite rare.
And when anger like this came upon her, she tended to do stupid things.
She wasn’t weak. She wasn’t stupid. Yes her decision making wasn’t as agile but that didn’t affect her smarts. If her father was never going to let her do anything then perhaps it was time to show him how good of a borrower she could be. She’d bring back such finds a borrower couldn’t dream off. And to keep Riven safe she’d.. she would have to go alone. She wilted at this, but images of life filled with boredom and childcare filled her mind, and the only thing to do was run away from that possibility. It was time to borrow.
Riven had always trusted his gut instincts. And after her fathers venomous gaze and Barney's vulgar smugness he knew something was wrong with his friend. He didn't have very much time left on duty, the sun's position telling him it was around high noon. It could be really difficult to tell the time on cloudy days when one couldn't access the sun, but today was one of the sunniest summer had offered thus far and while the heat was intense to a borrower, he was just thankful for a speculation of when he finished at this mind numbingly boring post. Although he'd never say it out loud he envied humans for their measurements of seconds, minutes, hours, the whole package. He could admit that understanding the clock in that kitchen would be a helpful endeavour.
His partner today (Wren? He was almost sure that was her name anyways) had stretched, announced they were done and headed off to the makeshift food area.
But Riven turned the opposite way. He needed to find Daphne, he needed to make sure he was okay. Put an end to these stupid gut feelings that taunted him. Ensure she was safe.
He was so distracted on sourcing out Daphnes post, he hadn't even heard a voice behind him.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Riven came to a sudden halt, his fight or flight instincts always kicked in at that voice- and they always assumed the fighting aspect.
Barney.
Though it seems today that he had reacted a tad bit too late, as by the time he turned around two figures siezed him- one kicking in his legs to buckle his knees, the other adding a foot into his stomach that made nausea spew with the pain.
Unable to avoid it he collapsed to the ground with a grunt, and Barney hunched down before him.
"Told you I'd deal with you later, didn't I?"
He shoved his face into the muck, erupting a sharpness in his head.
"Restrain him. Chief did say this was a punishment after all"
Rivens eyes widened at this. Punishment? What for? And more importantly where was Daphne?
—————————————————————
Daphne had never been here during the day. And she'd never been alone. A pang spread through her chest that Riven wasn't by her side today. She knew he'd worry if he was aware she came here alone. But Daphne so badly needed to clear her head and so after her long venture to the building and in through the walls, she had arrived at the tile. This was the same tile she always came rushing through today- but as of now she was in no mood at all to rush anything. She had never been caught before, the pair had always been more than careful. She just couldn't convert that to her father but she would soon enough. She would show him there was so much more to her than 'continuing a legacy'.
She softly pulled back the tile and stepped out.
Her senses were almost overwhelmed at the site. The kitchen looked so lively in the daylight. There was signs of activity too, giant cups, (or mugs? What was the right word? Why did humans need two words for there liquid containers?) their was a wift of something strong in the air coming from inside the cups but she couldn't describe what- not only that but there were five of them. Suns how much did humans drink? Surely only one lived here right? Was this amount normal?
She noticed things the moonlight seemed to neglect, like plants sitting on the opposite side of the room. She felt a growing urge to go explore them, her earlier anger dissipated away like clouds in a sun filled sky.
Here she stood out on the counter. The sake way she had many times before, a newfound bravery washing over her. She was finally going to borrow. What was the point in being called a borrower after all, if one could not do such a thing?
The clock still ticked on, but the kitchen didn't sound as empty- partially due to the vented window that granted access to bird song. Bird song that otherwise distracted her from other sounds.
It was then that Daphne remembered in her calmer mind frame, about that strange box she was determined to dissect.
Only when she turned to look at it, it wasn't there. She felt a little disheartened at this, having been so enthralled with it the past two days. Yesterday on the way home she vowed she'd uncover its secrets tonight, but that wouldn't be the case now.
She walked along the counter top, feeling as if she'd forgot something or a part of her was missing without her usual company. She wasn't a fan of this feeling.
She never gone this far in either, having passed the profound trench of the sink. She always found that word funny since she had learned of it, it felt fitting. The water would sink down bellow into a mysterious hole, she'd love to know where it would go. Or where it came from for starters. Borrowers got their water naturally, heating up with fire from small candles (another obsession she used to have, she found fire fascinating. At the age of ten when she had tried to touch it, it had no been friendly or welcoming, leaving a long mark that still scarred the majority of her left arm today. Not to mention, during this era, she'd almost set the colony afire..four times.) She wondered if humans did too.
Now she was passing a large glassy plane- not unlike the object from the previous night. It had four wide circles drawn on it, and near the edge of the counter, strange little details with words on images lay waiting command.
She was about to go over and methodically fiddle with these off triggers- when she noticed just up ahead.
Another box.
Or maybe the same one?
She didn't care. She was going to figure it out. Yes. She'd figure it out and then find something to take back home with her. Or perhaps take this home?
She dashed over, feeling a sudden rush spread throughout her. This is what she was made for. And even though it was hard to ignore to emptiness with her confidante, this felt right.
She stopped just before it once more, dropping to her knees. The red light was gone, which struck her as odd. That red dot was always blinking? Though thinking on it she'd never inspected the back of these boxes. Maybe there would be an answer there?
And so she did, there was a few notable indents, some writing- a new odd word. She tested it on her tongue
"C-came-ra? Cam-erah? Huh? Is that what you are? However you say it.."
Then she noticed another weird circle- what was it with humans and their constant circles?- but similar to the lines on the object last night, it too jutted out. Remember how she- or rather they- had dealt with that, and so she pressed against it.
She hurried back over to the front with anticipation- and to her delight it had returned! She squealed and gave a quick clap of victory, proud of herself.
She tilted her head and scratched her head.
"So..what do you do? Clearly your strange light does something..but what?"
It was then Daphne heard the door open followed by a thunderous voice. She felt her heart drop into her stomach. And eyes widen at a revelation.
Humans.
She was given no time to process this unwelcoming intrusion as through the door walked an impossibly tall lurking giant. He had dark hair, dark eyes and strange circles on his face. It was the grumpy human she'd seen yesterday!
Realising her position she instantly scrambled for cover- her only shelter being the camera. She curled up into the smallest ball she could muster and sue held her breath. He heart was hammering like that of a hummingbird.
She had always wanted to meet a human. But out of that group this was the last one she wished to meet. And she never expected to be this scared. Her form was trembling, so much so she worried he'd hear her quivers. She longed for Rivens reassurance, and with him in mind she felt a small tug of determination. Covering her mouth with one hand and holding her heart with another and sat, and she waited.
Henry entered the kitchen, everyone had been long gone since this morning. Theo was in his room preparing to leave for his late lecture. Henry felt quite fortunate he didn't need to leave for another hour. He decided to ask Maisey if she'd be finsihed before then so he could leave with Theo and meet up with her for a bite to eat.
He had at least, until he remembered the state of the kitchen.
Fair, it wasn't overly messy, but nobody had bothered to clean up their mugs and cups from this morning! Along with Theo leaving out the bread after his toast. He'd be sure to berate him for that later.
He collected the coffee mugs and empty tea cups in his hand holding all by the handle and made his way over to the dishwasher to deposit them. He bent down and placed each one in and once done he looked up to turn and grab the bread- only to notice the light blinking on Theos second camera. He gave an irritated growl.
"And he'd be the very one complaining that it ran out of battery. Theo!! Stop leaving your damn cameras on!!"
Daphne wondered at that moment how well a humans ears worked. She'd never been this close to one- nor even seen one. But she prayed their ears lacked in sense for what they made in size when she gave a contorted muffled squeak as he gained proximity. This boy was absolutely massive and he had no right to be that tall- he looked far too tall- even for human standards, which was saying something to be sure! He was just a little bit off from crouching to get through the door.
And now he was standing over her. Right over her! Even as he whispered under his breath, it still muffled throughout her, his yells to his fellow human even more so, reverberating every bone in her mere body.
She could hear Riven in her head, berating her with how he knew this would happen, only to recall all the continuous times he had warned her to be careful. She'd always heeded those warnings in her own way. All but today. And if she didn't act fast, the reason for those warnings would happen to her. She'd be caught.
But where to go?! The human currently loomed over the counter top, his face caught in a web of perplexed intensity, as if thinking through his every own choices. Whatever could he be thinking about? It was clearly something to do with this box- no..this camera- but what? It was eating her up inside and she began to entertain the thought of how his face would look if he spotted her. Would it contort and twist, into one of anger or disgust? Would it light up like the candle lights she had once been so attached to? Would his eyes buldge trying to comprehend what he couldn't possibly understand?
She shook her head briskly, she couldn't think like that! Not now anyways! She needed an exit. An escape. Shelter of any forgiving object that welcomed their endearing shadows to hide in. Then when the coast was clear once more she’d grab something worthy and go.
From down the hall Henry heard Theo zipping up his bag and watched clearly unamused as he strolled on in obliviously to grab his toast- which had mysteriously disappeared
"Heyyy” he drawled “I wasn't done"
Henry glared and pointed to the camera
"Did you hear me?"
Theo rolled his eyes and dramatically sauntered over raising a brow.
"Hear what exactly?"
Henry could choke him but he persisted. He gave a short sigh that paired well with his shortened temper.
"Stop leaving the cameras on in the day time."
Theo scoffed, clearly taken a back by this and was reflexive to defend himself
"Um no? I turned it off this-" His eyes met the device. The blinking light however, said otherwise, making his brows furrow in confusion..odd. No, no he swore he had turned it off- no he knew he turned it off. Yet here it sat blinking to itself and capturing this very conversation.
He snatched it up to double check, almost hitting the tiny girl that had been hiding behind- his breath hitched. His eyes widened and instantly done a double take.
It..It was her.
To his side, Henry huffed watching Theos attention divert, pulling aside from the problem at hand as per usual, ready to snap at his roommate but he followed his gaze, and with an audible gasp the perfect Henry almost stumbled in disbelief, his glasses tilting out of place from the commotion.
Far above Daphne, two giant boys stared down at her, and the only sound was the haunting tick from the clock on the wall. Aside from her pacing heartbeat all was still, in such motion she recognised them. Both were from the strange device. This was their home then. She caught herself before she could pondering further. She had been caught. Caught.
According to the stories she'd been fed growing up, this was a death sentence. And she didn't intend on paying it.
With adrenaline now pumping through her veins she decided not to purge anymore precious time, breaking out into a mad sprint. She wouldn't make it to the tile, not from here, but she could make it to the window!!
It seemed her actions had eluded some sort of wakeup call, and as it washed over the towering beings behind her mayhem ensued.
The smaller of the duo cried out to her, his voice deafeningly loud and desperate. Had she not been running she'd have covered her ears and their aggravating ringing.
The window was in sight, and blessed was she that it had been open an inch or so. That was all she needed anyways!
But as if his first plea hadn't been enough, on came seconds
"WAIT!!"
The windowsill before her vanished from view so rapidly she'd sworn she'd gotten whiplash and in its stead slammed down a harrowing wall of warm flesh. Left. Right. All exits were blocked. She let loose a cry as the other giant snapped.
"THEO!" Henry snarled
Theo gasped at what he had just down, as the pitiful Daphne scrambled away from the hand falling onto her backside.
She turned around so suddenly, her face red and full of fear. Theos heart dropped instantaneously. He scared her. Guilt singed and he was sputtering out unprocessed words.
"Gahh! I- I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to I-"
The girl was a shivering mess- a contrast to her usual excited self. God. He did this. This wasn't right. She wasn't right.
Her eyes met his and he felt himself freeze. The world was still once more and for the one moment it was just him, and this unexplainably miniture girl caught between avoiding him or his twitching hand caving her in. Catching this he retracted his hand, a little too fast for current events. She was breathing so quick, too quick. He'd almost given the poor thing a fully blown panic attack- nevermind a heart attack. Henry's backhand met his head
"What were you thinking!?" His roommate hissed. "Are you trying to scare her to death?!"
Henry's infuriated eyes left Theo and took in the uncanny sight before him, and done his best to soften his shock filled gaze. Bur hiding shock at a time like this was impossible. Still, she was shivering.. and he doubted looming over the girl was helping, intentional or not.
He sucked in a small breath and bent down on his knees to make his bumbling height less imposing on her, with Theo instantly following suit and dropping to the ground by his side. Henry drank in her fidgeting features, seemingly unaware of how his critical analysis unnerved every bone in her body worse than his looming. He transcribed his words thoughtfully in his head before speaking.
"I..I do apologise for all that commotion, my friend here doesn't tend to think before he acts" he shot a quick gaze to Theo who looked a mix regretful, floored and encapsulated. He continued softly, trying to assure her. He had to get her to calm down.
"It's going to be okay. I promise you're safe. We won't hurt you"
When the girl said nothing, he tried another approach, attempting to soften his voice even further.
"My name is Henry.."
Theo perked up at this, shaking his head to get his thoughts straight. How could he have forgotten introductions? He'd be smacking himself later for majority of his actions thus far but more so for his lack of manners.
"I-I'm Theon but I go by Theo-.. I'm so so sorry, I really didn't mean to scare you I just-..well.." He hung his head in a solemn shame "what he said."
Daphne was a shell of her former self. She longed for this moment. Dreamed of it.
But now that it was happening she couldn't comprehend it.
And so she collapsed.

Foliè ~ Chapter 5
(Chapter 1, chapter 2, Chapter 3, chapter 4)
The Curse
The world fell silent as the now dead man lay at my feet. My breathing was so loud that it even pushed the woman's voice into the background. I had killed someone. I wanted to scream again, but I couldn't find the strength. I fell to the floor, just as my tears rolled down my cheeks. I tried to force my shaking fingers to clutch the handle of the dagger, to pull it out, but my muscles wouldn't listen. I sat next to him and looked at his lifeless face, my thoughts plagued with guilt, when suddenly he tore his eyes open with a loud intake of breath. I shrieked and fell backwards. What the fuck? As if he'd been replaced, his gray-green eyes turned dark and lifeless again. His dark hair turned back to blond and became sickly. His skin lost its shine. With a grunt, he yanked the dagger from his stomach and straightened up. “Shit, I always forget how much it hurts.” His eyes met mine. He smiled. “So, did you like my little demonstration?”
“Let him feel your anger. I know you'd love to.”
As much as I wanted to, I hadn't sunk to the point of taking my frustration out on someone else.
“I know you want to. I'm in your thoughts, I'm your thoughts”
She was wrong. My thoughts were mine, my feelings were mine. She was just an insect that had nested in my mind. I just had to find a way to kill this insect and then I would be free. “Say, are you all right? You're kind of staring past me, which is very creepy.” My eyes twitched to the now living man in front of me. One thing was true, I was angry, furious, with him. “You're a fucking heartless asshole.” I pressed through my teeth. For a second he looked shocked, but he covered it up with a stupid joke. “Are you flirting with me?” I felt an eyebrow twitch, but I held back.
“Do it. Let out your frustration.”
I shook my head and stood up. I'd had enough. The whine of the machine's alarm could still be heard in the background, and if they had seen me, it didn't take long for them to put the puzzle together. “I don't have time or desire to play games with you. I don't give a shit about what's wrong with you, but one thing is for sure, it is not and will not be my problem, I have my own baggage to carry. If you wanted to tell me, you missed your chance with that fucking show you put on.” I didn't even wait to decipher the chaos of emotions flitting through his dead eyes. I turned away, but he grabbed me painfully hard by the ankle. “Don't…don't go.”
“This is a show, don't think for a second he's serious. This is the punishment I gave him, for succumbing to madness before I arrived.”
“I've been alone for so long… please don't go.” Something stirred inside me, making me pause for a moment. The woman's words and the man's begging made me feel guilty for some reason, but I pushed that feeling aside. He continued to speak, this time accusingly. “Do you know how difficult it is to be accepted anywhere with the way I look? No one wants to be around someone who looks like someone recently murdered them.” he snarled now. “Why do you even look like that?” slipped out of me. Silence surrounded us as these words escaped my mouth. Why had I asked that? Why was I interested in what was going on with this stranger? “You really want to know?”
“No.”
“Yes.”
He smiled and for the first time it looked like a genuine smile. I felt something in my chest again, a thumping, something warm coursing through my body, but I ignored it. “This is the first time I've ever told anyone about this,” he said quietly. “How should I start?” he mumbled. I rolled my eyes and glanced briefly over his shoulders. The city could be seen in the distance, thick clouds of smoke rising from the machine and seeming to engulf everything. I heard sirens, screams. At some point they would have to question my group and they would explain that they had last seen me there and then I could only start praying that they would give me a painless death if they caught me. I turned away again and looked into the man's dead eyes. “Speak,” I said, and he did. “I have been cursed to wear the face of the man whose life I took.”

Give a Little - Chapter 3 - Finders Fee
You can also find me on A03: Give a Little - Chapter 3 - MeDonks - Baldur's Gate (Video Games) [Archive of Our Own]
18+, eventual smut, lots of angst, slow burn romance.
After finishing supper alone in her room, Edith changed into a nightshirt before crawling under the covers, journal in hand. The only light in the room was from a lone candle on the bedside table, where it created an island of dim light over her bed.
She had just finished writing a verse in her journal when she mumbled to herself in irritation and crossed out the whole thing. She continued trying to work out the words, whispering them quietly to herself, but no matter how she changed a word here or tweaked the cadence there, she just couldn't make it work.
Frustrated, she tossed the journal aside, where it came to a rest precariously balanced on the edge of her bed. Grunting in annoyance, she kicked her foot into the mattress hard enough to jostle the journal, causing it to tumble over the edge to land with a sharp slap on the floor.
I should just go to sleep. Let this day be over with.
A soft rapping at her door made her freeze and hold her breath. She knew that knock.
Shit. I’m not ready to face him yet.
She lay still hoping he might think she was asleep and leave, but the knock came again, this time a little louder followed by Astarion's voice, “Edith, can we talk?”
Heart starting to race, she felt a wave of anxiety swell within her. She slowly sat up and crossed her legs beneath her while staring at the closed door. Why hadn’t she thought to lock it before she got into bed?
Because I hoped he would come.
His voice called out to her again, “I know you’re awake”
Not moving, she gathered the blankets up in her hands and hugged them to her chest like a child would to keep the monster under the bed at bay.
Faintly, she heard a single muffled word plead through the door, “Please?”
A few more heartbeats passed before she finally called out, “It’s unlocked.”
For a long moment, nothing happened.
Maybe he hadn’t heard her? Or maybe he had already left when she called back. Maybe he hadn't even been there at all and it was her mind playing tricks on her.
She saw the lever slowly turn and the latch released with a soft click. The door slowly swung open, hinges letting out a thin squeal, to reveal Astarion standing just outside the doorway.
The expression he wore on his face was not what she expected to see. It looked as if he was apprehensive and self conscious. The latter of which she had never seen grace the high elf’s face.
Still standing just outside, Astarion looked down to the floor, his mouth twisting in discomfort as he defeatedly asked, “May I come in?”
She blinked once at him in confusion before realizing that he had never been inside her room before. She had always gone to him when it was time for him to feed.
When she had called out to him, all she had done was inform him that the door was unlocked, which was not an invitation. Without it, he could not enter.
Guilt tugged at her heart as she realized that she had put him in the position where he had to ask. A reminder of another freedom he had lost.
“Please, come in, Astarion.”
He carefully stepped across the threshold into her room, and uneasily swung the door closed with a soft click before turning to face her. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other in uncertainty while fidgeting with something that he held in his hands.
Curiosity getting the better of her, she asked, “What do you have there?”
Astarion looked back up to her and hefted the object in his hand, as if testing its weight and said, “You left this when you…” He trailed off, not finishing the sentence as he took a step towards her lifting the item out towards her.
Another wave of guilt washed over her as she realized it was the kerchief he had given her – She left it behind when she fled his room earlier.
“I appreciate the thought you put into it. It’s lovely,” she said while holding her hand out for him to bring it to her.
Relief flickered across his face and he crossed the room to place the kerchief with a flourish and a bow into her waiting palm.
She held it up to look it over again. The stitches were precise and flowed gracefully as they formed her initials and she rubbed her finger over the two spots of blood that had dried and turned a dark brown against the milky white of the cloth.
When she looked back up she found that he was watching her, brows knit together, and mouth set in a hard line. It looked as if he was considering asking her a question.
Instead of a question, he made a measured observation, “I didn't see you with the others this evening.”
So he’s playing it safe then. I can work with that.
“I was tired after my set, so I turned in early,” she said, shrugging with one shoulder and set the embroidered cloth down on her night stand. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the full truth. “Took some time to work on my music.”
His eyes narrowed as he studied her face, expression contemplative, as if he was trying to make a decision about something. “Shadowheart and Gale were having an argument – practically at each others throats. You wouldn't happen to know what that might have been about, would you?”
You Bitch. We were playing it safe.
His crimson eyes burned into hers as he watched for any reaction and indignation flared up within her. She used it as fuel to challenge his gaze with her own.
“I know they went to the market this afternoon. Maybe something happened while they were out shopping?”
Another half truth.
A muscle in his jaw twitched and his eyes flared with amusement. They both knew that it wasn't enough to deter him from pressing her further.
“I overheard Gale mention something. Hmm. What was it now?” He pondered out loud while tapping a finger on his chin as he mimed being deep in thought. “Oh,” he grinned, eyes gleaming. “Was it something about restoration scrolls?”
Dammit Gale! If you told him…
Her heart started to thrum forcefully inside her chest. Not wanting him to know how close he was to cornering her she steeled her nerves in an effort to keep her expression as neutral as possible.
“Shadowheart wants Gale to make some restoration scrolls for me. That way she doesn't have to worry about being here when I need it,” She gave him a pointed look, “If you weren’t so intent on being surly, they might have been more inclined to help.”
She had hoped that her bluntness would cause him to falter, giving her the upper hand, but he just threw his head back letting out a sharp laugh.
“Darling, with the way those bootlickers fall all over themselves to fulfill your every wish, you will have more scrolls than you know what to do with before the week is out,” he mocked, deflecting her admonishment.
“Well if I had a choice, I’d obviously prefer to be fawned over than manipulated,” Edith snapped back at him.
The smile dropped from his face as he flinched at the sharpness of her words. He clearly understood the accusation.
For once she had managed to get the last word, yet it wasn't nearly as satisfying as she had thought it might be. Instead, she found that getting the last word made her feel spiteful.
With a deep sigh, he sank down to sit on the edge of her bed. “I suppose I wasn't a very good friend today,” he said while focusing on his hands, unable to meet her eye.
“Astarion, you don’t – ” she abruptly stops, realizing that she had started to reach out to him.
The movement drew Astarions attention to her hand where it hovered in the air between them before she let it drop back to the bed.
“I’m just as much to blame for what happened today,” Edith finally spoke softly. “I know how you get, especially when you haven’t fed for a while, and even more so right aft–”
“Darling, Do I need to remind you that it was you who seduced me this afternoon and not the other way around? Bloodlust had nothing to do with it,” Astarion cut her off smugly, flashing an overly pleased grin at her.
“Astarion, I’m being serious,” she said in exasperation as her cheeks turned pink. “What I’m trying to say is that I would appreciate it if you would at least try to not toy with my feelings.”
He reached over and collected her hand from where it still lay on the bed between them. “I distinctly recall having to play with a certain feeling of my own, alone, after you left so abruptly. How is that not the same?”
“How can you say that as if you haven't been taking every opportunity to remind me how easy it was for you to seduce me,” she pulled her hand from his grasp and shot him an offended look.
A moment went by while Astarion eyed her. “I see. Well then, If that's how you feel…” he trailed off as his eyes glazed over with a haunted look.
I’ve gone about this all wrong.
Her feelings were one thing, but to accuse him of being the monster he believed that Cazador had made him to be, filled Edith with immense remorse.
I’m the monster here, not him.
“Astarion, –”
He raised a hand silencing her as he sat up straighter, “No, You are right. I have been taking liberties with you, and that is not something a friend should do. Not when you have selflessly given so much of yourself to me. I’m indebted to you”
When he went as if to stand, Edith stopped him with a light touch on his arm. It was such a delicate thing, but he froze as if she had cast Hold Person on him. Pushing the pile of blankets from her lap she crawled across the bed to sit facing him.
“You owe me nothing.” She waited until he turned to face her before continuing. “Do you hear me? What I give to you, is given free of any tally or expectation. You are not beholden to anyone, myself least of all.”
She held his gaze until the shadow of torment began to fade from his eyes, before she rose up on her knees to pull him into a hug. Without hesitation, his arms wrapped around her waist and his head came to rest on her shoulder, the tip of his nose brushing her neck.
Neither moved from the embrace for a long moment but the bubble of peace was finally interrupted by the sound of Astarion’s sigh – followed by a gust of air flowing down Edith's night shirt.
“You are an absolute menace!” She pushed him away. “I do know that you have no need to breathe, you know.” She said, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she suppressed a smile.
“What? I figured that I shouldn't be the only one enjoying myself, so I thought I’d give you a little something in return. Besides, I had quite the view and I like hearing how it makes your heart flutter,” he said coquettishly.
“How selfless of you,” she said dryly “But in all seriousness, please – just – It wasn't easy for me to close that door with you the first time, and I can't have you coming and going as you please,” she said cryptically, giving him a guarded look.
“Who says I want to leave?” He asked feigning ignorance.
The sly smile on his face told her that he knew exactly what she meant, but he wanted her to say it. Spell it out.
He has me cornered, like a cat with a mouse.
“You know what I mean, Astarion.”
“Can’t say that I do. Please enlighten me,” he said, giving her the same predatory expression for the second time that day.
“Please don't do this Astarion.”
I can’t say it. If I do, there will be no going back and –
An idea came to her. It had worked earlier with Gale, maybe it would with Astarion too…
“I was thinking…” she said, sliding him a hesitant look to draw him in.
His smile broadened as he anticipated her words, “I’m all pointy ears.”
“I was thinking that you might benefit from feeding more. Maybe twice a week instead of just once?”
She watched as his expression morphed through several emotions as he processed her words– confusion, surprise and then finally settling on delight.
“You know, just to give it a try, and – well – only if I can get Gale to agree to making the restoration scrolls for me.” Edith quickly added before he could say anything.
At the mention of the restoration scrolls, he broke out into a beaming smile and Edith realized that even when she managed to escape one of his traps, she had inadvertently fallen into another.
At least this is one I can handle the consequences of.
I hope.
“So you did know what they were on about! Aren't you a cheeky little pup,” he purred.
Bracing herself, knowing that in the height of his perceived victory over her, he would now be launching into another spree of excessive flattery. She crossed her arm in front of her chest and fixed him with an irked glare.
Not easily deterred, he leaned in towards her saying, “I wonder what I could have possibly done for you to offer even more of yourself to me.”
I’d let you do anything you wanted with me.
No! Edie, get your shit together!
She scooted back on the bed, to put some distance between them before she did something impulsive.
Instead, Astarion followed her, leaning on his hands and scooting towards her.
Then something pulled his attention away – on the ground near his feet. He reached down to pick it up, and when he sat back up, she saw what he held – her journal.
“No. No!” She lunged at him gasping.
He was too quick for her though. Lifting it over his head in the hand opposite from her, he peered up to spy the titles of her songs – flipping one-handedly through its pages.
She had landed in a heap on his lap and she scrambled to right herself as she reached for the notebook. Despite her desperate attempts, it was beyond her reach.
“All of Me? Hmm I wonder what this one is about? Give a Little. Why not a lot? Or this one...” he read out loud, voice sounding tantalized. “I Went to Far. Oh now that one sounds very intriguing. Let's have a look shall we?” he said, looking down at her.
Eyes wide with panic, she climbed higher on to his lap to reach the journal, trying to snatch it away before he could see any more. “Please don’t. Astarion no! Give that to me. Don’t read that. It’s private. Please!” she pleaded in distress.
Ignoring her while dodging her fruitless attempts to retrieve it, he began reading lines of the song. “Begging on my knees? Hold your arms around me? Give me some love. Blood was a taste of bittersweet?” He looked back to her saying, “Darling, if this is what you have been wanting, all you have to do is ask. Although, if you really want to do it while on your knees, I could certainly be persuaded to indulge you.”
As he began to read aloud the words she had written that evening, she froze, eyes going wide in horror. At some point in her struggles to reclaim the book, she found herself straddling his lap. She wasn't certain if it was to keep her from falling or fleeing but he had wrapped an arm around her waist to place a firm hand on her lower back – keeping her in place.
Feeling as if she had been stripped bare before him, he continued. All the songs she had written – most of which were about him, would let him know just how much she had been pining for him.
“It looks like that was the most recent entry too. When was this one written? Hmm?” He asked, giving her a knowing wink.
“Just stop. Please,” she said weakly.
“Oh alright. I’ll keep my eyes to myself. However, there is this small matter of a thing called a finders fee if you want it back,” he said looking pleased with himself.
He knows that I’m so close to caving. What does he want from me?
“Astarion, I don’t think –” She was interrupted when he pulled her fully into him making her gasp at the shock of their bodies suddenly fitting flush together.
His hand then dropped to grab ahold of her ass as he rolled his hips beneath her. The burning desire that had been extinguished earlier in the day came roaring back to life in an instant when she felt his increasingly firm arousal pressing against her core.
Oh Gods. I can’t let myself fall for this twice in the same day.
The tips of his cool fingers pressed into her skin like claws just beyond where the fabric of her underwear ended, and flesh began. Realizing that she was only wearing a nightshirt and underwear, he raised an eyebrow at her.
“I don’t recall this being what you wore to bed when we were together. So many layers, but this…” He trailed off while trailing his fingertips along the skin of her back, under her nightshirt, “This is nice”
The tickle of his touch triggered her back to arch, which in turn caused her to involuntary grind against his lap drawing an approving hum from Astarion.
Breath catching in her throat, she froze.
Please give it to me. She thought, but she wasn't even sure if it was the journal she wanted, or him.
Can't it be both?
Astarion looked at her inquiringly, raising an eyebrow while he wiggled the journal he still held aloft in his hand.
She reached up for the journal, but it was still well outside of her reach while he held her against him and she felt his hardness shift against her core again.
“I still haven't received payment, Darling,” he tutted at her.
“You’re a god's damned fiend, Astarion,” she said through gritted teeth.
He chuckled at her insult, and lowered his face towards hers. She closed her eyes in anticipation of his lips finding hers, but when they never came she slowly opened them to see that he had stopped just an inch away.
He was waiting. Watching her. When he saw her eyes open he smiled with the knowledge that she had wanted him to kiss her.
“I know you are capable of figuring something out,” he purred and she felt him flex beneath her.
Edith closed her eyes as he pulsed against her, resisting the urge of her body's yearning to respond. Opening her eyes, she met his gaze again, her breath growing deeper as she continued to deny her growing desire.
I’m weak.
Spineless.
Easy.
Selfish.
“Fuck you,” she snarled at him before grabing him by the face with both hands to roughly kiss him while simultaneously grinding herself down into his lap with all the force she could muster.
Dropping the book to the bed, he wrapped both arms around her, and set the rhythm for their bodies moving together. Taking her hands from his face she encircled her arms around his neck and embraced his head, pressing him into her with a needy desperation.
Without warning, he turned and pressed her into the soft mattress, his full weight on top of her. She let out a whimper as the air rushed out of her lungs and her legs wrapped around his hips, accepting his presence between them.
Lifting himself up onto one elbow he slipped his other hand under her hips to bring her somehow even closer, causing Edith to writhe against him.
He then began to tease at her underwear, slowly working them down over her hips and then to her thighs. Once they reached her knees, she kicked at them before they dropped the final distance to the floor at the foot of the bed.
Now sitting back on his knees between her legs, Astarion’s eyes hungrily took in the view of her sex. She held her breath as she watched him give her slippery folds a stroke drawing a moan from her as her eyes fluttered closed.
As he massaged in little teasing circles around her clit with one hand, he took the hem of her nightshirt in the other to bunch the fabric under her chin revealing her breasts where he softly brushed across a nipple causing it to harden. When she opened her eyes, he was leaning down to take the pointed tip in his mouth.
She went rigid when she saw the look on his face.
His eyes were dark and distant and they were staring right through her.
Miles away.
Shame and rage filled her in unison.
She snapped her legs closed, trapping his wrist between her thighs and quickly pulled him away from her breast to look into his eyes. “Astarion, we don’t have to do this. You don’t have to do this," she spoke between deep breaths as she tried to reign in her arousal, pushing it away in disgust.
He sat up and moved back off the bed to stand, still facing her, eyes darting around the room as a storm raged in his mind. She scrambled up to her knees and reached out to place a comforting hand on his arm. At her touch his eyes briefly snapped to her, face unreadable. There were too many thoughts swirling behind his eyes, preventing any single one to take purchase in his expression.
“Astarion, I’m so sorry. I was being selfish. I never should have –,” she started to say.
Without looking at her, he brusquely brushed her hand from his arm and quickly walked over to the door, yanking it open and swiftly disappeared from her sight.
Not a single word spoken, he just – left.
A moment later, Gale came into view from the direction Astarion had gone. Stopping when he noticed that the door to her room was open and their eyes met.
Gale then turned to look back down the hall in the direction Astarion had gone and his expression went from confusion to indignation.
When he looked back into her room, Edith saw his face twist in revulsion as he caught sight of her underclothes on the floor at the foot of her bed.
Heaving a sigh, he reached for the latch and fixed her with a look of pity laced with disappointment before wordlessly shutting the door.

PUPPYM DETECTIVE

Chapter 3 & 4 : investigation (full)
So I drew up my list of suspects, the most suspicious of whom were also on it and therefore a priority for interrogation. Thanks to Jisung, I at least knew who to expect, although I still hadn't got over the fact that he'd slept with Minho.
Seriously, what else did he have besides being a chaebol?
Anyway, small aside ... Back to the subject, so I finished my list, making a slight sound of victory that prompted Jisung to look over and rest his head on my shoulder:
Suspect list:
Lee Minho / Yang Jeongin
Hwang Hyunjin / Bahng Chan
Seo-Lee Changbin / Seo-Lee Felix
-What about me? Jisung exclaimed with a pout, making me chuckle.
-What? You want me to put you on the list of suspects?
-I was also with Wooyoung in the last 24 hours before his death, and yet you don't question me?
Pff, it's amazing how Jisung loved to ask for attention even in such serious situations. But I got used to the game, I put on a false air of seriousness and turned to face him before asking "Mr Han, did you kill Jung Wooyoung?
Jisung then looked guilty before looking me in the eyes with a glint, an indescribable glint, he was really starting to scare me... he had nothing to do with it right? Right? Please let him be innocent so that at least he doesn't play an important role in this crime.
-No sir and I have an alibi! I was with my hot roommate" he replied with an amused air, striking various poses to look cute.
Damn, he gave me a fright... I almost thought for a moment he had something to reproach himself for... You're pathetic Seungmin, pull yourself together. You know how Jisung loves to joke around!
After all, that's how it's always been between us: he teases me and I react.
-You're an idiot, come on, let's go now" I said, giving him a pat on the shoulder before entering the LeeBit's cock cafe to question the first suspects.
Tumblr media
- "Welcome, settle in, I'm coming!" cried a voice from afar as the little bell on the front door rang as soon as anyone opened it.
It wasn't long before Lee Minho came in, surprised at first, and ended up talking to Jisung as if I weren't there.
-Sungie, it's been a long time! Seems thzt you've been eating well, I see" he said before hugging Jisung as if they hadn't seen each other for years.
-Oh, you know, being interim city councillor here makes me eat a lot," he joked, shaking his belly.
As long as I've known Jisung, I've known he wasn't the type to work out 24 hours a day, in fact he was very lazy. When we were teenagers, he had that slim body that everyone dreamed of, but in recent years laziness had got the better of him, and although it was only a few extras kilos, since he became a xity councillor I'd seen him eating more and more, rubbing his belly or suck in while he have to put on his clothes.
Here too, I'm not judging, just observing. And then when he comes to cuddle me it's nice
But enough about that, let's get back to the main topic.
I coughed loudly enough to remind Minho of my presence, and he disinterestedly turned his gaze on me.
-Oh, you came with him... what's his name again?"
- "Seung-"
- "Thank you for talking about me as if I weren't here, but that's not why we're here. Lee Minho I'm asking you to please answer my questions."
- "What about?"
-About the murder of city councilor Jung Wooyoung. It seems that you were among those who were with him in the last 24 hours before his death. Could you tell me what you were doing on March 24 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.?"
I sat him down on one of the tables, and Jisung did the same, although he was just following suit. So Minho was the only one left standing, and he seemed rather surprised by the turn of events.
-What? Am I really being interrogated? Why am I under suspicion, eh? And why shouldn't it be Jisung hm? They always say assistants have things to hide."
Minho offered to help and seemed to be holding back, while Jisung didn't know where to put himself. The poor guy had tried to be nice to him and all he could come up with were false accusations.
-And accusing someone else instead is just as suspicious. After all, a chaebol's son could very well have killed or begged to kill the councilman on his father's orders."
I'd hit the nail on the head. He crossed his arms and walked away, mumbling something so sincere he was so far away.
But I didn't give up, I got up and walked towards him, grabbing him by the arm before he pushed me away and wrote
-I've done nothing! I had nothing to do with this! All I want here is a peaceful life in a peaceful town! If even in the most peaceful corner I get judged then where do I go?" He shouted as tears began to well up in his eyes.
Jisung also decided to stand up and handed Minho a handkerchief to wipe his eyes. But I didn't believe in his sobs, which seemed too fake to be true.
You had to look to see the bottle of samine eye solution he was clutching in his left hand.
-At worst, if running a cafe doesn't work out, you can always go into film", I said, smiling broadly before chuckling.
Minho quickly stopped his fake sobbing, looked at me contemptuously and sighed heavily.
-Pff, what you don't have to do to get some peace and quiet ... on March 24th at 6pm I closed the café, you only have to look at the surveillance camera outside and at 8pm I was at home watching a mukbang show".
I then took note of this information "What program?"
-Bonggil and I watched one of his videos from 3 weeks ago. Should I also give the title or have I clarified enough for you?"
At that moment, I felt like punching him in the face, but I stayed calm and finished writing.
-That'll be all for you, and where can I find your brother?
-Ah no, that's enough, you're not going to piss off my brother with your bullshit! The poor guy can barely sleep because of his college classes, so if I see you bothering him with your questions because you're just an unemployed guy who flunked out of police school, then I'm really going to commit murder.
The rage in his eyes, his clenched fist, the vein popping out of his throat. He was definitely angry with me... or maybe I'd struck a chord.
Without realizing it, he had helped me greatly in this investigation. After all, if Jeongin was in college, all I had to do was call Brian and ask him if he'd seen Mr Yang that day.
Ah, it's always good to have a big brother as school secretary.
- "Very well thank you for everything, sorry for the disturbance goodbye"
I tilted my hat at him and walked out with Jisung, who still looked as lost as ever.
- "So... ?"
- "so what?
- "Is he guilty or not?"
- "Sungie investigations don't work like that! And calm down, you look like you're going to faint any minute", he said, patting her shoulder. The poor guy looked as white as a sheet
-I probably haven't eaten enough ... where should we go this time? Jinrinet Bowl, right?"
- "That's right.
Tumblr media
Hyung can I go out now?" Young Yang asked a few minutes after Seungmin and Jisung left the cafe.
-Yes, of course! Let me help you!"
Minho ran over to the cupboard where Jeongin was, opened it and helped his half-brother out.
- "Ouch, you're heavier than last time, Innie!" complained the oldest before putting the youngest back on the floor.
Jeongin rolled his eyes at him before crossing his arms "Don't say that! I must have put on a pound or two.
Minho cast a sidelong glance, showing that he was quite dubious. After all, if one or two kilos for Jeongin meant six or seven kilos ...
But he had a share of the responsibility, he loved feeding and taking care of his younger brother, it had been like that since they were little!
-I really thought I was going to die inside !
- "Sorry Innie, but I really didn't want that idiot to come and talk to you!
-Why? Are you afraid I'll tell them about Dad? Or about his Stayville project?
- "Ssh not so loud he could hear you!
- "Sorry, it was louder than me"
The youngest then began to whisper and the two brothers discussed this mysterious project, case 143: All in project.
- "But if Seungmin finds out, is it serious?
- "I think so ... especially if his father's a cop, then we'll be in trouble.
- "I understand hyung ...
- "So if he or Jisung ever comes to question you you just deny everything! You know what, just act like you hate me!
- "Hate you? That won't be any different from the usual" plaisanta le youngest
- "In the meantime, I'm the one who cooks for you, so show some respect!"
- "Yes, sir.
Tumblr media
So with Jisung nius enter the second store: jinrinet bowl. I had a feeling it was going to be hectic. Ever since Hyunhin's arrival in town, I hadn't had a good feeling about it, and let's not even talk about the bad blood between him and Jisung, the reason for which I didn't even know!
As soon as we entered, Hyunjin almost blocked our path. His shirt was badly buttoned up, an eyeful of lip gloss was at the corner of his lip and his hair was a mess. Great, I wanted to talk to Mayor Bahng too.
-Sorry, the café's about to close", he declared haughtily.
-I'm here to ask you and the mayor some questions... he's here, I suppose?
Hyunjin frowned before crossing his arms in a disinterested manner. Pff, he could be such a jerk!
-Sorry, I'm not answering any questions, you'll have to drink my coffee first.
What a scam! At least Jisung could make the most of his hunger.
-Very well ... Jisung take a cheesecake-
- "Is Jisung going to interogate me?"
- "No, it's-
- "Then it's not working! You have to order food yourself, Kim Songmin".
Is it a serious kid, already paying for it, then I have to change clothes and they get my first name wrong? He was definitely doing it on purpose
-Very well, bring me a croissant
-right away".
He smiled falsely and came back with a small croissant barely larger than the palm of my hand, almost throwing it on the table.
Breathe in, breathe out Seungmin, you'll be fine.
-So I was saying-
- "I only answer to questions if the order is at least 90 000 won ... sorry
Nothing was sincere and Jisung, who was sometimes a little candid, also seemed on the verge of wanting to strike.
-Very well, bring me everything I need to eat for 90,000 won".
- "Right away, Mr Kim ~"
He returned later with a huge tray filled with various pastries and sweets. This time, he set it down delicately before looking him up and down and laughing.
- "I'm not surprised you're eating so much anyway, considering your body!
I beg your pardon? I hadn't put anything in my mouth and Jisung had held back, but if this keeps up, I'll be leaving without interrogate him .
... unless that's what he wants ...
Well, I was going to have to resist his viper's tongue and eat a kilo of food now.
Besides, why was he talking like that about my body? I mean, I know I'm not muscular rr athletic, but to call me fat?
Okay, maybe I had a little trouble getting my pants on this morning and I think my cheeks rounded out, but was it that easy to notice?
I had a long drink and started to eat with Jisung, who looked at me sadly. After all, he wasn't allowed to eat even a crumb of all that food at the risk of Mr. Bitch deciding to institute a new rules.
-So ... can we start the interview?
Hyunjin uncrossed his arms and took a seat at our table, "with pleasure, but not for too long, I've got more interesting things to do.
Make a little effort
-So ... Hwang hyunjin, where were you on March 24th between 5pm and 8pm?
-At home drinking wine
- "Can anyone prove it?
- "My fuck buddy aka Mr Mayor Bahng but you already know that, asshole" he said with a wink
In the meantime I shouted that Jisung had escaped after glowering at Hyunjin and fled to the toilet.
-And who can prove that the two of you were there?
-"Oh my but you eat well, don't you! It looks like a double chin is starting to appear!"
I know I shouldn't have listened to him, but out of curiosity, after swallowing the double doughnut I ran my hand over my chin, and although it wasn't as smooth as before, there was no double chin yet.
It seemed to be a humiliating sight for hyunjin, who laughed and added "The only thing worse than that is that you believe it!
- "Do you ever fatsham people or is it your annorexic model side that comes out?"
- "Only with people I don't like
-" Why do you dislike me then ?
-You've hurt someone who means a lot to me in order to satisfy your overblown ego. So if I were you, I'd get rid of it all, give up and lock myself in my house so as not to piss anyone off", he shouted, tapping my chest with the tip of his finger.
I thought I'd heard enough. I wanted to leave just like that without paying, but the food was too good to stop, and my mother had raised her in such a way as to never spoil the food.
Miraculously, I had finished everything in record time. Once upon a time I'd have been full by the third croissant, but now I'd eaten it all.
And maybe I was still a little hungry
-Nothing more to add ?" I asked, wiping the few crumbs from my face.
-I'd have so much to say, but I promised to keep it a secret" he said hopefully.
What was he talking about? I think I've reached an interesting point here too...
-What secret are you talking about?
- "I don't want to say, otherwise it wouldn't be a secret after all!"
Pff, I knew that wasn't going to work.
- "Who did you promise to keep this secret from?"
- "I could tell you, but..." he then turned his head towards the backstage area of the café, where the toilets were and the safe way up to his house. He was staring at something or someone, but who? " It's 90,000 won extra food because it's really crisp news".
I sighed, about to accept, and then, as if out of nowhere, Jisung came and took my arm.
-Don't listen to him Minnie, I'm sure he's just doing it to rip you off!
- "To rip you off? I thought you knew me better than that Sungie ~"
- "Shut the fuck up we didn't talk to you"
Wow, seeing Jisung swear was common, but insulting someone was new! But I can understand him, he was more easy-going and irritable than me, and I can't imagine what he could have said to make Sungie hate him so much.
I mean, everybody loved Jisung and Jisung loved everybody! This guy must have been a total scumbag for Jisung to hate him!
-You're right, let's go, I think I've had enough proof from him!
I got to my feet with difficulty after all the food I'd just swallowed, my belly poking at my shirt hanger, it was a truly unpleasant feeling and Jisung seemed to understand my case as he helped me to my feet before tenderly caressing my shoulder with a gentle smile.
- "How sweet, two pigs helping each other ~" declared Hyunjin.
It's as if he's just broken a moment of silence between Jisung and me. It's weird what I'm going to say but I hope he's not guilty because I have a feeling the next time I saw him I'm going to punch him.
-Come on Minnie, let's go!
We then head for the exit before Hyunjin noisily clears his throat to attract our attention.
- "Aren't you forgetting something?
- "Hit you? We might break you, since you've got skin on your bones" spat Jisung as Hyunjin put on an offended expression.
- "That's a good one, but no. I was talking about the bill, I don't feed or talk for free!"
That's right, I'd forgotten. So frustrated I grabbed my wallet, and tossed a few bills in the air before they fell to the ground.
-Keep the change, it'll buy you some respect" I said before walking out the door.
- "Well said Seungmin, I'm proud of you for standing up to him! Jisung exclaimed as he put his arm around me.
My heart was pounding, I missed seeing him so clingy and tactile with me, I'd so much liked it to have worked out between us, but friendship isn't one of my priorities and Jisung understood that. Yet I hate to think of him being with someone else, or of him not being so tactile and clingy with me.
I love him but I hate it.

Unknown :
Idiot I heard everything you almost blew it!
Hyunjin:
What? I told the truth. I remind you that between you and me it's simply because we have a common enemy. If I can sell the information for money, I'm in.
Unknown:
You're so easily corruptible it disgusts me
Hyunjin:
That's why I hook up with the mayor :D
Unknown:
And that you were an accomplice in the murder of the general councillor?
Hyunjin:
He had compromising things about me. But I remind you that you're just as guilty as I am!
Unknown:
It's a good thing none of us killed him. Yang is so easily manipulated
Hyunjin:
What about the other stupid detective?
Unknown:
Don't say that, he's a lot smarter than we think.
Hyunjin:
If you say so
unknown :
I'll take care of him.
I know an excellent way of taking care of him so that he doesn't interfere with our plans.
Hyunjin:
Wow, you're scary, man.
Unknown:
Shut up you idiot
I'll leave you to it, he's about to enter the last bakery.
Tumblr media
- "So hyung you think Hyunjin has something to hide?"
-I'd say he's protecting someone. I'm almost not surprised.
- "Maybe it's Mayor Bahng," suggested Jisung.
-Why not ... how about ...someone with influence! Like Minho and Jeongin's father!"
- "You've gone too far, Minnie. If this turns out to be true, this whole investigation is just a misunderstanding, and Wooyoung really did die of a heart attack!
-Are you kidding me, Jisung? I'll bet you anything that there's murder behind all this!
- "If you say so, but promise me one thing, if things get too hard, please stop... I don't like it when you go to such lengths for mysteries that sometimes will never be solved!
I sighed but nodded all the same. True, I had a list of investigations I'd solved, but I also had a very long list of unsolved mysteries. I didn't want anything to do with it, I loved this thirst for mystery, even if it meant losing myself in it.
That's where I live, that's where I triumph!
-Shall we go to the last store now?
- "Yes, but I think we'll be fine, especially if you and Felix are friends.
Jisung chuckled before I stepped in front of the last sign, "BbokAri & Dwaekki Bakery".
Right away, the atmosphere was pink and colorful compared to the other two, which were more sober and cold.
No sooner had we entered than Felix came to greet us with a big smile.
-Ah Jisung, you've finally come with Seungmin! I've been looking forward to seeing you in person for so long, all this talk about you and how you love our pastries", said the blond man, shaking my hand with a gentle grip given his small hands.
-Thank you, but we've already met a few times, you know" I said almost shyly. I felt confident, so I dropped the formalities with him.
-Yes but it's been at least months if not a year! Come on I just made a batch of brownies!"
He then walked away, leaving me and Jisung alone as we sat down at one of the empty tables. At last I thought we were alone until I spotted Changbin from a distance at the counter, looking like he was taking a nap. He must have been a heavy sleeper, because Felix was talking normally, not to mention the music in the background of the bakery, which, although semi-inaudible, would have disturbed anyone.
Then the more I detailed him, the more I noticed how much bigger he'd gotten since the last time I saw him. Okay, I know that he and his husband are into this kind of strange fetish, but here he's bloated like a blimp! His clothes barely fit him. Then now he just looked like a huge ball of fat, it was both strange and ... fascinating.
-Hey, stop looking at him! Look at me instead" commented Jisung, bringing him out of my thoughts as I turned to him and smiled.
-Don't I give you enough of my time already?
- "Yes, you do, but lately I've had less time to spend with my Minnie and I'm really mad about it, you know?
- "Yah, I always offer to come and see you, but you always refuse!
- "Because I have to show that I'm not corruptible! Everyone knows about your investigation at the town hall, so I have to be discreet so that no one notices that I'm your spy" he said, miming a few amusing poses that made me burst out laughing.
It was then that Femix arrived with his tray full of brownies, well, I'd say olutot brownie mountains, which he placed on this tiny table: "Oh, you're both so mig on! How long have you been darting?"
Silence.
Jisung and I were silent, not that the question was awkward because we were just friends and roommates, but ... because we knew how we felt about each other, but we'd never gone further than that night ...
-Oh no, did I say something wrong? I'm sorry, I tend to talk too much! Normally Binnie would be there to calm me down, but my love sleeps soundly after working so hard" he said before sniggering.
-It's nothing, I admit that if I were him, I'd take as many naps as necessary! Said Jisung as he took some brownies and devoured them.
-Ah yes, I can imagine that being a town councillor is no easy".
-My days are all about working, eating and sleeping!
- "It was the same as before" I said before chuckling. "By the way, Felix, take a seat, I'd like to ask you a few questions.
Felix hesitantly took a chair and sat down beside us while Jisung devoured the mountain of brownies. I let him have them, seeing how well I'd eaten before. "What are the questions about?"
- "The murder of Jung Wooyoung, I'm ingerogeing the last people he saw in the last 24 hours, so can you tell me what you were doing on March 24th between 5pm and 8pm?
-Oh, it's so simple! It was Changbin and I's wedding anniversary! At 4.50pm we closed the bakery and went home without getting ready. We left at 7:30 p.m. for the restaurant I'd booked at the Hall of Fame restaurant! I've got the ticket to prove it!"
-Nah, it'll be fine. Keep going.
- "So then I think around 9pm we went for a walk in the streets with Binnie ... well we tried because he had eaten so much that we quickly went home and ... the details after that are rather confidential I hope you don't mind" he said blushing, making Jisung almost choke as I coughed nervously understanding what they had done after eating.
-Hmm, I see. Did Mr. Jung say anything in particular to you that day?
- "Let me think again... I think he told us about a case he was working on that was very important and could upset the whole city.
-So there is a file like this in my office !" exclaimed Jisung, who then shouted so loudly that Changbin was startled out of his sleep.
-Oh no Binnie you're fine go back to sleep ~" said Felix with a honeyed voice as she approached his husband to cuddle him, while Changbin kissed him tenderly, blurring the line between dreams and reality.
I glanced awkwardly at Jisung, who seemed just as embarrassed as I was.
Then the exchange seemed to become more fiery and conretised from the moment Fleix sat on her husband.
-W-We should go ... now" murmured Jisung as I nodded and we left the room, not ready to put the image out of our minds.
Tumblr media
- "It's okay they're gone you can stop now!"
- "What really? Who would have thought it would have worked?"
- "You're such a good actor Binnie they didn't even see you were pretending to sleep!"
- "I did the right thing because I had a really bad idea about that Seungmin. He's too eager to find out", he declared with a touch animosity .
- "It turns me on when you're serious like that jagi ~
- "The bakery is still open.
- "It's going to close early today so that means everything here is for you!"
He then analyzed the almost entirely filled window and swallowed hard at the sheer quantity.
-I guess it's snack time".
Tumblr media
Once home, Seungmin and Jisung collapsed on their sofa and sighed together.
-What a long day," cried Seungmin.
- "I hope at least you have the evidence you need now"
- "I've put it all together in this little notepad, now we just have to check that it's true! And then, Sungie, if you could toruvert this famous important file that Felix was talking about, that would be perfect!
-Sure counts on me Minnie ~ But now I'm hungry, let's order something!
- "Are you hungry after all you've eaten?"
-:Dare to tell me that your belly doesn't growl either
Seungmin was about to retort, but her belly replied instead, making Jisung laugh and the younger man blush.
-Mystery solved! Let's order some rameyon with... tteokboki ... and why no rice cakes?"
Jisung seemed lost in thought about the food while Seungmin seems thoughtful
-Sungie, do you think I've put on weight?
- "What? You're hardly my sexy detective! what makes you think that?"
- "Duh, can't you see how tight my pants are on me? And look at my belly sticking out! It's because of you and all your carvings!"
Seungmin laughed as an outraged jisung came to stand against him.
-Shall we swap bodies then? Because believe me, if you gain weight, then I swelled up! Look at my thighs!"
They began to compare their thighs, then their stomachs, their legs, their arms. In short, every part of their body that could store fat!
In the end, they ended up ordering three large pizzas with extra cheese.
No sooner had the order been placed than there was a knock on the door. Who could it be at this hour? Definitely not the delivery man they'd just ordered.
- "I get it i'll go and open it" said the youngest, rising to his feet before walking to the front door and opening it.
He gasped as he saw the person in front of him. They lived in the same town and had not spoken or seen each other for almost five years.
- "Dad?!"
-Can I come in? Mr Kim asked coldly.
- "Yes yes come in"
Seungmin worked great carrying her then letting his father in before considering an important factor... jisung was there
- "Who was Minnie?"
-Minnie? Wow, I still can't get used to that... good evening Jisung" ajiura Mr Kim
- "It's your father. ... shit Good evening Mr Kim. . Euhm I'm going to go now I had swimming lessons in a few minutes ... yes that's it
Jisung left immediately, leaving Mr. Kim and his son alone.
-So what are you doing here?
- "I suppose you're investigating Jung Wooyoung's death?"
-Yes, so what? I may not be a cop, but I know how to investigate!
- "It's a tricky business, you know? It's a real Pandora's box ... once you've opened it, the evil is already there.
-What are you trying to say?
- "I'm also investigating this death and I've discovered some things that you'd better keep away from, for your own good and for Jisung's sake.
-So you're interested in me now? Didn't you find it annoying to kick him out just because I'd slept with Jisung?"
- "I was just afraid you'd ruin your life by ...
-By what? By dating a farmer's son? By deciding to become a policeman despite your refusal? And congratulations because apart from that I didn't do either one!
Seungmin then unwittingly sobbed while his father, rigid, didn't know what to do.
-I ... I'm sorry Seungmin
- "It's not enough" he said as he cried
- "If there's anything I can do for you ... or for jisung ...
-"... no, it's all right ... my father died years ago so I don't need you or your help".
Mr. Kim, obviously disappointed, didn't know what else to say. Seungmin was crying all the time and her father didn't know what to do.
-I... I'll be off then...
- "Go ahead, my door's wide open.
- "If you take my advice, I want to protect you
- "if you say so... now go away
And so the father left, leaving his son alone ... crying loudly but mostly alone .
Nothing could calm him down, he became uncontrollable when the subject of his mother was opened. The poor boy cried and cried and cried.
-Why am I so alone?
He cried again before a piece of information made him realize something
- "What if it's not one but many guilty parties? Maybe, in the end, they're all involved in one way or another!"
He then wiped away his tears and headed for his desk to write this idea down on his big board, where he was gathering all the information he'd known so far.
-"Seungmin? Is it me , can i to go home now?"

Another Rosekiller fic
No cw this time it’s fluff!!
“He’s moping again.”
“Hmm?” Evan looked up from his Charms essay to see one of his two best friends standing there.
“I said he’s moping again.” Regulus repeated, shoving his hands in his pockets. He’d changed out of his outer robes though he was still in his uniform from today so he managed to still have an air of grace to him even as he stood there in front of Evan. Regulus was the only out of the three who seemed not less comfortable in lounge clothes than his uniform. Whereas Evan had been in a set of pyjama trousers and a band tee from a concert he’d seen last summer with Barty since the moment he had gotten back to the dorms after dinner, three hours ago. Speaking of the boy. Evan rolled his eyes and looked back at his book, eyes catching on a bit of highlighted text there. As he copied the information over to his essay, he replied,
“And who’s got him upset this time?”
Regulus smiled, briefly. Always briefly with Regulus; Evan wished he would smile more sometimes, he deserved happiness in his life. He sat down on the sofa next to Evan. Not like how Barty would, with an undignified plop. No, Regulus sat with poise and grace that was instilled in him for the last sixteen years of his life. Evan put his quill to his mouth and surveyed his friend as he waited for the answer.
“Melanie? Was that her name this time? Marlana? Maladroit?” Regulus mused. He pronounced the last word in a perfect French accent.
“That one’s not even a name,” Evan snorted.
“Yeah well it’s accurate for Barty.” Regulus reasoned. That it was.
“And you want me to talk to him?” Evan scanned the next page of his charms textbook, frustrated. There was nothing useful on this page that he hadn't already used, he’d have to go to the library.
“Finished mine last night.” Regulus nodded towards the essay. “I’ve got a book that was really helpful, I’ll get it once he stops moping because if I go up there and have to hear one more thing about this girl I will drown myself.”
“Are you bribing me, Regulus Black?” Evan shut his textbook as he spoke. Already resigning to the fact that he’ll have to go upstairs and confront Barty.
“Is it working?” Regulus leaned back with his arms crossed and raised an eyebrow. It would have been much more convincing if the dark green sofa weren’t currently attempting to swallow him whole. Nobody could sit in these sofas without being consumed eventually but least of all Regulus who always sat all the way back and he was just so small with that seeker build. Though Evan would never say as much to him.
“Fine. Can you look over what I’ve written so far?” He passed his parchment over and Regulus nodded, already reading through the scribbled notes there.
Evan sighed and stood, wiping nonexistent dust off his pyjama trousers as he did so, just for something to do. His footsteps felt heavy as he climbed the staircase and ambled down the hall to their dorm. The dark shadows in the lake windows along the hall felt as ominous as this encounter would be.
Barty was an absolute menace when he was moping. Anything could send him into dramatics, a poor test grade, a detention, missing a bludger he should have hit in practice, and, yes, girls. Then similarly, he’d seen Barty cast aside poor grades, laugh about detentions, tease himself over a poor play in an actual game, and wave off a girl as just some fun he was having. The inconsistencies made it so Evan and Regulus rarely knew what to expect from him on any given day.
That was how they had developed a routine on how they approached him. Regulus usually with blunt, unapologetic truths about how Barty needed to get up off his ass and do something about it. Evan, on the other hand, with kind words and sometimes a cuppa. It was a real good auror, bad auror dynamic they have. Unfortunately, there’s no telling at the jump which one Barty will need. He tended to respond to both approaches with no rhyme or reason. It seems today he needs softness if Regulus wasn’t able to sort him out already, and Evan is willing to do that for him. He’s always willing to be whatever Barty needs.
The loud tones of The Bludgers hit him as soon as he opened the dorm door. At least it seems Barty had the sense to throw up a silencing charm, or maybe that had been Regulus’ doing. He pulls out his wand and silences the record player with a quick spell. To Barty’s credit, he didn’t move.
“Alright, what’s this about?” Evan plopped down on the end of Barty’s bed and fixed the back of Barty’s head with an impatient stare. A moment later, Barty rolled over, knocking his foot against Evan’s thigh but not seeming to care that they were touching because he left it resting there.
“Am I unlovable?” Barty asked after a long pause.
“Unlovable?” Evan repeated. He screwed his nose up, not at the word itself but at the word in association with Barty. “Since when does that bother you?”
“So I am.” He sounded defeated. He sounded like he’d taken a brain altering potion. Or maybe someone using polyjuice on him because this surely was not Barty.
"That's not what I'm saying, Barty." He looked down the bed at his friend who was properly in a stroop. His brows were furrowed deep in thought, arms crossed in front of him, lips turned downward and in a bit of a pout as well. It struck Evan as fairly cute before he shook those thoughts and returned to how annoying his friend was being. "Look, mate, it's not that–"
"Mate." Barty mimicked bitterly. Evan raised an eyebrow at him unsure where they had gone wrong and why that word would be bothering Barty. "I–you know actually it's fine, forget it, mate."
"What did I–" Evan attempted to begin asking the question but Barty kicked at Evan's thigh where their bodies were touching. He moved up the bed again while grabbing an afghan his mother had knit for him and wrapping it around him tightly.
"Can you leave me alone?" He asked, his voice small. Wrapped up in the afghan as he was, Evan could tell this wasn't the usual stroop. His eyes were red and watery around the edges and there were deep, dark bags under them. Evan tried to think back if Barty had been sleeping lately and he couldn't remember. He should have been paying attention to this. He should at least know the name of someone obviously this important to Barty. Reflecting back, he can't remember a single conversation they've had about girls all week.
"Err, yeah." He muttered and got up off the bed. He stopped at the door, turning back to Barty. "You're not unloveable, Barty." A final attempt at pulling his friend out of this sadness. The boy under the blanket didn't respond and Evan took his leave.
~~~
A stream of purple light shoots over top of Evan’s face as he’s lounging in his bed and hits a bundle of blankets to his right.
“Ow! What the fuck!” Barty is to his feet, grasping for his wand off his bedside table, within seconds. However, Regulus has already shot off another wordless hex. “What. The. Fuck!” Barty growls again, rising to his feet once more, and attempts to shoot off his own stinging hex but Regulus, the better dueler, has already set up a shield charm and sent another hex. This time it catches the edge of Barty’s robes on fire and he’s distracted from calling out another spell by having to stomp the fire out.
Evan’s brain seems to finally catch up after that and he throws a shield up for Barty and glares over at Regulus just as another stream of pink light makes its way across the dorm.
“What are you on about?” Evan shrieks. Duelling in their dorm isn’t uncommon but usually both parties have agreed to it before having a hex hurled at their head. This has come completely unprovoked. As far as Evan is aware, Barty hasn’t said anything to either of them in two days. Not since he told Evan to get out of the dorm. He tries not to think about that or the bitter way Barty had said 'mate' as if the word were no longer true.
Evan had of course had to come back later that evening for bed but Barty had already closed the curtains of his four-poster around himself. He had skipped all his classes the following day and then today, a Hogsmeade Saturday, he had stayed in the dorm all day despite the many girls who had been disappointed in not seeing him.
"His moping is driving me mad." Regulus explained, setting his wand back to his side but keeping his grip tight. Across the room, Barty did the same though with a lot less poise. He pushed his hair back from his face, attempting to regain his breath as he did so. Evan lowered his shield.
"You don't just attack, Reggie, we've been over this." Evan attempted to joke but it fell flat as the other two dorm members glared daggers at each other across the small space.
"You act like you've never spent a weekend in bed, hypocrite." Barty replied. Which was actually a very fair point, when Regulus moped, it was much more difficult to bring him back than it was when he or Barty got in a way.
"Just tell us who it was?" Regulus ignored Barty's accusations. "We'll prank them, then you can move on." He waved a hand in the air indicating how he expected the situation would simply disappear.
"It has been a while since we've pranked anyone." Evan agreed, eager to have his friend back. Chaos was Barty's love language, hopefully it would bring him back.
Instead, Barty just rolled his eyes and groaned at them. He picked up his blanket again and climbed back onto his bed. With a quick flick of his wand, all the curtains closed around him. Evan and Regulus exchanged a look; Regulus' a bit more murderous than Evan's soft concern though they seemed on the same page as they walked over and reopened the curtains.
"You're really gone for this bird aren't you, mate." Evan climbed onto the edge of the bed. Across from him, Regulus did the same so they were now all three on the bed.
"Mate." Barty mimicked in a bitter tone from under his blanket cocoon.
"Ok that's the second time you've taken issue with me calling you mate what the fuck is wrong with you?" Evan could feel his anger rising, he tried not to get angry, not usually. Sometimes his anger built up way too much and it overtook him completely so there was nothing left to do but to scream.
These moments were rare and he attempted to contain them to moments when he was alone. Only Barty had seen him erupt once before in fourth year when they'd gotten back from the Easter holidays and Evan had spent two weeks holding his anger back at home. It had taken a hold of him without any warning and it was doing so again this time too. His very bones vibrating with the anger he hadn't realised was within him.
"Are we not mates anymore? Is that what this is? Some bird has you choosing between your mates or her because that's fucked mate! We're the ones who–"
"Not a bird."
"are there when yo–what?" Evan fixed him with a confused look but he only seemed to retreat further into his blanket. A cursory glance at Regulus showed that Evan was the only one of them truly confused by this statement. Instead of reacting, Regulus seemed to have found a very interesting spot on the floor that needed staring at.
"It's not a girl." Barty repeated, plainly. "I'm not with a bird, not with anyone right now. No one is making me choose anything." Evan tried to click together all the pieces he'd just been given but they weren't making sense in his head. He supposes he'd never really seen Barty differentiate between flirting with girls or guys, he just hadn't thought much of it. It was just, Barty. Barty was just a flirt, it didn't matter but had he actually been dating guys too? He hadn't noticed if he had been. This feels like something a best friend should know, shouldn't it?
Evan felt the weight of two sets of eyes on him as both his friends were now staring at him.
"What?" He asked, realising he must have missed something.
"I asked if that was a problem." Barty stated in a more confident voice than before. The defiance he used as self-defence shining through.
"Oh! No, no not at all. You're still Barty. Still my best mate." Evan offered him a smile and patted his shoulder over the blanket. He felt Barty wince and couldn't help the anger rising again, why was Barty so upset by this so suddenly. "What did I say wron–"
"It's nothing." Barty cut him off.
"It's clearly something." Evan shakes his head, he can deal with Barty in a mood, but Barty being upset with him when he's done nothing wrong isn't something he can manage with a level head. "Why are you upset with–"
He can't finish yet another sentence between Barty has snaked an arm out from the blanket to tug Evan forward and Evan has tipped off balance so that he has to place his hands on Barty to stop himself from fully falling on top of the other boy. One hand falls on his thigh and the other on his shoulder and he barely has time to process the fall (or the push?) before he looks into Barty's eyes and sees a faint blush on his friend's cheeks right there across those beautiful freckles and he's smirking. The bastard is smirking up at him like this was his plan all along but he isn't fooling anyone because Evan can hear his breath hitch all the same when one of them, he really isn't sure who, closes the gap between them.
Just like that, he's kissing his best mate.
Mate.
Oh, now he gets it.
What a horrible word in hindsight.
Distantly, Regulus mumbles something to the pair and Evan feels the shift in weight off the bed but he doesn't focus enough to comprehend what his friend said because he's kissing Barty and Barty is kissing him back and Barty is…pulling away. He frowns.
"Hey Ev?" Barty asks.
"Yeah?" Evan asks back. He doesn't move from where he was, confused as ever from Barty's behaviour.
"Will you do me a favour?" His breath skates across Evan's cheeks and makes him shiver.
"What is it?" His voice is barely a whisper.
"Will you shut up? You're thinking so loud." He whispered back, his voice steady and strong. Evan barely had time to nod before Barty hooked his hand around his neck and pulled them back together.
~~~
Time finds them still on Barty's bed when Regulus returns to the dorm. It might have been hours later or only minutes, Evan isn't sure. They're laying on their sides facing one another, Barty's fingers brushing against Evan's cheek absently. They aren't saying anything, they haven't been saying anything, yet the silence feels so different than it had moments, minutes, hours (however long it had truly been) before.
"Are you done moping?" Regulus asked. Barty made a noncommittal noise, his eyes not leaving Evan's. "Are you two mates again?" This drew Barty's attention more, he raised up on his elbow to glare at Regulus across the room. Before wands could be drawn yet again, Evan answered instead.
"I think it's safe to say we won't be just mates any longer." Barty looks over at him with an expression of shock and then it softens and he lays back down where he had been a moment before.
[insert actual fic ending here 😅]

Arkhelios Adventures
Tumblr media
Roman could barely breathe. He had been hard at work on the desserts for the evening when his son appeared from the hallway, fully in his dark form and shouting about something Roman hadn't understood. Something that Roman had clearly done to anger him, but what? Aside from his usual teenage moodiness, Theo hadn't shouted anything too hurtful at his parents recently. Well, not anything more hurtful than usual.
"Theo!" Roman reached for his son, only to see him fall to the floor lifelessly. "Theo!"
Tumblr media
"Call Lucy! Call Lucy now! I can call for an ambulance, but I think she might be the better option. Tell her to hurry!"
Tumblr media
It took everything in Roman to keep from rushing to his son and holding him until he was better, but he knew from experience that there was nothing that he could do but stand in the way of those who could help. As much as he hated to admit it, Roman wasn't in a position to even diagnose his son, let alone help him.
If his brain had been functioning properly, Roman would have immediately dialed Abe to help. He felt like he was in slow motion, watching a disaster unfold before him that he was powerless to stop. He didn't know if he could dial a phone properly, let alone teleporting to rush him to the scene. Every second he left their son alone was critical time he might need to make medical decisions.
Down the hallway, Miruna had answered his call to summon Lucy. Lucy hadn't immediately hung up and left Roman to the chaos he knew she'd enjoy. Perhaps her wife had insisted on helping her godson and they would both be there in seconds. Perhaps they saw this as a test for Theo to pass and wouldn't help. Asking Lucy for help was always a game of chance, but if Roman had to guess, Lucy's wife would insist on intervening even if Lucy wasn't interested.
Call Abe. Lucy is coming, now I need Abe here.
Abe was unfortunately at home with the kids, even if Roman could get him to the palace in his distracted state. Who was going to watch Abe and Saturnia and ensure that the twins weren't up to mischief? Evren or Adrian could, but that meant calling them, hoping they were free and being coherent enough to communicate what was happening without bursting into tears.
Still, Abe had to know, even if Roman himself didn't understand what was happening.
Theo's having an episode again. Called for your sister. I'll keep you updated, but Abe, I'm scared.
Short and reasonably informative. Hopefully by the time Abe got his text, Roman would have some kind of update for him
Tumblr media
"Theo!"
Roman looked to the heartbroken boy who had screamed like his entire world was ending, seeing Theo collapse. There was a reason Roman liked that boy better than some of the other contenders for his son's heart. He seemed to genuinely care about Theo, even when things got complicated like this.
Without warning, Adam's face seemed to shift into something dark and wild. Strange markings ran down his face, turning his eyes into a feral red. It was like nothing Roman had ever seen, well, aside from the few times he'd seen Theo play with blood magic. He could only assume that blood magic was the source for this emergency, just as it always was.
Fiercely shining lights emerged from Adam's palms which he directed at Theo's still body. When Theo remained unresponsive, Adam snarled in frustration and ended his spell. He paused for only a moment to reassess the situation. With a solemn sigh, Adam drew more power to himself.
Roman could see the effort the boy was making and the strain it was taking on his own body to gather what he needed to help Theo. There was definitely blood magic at play here. The stronger Adam made himself, the more the glowing fields around Theo shimmered. Was this the magical equivalent of a blood transfusion? Would Theo be stable now because of this transfer? Did he dare to hope that the solution would be that simple?
Tumblr media
"I'm not losing you over something stupid like this!" Adam shouted, throwing back his arm wildly to summon an even stronger energy. He flicked his hand expectantly and in a flash, a long white staff appeared.
"Adam?"
Miruna looked up from her phone to marvel at what she saw before her. Witches and warlocks could use a wide variety of wands for spells, usually when complex movements of fingers were impractical for things like dueling. In his daily life, Adam usually used hand movements for spells, but he also had a crystal wand for more complicated magic. Most magic users followed this example their entire life, never needing another wand to function daily.
The exception was a fraternity of select few magic users who could summon the White Staff of the Maricourts. The staff had first appeared at the beginning of recorded history and was expertly mastered by the earliest members of the Maricourt family. They shared this power with their covens and over the generations, teens came of age and were able to produce the staff on their own. It was a feat that most descendants of the Maricourt bloodline managed upon reaching young adulthood, and after years of study by those outside the bloodline. As the Maricourts divided over the centuries, taking control of both the Pleasantview and Strangetown coven, they taught the ability to those they trusted. Every member of the witch council in Pleasantview could produce the staff, and before its demise, the Strangetown coven's leadership could as well. That was why Miruna couldn't believe her eyes. No one had taught Adam that ability yet and it had taken Miruna years to master. Clearly this little blood magic problem hadn't just fed power to Theo, Adam was benefiting from it just as much.
Tumblr media
"Roman! What the hell happened? Theo's in trouble?"
Consort Lucy Helios-Diablo appeared in a shimmer of sparkles beside her wife, the Sovereign of all Demons, who Theo lovingly called Alexis. Roman hadn't been given a name to call her by, aside from Your Majesty, and didn't dare presume that being Theo's father and Lucy's brother in law entitled him to call her anything else.
"We made a pact and the spell went great...until it didn't," Adam answered, gritting his teeth with the effort to stay connected to his boyfriend. "It worked but instead of breaking off the pact, something went wrong. I think he's dying! I can feel him getting weaker and weaker, like something's pulling him away. I'm not letting him go though, I can save him."
Roman whimpered, trying to hide his panic at hearing these words, but failing miserably. He watched Theo's limp body with horror. Every time he'd seen his son collapse from magical causes, everyone had assured him that it would never happen again. Theo survived his birth, then his infant years, then his childhood only by a series of miracles and benevolent demons.
"This is why he's in school," he said, his voice heavy with anger and fear. "You said this wouldn't happen again! You promised me!"
Lucy and the Sovereign shared a weary glance at this.
"No one promised you anything, Roman," Lucy corrected him. "He's in school to save him and it's been working pretty great so far. It's not our fault that you and Abe keep screwing things up and encourage these flare ups."
Lucy stared, waiting for the usual Bellamy deferment of blame, only to be completely taken aback by his response.
Tumblr media
"I know," he sobbed, collapsing pitifully on the floor. Less than a meter from him lay Theo's motionless body. "It's all my fault. I don't know how, I just know that I'm to blame. He started yelling at me, I don't know what about. He was just so angry and then- and then-"
"Damn, Roman, you used to have at least some dignity," Lucy scoffed. She sat on the ground beside her brother in law and tried consoling him as best she could. "Did Ulyssa screw with you so badly that you lost yourself? Kids are going to be kids no matter what you do. God only knows what Noelle gets up to, and I don't blame myself. She's learning independence, just like Theo is. I mean, he's at school most of the month, so how are you screwing him up? You barely see him."
As usual, Lucy's consolation only made Roman feel worse about himself and his role in his son's life. It was true that he didn't see Theo as often as he saw Saturnia and Abe Jr, and it still tore him apart to think of his son growing up and experiencing all the exciting changes that came with it without his parents nearby.
Tumblr media
The Sovereign watched Adam struggle to hold on to a blood magic bond that was rapidly disintegrating. From what she could see, Adam had made a fair assessment of the situation. The pact had worked, she could see the energy the boy was holding onto and it had started to split, separating the two teens. If anything the Sovereign was impressed at the progress her little protégé was making. Completely unassisted, Theo had made a blood pact, fulfilled it and successfully ended it. This was progress that she would be reporting to his teachers so they could adapt his lessons to better suit his most recent abilities.
"Hmm. If my suspicions are correct, this should be a simple matter of…Mr Darktide, is it? Do you think you can maintain the blood connection for a few more minutes? I know that it's slipping away at the moment, but if you can hang onto it for a bit longer, this should be an easy fix."
"So he's going to be fine?" Roman gasped, focusing all of his hope on this new information. "He's not dying?"
"I'll do anything to save Theo," Adam interrupted quickly. They could deal with Roman's breakdown after Theo was safe. "Just tell me what to do."
The Sovereign raised her hand and concentrated on sensing the complicated flow of magic. She wasn't an expert in blood magic, but she was old enough to have been taught the basics centuries ago when it was more heavily practiced. Her posture relaxed when her suspensions were confirmed. She wouldn't have to deal with a distraught Bellamy, wailing about his own failings over a hospital bed tonight. Theo would need some rest, but nothing serious.
"Keep holding onto the connection," she ordered and Adam nodded as best as he could.
It was painful having to keep a grip on a connection that was slipping away from him, but Adam held firm.
Tumblr media
"Is that…is that the Maricourt staff?"
From behind Adam, a crowd had gathered to watch the spectacle. Remy stared at her brother in amazement, while her father grinned proudly.
"Your brother did it," he said with pride. "I didn't summon it until I was seventeen. Miruna was eighteen. I haven't even taught him the beginning steps."
Remy frowned, her amazement slowly turning to jealousy. She was Adam's twin and he'd just set some kind of family record for magical brilliance while she was still struggling to pass magical theory class.
Tumblr media
"Yes, just like that," the Sovereign called, still impressed by this little warlock's natural talent and his dedication to his partner. "All of this is fixable, there was never a question of him dying- he's gotten too powerful for that to happen." Roman stared at the limp body of his son and tried to believe those words. Having his son live at school and the sacrifices he and Abe had made were worth it after all. Even though Theo looked lifeless, his studies were keeping him safe. The Sovereign was acting like this was the demonic equivalent of putting a bandaid on a minor wound and not something life threatening. His son was going to live.
What kind of episode? What did Lucy say? I'm dropping the kids off with Mom and coming there. Pick me up in ten minutes.
Roman smiled reading his husband's words now that he wasn't actively preparing for Theo's funeral. There would be plenty of time to figure out how exactly this had happened now that Theo still had plenty of years left to learn from the experience.
Tumblr media
"You know, I think I'm just going to head home. This has been fun and all, but I think things have gotten a bit too weird for my liking. I'll see you guys around."
Ewan tried to exit the room as quickly as possible, before someone could turn their attention on him. It was one thing to try to figure out what his half-siblings had planned for him, it was an entirely different thing to be in the same room as his neglectful father, a princess and apparently the devil herself. If this was the kind of life that he was missing out on, Ewan was glad for it. Theo was cute and it would be a great accomplishment to steal him away from his half-brother, but there were some lines that Ewan didn't want to cross. He'd grown up in a country that demons flocked to, but he'd never seen one in their dark form before and definitely not this close. He wasn't exactly sure how to get home from Crystal Cove by himself, but the last thing he wanted was to engage with the supernatural spectacle he'd just left. Maybe his mom would send him money for the train if he asked. Anything was better than hanging around here.

L O K I and G for the A-Z dirty asks uwu
Dirty A-Z headcanon game
L - Lighting (are the lights on? off? do they have some kind of mood lighting set up?)
// Loki's a showy mofo. He very much likes mood lighting, though he's more likely to indulge in creating it with magic if he wants to impress someone and/or likes them a lot. Otherwise he's happy to make do with the light of the moment. He does lean toward preferring the dark, despite liking the attention of being seen, and adores the clandestine feeling of the darkness and its intimacy. It lends him a feeling of power, whether he's in control or not.
O - Outdoor sex (have they ever done it in public? would they? where?)
// Absolutely. Loki likes the thrill of being just a little out of sight but with a chance to be easily caught. Fields of long grass; up against trees at the edge of a forest; on the banks of a lake; on balconies; on outdoor tables of a tavern after dark; up on rooftops. That thrill aside, he has been on plenty of excursions with Thor and his friends where they would bring back companions to their camp. Now and then Loki would find someone or a few someones he hadn't managed to scare off and weren't favouring his brother. Especially if he snuck off and found them by himself.
K - Kissing (what parts of their body do they like having kissed? what parts of their partner do they enjoy kissing? do they like leaving marks / having marks left on them?)
// Pretty basic really but he loves being kissed at his neck, jaw, chest, forehead, and waist. He secretly very much likes the idea of being kissed at the small of his back, which would require trust or masking that he doesn't care. He likes to kiss a partner's neck, shoulders, lips, forehead, thighs, waist and hips. Forehead kisses in both instances are less for sexual instances and more for affection. Marks may be verse dependent but by default he doesn't care for giving or receiving them. He does like to playfully bite but isn't interested in inflicting the bruise that makes a mark. Any ownership he takes is preferred through subtler, invisible means. He does not like to feel owned himself and would resent marks at his throat. Fortunately, human partners are very unlikely to be able to make them on his skin. He would quietly enjoy bruises from rough sex/a battle beforehand, but they would ideally be incidental and not possessive in origin.
I - Impact play (talking about things like spanking, paddles, canes, floggers and the like.)
//Ok, so he's practically the god of kink so I feel weird having my Loki not be super into certain things, but I guess it's more like he's pro kink even if he personally doesn't go for everything. I suppose impact play he'd be down with if his partner specifically wanted it doing to them and were clear about what they wanted. He would enjoy playful spanking but not when it's in the classification of impact play. Either he wants it light and silly or he wants a full on rough and tumble fight that turns into sex. Smacking a partner with a paddle or whip isn't really his bag, though in female form she might enjoy a messaround with a riding crop or flogger, inflicting not receiving. Ehh, I think again it's situation dependent. I could see him enjoying having a male partner tied face down while he spanked them XD it's just likely the sub requested it rather than something Loki would invite people to have done to them.
G - Group sex (would they have a threeway? four? an orgy? do they put on a show for spectators? or do they like to keep it just between them and their partner?)
// Asgardians aren't unknown for their partaking in group experiences, even if Loki was supposed to somewhat behave with his princely status. Obviously he didn't, and neither did Thor. He has attended a few orgies in his time. Loki likes attention, especially when he's drunk, so he will draw it upon himself, but it's only when he's exceptionally drunk that he'll do so fully naked. The rest of the time he likes to remain mostly clothed and participate in a more controlled fashion. He ranges from refined to completely wild. In no-strings relationships, he's very open to this. If he's attached, which is a rare thing, he has the potential to become insecure and needs assurance and love from all parties involved that he's not going to be discarded out of distrust.

Earthbound Week 1 Update
(PART 1/4)
I'm back! It took a couple days longer than I would have liked. I got sick and then had a power outage. However, this gave me plenty of time to play Earthbound. And aside from the power outage, I played a lot.
I'm going to do lots of comparisons to Mother 1 today, it's hard not to. I'll start off by saying my pace is incredible. I'm moving at lightning-fast speeds! I've gotten six out of eight melodies and have every party member. That's not even mentioning levels. Right now I'm in the high 40s-low 50s. In Mother 1, these would be end-game levels, but it's late middle game in Earthbound! (At least I assume I'm in the late mid-game)
Rewinding a bit, let me go over just how far I am. Last time, I ended off with the second melody. After that, I returned Bana(Paula) back to her home and talked to Everdred.
He gave me 10,000 dollars! At first, I tried putting it in the ATM, but that didn't work. So, I walked around Twoson, trying to figure out how to use the money. Going to the theatre, I talked to the Runaway Five, who recognized Bana and gave us tickets.
Tumblr media
I watched the show and then talked to the Runaway Five again. They said they were in debt but when I used the money, they didn't take it. I went to the manager and gave it to him, paying their debt. Then, they offered to drive us to Threed to avoid the ghosts. This was all a happy accident. I forgot about the theatre while I was saving Bana and I hadn't tried going south yet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Threed, I talked to everyone. This gave me lots of info on the ghost issue, but I did this because Bana said we'd meet a new friend here. However, I couldn't find them!
Tumblr media
Out of options, I decided to just continue the plot and went to the far end of the cemetery. I triggered a cut scene and...
Tumblr media
I got kidnapped.
Tumblr media
Bana tried calling out for help with her telepathy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was so cool! I got to play as Apple(Jeff)! It's such an interesting way to make the world feel bigger, the adventure feel grander, and build a stronger connection to the characters. I figured it would be like Mother 1, where I went to different towns and convinced a kid to join my team, like with Bana. I like this much more, however. Even though he starts at level 1, this gives me time to test him out and grow attached.
Compared to Onion(Lloyd), he's both lacking and better. I think it'd be better if he had more specific items like Onion's Laser and Plasma Beams, but he makes up for it by fixing broken junk. And he essentially does have Laser/Plasma Beam equivalents, but they're equipable now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I soon got Bubble Monkey, a great addition to the team. Until proven otherwise, he's this game's EVE. Not because of his power, but because he's only in the game for a short time and I already love him. With him, I leveled up Apple a few.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made my way to Dr. Andonut's lab. The journey wasn't too bad, it was actually pretty fun. But really? He hasn't seen Apple in ten years? He's like what, 11? Father of the decade award.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I took his saucer for a ride, going to save-
Tumblr media
Ouch- Well, now Apple saves Bana and Straw(Ness)!
Tumblr media
I explored a bit more, but it seemed like the only thing to do was battle this tent. Luckily, I saved Apple's Big Bottle Rocket for a boss fight, so the tent was gone fast.
Side note: I'd like to mention Apple's "Spy" ability is very useful, helping me know the weaknesses of enemies. When fighting bosses, my first turn with Apple is either Big Bottle Rocket or Spy.
After that, I was able to go down the grave, well, thing in the cemetery. It was a long, treacherous path. Lots of opportunities for leveling up, but not much for healing. I made it out though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found Saturn Valley, and I love these guys. The way they talk is funny and they're so nice. I feel like it's basically this game's version of Magicant. It's a funny place full of helpful guys where you feel safe.
Tumblr media
Okay, I was going to stop this Belch-guy, because he's the leader of the zombies and ghosts; but after seeing him enslave the Saturns, I was mad, I wanted justice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So the first attempt didn't go so great...
At first, I tried using the Fly Honey, because they kept saying how it's his favorite food, but that made him belch in our faces and take a bunch of damage, so I rewinded and fought normally.
Apple told me he was weak to hypnosis, so I kept putting him to sleep and wailing on him, again and again. It was only when I was about to die that I realized maybe I should hypnosis and then use the Fly Honey, so he couldn't burp. But it was too late.
Tumblr media
On attempt 2, my plan worked. Nothing beats the Psi Juice, PK Freeze, and Big Bottle Rocket combo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After fighting barf incarnate, I washed up, drank some spiked coffee, found the 3rd melody, and visited the purified Threed. Time for the desert!
