autism levels, few “often get wrong” points need highlight again
[transcript: autism levels, few “often get wrong” points need highlight again]
^ masterpost by birdofmay for more basic stuff no able explain rn, like “what are levels” “how determine levels”
autism levels about how much support you need for autism specific symptoms—specifically, two autism criteria, social communication & restrictive repetitive.
not how much you feel like you struggle
levels compare you to all autistics. not allistic neurotypical nondisabled people.
level 1 mean “need support.” level 1 can struggle. unsupported burnt out level 1 can struggle a lot. unfortunately level 1 can be miserable in life.
not able finish school, not able drive, not able keep job, need help cant live independent—none of that automatic level 2 & 3. none of that automatic mean not level 1. know many people who level 1 who all that. level 2&3 people tend more common be those thing because autism symptoms cause very big struggle. but autism levels not actual about any of that.
autism levels is DSM 5 thing. country no use DSM 5 not get levels. countries use DSM 5, sometimes doctor still not assign levels, because that doctor don’t use levels, or level 1 & just leave out write.
autism level is official diagnosis thing. different from self diagnosing autism itself (which for lsn/level 1/etc have many resources about what it like, community, and like. not life risky), autism level really not same and not recommend self diagnose, to put nicely. because it about amount official support need, & limited info about level 2/3 (yes, even if look like many of us on tumblr, still very few), and because that most people never actual met entire autism spectrum met actual level 3 in person not to mention enough to be good sample size, so most have understanding of autism & autism levels that heavily lean to level 1, wrongly think any struggle w autism mean level 2 or 3. put in plainly, most you all don’t know don’t see enough about higher levels to actual label correctly (this actual include level 2/3 people—although yes personal experience, but that one experience).
many level 2 & 3 diagnose as that because we need the official support. for not die, for physical survive, and/or for basic quality of life. it not fun little label to collect to call self unfortunately
also, i say a lot of level 2/3 i abbreviate put them together because online autism community not often include both. but level 2 & 3 can be quite different quite far not “basic same thing”
autism level describe general average symptom & support needed
autism level can change over entire life, like born level 3 but adult now & level 2 or even 1(rare), or born level 1 & now adult level 2.
autism levels cannot change over hours days or short term in general. cannot “level 1 good day & level 3 bad day.” not even “last (few) month level 3 this (few) month level 1.”
autism levels not same as functioning labels. although can be use in same ableist way people use functioning labels. but fault is ableism. (remind that some people do self ID as low functioning after their diagnose and that okay)
autism level is not perfect and need improve
autism level important & needed especially for many of us who need many support or our autism symptom very big or struggle communicate.

Blossom Escape
Details:
Blossom Escape is a seasonal springtime event in Planet Lab's "Bounce Bounce Planet" game universe. After players update the game and sign up, they can select their blobbu and collect awards delivered to their in-game mail. The event corresponds with Planet Lab's "Offline Gardening Event".
Tumblr media
Plot & Gameplay:
Since corrosive creatures have been advancing aggressively and causing significant damage, barren areas are expanding throughout Bounceland/Bounce Planet. Because of this, the seeds created by Veridis Life Research Institute can't root or sprout due to insufficient nutrients. Even sample plants from the greenhouse are struggling to grow.
To resolve this dilemma and return spring to Bounceland, players must repel the corrosive creatures and collect the land's revitalization energy. Once this energy is condensed into Dewdrops of Hope, it serves as a power source for their research in the greenhouse. This research is being done so that the growth seeds they scatter across the land can flourish.
Tumblr media
Offline Gardening Event:
The "Offline Gardening Event" (also called "the flower bed event") is an in-person event hosted by Planet Lab. Friends and researchers can join forces to experience the joy of growing flowers and then picking them. Registration for the offline event requires forming a pair. Since there are a limited number of gardening plots available, each is randomly assigned on a "first come, first served" basis via an online lottery system. By completing challenges in the "Blossom Escape" event game, pairs can receive mysterious supplies in real life to help their assigned gardens grow. At the end of the event, participants can take their flowers home.
Tumblr media
Each pair receives a starter pack for their gardening, which includes tools, a manual, and flower seeds that are referred to as "Love Seeds". Throughout the event, in-person staff are on-site to support the participants in their projects. Upon completing the event, participants have the option of filling out an event survey.

Interesting Facts:
One of the supplies participants can redeem their Blossom Escape event rewards for is the use of a temporary greenhouse

Today's (3/25/2025) Episode: A Nose For News
Skye’s father had given xem a lot of advice about success growing up, and his advice after xir most recent embarrassment was blessedly simple.
“Ignore it and focus on working as hard as you can” he had told him. “As this one incident fades in people’s memory new successes, or even new failures, will quickly erase it.”
When Sigrid assigned xem to cover The Spice Festival Skye rose to the challenge, sure that the varied diet xe’d grown up on would allow xem to conquer the Spicy Curry Challenge with ease and look cool while doing it. Surely that would mute online criticism of his unfortunate photoshoot.
Unfortunately, xe was very wrong about how well he could keep his cool… literally. Xir parents had never been fans of spicy food, and the intense heat of the dish quickly overwhelmed the lightweight's refined palate. Skye left the event with a sore tongue and a broken spirit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You sent me to cover the festival because you thought I could handle it, and I failed!” Skye cried to xir boss the next day at the office “I’m so sorry! I totally understand if you need to take me off this assignment… I’m an embarrassment to the entire organization!”
“Skye… hardly anyone succeeds at the curry challenge the first time” Sigrid soothed. “Winning was never the goal; I fully expected you to fail. In our business, what matters most is compelling, relatable, content for our readers. The news isn’t about boring perfection, but interesting details.”
“I bet you set up your camera on a timer and got a fantastic shot of your mouth ablaze… didn’t you?” she continued.
Skye nodded “Sure. I had to capture my reaction, but I wasn’t planning to publish those pictures once I saw them.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Wrong!” Sigrid shook her head “That’s EXACTLY the story that is going to sell papers. If you want to succeed in this business you’ve got to develop a nose for the news kid, and that means learning about your subjects' lives. That personal interest angle is what will set your writing apart!”
Skye thought back to xir earliest successes, selling photos of their families intimate private moments to the tabloids, and nodded. “OK – I get it. So, me losing in a humiliating fashion was actually sort of a lucky break, in terms of being a compelling story?”
“That’s the spirit!” she laughed “Now get out of here and find our audience some more sparks of fascinating vulnerability; there’s a food stall that just opened in Willow Creek and I want you to go sample the menu and dig up something interesting to tell our readers about the experience.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Braving the cold to try out Willow’s Creek’s newest eatery Skye warmed up with a so-so bowl of fish chowder and learned all about the proprietor's hatred of Gummy Bear pancakes.
Her dislike of the super popular childhood classic had inspired her to attempt to find better uses for flour and sugar, which had led her to opening the very food stall Skye was eating at! Skye even managed to convince her to share with xem her recipe for cinnamon sugar pretzels. “My twisty treats are 10 times better for breakfast than that disaster of a pancake everyone can’t seem to get enough of!” she proudly exclaimed.
As xe headed back to try making the pretzels in the office test kitchen and write up xir article Skye felt bad xe was going to be giving the stall a mediocre review – a place so close to the water should be serving MUCH better fish than THAT – but felt good about ferreting out xir first secret!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I almost said no to the Nosy trait when it popped up for Skye, but then I realized it was a perfect tie-in to their work on the newspaper. It is structured a bit differently as designed than I intend to use it, as you can see from this episode.
So far, it's been a fun one; the secrets xe has learned have been really creative and enjoyable!

hi!! i'm sorry if you've gotten similar questions before, but i'm very curious. i've thought about going into writing for television but i don't know where to start, and i also don't want to cross picket lines/scab. do you have any advice?
Well, picket lines aren't a problem anymore, so...
Learn - Watch your favorite shows and movies. Break them down into structure. You can outline as you watch. Scene, Time of Day, Actions, Who Says What. Read great books, consider taking a class on TV writing at someplace reputable online (UCLA Extension is really good). Read about basic screenplay structure and format.
Write - Write the following: 2 spec pilots, 1 episode of an established show that's currently on the air. Maybe a feature. (You probably should buy Final Draft at this point)
Apply for programs: There are studio writing programs that train writers. Getting into one of these can definitely help. Here's a list: Fellowship & Writing Programs for Screenwriters Masterlist — The Writers Guild Foundation (wgfoundation.org)
Keep writing. I had a teacher tell me it took 10 scripts to get good. Have you written 10 full scripts? If no, keep writing. If yes, keep writing.
Consider moving to Los Angeles. Los Angeles is where you can get work as a Writers P.A. or Assistant. That's how you'll get to know writers. It's much harder to do that if you're not in L.A. But also keep in mind that Los Angeles is a very expensive city and you'll probably have to work a civilian job to survive until you get a showbiz one and that it can cost $1500/month just for a room in a shared apartment. So... consider...
Network with peers. Network with fellow aspiring writers you meet in your classes/online/etc. Join a writers group. Be a great person. Help each other. Hopefully you and your peers will all rise together and you'll be able to help each other out once you start getting jobs.
Keep writing. Never stop writing new things.
Rise through the ranks. Hopefully you'll get a Writers P.A. job at some point. Be a good person. Work hard. Make a good impression. Get promoted to either Writers Room Assistant or Showrunner's Assistant. Have a show that goes multiple years. Have your boss (eventually, don't rush it) read your amazing sample which she'll hopefully love. Get a script assignment in a later season. Write an amazing script. Have show go ANOTHER season, get promoted to Staff Writer. CONGRATULATIONS! You've made it.
Keep going. You need to continue to get promoted and staffed for multiple seasons to have a stable career and even then, it'll never stop being a hustle.
ALTERNATIVE PATH: Write the most amazing novel/play/youtube thing/graphic novel/podcast ever and have that optioned into a series and insist on being on staff as a condition of sale.
WARNING: Results are not guaranteed. The odds are NOT in your favor. Try at own risk. Los Angeles is expensive and breaks people. It can take 5-10 years from first script to first job. Or never. Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here. Objects in the Rearview Mirror are Farther Away Than They Appear. Read about Survivorship Bias before taking any showbiz advice from anyone.

what was ur trajectory for getting into hardcore?
Short answer:
Vocaloid -> Tumblr mutuals give me a taste of hardcore -> hardcore touhou arranges and lolicore -> hardcore autism -> 4lung links me a copy of FL studio -> Perpetuates the cycle
Long timeline below the cut:
c. 2009-2011: get into vocaloid because a high schooler TA at art camp plays World Is Mine and a few other classics, and i think it's just the coolest thing ever.
c 2012-2013: still really into vocaloid. it's my special interest. finding myself enjoying electronic stuff but not knowing anything about genres. going on youtube deep dives, listening to anything i can find reuploaded off niconico. i have a bookmark folder from around this time with a good hundred or so songs in it lol
2013-2014: introduced to things like wolfgun, pendulum, and more experimental electronic like osamu sato by tumblr mutuals. some of my mutuals make their own music. they and quite a few others i follow are into lapfox but i never went out of my way to listen. the callout drops and i have no idea what anyone is talking about but i avoid the subject.
i want to get into making music. i had a tiny bit of background when i was in elementary school, but i still struggle to read sheet music, i don't know shit about playing the piano, and i don't know what programs to use. i watch Cakewalk videos in mystified awe, unable to read anything on it. i am very bad at searching for information online.
somehow, i get myself into using UTAU, mostly just converting USTs, doing a little tuning, and trying to edit in Audacity. I start using Famitracker. While I struggle with the interface, I finally for the first time understand music. The process of synthesizing a sound makes sense for me, and I want more.
2014-2015: i'm into 8tracks and i like, like fucking, electroswing and glitch hop and shit. i'm just listening to random dancey electronic. i don't know. i liked the hotline miami soundtrack
2015: old vocaloid producers are retiring and moving on, the slump is starting to hit. i get a new computer, i deleted my old tumblr coinciding with losing most of the people i spent time with on there, i focus more on school. but i'm on twitter and soon i've remade my tumblr.
i start making new friends. i get invited to play nekodancer with one of them, and get introduced to their friend (hi ein). i think he put on like a goreshit song or a touhou arrange or something but it just really cracked my brain open.
i get into touhou, i get into touhou arranges, and this is when i meet gabber and breakcore. i'm also pretty into lolicore but i have a hard time talking about it due to it being called lolicore (oh, how time changes a person)
2016: at this point, hardcore is my special interest. i'm collecting things in youtube playlists, i'm getting really granular about genres. i'm slurping shit off of lolicore.ch
i want to make hardcore but i don't know how. i try doing things in sunvox to no avail. i try playing around in audacity to no avail. but the hardcore spirit is within me
additional events of note:
2016 or 2017: i don't know when or how i ended up finding out about 4lung, probably a twitter mutual. i like her stuff and she puts out a lot of it. the fanbase is friendly.
if you ask, 4lung will send you a pastebin with a link to FL studio, sample packs, and tips on getting started making breakcore. so i get FL studio. i'm still busy at school, but i make some practice tracks for assignments.
2017: i make the first E-R0 MAID.f track.
and then i just kept going. my music-related special interests wax and wane with my ability to focus on them compared to other things going on in my life but they never really fade completely. in early 2023 i started djing so that's brought it back.
so yeah that's roughly my trajectory thanks for listening

Evan Urquhart at Assigned Media:
The highly contentious issue of detransition has become, in recent years, a spur for increased restrictions on trans people’s healthcare. Among the most contentious questions is how frequently young people who once identified as trans decide to detransition, with activists promoting high estimates and the mainstream endorsing the view that detransition is relatively infrequent. The rapacious appetite of anti-trans activists and the journalists who love them for any sort of numbers that can be used to exaggerate the rate of detransition had resulted in studies on discontinuation of treatments such as hormone therapy having been increasingly used as stand-ins for detransition rates, including in some mainstream news outlets. Although this conflation of discontinuation with detransition has never been never scientifically justified, a new study in the Journal of Adolescent Health casts further doubt on efforts to conflate discontinuation with detransition. It found 16 percent of trans people discontinued treatment (typically hormone therapy), but that 80 percent of those who did continued to identify as transgender.
The study’s first author is Kinnon McKinnon, who has become one of the leading researchers on detransition. “This is one of the first community studies to offer preliminary insights into the diversity of TGD young people in Canada and the US, including the wide variety of reasons that a minority of youth and young adults may discontinue gender-affirming medical treatments,” McKinnon told Assigned Media via email.
Reached using a combination of online outreach measures, the study surveyed 9,674 LGBTQ+ young people in Canada (75.5 percent) and the US (24.5 percent) on their experiences, with a focus on experiences of family and community support for their identities. Of the larger group of respondents, 731 young people reported ever having started gender-affirming medical treatments, with 16 percent of them reporting stopping or reversing treatment. (Sixteen percent is higher than most estimates of detransition rates, but lower than the high estimate for discontinuation, 30 percent, based on a study of prescriptions for those accessing gender-affirming care through the US military.)
Unlike earlier studies of discontinuation, this study asked participants about their reasons for discontinuing treatment and found that detransition was far from the most common. In fact, over one third (37 percent) of those who reported discontinuing treatment told researchers they wished they hadn’t stopped. Meanwhile, 32 percent described a shift in gender identity as having been a motivating factor. The most commonly given reason for discontinuing treatment was health issues, named as a factor by 37 percent of those who discontinued treatment. If a significant percentage of those who discontinue gender-affirming treatments wish they hadn’t, why are they discontinuing? Hints to possible answers to that question can be found in the study, which found that espousing a Christian identity and growing up Christian was significantly associated with discontinuing treatment, while having a supportive family and household income above $100,000 were both inversely correlated. This suggests that trans people with social support and financial security are less likely to discontinue treatment.
Several other factors that were correlated or inversely correlated with discontinuing treatment, including nonbinary identity.
A new study in the Journal of Adolescent Health reveals that discontinuing medical transition treatments is not the same as detransitioning. It revealed that 16% of trans people discontinued treatment, but in that same sample, 80% of them continued to identify as trans.

Daily Check-in Septmeber 14th, 2023 🎀
This was a good day. Busy, absolutely, but good nonetheless. Had a meeting with my 1st dietetics mentor, and she was absolutely the sweetest and sent me an email after our meeting about the projects she wants me to work on currently, as her mentee. Cannot wait to meet my 2nd mentor next week! Also, I got asked to go into work, so I pulled a 6.5-hour shift when I didn't need to, but I need money so it's worth it.
🩷 What I Ate Today -
Breakfast - tuna w mayo and crackers
Lunch - iced coffee, chicken parm, noodles, one garlic bread, some asparagus
Dinner - chik fil a sandwich, medium fries, polynesian sauce
Extra - 3 more coffees in addition to the one I had at lunch
I am overconsuming caffiene so much right now, but I have been understandably so tired, so it's definitely helping me get through my days and weeks right now. I also genuinely enjoy the taste of the coffee I make, so that's always fun. I did just but a matcha set online, so hopefully, I can learn to make my own matcha and cut back on coffee for a bit.
🩷 Personal Achievements -
Attended RD meeting
Had my therapy appointment
Planned out part of my upcoming week/weekend
Studied Japanese for ~15 min
I did not accomplish almost anything school related, but that's okay because I'll have the time to do it all this weekend after work both days.
🩷 Todo for Today -
take Fitness For Health and Sport lecture notes
call embroidery place about dropping off my cooking class's chef coat
Video call with my boyfriend
Complete my Sample nutrition log assignment + submit it (if I have the time)
Study Japanese 10+ minutes
Because of how busy my schedule has been, I've been studying Japanese daily about 10 to 15 minutes a day. I'm starting to remember the hiragana characters pretty well so I've started jotting down vocabulary in a mini notebook.
🩷 Song of the Day - Social Path by Stray Kids, LiSa
This song is on repeat right now. I've always loved both their music and now that they've collabed, I'm on cloud 9. They're voices all sound so good in this song.
That's all for now! Will not be updating the 15th due to working the night shift at my job but will update for the 15th and 16th on Saturday night!
Til next time, lovelies 🩷

Something you should know about me is that I can go rather far to commit to a bit.
I saw this video recently and was inspired for my capstone project (Statistics Major)
By recently I mean last night at 8pm (20:00) with my presentation of this project at 9:30 am today. However I decided it was too great to pass up so hear I am.
My presentation was on bootstrap stats which is used to increase sample size when otherwise unable to. This is supposed to give more accurate sample statistics.
First things first: Acquiring the Spaghettios A-Z
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the ones he bought in the video were not in stock so I got these. As you can see these also have numbers. So I had to sort them both alphabetically and remove the meatballs and numbers. This process took about 2 hours with 2 people (me doing 4 cans my partner doing 2)
Tumblr media
This is what my spreadsheet looked like at the end
Tumblr media
I then went online and got the full movie script for Shrek that lacked image descriptions and who said what (aka just the dialog).
Using R studio I found the amount of each letter in the Shrek script.
A 2061, B 431, C 459, D 925, E 3208, F 504, G 691, H 1663, I 1844, J 62, K 535, L 1225, M 717, N 1771, O 2678, P 358, Q 37, R 1511, 2 1600, T 2552, U 1142, V 242, W 779, X 20, Y 1046, Z 9.
I then found the averages for each letter in my 6 cans combined (rounded up). From this I divided the Shrek script by the cans to find how many cans it would take per letter. Then I found the letter with the highest amount of cans needed and thus had my answer (268).
Now I did the bootstrapping. This is basically taking random numbers from my dataset (with replacement) and assigning them to random letters in a new row. I did this and created 3 new datasets. One with 120 entries per letter, one with 1,200, and the last one with 12,000. I then repeated the process that I did with the first can to find the amount of cans needed (256, 268, and 256 respectively).
So from this I can conclude that it would take 256-268 cans to recreate the Shrek script.

Laundry Soap Wholesale: Cost-Effective Cleaning Solutions
Fundraising can often feel like a challenging task, requiring significant effort with uncertain results. However, one of the most effective and hassle-free ways to raise funds is through an easy laundry soap fundraiser. Instead of selling typical fundraiser items like chocolates or wrapping paper, organizations can offer a product that every household uses—laundry detergent!
This unique fundraising approach ensures a steady demand, making it an excellent choice for schools, sports teams, and community groups looking to maximize their earnings with minimal effort.
Why Choose a Laundry Soap Fundraiser?
Unlike other fundraisers, detergent fundraising provides a practical, high-value product that people are already purchasing regularly. This means you’re not convincing supporters to spend extra on something they don’t need—you’re simply offering them a more convenient way to buy an everyday essential.
Here’s why this method is gaining popularity:
Essential Household Product: Everyone does laundry, making detergent a necessity.
Affordable & High-Margin Sales: Fundraisers can sell large, high-quality detergent bottles at competitive prices, ensuring strong earnings per sale.
No Perishability Issues: Unlike food-based fundraisers, the detergent doesn’t spoil, making storage and distribution easy.
Hassle-Free Selling Process: Supporters recognize the value immediately, leading to faster, easier sales.
How to Organize a Hassle-Free Detergent Fundraising Campaign
To ensure your hassle-free detergent fundraising campaign is a success, follow these simple steps:
1. Partner with a Reliable Fundraising Supplier
Work with a supplier that offers bulk detergent options at discounted rates, allowing your group to make a profit on each sale.
2. Set Your Fundraising Goals

Feathered Folk Update #4
You can now find my store at FeatheredFolkCo on Etsy, and my TikTok and Instagram pages @/featheredfolkco.
As you know, I've been working on setting up a small etsy shop where I can sell cards featuring my own illustrations of Australian native birds. As per my last post, I've actually finished setting up the shop, and have begun to work on some social media marketing. Though I'll be taking a break, this project has been quite the personal learning experience. This project has shown me just how much work is actually involved in setting up even a very small online store like this.
Before making my last update, I had been experimenting with prototypes for the cards. by getting samples printed at Officeworks.

Above is an image of my two samples. Both are printed on 200 gsm paper, with the left being on off-white with a glossy coat, and the right on uncoated plain white paper. I ultimately wasn't happy with either print. I liked the look of the illustration on the left print, with the gloss coat and off-white tone, but the coating also made it so that the inside was difficult to write in. Ink didn't dry properly, and it was difficult to use pencil. I felt that this really just defeated the purpose of a greeting card. The right hand card didn't have this problem, but it was also too flimsy.
I decided eventually to print at 300 gsm, with uncoated white paper, even though the cost of printing was slightly higher. I also reformatted the information on the back, as I felt there was something off about the design.
In the end, this is what I ended up with:

Below is my initial etsy store listing, with the description, which I made at the end of last week after I received my final prints. There were some additional, unexpected costs, such as a $20 store fee and a 30 cent listing fee that I had to pay, on top of the cost of printing the cards. It also took a little while to find the time to process the identity checks when updating the shop.

I had only uploaded images of the digital designs, and eventually felt that this was an inadequate representation of the product, especially for a public-facing post. I later took the product photos that can be seen previously, and added them to the listing, including an image of the cards in their packaging.

I also went on to create some social media marketing for the listing.
Though I had plans to create and upload a number of TikToks and instagram reels, the prospects of creating multiple short-form videos, in addition to the work of designing and prototyping the cards, became a little strenuous. I had a lot of time constraints between juggling work and three other uni assignments - two of which were due on the same date as this one will be. I was also limited in what I could do, by the wait times for all of the print orders. Though I will consider this short-form video content, and will hold onto the TikTok account, I decided to try to work with what I had just for this assignment. I created two slideshow posts for instagram using the product photos I had taken. One announced the release of the cards on etsy, and the other listed the designs featured in the pack. I also added the posts to my instagram story.

Additionally, I made an announcement on this tumblr account here, making use of more widely-seen hashtags that would allow me to not only organise my post in my blog archive, but also let the post be seen more widely. I tried to do that on this post as well. I also uploaded a notice on the BCM discord to reach a more local audience.

Though I didn't make any sales in this time span, I did manage to get some engagement with my store in the form of shop visits and views. I believe most of these came from word of mouth. I also gained two 'admirers' in the short time I had the shop up and running, who are people on etsy that follow my shop for updates.

Sahar! Congrats on your internship! Are you a communications/journalism student? I was actually a journalism student before I dropped out of my old college 4 years ago and I just got back into college last year. I'm a bit embarrassed to share this bc I feel so old. But I'm also trying to get an internship at my fav media as well.
If you don't mind, can you share how you applied to that internship? What did you include in your portfolio? And do you have some tips? Thanks in advance Sahar! 🫶🏼
hiii my love sorry for getting back to you so late :,) you are right! i have a bachelors in journalism and coms and i’m getting a masters rn in media production,, i actually applied online i sent them my resume and two writing samples (i used pieces i wrote for previous internships)!!
dont feel embarrassed it is actually so inspiring that you got back to college rn, studying isn’t linear and it’s more than okay to come back after some time has passed, if anything it shows that you have a true passion for the field and that you persevered to acquire more knowledge in it,,, i think what helped me get this internship is having prior experience in various media, i’d say apply EVERYWHERE and even if you do an internship just for a month, it will be a good experience and it will show you different work environments and how each team works and handles news. as for building your portfolio i keep my favorite pieces in a doc, they’re mostly school assignments in which i got to do thorough political analysis because that’s what i like writing about most aksjjs try to get your articles published too, send them to newspapers that hire independent journalists or freelancers, it will also be a good start
i tried to give u general tips because i’m sure our media landscapes are very different but just keep going!!! the more experience you acquire the easier it’d be to join your dream media anddd i’m very proud of you, for the record, it’s truly an amazing thing to not give up on your dream. i’m sure you’ll become a great journalist ❤️
