#it will keep me stuck here even longer but#i am so tempted#i don't even have to graduate from that like. what if i just signed up and took the courses i'm interested in#go sit in the lectures without taking the exams in the end#it's not like i need the title anyway i already have one BA#who cares if i finish a 2nd one or not#it would be purely for personal interest#airenyah plappert#yeah it's one of those nights where i'm having a crisis about my future career#i need to go work in theater and/or film so fucking bad#that's the only thing so far that has felt SO RIGHT#like dgmw i have fun working with adobe programs and i have a huge passion for language and culture#but neither graphic design as a job#not what we've been doing in my translation classes#has really called out to me as a career#on the contrary. it all makes me wanna scream "I DON'T FUCKING WANNA BE DOING THIS AS A JOB THIS IS A HOBBY TO ME''#but when i'm at rehearsals? even when i'm super overwhelmed bc i'm doing the shitty assistant director's job as a fucking hospitantin#it just doesn't feel like work to me at all like. i constantly have to remind myself that i have to say things like ''i'm at work''#or ''i can't i have to work'' bc i keep forgetting that it is in fact work#i have so much fun making sure everything is in order and i love taking care of my actors#and i'm GOOD at it. it's easy for me#god can june just fucking come around i just wanna start rehearsals already#screaming into the void

I fear that culturally we're too anti-intellectual for this conversation, but I wish we could talk about how academics are in a similar position to writers/actors/musicians in that we do all the labor for institutions like universities AND academic presses and do not get the pay, treatment, or residuals that we deserve while it all gets funneled to the higher up admin and for-profit entities
#how long can we say 'email the author of a paper if you dont have access to a journal ' before we finally grapple with the fact#that scholars do not own or financially benefit from their work#and in fact often have to PAY for a greater number of people to have access to their work through open access#also I do not think that anyone who does not work in academia has any idea just hot little professors/instructors/lecturers/etc are paid#like as an undergrad I would have guessed that faculty make low six figures#and that felt very reasonable to me#now that i'm a phd candidate i know thats a DREAM number that most people will never see#we talk about how little public school teachers are paid and most faculty make less#if youre a college student think about how much you pay in tuition and know that your teacher would be lucky to make half that in a year#as an adjunct i taught two sections of 30 students each and made less than 4000 TOTAL for the semester#even as a phd candidate at an R1 I make roughly 15 percent of the tuition paid for each class I teach#and that's as instructor of record. not a teaching assistant#anyway there is no separate struggle. all labor is exploited under capitalism

late night pokemon trainer sona thoughts
#cosmo rambles#i wanna work on hazel's time in paldea and like#hazel is never the main protagonist of any of my pokemon adventures like#she was the protag in pokemon B2W2. she was the second hero of unova. she has kyurem. she beat up ghetsis. thats done and dusted#the thing is now every time she ends up in a new region she gets caught up in whatevers going on there because bad timing every time#so the protagonist there is always either the canon protag OR somebody else...#in the case of paldea? what i want to do? hop. hop as the protagonist. hear me out#hes going to paldea to study because hes going to work towards becoming a pokemon prof with sonia#conveniently sonia is going to brush up on her studies and do some teaching and leon and hazel tag along to do the same#sonia is teaching while leon and hazel are doing lectures and assisting the professors there#but! hop gets to be the actual protag here. he leaves zamazenta at home so it can continue to protect the region along with gloria n zacian#but i think hop is a great character and id like to put him in that role where hes making friends and doing hero stuff!!!#hop can find his treasure!!!! i think he deserves that especially as he's still figuring himself out#meanwhile leon and hazel are very concerned about these kids and are absolutely at this point chaperoning for them#they bump into clavell who's doing the same thing and very exaggeratedly pretend they dont know him#i think this would take place in the Scarlet universe and hop would get koraidon. but i still want an excuse to give hazel a miraidon.#and then uh. yknow. everyone experiences the horrors#but also leon and hazel sharing a dorm room together while theyre at the school. smiles to myself.#hazel is also here because she wants to challenge the paldea league for her badge collection#leon wants of course to explore and challenge strong trainers and would probably take nemona under his wing#hazel looking at arven and weeping a little bit. though i also see her trying to keep an eye on penny as well out of concern#im also not letting go of my kalos related headcanons for SV even if we still ... havent seen confirmation#i strongly believe in there being a connection... game freak please.. .. ...#im so sorry again to whoever is reading through my tags. i am full of thoughts so these get very long LOL;;;;; thank u for reading though#OH RIGHT additionally sonia being there to study the terastal phenomenon as she's looking into the correlation between it and dynamaxing#when i hit on kalos sonia and hop are also going to continue the studies into the connection between all of these phenomena#which i want to really focus on when i hit on them all going to pasio because i love the story there of everything being connected#so sonia being involved a bit in the area zero stuff would be fun....

I don't know how much longer I can work at a Christian university before I lose my fucking mind completely I have got to get the FUCK out of here bro
#The academic culture here is atrocious and the way they want me to teach is so not my style#ENG comp one classes with 100 kids should be illegal#I get graders and assistants but it's still hard to give good feedback and help any of them on a personal level#Also my classroom style is not lecture heavy but I've had to adapt bc of the class size#Some students and staff are sweet and not hateful zealots but others are evangelicals with 0 brain cells#Like. I shouldn't have to tell a student that yes they can use the Bible as a source if it's relevant but it cannot be their only source#You need. Peer reviewed research.#The approach I usually take is 'hey so it's called faith because you don't need proof to be devoted to God. But in this paper I need you#To rely on what you can see and provide evidence for' and that usually works but I am so tired. Of even having to address it#I've been applying for jobs at local community colleges but I keep getting turned down#Maybe it's because I don't have enough professional development in my resume I don't fucking know#I just think I will snap someday if I keep working here#I've already located the like. Three gay people in the department and made friends thank God#Keeps me sane#But fuck bro#I'm so depressed#I don't feel like I'm doing good by the students#I don't feel like I'm intellectually stimulated. Or using my talents#I don't feel good about this job#And they pay like garbage#Some of the students are sweet and want to learn and clearly get something out of my class but many do not.#Woof

actually really like the idea of gorou’s pet peeve being messy people. he does take good care of his own tail and in his idle animation he’s disciplined enough to (almost) not touch the butterfly flapping at him so i assume he’s disciplined enough to keep his area tidy.
now imagine gorou needing to work with a reader who is messy-organised. by that i mean they’re messy to the world but reader knows and has everything where it needs to be. how’d do you think he’ll handle that? — @milkstore
Hmm... while he would go lighter on them, I can still see him encouraging them to be more organized. His reason being that just because the reader knows where everything is, that doesn't mean that anyone else does. If there ever came a need for something the reader has, but the reader is not present to give it, this could put everyone in a tight spot. They'll be forced to rummage through reader's mess to find what they're looking for with no guarantee they'll find it. Who knows what can go wrong during that wasted time!
