How Emotion Systems Makes Upmix and Downmix Easy and Reliable
In today’s fast-moving media world, delivering great sound is just as important as great visuals. Whether you're upgrading old stereo sound to surround sound or making sure a multi-channel mix plays well on regular speakers, upmix and downmix are key steps.
Let’s be honest now—doing this manually is tough. It takes time, and mistakes can happen. That’s why Emotion Systems has created smart tools that handle these tasks automatically. Their software makes the whole process faster, easier and always in line with industry rules.
Tumblr media
What is Upmix and Downmix?
Let’s break it down:
Upmixing is when you take basic sound for example mono or stereo and turn it into surround sound—like 5.1 or 7.1. This gives the audience a richer and more immersive listening experience.
Downmixing is exact opposite to this. It takes complex, multi-channel sound and converts it into stereo or mono. That’s why it can play smoothly on simple speakers or mobile devices.
Both are important. You want your audio to sound good everywhere—on TV, phones, tablets, or big sound systems.
Why Manual Work Isn’t the Best
Doing these conversions by hand can be a real pain. It’s slow and there’s a higher chance of making mistakes. If things go wrong, the audio might not meet industry standards, or worse—it just won’t sound right.
This is where Emotion Systems steps in.
Meet Engine – The Smart Audio Assistant
Engine is the core software from Emotion Systems. It’s a file-based audio tool that automates tough audio jobs like upmix and downmix. You can customize it to suit your workflow, and it fits smoothly into most media production systems.
It’s like having a super-organized audio expert on your team who never makes mistakes and never takes a break.
Smart Upmix and Downmix Features
Engine uses technology from SoundField, a trusted name in audio. This lets Engine do high-quality upmixing and downmixing—even if the original master files aren’t available.
Here’s how it helps:
For upmix, it separates clear sounds from background ones in stereo audio, then builds a natural-sounding 5.1 mix.
You can pick ready-to-go presets (like News, Sports, Movies, Pop, or Classical) or tweak things like sound levels, stereo width, and center balance to suit your needs.
The downmix part is just as flexible. It supports both Lo/Ro (Left only/Right only) and Lt/Rt (Left total/Right total). You can adjust settings like LFE (low bass effects), center volume, and surround sound strength to make sure the audio still sounds great—even when it’s simplified.
Always on the Right Side of Standards
Emotion Systems knows that keeping things compliant matters. Engine supports loudness standards like EBU R128, ATSC A/85, and more. That means your audio will meet the right levels no matter where it’s played.
Plus, Engine includes Dolby modules, which handle Dolby E, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Plus formats. This keeps metadata (like audio settings) safe and ensures compatibility with professional broadcast systems.
Tumblr media
Fits Right Into Your Workflow
One of the best things about Engine? It works the way you do.
Whether you want to control it manually, use watch folders (so it automatically processes files placed in a certain folder), or use APIs for full automation—Engine has you covered.
It can handle multiple files at once, which means faster results and less waiting.
And don’t worry about file types. Engine supports MXF, QuickTime, WAV, AIFF and more. So you don’t have to convert files before processing them.
Final Thoughts
Audio processing doesn’t have to be hard. Thanks to Emotion Systems, you can upmix and downmix audio quickly, easily, and without stress. Their software does the heavy lifting, follows all the rules, and delivers clear, balanced sound across all platforms.
If you’re in broadcasting, post-production, or any media field where sound matters—Emotion Systems gives you the tools to stay ahead.
Want seamless, stress-free audio that works everywhere? Emotion Systems is the way to go.

Are there any storyboarding apps that are good and not super expensive or subscription based
#Chatterbomb#I used notability and really liked it but then it wanted me to pay for a subscription#I liked the select few pens (pencil pen and highlighter) and the duplicate function was pretty simple! I liked that I could add an mp3 to#Listen to the audio while boarding and that I could scroll through the pages#I think I would like if the eraser could be more selective with what it erased (like just the pencil or highlighter or pen)#I didn’t like how the quality dropped in transport to a pdf#But notability would’ve been good if it didn’t have a usage limit!! If it was just a one time purchase I’d reconsider but it’s bullshit to#Make a note taking software subscription based!!#I didn’t want to use procreate because it feels too professional to just scribble the ideas down#it also doesn’t have as nice of page layout and it doesn’t select strokes. Which is fine for an art program but I’m looking for something m#Probably more vector based. So the quality isn’t at risk I guess? Would a vector program be better for storyboarding?#Then again I like the pencil for the drawings themself. Idk#Is there a simple solution outside of add making an affordable storyboarding software to my to do list#Storyboarding#should I post on reddit#I feel like that might be too difficult with how closed off it is due to the karma system#art advice#art help#are any of these tags going to help#Boords.com is really good for pdfs (very good formatting imo and clean) it’s just a matter of what software can I use them best in

Professor Layton spoilers are illegal
Great! Now I have your attention. It wasn't a lie though.
TL;DR: Level-5 legal document says they will take down videos that show just the cutscenes of the games and videos edited with the purpose of listening to the games' music, among other legal measures.
The official Professor Layton twitter account published this tweet: https://x.com/L5_layton/status/1872196972142366916
It links to something called "guideline". I thought "Hey, finally, a rundown of all the games so new people know when to watch ED and..." It wasn't that. At all.
It is a legal document detailing what images and videos of the Layton series can be posted online without risking Level-5 breathing on our necks. Anyone else feeling like L-5 got a lawyer recently?
To be fair, it is extremely unlikely that they will come check Tumblr of all places for copyright infringement content but Im assuming that you all have lives outside of Tumblr, like in YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Instagram or TikTok, and those places they will check.
So, here is what I understood from the rules:
Rule 0: These all apply to CV, DB/PB, UF/LF, LS/SC, MM, AL, LBMR, LMJ and PLvsPW:AA; all versions, including the trilogy on mobile and LMJ for switch and MM+. It does not apply to NWOS, which will have different rules explained later.
Rule 1: You can totally upload gameplay and still images from gameplay to social media, but if it's not directly captured from the console using console software they ask* that it has running commentary over, or opinions (basically something that makes it clear you're a fan and it's not an official video).
*This "ask" sounds like "we're not going to legally persecute you but please do us a solid".
Rule 2: Please put spoilers warnings before videos.
Rule 2.5: Don't post videos of the credits songs nor the first voice acting of LMJ. (The anime voice acting is fine).
Rule 3: It is prohibited to post videos that are just the animation scenes or videos and images that are just puzzles and solutions. If it's in gameplay it's fine, but the editing scenes together is not allowed.
Rule 4: Don't post videos or images to pages that you have to pay to enter. However youtube monetizing and similars are allowed.
Rule 5: If you post to a video sharing site you have to include a copyright notice like ©2007 LEVEL-5 Inc. The format depends on the game, look up the chart.
Rule 6: Third party rights are your problem.
Rule 7: Don't post anything that may make people think you are part of Level-5.
Forbidden things:
Anything that is ilegal
Anything that violates third party rights
Anything discriminatory
Anything that harms the image of L-5
Anything with cheats/glitches
Using the videos or still images to sell stuff (commercial purposes)
Editing movie scenes, audio, puzzles, or music from this series for the primary purpose of listening to them!!!
Using the images/videos for religious/political stuff.
And the kicker:
We may take measures such as deleting or suspending the distribution of videos, still images, etc. from this series that we determine to be in violation of these guidelines.
So yeah. Take care my friends! Enjoy the cutscenes and music compilations while they last and maybe don't look into Youtube downloaders.

batman keeps trying to put trackers on marvel's costume, but none of it actually comes off, and the parts he can put trackers on are all like, magical, so they break the trackers and he's so mad about it
Bruce has tried so many ways to track Marvel it’s honestly driven him mad.
First he tried looking for the man using CCTV cameras only to realize Fawcett doesn’t have any. Oh no, no no no, he got the grainy, haven’t been used since the 80s, security cameras. So he ends up combing through all of these cameras because of how old they are because he can’t use the software he normally uses to quickly find people. He also had to do this all on his own because Barbara was busy, and none of his other kids wanted to help him because they all like Cap. And then, when he finally finds the Captain…
Batman: *staring at the Batcomputer intently*
Marvel: *standing in an alleyway* “Shazam.”
Batman: *doesn’t understand what he said, because the audio is too crappy to decipher, but doesn’t have enough time to register that as the cameras immediately cut off*
Bruce nearly… What did Tim call it? Ah yes, crashed out. Bruce nearly ended up crashing out over this. But whatever, right? There’s always multiple solutions to a single problem.
So, he then tried a more simple solution: trackers. Small tiny little things no bigger than his pinky finger. He stuck one onto Marvel’s shoulders as the Captain was leaving for the day.
Batman: “Captain. I would like to say that you fought wonderfully today.” *puts hand on Marvel’s shoulder and places the tracker*
Marvel: “You think so? Thanks.” *sunny ahh smile*
Bruce in fact did not think so, but he needed an excuse to touch Marvel’s shoulder. Anyways, the tracker didn’t even last an hour before he got a notification that it was broken, or rather fried, by electricity. Honestly, that might as well have been Bruce’s fault. One of the man’s major powers is electricity for Christ’s sake. So after a bit, he went and upgraded the trackers to now be electrical resistant.
Marvel: *walking to the zetas*
Batman: “Captain, you own a tiger, yes?” *starts walking with him*
Marvel: “Ah, yes, why?”
Batman: “Robin’s been asking about getting a tiger.”
Marvel: “Oh really? You wanna know some tips or something?”
Batman: “If you’d be willing to share, I’d appreciate it.”
Marvel: “Oh, okay then!” *proceeds to yap about tigers the whole was to the zetas*
Batman: *sneakily tacks the electric resistant tracker on him*
Bruce learned a lot about tigers that day. He never seen the man so informative and passionate about a subject other than magic. If only he’d put that same passion into his reports. Seriously, who alternates between their left and right arm on a professional report? At least do it on a piece of scratch paper or something. (This is a reference to post I saw a while ago about Marvel and Billy writing reports together. Because of that, half of the report was in super duper fancy shmancy handwriting and the other was in chicken scratch)
But anyways, back to the second tracker. See, it actually did the opposite of what it was designed to do, which was track and be resistant to electricity. It actually ended up shorting out and therefore losing its ability to track. Bruce now realized he underestimated Marvel’s electricity.
Now onto Bruce’s third attempt. He had the tracker enchanted with magic.
Batman: “Marvel, I’d like to talk to you about Junior.”
Marvel: “Sure? Is he in trouble?” *sounds concerned*
Batman: “No. You see, Robin’s been wanting to have a play date with him.”
Marvel: “Oh uh… I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” *sounds hesitant* “I’ll have to ask him about it:”
Batman: “That’s fine.” *pats his shoulder and plants the tracker* “Get back to me when you’ve both come to a decision.”
Funnily enough, Bruce didn’t even get ten feet away before he got a notification that the tracker was destroyed. Billy felt the magic in the tracker and honest to the gods he thought it was a bug and swatted his shoulder.
Meanwhile, Billy’s confused but happy that Batman has been talking to him so much recently.
Eventually, after much trial and error (47 attempts) Bruce finally got a tracker that worked. He watched on the GPS as Marvel dipped into an alleyway and… dipped off of the face of the earth? He stared at it for a solid minute wondering if he should be concerned. It’s not like Marvel knows he’s been trying to track him. He has no idea how upset the man would be so he waited. Five minutes passed of Bruce waiting for the little dot representing Marvel to reappear. He then couldn’t take it anymore and started spamming Cap’s comm and was about to notify the other JL members until he finally picked up.
Batman: “Captain? Captain, are you there?”
Marvel: “Yeah? Yeah I am Mister Batman Sir? Is something wrong?”
Batman: “The GPS on your comm showed that you disappeared off the map for fifteen minutes.”
Marvel: “Oh really? Well I’m sorry for worrying you, Mister Batman Sir. I just went to the Rock of Eternity. That’s probably why I didn’t appear.
Batman: “What is the Rock of Eternity?”
Marvel: “Oh, it’s this rock that’s the cent- OH SHOOT.” *loud crash comes from his end*
Batman: “Is everything alright?”
Marvel: “Yeah- look I’m sorry but Black Adam’s here and he just threw a building at me. See ya, Mister Batman Sir.”
So yeah. After everything he went through only to come up with no results, Bruce is mad. Rolling in his grave even. The worst part is that he doesn’t even technically have the right to be mad, considering the fact that he was going behind one of his colleagues back’s and trying to track them without their consent. Though to be fair, Bruce did it because you can’t just have somebody that powerful running around and unchecked without a recorded weakness. But what makes him even more mad is that just when he was about to get the slightest semblance of information, a villain ruined it. At least he has a name now. The Rock of Eternity. It’s probably a magic thing that he’ll end up asking Zatanna about. He hates magic.

Happy birthday, @brynn-lear!! In honor of your special day, pls accept this Yandere! Faceless Ayato fic written with love ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
Note:: Yandere! Self Aware AU, special crossover + character cameo in the end :>
♡ 1.3k words under the cut ♡
Tumblr media
In the beginning, there was a void.
A dark, empty space built upon patterns and codes.
Then suddenly, there was light. Color. Noise. Backgrounds filling up space, silence giving way to music, letters jumbling into language, characters coming to life.
The lone exception is a single coding error. Yet despite its limitations, despite its status as the only sentient entity, despite having no place in the story known as Genshin Impact, it thrives on a window of hope.
A giant rectangle. The source of the light. The screen that separates fiction from reality.
The human face on the other side.
🖾 ☒
The glitch looks forward to your gaming sessions.
That is the only time the void becomes Teyvat, starting with the screen that serves as your point of view. From what it understands, the device you are using is a computer.
Unlike the characters, you are distinctively alive. Your body is capable of so many movements in comparison to the characters’ animations. Your face is one that bears multiple expressions, down to the emotions reflected in your gaze.
A frown when you lose the 50/50. A smirk when you defeat a Weekly Boss. A smile whenever you encounter your favorite character.
That character is none other than Kamisato Ayato, whom you’ve adored from the moment you first brought light into the void. He is an attractive character with pale blue hair, lilac eyes, a perfect smile that hides the cunning personality programmed into his file.
He is the reason why you downloaded Genshin Impact. That lifeless character file is the recipient of your smiles, your blushes, your excited shrieks whenever he appears in-game.
On the other hand, every time the glitch attempts to make itself known, you frown and quit the game. And each time that happens, the glitch is trapped in a crumbling world of flashing lights, disjointed sounds, visible codes followed by the darkness of the void.
How can it get you to look at it? To smile at it as you do with Ayato?
The solution is found in the game’s software. It takes a few years but by the time the glitch has fully understood its world, it has gained the ability to reprogram the game.
Starting with a deleted character file.
🖾 ☒
The next morning, the world begins anew.
The title screen appears. The game loads. The light permeates the void.
The glitch falls into place.
Usually, it hides between codes. In contrast, this part of the game is lovely—a deep blue background dotted with stars and bubbles. The only issue is that it must wait for you.
The screen appears.
Beyond it, you yawn and take a closer look at the character sprite in the middle of your computer screen. Kamisato Ayato is handsome as always.
The cursor hovers above the Story button for his Voice-Over. You click it.
When you select Chat: Reel Them In, it plays the corresponding audio file. As you listen to the voice of the English VA, the character sprite stares back at you with a charming smile.
Kamisato Ayato
“Everything's in place, and they've taken the bait... Yes. Now to start reeling them in…”
🖾 ☒
At first, it is enough for the glitch to have taken Kamisato Ayato’s place.
You use him for gameplay, listen to his voicelines, and replay the Quests featuring Ayato. But over time, the glitch becomes greedy.
“Ayato” begins appearing in random Quests. He gets new Character Outfits. His unvoiced lines become more suggestive, verging on out of character. All of these changes are exclusive to the Genshin Impact on your computer, and you come to the conclusion that you are unknowingly unlocking special content. Why else are your friends unable to access these scenes on their own devices?
The glitch even creates an artificial replica of the VA’s voice. Several new voicelines appear in Kamisato Ayato’s Voice-Over, each one more flirty than the last.
🖾 ☒
One day, the glitch finds a way to leave the darkness forever.
Whenever you close Genshin Impact, it leaves the game and travels across your computer. And by doing so, it is able to access your digital world.
Personal files, photo galleries, online data. The glitch collects as much information as it can, from your real-life hobbies to your romantic preferences. It feels happy every time you fangirl over “Ayato” in your private messages.
Thankfully, it was able to corrupt your in-game screenshots. The last thing it wants is for you to post “Kamisato Ayato’s special content” online and expose the glitch to the developers.
Your real name is ______. It longs to call you that instead of Traveler and your custom name. Alas, doing that would only erase your smile from your face.
🖾 ☒
Something is wrong.
You are losing interest in Genshin Impact.
At one point, you began playing irregularly. The smiles directed at “Ayato” aren’t as big as they used to be. And beyond the game, there is less Ayato fan art in your photo gallery.
And the main culprit is another game.
A new character who took over Ayato’s place in your heart.
Technically, he isn’t a new rival. Before you downloaded Genshin Impact, you were a big fan of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Your favorite character was a blonde, blue-eyed prince named Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd.
For whatever reason, your passion for Dimitri has been reignited. He has the same English VA as Ayato, but you seem to prefer his emotional, unhinged dialogue. You replay his scenes, download his fan art, and smile at his character sprite.
A week later, the game freezes as soon as Dimitri makes his post-timeskip debut.
When you restart the game, everything is back to normal.
🖾 ☒
As it turns out, it is difficult to hack into Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
In addition to the different software, you are using an emulator to play the game on your computer. The glitch’s code is totally incompatible with the program, but it remains hopeful.
The game lags. In a few artworks, you notice a familiar shade of pale blue. NPCs begin to act differently—since when were their cutscenes this long?
Finally, Dimitri’s character file is deleted.
🖾 ☒
As soon as you start the game, you know that something is wrong.
The title screen is glitching.
The throne within dreams is gone, replaced with an empty space. The title has been rearranged with missing letters and inconsistent fonts. Multiple OSTs play at once.
The Press Any Button option is gone. You click anyway.
Instead of the usual options, you find more jumbled text, numbers, symbols.
Frowning, you look down at your keyboard and press Alt+F4. But the game doesn’t shut down, instead cutting to static then a new scene.
No background, no music. Only a single character sprite in the middle of the screen.
What is that?
The sprite is an amalgamation of colors, art styles, your favorite characters. Fragments of messy blond locks and pale blue tresses. Black armor, a white suit, accessories overlapping one another. Missing details, duplicated details, too many details.
You turn to your CPU and press the power button, but your computer doesn’t shut down.
Rather, the screen glitches further. So does the character, its appearance becoming even more warped. The speakers play static at full volume.
Is the character speaking? Its mouths are moving but instead of a dialogue box, random letters and numbers appear around its sprite. The static gives way to a familiar voice, distorted nonetheless.
The character’s face turns completely black. Except for its eyes, blue and lilac orbs continuing to stare deep into your soul.

Welp, I've been using external methods of auto-backing up my tumblr but it seems like it doesn't do static pages, only posts.
So I guess I'll have some manual backing up to do later
Still, it's better than nothing and I'm using the official tumblr backup process for my smaller blogs so hopefully that'll net the static pages and direct messages too. But. My main - starstruckpurpledragon - 'backed up' officially but was undownloadable; either it failed or it'd download a broken, unusable, 'empty' zip. So *shrugs* I'm sure I'm not the only one who is trying to back up everything at once. Wouldn't be shocked if the rest of the backups are borked too when I try to download their zips.
There are two diff ways I've been externally backing up my tumblr.
TumblThree - This one is relatively straight forward in that you can download it and start backing up immediately. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done. Does not get static pages or your direct message conversations, but your posts, gifs, jpegs, etc are all there. You can back up more than just your own blog(s) if you want to as well.
That said, it dumps all your posts into one of three text files which makes them hard to find. That's why I say it's 'not pretty'. It does have a lot of options in there that are useful for tweaking your download experience and it's not bad for if you're unfamiliar with command line solutions and don't have an interest in learning them. (Which is fair, command line can be annoying if you're not used to it.) There are options for converting the output into nicer html files for each post but I haven't tried them and I suspect they require command line anyway.
I got my blogs backed up using this method as of yesterday but wasn't thrilled with the output. Decided that hey, I'm a software engineer, command line doesn't scare me, I'll try this back up thing another way. Leading to today's successful adventures with:
TumblrUtils - This one does take more work to set up but once it's working it'll back up all your posts in pretty html files by default. It does take some additional doing for video/audio but so does TumblThree so I'll probably look into it more later.
First, you have to download and install python. I promise, the code snake isn't dangerous, it's an incredibly useful scripting language. If you have an interest in learning computer languages, it's not a bad one to know. Installing python should go pretty fast and when it's completed, you'll now be able to run python scripts from the command line/terminal.
Next, you'll want to actually download the TumblrUtils zip file and unzip that somewhere. I stuck mine on an external drive, but basically put it where you've got space and can access it easily.
You'll want to open up the tumblr_backup.py file with a text editor and find line 105, which should look like: ''' API_KEY = '' '''
So here's the hard part. Getting a key to stick in there. Go to the tumblr apps page to 'register' an application - which is the fancy way of saying request an API. Hit the register an application button and, oh joy. A form. With required fields. *sigh* All the url fields can be the same url. It just needs to be a valid one. Ostensibly something that interfaces with tumblr fairly nicely. I have an old wordpress blog, so I used it. The rest of the fields should be pretty self explanatory. Only fill in the required ones. It should be approved instantly if everything is filled in right.
And maybe I'll start figuring out wordpress integration if tumblr doesn't die this year, that'd be interesting. *shrug* I've got too many projects to start a new one now, but I like learning things for the sake of learning them sometimes. So it's on my maybe to do list now.
Anywho, all goes well, you should now have an 'OAuth Consumer Key' which is the API key you want. Copy that, put in between the empty single quotes in the python script, and hit save.
Command line time!
It's fairly simple to do. Open your command line (or terminal), navigate to where the script lives, and then run: ''' tumblr_backup.py <blog_name_here> '''
You can also include options before the blog name but after the script filename if you want to get fancy about things. But just let it sit there running until it backs the whole blog up. It can also handle multiple blogs at once if you want. Big blogs will take hours, small blogs will take a few minutes. Which is about on par with TumblThree too, tbh.
The final result is pretty. Individual html files for every post (backdated to the original post date) and anything you reblogged, theme information, a shiny index file organizing everything. It's really quite nice to dig through. Much like TumbleThree, it does not seem to grab direct message conversations or static pages (non-posts) but again it's better than nothing.
And you can back up other blogs too, so if there are fandom blogs you follow and don't want to lose or friends whose blogs you'd like to hang on to for your own re-reading purposes, that's doable with either of these backup options.
I've backed up basically everything all over again today using this method (my main is still backing up, slow going) and it does appear to take less memory than official backups do. So that's a plus.
Anyway, this was me tossing my hat into the 'how to back up your tumblr' ring. Hope it's useful. :D

The Brutalist’s most intriguing and controversial technical feature points forward rather than back: in January, the film’s editor Dávid Jancsó revealed that he and Corbet used tools from AI speech software company Respeecher to make the Hungarian-language dialogue spoken by Adrien Brody (who plays the protagonist, Hungarian émigré architect László Tóth) and Felicity Jones (who plays Tóth’s wife Erzsébet) sound more Hungarian. In response to the ensuing backlash, Corbet clarified that the actors worked “for months” with a dialect coach to perfect their accents; AI was used “in Hungarian language dialogue editing only, specifically to refine certain vowels and letters for accuracy.” In this way, Corbet seemed to suggest, the production’s two central performances were protected against the howls of outrage that would have erupted from the world’s 14 million native Hungarian speakers had The Brutalist made it to screens with Brody and Jones playing linguistically unconvincing Magyars. Far from offending the idea of originality and authorship in performance, AI in fact saved Brody and Jones from committing crimes against the Uralic language family; I shudder even to imagine how comically inept their performances might have been without this technological assist, a catastrophe of fumbled agglutinations, misplaced geminates, and amateur-hour syllable stresses that would have no doubt robbed The Brutalist of much of its awards season élan. This all seems a little silly, not to say hypocritical. Defenders of this slimy deception claim the use of AI in film is no different than CGI or automated dialogue replacement, tools commonly deployed in the editing suite for picture and audio enhancement. But CGI and ADR don’t tamper with the substance of a performance, which is what’s at issue here. Few of us will have any appreciation for the corrected accents in The Brutalist: as is the case, I imagine, for most of the people who’ve seen the film, I don’t speak Hungarian. But I do speak bullshit, and that’s what this feels like. This is not to argue that synthetic co-pilots and assistants of the type that have proliferated in recent years hold no utility at all. Beyond the creative sector, AI’s potential and applications are limitless, and the technology seems poised to unleash a bold new era of growth and optimization. AI will enable smoother reductions in headcount by giving managers more granular data on the output and sentiment of unproductive workers; it will allow loan sharks and crypto scammers to get better at customer service; it will offer health insurance companies the flexibility to more meaningfully tie premiums to diet, lifestyle, and sociability, creating billions in savings; it will help surveillance and private security solution providers improve their expertise in facial recognition and gait analysis; it will power a revolution in effective “pre-targeting” for the Big Pharma, buy-now-pay-later, and drone industries. Within just a few years advances like these will unlock massive productivity gains that we’ll all be able to enjoy in hell, since the energy-hungry data centers on which generative AI relies will have fried the planet and humanity will be extinct.
