——
The atmosphere in the control room was thick with tension as the final preparations for the dry run commenced. You stood beside In-ho, both of you in your authoritative masks and dark uniforms, overseeing the screens that displayed every inch of the arena. This was a necessary step to test the mechanics, ensuring every trap and function worked seamlessly before the real games began.
“We proceed as scheduled,” In-ho’s voice was calm but firm. “The Front Man should have been here by now.”
Your eyes flicked to the empty chair that Gi-hun was supposed to occupy. A small frown formed beneath your mask, but you shook it off. There were more pressing matters at hand. “Begin the dry run.”
The order was relayed, and the countdown was initiated. The massive red doors to the arena creaked open, revealing a handful of test subjects—masked guards disguised as players, meant to simulate real conditions. The last game was about to begin.
“All systems online,” a masked technician announced.
The massive doll at the center of the arena, responsible for detecting motion, remained still. Its head did not rotate, its sensor lights did not flicker. The guards in their test-player disguises exchanged confused glances. You exchanged a look with In-ho, his posture stiffening.
“Check the wiring,” he ordered sharply.
One of the technicians frantically worked at his station, fingers flying over the keyboard. “The detection system isn’t responding! It was functional yesterday—”
Another alarm blared across the monitors as more systems began to shut down. The retractable floors beneath certain marked spots—a key feature for later rounds—remained locked in place. The automatic turrets that were meant to simulate eliminations did not fire. A critical command flashed on the screens:
SYSTEM ERROR – CONNECTION LOST
“What the hell is happening?” Your voice came out sharper than intended, but the tension in the air was suffocating.
“Security breach in multiple areas,” another guard reported, voice shaking slightly. “But… nothing is physically damaged. It’s like the entire system is shutting down on its own.”
In-ho’s hand tightened into a fist, his knuckles ghostly white against his gloves. He turned to you, his voice dangerously low. “Where is the Front Man?”
A cold shiver ran down your spine. You turned to one of the nearest guards. “Find him. Now.”
The guard hesitated, then slowly stepped forward. “Sir… he is nowhere to be seen.”
Your heart thumped in your chest.
“What do you mean, ‘nowhere to be seen’?” In-ho asked, his voice devoid of patience.
“We checked his quarters. He’s not there. And… several guards are missing as well.”
Your breath hitched. The realization clawed at your mind like a cold hand gripping your throat.
Your conversation with Gi-hun and Jun-ho. The options they gave you.
n-ho’s voice came through again, harsh and unrelenting. “Seal off the exits. No one leaves the island.”
But before the command could fully register, another sound rang through the control room. A shrill, piercing alarm—one that sent the entire room into a frantic motion.
EMERGENCY MEETING CALLED – ALL OVERSEERS REPORT IMMEDIATELY
The red warning lights flashed violently against the steel walls, bathing everything in crimson. Your pulse pounded in your ears as the realization fully settled in.
Gi-hun was gone.
And something bigger than a mere malfunction was about to unfold.
——
You and In-ho make your way towards the conference room. Inside was thick with tension, the overhead lights casting harsh shadows on the long table where the overseers sat. The air was heavy, charged with suspicion and quiet rage. You and In-ho stood at the end of the room, backs straight, masking any sign of weakness. The red alarms still echoed faintly in the corridors outside, a constant reminder of the chaos that had begun to unravel.
One of the overseers, a man with a deep scar running across his jaw, slammed his fist onto the table. "Everything was running perfectly until now. And suddenly, the system crashes? The games malfunction? Guards go missing? And where is the Front Man?!" His sharp eyes drilled into yours. "You and In-ho were supposed to ensure that none of this happened."
Another overseer, a woman with ice in her voice, leaned forward. "The two of you were the only ones who had direct access to every security measure. And now, there's a breach. We have reason to believe this is an inside job."
"You’re accusing us?" In-ho's voice was dangerously calm, but there was an edge to it. His hand rested subtly at his side, close to his gun holster.
"You tell us," the scarred man hissed. "How do we know you haven’t been compromised?"
The room darkened as the monitors flickered, static crackling before returning to blank screens. The overseers grew restless, shifting in their seats, fingers twitching near their weapons.
Then came the final blow.
A different overseer, older but sharper than the rest, tilted his head. "The games have been exposed."
You exchanged a sharp glance with In-ho. The older overseer continued, his expression unreadable. "And you know what’s surprising? The world isn’t outraged. They’re obsessed. Demanding more. Calling for a massive televised event." He exhaled sharply, voice dripping with disdain. "It’s no longer just a secret bloodbath—it’s entertainment."
Murmurs rippled through the room. Some overseers looked disturbed. Others intrigued. But suspicion still lingered.
"And you think we had something to do with this?" In-ho asked, voice tight.
"It’s too convenient. The timing, the failures, the missing personnel." The scarred man leaned in. "The only ones who could have let this slip are the ones who had access to everything. You."
Then, the final nail in the coffin.
The same older overseer smirked. "And, of course… we know about the pregnancy."
Your blood ran cold as your body tensed. In-ho’s grip on his gun tightened. The way the older overseer’s lips curled ever so slightly sent a wave of unease through you.
"A child," the man mused. "What a complication that would be. A liability. Perhaps you’re both already thinking about an escape. Perhaps you’ve been compromised long before this."
Your heartbeat pounded in your ears as you felt the shift in the room—the rising hostility. A sharp click rang through the air, seeing guns drawn directly at you and In-ho.
Your breath hitched, but you forced yourself to remain still, your fingers curling into fists. One wrong move, and you’d both be riddled with bullets before you could even react.
"If you’re not with us, you’re against us," the scarred man growled. "And we don’t tolerate traitors."
Then, the first shot fired.
In-ho grabbed your wrist, yanking you down as the bullet shattered the glass panel behind you. A second later, the conference room erupted in gunfire. Overseers ducked for cover as you and In-ho sprinted toward the doors. You felt the air shift beside your cheek as a bullet barely missed you, embedding itself into the steel wall.
"Move!" In-ho barked, his grip on you firm as he led you into the hallway.
The moment you both crashed through the doors, In-ho pulled his gun and fired back, forcing the overseers to scatter for cover. "We have to get to the control room—now!"
Your pulse raced as your boots pounded against the cold floors. Behind you, the doors burst open, shouts echoing through the halls as the overseers pursued, their weapons raised. The emergency sirens blared louder now, blending with the chaos.
You weren’t just running from them. You were running for your life.
For In-ho’s.
For your unborn child.
And as another bullet whizzed past, nearly grazing your arm, you knew one thing for certain.
This wasn’t over yet.
Your mind raced as you tore down the hall, your pulse hammering against your ribs. The sharp stench of gunpowder clung to the air as you and In-ho moved in sync, your footsteps heavy against the cold steel floors. Bullets ricocheted off the walls, sparks flying in bursts of light as more guards poured in from the intersecting corridors.
In-ho moved ahead, his precision deadly. His gun fired in clean, methodical bursts, taking out guards with ease. You followed closely, your own weapon raised, firing at the figures blocking your escape. Bodies fell, the chaos swallowing their last gasps as the sirens blared louder, warning the entire facility of your defiance.
“We need to get out of this sector now!” In-ho shouted, his voice nearly drowned out by the endless alarms.
Your grip on your gun tightened as another group of guards stormed in from the left, their rifles aimed directly at you. Your reflexes took over, pulling the trigger, feeling the recoil as each shot landed with brutal precision. One guard lunged forward, and before you could react, In-ho stepped in front of you, his bullet meeting the man’s skull before he could even reach you.
A brief glance was exchanged between you and In-ho—nothing was said, but everything was understood.
Then a voice called out, stopping you both in your tracks.
“Over here!”
You snapped your head to the far end of the hallway. A figure stood there, barely visible through the flashing red lights. Then another voice joined in, a familiar one—Jun-ho.
“This way! Hurry!” he urged, motioning to a reinforced door behind him.
You and In-ho hesitated for a second. A second too long. More guards were closing in fast, their relentless gunfire forcing you both to duck behind a shattered console.
In-ho turned to you. “We don’t have a choice. We move now.”
You nodded, and without another word, both of you sprinted towards Jun-ho. He had already begun keying in a code on the panel beside the door, his fingers moving quickly, overriding the security locks. The moment you and In-ho were close enough, Jun-ho slammed the panel, and the heavy doors hissed open.
The moment you stepped inside, your breath hitched.
Gi-hun. Hyun-ju. Gyeong-seok. No-eul.
They were all there.
Gi-hun's eyes flickered between you and In-ho, his expression unreadable. Hyun-ju had a gun slung over her shoulder, her stance tense but prepared. Gyeong-seok and No-eul stood side by side, their hands twitching near their weapons, waiting for any sign of hostility. The air in the room was thick, the weight of past betrayals and alliances clashing in an unspoken war.
No one moved. No one spoke.
The sound of distant gunfire and the wail of the alarms were the only reminders that the war outside had not ceased. For the first time in what felt like a lifetime, you weren’t alone.
An alliance was forming again.
——
A tense silence filled the air as Jun-ho and In-ho locked eyes. It was as if the world around them had disappeared, the chaos and the blaring alarms fading into nothing but the weight of years lost between them.
Jun-ho took a slow step forward. His breathing was uneven, his expression unreadable. “Is it really you?” his voice was hoarse, filled with disbelief and something deeper—pain.
n-ho, for all his poise and control, looked shaken. His lips parted, but no words came out at first. He swallowed hard, his gun lowering slightly as if all the fight in him had drained away the moment he saw his brother standing there, alive.
“Jun-ho,” In-ho finally said, his voice quieter than anyone had ever heard it.
Jun-ho clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as he took another step. “You let me believe you were dead.”
In-ho exhaled sharply, running a hand through his disheveled hair. “I had to.”
“Bullshit!” Jun-ho snapped, his voice rising as years of grief, anger, and betrayal surfaced all at once. “You could have come back! You could have told me! Do you have any idea what I—”
Before Jun-ho could finish, In-ho closed the distance between them and pulled his younger brother into a tight embrace.
Jun-ho stiffened, his breath catching in his throat. His hands hovered in the air, unsure whether to push In-ho away or hold on to him like he had been wishing to do for years.
“I’m sorry,” In-ho murmured against his brother’s shoulder, voice breaking for the first time. “I’m so damn sorry, Jun-ho.”
Jun-ho squeezed his eyes shut, his fists clenching before he finally gave in, his arms wrapping around his brother in return. It was a brief moment of vulnerability, a reunion built on broken pieces, but it was real.
The others in the room stayed silent, watching the brothers reunite amidst the madness surrounding them.
After a moment, Jun-ho pulled away, wiping at his face quickly before looking at In-ho with newfound determination. “If you’re really sorry, then help me end this.”
In-ho hesitated, glancing at you for a brief second before turning back to his brother. He exhaled through his nose, then nodded. “We will.”
Gi-hun finally stepped forward, arms crossed as he surveyed the reunion. You smirked, glancing around at the group as your tone laced with purpose when you spoke up.
“So, what’s the plan?”
The silence hung heavy in the dimly lit room, only the distant echoes of gunfire and the blaring alarms breaking through. You stood among the others, feeling the weight of unspoken words pressing down on your chest. In-ho stood beside you, his face unreadable, though you could feel the tension in his stance.
Gi-hun took a slow breath, his fingers curling into fists before he finally spoke.
"The plan is simple," he began, his voice steady but laced with something deeper—calculated determination. "We take the organization down from the inside. We sabotage the games, expose their operations, and ensure that when the world watches, they see the truth."
Jun-ho crossed his arms, nodding slightly. "The system is already crumbling. The overseers are paranoid, the guards are scattered. With the world already watching, all we have to do is show them what’s really happening behind the scenes."
Gi-hun exhaled sharply. "But there was one part of the plan that’s changed."
You felt a sudden unease crawl up your spine.
"The original plan," Gi-hun continued, locking eyes with you and In-ho, "was to execute both of you."
The words hit like a punch to the gut. You barely had time to register it before the room shifted—Hyun-ju tensed, Gyeong-seok and No-eul exchanged wary glances, and Jun-ho's jaw clenched. In-ho, however, remained deathly still.
Gi-hun's gaze didn’t waver. "Before you decided to switch sides, you were still a threat. Both of you. The safest way to ensure this plan succeeded was to eliminate you before you could compromise it."
Your fingers twitched at your sides. You didn't realize how tight your fists had become.
"But," Gi-hun continued, "you chose differently. You decided to fight with us instead of against us. So, the plan changes."
You exhaled, steadying yourself. In-ho's hand brushed against yours—subtle, barely there, but enough for you to notice. When you looked at him, his eyes were focused ahead, but you could sense the turmoil beneath the surface.
"We do this together," Gi-hun said. "And we make sure no one ever has to go through this again."
The room fell into silence once more. The weight of everything—of every loss, every sacrifice—pressed down on all of you. Then, with a sharp inhale, he straightened.
“We take the control room first,” he stated, his voice firm. “The entire island runs on that system—every camera, every security lock, every broadcast. Once we have it, we control the narrative.”
Jun-ho nodded, arms crossed. “The overseers will have the backups, but if we move fast enough, we can cut them off before they get the chance to reboot. We leak everything. We let the world see the truth.”
Hyun-ju leaned against the wall, arms folded. “And then what? Even if the world sees it, we’re still trapped on this island. The guards will come down on us before we even have a chance to escape.”
Gi-hun turned to Gyeong-seok and No-eul. “That’s where you two come in.”
The two guards stiffened slightly at the attention. No-eul spoke first. “We’ve already mapped out the guard shifts and their blind spots. We can secure an exit route while the rest of you handle the control room.”
Gyeong-seok added, “The docks are heavily guarded, but we know the security rotation. If we time it right, we can take control of a transport boat before reinforcements arrive.”
In-ho listened in silence, his mask discarded, exposing a hardened expression. His presence alone was imposing—once the enforcer of the games, now a rogue piece in a collapsing empire.
“And the overseers?” he asked, voice low.
Jun-ho hesitated. “They won’t let this slide. They’ll do everything in their power to contain this before it reaches the outside world. We’re going to have to face them head-on.”
The tension in the air sharpened.
“Good,” In-ho finally said. His gaze flickered to you, then back to the group. “Then we don’t hesitate.”
You studied him, the man who once stood as the face of the system you were now trying to burn to the ground. There was a quiet fire behind his words, something deeper—maybe even regret.
Gi-hun let out a slow breath. “This is our only shot. If we fail, we die here.”
Everyone knew it, but no one backed down.
Gi-hun looked at each of you once more before gripping the pistol at his side. His fingers flexed over the cold metal before he exhaled sharply.
“Let’s end this.”
A brief silence occurred. Then, you nodded, meeting his gaze. “For those we lost.”
The words hung in the air, sealing the fate of what was to come.
No more games. No more survival.
Now, it was war.

A/N: I hope y'all like the concept of their alliance forming once again, minus the other players who really had a higher chance of dying in the actual show (in my opinion though). The epilogue will be up in a few days and I'm taking my time in editing and drafting it. With that, feel free to leave out your thoughts here, and I'll gladly interact with each and everyone of you. 🫶
Don't forget to leave a comment in this post to be tagged in the last chapter! ✨

Chapter 1:
A new world lies ahead
⚠️Hey, everyone! This is my first fanfic, so I apologize for any mistakes. Don't expect very long chapters. Feel free to share your thoughts and give me tips!⚠️
─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ───
Under a starlit night illuminated by the glow of a full moon, the sky was torn apart by a spacecraft spiraling out of control, scattering sparks and smoke like a luminous trail. The impact was catastrophic, reverberating across the mountains like a metallic scream echoing through the cliffs. The spacecraft came to rest, almost camouflaged among the rocks and vegetation, while silence prevailed. Over time, it was overtaken by the local fauna and flora, until one day, something changed. A faint light pierced the darkness, accompanied by a hum and metallic clicks. Riven awakened, her sensors glowing as her systems slowly adjusted to the chaotic environment around her.
"Ughhh… What just happened?"
I woke up on the floor of the control room, my systems struggling to reboot as I tried to comprehend my surroundings. Slowly, I began to rise, feeling weak and, to be honest, somewhat rusty. My movements were accompanied by the groans of worn joints, and when I finally stood upright, my sensors registered the chaos around me. The control room was in complete disarray—small debris, broken objects, and fragments of equipment scattered everywhere. The air was heavy with the acrid smell of burned circuits. I let out a long sigh, laden with exhaustion and frustration.
"Primus… This place has turned into a disaster."
Still processing the events, my sensors started focusing on the control panels. I walked over to them, sliding my metallic hands across their damaged surfaces, searching for any functionality within the instruments. Most of the data was fragmented or unreadable, with flickering screens and erratic signals. After a few moments of analysis, I realized it would be impossible to assess the damage solely from inside the ship.
"Staying trapped in here won't help," I muttered, gathering courage. My eyes shifted to the hatch beside me. I walked over to it, each step resonating against the metal floor. As I opened the hatch, fresh air rushed into the ship, bringing with it the scent of damp earth and vegetation. I paused for a moment, taking in the exterior surroundings—rugged rocks and dense plants enveloped the spacecraft. And when I looked back, I realized my ship had crash-landed beneath a massive mountain, and in the forced landing, a crater had opened up at the mountain's base, forming a sort of tunnel…
Hesitantly, I took my first step outside. The landscape seemed serene, yet at the same time, held an air of mystery. I knew I had to explore to understand where I was. So, I began wandering through the area, gazing around and analyzing the life forms of this new planet. I noticed that almost everything here was organic. Green dominated the environment, the sky had a comforting shade of blue, and I encountered native species I had never seen before in my life…
I advance through the forest, the sensors still on alert, analyzing every detail around me. But something changes. My pace slows, and I set aside the automatic functions.
Now, I don't just record—I see. I feel. My feet gently touch the grass, fresh and soft like a green mantle. My hands glide through the treetops, exploring the texture of the leaves. I look up at the sky and witness a spectacle: winged beings tracing graceful paths against the infinite blue.
Suddenly, I notice something. A small animal is standing a bit further ahead, hidden among the bushes. Its color is brown and looks adorable, with a few light patches near its paws. It has thin legs and dark eyes that shine calmly.
I stop and observe every detail of it. Time seems to stand still. When I finally take a step forward, the sound of a branch breaking under my foot disrupts the peaceful moment. The animal’s pointed ears perk up, and its eyes fix on me for a few seconds. Then, it leaps agilely, running between the trees and quickly vanishing into the greenery.
Without thinking much, I chase after it, following the trail it left behind. After a few minutes, the forest begins to open up. In front of me, there is a wide open field, full of tall plants swaying gently in the wind. Further ahead, the ground slopes down into a serene valley…
"I had never seen a place as beautiful as this before… But what should I do now? My ship is too damaged to fly again, and I have no idea if this planet has Energon."
Will I find a source of energy in time? If not, how long can I last… months, maybe less? I need to act quickly before it's too late.
I begin exploring the area when, suddenly, in the distance, I spot a structure resembling some sort of tower. It seems to be emitting a signal.
"How strange… Why would there be a tower in the middle of nowhere?"
Curious, I start walking toward the structure. As I get closer, the tower becomes more prominent against the landscape. It is imposing, made of a metallic material that reflects the light, with intricately designed lines that catch my attention. When I finally reach the base of the tower, I decide to use my sensors to scan it, searching for information that might explain its origin and purpose.
During the scanning process, I notice the tower emitting unusual frequencies, as if it is sending a message. However, the patterns are unfamiliar to my systems.
"Hold on… If this tower was placed here, it could mean-"
Suddenly, I hear a loud and thunderous sound. I look up at the sky and notice that it starts to darken, taking on a deep shade of gray. Small streaks of blue light begin to glow on the horizon. Gradually, the wind grows stronger, causing the vegetation to sway rapidly and chaotically. I carefully observe the phenomenon and realize that small drops of a transparent liquid start to gently fall on me.
I realized that maybe it wasn’t a good idea to stay there because of the lightning that was getting stronger and closer. So, I decided to turn back and return to where my ship was. The sky started to darken quickly, and the wind grew stronger. I quickened my pace to reach my shelter faster.
"Haaa… finally."
I managed to return to the cave where my ship was. I looked at it and saw that, given the extent of the damage, it would take quite some time to repair everything.
"Urgh… looks like I'm going to be stuck here for a while…"
Suddenly, I heard the sound of something dripping. I turned to the entrance of the cave and saw a phenomenon: several transparent droplets began to fall from the sky in large quantities. They made a loud yet relaxing sound.
I went to the entrance, sat on a rock, and watched the phenomenon unfold before me.
"What could this be?"
I wondered what else this planet might have and how I was going to manage from here on out.
Hours passed. I was inside my ship, trying to fix the control panels. They had some cracks and were sparking a little. After a while, I managed to stabilize the controls and tried searching for signs of Cybertronian life nearby. I waited for the panel to give some signal, but the system found nothing. On the one hand, that was good—it likely meant I was on a planet so remote that the chances of a Decepticon showing up here were low. But, on the other hand, it also meant I was too far away to ask for help from any Autobots in case something happened.
Hours have passed…
I sit in the control cabin, the steady glow of the panels casting hues of purple and melancholia across the room. My fingers glide over the buttons and keys, but my mind is somewhere else entirely. A stubborn thought lingers, refusing to let me go: that tower in the forest….
That thing… it was definitely not built by any Cybertronian. It was something entirely different, crafted with a technology that, while distinct, seemed less advanced than ours. This construction sparks a flood of possibilities in my mind. Could it mean that intelligent life exists on this planet? And if so… who or what are they?
The question echoes relentlessly in my thoughts. Would they look anything like me? Or would they be utterly unrecognizable? Imagining their appearance, their behavior, their intentions—it only makes my unease grow stronger. Whatever they are, I think it's best to stay hidden for now. I have no idea what these beings might be like… and, perhaps more importantly, whether they would be peaceful.
I let out a sigh, trying to quell the anxiety bubbling up inside. Maybe it’s wiser to watch, wait… and hope they don’t find me first.
I get up and leave the control room, walking leisurely toward my quarters. As I stroll down the corridor, dimly lit by faint purple and blue lights, I can feel the quiet stillness surrounding me.
When I finally reach the door, I open it and step inside. My eyes immediately fall on the mess: a cluttered desk and a few scattered objects on the floor.
I start tidying up, carefully putting everything back in its place. After a few minutes, satisfied with the result, I lay down on my recharging platform. Staring upward, lost in thought, I catch myself wondering:
“What could have happened to them…?”
Gradually, my vision starts to blur, and the darkness begins to take over.
Suddenly, something surged into my mind—a vivid and haunting memory. I was fleeing the war in Iacon. Chaos was absolute, and the horizon seemed swallowed by suffocating black smoke. Explosions reverberated incessantly, the ground trembling as if the planet itself were crying out in pain. The sky was consumed by flames, devouring everything within their reach. The city had been reduced to ashes and ruin, and desperate cries mixed with the deafening sounds of battle filled the air.
I ran without looking back, frantic, until I reached a hidden cave where I had prepared a refuge. The uneven ground was littered with metallic debris and fragments of lives lost. When I arrived at the entrance of the cave, I turned briefly, just to see Iacon one last time. The devastation was so overwhelming that it would forever haunt my mind.
Inside the cave, my little sanctuary felt insignificant compared to the chaos raging outside. I gathered everything I had managed to save—equipment, supplies, and the memories that still remained of that place.
I rushed to my ship, camouflaged among the rocks. It wasn’t very large, but it was powerful enough to get me out of that nightmare. As I entered, I activated the engines—a fleeting moment of hope amidst the despair. The interior lights flickered on, preparing the panel for escape. I took one last look at Cybertron, now a planet ravaged by war.
The ship took off, piercing through the dark and empty sky. As I distanced myself, the flames and explosions began to fade, swallowed by the endless darkness of space. My only thought was to find a place where I could start over—far away from the chaos, pain, and death I had left behind. Now, I was alone, clinging to the faint hope that the Autobots had managed to survive as well.

I abruptly open my eyes and realize that it was all just a dream. A wave of loneliness washes over me. I get up lazily and, as I make my way back through the corridors to the control cabin, I settle into the command seat. I switch on the panels and begin reviewing my work from the previous night
As I prepare to head out and explore the forest, I pause to analyze my internal systems, feeling a mix of excitement and energy coursing through my structure. I move to one of the carefully designed compartments inside the ship and retrieve a staff, crafted with the most advanced Cybertronian technology. It is my proudest creation. I hold the staff firmly for a moment, admiring its sleek metallic design, and then activate a discreet button on its side. Instantly, it begins to shrink, transforming into a compact and easy-to-carry object. I carefully store it in a compartment integrated into my core, ready to be used whenever necessary.
As I step out of the ship, I close the hatch, hearing the mechanical echo as it locks securely. The moment feels significant as I prepare for my transformation. I adjust my stance, realign my joints in a swift motion, and propel myself into the air. I feel my form reconfiguring—metal plates shifting, gears turning, and energy flowing through my structure—as I take on my vehicle mode. Now transformed into a sturdy, four-wheeled vehicle, I begin my journey. The dirt road I follow is narrow, full of twists and surrounded by dense vegetation, but it leads directly to the forest that awaits me...
To be continued...

Model Development:
SKHR (Strategische-Kampftaktiker Hilfe Replika), (Strategic Combat-Tactician Assistance Replika 'Snowy Owl') or Schnee-Eule, are Generation 5 specialized units developed by the Eusan Nation. These units were built based on the common Eule, enhancing their capabilities for battlefield deployment and combat support. SKHR being deployed at Rotfront specifically
The SKHR "Schneeeule" Replika was developed as a specialized response to the shortcomings of earlier EULR units in high-conflict zones. While EULRs excelled at domestic and logistical tasks, they were ill-suited for combat or tactical operations. To fill this gap, the SKHR model was created, combining the light, agile frame of an EULR with upgraded combat and tactical support capabilities.
Its neural pattern was derived from a Rotfront gestalt known for sharp analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a deep sense of loyalty. However, its origins also carry emotional vulnerabilities, as the neural donor experienced trauma related to abandonment and survivor’s guilt, which heavily influences the unit’s Persona. The SKHR is equipped to function as both a frontline combat unit and a support specialist, assisting in battlefield triage, supply coordination, and tactical planning.
SKHR units tend to exhibit quiet, contemplative behavior when not engaged in tasks. They often exhibit subtle nesting tendencies, organizing their quarters in meticulous ways that reflect their desire for control and order in the middle of chaos.

Combat Attributes
SKHR units occupy a unique position in the command chain, bridging the gap between strategic planning and frontline combat. Deployed as field tacticians, they operate under the direct supervision of senior officers but are granted considerable autonomy during missions.
Battlefield coordinator, ensuring troop efficiency and survival. Support unit for wounded soldiers and logistical supply management.
Exceptional analytical skills for quick tactical decision-making. Adept at both mid-range combat and first aid procedures.
Although not as heavily armored as other common frontline combat models, making them vulnerable to sustained fire along with their emotional tendencies can sometimes impair their objectivity in high-stress situations. A common strategy is pairing them closely with a younger STAR or STCR unit

CLASSIFIED INFORMATION - Commander Eyes Only
Previous experience with these Replika models has given us insight into irregularities in their behavior that stem from the original neural patterns used for these units. Due to the sensitive nature of this information, this document should be destroyed after reading.
SKHR units may form strong attachments to specific personnel or units, which can lead to emotional instability if those individuals are lost in combat.
Their neural pattern predisposes them to survivor’s guilt, especially if they perceive themselves as failing to protect others. If left in prolonged isolation or repeatedly exposed to high-casualty scenarios, SKHR units may experience accelerated Persona degradation, resulting in erratic or self-sacrificing behavior.

Synchronization Between Prosthesis and Senses
Augmented Reflexes: His bionic arm could have a feedback system connected to his heightened senses, allowing it to respond to auditory or visual cues faster than he can consciously react. For instance, if he hears a sudden change in someone’s heartbeat behind him (indicating they’re approaching or tensing up), his arm could twitch or adjust as if ready to defend or counter.
Haptic Feedback in the Arm: The prosthesis could have sensors that translate environmental data into subtle vibrations or pressure signals, which Piers can feel. For example, in low-light or when he’s using his thermal vision, his arm might subtly vibrate in response to nearby heat sources, giving him a “sixth sense” of people around him without needing to look.
Sensory Overload Thresholds and Control Mechanism
Virus-Triggered Sensory Intensity: When the Virus exerts more control, his senses might intensify to the point where every heartbeat, heat signature, or movement becomes sharply defined and almost overwhelming. This state would enhance his perception but at the cost of mental strain, making it harder for him to focus or maintain rational thought.
Adaptive Mutation in His Arm
Augmented Physical Connection: The prosthetic side of his arm might integrate more closely with the mutating side over time. This would create a unique “fusion” effect where the prosthetic adapts, mirroring changes in the mutation, like absorbing textures or contours that appear on his mutated tissue. This would blur the line between machine and biology even further, reflecting his struggle to retain his humanity.
Predator-Like Instinct Mode
Automatic Threat Detection: If his hearing detects an elevated heartbeat or his eye picks up sudden movement, it could trigger an “instinct mode” where his sensory focus shifts fully onto the target—heightening his reaction time and awareness of that individual’s actions. This would make him hyper-focused on potential threats, though it risks distracting him from other surroundings.
Animalistic Responses to Stress: When the Virus exerts control, Piers’ responses could become more instinctual. For instance, if his mutated eye detects an unexpected heat signature, his body might involuntarily tense, his senses heighten, and his arm adopt a defensive posture. He might also develop reflexes that resemble predatory behavior, like tracking movement without moving his head.

Hot take: the bathroom lights automatically turning off after I've been in here 5-15 minutes is ableist. They should detect DIRECTION of movement and not just movement. If someone enters and doesn't leave, the lights should stay on. I shouldn't have to wipe my ass and wash my hands in the dark.
This particular switch DID reactivate the lights when I flashed my phone light around the walls (I'm IN A FUCKING STALL, so sometimes they can't detect my movement if I wave my arms around), but I've been in a few bathrooms where the only motion sensor is by the door and the rest of the bathroom is blocked by a wall (for privacy), and I NEED there to be a motion sensor where I can turn the lights on if I'm having an IBS episode and am stuck in a stall for 30 minutes shitting my guts out.
Sorry I have sudden and urgent bowel movements. It isn't something I can control. And the light DOES need to stay on for me. And I'm able-bodied -- someone with a wheelchair or walker is gonna have a lot more difficulty going back to the entrance to turn the light on before they can wash their hands.

Random Robot Snippet
Is it obvious I've been in a robot mood for the last few days? Here's a random word-vom I wrote about a tiny discarded robot being repaired.
Word count: 900ish
CW: POV description of a robot in disrepair, some robot-themed body horror (maintenance while awake) but portrayed softly.

You stumble through the street, wishing it wasn’t night. All of the businesses are closed, and your solar panels aren’t picking anything up from the street lamps…

System Status: Critical
You wake up. You weren’t expecting that. As you take in the fact that you’re alive, you notice an odd sensation by your arm. Ah. It’s missing. The wires that previously sent power to your fingers have been spliced into a power plug, which must be where you are getting charged from. You notice additional problems as your warning system slowly warms up. Namely, that your chassis is open, exposed to the elements. It just now occurs to you that you have no idea where you are. The room is dark, and you appear to be on a wooden surface, sat in a slumped-over position. Several tools are nearby, as well as spare wires. You begin to panic, your cooling fans turning on automatically to control the heat coming from your processor.
You hear a voice, talking. The words are hard to hear over the roaring of the fans, but you can make out some of them. “Project”, “Replacement”, “Help it”. The voice seems to be speaking to no one, you can’t hear the reply, but they sound adamant. Finally, you hear them move away from the door, as the room returns to silence, and you fade into sleep mode to charge faster.

System Status: Stabilized
Your internal clock is broken, you lost internet access long before you were discarded. You have no idea how long you’ve been here. How long since you were in the street. Hours? Days? Longer? The solar panels making up your “hair” have finally activated, but at an extremely low generation rate. That must be what woke you up.
You’re now laying flat on the surface from before. Your pressure sensors feel something. You boot up your optical nodes, and see… gloved human hands, almost as big as you are, poking at your now-exposed chest cavity with rubber-tipped tools. It feels… odd, the sensation of having your insides meddled with while still awake. You take in the form of the human, their tied-back hair, their oil-stained coveralls, clearly from working on something bigger, and presumably more important than you.
Their face, covered by a welding mask, turns up to look at you, clearly noticing the blue lights from your optical nodes, and they speak in a muffled voice. “Oh, hello! You’re awake! Can you… can you speak?”
“Yes. Where am I?”
“Oh good! Sorry, I know this must be scary, this is my robot workshop. I guess you could think of it as… a bot hospital. I found you sitting in a dumpster, but I know your model had AI, I couldn’t just let you be discarded!”
Discarded, you think, taking extra time to process the word. It wouldn’t be the first time.
“Where is my arm?” You ask, as your optical nodes glance over at the missing appendage, and the mess of wires in its place. “What are you doing?”
“Oh! Your arm is safe, I was doing repairs on it, and I figured ‘Hey, the chassis needs power anyways, may as well give it a jump’. I’ll put it back when you’re fully charged. As for this,” they say, pointing to your open torso, “Just a bit of an upgrade for you. On the house,” they say with a wink.
Your fans calm down as your processor slows to normal levels. This human means well? You don’t understand why they would care for an outdated, defective unit like you, but that hardly matters if they’ll help repair you. You stay awake as they continue to poke and prod, occasionally causing a power flicker but always apologizing. The way they treat you… it’s almost as if you were a human yourself. Now that they know you’re awake, they speak slowly and softly, narrating what they are doing and why. “I’m removing this, but I’m replacing it with this better one, okay?”
“Okay”, you reply, not that you have much of a choice. If they wanted, they could be, no, should be scrapping you for parts… but they don’t. Finally, it burns at you enough to ask.
“Why are you helping me?”
They go quiet at this. You worry that you said something wrong, something to upset them. Instead, they lift their mask and look at you, a gentle gleam in their hazel eyes, as they respond. “I’m helping you because you were hurt. Nobody should be thrown away like that.”
You think to argue, to tell them that you were defective, replaced by a newer, more capable model, but you hold your metaphorical tongue, afraid of upsetting this human who currently has access to your most vital parts. “You don’t believe me”, they say. You don’t. After a moment, they speak again. “That’s okay. Whether you believe me or not, I’m going to help you, okay? So just be patient and trust me.”
And, with no other option, trust them you shall.

Why are some people’s headlights always so blinding?
Headlight glare is a growing concern as technology advances, vehicle design trends, and regulatory loopholes emerge. Here’s why it’s happening and what you can do about it:
Major causes of headlight glare
Misaligned beam
Cause: Headlights that shine too high (even just slightly) can project light into the eyes of oncoming drivers. This often happens when:
◦ Suspension modifications (such as installing a lift kit or lowering springs).
◦ Bulbs incorrectly replaced without recalibration.
◦ Heavy objects placed in the trunk/back seat change the vehicle’s tilt.
Impact: A 2023 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) study found that one-third of vehicles have incorrectly angled headlights, reducing visibility to other vehicles by up to 50%.
High-intensity bulbs installed in inappropriate housings
LED/HID retrofit kits: Installing high-intensity LED or HID bulbs without dimmable light patterns in halogen reflective housings results in uneven light dispersion. LEDs with dimmable light patterns are the best way to meet standards
◦ Example: A 55W halogen bulb has an intensity of approximately 1,200 lumens, while aftermarket LED bulbs can have an intensity of over 3,000 lumens without proper beam control.
Blue Dominance: Cool white LEDs (7,000K+ color temperature) increase glare due to the longer wavelength of blue light, which scatters more in the human eye.
Taller Vehicle Designs
Taller SUVs, trucks, and crossovers move headlights closer to the driver's line of sight for sedans.
Data point: The average SUV headlight is 22-30 inches above the ground, while the average sedan headlight is 18-24 inches above the ground.
Adaptive system failure
Automatic dimming failure: Adaptive headlights (such as BMW's Dynamic Light Assist) can fail, leaving high beams active.
Sensor issues: Dirty or obstructed windshield cameras/radars (used to detect oncoming vehicles) can cause delays in adjustment.
Lagged regulations
US standards: FMVSS 108 (last updated in 2007) does not adequately address the glare issues of modern LED lights.
Global differences: EU regulations (ECE R112) enforce stricter beam patterns, but imported vehicles may not comply with local regulations.
Human factors exacerbate the problem
Aging drivers: Pupils dilate more slowly as we age, making glare more uncomfortable (studies show that drivers over 50 are twice as sensitive).
Astigmatism: 30% of people suffer from this eye condition, which causes light to distort into starburst shapes.
Cognitive Bias: Drivers often prioritize their own vision over the vision of others, thinking “brighter = safer”.
Solutions and Mitigations For drivers causing glare:
Realign headlights: Use the wall test (25-foot distance) to ensure beam cutoff is level and asymmetrical (slightly higher on the passenger side).
Use certified bulbs: Stick with DOT/ECE/CE/ROSH, etc. certified bulbs designed for your frame.
Adjust for load: Use manual or auto-leveling systems to compensate for heavy loads.
For drivers affected:
Anti-glare measures:
Install auto-dimming rearview mirrors (reduces rear glare by 80%).
Wear polarized sunglasses at night (yellow/amber lenses filter blue light).
Advocate for change: Support organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in their push for updated headlight regulations.
Upcoming tech solutions:
Adaptive high beam (ADB): Systems like Mercedes’ digital lighting system or Toyota’s BladeScan can block oncoming vehicles while keeping other areas bright.
Dynamic leveling: Real-time suspension adjustments to maintain beam angle (e.g., Audi’s predictive lighting system).
Why this matters Blazing headlights are not only annoying, they’re also dangerous. Glare can cause:
Temporary blindness: Vision can be impaired for up to 5 seconds after direct exposure (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration).
Increased risk of crashes: A 2022 study showed that glare can lead to a 20% increase in crashes on unlit roads at night.
The bottom line While brighter headlights can improve driver safety, poor design and alignment often come at the expense of others. Until regulations are in place, defensive driving and consumer advocacy are critical. If your lights are frequently flashing, start by checking your beam alignment—it’s often a quick fix, but the impact is high. 🔧🚗

What are solar-powered skylights, and how do they work?
Imagine having a skylight in your home that not only brightens up your space with natural light but also harnesses the power of the sun to function. That’s exactly what solar-powered skylights do. These innovative skylights have become popular for homeowners who want to add more natural light to their homes while being energy-efficient. Let's dive into solar-powered skylights and how they work so you can decide if they're a good fit for your home.
What Are Solar-Powered Skylights?
Solar-powered skylights are a modern twist on the traditional skylight. Unlike conventional skylights, which are often fixed and rely solely on the placement to capture sunlight, solar-powered skylights come equipped with a small solar panel. This solar panel captures sunlight and converts it into electricity, which powers the skylight's features.
These skylights aren't just about letting light into your home. They also come with built-in sensors, remote control options, and the ability to open and close on demand. This means you can enjoy fresh air and natural light with the touch of a button. Plus, because they’re solar-powered, they don't add to your electricity bill—it's all powered by the sun.
How Do Solar-Powered Skylights Work?
At first glance, solar-powered skylights might seem complex, but how they work is surprisingly straightforward. Here's how they function:
Solar Panel Collection: Solar-powered skylights have a small, integrated solar panel that collects sunlight throughout the day. This panel is usually mounted on the skylight, positioned to capture maximum sunlight. Even on cloudy days, the solar panel can still collect enough energy to power the skylight.
Energy Conversion and Storage: The solar panel converts sunlight into electricity, which is then stored in a built-in battery. This storage capacity means that even when the sun isn’t shining—like at night or on particularly cloudy days—the skylight can still operate.
Operation: The electricity stored in the battery powers the skylight's various features. These can include a motor that allows the skylight to open and close, sensors that detect rain and automatically close the skylight to prevent water from entering, and even remote control options for ease of use. Some models even have programmable settings, allowing you to schedule when the skylight opens and closes.
Smart Sensors: Many solar-powered skylights are equipped with rain sensors. If the skylight is open and it starts to rain, the sensor automatically triggers the skylight to close. This ensures your home stays dry even if you're not around to close the skylight manually.
Benefits of Solar-Powered Skylights
Solar-powered skylights offer a range of benefits that make them a great addition to any home. Here are some key advantages:
Energy Efficiency: These skylights don't add to your home's electricity usage because they use solar power. They rely entirely on renewable energy, making them an eco-friendly choice.
Cost Savings: Over time, solar-powered skylights can help reduce your energy costs. Maximizing natural light and ventilation can decrease your reliance on artificial lighting and air conditioning, leading to lower utility bills.
Enhanced Home Comfort: By controlling when and how much your skylight opens, you can enjoy fresh air and natural light exactly when you want it. This can improve indoor air quality and make your living spaces more comfortable.
Easy Installation: Solar-powered skylights don't require wiring, unlike traditional electric skylights. This makes installation quicker and often more affordable, especially in homes where running new electrical lines would be costly.
Why Choose Solar-Powered Skylights for Your Home?
Solar-powered skylights are an excellent choice to enhance your home's lighting and ventilation in an eco-friendly and cost-effective way. They bring in natural light, help regulate indoor temperatures, and offer the flexibility to open and close them as needed without adding to your energy costs.
Moreover, they come with the added convenience of automatic features like rain sensors and remote controls, making them a smart investment for any modern home. Solar-powered skylights are a step in the right direction if you're trying to reduce your carbon footprint and lower your energy bills.

Weird car things that seem like common sense but maybe kind of aren’t?
So, even very experienced mechanics still come into a parts store and are like “I have no idea what this is but it still needs to be fixed” so never be ashamed to say you don’t know.
If you take only one picture of the part and bring that in, i automatically dislike you because you as a customer need to actually be able to assess that the thing you are buying is the thing you need. I’m basically going off of your words and the part picture in the system.
I personally can automatically (pun intended) see that you brought in an upper or lower control arm, a fuel pump, a starter or alternator, a tie rod end… I literally cannot find the EXACT PART unless I know what year make and model you’re looking for. Please for the love of god actually give us the year first so that we actually remember what you said you wanted.
Ladies who know nothing but have lots of questions are honestly my absolute favorite. Like, I get it, you were never interested and no one ever taught you, but now it’s suddenly keeping your from getting to work. I gotchu fam.
Ladies that get sent to pick up stuff: holy Christ on a stick, I feel for you, you were given zero information, you already have zero knowledge, any questions I ask you will absolutely not have the answers to and on top of that you look so fucking helpless and I can tell it grates o you but you’re THERE and you have ONE JOB even though you might get yelled at later and honestly that’s admirable.
If you’re getting asked a lot “is this it?” Or “is this everything?” Or even “no mas?” It means that you are, specifically, an annoying fuck wit and I would very much like to bash your face in lbecause you just made me make eight separate trips to the back for eight separate parts and honestly giving you a dose of pepper spray seems like the quickest way to make you “not my problem” but that’s heavily frowned upon I hear.
Lots and lots of people make life easier for themselves and decide to google shit before they even get to the counter. I am absolutely going to google shit in front of you like you’re a dadgum noob. Is it really actually helpful with the older crowd? Yes. Is it appropriately humbling to people my own age? Yes.
Basically, any time you need to buy a part from an auto store, come in with your VIN (take a picture of it off the engine, have the registration, insurance or title, literally doesn’t matter which, we can find a way,)
Also the easiest parts to install/replace are most kind of sensors (o2 usually, pay attention to upper or lower) pay attention to upper and lower radiator hoses, light bulbs (finger oil ruins the whole bulb so get gloves when you replace them)
Coolant doesn’t matter much but googling it before hand will help me a lot…

Really annoying to watch in real time as hyped up tech investors artificially stretch the ai bubble by just... Redefining "ai" to include any new useful software so they can go "look at the potential of ai!" and act like Enhanced Autocorrect chatgpt still has potential to revolutionize workplaces.
Like. An article about using "ai" in farming talks about image analysis to catch disease or count leaves to measure plant health - which is actually an ai thing, but related to analysis not generating text/images. But then it also talks about "Smart Apply" spray systems that have sensors to more effectively target leaves and not waste spray in open air and that's like. That is detecting light and running an algorithm to spray where there is less light (so it turns off when you drive past a gap). I'm sure they've been refining the algorithm but we've had "turn this off when it detects too much light" for a long fucking time. If they have added any "ai" to that (to better differentiate foliage density?) it's significantly less "smart" and even further from resembling chatgpt.
And then they talk about "ai" irrigation systems which are just automatic water pumps with software that gathers data. It has auto shutoff if water flow passes X. It sends a ping about a suspected leak if Y doesn't equal Z. That's literally just automation software. That's "your microwave does X amount of energy for Y minutes unless the door opens and triggers auto shutoff". The only thing *maybe* "ai" is that the valve "learns" typical water use, and that could also just be a guy pulling up the usage data because the only system in which your valve is making decisions is if you have a separate ai system like the first one doing leaf health analysis that then automatically sets the irrigation level for the day because the plants seemed dry. Which is a totally different feature only vaguely alluded to and not part of the automatic irrigation system. Which you can definitely get sans ai because the features you have described as revolutionary are just normal enhancements of normal control software.
And none of this is remotely the same thing as the random plug about using chatgpt to develop, label, and price a wine bottle. Which why the hell would you use Enhanced Predictive Keyboard Text chatgpt to do that?
I mean, I know "artificial intelligence" is a buzzword and not a distinct thing, but running an algorithm to operate a system used to just be called adding a computer, and we were aware that computerizing one process for efficiency did not stop a completely different computerized process from being an ineffective waste of money that people probably shouldn't have invested in.

1952 Oldsmobile 98 Convertible
The Oldsmobile 98 (spelled Ninety-Eight from 1952 to 1991, and Ninety Eight from 1992 to 1996) is the full-size flagship model of Oldsmobile that was produced from 1940 until 1942, and then from 1946 to 1996. The name – reflecting a "Series 90" fitted with an 8-cylinder engine – first appeared in 1941 and was used again after American consumer automobile production resumed post-World War II. It was, as it would remain, the division's top-of-the-line model, with lesser Oldsmobiles having lower numbers such as the A-body 66 and 68, and the B-body 76 and 78. The Series 60 was retired in 1949, the same year the Oldsmobile 78 was replaced by the 88. The Oldsmobile 76 was retired after 1950. This left the two remaining number-names to carry on into the 1990s as the bread and butter of the full-size Oldsmobile lineup until the Eighty Eight-based Regency replaced the 98 in 1997.
Occasionally additional nomenclature was used with the name, such as L/S and Holiday, and the 98 Regency badge would become increasingly common in the later years of the model. The 98 shared its General Motors C-body platform with Buick and Cadillac.
Since it was the top-line Oldsmobile, the series had the most technologically advanced items available, such as the Hydramatic automatic transmission, the Autronic Eye, an automatic headlight dimmer, and Twilight Sentinel (a feature that automatically turned the headlights on and off via a light sensor and a delay timer, as controlled by the driver), and the highest-grade interior and exterior trim.
