ok, guys, memes and jokes aside...
are you folks aware that the new pope was chosen not bc he's USamerican, but bc he made most of his career in Latin America, right????
Pope Leo XIV has been the president of the Pontifical Comission for Latin America up until his election as Pope Francis' successor today may 8, 2025.
now, why does it matter????
bc here in Latin America the Catholic Church has been losing ground to Evangelicanism at least since the 1990s.
for example, here in Brazil, a country known for having the biggest Catholic population in the world, the proportion of Catholics has decreased from 74% in 2000 to 65% in 2010, all while the proportion of Evangelicals went from 9% to 22,2% in the same time period, according to the data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (Portuguese: Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística; IBGE) shown in this article by BBC Brasil about the challenges that the new Pope will face during his papacy.
and, if people in this website don't know that already, Latin America is a historically Catholic territory, since it was colonized by traditionally Catholic countries Portugal and Spain.
so, electing the guy who was responsible for Latin American affairs in Roman Curia signals that this region will be the focus of this new papacy.
now, the question that tumblr might be asking: is it good or bad???
well, the thing is, Latin American Evangelicanism is probably as conservative, if not more, than USamerican Evangelicanism and also Latin American Catholicism, so, all in all, in terms of broader politics, things will probably stay the same in regards to stuff like abortion and LGBTQ+ rights tbh 😔
actually, for example, one of the strongest groups in Brazil in the rise of neoconservatism and the far right, along with the "alt right" and the incels and the military etc, is the so-called Evangelical Parlamentary Front (even if it's worth noting that there are some Evangelical politicians afiliated with the left like Marina Silva, Benedita da Silva, pastor Henrique Vieira etc who are dissident forces, just to show how complex all things in Brazilian and Latin American politics are)
but, historically, a focus on a more pastoral approach and trying to meet the needs of the community here in Latin America ended up inspiring actual left-wing Catholic movements like liberation theology, which here in Latin America drew a lot from Marxian social-economic analyses even if they didn't adhere to all of its principles (which also was one of the reasons why it was condemned by the Catholic Church).
so, who knows what might happen tbh.
i am personally not a theologian, so i can't discuss what Leo XIV's papacy possibly means in terms of the Catholic legislation of it all.
but i'm a citzen of Latin America who also happens to have a bachelor's degree in social sciences, so, explaining a bit of the context of the region in this very Europe and USA-centric hellsite feels almost like a duty so that you folks can see beyond your personal experiences and your countries' experiences by extension for once

HEY GAMERS!! do you enjoy top down strategy games that integrate real world physics? working collaboratively to solve complex optimization problems? tile-based gameplay? well then do i have the videogame for you!!
let me introduce you to the COMMUNITY EARTH SYSTEM MODEL
created by the united states national center for atmospheric research, the community earth system model (or cesm as it’s known to fans) uses a combination of physical equations and statistical parameterizations to simulate water, energy, and biogeochemical fluxes within and between different components of the earth system. the goal is to get the model to align as closely as possible to the real world earth system state. check out these cool concept diagrams to get an idea of how it works!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
wow, this sounds awesome! what’s gameplay like?
glad you asked! in cesm there are unlimited ways to play. one popular gameplay mode is called a “parameter perturbed experiment”. try adjusting model parameters such as the consumption rate of convective available potential energy and relative humidity threshold for low cloud formation to determine which parameter values get you outputs closest to real world observations! atmospheric physics not your thing? not to worry! cesm has something for everyone: from ecology to oceanography to physical geography, you’ll be sure to find something you like!
how do i get into cesm?
typically at least bachelors degree in the natural sciences is required. if you don’t have yours yet you can reach out to your local university and enroll today!
sign me up! what are some other cool things about cesm?
the cesm community takes part in something called a “model intercomparison project”, which is basically like one big smash tournament except with earth system models. compete against other models from across the globe to see whose performs the best!
cesm is a crucial tool for understanding our planet and its outputs provide incredibly important information for enabling us to anticipate and respond to environmental challenges. so next time you’re bored and don’t know what to play, how about giving the ol’ community earth system model a try?

i'm not sure if you have already answered a question like this... but this is a two parter so buckle up! i'm a high school senior (in the US) and i'm very uncertain about my future and need a nice big GOAL to push for. right now i think urban planning is it. i'm hoping your answers might clear some stuff up for me.
number 1- what got you into urban planning/urban design? was it something you saw in your community? at what age did you realize this? what kinds of things did you do when you were younger that you realize now could have indicated your future interest in this career path?
number 2- materials. do you have a list of literature, articles, resources, or creators that you like to go to for indulging personal interests in urban planning/design. this can include university assigned literature too ofc, i'm just wondering if you have any recs of materials to consume that could kind of point me in the right direction. (aka help me see if my current interest is real by seeing if i'm geniunely interested in literature on the subject of urban design)
anyways, ik that was a long one!!! pls take your time 😭 and cool sideblog you have just gained a follower :)
hi pluto! no worries about the length, I have a science degree so I'm used to 2000 word papers ahaha (this is not to brag btw it was a pain in the ass the whole time I studied it, would only recommend if it's your jam)
so glad to hear you have a goal and I get that feeling! tbh when I look at the many multifaceted things I want to make a difference in, being able to do something that influences people's lives in such a fundamental and behind-the-scenes kind of way really keeps me going.
OKAY so the thing that got me into this was actually permaculture! when I was your age we did a geography unit on feeding the world while conserving the environment, and, for context, my high school also had what was basically an accelerated design program at the time (totally by accident, one dedicated teacher and my grade who were Very Into this kind of thing). basically, back to geography, where that unit landed was
"Permaculture is a design system for the creation of socially, economically and ecologically sustainable settlements, whether in rural areas or metropolitan cities.” – Bill Mollison
and I was like! aha! design! see at this point, roughly 7 years ago, urban design wasn't that big of a field yet (most degrees in it have only popped up in the last decade or so) and so I thought a career in design at that point meant one of three options that didn't really appeal to me: architecture/ landscape architecture / interior design, industrial design/ engineering, or graphic design/animation. BUT!! on this day I was proven wrong!! because the definition in itself said design! and it was about being socially, economically and ecologically sustainable so I'd get to do Social Justice Things and Environment and Biology Things as well as use my knowledge of smallholder farming and business running from my side gig of breeding guinea fowls. At that point I knew what I wanted to do! I looked up permaculture degrees, and found nothing at a university level--which I knew I wanted to study because to understand the planet and our design needs, I thought I needed a lot more education.
Instead I applied to a bachelors of environmental science at several universities in Australia. The employment prospects were good, and I did biology in high school, and climate change was a Big Talking Point I thought I'd do well to understand a bit better. As well as ecology--living in Queensland at the time, it's one of the most rapid areas of land clearing. Urban design came later; for my fourth year I was required to do a year-long research project and write a thesis on it. There was a lot of emphasis on choosing something you know you can do for an entire year, and at this point I had three and a half years of backlogged ideas on how to make changes to our civilisations to be better for the environment, so I knew I wanted to do something that would allow me to express them in design. One of my capstone subjects was one on river catchments, and in it we studied something called water sensitive urban design. I arranged a crossover project between my lecturer for that subject and someone from the school of design at my university I later found out was the course coordinator of the master of urban design. She suggested this degree to me, and I enrolled--just at a different university to where I did my undergrad. tbh, it's everything I wanted at 17 when I wanted to design human scale civilisations that incorporate the principles of permaculture. I only wish working in the industry was more activism-led and less following a status quo that has historically been terrible for the environment and nonwhite people, and is making much too slow progress to remedy this.
PART 2: okay this will be a short one because I am that student who literally NEVER does any of their readings. I do them, eventually, at the end of my degree (like I did for environmental science) where I just save all the links and read through EVERYTHING for my entire degree at once. so I could not tell you what the good readings are. HOWEVER I want to push something: this field is NOT about reading. it is rooted in science, yes, but unlike something like biology it is a much more applied science. At its core, it is about problem-solving and innovation. It's about listening to your users. It's about holding their perspectives and their longings, and that of the land as well. It's about listening and creating. So I want to ask you these questions: 1) can you draw, whether on paper or digitally? Can you visualise things in your head and then translate that to a document? 2) can you collate several genres of information (planning law, ecology, social needs of MANY groups of people, stakeholder conditions, hydrology, the user experience, just to name a few) and use this to create a solution that covers all bases? and 3) can you listen to the land and the stories it tells, and would like to tell? Have you listened to you local Indigenous community about who they were before colonisation, how they feel now, and what they want to be? Are you ready to be the person who helps them see that vision? Are you ready to be the person who helps us see a vision of less traffic, of low carbon lifestyles, of being outdoors and meeting each other in peace?
I'll put up some links for reading sometime down the line when I hunt down where I saved them all to, but the reason I tend away from making this discipline too academic is because you're designing for the everyday person. You're not designing only for the small percentage who are capable of having academic conversations. You need to understand what someone on the street is saying behind their words, at least as much as you need to understand something some academic wrote in a paper or a book or even a council website. You're here to listen to the marginalised, listen to the need for connection of the wealthy who are hiding it behind accumulating things, and then have those perspectives in mind when you build up a collection of tools on how to make those needs a reality.

headcanos for the college life of the boys, pls?😭 (+ what their major would be)
college life
,,,,,anon are you in my head?? i shit you not, this exact scenario has been sitting in my notes app for like a month jskdfnkjs that being said, this will all be based off my own experiences with american universities
i'm actually looking to go back to college! i reapplied for my university, and also applied to another just in case, but i'm anxious to get back to it
lots of changes have been happening lately.
genre: other, crack if you squint
cw: language, no beta we die like men
Lucia
❧ most definitely majors in business or communications, but minors in political science (polisci)
❧ he joined a frat as a first year, got a little freaked out over the hazing part but was in too deep to back out, so he stuck it out
❧ idk how frats work, but he ended up becoming a big to a few freshies in his later years :,)
❧ does debate club/moot court as an extracurricular and comes up with the most bullshit arguments that,, surprisingly make sense
❧ since he has the means and the will, he goes to grad school for his masters degree but goes for something more to do with law or criminal justice, having been inspired by moot court
❧ however, he doesn't go for a phd and doesn't go to law school or anything, settling for a job in local government
Levy
❧ starts out as a regular history major, but by his second year he changes it to specifically military history, with a minor in medieval and early modern studies (mems)
❧ spends most of his time in the history building or at the campus library, where he has a part time job, but he also made it a point to join the university's polo team. anytime he's stress out about something, he'll go and care for the horses
❧ makes regular appointments with his advisor, but they became so frequent that the two of them end up getting coffee once a month and to catch up
❧ most definitely is on the dean's list and graduates with high honors
❧ starts being a ta in the second semester of his third year, and does it every semester following. he's the sort of ta that you either find annoying and insufferable, or you have a massive crush on
❧ goes on to get his masters and phd in military history, concentrating in some probably really obscure period of time
Mefy
❧ kinda a mix between his brothers, he's a polisci and mems double major; he couldn't pick which he liked more so he double majored instead of making one a minor
❧ out of curiosity, he went to go see the theater department's production of the iliad and was enamored at the idea of putting on shows of ancient stories and plays, so he took it on as an extracurricular
❧ he tries to keep his newfound hobby a secret from his brothers, but they eventually find out and come to every one of his shows :,)
❧ he does well in class and participates enough so that the profs all know him by name and are fond of him, but mefy secretly hates most of them, save for his war history prof and the theater director
❧ carried on to grad school, focusing on the politics of war in early and medieval times, but doesn't pursue more than a masters
Oswald
❧ started out as a geography and environmental science (ges) major, but unintentionally selected the bachelor of science path instead of the bachelor of arts path
❧ cue his horror when he sees that he has to take not just bio, but math up to calculus and physics
❧ he tries to push through, he really does, and he comes to enjoy a good chunk of his sciencey classes,,, but eventually it was too much, and he brought it up to his advisor, who suggested to switch to a ba, and poor mans was like "a what??"
❧ but he's doing much better now as a ba, and discovered a new passion for environmental justice!!
❧ got a job working with the campus maintenance crew and helps take care of the landscaping; he also joins the environmental club which helps keep the campus clean and safe, and they also get to work in the compost gardens!
❧ he unfortunately wasn't able to consider grad school due to funding, but with the help of his advisor, he was able to get a certificate and an internship in agriculture!
Kaim
❧ ok it's so hard to imagine this man in college,, he just seems so old to me lol
❧ but we can all agree he most definitely attended an ivy league school, majoring in music and joining the campus orchestra
❧ he also found interest in the culinary program and got a little job with the campus event catering staff to help prepare the food and serve guests at fancy events, and he stuck with it for so long that he became part of their management!
❧ his experience with that job lead him to discover that his university offers a hospitality studies program, and he got his certificate in that
❧ he was also absolutely an ra and enforced his rules so much that he had to be moved to a majority upperclassmen hall because all the freshies loathed him and kept asking admin to change dorm halls lol
❧ got really good grades and made the deans list, and actually got scholarship money to go to grad school, but he just simply didn't want to and was content with his bachelors degree
Mikael
❧ he majored in astronomy, with a minor in linguistics and ancient studies. he originally planned to major in astrophysics, but upon realizing just how much math would be involved, he was repulsed and settled for astronomy
❧ it's not that he can't do math, he very much knows how to and he's incredibly intelligent, he simply just doesn't want to do it lol
❧ he's sort of an enigma on campus, he's got this otherworldly air about him, like he's not from this time; whether that means he's a visitor from the past or future is up to interpretation, but it intimidates the hell out of everyone else that he's mostly left alone
❧ he attends all of the ancient studies and mems events, and he's also in the astronomy club; in fact, he's one of the only members of his club to attend every single meeting without fail, no matter how late in the night it is
❧ attends grad school and gets his masters in ancient linguistics, and later focuses on how ancient civilizations interpreted astronomy and how it affected their culture, which earns him his phd
❧ rubs his phd in lucia's face at any chance he gets, practically forces the man to call him dr. mikael
Ricardo
❧ tried his hardest to pick the easiest major, but none of the classes were interesting to him and his advisor all but begged this man to pick something he's actually interested in; so now he's a war history major lol
❧ he also joins a frat, influenced by media's portrayal of them and assuming that he's gonna party every night and get loads of bodies; however, he doesn't realize that he actually needs to keep a certain gpa to stay in the frat, and that he has rules he needs to follow, so he almost gets kicked out several times
❧ he shapes up pretty well by his second year, which is also when he looks into volunteering with campus police and eventually gets a part time job with them
❧ he does manage to graduate on time, and is more than content with just his bachelors; he told his advisor he'd rather shove a gun up his ass than go to grad school
❧ his advisor, along with all of his profs hated him, and are so happy to see him gone
Noel
❧ surprisingly, he majors in biology and is on the premed track for pharmaceuticals; he has an interest in the medical field, but doesn't want to be a doctor or nurse, so he figured working in a pharmacy or even making medicine would be the way to go
❧ also surprisingly, he's like really good at the more difficult subjects, like organic chemistry. he's flying through the work during discussions, to which his partners are all like "???? teach us???"
❧ unfortunately, he is not a good teacher. he knows the content, he really does, but he cannot for the life of him understand how he got there. "you just,,, do it? like write it all down, and convert it and you're done" i've never taken orgo
❧ it got to a point where the prof was convinced he was cheating, but when they tested him, he was even able to mental math that shit and he was left alone lol
❧ stumbled in on the cosmetology students working on their hair dressing, and was like "can i do that?", scaring the hell out of everyone when did he get here?? but they took him in and he helps them study and practice
❧ other than that, he spends his spare time hanging out in the wellness center or outdoor zen gardens, and he also joined the environmental club to help upkeep the gardens makes sure to hand the smelliest piles of compost to oswald
Lucas
❧ double majors in art history and literature, so he spends a lot of time in the humanities and fine arts buildings
❧ at least five people in all of his classes have a massive crush on him; he's just so pretty and smart and he reads??? awooga!! but most of those crushes dissipate once they try and have a conversation with him, they just can't follow along with his train of thought
❧ speaking of which, his profs either love him or hate him. he'll come up with the most bizarre and elaborate interpretations of texts and art and still somehow have solid reasons to back it up. anytime they have socratic style discussions in class, no one can follow up or argue when he speaks because,,, what the hell did he even just say?
❧ but every now and then, he'll break through to them all and say something that, one, makes sense and, two, is so though provoking and interesting that it leads into an hour long discussion and research party
❧ decided to be an ra in his second year, but ultimately stepped down by the end of that year due to stress. now it's like he did a full 180, breaking every rule he ever enforced, especially the curfew one. it's so common to spot him walking around campus at ungodly hours of the night that he's essentially become a sort of cryptid
❧ he uses his free time volunteering in community service and activism. anytime there's a protest on campus that supports a good cause, he's there the entire time. he'll also help organize events like that, passing around and posting flyers across campus
Kurt
❧ majors in zoology with a minor in environmental studies
❧ i keep picturing my physical geography prof who was so into birds, like a stupid amount, i think the two would get along well
❧ he starts a club that focuses on caring for campus wildlife and making a safe environment for them, be it picking up litter or putting up bird feeders
❧ he runs the campus shoot-your-shot page, and is surprisingly good and matching up submissions and helping people find their person

ok so i dont this often but i have to pour my heart out: a year ago i reached a kind of dead end with my career and study aspirations. I had finished my bachelor of science degree in physical geography and geology and kind of wanted to change things up a bit. I was either ready to leave earth sciences completely and go into literature, but that meant starting a new bachelors which i couldnt afford so i decided to stick in the realm of earth and quarternary sciences. I choose archaeological sciences and geoarchaeology as a new field and am now doing my masters in Tübingen, Germany in said field. BUT i am unhappy. i miss pure geology and global tectonics, climatology and minerals, etc. I have a fairly good thesis topic, but i still plan on going back into earth sciences. also my polar obsession that came back recently is like .. showing me again that I am more interested in natural processes than anthropogenic ones and i feel like a 17 year old girl again, all giddy to become a polar geologist. Which i cant be anymore - because i am an archaeologist now and antarctica has little to no human impact :') ANYWAYS needed to get this off my chest, lets see what i will think about this in a year.

the wolf pack members and their ages
With the story starting two years later everyone is two years older anyway. But the pack members specifically would be too young still, at least to me.
I always thought Sam was supposed to be at least three years older than Bella, when it’s really only one year of age difference between them. So, I just decided to age everyone up, because let’s face it – Collin and Brady being only 12 and Seth just 14 is really insane.
Since that decision lead to most of them being done in school I also thought what they study or what they work as –
Sam – born in 1981, 5 years older
shifts into a wolf shortly before his 25th birthday. He has a degree in biology and archaeology and is a Federal Park Ranger of the Olympic National Park, which makes him a colleague of Charlie and Emmett.
Brandon - born in 1981, 12 years older
shifts for the first time a few days after Sam. He has a bachelor's degree in informatics and became a character rigger, working from home. In the beginning of the story he and Sam live together in Levi Uley's old house, a ten minute walk away from the town's edge of Olympic Bay.
Emily – born in 1984, around 3 to 6 years older
is a teacher of traditional arts at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay and also bakes various desserts for her parent’s café. She will still be Sam’s imprintee, but she won’t act like a caretaker towards the pack.
Jared – born in 1986, 4 years older
is studying accounting at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay, simply because he is good at maths. But he has no clue, what he wants to work as later. He is Brandon's younger brother.
Paul – born in 1986, 4 years older
is studying biology and geography at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay and wants to become a Park Ranger as well.
Kim – born in 1986, 4 years older
is studying linguistics, literature and various languages (she has an easy time learning new languages) at the Peninsula College in Olympic Bay. She aims to become a book translator. She also works at Olympic Bay’s library and will be Ella’s colleague.
Embry – born in 1988, 2 years older
at the beginning of the story, he is in senior year of high school. But he will start an apprenticeship to become a mechanic. He helped Jacob with repairing Billy’s truck, before fixing up an old enduro motorcycle while Jacob worked on his own car.
Jacob – born in 1988, 2 years older
is also finishing senior year and will start an apprenticeship to become a mechanic, just like Embry. Both of them will work and learn in the shop where Rosalie works too.
Leah – born in 1983, 3 years older
is finishing a degree for pharmaceutical and medical sciences, to eventually become a pharmacist, at the University of Washington. She will keep studying during the story and be in Seattle most of the time.
Seth – born in 1989, 3 years older
is in high school junior year at the beginning of the story and will be in senior year when he shifts for the first time.
Quil – born in 1988, 2 years older
is in senior year of high school at the beginning of the story. But he will go to culinary school in Olympic Bay to become a cook when he shifts for the first time.
Collin - born in 1990, 3 years older
is in high school sophmore year at the beginning of the story, will just have finished his junior year and be the youngest member of the pack when he shifts for the first time.
Rachel - born in 1983, 3 years older
she will neither be a shifter, nor Paul's imprintee. But she will still be an important member of the pack, as their sage*.
*the sage of the pack is something new within my rewrite

𝐇𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞: What do you think of magic?
I do believe there are things in this world we cannot explain. Because of that I cannot say magic does, or does not exist. There are enough people capable of 'miracles' so to speak, so I am inclined there is some kind of energy we cannot grasp.
Personally I have had some experiences with people giving me 'charms' so to speak, and they have worked. I am also familiar with the evil eye, and I am convinced it is a thing.
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞: What's your favourite season of the year?
I am one of those people who prefer winter. As a Norwegian I am fully capable of holding the cold at bay, but the heat? I die if the temperature is higher than 25°C/77°F.
𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐚: What is/was your best school subject?
Through out high school I always got A's in subjects like; History, English (advanced and regular), Social Sciences, Geography, Sociology, Social Anthropology as well as Creative subjects. My favourite was definitely history however, an alternate version of me is a professor within that or working as an archaeologist.
In university I did a bachelor within the arts, something I am passionate and talented at... so there it was everything really. But I did get my highest marks and compliments in Art History!

how does one get started with learning geography?
I started by spending the better part of a decade looking at maps online until my neural pathways make it impossible to think about anything in the real world without visualizing its geographical emplacement and distribution, plus what I learned in the geography class my last year of high school provided me (it wasn't that good of a class tbh) and now I'm getting a bachelor's in geography, with probably a master's after that but I'm not sure yet.
As for getting started with the various branches and general geographical thought outside of academia, then I'm sorry but I don't know what to tell you. The internet is filled with wonderful entry level stuff but that's it, I haven't yet found any (true and worthwhile) deeper dives into any kind of geographical analysis save for pdfs of academic works.
Geography in the modern day is a very misunderstood discipline and part of the reason comes down to its more basic objects of study being much more well known than the more advanced analyses, it's like if most people thought math never goes deeper than exponents and parabolic graphs in a two dimensional plane. It's a very sad reality IMO and that makes it very hard to find good resources on actual geography as a science rather than a collection of cloropeth maps, a list of rivers and mountains, and a collection of fun facts

Heyyy,
Do you maybe want to talk more about your master thesis and/or what you study in general?
Do you have pets?
Hope you have a lovely day!! 💜
Hey thanks so much for sending the ask 💜💜
I study biology! I did my bachelors in geography and biology but realized I had more of an interest in the latter, which is how I ended up in a masters program for biology. Since I always wanted to get a degree in translation or linguistics I chose an international master program in English to motivate me (which works at times but not always lmao). Nature sciences in themselves are very interesting but I’ve always missed the creative aspect, which is probably also why I can’t seem to stop writing fanfiction now that I’m back in a fandom.
As to pets: I’ve pretty much grown up around animals. We always had dogs, at times guinea pigs as well, and I started horse riding when I was four and only stopped three-ish years ago because of uni. I genuinely can’t imagine not being around animals, although living in my tiny student flat I obviously can’t have any pets. But I’m always excited to see our families dogs when I’m on a visit home (they’re both stray dogs and very adorable).
I hope you have the loveliest day as well 💜💜

One of my teachers, a really cool and interesting guy, once said that, if you had an idea, and someone else did that, then it was never yours. An idea is yours if you think it and go as far as you can with making it real. That is when it is your idea. And I don't know how to make games, especially not on the level I think this idea deserves to be made on, but I do have the idea, and I've thought on how to theoretically make it, though I am sure that counts for little. Anyways, here it is: A horror game based on the idea of superposition, where something can be in multiple states until measured. In this case, it is the (what I'll refer to as) monster that is in superposition, in multiple locations at once, perhaps in different forms as well. I never liked the overused horror monster that could only kill when not looked at, so I turned it on its head. Now we have a monster, created by the classic human meddling with space-time, that you must absolutely not look at it. Measure it with thine eyes, and it will be there, and it will see you as you see it, and boy does it want you dead. You'll have to go through the tight halls of a wrecked Research Centre™ as well as disturbingly large rooms, and in a place as ruined as this, you best watch your step, or meet your end at something as boring as sharp debris, falls or inconveniently positioned equipment.
What was the reason for all this science mumbo jumbo that lead to this creature? Why, the search for immortality of course. If you could exist in multiple states at one time, it would not matter if you died once, you have more states to live in that are perfectly fine. Except whoever greenlit this project probably didn't consider the consequences of using death-row inmates as test subjects, and skipping any animals. The result was a "human", born a big ol' murderer, that had their atoms flung around a tad too much and now they resemble that of a blended squirrel without the fur and double the terror. And this stuff was in prototype phase, so each and every state of the poor buddy is gonna be uniquely screwed up. Maybe they have about fifty six eyes too many and they really don't appreciate not having any eyelids... That or the pain of being a flesh creature with too many views of one ugly idiot staring at them. Maybe they're blinder than the genetical defect of a child between a mole and a bat with the hearing of Mr. Krabs when the cash register goes off, and god are your footsteps loud and annoying (but, you know, also the immeasurable pain of being a creature like that.) I think you get the idea. Don't worry, they won't stay put even if they want to though, being a "living" creature in superposition is not your average Tuesday (the canonical day this would take place) and their states just kinda float around when not observed. Maybe the freaky, breathing blob of skin is on the 4th floor one moment, but the other, it is two feet to your left.
Oh, but of course, you want to GET OUT of the terrifying and dangerous ruin, yeah, I forgot about that tidbit. How do you do that? Well, this wasn't your run of the mill Bachelors students doing a group project, the Government™ was all over this and made sure it was the number one top secret. Only people who knew worked in the place itself, or at least resided there, and they did not fancy any easy access, so you gotta go against some big ol' doors, buddy.
Now gimme a second to decide where this takes place geographically. Okay, did some wheel spinning, picked a country from every continent plus one from the entire world, and the mix of all these is gonna be what this country is gonna be like: Europe, Estonia; Asia, Armenia; Africa, Tunisia; North America, Grenada; South America, Bolivia; Oceania, Nauru and all countries, Netherlands. Okay, so let's say they have the language of Estonia, architecture of Armenia, food of Tunisia, people of Grenada, geography and nature and terrain and stuff of Bolivia, history of Nauru and general influences on all parts from Netherlands. Credit to random wheel jr.
Oh and there's also Martin. Martin is just chilling. The whole superposition thing worked perfectly on him, he wasn't even supposed to be on death row, got framed by accident (he doesn't mind.) He just exists all over the world. Maybe you see Martin, he says hello, asks how your day is, that stuff. Come back the next day and he isn't there, but don't worry, one of him will float back around to you one day. He just chills, nothing much. No pain, no anger, no nothing. Just a cool guy. Scared of the water, but otherwise unperturbed, just carries on existing.

High King/High Queen of the Principality of Federation of Kingdoms of Ethanxiia of an alien planet Ethanxiia
Paramount Chieftain and Warchief of the Confederacy of Nations of Iuyumania on the planet of Iuyamania
High King/High Queen of Mu or Hawaiki. Imagine Mount Olympus, Asgard, or Themyscira but for Indigenous Pasifika demigod metahumans and Indigenous Pasifika alien hybrid superhumans. A series of floating, terrestrial, & underwater kingdoms that was a federation or empire. It was created because of strong mystical, esoteric, arcane energies intrinsically tied to the sea, air, & land. It was built with the help of alien technology, divine help from polytheistic pagan pantheons, and arcane human magic. It was a magical focal point and is the strongest in power. It is an utopia dedicated to the free exchange of information and ideas of diverse and inclusive communities.
Through the influence of the government, military, scholars, & monarchs the empire or federation flourished and grew into an advanced realm unlike any other on the planet. Science, technology, & magic were the dominant means of power throughout the aquatic, terrestrial, & air supercontinent. They were already developing highly advanced technological wonders even in antiquity. Since its inception technology and magic were in sync and made the empire or federation both magically, scientifically, and technologically advanced. A terrestrial federation of kingdoms similar to its rival Hyperborea.
An underwater federation of kingdoms similar to its rival the technologically advanced Atlantean empire. A floating empire of kingdoms similar to its rival Asgard. Actually the size of a supercontinent. It is one of the earliest and most highly advanced cultural, technological, scientific, and magical societies on Earth.
It is an empire or federation that is further divided into kingdoms with each its own settlements, villages, towns, cities, counties, states. It is an oasis of civilization in prehistory, modern day, & the future. Although the arial, terrestrial, & aquatic federation or empire grew and prospered.
The civilizations of the outside world remained largely ignorant of Mu or Hawaiki for many decades, centuries, & millennia. In recent years however, it has found itself pushed to the forefront of public awareness. They are now considered the most technologically advanced federation of the planet.
The underwater throne room defended by sea elves riding dolphins, palace defended by merfolk and tritons riding sea unicorn, capital defended by weresharks riding (tiger, mako, & great white) sharks, & kingdoms are defended by Atlanteans riding whales (beluga, narwhals, & orcas). Their throne room is decorated with the skeletons of a megalodon, a mosasaurus, a plesiosaurus, a basilosaurus, & a livyatan. For Hawaiki the federation of kingdoms of Pasifika alien hybrids and demigods there were several kingdoms on land hidden by magic, several kingdoms floating in the air hidden by magic and technology, as well as several kingdoms underwater hidden by technology.
Their scientists develop a means so that their people could survive underwater, in the air, & on land. The experiment was a success and the serum transformed the citizens from normal human beings into a metahuman and superhuman species who could survive anywhere in the empire. The denizens of the empire or federation were changing to evolve new biological, emotional , intellectual, spiritual, and magical functions in order to better thrive. They altered differently from baseline homo sapiens due the high concentration of magic, technology, & science flowing throughout its vast territory. It's people gaining the ability to survive anywhere on land, sea, & air. Due to this habitual alternation all Hawaiki'an citizens of every nation of the empire or federation of demigods and alien hybrids are physically superior to baseline humans. As a result of being stronger, faster, tougher, smarter, and longer lived.
Chairman and CEO of Dynamic Sciences, Research, Development, Engineering, & Technology. It is a research organization, charity/philanthropy organization, and business corporation. It is the world's largest and most diversified multinational corporation. Complemented with a national and international chain of research laboratories. That is unconnected to the government or the military. It specializes in A.I., genetics, disease control, medicine, research and technology, nanotechnology, bionics, bio-engineering, pharmaceuticals, security, paramilitary weaponry, defense, aerospace, computer hardware and software, robotics, and metahuman and superhuman studies.
It was officially created in the 16th century. It is one of the oldest companies in the world. It began as a merchant business, an artisan guild, and trading company. As the company became more successful more branches were opened. Soon other companies were bought and absorbed. This was when expansion of the company turned into a global conglomerate with numerous headquarters, branches, & businesses in different countries. This turned it into a business conglomerate and corporation. It is a high-rise building as its own corporate headquarters.
It soon became a green company under new regulations and reforms and became environmentally conscious. It is known for its accessibility for disabled staff, employees, consumers, & visitors. It has been a forerunner in many fields of science, engineering, inventions, research, development, & technology. Its main headquarters are in California, Kansas, Ohio, South Carolina, & New York in America.
The tower was designed by its founder with the intention to serve as a beacon of modern human architecture. It was completed after a few years of excavation and construction. The tower itself cost several hundred million to build, update, & maintain. It was later redesigned by the current chairman and CEO to be a beacon of futuristic alien and human architecture.
It employs hundreds of thousands of people both human and alien of base human, superhuman, & metahuman origin with hundreds of buildings around the world. It employs hundreds of thousands of people of different diverse backgrounds. There are branch offices and headquarters all over the world. More than simply a superhero lair.
It is officially an advanced research, development, inventing, technology, science, engineering facility, a philanthropic/charity organization, and international business corporation. It is a multibillion research organization and business corporation. It is an advanced sciences, inventing, engineering, research, development, & technologies company with worldwide interests.
There are several lead scientists that work at the organization and corporation. They each have their own individual labs. The labs are equipped with the best and most advanced scientific equipment. Each of them are allowed to create whatever they think will help the company and technology advance. In the future it is a leading company in creating the most advanced technology in the world, star system, galaxy, & universe. He/she/they is their chief scientist. He/she/they are a life scientist who studies anthropology, anatomy, archeology, biology, botany, conservation, ecology, genetics, linguistics, marine biology, paleontology, psychology, physiology, sociology, and zoology. He/she/they are a physical scientist who studies astronomy, astrophysics, chemistry, cosmology, earth sciences, engineering, geology, geography, oceanography, meteorology, nanotechnology, planetary sciences, physics, & robotics.

Understanding the UPSC CSE Exam: Insights into Exam Pattern and Eligibility Criteria
Are you aspiring to become a civil servant and serve the nation with dedication and commitment?
If so, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) is your gateway to a prestigious career in the Indian bureaucracy. In this blog, we will delve into the crucial aspects of the UPSC CSE including the exam pattern and eligibility criteria, And also how Crack Academy to help you chart your path to success to crack UPSC.
1. What is UPSC CSE? The UPSC CSE is a highly competitive and renowned examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit candidates for various prestigious civil services in India. These civil services include the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and many others.
2. Understanding the UPSC CSE Exam Pattern: The UPSC CSE is a three-tier examination process:
Tumblr media
2.1. Preliminary Examination:
It is the first stage of the UPSC CSE and consists of two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (popularly known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT).
Both papers carry equal weightage (200 marks each) and are conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based).
General Studies Paper-I covers subjects like History, Polity, Economy, Geography, Science & Technology, Environment, and Current Affairs.
General Studies Paper-II (CSAT) evaluates candidates' aptitude in comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical ability, interpersonal skills, decision-making, and more.
2.2. Main Examination:
The Main Examination is the second stage of the UPSC CSE and consists of nine papers, out of which two are qualifying in nature: English and any Indian language of your choice.
The remaining seven papers are evaluated for merit and cover topics such as Essay, General Studies I, II, III, and IV, and Optional Subject Paper I and II.
Each paper is descriptive in nature, and the total marks for the Main Examination are 1750.
2.3. Personality Test (Interview):
The third and final stage of the UPSC CSE is the Personality Test, also known as the Interview round.
It is conducted to assess a candidate's personality, communication skills, leadership qualities, and suitability for a career in civil services.
The interview carries 275 marks and contributes to the final ranking of candidates.
3. UPSC Eligibility Criteria: Before applying for the UPSC CSE, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria:
3.1. Nationality:
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
For the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS), candidates must be Indian citizens. For other services, candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees, and PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) are also eligible.
3.2. Age Limit:
The candidate must be at least 21 years old on August 1st of the examination year.
The upper age limit varies based on the candidate's category:
General Category: 32 years
OBC Category: 35 years
SC/ST Category: 37 years
PwD Category: 42 years (for General and OBC), 45 years (for SC/ST)
3.3. Educational Qualification:
The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree from any recognized university or institution.
Final-year students awaiting results can also apply for the Preliminary Examination but need to submit proof of passing the examination while applying for the Main Examination.
