Summary: Eric Crowther is on the prowl for something very important. Something so important he is willing to risk his career and friend’s lives. But, as they will soon find out, they really aren’t his friends anymore.

Iain sat, hands propping his chin up, staring absentmindedly out the building window. He was in his classroom supposed to be grading papers, instead he was watching the birds peck at the trees.

He hadn’t been able to think straight since last night. Leo had refused to tell him who had gone and choked him in the middle of the street.

He’d ended up just letting his class talk over him, giving up at the very beginning of the day. He was too tired and distracted to deal with that.

“Iain!” Professor Crawther walked up to the classroom door and knocked on the door frame, a bright smile on his face.

Iain looked up, brushing the hair out of his eyes, “Eric,” he smiled, getting up from his chair and walking over to him.

Eric Crowther was one of the first friends he and Leo had made upon taking the job. He was a great guy, highly regarded by his students and peers.

“What’s up?” Iain saw the smile waver for a moment.

“Do you have any idea where Leo is?” He asked, a frown flickering over his bright smile.

“Oh, he’s ill, called in this morning,” Iain said, deciding he better not share the choking incident.

A deeper frown appeared over Eric’s face.

“Why? What’s the matter?” Iain asked, starting to get worried.

Eric shook his head, “Come see for yourself,” He gestured for Iain to follow him, turning around and walking towards the exit of the building.

Iain froze, fear starting to form all kinds of scenarios in his mind. Had a student gotten injured? Gone missing? He hurried to follow Eric, blinking in the harsh sunlight.

“What’s happened?” He demented again, trying to turn to face Eric but he just kept walking.

“Just hurry,” He said, breaking into a stride.

Now he was freaking out. Iain started running after him, only to be stopped when Eric spun around and pulled a gun from within his coat.

Iain barely had time to register the fact he had a gun to his head before the block of metal crashed into his temple.

His vision swam with darkness and he felt his legs collapse beneath him, sending him tumbling to the ground. The cold concrete was there to meet him.

He didn’t know what was going on anymore, everything was fuzzy. Iain tried to force himself to his feet but didn’t even come close to succeeding.

Eric’s hand wrapped around his shoulder and dragged him to his feet, shoving him against the brick of the wall. He pushed his mouth right against Iain’s ear, overly enunciating each syllable.

“Where. Is. He?” Eric whispered, and Iain felt the cold muzzle of the gun press against the side of his neck.

Iain swallowed, trying to clear the pounding pain obscuring his thoughts.

“I-I don’t know,” He slurred, barely managing to keep his eyes open.

Eric shook him roughly, “Yes you do!” He shouted, mouth still too close to Iain’s ear.

He tried to bring his hands up to his face, trying to block out the sound and light. He just wanted to melt into darkness, he couldn’t even figure out what Eric was talking about.

Eric grabbed his arm, pushing against the wall and forcing Iain to look at him.

“Tell me where Leon Fires is,” He snarled each sentence, a blazing fury alight in his eyes.

Iain shook his head, the world was spinning, even with Eric’s specification he could barely force his thoughts to who the heck he was talking about.

Eric scoffed, “Fine, you just come with me,” With that, he crashed the gun into the side of Iain’s head once again. This time, he crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

James sat silently, staring out the window, eyes focusing on every little detail that passed by.

Ben sighed, he had been talking to the other man for what was probably hours before realizing that he was no longer listening.

“Just gonna ignore me for the cars?” He asked.

When James didn’t answer, he scoffed and got down out of his chair, going to the small kitchen to get something to eat.

“You want a sandwich?” he called to the living room.

Predictably, James didn’t answer.

“Cool.”

Ben turned his focus to the jar of peanut butter laying open on the microwave counter. He sighed.

“James, why is there an open bottle of peanut butter on the microwave?” he called, not even bothering to look over his shoulder, he didn’t expect an answer.

Which is why he was surprised when James spoke out behind him, “Jar.”

Ben spun around to see him leaning against the door frame, hands in his pockets and correcting Ben’s grammar.

He rolled his eyes, “Right, yeah, why’s it there?”

James shrugged and nodded to the corner, “Bink was hungry last night, I suspect he got his own food.”

Ben glanced to the corner and, sure enough, the rascal cat himself was sitting there, licking his paws and looking smugly up at his humans.

Ben sighed and rubbed his head, “By now I think he owns us.”

James didn’t respond to his quip, instead walking over to the refrigerator, opening it, and throwing a fresh jar of peanut butter in Ben’s general direction. He had to dive to catch it, just barely grabbing it before it crashed against the wall.

“Dude, calm down!” Ben cried, setting the jar on the counter and turning to look at an unfazed James. “You want some?” He sighed, letting his arms fall to his side in submission.

James shook his head, “You’re the one who insists on eating every five hours,” With that, he turned on his heel and walked right out of the kitchen, quickly followed by Bink.

The orange cat looked greedily at the spilled peanut butter from last night, giving Ben a look that made him think that he was about to fight him for it. Instead, he merely followed his young human out the door, leaping up onto the couch beside him.

Ben shook his head, cats.

He started to scoop the butter off the microwave with a plastic knife, shoveling it back into the jar. Nothing needed to go to waste, they were broke enough already.

The knife slipped multiple times and nearly took out a chunk of his hand along with the peanut butter. Curse that cat!

When Ben was finished he finally got to making his sandwich, piling peanut butter onto it, followed by just a small amount of jelly. James was always disgusted by this way of making sandwiches, always insisting that it should have the same jelly to peanut butter ratio. Ben really didn’t care though, the guy was always insisting on one thing or another.

He marched out of the kitchen, improperly filled sandwich in hand, and plopped down in his chair. Ben glanced over to see James frowning at the door, looking almost as alert as Bink did.

“What’s up?” He asked, setting his sandwich on the napkin he had brought over.

James sprang up, rushing over to the window. “Someone’s here,” He said blankly.

Ben’s head snapped up, as an outlaw they always had to worry when they had some unexpected visitors. “Is it cops?”

James shook his head, “Bright yellow car, not inconspicuous enough for cops,” He rushed to the door, throwing the lock off.

Ben leapt up, “Woah! What are you doing?” He cried running over just as James opened the door to a very confused looking man.

“Who are you?” James demanded, gray eyes sizing him up as if he were a lion and the man a piece of prey.

He staggered back, “My bad, my bad, I meant to knock!” He cried.

Ben knew he didn’t recognize him. With the collar of his black coat turned up and the shadow of a large brimmed hat obscuring most of his face it was impossible. He knew what James would say though, “Do at least try to process what your eyes see. Otherwise, your brain is working for nothing.”

“James Fires, correct?” The man asked, his voice clearly dropping from kindly to cold.

“Yes, what does that mean to you?”

Ben glanced at him in shock, just giving people their names now it seemed.

“You have a brother, correct?”

Ben saw emotions chase each other across James’s face before it settled in a scowl.

“I do.”

“Good, good, I was hoping I hadn’t kidnapped the wrong person.”

James’s hand went to his pocket and he grabbed the knife he always kept there. He lunged forward, pinning the man against the wall and ripping his hat off. James shoved the knife against his throat and snarled, “Where is he?”

“James!” Ben didn’t know what else to say, he slowly advanced on the two, wishing he hadn’t left his gun on his bedside table.

“First, you will give me something,” The man said carefully, trying to move his head away from the knife that was getting dangerously close.

“What do you want?” James snarled.

“The knife.”

He froze, eyes locking onto the man’s. Then he scoffed and jerked his hands free of his coat.

“Yeah right. I warned him,” James turned on his heel and marched back into the house calling behind him, “You’ll have to buy your own Crowther.”

Ben didn’t know what to think, he just stood there blinking, the words of the conversation streaming through his mind and being turned into a jumbled mess. Why were they always so cryptic?

Crowther turned to Ben, “You may want to consider convincing your friend that his brother really is in danger. Tell him to meet me alone at midnight. He knows where,” Crowther then turned away, coat swirling dramatically behind him and walked swiftly away.

Ben heard Bink’s purrs and peered inside the open door to see James had reclaimed his seat on the armrest and was absentmindedly stroking the cat.

He rubbed his head, he felt like he was surrounded by people much smarter than he was. Which, honestly, was likely true.

“James, what was that man on about?” He demanded, walking into the room and closing the door behind him.

James didn’t answer.

“Oh no you don’t,” Ben snarled.

He walked forward and grabbed Bink, dragging the cat, who instantly started hissing and trashing, away from him. James leapt to his feet, hand poised with his knife before he realized it was Ben.

He stared at him for a few seconds before falling back into the couch and glancing pointedly at Bink.

“Right, I let Bink go, you tell me what’s going on.”

“Fine.”

Ben let Bink onto the ground, the cat immediately ran for Ben’s chair, leaping up onto it and placing his paw on his sandwich. He sighed, that cat was vengeful.

James didn’t say anything for a second, then, “I have a brother, you’ve heard of him, Leo?”

Ben nodded, coming to sit on the opposite side of the couch.

“We hadn’t spoken in years but I overheard someone talking about harming him. One of his colleagues, Eric Crowther. I approached him to find out more, all I found out is that he’s a psychopath,” James turned to stare at Ben, his normal “alright, my part’s done, what idiotic question are you going to ask now?”

Ben nodded, “Kay, so why does Crowther want your knife?”

“He’s a collector,” James said simply.

Ben nodded again, “Alright, I still barely get it.”

James sighed, “Then you don’t need to know,” He got up and scooped Bink off of Ben’s chair, tossing him to the ground.

“Toss the sandwich,” He suggested.

“No way. In case you can’t tell, we’re kinda broke,” He said.

James just rolled his eyes, “I have to go find Leo.”

“Yeah, I’m coming, hold on,” Ben grabbed his sandwich.

James shook his head, “Meet me at the end of the block.”

Ben sighed, “Sure.”

Iain raised his head, swallowing painfully and trying to blink the blurriness out of his eyes. It felt as if he had just slept for a year. He groaned softly, trying to bring his hand up to his eyes. Failing as he realized that they were tied down.

“Iain Atonal, highly regarded teacher at the university. Though some students say you’re a little too enthusiastic,” Eric’s mocking voice rang out, the older man walked into Iain’s blurry eyesight.

With a groan, he tried to force himself to look at him, wincing as the extra light only worsened his headache.

Eric smiled warmly before crouching right in front of him, “I checked Leo’s house, he’s not there. I checked your house, he’s not there. Tell me where he is, Iain.”

He shook his head, “I-I don’t know,” He stammered.

Eric lurched forward, grabbing Iain’s head and forcing him to look up at him. “Well then, you just don’t have any use to me.”

He pulled a gun from beneath his coat, pressing it against Iain’s temple for the second time that day.

“Gonna hit me again?” He asked through clenched teeth.

Eric scoffed, “Oh, no, I’m not going to do that,” With a click, he cocked the gun, “I’ll just shoot you.”

Iain wished he could stop his body from shaking. But he couldn’t, he was cold and could barely even see what was right in front of his face. In fact, without his glasses, trying to focus on the figure in front of him was agony.

He tried to pull his head away, inadvertently trying to use his tied up hands.

“Uh, uh, uh,” Eric tutted, “Go on, tell me.”

Iain licked his lips, “No thanks,” He rasped.

Eric pressed the gun harder, “Want to think again?”

Iain gritted his teeth, trying as hard as he could not to cry out, “No, I’d rather not.”

Eric scoffed and jerked the gun away, standing with a swish of his coat and spinning to face away from Iain. “Well, let’s see if we can get something out of you, huh?” A sadistic grin was marring his face. “You ever seen the scars a whip can give?”

@brauhala: Did Judy know she was doing "Judy at Carnegie Hall" the magical night that it happened? Do we ever notice the histories of our lives being formed as they happened, or is it always in retrospect? I asked @jeremymjordan that before walking on stage for our second show at @thelaneldn. We've spent so long being the young people climbing our way up what if this is the peak, and this is the prime of our careers and we hadn't quite noticed yet? Then it was time to embrace every moment, because playing those two nights on the West End at the Theater Royal Drury Lane was unmistakably a career pinnacle, and the love we exchanged with those two sold-our crowds is a feeling I'll never forget, and getting to share it with your best friend? It's one of the greatest gifts I could be given.

I'm new-ish to writing (i used to write fanfiction when i was like 13. i'm 18 now soo..) but I really wanna do it again.

So this is a list of characters/fandoms I write for as well as some rules for asks. Some things may be missing from this list so if you dont see something on this list, feel free to ask. :))

CHAPTER 4

CHARACTER UPDATES

HOLLOW COVE

WOLF CROSS: Joining as many searches as possible while also trying to keep morale up and things running smoothly with his pack, i.e people's moods primarily. Wolf will be scatterbrained and probably very different to how people have seen him, perhaps resembling how he was when Josie was killed. Lots of angst to be had. Is for the revision of the 3 day grace period, and not pulling his weight that much around the town like he has previously. There will be some strain between Jones and Crosses at this time as Jackson and Wolf will clash with things to do with Jack and Sophia.

BEAU SULLIVAN: He's had a revamp! Is still somewhat similar to bitchboy!Beau but is back to his og roots now and is more of a rounded personality. He'll be going on searches for Teddy and Sophia. Is for the revision of the 3 day grace period. Has a few opinions about what happened with Jack that previously he kept quiet but is making them known now that he didn't agree with how it was handled. Lots of angst to be had if he's on a search with Crosses?

CARLO RAMOS: Will be doing whatever he can to look for missing Cross members but Carlo remains focused on searches for Cece and Amaris. He's a genuinely quiet person around people he isn't comfortable with still, so would be good to see him teamed up or doing something out of his comfort zone. For the revision of the 3 day grace period but he isn't about to get political, so he isn't vocal about it. Possible angst if he's got a lead on something to do with Amaris and Cece but is told to hang onto it and wait, and possible doesn't.

CALEB GRIFFIN: Will be primarily focused on searches for Kenzie and Alana and Kel at this time, and generally any Vaisman wolf. He's an easy going personality so he can be teamed up with anybody. He's probably busy around the town too. Doesn't think the 3 day grace period is a bad idea, is considerate of resources and manpower that could be wasted if it's any shorter.

EVERETT JONES: Is pretty much family focused always, and is more worried about Hazel and Bodie at this time than anything else due to Maren's return. He is also, obviously, worried and focused on finding Teddy and even, possibly, the Crosses. Which would be good development for him lol. Is against the revision of the 3 day grace period, and has plenty of reasons as to why but settles that it should be 2 instead.

BENJAMIN WALTON: Is more worried about what's happening with the Belcourt coven. Diplomatic as ever and is for the revision of the 3 day grace period. He's working frequently through the town and is easy going so any thread works for him. Is probably a little bit distracted because he's concerned about the situation with Felix.

THUNDER RIVER

THORIN JANSEN: Will be part of the escape so everything is pretty plot specific for him. Obviously hilarious if he has threads with non-Visser wolves. Chaos always? So, anything goes. But ultimately he will work hard to aid the escape plan.

STORR ALFFSON aka STOLL: Pretty much the same as Thorin minus Chaos. Storr is a great person to get on board the escape plan, he's very practical and steadfast. But anything goes for him too.

BRENDAN MURPHY: A little less chaotic than Thorin but more chaotic than Storr. Will be a team player for the escape, and helpful too as he's resourceful. Could do something that he's already got a hoard of supplies that are useful and trying to convince him to hand it over

The Hilltop Players Present Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure”

After having canceled the first weekend run of the fall play “Measure for Measure” due to injury, The West Liberty University Hilltop Players are excited to kick off their 2023-2024 season with a production of one of Shakespeare’s so-called “problem plays”. Performances will take place Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 20, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 3:00 PM (the Sunday matinee is a sensory-friendly performance with reduced sound and lighting effects and the house lights remain on for the run of the show). Because of a generous gift from Thomas “TC” Cervone and Susan Creswell, all student tickets are free of charge. General Admission tickets are $12.50 each, with a Senior discount ticket of $10.00.  All performances will be on the campus of West Liberty University on the Kelly Theatre stage in the Hall of Fine Arts. Vienna is in turmoil after two decades of societal upheaval, and Duke Vincentio has abruptly decided to flee the city, leaving his faithful deputy, Angelo, in charge. Determined to put an end to moral corruption in Vienna, Angelo decides to strictly enforce even the most Puritan laws. When a young man named Claudio is sentenced to death, his sister Isabella pleads to Angelo for Claudio’s life. Many ethically questionable situations are present throughout the show, leaving the audience with much to discuss and process long after the curtain closes. The show is directed by Michael Aulick, Professor of Theatre at West Liberty. “There is a reason this play is called a ‘problem play’.  The story has some holes, the characters’ ethics are in question, and the verse is, at times, utter chaos” Aulick says.  “The play is and should feel as uncomfortable as real life often does. Therefore, we don’t think that the play is a ‘problem’ that needs to be fixed, but rather one that we should see and contemplate. We should leave the theatre with questions the audience can mull over in the weeks to come.” The production features a number of former Hilltop Players who have come back to lend their support to the program. Cassandra Hackbart (Class of 2013) is back on the Kelly stage playing the role of Mistress Overdone. Spencer Thomas (Class of 2016) is the technical director. Christopher Rees (Class of 2019) serves as the scenic designer. Alex Franke (Class of 2018) works as the lighting designer.  “It was a great experience returning to WLU and getting to work with some of my best friends all over again. It was like getting to experience a really great memory all over again and I look forward to having more opportunities to work with this team again soon,” Franke said. The cast features theatre majors: Len Batson, Roman Hicks, Daisy Deaton, Isabella Costantini, Benjamin Mounsey, Traelynn Alton, Rowland Dodd, Aidan Kosol, and Eva Tennant. What If...?

Connor Stoll was laughing.

He walked with his older brother, Travis, around the National Mall. There were crowds of people, made up of mostly tourists and schoolchildren. They alone weren't funny, it was their reactions. Connor had empty pockets.

People had too much stuff anyway. Designer sunglasses and watches, a few Jackson's and Benjamin's (who used cash nowadays?), iPhones and cameras, wallets. Connor knew they didn't miss them when they were gone because they didn't notice. Like, in his hands, he fiddled with his new iphone while the old owner, a man in his late fifties, walked away more interested in his gal-pal. Judging by the pictures and texts on his phone, between his ungrateful kids and his fugly wife, Connor saw why he was best-buds with twenty-year-old babysitter Helen Troy.

"You better get rid of that fast," Travis said, looking at Connor's phone.

He was being uncommonly thoughtful. There was no sarcastic smile on his lips to mirror Connor's, instead his blue eyes were hard. His shoulders were tense.

Connor paused, shaking his head. "Chill, bro. We're supposed to be having fun today."

"I know! But, tomorrow we go back to Camp and Luke..."

"Shut up." Connor conveniently found the nearest trash can and dropped the iphone in there. He faced his brother. "I don't want to hear anymore about Camp or him until tomorrow."

Lucas was their older half-brother and former Head Counselor of Cabin 11. Last summer, Percy Jackson, son of Seafood, revealed that Luke had stolen the lightning bolt and went rogue. Connor knew better. Luke had to be like a spy, or brainwashed by the other side. There was no way he was a bad egg. "Okay."

"Don't just say okay, dude," Connor said. He fell back in step with Travis. "Be okay."

Travis shrugged as if to say I'll try. Connor snorted. He didn't know what he expected from today.

This summer was supposed to be fun. Mama had asked if they wanted to stay with her for the summer. With some hesitancy they agreed.

Mama (i think i actually want her to linguistic professor with a specialization in dead languages like ancient egyptians and hierogylphics at the university of memphis, so, she is close with Dr. Thoth and clear-eyed), had gotten out of the halfway house and was in a tiny-teeny apartment with hot water and electricity was constant. Ma had managed a job as an administrative assistant, hours were rough and her boss was shit, but it was steady. Connor and Travis had secured part time positions at Sonic and Cheek E Cheese's respectively ... all was good for a week until Trav and Mama started to snap at each other, spitting poison and shooting death glares and putting him in the middle. It also didn't help that Mama's local nosy neighbor might just be Susan the Satyr, Susan had the strange habit of popping up wherever Travis or Connor were. Plus, Susan was unusually interested in taking all their used soda cans for scrap metal.

"Whoa-hey!"

Connor bowled over a kid. He did a spectacular dive curl onto the pavement. Connor had a sneaking suspicion in his other life he had been graceful. He got to his feet, scowling at the kid. Colorful cards spilled around him. Pokemon? Yugioh?

"Watch where you're going, kid!"

The boy had a nasty glare and a devastating kick to shin; Connor jumped, yelping. The boy hurriedly shoved the cards in the pocket sticking out his tongue and pushing off to disappear into the sea of people. Connor only stared, half wondering where the kid's parents were. Connor bet money on the kid being no older than ten.

Connor turned toward his brother, his shin pain already receding. Travis laughed in his face. Bright red colored in his cheeks. "I can't believe he did that--your face---pft."

It was good to hear Travis' laughter. On the other hand, Connor hated being the butt of the joke. Connor shoved Travis lightly, he growled, "Shut up."

"You don't need some ice for that pipsqueak's finishing move?" Travis cackled.

Connor knew he was going to be like this all day. If Mama didn't strangle Travis when they went home Connor would.

"Nico!" a girl yelled nearby.

She slipped into the spaces afforded to her. She caught Connor staring at her because she marched up to him. Most of her face was hidden by a dark green floppy hat, her long brown hair spilling out underneath. It didn't hide her glare. If the boy's glare had been nasty, her's was vicious. "Have you seen my brother?"

"Um?"

"He's about this tall, has hair like mine, maybe playing with cards?" she spoke rapidly.

Travis stepped in. "Yea." He pointed in the direction the kid had taken off. "We saw him. He went that way."

The girl glanced over her shoulder and back at Travis. She nodded once before she took off, bellowing her brother's name.

It was only when she was gone Connor noticed Travis had a new green hat.

Travis wiggled his fingers in Connor's face as if he read his mind. "It's all in the hands, bro."

"Whatever," Connor said. Perhaps, this day could be saved. "I'm hungry."

"Let's go get lunch."

The museums were the only thing free in Washington D.C. Everything else was a scam; Connor would know, he smiled as he read the prices off the menu.

Still. Connor was a fifteen-year-old boy that appreciated the finer things in life: overpriced half cooked mac & cheese and dino-shaped nuggets. He had Dylan Mandali to thank for he and his brother's meal if the credit card was anything to go by.

Travis went for the main food groups, three slices of cheesecake drizzled in strawberry sauce, four sugar cookies, a slice of lemon bread and the fruit juice counted as a daily serving of vegetables.

"Can I drive tomorrow?" Connor asked.

"Gods no," Travis shot him down with the expertise of a fly swatter. He played with the green cap.

"Why not?"

"You suck at driving, dude. You almost ran over our neighbor."

"Mrs. Gunderson came out of nowhere," Connor protested. "C'mon, that was my first time behind the wheel."

"Like your second time was any better." Travis crossed between incredulous and amused. "You ... "

"Icrashedintoahouse."

"What was that?" Travis cupped his ear, leaning over. "I crashed into a house."

"Bingo!" Travis pointed at him. "You crashed into a house. Thankfully, it wasn't our house or car and we're fast runners."

"But!" Connor had been getting better. Since the incident, Connor had successfully driven around their neighborhood. He was ready to drive on the real road.

"You don't have a butt, Con," Travis said. "You aren't driving."

Connor's ears grew hot. He abruptly got up. He went to get a water ice to cool his head. It was just like Travis to not listen to him and treat him like a child. He was only a year older and he flaunted it with every opportunity. It was another reason he missed Luke. Travis complained about feeling like a kid whenever Luke chided or sidelined him.

"Mommy! I'm hungry!" wailed a kid?

He looked like Dudley Dursley 2.0. Fat, round, and taller than kid Connor had ever seen.

Mommy was built like a famous bodybuilder, rippling muscles, thick brown hair, and enough makeup to make Paris Hilton gawk. She caressed her son's wobbling chins with one large hand. "Hold on, sweetie. We'll get you a juicy hero burger for lunch with a side of fries."

"Hero burger?" Connor muttered the Smithsonian cafe came up with names for their food all the time, but hero burger was a bit lame even for them. Maybe the Museum of Air and Space...

"Sir?" the cashier said. "What would you like?"

Oh. Connor smiled sheepishly. "Can I have the blue one." he handed her the stolen card. His water ice was given to him in a jiff.

The beauty of fast food. He grabbed a spoon walking by the screwball family. "I can smell 'em, Mommy. I want my hero burger now!"

"FEMUR BITER JUNIOR," Mommy yelled. People only glanced their way probably used to displays of outbursts by parents. "One more word and you won't be biting into any half-bloods."

Connor swallowed the ball of water ice. He looked at the family as if seeing them in a new light. In a way he was. The Mist was a pretty strong force that tricked mortals and demigods on the regular into seeing the true world as it made sense to them. Mortals saw a fat kid and a harried mom, Connor saw a baby giant and his giant ass Mama.

Connor tried to be casual as he hurried to brother's side, eating his wet ice as fast as he could. He tugged his brother by the arm. "Grab a cookie, lets go now," Connor said.

"Where's the fire? We just got here."

Connor glanced over his shoulder. Mommy and Femur Biter Jr were still arguing. "And now we are leaving. There are monsters here and I don’t think they're here to admire Washington's Dick."

Travis nodded. He did a grab cookie and Connor thought they were home free until Thing 1 and Thing 2 showed up.

Thing 2 shouted, drawing the attention of absolutely everyone. "That's Bianca's hat!" A damming finger pointed in their direction.

Travis and Connor stared at each with blue eyes for a moment. A moment was enough to share an entire conversation, at this moment they had one word on their mind: Run. They took off through the lunch doors, blowing passed the kids from earlier.

Connor waved a short goodbye. He was too busy trying put serious distance behind him and the monsters. Travis matched him step for step. He didn't know where they were going. Home might be a good option.

"Hey!"

Connor looked over his shoulder. His eyebrows shot up to see both Thing 1 and Thing 2 were surprisingly keeping up behind them and more importantly so were the Mommy and Femur Biter Jr. "They're on our tails," Connor said helpfully.

"Thanks for the traffic report. Do you have any update on the weather?"

The brothers rounded a corner. They squeezed into an elevator, panting. "Sorry," Connor said as he leaned against a shriveled old man like an arm rest. "We, erm, are really excited to see those exhibits."

The old man swatted him with a scowl and a mutter about the youths these days. Connor was happy to endure geriatric growls if it meant he would live to see another day. The elevator dinged. Connor and Travis rushed out.

Travis pulled him toward a high school crowd, one without the preppy school uniforms and the nosy chaperones. Travis found a chick with tight cornrows and warm chocolate skin and started up a conversation while Connor found a tall blond about the same age as him, staring at the T. Rex in awe. Connor attempted to do the same. He noticed the guy wore a redskins jersey. “Peter Pan fan, huh?”

“What?”

“Um.” Connor glanced at his brother trying to motion for help. His brother was much too interested in his conversation with the girl, as usual, forgetting the objective at hand like they were running for their lives not trying to flirt with pretty people.

“You!” roared Mommy.

“Hero Burgers!” cheered Femur Biter Jr.

They had given up the pretenses of playing human, or maybe, the Mist worked its magic despite their asses on the line. The mortals probably saw something like a mad Mommy dragging her kid along and Connor was a poor intern trying to escape. Normal stuff. It didn’t help Connor in his situation, his mortal freshener left him to the mercy of the giants.

The giants were bigger than any man. Mommy had to be at least thirteen feet tall. Male giants had arrays of tattoos of Valentine’s Day hearts, kitsch names, and barbed wire. Mommy had Meat Crusher scrawled in loopy cursive across her lower back. Female giants got tramp stamps, what nice bit of trivia. Her son was about half of her height, twice as big and with no tattoos. They both had a single eye, big and black, pinned on him.

Connor froze. Travis rushed to his side.

“I told you to bring our weapons, Chiron always says to be prepared,” Connor shot at his brother.

“Con, I hear you bro, but is this the right time?”

“When would be the right time; while you and I are digesting in their stomach acids?”

They both turned to glare at each other. Travis was right, they probably should not be splitting hairs at this crucial moment; Connor panicked. They hadn’t dealt with monsters in years, they were kept safe by Camp’s barriers and only fought monsters in structured, generally safe settings.

“Found you!” Thing 2 crowed. He jumped in the air.

“Hey kid, you did, but can you skedaddle, we’re kinda in the middle of something,” Travis said, ever the big brother.

“Bianca!” Thing 2 yelled, ignoring Travis. The kid seemed to be realize the tension in the air. He looked from Connor and Travis to the giants. There was a gleam in his eyes, his lips formed an ‘o’ as if he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “You look so cool!” he pronounced, he hopped from one foot to the other. “Cyclops, right! They have 1000 attacks points and And +1 intelligence. Nobody is their ultimate weakness!”

“Uh, kid,” Travis said anxiously.

“They’re stupid, but cool.” The kid really had a motor-boat mouth, he just kept talking seemingly unaware of the trouble he was in. It was Femur Biter who had enough. He grabbed the kid with one huge hand. He roared in the kid’s face, spittle covering the poor kid in stank breath and thick coat of spit.

The kid reddened. Oh no.

“Bianca!” he wailed.

Was it Connor, or was it darker in the exhibit room? The shadows in the room, few as the were, seemed to curl and writhe in the corners. The lights above flickered. The kid continued to cry, struggling mightily in the giant’s hold. Travis moved first. He began to pelt the giants with anything within range - potted plants, his shoes, even the the shiny the little map. It wasn’t much use.

Mommy cackled. “Puny little heroes!” She edged closer to her son. “Go on and eat him, sweetie; heroes are tasty fresh!” she poked the kid on his head.

Oh no, Connor’s stomach twisted and turned. He wanted to move, he did, but...

“Let go of him!”

Connor jolted when he saw her, a cold weight settled in his belly. She was possessed, he thought anxiously. The shadows from the corner rushed toward her. The bones in the exhibit seemed to vibrate with each step she took. “Let go of my brother,” she repeated.

“No!” Femur Biter Jr said with all the intelligence of a three-year-old. Mommy was quieter, she looked at Bianca with fear. Femur Biter Jr opened his mouth, the kid dangled in the air above his mouth for all of mouth. He was dropped, yelling for his life.

Bianca and Travis yelling rushing toward the giants and the T. Rex creaked to life, bulldozing into the Femur Biter Jr. The mortals scrambled in toward the exits. Security rushed to the scene. Connor froze.

The kid popped up from the fallen giant. He scrambled away as fast as his little legs would take him to his sister. Bianca caught him, she ran shaky fingers through his dark hair. She alternated between speaking fast and chiding him. Connor was pretty sure she wasn’t speaking english either. Italian?

“What was that!” Travis blurted. “The T. Rex? The freaky light show? Are you guys half-bloods?”

Those were the wrong words. Bianca protectively pushed her brother behind her. She was speaking again, in Italian, and the T. Rex moved with her words. He might have been a million-years-old reptile with no skin and eyes, but Connor recognized some pretty universal cues like the way the T. Rex swung its tail and poised its skull toward them. And not just the T. Rex. Femur Biter was out for the count, but Mommy was up and she was angry.

“Shit.” Connor cursed. He moved in front of Travis. “Look, I’m sorry for whatever he said that offended you. I really am, but we have bigger issues like one hot Mama!”

Bianca didn’t seem to care, or if she did, she was much focused on the slight. Connor jabbed Travis in the elbow. “Apologize.”

“Ouch, I didn’t say anything wrong,” Travis said stubbornly.

“Dude.”

“Dude.”

Mommy didn’t like to be out of the conversation. She roared politely reminding them she was still there and she still hungered for their blood mixed with a bit of Mama bear protectiveness. Bianca was having none of it today.

She pointed her finger at the T. Rex. Go fetch! Connor imagined she would say if she were like a princess or if they were in a Michael Bay movie with lots of explosions in the background. T. Rex listened. It pounced on Mommy, fighting her with everything it had. As awesome as it was, and trust him, it was pretty spectacular. He almost wished he had that iphone to capture it.

“C’mon while she’s distracted.” Connor and Travis started to run, Connor paused. “C’mon,” he said to Bianca and Nico who watched the fight. “Unless, you guys have some celestial bronze, which is the only thing able to kill those monsters by the way, then we have got to go. It’ll come after us next.”

“We aren’t going anywhere with you,” Bianca insisted. Nico had since calmed down, he peered behind his sister once more making the stink-eye.

“We have gotten to a rocky start,” Connor said. Bianca and Travis snorted at the same time. “But, I don’t have time to explain the level of danger we’re in right now as we’re speaking. I can already see how tired you are.”

Bianca’s face was paler than a ghost. She trembled. It had taken some major mojo to do all that.

“And the giant has your scent. She won’t stop looking for you and there is no guarantee that there'll be any T. Rex’s to save your behinds next time. So, come with us.”

“Where are we going?” Bianca asked.

“Neverland.” Travis deadpanned.

“Really?” Nico said.

“No, ignore him,” Connor directed the conversation back to the main topic. “I think we should go to Camp Half-Blood,” Connor saw how Bianca’s hackles raised and looked like she was ready to kill them again. “It is a summer camp for people like us, half-bloods, the children of the olympian gods and mortals.”

“There is only God and he has only one true son.”

Connor inhaled. “Okay.” he stretched out the word until it filled his entire mouth. He was not going to get into that conversation. The movie at Camp explained things so much better. Wow, Satyrs had a tough job. He ought to send his satyr a fruit basket one day.

“Listen, we can go back and forth about the particulars all day, what really matters its the only place that’s safe for people like us,” Travis interrupted. He was using the big-brother tone where he wasn’t having any arguments. “You can come with us and live, or die here. Choose. Me and Con are leaving now.” And he grabbed Connor’s arm roughly, he felt his fingers press imprints into his skin. He walked them to the elevator.

“Travis, what.”

“Shush.”

It was less than a minute later before Nico came to them. Bianca followed behind at much slower pace, but she was there and Connor because what if they hadn’t followed along. How would they explain to Chiron that they just left a couple of demigods to the mercy of the giants. He shivered to imagine the amount of pegasus shit and dishes they have to clean for that offense.

“You guys have a car?” Bianca asked suspiciously.

Travis hummed as he found an unassuming ride in the lower levels of the parking deck. A beaten up honda from the late 90s. Travis had it up and running in thirty seconds. “Now, we have a car,” Connor said as he slipped into the driver’s seat ignoring Travis’s scowl. He reached to fiddle with the radio. Bianca and Nico were in the back.

“Seatbelts,” Connor reminded.

They were off Camp Half-Blood.

Dead To Me: This one has been renewed for season three. The series is known to end in the year 2021. However, the series finale is a big hit and funny. But, this one did not gain too much attention. Part 2/5 Of my Newsies as Camp Half-blood Headcanon!

@a-fight-we-have-to-win and @morris-delancey-street for the headcanon ideas!

Morris Delancey- Son of Hecate. Morris feels uncomfortable with being Jack's brother, but he learns to accept it and even grows close to Jack and his friends. He's not the best at magic, but his ability to control the Mist is unbelievable. Morris is surprisingly different from Oscar. He's tough because of the lifestyle he was forced to grow up with before finding camp, but he is a bit more approachable compared to his brother. Morris tries to be more open at camp, but he always feels like he's letting Oscar down. He always craved approval from his brother, so he keeps any interaction with others that's even slightly friendly a secret. Because of this, he has a few friends. Secretly, Morris is a book nerd. He loves reading, he feels like he can just run away to a world where everything is alright. He never reads when Oscar is nearby, or anyone really. He mostly sticks to reading on his bunk at night. Because of how he acts in front of different people, Morris sometimes loses a sense of who he really is and it drives him insane. Morris is creative in the ways that he can be so many different people at once and still keep it all in control. He tries to use the Mist to hide most of himself from others, but they are all demigods so he has to put forth a lot of effort.

Spencer "Specs"- Son of Hades. He's unusual social for a child of Hades, but besides this it makes sense. He has a darker side that he reserves for times when the people he cares about are hurt or in danger. Specs is very aware of himself. He feels awkward because he's so sarcastic and he jokes around sometimes, so he struggles with self esteem. He's very optimistic and hopeful though. This distracts him from worrying about how he is around others. He's very patient and considerate of others because he knows what it's like to want to be better than what you already are. He's similar to Romeo since he likes helping others, but he works better with being a listener instead of things like camp tours or showing a new camper the ropes.

Elmer Kasprzak- Son of Demeter. Elmer is unbelievably peaceful, unlike half of his siblings and similar to the other half. He can be intense if he needs to be, but he's more of a peaceful camper. He's helpful, but he prefers his friends and being outside more than anything. Elmer tends to bottle up his emotions because he doesn't know how to truly express himself. He doesn't want to scare off any of his close friends because of his emotions, so he doesn't really open up much. Elmer likes to think what he has is enough, in a sense that he doesn't go looking for danger, so he's not very ambitious with camp competitions or quests. Elmer likes his life at camp and he wouldn't trade it for anything.

Benjamin "Buttons" Davenport- Son of Hephaestus. Buttons has OCD. If he seems something is slightly off, he has to fix it. There are noises that bother him and activities at camp that just make him twitchy. He can't really focus, like all demigods, so he plays with the buttons in his pockets that he carries around in case he needs them, hence the name. Buttons likes to be busy because he can distract himself from memories from his past. He hasn't had the easiest life, but he tries to keep a smile on his face because not a single person at camp has had a good life, not one. Buttons is always a valued player during Capture the Flag because he comes up with the most outrageous plans that somehow work out. He's creative and initiative with using what he has around him to create a plan. He works with Davey during Capture the Flag to make the ultimate plan.

Mush Meyers- Son of Apollo. He's not as bright and sunny as the others, but he's still a character. Came to camp with Davey and Les because they were like his adoptive family. His mom died when he was little and the Jacobs always took care of him. Mush didn't really take on a roll as a brother in the family, but he was always there for both Davey and Les. Mush doesn't really talk with anyone other than the Jacobs and a few others. He's generally quiet and this makes it difficult for him to communicate properly. Mush is never really bothered by much, but when he is he almost completely shuts down. He found that archery is a good outlet for dealing with his inability to properly communicate. 

Jojo de la Guerra- Son of Bellona. He's slightly different from Katherine because he came from a different background. He lived a great life with his dad and step mom, but he lost both of them to a car accident unlike Katherine who just ran away. He's like Katherine in a sense that he prefers camp Half-blood over camp Jupiter. He can often take things for granted because of the life he lived before camp. He sometimes forgets who he is, whether it be who he is at camp or who he was before camp. He likes to tell stories, which is odd to his friends. He's surprisingly good, so he'll lead campfire stories after they sing songs. He can relate to a lot of the younger kids that had good lives until camp. He helps them adjust and comforts them. He's oddly approachable for a child of Bellona, but he's just as smart and battle ready as any other child.

Finch- Son of Athena. Finch is very intelligent, but he doesn't show it often unless he needs to. Finch has been at camp longer than any of the other "Newsies", as the boys like to call themselves. Finch is quiet and he always has a slingshot at his side, which is useful for scaring off the Hermes pranksters and the rest of the jokers in the group. He occasionally joins the gags, but only when it's against someone he has a small vendetta against. He is a very careful kid, although he's very intelligent. He's focused, for a Demigod with ADHD, and he has a very powerful mind. Finch is classified as depressed because he's been at camp so long, but he works hard on trying to be happy as much as possible. His friends support him and give him as much or little space as he needs. His mood swings are unpredictable, but he works with Albert especially to be happy. He wants to be happier, to move past the memories of living at camp since he was little. Finch likes to feel like he's in control of just himself. He knows he can't control everything, so he settles for just himself. He expressed himself through writing, and hardly anyone sees his writing. Finch isn't very trusting of anyone outside his friend circle, which he keeps exclusive.

Mike and Ike- Sons of Hermes. They are worse than Race. They are basically the Stolls, maybe worse. Both worry that they have to be the pranksters and they have to be funny, so they try too hard to be people they aren't truly. Yes, they are mischievous, but they are also very reasonable kids. Both are worried that they'll lose each other over anything. It's happened before and even though they don't show much in front of everyone else, they both worry for each other constantly. They mostly stick to their group of friends and they like it that way. To sum it up, they are a more mischievous duo than the Stolls. Their greatest weakness is their loyalty to each other and those they are about because they are willing to do anything for each other. This is also their greatest strength.

Hotshot- Son of Hades. Hotshot is opposite of Specs and more like how people picture a son of Hades. Hotshot is a very competitive camper, but he's also discreet. He's like a behind the scenes guy. Spot's his best friend, so they work well together. They are a more physical Davey and Buttons during Capture the Flag. He doesn't socialize much at all, but he's extremely intelligent. Basically, Hotshot keeps to himself and he gets by easily. Hotshot is very paranoid because he was with Spot on the quest that took one of their best friends. Both have PTSD, but Hotshot has more paranoia than anything. Hotshot can mostly handle his paranoia and PTSD by himself, it's how he copes, so he works better by himself. He occasionally confides in Spot, but it's rare. While Hotshots past tends to make him falter often, but he mostly has it under control because of his determination of never let the past repeat itself.

Henry- Son of Hebe. Henry tries to drink in his youth and he enjoys life as it is, although he won't just be lazy. Henry is very self reliant. His father owned a Deli and he wants to start his own Deli after his father died. He's always been self reliant and he's very knowledgeable of the Demigod world. He's very creative and also very understanding of all campers, even Oscar. He might not always like them, but since he knows so much about the world they live in, he knows that everyone acts the way they do for a reason. He helps campers like Morris become more comfortable with themselves at camp. Henry is very close to all his friends, but he isn't afraid to give them all a piece of his mind if they do something too stupid or reckless. Despite how he is with friends, Henry feels lonely without his dad. They shared an unbreakable bond and it haunts him to think his dad is gone. His biggest fear is losing those he loves. He only really cooks and bakes because of his dad, but he doesn't mind.
