I did a thing!
Or more accurately, a whole bunch of cool-ass, courageous Jewish organizers did a thing and I helped take photos!
IfNotNow Boston shut down BU Bridge for 2 hours - because that’s what you do when your Senator won’t meet with you!

It was an incredibly powerful action. We sang, heard some moving speeches, blew the shofar, and said the Mourner’s Kaddish for the Israeli civilians killed and Palestinians murdered in the ongoing Nakba.
Btw calling anti-Zionist Jews “fake Jews” is fucking laughable. Like people are going to learn the Mourners Kaddish, cite Torah deep cuts and wear tefillin as an elaborate psy-op.

i seriously cannot believe how compatible they made nancy and robin. like you are telling me in s4 her boyfriend lied to her about their future plans for college because his family comes first always (not a bad thing. just not compatible with nancy’s future). and then her ex boyfriend went on a whole tangent about how his dream was having six kids with her. LIKE???? THEN. enter robin. wants to get out of hawkins, wants to travel the world, is incredibly smart and knowledgeable, is always supportive of nancy and backs her up even when her ideas are a self proclaimed shot in the dark, actively engages with her inquisitive journalistic mind...i don’t know about y’all but in terms of relationship longevity i think robin wins

Boston thoughts
Tumblr media

There's a theory going around (sorry, I tried to find it to link but I came up empty) that I've been thinking about - especially in the context of the way Boston fucks and fucks around - that Top was Boston's first time.
Here we have this prick being all "before when I had sex with someone, my only concern was whether or not I came."
Tumblr media
Imagine having your first time with someone like that, who's just there to get off and really doesn't care if you're enjoying yourself or not but still making such an impression that you're trying for a second (and maybe more). And that first time imprinting on you so strongly that you go around two-pump chumping the dudes you bang. (Pure speculation, we saw like 10 seconds but Boston was being very Top-ish about it.)
Boston has the potential to be a lot more complicated than the trailer and episode one have made him out to be. Give me a nuanced, three-dimensional character who fucks and fucks up a lot thinking he doesn't give a shit about anyone else but himself (and trying to get a repeat of whatever magical dicking Top gave him) and (please give this to me) catching feelings for the sweet dude who's into him and just wants to make him happy.
Anyway, I just think it's interesting.

it’s still on my mind, so i need to discuss it more and like here’s the thing. like i said, i think the idea that the narrative is slut shaming boston is a valid interpretation. if you are viewing this show through the lens of “what lessons are they trying to teach us?” and watch the show and see boston, the slut, in his last frame sad and alone, i can completely understand why you would think “this show is saying that sleeping around and being promiscuous is bad.” i get that! i understand it, i can see how you get to that conclusion.
but it’s like every single argument i see for it is so inherently flawed?? like it’s not even just the person who said that the other couples are heteronormative, it’s everyone that’s claiming boston had no backstory, or that mew was painted as the hero, that he was seen as actually above boston, that nick is also shaming him and saying he doesn’t love boston and boston needs to change for him. and none of those things are backed by the actual text!! they’re all highly skewed interpretations of canon that if you go back and actually look for come out wrong every time!
and the thing that gets me the most is that again, EVERYONE seems to forget that NICK ALSO GOT AN UNHAPPY ENDING! yeah sure, he got the last word and was the one to walk away, but do you seriously watch that last scene and think “yeah nick is so happy and not at all heartbroken over this situation.” and he’s not even MENTIONED in the last scene, unlike boston who is mentioned to be in new york where we can assume he’s happy. like if the narrative is punishing boston, it’s also punishing nick, which i haven’t seen a single person arguing for. because we all know that’s not the case! and i understand the urge to protect boston and being sad about his ending, believe me, but the idea that he’s actively being slutshamed and that the narrative is working against him personally just isn’t backed by the text.

so fun fact: montreal currently has the highest win percentage at 61.54% [24 points earned / 39 possible points]. however, if you look at total possible points through the end of the season [current points + games remaining x 3] Montreal is also tied at first [ w/minnesota] with 57.

Jewish Voice for Peace, IfNotNow, and the Boston Workers Circle teamed up for a beautiful Chanukah for Ceasefire action in Boston on Dec. 16:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We blocked off the intersection in downtown Boston in the heart of the financial district, w the intersection where the Boston Massacre occurred, to demand an end to a far, far worse example of colonial violence. Behind us in most of these pictures is the Old State House.
Holding the intersection through rush hour - there was lots of honking, because Boston - but marshals handed out leaflets to every driver apologizing for inconvenience and explaining the reasons for the action, and if they wanted an end to such disruptions they could call our electeds and ask them to call for a ceasefire.
We heard from multiple faith leaders and publicly called out our supposedly progressive elected officials, lit the Chanukah candles for the final night, offered up prayers and love for Gaza and all Palestine.
I am pleased to report that after months of protests and calls, Senator Warren finally spoke out in favor of a ceasefire.

Climate Activists Disrupt Boston Rush Hour Traffic
On Thursday September 21, more than 35 climate activists from XR Boston shut down traffic around the financial district to demand that the Healey administration ban new fossil fuel infrastructure. Three independently moving groups of XR rebels marched slowly around the intersections of Atlantic Ave and Seaport Blvd., Atlantic Ave. and Summer St., and Purchase St. and Summer St. creating traffic gridlock. The activists communicated that they would refuse to end their traffic disruption unless the Governor made a public statement committing her administration to opposing all new fossil fuel infrastructure projects, including the expansion of airports and gas connections in new buildings.
The activists wore blue shirts with yellow illustrations of the Earth accompanied by slogans "I rebel for..." followed by personalized messages (my kids, a livable future, etc.). They held large banners reading "No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure" and chanted "Governor Healey, you make the rules, time to ban new fossil fuels," "Massachusetts, don't delay, ban new fossil fuels today."
When asked why he chose to participate in non-violent civil disobedience, Monty Neill, an event organizer and one of the arrested climate activists, replied "My grandchildren are facing a world of climate and ecological collapse, with social crises inevitably following. How bad it will be depends on what we do today. An easy first step in Massachusetts is to halt fossil fuel expansion. Leaders must lead, not see what lobbyists say or fear to ‘spend their political capital.’ Governor Healey and the legislature must act now, no more delays."
Jana Pickard-Richardson, another activist with XR Boston, added "I’m risking arrest today out of love and rage. Love for the millions upon millions who stand to lose their homes, and even their lives in this worsening climate crisis. And rage at the politicians who have wasted decades with incremental actions and business as usual. And now as the signs of the crisis unfold around us, our government still is not acting with the urgency the situation demands."
Over 20 activists were arrested after blocking rush hour traffic for almost 30 minutes. In an August meeting with XR Boston, Climate Chief Hoffer admitted Massachusetts won't make its legally binding target to reduce emissions 50% by 2030, per the 2021 Act Creating A Next-Generation Roadmap for MA Climate Policy. She promised that the Healey administration would release a statement shortly. There has been no statement. We are escalating. Our lives depend on it.
