I'm getting the feeling rye is kind of a bad grain if you want a dough with any coherence at all.

You know when you buy a baguette and you have the end pieces? In my house we call that the boat bread because it looks like a little sailboat when you hold it up

Sometimes I think we’re too specific about what we can eat on which type of bread yk? Unless there’s a flavor difference. It’s all bread

Es war unvermeidlich dass dieser Pfosten etwas in mir Wecken würde, das mich veranlasst, mit so viel Wucht in diesen linguistischen Diskurs reinzuSemmeln, dass ich mir eine Schrippenprellung hole.
Ya know the english language is generally fine and all but y'all just don't have decent words for some german essentials
For example I will never not hate the english word for Brötchen
I mean I know if I say either bread roll or bun people are gonna generally understand what I mean but neither of those words actually encompass the full range of german Brötchen
To me this is a bread roll:

And this is a bun:

But both of those words do not feel correct for any of these things:

Those are proper Brötchen and calling them bread roll or bun just feels so wrong

Reblog this post if you (a person who experiences sexual attraction, even if only sometimes or under certain conditions) would be happy to spend the rest of your life in a relationship with someone and never once have sex with them.

tbh it is lowkey difficult to find the motivation to write something you actually put time and effort into when you know that it'll probably be ignored and a half-assed post you typed directly into the tumblr drafts takes off instead for whatever reason

Crust is the most bread part of bread. Anything on the inside is dough, whereas the crust, having been treated far differently before the baking process, is the actual bread. Therefore, the butts of bread loaves are the most bread per squire inch of bread. Fight me

Thing is, the analogy with the cereal holds up even if you do consider toast to be just toasted bread without butter
Because you can say "I ate some cereal" and the milk is implied much like you can say "I ate some toast" and the butter is implied
But you can also say "I ate some cereal and milk" and "I ate some buttered toast" which you can argue about being weird but who tf cares if it floats your boat
AND - IF THE TOAST WERE TO BE PART OF A RECIPE (LIKE FRENCH TOAST OR TOAST HAWAII) IT WOULD NOT IMPLY THE BUTTER MUCH LIKE THE CEREAL (LIKE IN CEREAL COOKIES OR CAKES) WOULDN'T IMPLY MILK, YOU WOULD EXPLICITLY SPECIFY THAT THEY ARE ADDED
Context is important, people

Fascinating.
So this time I did everything right! Made sure that my yeast was in order, the water was warm enough, added more than enough sugar, let it brew and activate before kneading in the rest of the flour, kept the dough bowl warm so the yeast wouldn't die from cold, kept the dough warm and toasty and covered while it rises, gave it plenty of time to rise, and followed every single instruction to a tee!
The bread is still fucked up. It's dead and it sucks.
