The Cat Distribution System 3/5

Summary:
When a stray kitten adopts Lando Norris, the self-proclaimed cat hater accidentally starts a soft-launch spiral with his secret girlfriend the ballerina Ariana Riverria.
Pairing : lando norris x original female character
Genre : Fluff, SMAU
Warning : none, just yeah the kitten will be different in some pictures
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
CHAPTER THREE :
Lando came straight from the airport, suitcase still half-zipped and hair a mess under his hoodie, but none of that mattered the second he walked through Ariana’s apartment door.
Because Charlie came sprinting.
“Hey, little gremlin,” Lando grinned, dropping his bag and scooping the ginger kitten into his arms like he hadn’t just been gone for a week. Charlie immediately nuzzled under his chin, purring like a jet engine.
Ariana stood in the doorway to the living room, arms crossed, eyebrow raised.
“Hi to you too,” she said flatly.
Lando looked up. “Oh, hey, baby.”
“You cuddled the cat before your girlfriend.”
He plopped down onto the couch, Charlie still glued to his chest like a furry magnet. “He missed me. He told me. With his eyes.”
Ariana padded over in her fuzzy socks, climbing beside him with a mock pout. “I missed you too. But sure, let’s prioritize the four-pound fluff ball.”
“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you,” Lando teased, leaning in for a quick kiss—careful not to disturb Charlie’s position, of course.
“Mmmhmm.” Ariana settled beside him, watching Charlie stretch and promptly curl back up in Lando’s lap. “You’ve changed.”
“How so?”
“You used to talk about getting a dog named Charlie. Now look at you.” She gestured at the kitten. “This is your son now.”
“Look, I didn’t choose the cat life,” Lando said dramatically. “The cat life chose me.”
Ariana snorted. “More like you got emotionally blackmailed by toe beans and tiny sneezes.”
“…You weren’t supposed to say that out loud.”
They both looked down at the kitten snoozing peacefully between them.
Right on cue, Aria—Ariana’s majestic white cat—jumped lightly onto the couch, making a beeline for Charlie. With a regal air, she sniffed him, gave him a light headbutt, and proceeded to curl around him like a living blanket.
“She’s adopted him,” Ariana whispered, watching the two cats nestle into one another.
“Guess we’re stuck with two cats now,” Lando murmured, his arm wrapping around her shoulders.
Ariana leaned her head on his shoulder, lips brushing his collarbone. “Honestly? I kind of love it.”
Lando smiled down at the sleeping fur pile. “Yeah. Me too.”
@landonorris
"you think he can come to podiums too? asking for a friend."

@maxfewtrell: is this permanent?? is the kitten a full-time team member now??
@oscarpiastri: i’m concerned and also emotionally invested
@charles_leclerc: does he need a seat for the team briefings?
@f1spygirls: not lando planning his life around a kitten now 😭
@catsoftiktok: we love a proud cat dad
@arianasribbons: i swear to god this is the same kitten that was cuddling ariana's white cat weeks ago
@arianariverria
"house is no longer mine. i live under feline rule."

@pliésballet: WHY ARE THEY ALWAYS TOGETHER NOW
@kitteninfirst: aria has literally adopted him i’m crying
@balletxpitlane: are they dating or are the cats dating?? at this point idk
@pietra: the cat co-parenting is real
@softverstappen: this is how we piece things together and i feel ALIVE
But what really set everything off was a clip from a post-race press conference. It was a short interview, nothing out of the ordinary—until it wasn’t.
The question came from the third row.
JOURNALIST:
"Lando, there’s a lot of talk online about you adopting a kitten. Is it true? Weren’t you famously anti-cat?"
Lando chuckled, clearly caught off-guard, but not rattled.
LANDO:
"Yeah, well... things change. He found me, actually. I didn’t choose the cat life, the cat life chose me. I named him Charlie."
He grinned at the laughter in the room. A few seats down, Carlos raised an eyebrow.
CARLOS:
"You like cats now, huh? Just cats?"
Lando:
"Don’t start, man."
CHARLES:
"That kitten has better PR than some of us."
LANDO:
"He deserves it. He’s cute."
The internet, naturally, exploded.
Twitter Thread by @f1slashballet:
[1] OKAY this press conference is the most accidentally revealing thing I’ve ever seen.
[2] Not Carlos throwing shade with that "just cats" line 😭
[3] Charles literally dragged his whole PR team to the grave in one sentence
[4] AND LANDO DIDN’T DENY A SINGLE THING. He said the cat found him. The cat. AKA Charlie. AKA Ariana’s kitten-in-law
[5] And then there's this frame-by-frame comparison: hoodie match. Couch pillow match. Cat pattern match. Everything matches.
@balletzone: the men are messy and i support them @chaosandchoreo: charlie the kitten is the main character and everyone else is just background @catdadconfirmed: love changed him. and a kitten sealed the deal
@landonorris insta story (deleted)

"Okay maybe i like all cats now."
The story was gone within minutes.
Deleted.
But not fast enough.
Fans immediately recognized the white cat as Aria—Ariana's famously elegant companion. Screenshots spread like wildfire.
Twitter Comments:
@balletxgrid: THAT'S ARIANA'S CAT. AND THE CAT IS NAMED ARIA. I NEED A MOMENT.
@chaoticpolecat: why is he deleting stories now???? BE LOUD
@slowmo_softlaunch: i’m so sorry but they literally adopted a kitten together didn’t they
@f1cryptic: this is the softest rollout i have ever witnessed
@teafortwo: charlie + aria = chariana canon
Back at Ariana’s apartment, the cats were curled up together on the windowsill.
Aria had started grooming Charlie’s ears lately, and Charlie followed her around like a shadow. It was ridiculously wholesome.
And maybe, just maybe, Ariana was finally starting to understand why Lando had fallen so hard, so fast for this little kitten.
Even if she still had to fight for cuddles when Charlie was in the room.
It wasn’t just co-parenting anymore.
It was... something else.

THERE’S ALWAYS ROOM FOR JUST DES(S)ERTS
a Gooey-Wan story
Sitrep.
Cody stares at the tableau in front of him.
Palpatine’s body has gone cold and kind of more shrivel-y, still in that terror-filled, agonized fetal position.
A mouse droid steadily bumps into the corpse as it cleanses up nightmare sludge residue. The usual wails of eternal torment and stalking mimic of the hunted under the whirring of the little droid are almost a comfort.
The galaxy is saved from a madman’s nightmare visions by his own, custom-tailored nightmares in between a lot of impressive lightsaber acrobatics and surprisingly few dismemberments, considering.
“Huh,” Fox says next to him and takes a sip from his “Second Best Commander in the GAR” mug that Cody had helpfully corrected and improved.
“There were,” Obi-Wan pauses, visibly ruminating on his next words, “a surprising amount of tookas involved in the dreams. And those little… do you recall those little fluffy critters we encountered on Therenx VI?”
“Huh,” Cody echoes. He does remember the small bear-like animals. Mainly because they tended to shoot lightning out of their fuzzy little bellies unprovoked. Perma-banning them from the Negotiator after singed eyebrows and electrocuted equipment had involved a lot of tears and attempts at mutiny secretly sponsored by Cody’s General.
“So,” Fox drawls out, “that’s it?”
General Windu frowns. “With the reveal, there are certainly more issues to be resolved. But for the moment? Yes, it seems so.”
“‘Kay. I’m going on vacation. Toodles.” And with that Cody watches Fox go away with a careless gesture.
Cody waves after him before he realizes what he’s doing. He shakes his head and turns back. “You okay?”
The pulsing, thick smoke is slowly absorbed back into the heavy cloak. Obi-Wan is flickering once in a while, the sclera of his eyes a black hole for the stars in his pupils. He drags a hand through his hair but the stubborn strands just fall back across his forehead. “That was quite the outing,” he says cheerfully. “Never did like Taungsdays very much.”
Cody raises his eyebrows, still waiting for an answer. He doesn’t do anything to suppress or hide the smile tugging insistently on his lips.
“Frankly, I could do with a cup,” Obi-Wan admits and cracks his back with a satisfied groan that does it for Cody very much. “I do feel a bit matte.” He tilts his head back a bit, strange, beautiful eyes seeming to stare into the galaxy’s matter itself. The black tongue laps at his lips, quick and away. “And very full. The Chancellor’s dreams provided indeed.”
The sing-song voice is back and Cody shivers despite himself. It’s…unnerving. The one thing that makes the hair rise on Cody’s arms. That tells his hindbrain that there’s nowhere he can hide, nowhere he can crawl into, nowhere to turn to, because what is looking for him can find him in ways beyond his control.
Obi-Wan shakes his head, black bleeding out of his eyes, and leans forward on his knees with another long groan. “I want a nap.”
General Windu shakes his head with a fond look, and leads him away from the body with a steady hand sinking into a smoky shoulder. “Master Mundi is bringing some trusted Senators here.”
“Very well,” Obi-Wan nods and looks at Cody. “Commander,” he starts and Cody straightens instinctively as he receives the last orders from his General.
.
“Force, this is exactly what I needed,” Cody hears around the entry to the small kitchen. He takes his mug back to the living quarters and drowns in the sofa cushions next to Obi-Wan.
Nightmare sludge is happily sopping into the bowl placed under black clawed hands.
“Feel better?” Cody asks, sipping from freshly brewed caf made from real beans. The luxury feels endless. Smoke gently curls in between his fingers, dancing and playing around when he wiggles his hand.
With a mischievous smile Obi-Wan turns his head to him, burrows into his side. “Hmhm, that shower was rejuvenating.”
Cody has to agree. Feeling the grime and battle and literal nightmares washing off his skin, Obi-Wan’s skin, under hot water and hotter breath, the calming smell of the soap steaming against the tiles - it feels like a happy ending like in the holo movies.
“How are you?” Obi-Wan asks, shaking nightmares off one hand into the bowl.
“You know,” Cody tips his head against ginger hair and closes his eyes, “I feel really good.”

Pity Party
Chapter 18 of Professional//Victim - Masterlist
Tommy celebrates his 30th birthday, five years after his capture. But it's his party, and he can cry if he wants to.
Content warnings in the tags.
_____________________________________________________________
At the top of the stairs Tommy stopped, frozen, the blood draining from his face. His chest had seized, and he only remembered to breathe again when Caius gave him a thump on the back.
He was forcibly turned by his shoulders back to face Caius, starting to hyperventilate while anxiety paralyzed him.
“Look at me. Hey, look at me.”
Tommy wheezed, barely able to drag his eyes from the scene. The best he could manage was a fuzzy, unfocused stare towards Caius’s mouth. No eyes, just the mouth, just the mouth that told him what to do.
“You don’t have to think about it. Stop making things harder for yourself all of the time. I will guide you, focus on that lifeline. You’re going to sit at the table, and you will be courteous, and gracious, and you’ll get the fuck over yourself for once and enjoy it. Play along. Show me you can do that.”
Tommy was seized with a violent coughing fit, doubling over. His eyes watered and he struggled to breathe, gagging on the air he did manage to get in.
“Jesus christ Tommy, this is not what is going to do you in. You have gone through the fire too many times to be getting this choked up over some cake. You’re too old for this shit.”
Even Caius winced a little at the last line, realizing a moment too late the poignancy of drawing attention to his age.
Something about it struck Tommy as funny. He couldn’t say what, but it stopped his panic attack in its tracks suddenly, like flicking a switch. He felt slightly dazed, surprised by his own sudden drop. A long, silent moment passed between them before Caius’s hand returned to his shoulder.
“Thatta’ boy. Come on, come.” He guided Tommy to the table, but he handled him with a light touch. Tommy was feeling quite delicate himself, like porcelain worn thin from years of use. Whatever stopcork was blocking his meltdown, he felt like it could slip at any moment.
His total guests consisted of Caius, Rory, and Sam. Tommy sat at the head of the table, feeling distinctly small. He felt a little heady, suddenly exhausted from the rush of emotions. He idly felt the top of his head, half expecting a birthday hat to be perched on top. If anything, he had expected streamers, balloons, some mockery of a little kid’s birthday party – Courtesy of the nearest dollar store, for sure.
Instead, it was…actually kind of nice. They usually left the table bare for use, but the wood was dressed in a clean, cream colored tablecloth. He rubbed the edge of it absently, feeling the material thick and silky in his dry hands. The table was set with paper plates and plastic cutlery, of course, but cloth napkins were rolled and tied with ocean blue ribbons, folding in a few sprigs each of dried lavender for decor. Plastic champagne flutes at each place were filled with a light golden bubbly. The cake in the center was of a smooth, light purple frosting, freckled with real vanilla bean. The top was decorated with a few more sprigs of lavender, sweet and simple.
“Michelle couldn’t make it, so he made your breakfast. We have a few things for you today, though.” Caius told him with a serene smile.
Sam smiled a mean smile, and slid him a card.
“Yeah, Tommy, just a chill day with the boys,” he agreed.
Tommy looked to Caius, who nodded meaningfully.
Play your part.
Tommy closed his eyes and took a deep breath, attempting to reset the scene in his head before opening the envelope. Inside was an oddly shaped card featuring Dora the Explorer.
YOU’RE 3o! She exclaimed in the speech bubble. Or rather, she said, YOU’RE 3! But Sam had sharpied in a quick 0 after the three.
It actually made Tommy chuckle, even though he felt like cracking a smile might crack him in half. It was so perfectly stupid, and honestly much closer to the party he had been expecting. Open humiliation and cruelty was far more familiar territory than when Caius pretended to be nice.
He opened it, and a five dollar bill fell out. Inside, the original message printed in the card was scribbled out, and a brief handwritten note was penned in.
Towards your retirement.
He assumed the abstract swirl afterwards somehow spelled out Sam’s name. He chuckled in spite of himself.
“Wow Sam, uh, your terrible handwriting is the first proof I’ve seen that you’re a real doctor.”
Caius and Rory laughed, sharing a brief look of surprise. Sam made a sour face, but when Caius gave him a playful push to his shoulder, he broke into a tense grin.
Tommy took a sip of his champagne, hoping it wasn’t obvious his hand was shaking. It was shockingly sweet, reminding him of some off-brand Halloween candy from his youth.
“Open Rory’s next,” Caius encouraged, reaching over to push the only other envelope slightly closer to him.
Tommy tore it open, fumbling it slightly before he pulled the card free.
The front of the card featured a picture of an elderly woman standing in a cucumber patch. She was smiling proudly, holding aloft a massive cucumber that had grown into a conspicuously phallic shape.
Underneath, a text box said, “Hoping your BIGGEST wish comes your way this year!”
“Oh my god, he’s blushing!” Rory laughed, and Tommy covered his mouth with his hand nervously. He flicked the card open with his thumb.
Don’t take shit so seriously
Never turn down a joint
Hit the gym
Work hard, play hard
Keto will give you the runs
The list was penned in by hand. Rory leaned over, stealing a peek inside, and groaned.
“Shit. I forgot I wrote that. Caius was saying something about - imparting wisdom for turning thirty. I guess most of that doesn’t really, uh…apply here, exactly. Seriously though, fuck keto. Never again.”
A friend has given you a funny card. He’s…a loveable scamp. Probably a fan favorite. Tommy’s Life is filmed before a live studio audience. Queue the tinned laughter.
Oh, that ol’ Rory!
Tommy chuckled, smiled.
“It’s great, thank you.”
He set it aside and sipped his champagne. He felt warm. He didn’t think he was throwing it back that hard, but it was drained before he realized.
Tommy pulled it away and looked at it in surprise. He supposed it was a pretty small flute. He realized he’d never actually drank champagne out of a champagne glass, just out of the bottle, passed around the circle with the band after their EP release show.
God, he hadn’t thought about that in ages. It hit him with such a strong nostalgia,a longing for just sitting on the couch with the missing leg in Greg’s apartment. G’s cat had shredded the shit out of the whole side of it, and it was worn down to a soft fuzz.
They had this great recording of Greg yelling at Mr. Meow Meow for clawing at it again, right at the end of the song, and Jazz totally losing it in a fit of giggles. They’d left it in, all of it, letting it finish out their five song EP. Fuck, which song was that?
“I’ll get you a refill, bud.”
Sam interrupted his little flashback by snatching the plastic flute out of his hand. Tommy realized he had tears in his eyes, and wiped at them with his sleeve self consciously.
Just allergies. The show goes on.
“Thanks,” he mumbled. Caius gave him an approving thumbs up. Tommy smiled weakly back and cleared the thickness from his throat.
Sam put on some music while he was up, and something emo started playing.
“What kind of music would you like to listen to, Tommy?” Caius interjected pointedly. Sam scowled at him.
He was tempted to say it doesn’t matter, but he had limited access to music. Caius gave him an odd assortment of tapes and records, even some CD’s, but he knew the most recent one was from 2010.
It’s my birthday, and I’ve got the aux.
“I used to - I like Bad Guys Win. Have they put out anything since Strander?”
Sam groaned, but Caius promised they would check. He gave Sam a meaningful look, and he dutifully changed the track.
It was a little distracting, because Tommy really wanted to listen to it in silence, but he managed. They chatted idly and drank champagne. They stuck to safe topics - things that didn’t involve work talk.
Tommy’s favorite was when they told him about horror movies he hadn’t seen. Sam described the entire movie The Human Centipede, much to Tommy’s grossed-out delight and Caius’s grossed-out chagrin.
Rory insisted on cutting the cake, cursing as he attempted to saw through it with a plastic butter knife. He rustled through some drawers in the kitchen before proudly holding a trowel-like utensil aloft.
“We are using a cake server proper. These bitches work pretty good for pizza, too,” he announced to his audience, before using it to deliver an enormous slice of the cake onto Tommy’s plate. Tommy stared at it wide-eyed, the mountain of fine pastry set before him. He didn’t usually even get lunch, and breakfast had already been too good to be true. He knew the sugar might make him sick at this point, but he had zero qualms about the stomachache being worth it.
He needed something in his stomach, anyway. He was nursing his third glass of champagne, and while he didn’t think the alcohol content could be very high, he was already feeling it. His face felt very warm and flushed, and he felt like his heart was pounding, even though he was about as safe as he could be here.
Current threat levels: low.
The cake was sweet, but well balanced, the herbal taste of the lavender sweetened with a bright vanilla mascarpone that melted in his mouth. It’s not something he probably would have picked on his own, but it was delicious. The other guys appreciated it too, and Caius recommended the pastry shop he’d gotten it from. Tommy forgot it as soon as he heard it - it wasn’t like he’d be visiting.
Sam moved to top off Tommy’s glass, but he raised a hand to pause him.
“I think I’ll just have some water, please.”
“I’m not going to let you be a lightweight for your birthday,” Sam teased easily, and whisked away his cup in spite of his protests.
Tommy sucked the frosting from his spoon, lifting a hand absentmindedly to his forehead. He did feel warm. Just his luck to get sick on his birthday. No, it must be the alcohol and the sugar, it made him jittery.
Caius noticed he hadn’t finished his piece of cake.
“You don’t like it?”
“No, no it’s very good. I think I might just, uh, be getting a little bit of a sugar rush here.” He gave Caius a sheepish smile.
His lips felt oddly numb, and he had a sudden feeling of dizziness.
“Honestly? Worth the diabetes, or whatever,” Rory piped in.
Sam poured shots of whiskey for them all. Tommy stared at the russet potion, and nausea ate at his stomach just from the smell. He pushed it away from himself without thinking, turning his nose.
God, has whiskey always smelled this bad? What the hell is this stuff?
“Oh come on Tommy, it’s good stuff. Try it,” Sam encouraged, tipping his own back in one oversized shot.
Actually, he was very nauseous, and the room suddenly seemed so bright, he had to squint.
“I have the last couple of preparations to do. You boys behave!” Caius told them, givinf a wave as he left for the stairs.
“Wait,” Tommy whispered, but Caius was gone. His stomach clenched with anxiety.
Don’t leave me alone with Sam.
Sam leaned over at the table, leering at him.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling well?”
“‘M drunk,” Tommy tried weakly. “I just need to lay down, I think, could you-”
“You’re not thinking very clearly. You just need a little hair from the dog who bit ya.” Sam slid his whiskey closer to him. He positively oozed smugness, and Tommy had a strong sense that he was playing into a cruel joke he hadn’t picked up on yet.
The room felt hot. He pulled his shirt out from his chest and realized he was sweating. The temperature had felt fine before, but somehow it now felt sweltering.
“Jee Tommy, you don’t look so good. Too much freedom for you, buddy?”
“Was the cake an edible or something?” Tommy managed.
“Like I'd waste good weed on you. You’re just being a spazz.”
Tommy squinted against a particularly bright spot in his vision, off of the-
The cake server.
The cake server was metal.
Blunt, and thin, but it was real metal.
“Knock it off.”
They both turned when Rory spoke. His hand was clenched around his whiskey, glowering at Sam, who spat back.
“Take a joke man. Have a seat until your number is called.”
“Let Tommy have his day, man. Caius put this together, you don’t want to piss him off.”
Sam laughed harshly, turning fully towards Rory. Tommy was grateful for the respite from his attention, but he didn’t want to be caught in the middle of them any more. Sam was not deterred.
“Hey Rory, we’re sharing stories. Tell me that one again, about how you got kicked out of Yale. How much did that one cost your daddy?”
“A lot less than medical school and a string of malpractice lawsuits, I’ll tell you that. You would know all about that though, Doctor – I’m sorry, Mister Snow.”
Uh oh. Honestly, it was amazing they’d gotten along for a few hours. Usually, they just skipped right to the dick measuring contest.
Where the fuck was Caius?
“I’m gonna go see if Caius needs help,” Tommy mumbled, trying not to interrupt too much, but knowing an attempt at a silent exit would only stir them up. He started to stand, pushing himself up from his hands on the table to rise.
He just wasn’t fast enough.
Hed barely started to turn away before Sam’s hand grabbed his wrist and yanked, pulling him closer instead, and knocking over Tommy’s untouched whiskey in the process.
“Tommy, you’re my patient, you know I’m a good doctor. If I wasn’t, you’d be one hell of a Freddy Krueger looking motherfucker, wouldn’t you?”
The spilled plastic cup rolled in a semicircle, a pool of pungent whiskey soaking into that soft cream tablecloth. There was something wrong, though, a streak of color clouding the liquid.
“-Tommy?”
His heart was pounding in his ears. His head throbbed along with it. He picked up the goblet with the hand that wasn’t being crushed in Sam’s fist, and held it up to the light.
There. Just a little, in the bottom. A pink, chalky residue - all that was left undissolved of whatever Sam had slipped into his drink.
Thud thud thud thud thud - his heart was beating so loud and so fast, his chest ached.
Rory seemed to put it together at the same time.
“What the fuck-”
Sam wrenched Tommy over, his body pressing against his, too close, too hot.
“Look at the fucking mess you’re making!” he hissed, his voice dangerously close.
“WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU GIVE ME?!” Tommy shouted into his face, helpless tears spilling over.
“Your birthday gift.”
Fuck, he was cracking, all the grief and anger he’d held back erupting all at once.
Tommy shoved at his chest, ripping free just to make it two steps before Sam dragged him back by the arm, and then by a hand in his hair, and the room tilted crazily around him. Tommy’s head exploded in pain as he was slammed against the table’s surface, the cloth runner little comfort as his face was ground into the whiskey soaked linen.
“It’s okay Tommy, I’ll just fix it! Like I always fucking do. You know what would fix you, Tommy? A fucking lobotomy. I think I’ll schedule the operation with your owner today, yeah!” Sam’s voice was slightly slurred. One thing he had in common with Rory – he was a mean drunk.
The impact had dazed Tommy a moment too long, and his resistance was weak when Sam flipped him, bending him backwards over the table and pinning him by his hands around his throat.
Rory was shouting something, but Tommy couldn’t make sense of it. The light above him was blinding, he couldn’t breathe – he thought his head would burst from the pressure of Sam’s hands digging in under his jaw. He clawed at his wrists uselessly while Rory backed away from the table.
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING MAN? HE WASN’T EVEN DOING ANYTHING YOU PSYCHOPATHIC–”
Tommy could hear him, faintly, barking and barking, but he was only moving further away from them.
HELP ME, HELP ME-
With unbreakable will, Tommy released his grip on Sam’s wrist and raised a hand above his head, feeling blindly along the table. Nothing, nothing - and then his hand sank into the gooey remains of his cake, ruined now under his fingers.
“I’m gonna put a hole, right here–” Sam jabbed at the inner corner of his eye, forcing it closed as he twisted his finger hard against his sinus, miming screwing something into him.
Tommy’s fist closed around the handle of the cake server.
“-And I’m gonna carve the thirty-year-old loser right out of your body.”
Tommy drove it into the top of Sam’s hand curled around his throat.
Sam shrieked, dropping him immediately, but Tommy stabbed it again into his chest. Sam stumbled back, but Tommy was a live wire now, righting himself before the rush of blood back to his brain could even catch up with him. He swung his weapon down at Sam’s chest again, another hit narrowly missing with a wild slash as the good doctor retreated.
Rory finally lept into action, hooking his arm around Tommy’s at the end of his arcing strike, halting his attack. Sam was back on him in a second, pinning him back over the table with his arm barred across Tommy’s throat. Tommy gnashed his teeth, trying to struggle out from under Sam, as Rory tore at his frosting-covered grip on the cake server.
“WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE?!”
At the sound of Caius’s voice, Tommy’s resistance abandoned him. He went limp under Sam, and Rory pried the cake server from his fingers. Sam let him up and he took an agonizing breath in, falling to the floor when the other man stepped back. He curled into a ball on the ground, screaming uncontrollable sobs into his hands.
The other three shared a moment of stunned silence. Caius threw his hands up in bewilderment.
“Didn’t I tell you all to behave?!”

As a person who gets tired a lot, a/b/o naptime mayhaps? - 🧊
Haha, yes. I understand being tired. So this is for you, for me, and for every Reader who feels tired and just wants to snuggle up under a warm pile of blankets and hibernate-
(Slight warning: This has implied/mentioned platonic breastfeeding, because, you know, A/B/O stuff... And Reader being a sleepy bean. You have been warned...)
You whined softly, popping your back and entering the Institute. You had to go out for a last minute mission, and you were really, really, really fr*cking tired. Honestly, you weren't even sure why anyone would want to cause chaos at... you glance at a nearby clock... 2:33 A.M. in the morning... but at this point, they're your new enemy. Who you will have strong, strong words with. But not right now. Right now you need to clean up, eat something, and go to bed.
You hear a few of the others groan or shuffle to different parts of the mansion, but you pay them no mind. At this point, you're hardly awake, stumbling around like you're drunk, and trying not to faceplant into any doors. You. You are not a morning person. Or a late night person. Or a being-awake-for-hours-on-end person. Seriously, why couldn't the Brotherhood be up to something at a reasonable hour? Or at a reasonable place? Or just be reasonable, period? Uuuuuurrrhhhhhhhggggggg...
You eventually stumble into a bathroom, taking mind to not trip over the toilet or your clothes as you take them off, then carefully turn the knobs on, letting the tub fill with warm water. The moment you sink in, you release a deep sigh. You could almost fall asleep...
Except someone then knocks loudly, too loudly, at the bathroom door, amd you hold back an irritated groan. "What is it?" You yell-sigh, a soft growl in your throat. You hear shuffling, then the person seems to leave. You sigh, a little worried you sounded too annoyed... But then the water gets colder, and you hurry out of the tub, not wanting to get sick on top of being too tired to think straight. Except... you forgot to grab clean clothes. And you're not getting back into your uniform. Hm... you huff lightly, wrapping the towel tighter around you, and quickly scurry back to your room. You seemed to have avoided everyone...
Until you find clothes already laid out for you in your room, and your roommate, who is quick to blush and look away. You cover your own eyes for a second, then realize what you just did. With a tired mumble and a few more tired sighs, you slip your pajamas on, enjoying the scent and feel of clean, soft clothes on your sore and cold body. You utter a quick apology, then flop onto your bed. You need to eat... but you're too tired to go anywhere else. You ignore anymore noises you hear, slowly drifting into an exhausted, tired slumber...
When you wake up, you smell something really... sweet. It's dark, and the blankets around you are warm and inviting. You hear a few mewls and murmurs, followed by soft shushing and soft sounds, like kittens trying to move around and feed... Is this a dream...? You let out a soft, questioning noise, only to be met by a warm hand in your hair and a few bodies pressed closer to yours, each warm and soft and sleepy. A tail wraps around your leg, while different arms wrap around your torso and limbs... Something shushes you when you make another questioning noise, then rests your head against it... It's warm, so warm, like a cozy fireplace or sunshine during winter. You feel your head guided to something soft, the sweet scent growing stronger-
And then something enters your mouth, and you taste a droplet of milky-sweet liquid. You hum, confused, but it shushes you again and rubs your back, forcing you into relaxing... Your head feels cloudy, fuzzy, all soft and fluffy and so, so tired... As you drift off, you hear someone murmur, "Good night," then a kiss is pressed to your forehead... And soon your back under, purring contently amd letting yourself be dragged under by the love-filled scents and embraces around you....

Would it be all right to write about Adrastus entrancing a new student to the study group? Asking for a friend, who is me
@oliversrarebooks

WOHEO Masterlist This one’s a long one! Very excited about it :3
cw: lady whumpee, hypnosis, brainwashing, vampire whumper, kidnapping
———————————————————————
Beatrice swallowed, carefully absorbing the sight lied out in front of her.
She had finally caved, finally told Mary she would accept the excessive, repeated invite of hers. Even after taking eerie notice of the effects this group seemed to have on students, she bad still given a yes. Strangely, no one was seemingly as skeptical as her.
It was odd how her friend’s eyes glazed over with an unfocused touch just talking about the event, a dazed grin spreading over her lips. We’re always open to newbies, she had said, practically drooling imagining this so-called study group, only causing more of a stir of wariness inside of Beatrice’ belly.
Though, at the same time, Beatrice had agreed to go. Even with aching suspicion tugging at her mind, the need to study urged her to take the slightest of a brave chance, just to see what this was all about. Maybe to find if her caution was warranted. Dearly, she hoped it wasn’t it.
At the very least, Bea could not say it wasn’t cozy.
Blankets, pillows, bean bags, and stuffed toys littered the carpet, now light pink and fuzzy after the infamous librarian had arranged for the old stuff to be replaced. The smell of lavender sifted through the tight air, filling her nose and unknowingly calming her pounding heart.
Students filed in behind her, frames drooping and movement gradually slowing almost as soon as they entered. Beatrice shivered with uncertain unease. It was all too much not to raise concern.
“We meet right over there.” Mary told her, placing a hand to her shoulder. That same, chilling smile was already plastered back across her face, churning about Bea’s belly. “But I’ll take you to meet sir, first.”
Sir? Mary hadn’t called them that before.
“It’s alright-,” she didn’t like how almost the whole room shifted her head, and how it flipped her stomach in knots. Beatrice was already prepared to leave, and quickly.
“Why, hello there! Is this our newest recruit?” Someone called, pulling the pair’s attention.
The librarian, with their luxurious outfit- far too fancy for a school setting, that was for sure- sauntered up, sweet yet sly. They must have taken swift notice of Beatrice’ heed. “I’m just kidding, dear. What might your name be, darling?”
They pressed a gentle finger to her forearm, a touch that scattered her thoughts with fog in a quick instant. “Oh, I was just, um… um… leaving.” Was she really leaving? Her thoughts were scrambled inside of her head, hard to reach while she was so focused on the ginger rub of fingers over her skin.
“Her name… ‘s Beatrice, sir…” Mary whispered, keened toward their immense aura that seemingly swirled the two right in.
“Beatrice? What a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Mind if I call you Bea?” Her stomach tensed. No one called her that except close friends. Too distracted by the flutter of a compliment and the brush of a thumb over her skin, words to reply drifted far out of reach. Luckily, the librarian did not waste time waiting for a response. “Wonderful! I have a hunch you may already know, but my name is Adrastus. You, my dear, may call me sir.”
“H- huh…?” Such a title seemed much too formal. Although, it seemed everyone was calling them that… it couldn’t be that weird. Could it?
Adrastus didn’t allow her a moment to dwell. “Come along, darling, let me introduce you to the group!” Pulling her along with their slender, smooth arms, she stumbled behind their graceful stride to where the numerous other students had gathered.
Bea swayed in her spot as they stopped, unable to keep herself afloat and dizzy as the room spun below her. Was she sick? She just knew she should have left.
“Hello, my loves!” The librarian- no, sir- sung aloud, catching the attention of the already hazy group. “This is our newest guest, Bea. Say, hello Bea!”
The group repeated their greeting in a neat fashion, although voices dropped lazy and slow. Most students were already tucking in for sleep as it seemed, sprawled over blankets and one another. Unusual for what was advertised as a meet up meant for studying.
Adrastus guided her slowly drooping frame to an open seat made from a pile of lush pillowing, one she plopped right into. Bea sighed in contentment as she allowed the fabric to swallow her whole.
Soon enough multiple other drowsy minded students rolled over her limbs, trapping her in place with discomfort. She then groaned in displeasure.
Leaning down and whispering, Adrastus set a string of her hair back into place. “How are you doing, love? Comfortable?”
She wriggled around the others, bodies confining her and skin touching that of strangers. “I, um… I’m not… sure…” Beatrice muttered, anxiety crawling it’s way around her insides.
“That’s okay, that’s okay. Just relax for me.” They stroked over her supple skin, pushing her further back and gumming up her head.
“But… when ‘re we gonna study…?”
“In a bit, baby, soon here now. Just take a deep breath and close your eyes.”
Although weakly, Beatrice resisted as they tried to shut her eyes for her. “Don’t… like… leave…”
“You are a bit anxious, aren’t you?”
Their words spun her in circles, her cobweb filled brains unable to keep up with their swift speech. “I guess… um…”
“How adorable. That’s just fine. I can work with that.” Adrastus muttered, more so to themself than her.
“‘M… con… fused…”
“Sure you are. But everything is just fine, okay? Just get all nice and sleepy, letting it wash over you all nicely.”
“Wash… over…?” The wave of their nimble fingers down her frame was freakishly heavenly, a sensation so beautiful she’d never before felt. Beatrice fell limp almost instantly, so overwhelmed by the magic of the whole situation.
“Yes, dear. Let it take hold of your little body, sending you numb and reeling into slumber. Sir will take good care of you while you sleep.”
“Don’t… can’t…”
“Oh, yes you can,” They corrected. “Good girls like you need sleep. I just know you’re so tired, your whole body is reaching for slumber.”
“Sleep… good…”
“Yes, dear. Sleep.”
Beatrice had no clue how long she was out, dancing through dreams and listening to the sweet voice of the librarian at the flick of their wrist. She merely gave up her will for however long proved fit, leaving her mind well devoid of thought.
It was… fine. Once she finally awoke Bea had dutifully said her goodbyes to her sir, stumbling out from the building as drowsy and hazy as everyone else. Sure, she barely retained a moment of the night, but with her head still buzzing with slumber she must have just fallen asleep.
How silly of her to have been so afraid. Nothing was off in the slightest.
…
Beatrice promised herself that this time, she would study. She would not fall to her body’s need for slumber, and would in turn remember the night in full. Very much unlike the first visit to the library.
She had neatly arranged her things in the midst of sprawled out, snoring students, burning with roaring determination. Even if, oddly, no one else seemed to be doing much studying, Beatrice was going to make the most out of the chance to do so.
But, in a strange turn of events,
Beatrice was crying.
Her cheeks flushed vibrant red with embarrassment, eagerly wiping tears away with her wrists.
She had no clue as to what had come over her. Why the work was so painfully difficult, why her head was clouding and gradually slowing, leaving her mind muddled in confusion. Why students flopped around her, touching all over absentmindedly. Why all she wanted to do was sleep.
A hand snuck down her neck, brushing it’s way over her shivering spine. She twitched in surprise before melting under the contact. “Oh dear, what’s wrong?”
“Don’t, um, don’t…” Beatrice turned to face the glimmering face of the librarian, eyes blurring with moisture. “So confused!”
“Oh, baby. Tell me what’s bothering you.” They pouted, curling up beside her with concern. Beatrice yearned for their aid, for their pity, and her heart fluttered at the notion of her sir paying her specific attention.
“Don’t, um, so confused… uncomfy…!” Furling into a ball she exclaimed, expression twisting and muscles tightening.
“Well we don’t want that, do we?”
“Nooo…” Bea whined, wracking her brain for words that were becoming difficult to reach. “Work, uh, hard… ‘m head hurt…”
“Of course, dear. Your little mind is too distracted by the difficulties of school!” All the while they spoke arms slithered around the distraught woman, hoisting her into their lap and swaddling her sweet. Almost in likeness to a parent and their beloved child. Beatrice instinctively accepted the warmth of their hold. “You must relax, love.”
“But… gotta study…” she reached lazily for her work, arms far too restricted by the librarian’s hold to complete the act. Though, she didn’t really mind, the embrace growing warm and splendidly comfortable.
Maybe…
Maybe she could relax…
Just for a moment. The wash of calm that gently rolled over her was to great to ignore, just enough of a push to force her into acceptance.
“Goodness, you are determined, aren’t you? Even while all confused and sad. How cute.” They brushed her face with their sleeve, tickling her with pleasure and wiping her tear stained cheeks. “Come on over, my loves. Gather around, let’s help our dear Bea, here.” Their voice raised, calling out to the other dazed out students.
Soon enough strangers were crawling their way over, slow and sleepy, eyes all unfocused and glassy. They collapsed in a heap around the two, all smiles and content.
“Don’t, um, I don’t… like it…” Beatrice mumbled, twisting closer to the chest of the librarian and away from the others. Still, she couldn’t ignore the turmoil of seein
Pressing a peck to her forehead, their hands rubbed tender circles over her flesh as they whispered. “Yes you do. It feels so very delightful to be surrounded by your fellow classmates, heads empty and smiles wide.”
“Oh… delightful…” she mewled, eyes glazing over like all the others.
“You want to come back. To take the time to dance around in this bliss with all of your little companions, and to see your sir.”
“Want… come back… sir…”
“Good girl. So good. Now take this time to calm, and get some well needed sleep.”
“Calm… sleep…” She could do that for her sir. So very deeply she wanted to obey, and obey Beatrice would.
Settling her back into the heap of sleeping students, Adrastus hummed a quiet whisper. “Sweet dreams, baby. Sir will be right by your side for as long as you need.”
…
Every night that Bea returned to see her sir proved so much better than the last. The first few were so very magical and mind melting, the thoughts of floating through such pleasant clouds her sir planted through her mind were all she could think about during the day. Beatrice was obsessed.
Because they were her sir. She was their favorite, and everyone knew it, Bea was sure.
She was always picked first for blood draws, always welcomed with more soft touches and kind coos than everyone else, even getting the longest of her own private study sessions with her sir.
Bea was sure she was the favorite, and favorites cannot stop coming back for more. Even if her grades were dropping and her mind was gradually coming to a halt, the thought of distancing herself from the magnificent librarian never dared to enter her mind.
Just like now. Slumped against her sir’s leg, drooling over their calf from the corner of a strung up, dopey smile. Sir’s fingers twirled nimbly through her hair, gentle and kind, just like them. She shivered with blissful sensations.
“Alright, dear,” they started, breaking through the silence of the library, words hushed and light, fingers receding from her locks. “It's sleepy time, okay?”
Lazily Bea clawed for their touch to return, puppy eyes twisting with puzzled hurt. “B- but… like looking at sir…”
“I know, I know, but I need to get up for just a moment.” They climbed to their feet, beginning their journey away from Beatrice, an action that did not sit well with her. She did not want her master to leave, detested it. Especially if the reason was to go dote on anyone else that wasn’t her.
“But… but…”
Adrastus patted her head lightly, bouncing the worries from her brain with a swish of bliss. “I’ll be right back, I know you are quick to miss me. Do not worry your pretty little head.” They gave her that gentle, soft smile they always did, that fluttered the endeared butterflies in her tummy.
Bea melted into that of a puddle of smiling sludge, too distracted by her sir’s spell to think much at all. “Okay… sir…”
“Good girl.” They nodded, heels clacking off as they ventured to who knows where, Bea’s cheek making its soft descent into the carpet.
Soon enough her sir returned to Bea’s delight, only, her satisfaction contorted in distress as she took notice of the dazed out student trailing behind them, hand in hand. His head craned to the side, ready to donate blood.
“Sir! Nooo!” She squealed on instinct, crawling desperately to claw at their ankles in the attempt to cease their betrayal. How could they do that to her? She was right there, so ready to donate or do anything her sir so wished, and they chose someone else?
Adrastus tisked, face firming. “Shhhh, hush, dear. So loud for someone supposedly asleep.” They cupped her cheek, so delicate it almost distracted her from the pain of their treacherous actions.
“Why… ‘re, why’re you taking him…?” She whispered, anger twisting to pitiful hurt, as she leaned right into the touch of their soft skin.
They booped her nose. “That’s none of your concern, baby.”
“But you love me! Me! Take… me!” They had to! She wanted so badly to be of use to them, to be loved by them more than anyone else. They had to see that, didn’t they?
“Calm down. Sleep, now.” They commanded, stroking down her skull in a wash of drowsiness, so immense she could never have resisted, no matter how much distress she was in.
She whined, loud enough to stir a few others from sleep. “But… but mine…”
“Remember what I told you?”
Her sir’s words flew up and out of her memory, plastering to the walls of her brain and filling her up with mind boggling sensations of goodness. “Master… Bea is, um, master’s favorite… al… always…” the repetition reassured her, feeding her back into the trance of her sir’s. “Good… good girls ‘re… um… good girls listen to sir…”
Their face softened, gentle and tender and so very loving it as they settled her head back to the floor. She had forgotten completely what had been so horrifying she had made such a dreadful scene, and with oncoming unconsciousness did not have the mind to think about it. “Remember that always my dear. Meet me after group, okay? I’ll grant your every little wish then.”
“Oh… ‘kay…” Bea nuzzled into the lush rug below her, purring with warmth. “Love you… sir…”
With one more pat to the head Adrastus huffed a grin, licking her ears with a sweet whisper. “Of course you do.”
…
“But… but I don’t want you to leave…” Bea whimpered, raw with confusion and anguish.
“I know, baby, I know.” Her sir soothed, petting her kindly as she curled in their lap.
“You can’t… please…!” How could they leave her, just like that? How could she possibly live without them? Even their blissful magic proved futile against the pain of their horrid news.
“Oh, darling I’ll be back. It’s just for a few weeks. A simple vacation.”
Bea whined, guttural and grating, an animalistic noise that gnawed at her throat, so overcome by the desperation of needing her sir to get by. “But… I can’t… without you…!” She could never survive without their pleasant touches and words. How had she ever done so before?
They chuckled condescendingly, still sweet to their pet’s ears. “Yes, love, I know. So helpless without master, you are.”
Mhm, mhm!” Bea nodded, so very eager for her sir to understand.
“Pitiful, really, but so very cute.” They scratched below her chin, sending her reeling back into the void of mindlessness for a mere moment.
They just had to see how helpless she was without them! They had to know how dearly she depended on them! “S… stay…?” She whispered, meek and timid.
“I told you, pumpkin, I can’t.”
“Please! Please!” She squealed, clawing at their exquisite dress. They clutched her wrists, rubbing over her skin with those wondrously heart pulsing thumbs of theirs.
“I have business to attend to, darling, I simply cannot. Tell you what though, my dear,” They started, their endearing grin creeping its way over their lips, melting Bea into a puddle of adoration. “How would you like to accompany me?”
Bea’s heart practically stopped, words choking in a bubble in her throat. “R- really? Really?”
They smiled, satisfied with her unbridled excitement. “Yes, love. Doesn’t that just sound wonderful? Meet with me right after group, and I’ll take you home. To your new home.” Her sir cupped her chin, mixing her mind with heaven and glee.
“Oh, sir, I, I love you… sir…” Bea mewled, blindly prepared to start a new life with her sir. What could ever be better?
“I know, dear. I love you too.”
“Love… you… can’t wait…”
They pulled her tight, hugging in an embrace of love and care. “Me neither.” Bea had no clue what was yet to come.

Um um um what about one where Jacob and Xolo have actress!reader on their podcast and they are just talking about acting but Jacob stares at her thebwhole time and gushes about her roles she's done before and Xolo teases him for "fanboying" over and having a crush on her?

(Unedited) (No Tags)
Reader really couldn't believe that out of all people Xolo and Jacob would be asking her to be on their podcast.
She originally met Xolo for a quick moment on a big red carpet event. It was months back and it was only for a split second. She had been seated at a table next to his for the dinner part of the event. They had simply said hi and that evolved into a quick conversation before the show started.
A week later he was sending her a DM though Insta a pretty normal conversation compared to some of the other weird messages she has gotten. He just made small talk and asked some general questions. It wasn't long into their small friendship that he asked the odd question.
“Would you be cool coming into the podcast with me and Jacob? As a guest start?”
She found it a little odd but didn't see a problem with it.
Sitting up in the middle of the night in her bed scrolling along. Her eyes reread the message over again to make sure she was actually seeing it right. Thinking it over the idea did sound kinda fun. She had done interviews before of course but never a podcast. It could be kinda fun and she would also be able to hang out with what she was sure of was a good friend. With the tap of a finger she sent a message agreeing to meet up and appear on the podcast the following month.
“Uh Reader are you in there? You okay?” Xolo’s voice broke her out of the small flashback she was having. Gathering her thoughts she nodded before looking over to the tanned man. He grinned as he started to walk into the small building. She quickly fell beside him as they made their way inside. Xolo’s smooth voice rang out “I'm so excited that you actually agreed to come on the podcast. I was kinda scared you wouldn't want to.” Reader laughed a little “Oh come on I couldn't pass up this fun experience! And plus this gives us a reason to actually meet up again, in person.” at that a switch seemed to flip on his brain.
His eyes widened for a moment as if he finally remembered something important “Oh yeah! I totally forgot that the last time we actually saw each other was when we were at that award event.” Reader nodded.
After walking around a few hallways they finally seemed to find the right door.
Before Xolo opened the door all they way he whispered “Dude Jacob is so excited to actually meet you so don't freak out if he's a little weird at first.” Reader raised a brow at him but before she could say something Xolo was pushing the door open. Walking in they were met with a pretty clean and comfortable room. It wasn't the usual set but it was very similar. The vibe was warm and friendly. A splash of oranges and reds filled the room in different things. Fuzzy red bean bags sat on the floor which had a amazing orange and red run underneath.
A few mics were laid around the room as well. A huge set of high-quality and expensive camera equipment. She could only guess that most of the other stuff behind the camera was their streaming equipment. Besides all of that stuff along with a few detective pieces, that was all the room had inside it.
Except for the person sitting in one of the chairs scrolling on his phone before looking up at them. Jacob grinned and shot up from his chair, throwing his phone back into the seat before walking over to them.
“Yo!! Man, you made it right on time I was just about to text you.” he gave the other guy a small side hug. Xolo laughed at his excitement saying “Yeah it's no big deal, I was just waiting for Reader to get here. I wanted to make sure she was able to find her way here. Didn't want her getting lost or anything, plus it gave up a minute to talk.” Jacob only blinked at him. His grin disappeared and was pulled into more of a small smile with a hint of flatness. The look made Reader want to say something but the words caught in her throat.
She had never meet Jacob before and almost all of what she knew about him was from Xolo. Colo talked about him quiet a bit in their texts to each other. It was pretty normals seeing as the two where such good friends and had been on the same show and set for so long now. Their friendship seemed sweet. She couldn't deny that in some of her free time she had sat down and watched a few interview clips of the two friends together. Their friendship was strong and she loved that for them.
Seeing Jacob in person was a whole new experience for her. She didn't exactly expect to feel what she was now feeling. Her cheeks heated up a little at the new feeling of closeness between them.
Jacob was both cute and hot all at once. He was extremely attractive up close and personal. Maybe it was just different then looking at him in some pictures or in a few videos online. Seeing him up close made her see a lot more. His eyes, his nose, ears and brows. All of those stuck out to her in a good way.
In some way her mind tried to rip those thoughts from her consciousness.
Two sets of eyes were on her and for once she felt a little nervous.
In a weak attempt to get the attention off of her for a moment she interjected into their conversation “So are you guys ready to sit down and record this thing?” both boys grinned at her and nodded.
—————————————————————-
Reader couldn't stop laughing at the boys and their silly games. The two were constantly cracking jokes throughout the stream. Every weird little comment and joke had her stomach twisting up in laughter. She had to cover her face for a minute as they all busted out laughing at something Jacob said a moment before.
The laughter slowly died down and soon they were all sitting in a nice calm atmosphere.
“So Reader now that we are getting into this, what has been your favorite role so far?” Xolo asked. Reader gave a small hum before thinking back to all of her past film roles. One of her favorites came to mind but before she could say it Jacob was blurting out his own answer.
“Mine had to be your character Missy from Sweet Dreams with Love. Amazing acting on your part and you pulled it off perfectly. I watched it like fine times, it's one of my favorite movies too.” his voice filled with a hint of excitement. Readers fave heated up a little bit. That was such a old movie that she had stared in. It was actually one of the first gigs she ever got.
Xolo leaned over in his chair a little “Oh so you know some of Reader's work then?” he said into the mic.
Jacob snorted saying “Yeah, Sweet Dreams with Love, Voice from Above, Ran Faster, She Sleeps at Dawn. I even watched that one show, Meet me at Freddy's that she was in for a while.” his voice started ti get a little more pitched as he went on “Her character type that she plays is just so good, and she plays them perfectly in my opinion. When I hear she's in something new I always just hope she's playing the same character type because it fits her as an actress so perfectly.” he sat back in his seat.
Readers face felt like it was now on fire with what she had just heard.
She couldn't believe that Jacob was a fan of her work like that. Hearing him talk about her and even the work she had been in made her feel all bubbly inside. She didn't expect him to name so many movies and tv shows. A feeling of warmth sped through her chest at the new information.
Xolo laughed loudly while putting his hands up “Wow okay so apparently our boi Jacob might just be a super fan guys. I'm learning something every day with this guy.”
“Don't make it sound weird man-”
“No no for Reader’s sake I will stop before you start fanboying again. You might start drooling on her or something, or worst try and hunp her leg in the studio. I don't want to see that and I doubt out views do either.” Xolo says pointing at the camera with a smirk. Jacob slumps back with slightly pink cheeks. His eyes rolling as he looks away from them for a split second. He's right back to his regular self only seconds later, cracking a joke not even a minute latter and making them laugh.
The rest of the show is spent talking and joking, having a good conversation about Reader's life and career.
But all that talking doesn't stop Reader from feeling all warm. Her eyes strayed from Xolo and the camera a bit too much. Instead they found their way to Jacob. Watching every slight movement he made. Like her brain was taking notes for something later. She didn't know why but the more she looked at him the more she questioned him.
She wanted to know more about him. What he liked and didn't. What his hobbies where and his favorite places to go.
She wanted to know if he really did like her characters.
Because if he truly did, then he would like her seeing as almost all of her characters were almost always tailored to herself. Every character that she ever tried to audition for was similar to her in some way. Her one flaw in acting was not being able to play characters she couldn't really relate to or channel. It was just one of her quirks.
Reader didn't really remember when the podcast ended but soon enough it was just her and Jacob left in the room.
Colo had already taken off after the stream had ended and he claimed to be going home to work on editing some stuff with it. This left her and Jacob alone. They cleaned up a bit before heading out together. The walk to the parking lot was a bit quiet. It was almost as if both of them were a bit embarrassed by what had just taken place inside. They walked side by side as they reached the main part of the lot. The silent was there and caused Reader to flake a little. Any thoughts of asking him about a thing faded. She realized that this was just a one time thing and the chance that Jacob would try to contact her again was-
“Hey so I hope me…sating all of that stuff on stream didn't creep you out. I guess I just get really passionate sometimes. I really do like your movies.” Jacob said while looking over to her. His face was serious, not like the humorous grin he was wearing almost the whole stream.
“No no! I'm actually happy that you like my work so much! It can be hard to tell sometimes if people like my acting or if they just like the movies I'm in. It's nice to know you liked, well me, in them. It's kinda refreshing I guess.” she couldn't help the small part of her that was insecure about her roles. It was hard for an actress like her to know if people liked her work due to her size sometimes. It was a pretty common topic that came up, she hated it. But it was still something she had to deal with.
Jacob seemed to almost understand where she was coming from.
“Yeah no I love you work! You do such an amazing job with your characters. Your also just a really good actress, and well a good person too I guess.” his voice cut out a little at the end. He was definitely hiding something. Reader raised a brow which had the guy every so slightly panicked.
“Okay so maybe I have watched a few interviews you have done and you were real nice. And you're super cute too so I mean you can't blame me for wanting to go watch some videos with you in them, can you?” his eyes meet hers. For a minute they just stood there looking at each other.
She couldn't help but smile at him “No I can't, that's very sweet of you.” Jacob’s look of panic eases at her words.
“Hey um why don't you take this.” Reader fumbled in her pocket for a minute. Feeling around she found what she was looking for. Pulling out a small piece of paper and shoving it into Jacob’s hand. He looks down at his hand in question. Before he could ask her what the paper was she had already started jogging away.
“Just call me okay? Or text me!?” her voice carried through the parking lot before she was out of sight. Jacob could only watch as she ran off. He looked down at his hand and flipped the piece of paper around only to find a business card with her name and number. He smirked to himself before slapping the light card around on his other palm.
He mumbled to himself “And Xolo told me I was being too much of a fanboy, well fanboy got the girls number so…” he laughed a little, giving the empty parking lot one last look before heading home for the day.

Sister Macabre had been hard at work all day in the kitchen, cutting fruit and preparing other produce from the gardens for meals. All she wanted was to collapse in her bed for the evening.
As she approached the door to her quarters, she could hear her needy hairless cat, Bazooka Joe, howling for her on the other side. She would love to let him roam freely throughout the ministry, but with Copia's rats running about, it wasn't the best of ideas.
The second she opened the door, she began to try and reason with him, "I know, Joe Joe, I know. Just give me a sec, and I'll-"
Just like that, the chubby feline dashed out of the door, right between her legs. For a big boy, he was awfully quick on his paws.
"Bazooka Joe! Get back here!" The sister yelled after him. She wasn't worried about how he would react to fellow siblings or ghouls. He loved both people and the demonic entities that lurked in the shadows here, but the last thing she wanted was to be on Papa's shit list for a devoured rodent. She chased after her not-so-fuzzy companion as he darted down corridor after corridor until she didn't even recognize where they were anymore. Now, she wasn't all that new to the ministry, but there were just some places she never got the chance to explore.
She found herself in awe of the dated wing that BJ had led her to. It was much simpler than what she had come to expect. As her beloved cat rounded a corner, she blindly followed after him until she bumped into someone or something. She fell backwards, cursing at herself for not looking where she was going.
"Shit! Ow! That little turd is gonna get it when I get my hands on him..." Looking up, she saw what appeared to be a ghoul towering over her. She didn't recognize this one, though, and she considered herself pretty well acquainted with most of them by now.
"Oops! Sorry about that! I should've been paying better attention." A nervous chuckle escaped her.
Mullion was enjoying a very slow morning at the Ministry. For the past few weeks, he'd been hard at work for as many hours of the day as he couldn't manage, trying to finish replacing all of the decor in the Ministry for the new guy. He danced lazily around his sprawling workshop, hopping downstairs from his loft and twirling as he maneuvered around the massive rose window that lied half-constructed on top of an intricate cartoon on his floor. Without his usual working schedule, he had no idea what he wanted to do first. He knew he needed to grab his inhaler after breakfast, but he could bathe before he ate, too. And if he was going to bathe anyway, he might as well have spent some time tending to the garden just outside his wing of the Ministry.
A long sigh escaped him as he looked out on the garden through the massive window behind his organ, what was practically a massive, very flattering, and very flustering portrait of Papa Nihil and Primo. He kept the window covered most days, but his workshop was getting so cold without its constant sun streaming inside that his joints were creaking like the hinges on a drawbridge every time he decided he wanted to move about instead of staying in a bean bag chair for a whole day. But looking out at the garden, even for a second, had him weak. He'd waited too long, and now he had to harvest all that he'd yielded from his old crops and plant the new summer flowers. He yawned and wrestled an extra box of cigarettes from the top of his fridge just thinking about how long it'd take him—but at least he didn't need his cane.
He was just about to head out to the patio when a bolt of pink lightning struck his workshop, something running faster than he could fathom in the moment he noticed. It was too big to be one of Copia's rats... or one of the normal rats, for that matter, and moving too quickly to be one of the large reptiles Mullion sometimes stole for himself to look after for a few weeks. Curious, he wandered outside of his workshop, just in case there was another lovely creature he could try to catch in his arms this time.
Instead, one of the Sisters of Sin swung herself around the corner and ran head-first into him, immediately falling to the ground. Mullion had gone stiff as a falling goat, even bleating similarly in shock when they collided, but avoided knocking himself over by throwing his body into the wall. He panted heavily, heart beating faster than a steam locomotive chugging down a cross country track. It took him what felt like half an hour to come to his wits and reach out to help the Sister stand. He couldn't do too much, since he was scrawny and weak—his work jacket and gut always made him look bigger and stronger than he was, but it was just an unfortunate side effect—but if the thought was there, maybe he wouldn't get screamed at.
Mullion held out his hands, leaning over the fallen Sister. His body blocked the dim sunlight from hitting her eyes, so he just looked like a big shadow with twitching ears, shining teeth and claws, and eyes, though they were hidden behind dark welding goggles, still looking like molten metal or brimstone itself. "Oh, my dear... are you alright? Why were you moving so urgently? Did something happen?" He rasped through his usual morning nausea, his long tail tucking nervously between his legs. "And... don't worry about it. This whole Ministry is like one big labyrinth—too many corners, and you can never tell what's around them! I'm sorry for bumping into you like this, my dear..." He cut himself off and quickly helped her to her feet, mumbling to himself anxiously.
"You aren't hurt, right, dear? Can I get you anything? A water, an ice pack?"

In honor of it being Friday, what kind of stuff would Zack and Sephiroth get up to on Friday nights?
Yesss!!! The beans on Fridayyyyyyy! 💙💚 Excellent question!!!!
~
Zack’s Recorded List of Seph-i-Rocking Things He & Seph Have Done on Fridays!
• Movie Theater Theatrics - Aka, Zack really wanted his bud to experience an epic flick on the big screen, and so he took Sephiroth to the local Midgar cinema with the persuasion of popcorn and icees. What neither didn’t realize was that it was a local Silver Elite get together, that just so happened to be having their fun at the same exact showing time. This resulted in every seat of the auditorium being taken by a raging fanatic - four of whom tried to steal Seph’s popcorn to sell it, eight of whom tried to steal Seph’s icee straw, and 30 of whom tried to steal Zack’s seat to sit next to him. When one ended up spilling Zack’s candy amid the mayhem, Sephiroth proceeded to cast a mastered Sleep on the entire room (minus Zack). They then enjoyed the film in peace <3
• Laser Tag Tumult - Aka, Zack wanted his bud to experience the thrilling rush of adrenaline that was a game of lasar tag, and so he took Seph to the local laser attack arena for some fun. What neither didn’t realize was that it was that a birthday party for an eight year old had also been booked there at the same exact night. This resulted in Zack & Seph being put on separate teams, each armed with a platoon of vicious, cake-fueled third graders on their side. Only problem was that the kids on Zack’s side were so petrified to play against Sephiroth that they wouldn’t leave the safety spot of their home base. In a moment of quick and compassionate thinking, Zack got his little team into a huddle, proceeding to whisper to him all the adorable things he had seen Sephiroth do: fall asleep on the couch wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, slurping up ramen, and the way he gave the warmest and most loving hugs when you needed one. The squad was so touched and amused that they proceeded to storm Sephiroth’s team - and the game was ON - Zack’s little battalion intoning “General Squishy” all the while.
• Night Club Clatter - Aka, Zack wanted his bud to experience the classic weekend experience when he was in his prime, and so he took Seph to Midgar’s local night club - The Bombed Squad. Zack promised to never leave his friend’s side, sitting next to him at the bar as music exploded all around them, for one unbothered by swarming fanatics as Sephiroth had the foresight to dress up this time. But what couldn’t plague Seph with autograph requests and photos was instead replaced by the erupting music and flashing lights. He sat at the bar, shaking in his arms, enhanced hearing making everything all the more potent. Seeing this, Zack asked his friend if they wanted to leave, rubbing his pal’s back in a gesture of comfort. Seph said yes. HOWEVER—as they were about to dip, Sephiroth’s all-time favorite song came on, and the anxiety melted away into amusement and fun as Zack pulled him to the dance floor to have one of the best night of their lives. (It was also the first time Zack ever saw Seph get the least bit tipsy.)
• Bowling Bash - Aka, Zack wanted his bud to experience the thrill of sporty completion, and so he took a disguised Seph to the local bowling alley for some good-hearted rivalry. All was going well as they got their shoes and picked their lane, the establishment bustling with the perfect blend of energy and breathability. Zack decided to go first; he picked up a ball, raced across the lane, and bowled the thing with all his might. A clean 9/10! Zack cheered as he turned back to his clapping friend, playfully teasing for him to do better. Sephiroth happily accepted the challenge. Stepping up to the lane, his own shiny sphere in hand, he wound his arm back as the man prepared to bowl; aiming, focusing, releaSING—SMASSHHHHHH! And there went the bowling lane, gone in an instant, the floor having imploded from the sheer weight of the warrior’s alien-jacked strength. The rest of the night was spent at a local pizza parlors, hopping from one place to the next as they continued to run away from the manager. The duo couldn’t stop laughing when they returned home - the hardest Zack had ever seen his best friend laugh <3
• The Classic - Aka, Zack wanted his bud to do what he wanted to do one Friday night, and so the two SOLDIERs found themselves on Sephiroth’s couch amidst a peaceful and personal quiet. Nothing but talking; nothing but sharing stories, ordering in food, laughing, playing board games, and rocking at multiplayer video games Zack had long brought over from his apartment. He may have fun outside, but nothing really meant more to Sephiroth than being able to spend relaxing time with Zack <333

5. Alone
His mind still fuzzy from deep sleep, Will rolled over to the other side of the bed. The cold sheets worked like a cold plunge, waking him up immediately as the events of the previous day came back to him.
Fire, screams, the scent of burned flesh.
He buried his head in her pillow, not wanting to leave the bed yet, not wanting to face the unbearable truth just yet. As long as he lay here, he could pretend she got up early. Had a nightmare perhaps. The sweet hints of her perfume comforted him, in a way that should not hurt as much as it did. The knowledge that soon her smell would be gone, and nothing but his memory would be left. He felt a wave of nausea coming up, only just barely suppressed by closing his lips firmly. Jaw clenched.
The house was quiet, unusually so. Normally there would be soft and stinky morning kisses, words grumbled by a woman not yet ready for the day. The swish of her dressing gown, creaking of the shutters being opened. Will lay there, silent, waiting for a sound. Any sound that proved she was not gone. Dead. No such sound came. The quiet was no longer peaceful, but heavy. Lonely. It wasn’t until he heard Tugs worried whinnying that he dragged himself out of bed. He too heard they- he wasn’t up yet.
Opening the door to the empty cabin took all he had to give. Out of habit, Will walked towards the kitchen, grabbing the coffee beans, grinder and cups. He got to work measuring out the beans. Added a spoonful of honey to his own cup, realised he had taken two, and froze. He stared at her brown stained cup, thinking about how she would cradle it. How he would get the first smile of the day when he handed it to her. The cup left behind on the counter, Will trudged over to the fire, which was still out, kettle still cold. That was, Alyss’ job in the mornings. Putting the kettle in the hot coals, adding a single log to keep it alive was typically all she could get her to do before her morning coffee. Will could feel bile rise, looking at the cold fireplace, the shells and stones collected from her travels displayed on the mantle. The room started warping, spinning. His head buzzed with words he could not yet decipher, his stomach roiling with grief. He turned away, only to see her small desk, left behind as if she would walk in at any moment, pick up where she left off. The wooden carving he made her once used as a paperweight. As quick as he could, he fled outside for air, taking a hold of the door frame, letting the brisk morning cool his head, gather his thoughts. ‘she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone she’s gone.’ He rubbed his hands over his face, trying to get the thoughts out, ‘she’s dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Dead. Murdered. Murdered. Murdered. Burned alive. Murdered’. His head spun once again, his vision blacked out, the hole world seemed to stand still all of a sudden, while he kept turning. Stumbling forward he sat down in the rocking chair on the veranda. Her rocking chair. He closed his eyes, panicked, the world wouldn’t stop blacking out, fading. Deep breaths. What do you hear, Will? The horses. birds. rustling trees. the creaking of the chair. his own breathing. What do you see, Will? Opening his eyes carefully, he saw the grass. wildflowers. a trail of some brave bunnies. Alyss’ overshoes. What do you smell, Will? He took a deep breath, steadying himself. Averting his eyes from the mud caked shoes. The horses. morning dew. his own sweat. No coffee, no lingering perfume from the day before. No. Stop. Come on. Will, be stern with yourself. Focus. What do you taste, Will? His morning breath. The fresh air. What do you feel, Will? Despair.
Will closed his eyes, and wept.
The life he had dreamed of, the woman he had never deserved. The peace of mind and softness of life. It had all been ripped, burned, away from him. What would happen with her now? Was there a God out there willing to take her? Keep her safe? Was there even a God out there? If so, how could it smite him with this. Had he done wrong? Had he not always tried to be the best he could? Was she safe?
His heart gutted at the idea, the knowledge that there was nothing out there. Raised in the ward, and then by Halt, Will did not believe in such things as Gods. At least not the kind that created heavens. It tore him apart. If he could believe, maybe he could grieve better. Take comfort from the knowledge that she would at least be okay. That she would still be. All he got was the emptiness left behind by the past, the future.
He tried to refocus his thoughts. What do you see, Will? Her shoes. Her blanket. Her chair. Her favourite flowers. Her book, left behind on the summer evening. He failed to refocus his thoughts. She was everywhere. This little cabin was their world. She was his world.
Will stared out into the forest, thinking about the one thing that wouldn’t get him thinking about her. Nothing at all.

A sprout, so pale in its orange it looked white, crested the soil of the pot—a burst of the sun before it began a new day. Sometime between this morning’s watering and this evening’s, the bud decided it was time to experience life outside the comforting coolness of its soil.
Kazi thumbed the little sprout. “Hi, buddy.”
The sprout mushed, its fuzzy bulb tickling, and she slowly retracted her hand, not wanting to accidentally kill it. She watered the soil, mindful to hydrate the sprout without drowning it, and then leaned back on her haunches.
A look through the sunroom’s windows revealed her sister on the wraparound porch. She wanted to show Daria her sprout. Out of anyone, her sister would understand the significance of this moment.
However, Daria was enjoying the comfortable heat of the evening, peeling beans for tonight’s dinner. Matches sat beside her, helping. Based on Daria’s stained cheeks, the demolitions expert was telling her a crude story. Kazi decided not to interrupt. It was more amusing watching her sister’s strained smiles and encouraging nods as Matches laughed at something he said.
Beyond the porch, seated among an elder tree’s roots, Nova and Hound talked. Tree foliage provided ample shade to hide their expressions. Based on the article she found Nova reading yesterday, she assumed he would be working with Hound for the foreseeable future.
A sharp command rang through the cracked-open windows.
“Again,” Fox said.
Wiping at her forehead, Neyti glared at Fox.
“Don’t give me that look.” Fox crossed his arms over his chest. “You can do better—you will do better. Again.”
Huffing her frustration, Neyti faced Cody, lifted her balled fists, and lunged for the man’s hand. One jab with her left hand, a quick feint with the right, and a final punch with the left. Her knuckles collided with Cody’s palm. His smile was soft with encouragement. Neyti looked to Fox.
“Better,” Fox said. He assessed Neyti for a moment and then motioned to the table where Daria and Matches sat. “Get some water.”
With a satisfied nod, Neyti waltzed through the backyard’s ferns, plopping into an open chair and accepting a glass of water from Daria. Another glass went to Cody, who squeezed Daria’s shoulder.
Kazi looked Neyti over once, confirmed the little girl was well, and then returned her attention to Fox. His black shirt clung to his skin, and sweat slicked his curls back. He’d spent the entire afternoon working on his project, the fallen tree finally taking shape.
Its shape bewildered Kazi, though. She didn’t understand why Fox was building a—
“You have a nice set up.”
Kazi flinched, glancing over her shoulder. Court stood beneath the sunroom’s partition, still dressed in the same black jumpsuit the men had found him in. At least it looked tighter and crisper, freshly washed.
“Thank you,” Kazi said, regaining her feet and dusting her hands together. Court regarded her, his head tilted in assessment. Nonplussed, she cleared her throat. “You know, you don’t have to stay inside, if you don’t want to. There’s a lake, and the jungle is full of hiking trails.”
A dismissive nod preceded his approach, and he surveyed those outside. “How often do you work?”
Studying his side-profile, the reddish hue of the setting sun set the whites of his eyes on fire, Kazi hedged, “I work a normal schedule.”
He was silent, unblinking, and she glanced at the elder tree where Nova sat, wondering if Court needed to talk to someone. Needed…help. Then again, he held himself with a stable composure, seemingly collected and unaffected, rather than a man facing a potential mental collapse.
“Are you interested in getting a job?” Kazi asked.
His lips twitched. “We’ll all need one. What do the former commanders do?”
She waved toward the windows. “They work these missions.”
“And their income? Where does their pay come from?”
“Most likely their contact.” Moving toward the game table, she pretended to tidy Wolffe’s puzzle, an attempt to create distance. Maybe she was being rude, too wary, but she couldn’t muster the shame to care. “But I don’t actually know. If you’re interested in joining them, I would talk to them about it. I can get Wolffe—”
“I’ll talk to him later.” Court twisted away from the windows. Those deadened eyes fell on her eyes, sharp and probing. “Wolffe said you work for the government. What do you do?”
“I’m an analyst.” Tension curled in her stomach, uncertain as a fog descending on a harbor. “I track military exports.”
Court didn’t need to know about her private work for the magistrate: the intel she continued to analyze concerning the missing and deserted clones. With the men’s help, Fox’s expertise in slicing especially, the scrubbed and manipulated data had protected their missions. So far.
“You must have a high security clearance.”
“Somewhat.” Kazi shrugged. “The Security Institute was founded less than two years ago. It’s still rudimentary compared to Imperial governances in the Mid and Inner Rims.”
“You work with a band of rogue clones, yet you serve in Imperial forces.” Court took a step in her direction. “Why do they trust you?”
“I may work for the government,” she said slowly, “but that doesn’t mean I support it.”
A twitch overcame Court’s face and he opened his mouth. Soft footfalls interrupted, however, and a moment later, Wolffe appeared. A black work shirt replaced his usual white, the sleeves rolled to his forearms; his usual gray poncho was nestled in the crook of his elbow.
Inclining his head to Court, Wolffe faced her. “We’re going, Ennari.”
Kazi frowned. “Where?”
“Out.” Wolffe extended his hand. “To dinner.”
“Neyti?”
“Daria said she’ll watch her. Cody is making dinner. And Nova’s setting up his telescope for Neyti to use tonight.” A satisfied smirk, similar to the one Neyti had sported a few minutes ago, completed his smug demeanor. “Any other questions?”
Smiling, she placed her hand in his palm. “Where are we going?”
The red sun burnished the wooden flattops of Hollow’s Town, the sky spired with brilliant orange and creeping navy blue.
Kazi and Wolffe wandered the Marketplace’s walkways, the colorful canopies withdrawn to allow the evening sunshine to warm the stalls. Small crowds loitered on the streets. Wolffe, with his hood drawn, blended in well.
He was on edge, though, his tells noticeable only because she had studied him so closely for months. A rigid set to his shoulders. A forced casualness to his stroll. An occasional flex in his fingers, even though they were clasped behind his back.
The Imperial presence was confined to Canopis, at the moment. But Kazi knew, from the blaster strapped to his thigh, Wolffe didn’t trust them to remain in the capital, and he wanted to be prepared. Since he was as obstinate as he was mistrustful, she didn’t suggest they return to the house. Instead, she reached for his hand.
Warm fingers curled around hers, slow and tentative. A thumb smoothed a light circle to the back of her hand.
Their stroll slowed and they rounded a corner.
Strong spices wafted through the air, as palpable as the steam from roasting meat. The crowds here were louder, busier. Kazi leaned into Wolffe, resting her other palm against his bicep. His muscle bunched; his fingers twitched in her hand.
“Neyti spoke to me,” she said. They paused near a stall selling Elucan wine, and Wolffe looked down at her, his eyes widened in surprise. She’d spent the last few days debating whether or not to tell him, but his opinion mattered, and she needed to share it with someone. Someone who understood the importance of this moment without turning it into a lecture or demands for the future. “I wasn’t expecting it.”
“She trusts you,” Wolffe said, eyeing an expensive bottle of white wine. “Has she said anything else?”
“No.” They moved to the next stall. “She was looking at my adventure book when she spoke. That’s how I knew she wanted to go flying the other day. She told me.”
A splinter of darkening sunlight lit Wolffe’s face and the slight curve of his mouth. Her eyes narrowed.
“You have an adventure book?” he asked. A hint of amusement softened his tone.
“Yes.” He huffed a quiet chuckle and she rolled her eyes, fighting the urge to smile. “My mother got it for me when I was young and I filled it with a bunch of photos from my trips at sea.” She paused. “My parents called me their ‘adventurous’ kid. Hence, the name of the book. Real original, I know.”
Ahead, the walkway ended and they exited the Marketplace, aiming for downtown.
Wolffe kept their pace slower, more idle, as if trying to delay their arrival at the restaurant. “You don’t think you’re adventurous anymore?”
Kazi laughed. “No.”
“Why not?”
“It happens when you get older—you lose interest in stuff like that,” she said. “You mature and realize life is different.”
“Would you think differently if you still lived on Ceaia?” Wolffe’s tone was inscrutable, assessing.
“No, and it doesn’t matter.” She gestured to their surroundings. “I live here now.”
“Do you want to live here?”
“What I want doesn’t matter.” His hand stiffened in hers, and she pursed her lips, sighing. “We’re safe, that’s what matters. And Daria’s medicine and healer are here, and getting Neyti adopted is easier—”
“What?” Halting in the middle of the empty walkway, Wolffe stared at her, brows furrowed and mouth parted. “You’re putting Neyti up for adoption?”
Kazi winced, releasing his arm. “It’s…been one of my goals since we first arrived here.”
Bewilderment wrinkled his features as he searched her face, and she gritted her teeth, berating herself for being so careless.
“Her application has been processed,” she said. “Now it’s simply a matter of when a family shows interest.”
It was the wrong thing to say, apparently, because Wolffe straightened, his jaw clenching. “You love that little girl, Ennari.”
“That doesn’t matter.” He started to protest and she cut him off. “It doesn’t. I was never meant to be a mother, and Neyti needs someone who is.”
“Why.” The word was flat, harsh like the press of his lips and the glint in his eyes.
“Because.” Her cheeks warmed and she averted her gaze, shrugging blasely. “I’m not the affectionate, loving type that Neyti needs—that any youngling needs.”
“You’re not…” Wolffe scoffed, his grip around her hand clammy and tight. His face lowered to hers. “Who told you that shit?”
“Wolffe—”
“Who.”
“Stop it.”
The things her mother told her—the things she knew were true—weren’t his concern. And she wasn’t in the mood to humiliate herself in front of him tonight. But Wolffe scowled at her, his demand unwavering.
“You weren’t here those first two months,” Kazi said stiffly. “You didn’t see her. She lost her mother and that relationship isn’t replaceable.”
“I’m not arguing it is,” he hissed. “But she needs a mother—”
“Yeah. She does. And I’m not that woman.”
“You can’t give her up—”
“I’m her caretaker, and I decide what’s best—”
“And if I want to step up?”
“Don’t say that,” she snapped. His nostrils flared and she gritted her teeth harder. “Neyti is my responsibility, and mine only. Not yours.” She swallowed. “Anyway, we haven’t even been together for a month—”
“I’ve cared l—” Wolffe faltered. Working his jaw, he regarded her for a long, stilted minute, and then he shook his head. “Don’t be rash.” He clutched her hand harder. “That’s all I’m asking. Something comes up, we talk about it.”
For a pent breath, she considered him. “Fine.”
Anger still clenched his jaw, and annoyance pinched his mouth, but Kazi refused to cave.
She meant it, what she said. Wolffe might want to fill a role in Neyti’s life, a role that was needed, but his missions were his primary concern. They came first; she had learned that lesson the hard way. And she wouldn’t allow Neyti to form an attachment only to lose another parent. She wouldn’t allow another little girl to lose her papa.
Kazi continued along the walkway, and Wolffe fell in step beside her, their hands still interlaced.
“Please don’t tell the others,” she said after a few paces. “Daria doesn’t know. Neyti doesn’t even know, and I don’t want it to get out. It’s possible nothing ever comes of it.”
A heavy sigh heaved from Wolffe. His thumb continued to circle the back of her palm. An instinct. Or afterthought.
The sun had finally set, the dark blues and grays of a tumultuous sea bathing the horizon.
A group of males, loud and rowdy, strolled toward them. Wolffe tugged her closer and they crossed the street, evening’s shadows casting him as a more imposing figure.
Stilted silence yawned between them, nearly physical in its discomfort.
Surveying the darkening sky, Kazi broke the silence. “Why are your brothers teaching Neyti to spar?”
Wolffe released a low chuckle; some of his tension ebbed away. “We all learned when we were young.”
“Your upbringing was quite different.”
“Learning how to protect yourself is a good skill for anyone to learn.” He gave her a pointed look. “You should learn too. You and Daria.”
“Daria? The one who’s getting weaker and weaker with each passing month?” Her smile lacked mirth, and Wolffe winced, a silent apology in his squeeze of her hand. “I agree it’s a good skill to have. But it’s ultimately pointless. A real soldier will always be able to overpower me.”
“You don’t learn self-defense to win a fight,” Wolffe said. “You learn it so you have a chance to escape and run. To survive.”
“I know.”
“Do you?” Frustration roughened his voice, and they paused on the edge of a walkway, waiting for an aircar to pass. “You’re acting too flippant with your life. I don’t like it.”
She sniffed. “I understand what you’re saying. And I think it’s good that you guys are teaching Neyti.”
He observed her through narrowed eyes, as if debating whether to believe her. “Promise me you’ll fight. If it ever comes to it—promise me you’ll survive.”
“Wolffe—”
“Kazi.”
The seriousness in his face, the tightness of his grip, told her he wouldn’t drop this. That he cared about this, and that she owed him a truthful answer.
Holding his gaze, she said, “I promise.”
Signs flickered to life, buttery yellow and warm. People enjoying a meal or drink busied the restaurants and cantinas’ patios.
They walked in silence. While Wolffe’s quiet was contemplative, Kazi was second-guessing their conversation about Neyti.
And if I want to step up?
The words were a kindle to that soft glow within her. Dangerous, if she truly analyzed the situation. But she didn’t, avoiding the glow steadily escaping her control, and instead concentrated on tearing apart the question.
Because, really, he had no business suggesting it. They were friends, and they were trying this thing between them, and he didn’t even realize the hurt he would cause when he—
“Do you feel alive?”
The question yanked her from her thoughts, and she blinked at Wolffe. He was staring straight ahead, the neutrality in his features forcibly apathetic.
“Do you?” Kazi asked curiously.
Rolling his shoulders back, he shrugged. “Growing up, we were told we were soldiers. Nothing more. Nothing less. We were soldiers. That was it.”
They paused outside the restaurant, its sign lucent white, and he faced her, his expression guarded. Vulnerable.
“I’m not convinced I’ve known what it feels like to be alive. Outside of basic instinct to survive. I didn’t know that feeling. Even as a boy,” he said, his voice lowering. Hoarsening. “But being here—seeing my brothers safe, the lot of us doing what we want…” His fingers flexed around hers. His gaze remained guarded, and yet it grew softer. Gentler. “I think I’m starting to.”
“You deserve it,” she said. Because he did, and sometimes, she wasn’t convinced he believed it. “To rest. To put yourself first. To go after what you want. You deserve it all, Wolffe.” The evening’s darkness enveloped his face, soft hands holding him, though the restaurant’s white light sharpened his scar. She brushed a finger across his cheek. Just beneath his scarred eye. “You deserve to live.”
He twisted, his lips grazing her palm. “You do too.”
Her smile was weary, similar to the exhaustion he couldn’t seem to shake. They were both trying.
“Eluca was supposed to be safe,” Kazi muttered.
Setting aside her datapad, she lifted her face to Wolffe. He was hovering behind her, one hand braced on the back of her chair, the other flattened to her desk, while he read over her shoulder.
Both the local news and her private comm line with Fehr and Carinthia lacked information.
Dinner had been a quiet affair. An assortment of sauteed vegetables, steamed rice, and freshly baked bread filled their stomachs; a glass of whiskey and a mug of Elucan chocolate mush further emphasized the ease of the early night. Whatever tension had survived their conversation on the walkways soon winked out, replaced by blue-white stars winking into existence.
Their soft laughs and relaxed demeanors were ripped away, though, when a military vehicle arrived. Stormtroopers leapt from the vehicle. They stormed the cantina across the street.
Within three minutes, it was over. Two bloodied males were dragged away.
Kazi had loosed a breath of relief, grateful the two males were the stormtroopers’ targets. Because the moment the black vehicle rumbled onto the street, she’d feared for Wolffe’s life.
Thought a passerby or patron had reported him.
Sat, trembling, as she tried to determine a plan of action so he could escape.
The dinner revealed one thing: if it came to it, she would sacrifice anyone to keep her family safe.
Leaning back in her seat, Kazi scowled at her ceiling. “Eluca was the safest option compared to other planets. It was never supposed to be like this.”
Gods, she sounded pathetic. Complaintive and whiny, ungrateful. At least they didn’t live in Canopis; at least Hollow’s Town remained relatively safe and free of Imperial oversight.
Wolffe perched himself on the edge of her desk, folding his arms over his chest. He regarded her with a carefully even expression.
“Do you think it’ll get worse?” she asked.
“Can’t say.” He frowned at the files on her ‘pad. “But things can change quick. I know that firsthand.”
She dropped her gaze to the hands wringing in her lap. “I just want to feel safe. And I know how ignorant and unfair that sounds coming from me when you—”
“You deserve to feel safe, Ennari.” A firm steadiness hardened his voice, a mountain weathering the strongest of winds, unmoved. Quietly, Wolffe added, “We all do.”
Deciding it was too late to dwell on the increasing danger of their situation, Kazi started to untie her braids, a necessary distraction from the thoughts whirling inside, and instead, chose to watch Wolffe.
He was studying her room: the gray, folded sheets of her bed and the matching quilt; the bookshelves along the opposite wall housing her adventure book, a cactus from Daria, and a charcoal sketch Neyti had drawn of the ocean; the white curtains tucked aside, revealing the jungle’s rolling hills.
“Your shelves could use some personality,” Wolffe commented.
Judgment underscored his tone, and she frowned. “I didn’t know you’re an interior decorator.”
He threw her a bored look and pushed away from her desk, approaching the shelves. “Why’s your dragon downstairs?”
“She doesn’t match my aesthetic.” At the roll of his eyes, she chuckled, glancing at her closed door. Though her dragon remained downstairs, she swore she could feel its unblinking gaze, observing her in its uncanny way. Sobering, Kazi said, “She’s too much of a reminder of life before.”
Wolffe wandered to her bed. “Before what?”
“Before everything.” Setting aside her hair ties, she combed her fingers through her hair. “Before my father died. Before Daria and I stopped liking each other. Before the Purge. Before all of this.” Her voice had grown colder, bitter, and she cleared her throat. “I tried to get rid of her but I couldn’t. So she sits downstairs. It was a compromise.”
Reassessing her room, as if she was looking through Wolffe’s eyes, Kazi grimaced. Her bedroom was nothing more than utilitarian: bare, clean, tidy. Lifeless. The only sign someone had recently lived here was the lack of dust. Even her cactus could survive without her.
The rustle of dried paper interrupted her musings as Wolffe lifted a seed packet from her nightstand. He arched a brow at her.
Her cheeks warmed. “It was a thoughtful gift.”
“This is trash,” he deadpanned. It was her turn to roll her eyes, and Wolffe shook his head, replacing the seed packet back where it belonged. Another slow survey of her room commenced, and then he straightened. His head angled toward her refresher. “Can I use your shower?”
Kazi blinked, momentarily rendered speechless. It was such a random request. And yet there was something bedded into his words, scrupulously layered, guarded: a question, no, a suggestion.
Perplexed, she gestured to the ‘fresher in acquiescence, and, after a prolonged search of her face, Wolffe disappeared. A few seconds later and the spray of water, a gentle patter, spilled through the cracked door.
Kazi returned her attention to her ‘pad.
Keying into the datafolders Fehr passed along every month or so, she searched for Ceaia.
A foolish idea, really. Ever since her arrival on Eluca, she’d avoided the network’s reports on Ceaia. To her knowledge, they were mere assessments of Imperial presence in the Outer Rim. Simply a means to remain informed. Anyway, she would never return to her home planet, so updates were pointless, a dull fingernail reopening a flesh wound.
But tonight…
The first datafile inside the Ceaian ‘folder presented an overview of the planet: Most of the information detailed the small Imperial force in the capital and the Empire’s disinterest in the planet. Imps bolstered the central government on the eastern continent. Rebellion was nonexistent. Kazi knew all this.
However, the further she read, the more bemused she became.
The rebel network had suggested planet-level analyses of Ceaia’s continents, major cities, and even certain harbors. For some reason, the network was interested in Ceaia.
Chewing the inside of her cheek, Kazi scanned the report closer, but any mentions of the network’s plans were properly redacted. Still, she skimmed the analyses.
Searching…
There were individual files on specific cities and harbors.
She scanned the list.
Familiar names flitted past.
She scrolled further, searching for—
Outlook Harbor.
Her heart stumbled at the familiar name; a cold sweat clammed her palms.
The rebel network had investigated her harbor—a harbor in the northern continent lacking any connection to Imperial accusations and the Purge. Opening Outlook’s file, she read through it.
Sensitive information redacted—information that clearly detailed the network’s plans—Kazi could only theorize the network’s goals. But there was one line that caught her attention. One line, in the Overview section, that demanded her attention.
Empire rumored to abandon shortly.
The sentence replayed in her mind, a broken holofilm repeating over and over.
Because, if the Empire abandoned Ceaia, Outlook Harbor would be safe and maybe—
Shoving away from her desk, Kazi massaged her temples, pacing the length of her room.
It was too late. Things were in motion here, and finding hope within a rumor, a fucking rumor, was asinine.
She had chosen to run, and Ceaia was in the past, and she couldn’t dwell on it any longer. She wouldn’t.
A sudden quiet seeped into her room; a creak told her that Wolffe had exited the shower, and she stilled.
Everything within her went silent.
A distraction, she wanted a distraction. No, she wanted comfort: She was still running, and she was tired, and her soul was so sore, and she wanted to pause for just a moment to feel something.
Alive, she wanted to feel alive, and she wanted to feel it with Wolffe.
Fingers trembling, Kazi removed her sweater, untied her trousers, tossed her clothes and underthings into her hamper. She moved across the bedroom; the resolved beat of her heart, steady, unflappable, complimented her soft rap on the ‘fresher door.
Steam warmed her face, licked her bare skin.
“You’re late.” One of her white towels covered Wolffe’s lower half—tiny around his waist—and he looked down at her, amusement breaking through his practiced composure.
“You showered too fast,” Kazi said.
“Yeah.” His hands bracketed her jaw; his face lowered to hers. “I won’t make that mistake again.”
Soft lips were on hers, and Kazi ran her hands up his chest, still damp, delectably warm, wrapping her arms around his neck. Wolffe groaned against her mouth. Tangled his fingers in her hair. Gripped her waist and stroked her spine.
The heat of his hand to her bare skin, the softness of his touches compared to the desperation in his kiss, the way he held her and touched her, sparked her body to life. Need throbbed in her clit, and gods, she needed something—needed him.
Mouthing beneath her jawline, Wolffe rasped, “Tell me what you want.”
Her thighs hit her bed and she didn’t resist as Wolffe lowered her. As his forearms surrounded her head and his toweled lower half settled between her legs.
“To feel something,” Kazi said. Water dewed his curls and she rested a palm against his chest, basked in the hard, rapid beat of his heart.
He leaned back, just slightly, and let his gaze wander the length of her body. His pupils dilated, the dark brown of his eye and silver of his cybernetic giving way to black. A shiver breathed down her spine, tightened in her nipples, and she could only lie there, appreciating the way he took her in, the same way she had seen him study the bioluminescent flora during their night swims: admiring.
One moment Wolffe was perusing her body, and the next, his mouth was on her breast.
Gasping, Kazi arched into him, clinging to his bicep. His mouth was hot and wet to her sensitive skin, and she ground her hips against him, desperate for any stimulation. Wolffe choked at the contact. His teeth grazed her nipple and—
“Oh gods,” she whimpered.
“This?” Wolffe flattened his tongue along the underside of her breast and licked to her nipple. “This good with you?”
She released a shaky exhale. “Yes.”
A large hand cupped her breast, and a calloused thumb scraped her nipple. She started to tremble. The clench in her cunt was hard, demanding, and she could only stare at her ceiling, trying to quiet her breathing, calm the racing beat of her heart.
And, fuck, she thought she might actually come from this—from him caressing her nipples, biting gently into her breasts. Her cunt fluttered at a particular scrape of his thumb, and she bit back a whimper.
A dazed look darkened his features as Wolffe focused on her breasts. She didn’t understand the appeal: Her breasts were small, small enough his hands easily engulfed them, and yet he seemed unable to look away. Unwilling to abandon them as he dragged a long lick across her nipple and sucked on it.
Panting, she gripped his shoulder, dug her fingernails into his skin, wavering between pushing him away because the sensation was overstimulating, or holding him closer, giving into the pleasure humming through her nerves and tightening her insides.
A finger brushed through her labia and she tensed, glancing between their bodies. Wolffe circled his finger around her cunt. Light, unhurried circles.
“This?” Wolffe asked. His eyes were on hers, and the dark brown swirled, drunken with desire. “This good with you?”
“No sex,” she whispered hoarsely. Her labia were so sensitive from his circling, and she swallowed a rising moan. “I can’t—”
“I understand.” Wolffe tapped her cunt and she could feel her arousal slickening him. “But this? Can I fuck you with my fingers?”
“Yes.”
“What about my tongue?” He licked along her breast again, nipping at her nipple. She shuddered beneath him. “Can I taste you?”
“Wolffe.” Need buzzed beneath her skin, burned in her blood, and she was so fucking sensitive, so desperate for any touch between her legs or her nipples, but he needed to know, first: “I take so long—”
“Good.” He removed his hand, and her hips jerked their protest, her legs trembling with restraint. Satisfaction carved a smile on his face. “I’ve been wanting this for a long time, Kazi. Take your time. I’ll enjoy it.”
Before she could dissuade him, Wolffe was kneeling between her thighs, and he was propping one of her legs on his shoulder; and all she could do was watch, her nipples tingling and her clit aching, shaking with want as Wolffe breathed her in. As he flattened the head of his tongue to her cunt. He licked her.
Pleasure swelled deep inside her and her head fell back. Another slow lick followed and Wolffe groaned against her. The noise was low, guttural, and she gasped, bucking against his mouth. His hands flexed around her thighs, holding her open, restraining her against the bed.
Sweat thickened the heat beneath her skin and she panted harder; her blood ran fast and hot. Wolffe traced her labia, the tip of his tongue so light it tickled, and then he was sucking her clit, his pleased groans rumbling against her.
Breathy, uncontrollable moans hissed between her teeth. A finger circled her cunt once. Twice. It pushed into her and her hips jerked.
“Wolffe.” Kazi lifted her hips, a silent demand for more, but Wolffe kept his strokes languid, his finger curling upwards and massaging such a sensitive spot she fisted her sheets harder and groaned.
A second finger slid inside, and she whimpered at the pressure, at the stretch of his fingers. It was so much; more than her own fingers.
“Fuck, you’re tight,” Wolffe hissed, stilling his fingers inside her. His eyes snapped to her face. “Am I hurting you?”
Breathing through her nose, she shook her head, blinking dazedly at the ceiling. “It’s just…a lot.”
Wet heat encased her clit the moment Wolffe’s two fingers massaged her upper wall. Massaged a spot that had her panting “More, please more” and her hips gyrating against his face.
Tightness coiled in her lower stomach, and the muscles in her legs bunched. She was shaking; her fingers were curled desperately in her sheets. Her breathy exhales were moans, and the pressure inside her bordered pain.
Wolffe sucked on her clit harder; he curled his fingers and rubbed that spot over and over and over. All of her tightened, and her legs stiffened, and she felt as fragile as thin glass—
She shattered.
Honeyed pleasure oozed through her blood, seeping into the cracks of her coiled muscles and soothing them. She was trembling, and she couldn’t move, left to blink at her ceiling as a wet tongue lapped at her, its strokes long, slow.
A sharp flare in her labia made her pull away. Wolffe gripped her thighs harder, his scowl displeased, but at her sharp look, he released her, gently lowering her leg from his shoulder.
A little tired, a little sore, Kazi lowered herself to the floor, leaned into Wolffe, and kissed him. He grunted against her mouth, seemingly surprised, but she didn’t bother to stop, pressing lackadaisical kisses to his jaw. Licking the muscled length of his neck. Basking in the way he held her weight as he panted against her ear.
It took her too long to realize he was fisting himself. Fisting and stroking his cock. She leaned back to watch him, beads of cum glistening his tip. It took her even longer to realize the wetness he was using to stroke himself was her own arousal—her own release. Wolffe met her gaze, his eyelids hooded.
Grazing her palm along his thigh, the muscles shivered beneath her touch, Kazi smiled, cupping his balls and squeezing.
“Fuck.” Wolffe’s forehead fell to her shoulder. His breaths grew ragged, pained.
“Show me,” she said, massaging his balls. “Show me how you like it.”
Roughly, he guided her hand to his base and fisted himself; the heat of his cock burned and her eyes widened in surprise. He tightened her grip and stroked. A groan warmed her neck.
“That’s it,” Wolffe rasped, using her hand to stroke himself faster. Harder. “Fuck, that’s it.”
Bracing a palm on the bed behind her, Wolffe hissed between his teeth, his hips jerking uncontrollably.
Kazi traced light, teasing circles to his inner thigh, kissed behind his ear and nipped at his earlobe. Wolffe choked. His body stilled. He bit into her shoulder, and then he was spilling onto their hands, onto his stomach. He rutted into her hand, his semen hot and thick, his moans low and hoarse.
As his thrusts eased and then stopped, Wolffe released her, his fingers trembling as they ran along her ribcage, like he was reassuring himself she was here. She was with him. Indolent kisses warmed her shoulder, soon followed by gentle licks to the mark he must have left.
Eventually they cleaned themselves and returned to her bed, still naked: soft brushes of fingers to skin, languid kisses to knotted muscles. At one point, Kazi laid atop Wolffe, her cheek nestled to his chest, his hands slowly tracing the knots of her spine.
“This,” he murmured, grazing the center of her back, “I’ve been thinking about.”
Trailing a finger along his own scars, she smiled. The line-drawn dragon tattoo was tiny and simple, her sole tattoo.
“Any significance?” he asked.
“I got it as a reminder,” she said. “That the only person whose got my back is myself.”
Pensive silence enveloped Wolffe as he continued stroking her spine, like he was counting each dent. Soon, though, those wandering hands shifted to her hips, her ass, her ribcage. Curious, lackadaisical touches ensued. Kazi wasn’t any better: feeling his scars, the tightness in his muscles, the fat toning his body.
They were clay, formed from stardust and molded into individuals: to be appreciated, revered.
Later, the moons casting her bedroom in a bluish tinge, Kazi scanned Wolffe’s side-profile.
“You can smell my soap? From feet away?” she said, disbelievingly. “Even after a couple of hours?”
“Yeah. And when I’m close to you, like this”—he gestured between their bodies—“I can smell you.”
Her eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”
“I can smell when you’re bleeding.” A nonchalant shrug succeeded her appalled blink. “And when you’re aroused.”
“No, you can’t,” she whispered.
“I can.” Amusement was woven into his frankness. “We were engineered to be exceptional.”
“Huh. I don’t know if I’m impressed or mortified,” she said. Wolffe chuckled, and she smiled, brushing her nose to his shoulder. “So, enhanced smell, sight, and hearing. What about taste?”
A devious glint darkened his eyes, and he edged closer, playing with a strand of her hair.
“You taste”—a wet tongue licked the length of her throat and Kazi gasped; Wolffe pulled back—“divine.”
Laughing, she tried to shove him away, but he resisted, grinning down at her.
“Divine?” she said, scoffing. “All you tasted was my body oil.”
“I was talking about your cunt,” he drawled, smirking at her exasperated shake of her head. Returning his face to her neck, he kissed just beneath her jaw and murmured, so quietly she wasn’t sure she was meant to hear it, “I won’t ever get enough of you.”
Minutes later, with Wolffe sucking on her collarbone in a way she knew he had no intention of stopping anytime soon, Kazi glanced at the chrono on her nightstand. She grimaced.
“Wolffe.” He grunted his acknowledgement. “I’m tired.”
“Mm-hmm.”
“I’m gonna go to sleep.”
He lifted his head. “You kicking me out, Ennari?”
A tiny, glowing fist pounded against her chest but she ignored it. If she asked him to stay, then she would grow accustomed to his presence. Rely on it. On him. And what if…
Rubbing her chest, she offered him an apologetic wince. “I don’t think I’m ready.”
Understanding gentled his expression, and he inclined his head, reaching for his trousers, forgoing his long-sleeve.
At her door, Kazi pressed a swift kiss to his cheek. “Thank you for dinner and for…”
“The orgasm?” he supplied.
“Good night,” she said, unable to stifle her smile.
Amusement crinkled his eyes and he tapped the underside of her chin. “Sleep well, Kazi.”

The artwork has no relation to Star Wars, but I stumbled across it one day and it reminded me of the scene in this chapter. Please enjoy. (Again, if you view it, please reblog it. Liking a post on Tumblr without reblogging does nothing to support the artist.)

Me: sees your ask button is open again
🌈RAINBOWS!🌈
Sorry, got a little too excited 😄
Anyways, just wanted to say hi 👋! Hope you're doing OK! If you are, then I'm about to help you feel even better!
You know how Shiny would call Greasy a green bean or jellybean? I call Stupid a sweet potato 🥔 pretty much all the time (because he IS a potato 🥔 😊), then I started imagining the other three weasels as fruits.
Smartass: strawberry 🍓
Psycho: pineapple 🍍
Wheezy: Blue Java banana 🍌 💙
Yes, blue bananas exist. And so do purple, red, pink and black bananas.
Just thought I'd make you smile 😁
My POV when I saw this ask 👆
When i told you my inbox was open again, i swear I thought I had opened them up! I was scrolling through my blog and I looked at my inbox "Huh, it's closed... SHY-NIGHTMARE!"
(I'm serious, I got worried because I remembered you said you wanted to send me stuff or something, and I got worried you thought I was mad at you or tricking you 😣😣😣 I'm sorry if you felt that way!)
I hope you're doing OK too! ^^ me? Ah... The real world really knows how to suck. Let's just leave it at that 😅
Awwww 🥹🥹🥹🥹 omg now I'm picturing you or Shiny calling Greasy Green Bean, and then Stupid pipes up all confused like "Nooo we're not food!" // "It's just a nickname, Stu." // "Oh... What food am I though?" And that's what led to everyone in the house getting a produce nickname XD ^^ I vote Shiny's nickname be Cherry 🍒 and Poppy's nickname is Peach 🍑 Shiny and Cherries are both classic, and Poppy and Peaches are both small and fuzzy sweet things XD what about your OC's? ^^
And... I gotta be honest, I thought you were joking about the bananas. One quick Google search, and oh my lord O_O I wanna make a banana salad with all the bananas there are in the world.
Thank you for sending me this ask! I'm slowly but surely making my way through my inbox and notifications 😅😅😅

(part 1 of 2)
🔙 Chapter beginning ⬅ Previous chapter • Next part ➡ 📝 About the story and characters
The whole chapter (with bigger pictures!) can be found on Blogger already ;) Check the Blogger post for a short recap too.
"Parenting is finally getting easier. The first six months were challenging, every day felt a thousand hours long. Now she's not crying that much and we can actually go to places and…"
River knew close to nothing about parenting but patiently listened to Sara's venting. She believed she owed her that after rejecting her as a romantic partner — even though River had said they would have not future together.
They had gone for a walk a few times and it had started to become a weekly routine. "And before you say I should ask for help," Sara said, "I have asked and Kody has helped a lot but ultimately, I'm alone. With Bayu of course, but you know what I mean."
"I… guess," River said. Sara seemed ready to change subjects so River asked: "What are your plans about school?" "I'll go back. I'm still not 100% certain if dentistry is my thing but I have no other ideas, so… Not until next year, though. I want Maya to be a little older before daycare."
"Understandable," River said even though she knew nothing about babies in daycare. Sara smirked. "Nice of you to listen to me babbling about parenting. I know it can't be your favourite subject but it sure is nice to vent. Maya isn't much of a conversational partner yet. Thank you."
"Hey I'm always interested in listening to my friends! Whatever the subject!" "In that case… I do have another thing on my mind."
Sara dug her phone out and opened the browser. "Check this out," she said after navigating to a certain news site. "Some theatre critic has visited The Bats's rehearsal."
River quickly scanned the article to find the worrying part. For two long paragraphs, the critic had wondered if hiring Harrison Stacks to direct the musical was a risk worth taking. Some of his work had been astounding flops. This was neither new nor worrisome for River; her father's reputation as a wild card was well-known. It was the next paragraph about the actors that had made Sara uneasy.
The leading actors (Bayu Wardhana and Jaylah Ortega) have impeccable chemistry, the article read. Watching them embrace each other and sing about love, I felt I was interrupting an actual couple getting ready for bed — if you know what I mean. It was so intense it was almost umcomfortable... I felt warm and fuzzy inside — and I don't mean in my heart! If the whole musical is like this, I'm going to see it multiple times!
"Hmmmm… Have you asked him about this?" "He says it's just a job. That Jaylah is just a colleague and that I should be proud of him being so good at his job. I mean, of course I am. And I know he is truly charming and charismatic, I wouldn't be here pushing a pram if he wasn't…" Sara sighed. "But… I don't know…"
River hadn't realised Sara cared about Bayu so much. She had thought they had only an arrangement to give Maya a stable family, not a true romantic relationship. Maybe that had been the case at the beginning but Sara was quick to fall in love. River wondered if Bayu was on the same page.
River wasn't sure of what to say. Her sister Brook was working in the production as the head makeup designer. When asked about the musical, Brook had fussed about how sweet Bayu was, always giving compliments, and how he was liked by everyone. And he was cute for someone so short (Brook's words!). River wasn't going to repeat her report. "Brook works on the production, remember? She would tell me if there's anything to know. She couldn't resist spilling the beans."
Sara sighed again. "I must have been overreacting. I'll try to focus on other things." River knew how hard it was to not think about something bothersome. In that morning, her hands had felt… different. Like she couldn't fully control them. She shuddered.
Sara's phone vibrated demandingly. "Ugh, it's mom. She has tried to call me many times already, I'll need to take this."
And immediately, Little Maya was awake. She wasn't happy about it. "Wah! Wah! WAAAAAAH!" Sara let out a hopeless sigh. "Could you hold her? This shouldn't take long."
River gulped. Her hands did still feel shaky but it wasn't something she felt like sharing. "I… I think I might have a cold coming. I shouldn't touch her…" Sara looked her suspiciously and River coughed. "Fine. Can you at least rock the pram and talk to her?" "…Sure."
"Yes, mom? You indeed hear Maya crying. No, a friend is looking after her. Well, she's trying her best." Sara walked further and River couldn't hear her over Maya's cries.
"There there, little one, look how beautiful and blue the sky is." But Maya wasn't interested in watching the sky.
"Hey now, I'll buy you ice cream," River tried and Maya's crying toned down a bit. "When you'll get older, of course. Your mum wouldn't probably appreciate me getting you ice cream now... Anyway, in the future, you'll get the biggest sundae, any flavour you want, with whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce... A shiny tiny umbrella on it..."
She came up with a dozen more toppings and Maya fell asleep again. "Good one, River, no child can resist ice cream," River whispered to herself. "How does Sara do this all day every day? Mothers are really something."
Notes: I think I have wondered which language Kody and Sara talk with their mom in some previous chapter's notes but I can't remember to what conclusion I came (I should write stuff like this down...). Maybe Sim!Japanese because even though she was born in Sulani, she sort of detests the place. Thinks it's not classy enough for her 🙄

A lovely man
Tauriel said SHE wanted to paint Kili nude. She never mentioned six other she elves. Or that it would end in a heart stopping orgasm. Kili is just such a good boy, he deserves a reward.
(No actual sex only fingering.)
“Tauriel! You didn’t say other girls were gonna be here! I can’t let them see-“ Kili said as he slammed the door shut behind him. He was only wearing a pair of boxers and a hoodie… he didn’t even want them to see him in THAT!
Tauriel had asked him to come by the drawing studio and model for her. He’s done it before when she needed a visual for something, the motion in clothing AKA. Kili twirling in a floofy skirt for two hours, or the way a hand looks holding an apple or other fruits and items. But never had she ever asked to draw him in the studio. Sure he’d seen the sketch she’d done of him she’d based off an old photo but she’d never drawn him like this.
Sure he trusts the elf with his entire life. Trusts her with his emotions and physical needs and all his deep dark secrets.
However he doesn’t trust the six other she-elves sitting around with their charcoal and brushes and paint and their stupidly intricate carved easels.
“Sweetheart, they want to draw you so much! We’re working on the movement and direction of body hair. You’ve got a nice hairy face and your chest and your legs. You’re just the perfect subject, my fuzzy little dumpling. It’ll be okay.” Tauriel tried to persuade.
She’d shared all the sketches in her sketch book of the dwarf to her friends and they thought he was amazing. Beautiful, they called him, and they were curious to see a dwarf in the buff. She’d shown them the sketches she’d done of him working and coming back from the jewelry shop and of course the sketches she’d done of him pleasuring himself. She had a wonderful memory and got to see him do each motion nearly everyday, they were rather wonderful drawings.
They already knew what they were going to be painting.
Kili was blushing darker than cherries.
“But I don’t want the pretty girls to see my… my stuff.” Kili whispered and flashed his eyes back to the solid door. He didn’t want someone to walk in and see him. See his parts.
He’d met some of Tauriel’s friends before. They were nice and tall and really really pretty to him. All milky soft skin and quick wit and charm. He likes the elf girls, who could blame him?
“Your stuff?” Tauriel asked, acting dumbly, she tilted her head and batted her eyelashes. Acting dumb always made Kili realize when he was being illogical. Having to explain why usually got her, her way.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about! What if they laugh?” Kili said self consciously and wrapped an arm around himself to cover his chest. It took so long to even let Tauriel see him shirtless...
Tauriel shrugged, nudging Kili to stand in the hallway. She pulled the door open and stood between the room and Kili.
“Hey guys, will you laugh at Kili’s genitals or breasts?” Tauriel asked loudly, the question almost echoed down the thankfully empty hallway. Kili looked shocked for a second before turning red from his forehead to his collarbones.
“Um no” “Nope!” “Never!” They answered scatteredly. Their sing-song voices sounded so sincere, so true and caring just as Tauriel always sounded when she spoke to him. He couldn’t help but let his heart melt a bit, agreement already glazing over his tongue.
“See they won’t. Now up on the table, my sweet little bean sprout!” Tauriel said as she walked into the windowless room. The walls were solid and a dark brown color, the ceiling had bright lights and each girl had a lamp clipped to her esel. Tauriel motioned toward the table covered with a white sheet in the middle of the room.
Kili glared at the table for a long minute before staring at his lover intently. He knew that she would never put him in a situation that was dangerous or that would embarrass him or put him between a rock and the closet doors.
“You owe me big time.” Kili said and put on his best angry face. He swallowed thickly before walking to the middle of the room. His hoodie hung down past the edge of his boxer shorts, giving a small sense of security. ‘ Nude painting’ She had said. Nude… Kili felt his nerves scratch at his throat.
The girls smiled kindly and waved at him. Tauriel sat down at her spot and watched him. Something dominant and fiery and loving flashes in her eyes. The way the emeralds she stored away in her eyes caught the bright lights of the studio made Kili feel something safe and warm deep in his stomach. It was okay. Tauriel was here and all these girls, these girls are his friends. They know him, they know Tauriel, they wanted to see him, to appreciate him.
Kili turned toward the wall and pulled off his hoodie and breathed. He took big deep breaths, in through his nose and out through his mouth. He looked down at himself.
Sure he didn’t have big breasts, they looked more like fat on his pecs but his nipples were big and they jiggled and he didn't like it but he swallowed and turned around, keeping his eyes down. It was hard to look at so many perfect people, as he thought almost all elves he’s ever seen are perfectly perfect, when his most embarrassing part was exposed. He was just about to hop up on the table when Tauriel spoke and walked toward him.
She walked elegantly over to him and leaned her hip on the tabletop a few feet from him. She thought he looked too cute for his own good. All blush pink and fluffed up like a surprised kitten.
“Shuck trou too honey. I’ll help you get in the right position.” She said like it was nothing. Her voice was calm and quiet, soothing the nervous itch that was crawling around his throat.
Kili cleared his throat. And nodded. This… wasn’t photography. They… weren’t there to see him as a toy or something that is disposable. They all know how much Tauriel loves him and how protective and… possessive she is of him.
Kili put his hands on the waist of his boxers, took a deep breath and pushed them over his hips and let them fall to the floor.
Bare.
They were seeing him bare.
Bare feet, bare chest, bare groin.
He felt the cold air hit his soft tender flesh that mounded between his thick hairy thighs and he shivered.
Kili felt dazed until a feather light hand touched his lower back.
He knew it immediately.
Tauriel his rock, his anchor, his safest place.
“Up now Kili and I’ll position you. I’ll make sure to give a good reward, my dumpling boy.” Tauriel teased as she patted Kili’s stomach. He’d been gradually putting on pounds over the past few years since he started dating Tauriel and being engaged to her.
It made him smile and relax. The anxiety flowing away from him. She always said he looked so cute, so soft and wonderful.
Kili put his back to the table and lifted his butt up to sit on the edge. He felt very self conscious at that moment. He felt his butt squish against the hard surface. He heard whispering and instantly thoughts of ‘ Am I too fat? Are they laughing at me? Do they think I’m ugly? Are they talking about my freckles? Do they think I’m too dense? Am I too hairy? Do I look gross? ’ flowed into his mind like a tidal wave.
But as soon as Tauriel’s hand covered his shoulder, he let out a breath and relaxed. He rolled his shoulder under her warm hand and she rubbed and massaged gently.
“Okay now we agreed on like number six right? Was it six or two?” Tauriel asked the others. She looked at the chart they had made of ten different positions.
Two was laying on his back with his arms stretched above his head with his knees bent and feet flat on the floor with his legs spread wide. Six was laying on his side with his head resting on his fist with one leg straight and the other bent up.
Both were very embarrassing but Kili had a feeling there would be no rest from the embarrassment.
“Two. Since it’s easier to hold and he hasn’t posed for long periods yet.” One of the girls said as they all got ready. Tauriel nodded and waited for Kili to scoot to the center of the table. She shoved and pulled at his thigh and ankle as he maneuvered to sit long ways on the oblong table.
“On your back, feet flat, arms up.” Tauriel said and Kili tried to do what he was told. Tauriel's hands guided him into position. His arms were laying flat on the table above his head, slightly bent, and his feet were flat and spread wide and his knees were up in the air. He felt a bit strange having his breasts balanced on his chest just out in the open.
“This is embarrassing.” Kili mumbled and looked away from the girls now studying him. Their eyes danced and flashed around his body, head to toe. Tauriel hummed and sat down after patting his hip.
“I’ll let you sit in my lap and eat ice cream while I do budgeting all next week.” Tauriel said.
Kili felt a spark in his chest. That was the best. Sitting in Tauriel's lap when she works is always good. She always lets him sit on her strap while she works from home. And ice cream??? Hell yes .
“Deal. I’m just gonna pretend I have clothes on and no ones looking at me.” Kili said and closed his eyes.
He was almost dozing when he started hearing the chit chat.
“Does he comb only his face? His chest hair looks so… tamed.” A deeper voice said in a quiet whisper.
“That’s just how it all lies.” Tauriel said back with a pitch of pride to her explanation.
“The textures are so different from place to place.” One said and Kili thought she sat toward the center. Near his ribcage.
“See, it's like radial.”An elf sitting on the end near his feet said.
“I think it’s more random.” The girl next to her countered.
“Oh no, there on his genitals, it’s radial.” Said the first girl.
“I don’t see it” said the second in confusion and intrigue.
“Do you mind if I get a closer look? I want to explain.” The first asked. She didn’t direct it toward Kili, who still had his eyes closed.
“No go ahead.” Tauriel answered.
It made Kili blush and take a quick breath in. They spoke about him as if he was a marble statue. Her marble statue.
“No but, look, see right there, oh come on. Right here, see it moves out here but down here. Like a radial pattern ya know.” A girl’s voice rang out closer and closer with each word. Soon there was shifting air between his spread thighs.
“Ohhh yeah, I see that. And it gets thicker toward the centers. Like the armpit and the mouth.” Said the girl who was still at her easel.
“It’s corser too. Thicker hairs.” He heard and felt a breath on his knee.
Kili opens his eyes to see one of the darker haired elves standing between his knees pointing at his vagina with the end of her pencil. He stared at her for a moment before she looked up and smiled at him, before looking back down in concentration.
“It is similar to how it’s thicker around his mouth. But that’s not radial this is.” She said before walking back to her seat. Kili was blushing heavily then and was very aware of how cold his skin was down there and how exposed he felt. But when he saw Tauriel’s soft smirk he relaxed again. It’s okay .
Eventually he got drowsy again and let his eyes close again.
He only woke up when his stomach growled. The girls giggled at that.
“Tauriel, I'm hungry.” He whined out and pouted dramatically, well as dramatically as he could without moving.
“Do you want me to feed you a few nutter butters?” The redhead asked and looked at the snacks that piled on the extra desk. Kili was fond of peanut butter. Well he was fond of licking and sucking it off her strap, on special occasions.
“… yes.” He said as his mind went to the same place. His cheeks pinked back up and he wanted to close his knees.
Tauriel fed him a few before he sighed and closed his eyes again. She dusted the crumbs from his stubble and booped his nose before sitting back down.
“Taurielllll I’m bored~” Kili whined and flexed his toes and hands. He’d napped for nearly half an hour, he’d been laying here for who knows how long!
“Here. Put in my headphones. What do you wanna, don’t move, what do you wanna listen too?” Tauriel said as she pulled out her wireless earbuds and put them in Kili’s ears. He blew out a breath as she recovered his ears with his fluffy clean hair.
“Ugh just out in some music. I'm ‘bout ready to fall asleep again anyway.” Kili mumbled and yawned largely. A few girls giggled at him and he closed his eyes.
“Okay darling, take a nice nap.” Tauriel whispered and bent down to press a small, quick kiss to his forehead. That of course incited a few little ‘aw’s.
Tauriel soon placed a thin slip of fabric over his eyes, it was her scarf, when Kili complained the lights were too bright.
“Uh ah oh t-Tauriel? Is everyone gone? Oh oh was I good? Was I a good boy? Is this my reward? Oh I like when you touch my legs!” Kili panted and whimpered, questioning as Tauriel ran her thin hands up and down his inner thighs. She scratched lightly, saying yes darling you were good without breathing a word to him.
Her hands felt so warm and soft and lovely against his sensitive skin. She loved to pet and tease his thick strong hairy legs. His legs jiggled and shook as his hole clenched over and over again. There was a warm flood stirring deep in his gut, slowly dampening his most inner flesh, his labia turning a lovely darker shade and plumping up.
Kili wiggled and bucked as she continued to rub her hands around his hips and thighs. He had slept a bit heavily and her hands made his brain feel all jelly and stress free. The calm instrumental music was still playing in his ears.
Tauriel was smiling widely as she ran her pointer finger nails down the crease of his thigh slowly. Kili gasped and moaned. A shiver crept down his body and a shine of his slick peaked from his exposed hole. His tender flesh growing beautiful, rosy and damp.
“See he’s so vocal and watch how his hips lift.” One of the girls said with an aw to her voice. She thought Kili looked so cute.
Kili grabbed onto his own hair, Tauriel never let him touch himself when she decided to tease him.
“Ohhhh! Pet me pet me pet me!” Kili cried as Tauriel ran a single finger over one side of his labia. His hole visibly throbbed and opened greedily, trying to pull something in, trying to pull her in deep.
“Aw he’s trying to get closer but also get away.” Another girl said as she watched the small man whimper and push his hips toward his love.
“Tauriel! Tauriel! Please please please! Touch my insides! Touch me inside!” Kili begged. His brain was so fogged.
He wasn’t anywhere, there was nothing happening around him, there was only Tauriel. The song flowing in his head was focused and had low bass, the thin light green cloth of her scarf around his eyes let in light and shadows but he couldn’t make out her shape. His heart thrummed quickly in his chest and his palms felt sweaty and when Tauriel simply placed her hand over, covering his pussy completely from prying eyes, Kili felt a gush of his own slick dribbled down between his hot folds.
“Tauriel, please hold me.” Kili whimpered quietly and sincerely. He reached out his arms, toward where he could feel the heat rolling off her body.
Tauriel smiled and sat down, criss-cross, on the table and pulled Kili so he was kneeling over her lap. The scarf fell from his eyes but as he blinked away the spots he was only met with the wall.
He nuzzled into her chest and collarbones. The smell of her skin, lightly spattered with fumes of charcoal and paint, calmed him and made him bring his hands to sit clasped together on the small of her back.
Tauriel petted down from the back of his head down to his bottom. She squeezed the tender soft cheeks for a moment before moving her hands to rest on his hips.
The comments coasted around her. “Aw, so obedient.”, “What a polite little thing!”, “So how it’s dripping down from him…” , “Look how perky his nipples are! Tauriel aren’t you going to give him some attention?” , “Does he always ask like that?”.
“Yes, he’s always my sweet, obedient, little dumpling boy. He’ll get what he needs soon enough. I think he’s too wired up for much, sorry girls.” Tauriel responds as she runs her hands up and down his thighs a few times.
“Please? Please Tauriel! It feels so heavy inside. You said I would get a reward, I wanna cum please.” Kili whimpered and begged out. He wiggled and gyrated his hips down when Tauriel placed her open palm across his vulva.
She used one hand to guide his to her hips, and the other to press on his mound.
He held on as tight as he could onto her green painter's apron, knuckles turning white as he let out little huffs and “ah”s and quiet moans.
She moved so two of her fingers rubbed around his entrance. The wetness coated her fingertips and he relaxed onto her. All his weight rested on her chest.
He rather enjoyed this position. He liked the way her breasts squished onto his collarbones. Her neck was right there for him to kiss and mouth at gently, which he did lazily. The way she slowly breached him on her fingers was all too familiar, and all too wonderful.
“Please, please, please, please just touch me. Rub it, please rub it!” Kili cried out as Tauriel crooked her fingers, rubbing at Kili’s small G-spot. She could do this blindfolded, she knew his body better than anyone else. She knew what he wanted.
Tauriel moved her hand from where it was rubbing between his shoulder blades down to his front. She used her thumb to pull up the small hood that covered his hard little ‘prick’.
Kili let out a loud moan and rutted his hips forward and Tauriel giggled.
“He likes this part. Watch, it won’t take him anything till he starts shaking. He’ll shake,” Tauriel said, a smile wide on her face as she gently rubbed around Kili’s hard red clit.
Kili of course screamed and clung impossibly closer to his love’s body. His thighs started to shake and he ground down on the fingers that were easily sliding in and out of his shallow little hole.
Tauriel rubbed a little fast on his prick before kissing the top of his head. That was all Kili needed.
“Oh? Usually it takes him at least three fingers to cum but he’s already clenching down.” Tauriel said in amusement. They must be itching at a new kink.
Kili was crying big wet tears down his face onto Tauriel’s dress and skin as she rubbed quickly at his prick and stimulated that special place in his hole.
“Please, please, please, please-” Kili begged feverishly and rutted and wiggled. He never knew how to handle himself when Tauriel fingered him. He shook and thrashed and in an instant his orgasm was hitting him.
Kili let out a deep howl and shook. Every muscle was pulled like a bowstring in his body as thick cum washed down Tauriel’s hand.
As the shaking lessened and the death grip on her fingers loosened she slipped them out and rubbed his hip with her more dry hand.
Unknown to him, Tauriel showed off her drenched fingers to the group. Soon a moist towel was handed to her. One girl came and took his headphones out and another girl picked up his discarded clothing and set it on the table edge for him.
Kili laid like a puddle of puddy against Tauriel's chest as she wiped him down. Nothing mattered, nothing was real.
“So precious my little dumpling, you were so precious. You should see our works when you decide to come back to earth.” Tauriel whispered to him. Everyone else picked up their supplies, leaving their works on their easels to dry. They soon all left, leaving Kili panting and nearly asleep.
“Do ‘still get ice cream?” Kili said as he peeled his head away from the soft skin of Tauriel’s collar bones.
“Yes my dove, you get all the rewards.” She told him, a goofy smile splashing onto his face.

🎲 for Piercentyre! -ypq
I need you to know I got so excited to see the boys and then this is what I generated.
Randomizer is a bigger fan than all of us. Anyway, you get a kiss on the forehead, hell YEAH, let's DO IT! Kiss Roulette
"Yo." As John strolls into the Swamp, he tosses the football he'd been carrying vaguely to the side.
As he probably should've anticipated, it beans Hawk in the head. "Hey!" Without another hesitation, Hawkeye grabs his pillow and chucks it at John.
He knocks it away with a grin, then drops onto his own cot. "Lemme borrow your razor."
"Go shave with this morning's toast," Hawkeye fires back.
Okay, so maybe the football had been a bad idea if he wanted a favor, but it's not like John can help himself. There's something about antagonizing Hawkeye just that little bit that brightens a part of John. It's similar to the good old days of paling around with his football team in college, even the harmless pranks they'd pick on each other with in medical school.
It's kinda different with Hawk. Sweeter on his tongue. But he doesn't have time to worry about that.
"C'mon, c'mon, I'm on a schedule right now. I got a date in, like, half an hour. If I don't grab a shower real quick, I'm gonna be late."
Hawk sends him a look. He's not placated. Not yet. Little shit. He grabs the most recent issue of Frolicking Nudists, flips it open, and starts reading. "Frank'll loan you his."
"Pretty sure human hair and ferret hair doesn't work the same. It won't do a thing."
"Then I hope Ginger likes stubble burn."
"Hawk, just for five minutes. You're not even using it right now," John points out. "What's the big deal?"
Hawkeye goes quiet for a long moment, and really that should put John on higher alert than it does, but he's also leaning back on his cot in one long, languid line, and John's gaze goes a little fuzzy just in time for Hawk to speak up with a very calm, "Okay, so suck me off, and you can borrow it."
He might as well be asking John to support Hawk's bid to become a Republican senator. "Say that again?"
"Suck. Me. Off." Hawk drops one foot to the ground, his boot making it land with a heavy thud, and the effect makes his legs sprawl wide open, lean thighs leading in a perfect V to his...
John shakes his head, clearing the onset of cobwebs in his skull. "Ha-ha, very funny."
"What's funny is that you think I'm kidding." Hawk flips to the next page of his magazine, then turns it on its side so he can fully open the centerfold. He lets out a low whistle. "I'm 0 for 5 with nurses this week, Trap. If I don't get something, I'll probably burn up into a fucking crisp."
"Is that how it works?" John bats back immediately, trying to ignore the heat in his cheeks. "You don't get lucky, your blood boils so hot that you burst into flames?"
"Something like that," Hawk drawls. He glances over the top of the magazine, and though John can only see his eyes, he knows what it means when they crinkle at the edges. "Ohh, you look like you might know a little something about it. What's the matter? Getting a little flushed, big guy?"
"Shut up." John scoffs and shakes his head. "It's fucking hot out, c'mon."
"Uh-huh." He sounds the furthest from convinced he can possibly be. When Hawkeye disappears behind the nudie mag again, he keeps talking. "Fine, fine. I'll settle for a kiss."
John flicks his tongue out, moistens his lips. "Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, sure. Consider it swallowing your pride. Crawling over, begging for mercy, all that."
"All I hear is you still tryin'a get me on my knees."
Hawk laughs. "You're gonna be thinking about nothing but that from here on out, aren't you? Wonder what Sidney would have to say."
Nothing that John hasn't spent years doing a tap dance over like a guy trying to kill a roach, but who just can't catch it.
He doesn't know if it's the war, the distance from anything sane, or just the magnetic fucking force of his pretty bunkie, but there's something about being here specifically that keeps blowing up that bonfire inside of him bigger than a billboard.
John rubs his sweaty palms on his fatigues, then shoves himself to his feet.
Immediately, Hawk drops the magazine to his chest, and they lock eyes. John's not sure how he manages to take these careful steps forward without his blood melting his veins and muscles all in one, but. Somehow. He does. One by fucking one.
He gets caught up in the minute shifts of Hawk's expression, how he goes from the earlier annoyance to neutrality, then uncertainty. Right when John's stopped at the very edge of his cot, there just a taste of something else. Vulnerability. It's in his eyes, big and blue and...and begging.
Jesus, Hawk, what the hell are we doing?
John comes down on one knee, hovers his hand awkwardly in the air, then smooths Hawk's feathery hair out of his face. For a second, he almost thinks he makes it up, but yeah, no, Hawkeye just let out the quietest, softest groan through those parted lips. How can he do that? How does he make it that easy, letting what he wants show so vividly in his gaze, in his voice? How is he not scared to fucking death right now?
John hesitates. A knot swells in his throat. And before he can change his mind, he leans in and leaves a lingering kiss on Hawk's forehead.
Hawkeye sucks in a shuddering breath. "Hold on a second."
"You didn't say where," John tries to whisper back, but it comes out as a ragged growl.
Hawk pins him right there with his stare, something that heats up until it's molten. But his jaw tightens just that little bit, and it tells John they've danced around this yet again.
"Never let it be said I'm not a man of my word," Hawk drawls as he rolls over, opens his trunk, and pulls out his shower kit. "Here."
"Thanks." John grabs the razor, then snags his robe and towel. "I'll bring it back when I'm done."
"Uh-huh."
John's almost fully out the door when Hawkeye calls after him. "There's a return fee too, y'know."
John rolls his eyes as he keeps walking. That flush in his face stays ruddy and hot.
