#CJ system problems

This has been my issue with the ACAB movement since the beginning and the want for total abolishment.

I work as a forensic consultant so I get to see the abuse of power frequently. But there’s also the caveat that the police and other letter agencies are the only ones with the authority, power, infrastructure, funding, training, resources, and (financial) obligation to do investigations and declare crime scenes.

A safety cooperative does not have the obligation to walk someone home or provide an escort. If they don’t have anyone on call or people just don’t want to then you’re out of luck. There’s no obligation there beyond social responsibility that maybe they’re not feeling that night. If you call the emergency service hot line and express real distress they will send an officer out to assist you and escort you home because that is their job. They are obligated to do so and paid to do so.

Getting paid to do a thing is still a huge motivator.

A safety cooperative also does not know what to do if they come across a homicide, let alone have the authority and resources to handle it and the subsequent investigation. Do they know how to secure the scene without messing it up? Do they have their own forensics lab to call on? Do they have personnel that will take samples, analyze them, then provide a report for investigators? Do they have investigators?!

The answer is no, they do not.

No investigation is being helmed by a civilian safety cooperative, let alone one that is done by people who have education and training in completely separate fields.

Don’t let Netflix docs or media tell you otherwise. For every “these neighbors figured out a crime when police couldn’t” story there’s a hundred instances of that hampering and impeding an investigation and causing problems.

Are there issues with the current police and criminal Justice system in our country? Yes. A 1000% yes. The entire thing needs to be reformed badly. But I am suspicious of anyone who focuses on one issue as a reason to abolish something without providing an ample and well thought out alternative to a major service that they are obligated to provide.

Honestly, one of the biggest frustrations with ACAB etc is the lack of other options. I absolutely avoid calling the police, but at the same time, there are things where we just don't have anyone else to call.

An old coworker was relentlessly hounded at work because she admitted calling 911 and having a squad car sent because someone was stalking her on her way home from work and threatening her. People were so mad that she called the cops, but none of the Fuck 12 Anarchists were offering to walk her home.

There was briefly a "AnarchoCommunist Queer Security/Safety Cooperative" who you could call... if they had anyone taking calls at the moment and if any of them were available/willing to come. If not, I guess just be willing to get jumped for their moral superiority?

Nico's Powers and Rick way of writing them.

Honestly,I've been wainting to write this.

We all know Nico powers:

Can manipulate the shadows and travel in them (Umbra-kinesis);

Can sense someone's death and soul;

Can summon ghosts and talk to them;

Can summon skeletons that obey to his orders and fight for him;

Can use dreams to send messages;

Can unconsciously split the ground and create cracks or Underworld's openings;

Can turn someone into a ghost and make them forgot their life and ability to speak;

Can turn someone into a skeleton;

Has influence on the dead and can evade them when he has to;

Can create earthquakes (not major ones like Percy);

Technically has Geo-kinesis powers too (like Hazel);

Can summon zombies to serve him;

Can conditionate the CJ's lares speaking ability by forcing them to shut up;

Can influence the dead ones with his mood;

Death-touch;

(If I missed some feel free to add)

Other than this,you need to remember that his title as Ghost King give him some more leverage,and his sword is an uniqueness in the world that give him the ability to suck someone's soul in it.

By only this list you can tell that Nico is extremely powerful,and he is still younger than Percy,with a weak physical body (depression and ED do some wonders to you-) and wasn't never "officially trained" like him since he wasn't around camp much. But he still pulled insane acts even without being 100% ok most of the time.

Nico powers,differently from Percy and Thalia,are extremely versatile. While those two can use whatever source or form of water/lightning to fight,they can't do much outside of their fathers's domains. And then you have Nico. Nico that can use his powers to travel around the world and sending messages with a mental link,other than use them to fight. People always talks about Percy controll over all types of liquid (even poison or the Underworld's rivers),but there is still water in them,so it's normal for him to do so. Thalia can use lightnings because it's normal for her to do so since those are Zeus's main sources of power. But Nico's powers are more than just controlling the dead,he can manipulate dreams (something that only the Hypnos cabin can do if I remember correctly) and can use geo-kinesis too,even tho not as much good or frequent as Hazel (before she started to work with her mist affinity). He can do it all.

I'm not trying to pull the "Nico is more powerful than Percy" argument here,but more focusing on Nico's versatility usage of his powers. And Rick made a mistake here with him,that he realized later and tried to minimize.

You see,when you have a powerscaling system,you usually take the main character as the "default": it's from them that you start to build it so other people can understand where others characters stand,compared to the MC,on the scale. Most of the time,people want their MC to grow stronger after every fight,starting from the bottom,untill they are the most powerful character in the story. It's a format done everywhere (anime,movie,comics,fanfic,books,ecc...) and Rick Riordan also used it with Percy. And when you have as MC the "most powerful character ever" (in this case the most powerful demigod since Heracles times),you need to be careful with your side characters,especially when the author doesn't want them to outshine the MC. For this reason,most of the time,they are either weaker than them or have extremely excessive drowbacks. A good example of this is Jason: Rick introduced him to us as the roman counterpart for Percy,but made us understand that he wasn't never at Percy level of power. And when you have a "side" character as Nico,adding to the fact that he's most of the time the wild card for their victories and always know everything,you have a big problem.

Riordan made it clear that no one (for now) can surpass Percy in term of abilities. But he still went out of his way making Nico's powers more versatile than the others. Logically,he should have been stronger than Percy,especially because death cannot be stoped and it's part of everyone life,but canonically it wasn't going to happen since the MC is Percy. Riordan realized in a second moment that his powers were too much and decided to make sure Nico was always held back by something from going full out (like Jason).

Nico is the only child of the big 3 that,if he use so much of his powers,has extremely horrible drowbacks even when he shouldn't. I could understand during MoA-BoO events in HoO,he was either dying or disappearing into the shadows because of his kidnapping and Tartarus,and still had an extremely draining task to finish. But from HoO to ToA there is a big timeskip (I think 6 months or more but I'm not so sure) where he should had all the time in the world to heal and having back full controll over his powers. But he doesn't. Nico still faint after shadow-travelling,even tho after his trip with the statue he should have been stronger and not having problems for a normal trip. Which sucks,especially when Rick most of the time make him pull some jaw-dropping power-play that give you the full picture on how strong he really is.

I don't think Percy had so many downgrades with his powers,I never saw him almost fainting from controlling the waters. He get tired,yes,but that's it. Thalia has more restrictions because of her fear,but I also never saw her having so many problems after using her powers (after she went with the Hunters we never see her in general anymore). Neither did Hazel with her geo-kinesis powers (before Rick decided to make her learn mist manipulation). Jason is a whole mess because he faint every day when he gets hit by a brick,even when he isn't fighting or using his powers (Rick didn't do him justice either). It's only Nico that has so many negative effects.

And the fandom can explain it,in a canon logic,with: "He's s still young,he will have time to grow stronger." (I agree) ;"He wasn't never in a good physical condition so it's normal that he has this many negative effects." (Even dying he was still able to curse someone to literally becoming a ghost) ; "He was malnourished and depressed,since he didn't take care of himself before he still have problems,wait for him to be healthy." (Again,even in those conditions he still pulled insane stunts). But,outside of the narrative,Riordan totally nerfed him because he realized that he wrote his powers too powerful and useful compared to Percy's,and since he couldn't have his MC outshined,he made sure to slow Nico in any way possible.

In BotL and TLO there are 2 scenes that,for a long time,I thought I was the only one to ever have read them since no one talked about them.

In the end of BotL when Percy get out of the Labyrinth and went with Rachel to see the coffin,Nico created an earth barrier (or something closer to it) to help them escape form Kronos's attack. He never did that after it,and I never saw people acknowledge that scene so I legitimately thought that I was imaginating it. Which was strange since it came right after the famous "Did you just throw a blue brush in the eye of the Titan Lord?" scene,but no. It really happened and Nico did use the earth at his liking. After that Riordan decided to never bought it up and Nico never manipulated the earth in that way (he still split the ground a couple of times) again.

In TLO after Nico went to free Percy from the dungeons,they escaped the palace and went to the Styx. During their escaping Nico glared at the guards,while growing weaker and weaker with each one,and they ignored them. Again,since I never saw someone talk about it I genuinely thought I was remembering things wrong. Especially because it was part of the whole "Betrayal" plot that everyone know. But again,it wasn't the case,Rick just decided to never bring it up again. It was the only time Nico did something like that. Someone can say "Well,those are the royal guards and their boss is his dad they would never go against him." but the guards were against Nico,if he didn't do whatever the fuck he did,they were going to tell Hades about their escape. So,again,Rick realized he gave him a powerful trick and then hoped that one one would remember it after he used it one time.

All of this shows that,even if he is good at writing certain things,when it comes to others topics (like power-scaling,Tartarus's trauma and many more) he just can't write well and try to put patches on the holes,without having success. But that's for another post that I will do.

Rick lack of continuation in his work,and he needs to decide what the hell he is going to do with Nico,because the guy himself is a contradiction that needs to be solved. And if I see someone else say that he is weak because he continue to faint,I'm gonna crash out very very very bad since it's Rick's fault. Nico has grown enough in his power to stand tall and use them without having majors problems (if he abuse them,then of course he is in big troubles). He isn't anymore the 13 years old kid that was dying during a world-ending trip after days of being captive by the enemy,and Riordan needs to acknowledge it and move on from that.

BARNACLES

Barnacles learned basic English as an extracurricular when he was younger, but he only really learned it (and gained the accent) when he went to university in Manitoba (polar bear capital of the world and the university works by, with, and for indigenous people with a lot of foreign people coming to study). he's got a similar thing with the speaking Russian and I'm gonna steal the specific language of inuktuk from you.

Also because the Arctic has so many different countries in it (although everyone in the Arctic considers themselves as just "the Arctic because wtf are u gonna do about borders? come through the snow storm and take me to another snowy white spot that looks exactly the same (to you) as the other snowy white spot I was in? FCK borders in the Arctic no one there gives a sht)

Anyways they do have a common sign language because I LOVE SIGN LANGUAGE AND WILL INSERT IT EVERYWHERE I CAN

KWAZII:

Kwazii did grow up with a very mixed pirate crew, although A LOT of members were either English speaking or Japanese speaking predominantly , he also watched a lot of old kids anime as a kid in Japanese as well lol. not to mention the native island cultures they often interacted with including my very fictional "meowri" (they're sphinx cats with ttattoes and very loosely inspired by Polynesian cultures)...

Because of the general culture of the pirate crew being diverse (esp cuz of interactions on ports/other crews) there was also a lot slang and terms that was known shared and sort of used as a basic communication system for everyone.

so there'd be random Spanish and Arabic terms from the most niche origin points just being used commonly, and that includes a lot of outdated ones, cultural sayings, or words that just don't exist in a lot of other languages, and etc

not to mention that because of how old the pirate clan he was a part of was (founded in 1920s) and because of the different crews there's genuinely like hundreds and hundreds of them being in these isolated communities and even being born and raised in them. so there's a lot of words that cant even be found anywhere else, so kwazii does get frustrated when he cant express what he wants to say but he just... cant even translate the word

OR the words everyone else uses for it doesn't make any sense! it... it kinda makes him feel stupid sometimes

also because his clan did work with a lot of wild animals as non tech sources of information (you feed them and then they get u good info!! for strategy, spying, whatever! and no one even blinks an eye cuz its just a crow (an extremely intelligent bird)!) but uh... the problem with that is that well alot of animals uhhhh misunderstand stuff

so that means that all the names of locations, descriptions of wild animals, ways of naming ships, and all the information would've have to have been animal comprehension friendly. not to mention be more coded cuz of non-friend pirate clans and G O V E R N M E N T S- so I'd get some wacky name replacements for all sorts of things.... its really a mess XD, a beautiful mess but still

also explained why so many of the pirate tales about *insert scientific name of the episode's animal* was often over exaggerated with strange details... including ones pirates shouldn't even known. Like how could they know about sword fish making the water around them warm?

its because a lot of that info CAME from the animals... animals who... don't understand numbers and say things like "and it was 20 feet tall!" even if it was only 5.... because it FEELS that tall to the small animal yk? also not understanding science on a deeper level so its all explained in a strange way. Ofc the pirates DONT help the issue because they be exaggerating the hell out of their own stories-

yeah sure the snake was "long as the river itself" Cj and SURE it was 20 sharks or whatever and not THREE that chased you kwazii

lying in story telling is just a form of pirate love actually, so is pranks and pickpocketing but kwazii refrains lol... this turned into me yapping about the blorbo

BASIC COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Speaking of the basic communication thing, the octonauts crew was trained on the main words for rescue related communication in more common languages like Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, etc and will take time to learn (or just refresh) before heading to a new location.

Because in my own au the communication abilities of the wildlife is a lot more limited based on their level of intelligence. so an orca would technically be bi lingual in their own orca language and be able to speak nearly identical to a humanoid person

also like I said before about sign language, BASIC PIRATE SIGNS THAT ONLY OTHER PIRATES KNOW AYYYYYYYYY

Australian Dashie my beloved<3 honestly she WOULD have learned several languages and learned more for/from her friends shes so capable and incredible fr. also FCK it MORE sign language! I headcanon shes CODA, which means you're the child of one or two parents who are both either hard of hearing or Deaf! so she actually was learning sign very VERY young from her mom <3 and well the rest of her family cuz they all knew it lol

peso is obviously bilingual and he's the BEST at the basic communications skills thing and most well versed cuz he deals with the most animals one on one, so he actually can communicate with pretty much all the animal creatures, even taking the time to learn some slang terms the animals might have learned so that they'll feel safer and more comfortable around him!

he also picks up on a lot of dialects especially since his cousins are so diverse

as for tweak she knows a lot of Spanish actually because hey! Miami has A LOT Spanish speakers, so much that's its actually made an entirely new developing dialect unique to the area!

tweak actually understands a decent amount of Japanese and Russian but.... not for normal conversations, more like because of all the engineering studying she did! research papers, studies, articles, lectures, books etc etc... so she could probably have a full conversation about the physics and math of submarines in those languages but if you wanted to talk about like... how you're feeling today or what you want for dinner she can not answer that LMSO

INKLING:

inkling would absolutely know like SO many languages, I have the headcanon that the reason he actually met barnacles in that university was actually because he studied LAND SPECIES for years (and continues to enjoy observing his crew and doing behavioural experiments on them without anyone noticing, esp since they're so diverse and they're in such a unique social environment on the octopod! but shhhh don't tell the others it would ruin the natural response they have! he does this with love btw)

hes also literally mega brained so I'd be surprised if he didn't at least understand the basics of any language the octonauts knew purely based on his own curiosity....

SHELLINGTON:

also because I headcanon Shellie as being a a mix of Eurasian otters and small clawed Asian otters, I think he does have some Philippine heritage and knows some Tagalog but not that much and he's a bit sad about that in all honesty. his *ss would also know latin

VEGIMALS:

IVE BEEN PLANNING TO MAKE A VEGIMALESE LANGUAGE POST:

ok so basically their language is entirely unique and not just because of them being the only known vegimals:

the thing is that their vocal cords (or vegetable/fish equivalent) isn't really made for the languages they hear on the octopod... or English.

the thing is they are their own little pod, and during their earliest developmental years they spent the MAJORITY of their time only with eachother or with shellington, what this means is that while some of the verbal and auditorial cues they have is just innate to vegimal understanding- (and also had difficult time replicating sounds shellington made, while it being easier to replicate a word one of the other vegimals made)

they quite literally made their own words for a lot of things while talking with eachother, before shellington had even realized! a lot of their language development did formulate very similarly to english (and Gaelic) because that's what they were hearing from shellington!

as they continue to grow and get older (they're really only about like 11 to me) their English has actually improved a lot, because they've learned how to mimic the others better, that's how they learned that the vegimals still used a lot of the literal baby talk words that shellington used with them while they were growing up, but just in their own original language

not to mention a lot of their language does have a lot of the meaning derived from the enunciation, tone, rhythm, and etc... so that means its a bit harder for those who just.. don't have the built in brain biology to distinguish those sounds to understand them

ofc shellington did literally raise them so its much much easier for him to understand because (whether he realizes it or not) he was actually learning the language AS they developed it! ofc over the years the other octonauts have actually started to subconsciously pick up on the meanings of those more subtle language features of vegimalese, and combined with knowing the vegimals slang/phrases, and the vegimals learning how to replicate more and more English ones, their understanding of the vegimals only keeps increasing

but to anyone else who isn't an octonaut its.... kinda like hearing a lil guy yip yip a bunch of gibberish and then everyone else in the room going "oh yes of course! that's a great idea Tototofrit! and don't worry, well make sure our fish friends aren't scared as we perform your very clever and crafty plan!"

also my friend said I can pull off a decent vegimal accent so if anyone wants any tips lmk (I would stim in vegimalese in middle school btw LMSO but I did learn a decent amount on how they pronounce things and their speech patterns... still working on perfecting it but I got some starter tips LOL)

also the reasons halibeet and pikato don't show up as much as the other vegimals is because they're just genuinely more introverted, halibeet and pikato do enjoy each other's quiet company tho (as well as the other vegimals, but they're really more homebodies who just aren't as into the whole adventure stuff)

It's me again, wardrobe anon, toggle anon. I duno complain about HA avatar anon? Call me whatever. Yo in my previous post complaining about how fem presenting avatars got shafted we got two awesome artists telling a bit about how it was working behind the scenes. I do really wanna say that I KNOW this isn't the artists fault. The artists have been working their hands raw trying to give CJ what he wants. And what he wants are absurd fully animated cash shop items.

Every artist I've vaguely talked to has all made efforts from the inside to try and get CJ to care about any of the basic things on the website and every time they aren't listened to. The reason this is a problem? Sloppiness mostly on his side, I'm not sure if he finally taught others to make additions to the wardrobe but when we first went into beta he was putting everything in himself.

Legit the wardrobe artists are all the real deal. This should all be fixable but the implementation of the HA system was sloppy, and I mean that from a one guy uploaded all the items into the new system on the day it went live kind of sloppy.. We alpha folk were supposed to clean things up but he just HAD to release the new system when beta released.

Oh BTW there used to be a news post talking about giving us more body types back when people complained about the breast thing, I think it must of been removed or buried because I've not seen it anymore.

Backup!Sans (Ink X Anti-Virus X Scrap)

Backup used to be more like ink in the past (after escaping his Au and ended up in the multiverse) but after experiencing some real threats and facing the consequences of his actions

he changed himself becoming more serious on protecting Au’s and not connecting with any of the people in the Au’s

Backup FUSE button can allow him to fuse with other people, but he NEVER wants to do that as he is afraid he will lose himself and change for the worse

Backup when he fell into this multiverse, passed through the system and gained what is simply called the “Moderator Key”, which in simple terms allows him to do certain things with Au’s without causing problems to the system

Backup created Protector!Kris out of loneliness but if you ask him, he would say he just needed the extra help

Tormentor made himself an Axe using the trunk of the tree after he destroyed it

He doesn’t actually need the axe and it provides nothing special he can’t already do

The only reason he uses it and carries it around is because it’s amusing using basically the corpse of Nim to bring despair to others (and eventually would use it to kill Savior)

Savior used the base on the tree to create the thing on his back (he didn’t do it intentionally)

Tormentor favorite person to torment is CJ (Corrupted Judge)

His actual favorite person is Defective because they are basically the same (like the brother he always wanted)

What is this game?: Cloudbreaker is a fantasy game about trying to solve problems creatively rather than with violence

How's the gameplay?: Cloudbreaker uses a simplistic 2d6 system, characters can sometimes gain an edge when rolling which makes them roll a 3rd dice and drop the lowest die, character creation is fairly simplistic but still customizable, players choose a Simple class (which has two branching paths), and later on get an Advanced class (Which also has two branching Paths) based on what simple class they took, each advanced class can come from one of two simple classes, characters are as such fun and varied. Characters also take Quirks and "Lifeforms"(Species) which each have mostly flavor based abilities. A primary focus of the game is the Research and Pacification system, where characters can analyze enemies to learn their weakness, and when they do they can leverage that weakness to finish a fight without killing an enemy! Cloudbreaker's gameplay is fairly deep and hard to explain, being a D&D-Like means its got a lot of finnicky subsystems that would take too long to explain, but if any of the prior concepts sound good Cloudbreaker may be for you!

The game also asks GMs to focus on non-violence objectives for action scenes, maybe you need to escort a target or clear a path for a large vehicle!

Another thing of note in the gameplay is it's magic system, characters choose a school of magic to be attuned to, and they can cast ALL spells from that school, later on they can learn more schools, and combine different schools to get special spells, or even mix together schools to create new schools

What's the setting (If any) like?: Cloudbreaker is setting in the fantasy post apocalyptic land of the Cloudlands, where people must break through thick barriers of Clouds in order to get to places, within those cloud are highly agressive Monsters, who must be pacified or killed in order to pass through safely. Players work for a guild dedicated to helping and researching the lands, and missions will often involve saving people from dangers, rather than just killing things mindlessly

What's the tone?: Cloudbreaker's setting is about upstart youths part of a guild meant to assist the needy and beaten, its tone tends to lean more hopeful as such

Session length: 2-4 hours, a major positive of the game is that combat is lightning fast

Number of Players: 4-6 players

Malleability: Cloudbreaker's game design feels stuck to a setting at first, but at a closer look its extremely malleable, you could probably run a few different settings in this

Resources: Sadly not a lot right now, though a form fillable character sheet is available

Cloudbreaker is probably what you're looking for if you want to leave 5e but don't like PF2 or any other 5e equivalent, well at least until I write the emberwind write up… any day now

The result of a funny thought after watching a video. I don't know what I'm talking about in this, the idea was just funny.

April was slightly annoyed, but still excited as she enters the building in front of her which pushing a rolling cart with a carrier on top.

The building was hosting a Cat Show.

Mikey had heard about it and wanted to enter Sunny, but couldn't get the day off, too many people wanted that day off already. The others had similar schedule problems, and/or they had streaming obligations on top of that.

So he begged April to go in his place. So here she was,entering a cat show as a favor for her Little Brother, who now owes her a Gourmet Lunch Bento everyday for 2 weeks.

She approached the checkin area to ask what she needs to do.

"Name, Breed, and category?" Asked the Receptionist.

April for a second almost said her own name, but caught herself, "This is Sunny, she's a Short Hair, and the category House Cat. She's my brothers cat, but he couldn't get the time off since he just learned about Cat Shows recently." April relays as she fills out the necessary papers, and whatnot.

"Okay, here's your number, just keep your ears and eyes out for when your group is called for judging." The Receptionist says while handing April a couple packets of information, and points toward the room where people were setting up their waiting area.

April gets to her table, and sets up the little popup tent with a letter tray, cat bed, and some small toys. All while giving Sunny pets, treats, and making sure her bandana/collar was on properly. It had one of the 2 or 3 tracking devices in it, you can never be too careful.

The day goes on with April talking with others there, all showing off their cats, showing videos or pictures of said cats, and talking about how things work.

Sunny is fairly popular among, getting lots of compliments, and requests for pictures. Some asking about the lovely feline.

And April would tell them, "My Brother found her after she somehow got into the car in a closed garage. We took her to the vet, clean bill of health, but she had no chip. And after not finding any missing cat posters, or getting responses for our Found Cat. So We kept Sunny and the rest is history. My Little Bro believes it was the cat distribution system choosing us."

Things of course got a bit tense when it was time to bring the cats up for one of the multiple rounds of judging. Some people were more dramatic, and claiming bribery when their Precious Kitty didn't get any ribbons.

April just tried to keep her cool, and be glad that Cass and CJ were to busy to join her, though sadly Sunita was at a family event so had to opt out of this event.

"Is it always like watching one of those kids pageant shows? Or am I just 'Lucky' to witness this drama?" She asked one of her table neighbors while sending an update to Mikey about how things are going.

"Well, it's not always this dramatic, but it happens pretty often. Why did you ask if you were 'Lucky'?" One of them who had a Maincoon.

April sighs with a flat look, "I was known for my weird Luck in school. Once had the sprinkler above me go off, and it was the only one to go off."

Her table neighbors were trying to tell if she was joking or not, but gave her the benefit of the doubt.

Once the next few rounds were done, and the final Judgment. Sunny now proudly had a ribbon, but let's not elaborate on which color or place it was for. They were all proud of Sunny anyway.

Today was a pretty great day. It was hot but it wasn't horrible. All of my groups were really nice. I slept pretty good last night. I had a good day overall. There were a lot of issues with the schedule and a lot of people complaining so I spent some of the day trying to solve some of that but I think it was a pretty successful day overall.

Last night after I finished my post I hung out in here for a long time. I would go out and look at the lightning bugs for a bit. Have a snack. Watch some videos. And eventually I fell asleep. I was trying to stay awake until CJ got here but I dozed and fell out and woke up when she came in. And it was very nice to see her and I'm glad I got to see her on her birthday. And then pretty soon after that I was mostly asleep again and she turned off the light and we went to sleep for real.

In the morning she has to wake up a lot earlier because she is with the SSC group that is doing the kitchen. And I was like mostly asleep while she was getting ready but she turned on the light at one point and that woke me up a little bit more but I just threw the blanket over my head and fell back asleep.

When my alarm went off about an hour later I got up and I felt okay. I was tired but it wasn't like delirious. I would wash my face and get dressed and pretty quickly headed out. It was already past flag and people were in line for breakfast. I went and wash my hands in the bathroom and got my little egg quiche thing and some potatoes. And I went and sat outside and ate that. It was fine. I think there were onions in it. But I'll live. My stomach will just hurt.

I would go to arts and crafts and make sure everything was set up and then laid in my hammock and read for a bit. Just enjoyed the morning. Said hello to people but mostly I was just hanging out and being chill.

And all my groups today were great. Everyone was on time and for the most part they were super chill. And I would send some text to check in with specialty staff but mainly I was just doing my own thing and it was really good.

I really enjoyed all my groups though and they all were so creative. Some groups struggled more than others. I know I hate when people blame COVID on stuff but specifically with the little kids they can't for was having like motor skill issues and problem solving issues that Day Camp one and was not having. Like yes they can't one was using the scissors upside down but they were so creative and doing a great job and understanding how to put paper together with glue without using tape. And then they can't afford today, while they were very sweet, were really struggling. One of the little girls in the group though was one of the children that I had when I was subbing at Bolton Hill nursery. And she was not having those problems at all but I know how the Montessori system was there and she did an amazing job. No problems at all. But some of the other kids were just like can you help me can you do this can you do that and I'm like no because then I'm doing your art and I already know how to do it. Sometimes you just have to let them fail a little bit.

After my first program I would go to the office for an hour because I had no group and I would work on the schedule a little bit. I've decided that there are ways that we can combine some of the program activities into specialty programs and open up some space for field and slingshots and even cabin time. And I know that the office doesn't love cabin time but honestly I think they need it. I understand that they want them to be doing stuff all day but I think we're all just a little too exhausted for that. Kids included. They want to be in the cabins that they paid to stay in. I get it. Hopefully next week they will let that part of the schedule move forward. I think it will help a lot in the long run.

Lunch was pretty good. It was a wrap It was a little boring but it was fine. I enjoyed sitting and talking with specialty staff but we were all pretty tired and hot. We were talking about things that were going wrong with the schedule and just with program stuff in general. Apparently a child broke their arm on Monday. And then Antonio got slammed into a wall over at the rope scores. So that's cool. And there was some mixups in the schedule just because they weren't communicated as well as I hoped. Mainly because I didn't think they needed to be communicated I thought they were straightforward but there was just a little bit of confusion. And you know what that is okay. We will sort it out. I am doing my best and I think everybody understands that at this point that I have no emotional ties to the schedule or any of the programs beyond arts and crafts. I just want everyone to be having a good time that's all that's really important to me. And if things aren't working we should cut them and figure out how to make the schedule work so that it works for everyone for the next 2 months.

After lunch I had my day camp groups. There was some drama with the counselors and one of my counselors cried and I felt so bad. She said she was all right. But I would still check in with Sarah later so that she knew that there was something up. That group possibly needed some more support.

Stockade was my last group of the day and they were great. I got to teach a few of them how to make bracelets and others were painting. And the ones that were painting let me talk about art history at them for a while and I think they thought it was very silly but I was just really enjoying relating their paintings to famous artists and talking about the way that you can talk about art and joking about how much you could sell it for. The one camper made a piece that reminded me of a Rothko and I told him he should name it"Earth (after Rothko)" And it was just a really silly conversation but I was enjoying it and they would clean up pretty well and help me bring in materials. One of the boys even help me rinse out some tie dye shirts that I had forgotten about last week. And then we were done. And I was able to go to my cabin and cool off for a bit.

I would get changed after having a phone call with Sarah Marie about some schedule confusion. And I decided I would just get changed with a pool now because they had pool canoes and I figure I'll just get in the pool then and I'll take a shower and then I can rest before dinner. And that ended up being the best plan possible.

I had a really lovely swim with silver City 3. Who I had had earlier in the day anyway. And I swam around until I was very very tired. And then I took a really good shower. I washed my hair. I wish I had more hair oil with me but the creams I do have are good enough for now. Maybe I'll braid my hair tomorrow if it's too fluffy. I got myself nice and clean though and came back down to my cabin to get changed for real.

I would lay in bed in the air conditioner for an hour or so.just trying to regroup. I considered sleeping but that never actually happened. Instead around 5:00 I would go back to the office to check in with Heather and think about some more of the changes that we might make. And then I went to go sit at the lodge with CJ. Dinner wasn't until 6:00 and it was nice just sitting outside with her and her SSC kids. I think she's doing a really good job even though it's been a little confusing a little hard. And dinner was great. I was the very first one in line and I insisted on multiple pieces of garlic bread. And the baked ziti was really good. I took it and ate at the picnic table down to the pioneer fire pit again. Just enjoyed my own company but it didn't feel lonely this time. The loneliness I felt last week has really dissipated a lot and that feels good. It's not so stressful. I can just enjoy being here.

I would stick around the lodge way longer than I usually like. I sat outside on the rocking chairs and I chatted with some of the teepees. I told Noah about the dream I had last night where he died by getting hit by a roller coaster. Super random but I felt like he needed to know. And one of the SSCs who I used to be one of my favorite stockade boys came up to me and was like I heard you got married! And he wanted to know all about it and it was very sweet. I also told him I got the house and that we went to Alaska and we recently went to Africa and he was like that's so cool You're such a good adult. I was like oh my God thank you I'm like I'm killing it I'm doing such a good job.

And I would stay even longer because the chef said that I should stick around for special dessert. And I was like okay. And it ended up being a banana cake with maple frosting. Not my favorite flavors but the cake itself was a beautiful texture. And he was really excited about it and I was excited for him for being excited about it. I really like our cooks this year they're all really sweet.

I was going to stay for evening program. But after walking around the woodlands village picking up trash. Seeing a dead frog. And checking on some program materials. I sat in the council rang for a few minutes but I got so sweaty and so hot. I noticed that the chocolate bar I had in my backpack I completely melted. Thankfully not on anything but I was just dying and I decided I should just go back to the cabin.

And that's where I am now. Evening program should be finishing up soon. I have cooled off and changed into smaller clothing. Less clothing. And I am just going to take it easy for the rest of the night. Hopefully I can sleep well and tomorrow just be in a really good mood.

!! | At this point, it's the "Scion best alter" meme. Many of our friends are in on this joke. Scion is never around anymore but every time anyone sees even a trace of her we have to be as abnormal as possible. We love it so much!

All your characters got arrested, oh no! What crimes did they commit to land them in jail (and which ones could talk their way to freedom)?

Let's categorize these. You said all characters so this is a long one. Every character of importance in TSP. Not just the core cast. But I'm not doing minor characters lol. And SOTL isn't developed enough I'm not going too crazy with this.

Also I'm likely to be vague about the specifics of the arrest to get the sense of their personalities. Also I think I'll include a few arrests now that I think about it. Thanks!

Least likely to break the rules

Carmen - her whole thing is doing things The Way They Are Supposed To Be Done. She would have to be driven to quite the breaking point. She's extremely loyal, more so than people think. So if it comes between her and her loyalty she may just break the law out of loyalty. Could she talk her way out of freedom? Eh she'd yell but she'll need help. If she managed to get the upper hand and control the situation maybe but I doubt it.

Noelle - similar to Carmen though with an intense loyalty mainly through blood family, but her problem is following the law. May be arrested if she oversteps her power. She could be pushed for murder. Could not talk her way out. Punch, sure.

Lexi - I think this poor girl would cry if she were arrested. Also a loyalty thing to push her, but it would be a long time coming. In a state of emotional turmoil she may do something drastic. Actually I know she will. Could be pushed for murder. Can talk her way out if she manages to calm down.

Akash - probably would have a crisis if arrested too. If pushed really far could get into a physical fight but honestly it would be hard getting him arrested. He could easily talk his way out. Probably by annoying someone.

Gabriel - oh man. He's arrested because it's someone else's fault. He would never intentionally. He probably caved enough to help a little bit but then got over his head and got arrested for kahoots. Probably could talk his way out.

CJ - more easily coerced to do illegal things than Gabriel but it also will be for helping someone else. Could talk his way out.

Hye-Jin - if someone provoked her she will provoke back, so that's a prerequisite. Something personal probably came up and she was defending someone. Doing the right thing kind of deal. Probably could not talk herself out.

Kelsey - same as above but she will definitely get physical and lose control of her powers. Could not talk herself out but if calm she could complain up a storm.

Would do something illegal

Gwen - won't consider breaking the law unless she has personal stake in it. That being said she would steal something. Maybe even something classified. If possible, she can use others weaknesses to get out of a situation. It has to be just right for her.

Jedi - mans would break the law more if he wasn't so conflict adverse. He wants to uproot the system trust me. If he manages to crawl out of the hole he has dug himself, that. I don't think he could talk himself out.

Robbie - probably vigilante justice. Yes he could talk his way out. Even annoy his way out.

Teo - could be arrested for anything honestly. If dedicated he will just do things on a whim with no regard for the law. Could talk himself out I think.

Wade - also vigilante justice. Probably trying to expose a corrupt government. Could talk himself out.

Issa - you'd think she would never break a rule but she will. If she's pissed off enough. If you get her to that point run. Capable of seriously injuring you. Could talk her way out.

Carla - what she needs is a confidence boost and then she'd easily be able to break the law. She would do something relatively minor, no violence involved, usually for another person's benefit. She'd try to talk her way out but 50/50 if it works.

Ewan - has the confidence to break the law but he wouldn't want to do it alone I feel. A sense of justice seems to be common in this section. Might be able to talk his way out, surprising many.

Tyler - yeah he would break the law if something was stupid. The kind of person who would break a law for the sole purpose of proving how dumb it was. Probably could talk his way out of it.

Anathi - would break the law because he hasn't exactly interacted with people before. He doesn't know what's going on other than that it doesn't sound right. Could not talk his way out.

Raissa - well I mean she has murdered and kidnapped and overthrown a government for herself so. Yeah she could be arrested for those things. I'd say she be able to talk herself out of it. But some things you cannot talk yourself out of.

Atsila - yeah extortion or trying to overthrow a government sounds right. She's confident she did the right thing and will be able to talk her way out of it. She cannot

Liam - bro could overthrow the government and be able to talk himself out of it. But honestly he's more likely to do smaller scale things. Could break into places or maybe spy.

Xitlali - same as Liam only she'd actually decided to overthrow the government

Love rule breaking

Rose - the girl has been emotionally repressed for years she has a lot of steam to burn. Probably could just be graffiti though. I think she has it in her to talk herself out of the situation.

Niri - honestly I don't think he'd be caught. He's so unassuming but he has a huge rebellious streak. Would take a lot of rule breaking to get him caught. Might be persuaded to break a bigger law which would get him caught. He can't speak orally but has the potential to "talk" himself out if he's given the means.

Maddie - physically attacking someone for sure. Maybe something really bad due to her shapeshifting abilities. So many animals are deadly. She won't feel any guilt. She'd try to defend herself. Could not talk out of a situation.

Ash - she'd break the law in pursuit of her own pleasure. Drugs, doing other crimes to get drugs. I can't imagine the mess she'll be as an adult let alone now. Could not talk her way out. Psychic powers may be activated.

Parker - he'll break the law because he's bored. Get arrested for the thrill. Can 100% talk himself out of most situations.

Jazlyn - slightly more bothered than Parker about getting arrested but she had fun doing it. More likely to be for an emotional reason if it's really bad though. She'll deny it. Yes she can talk herself out.

Sam - probably she got emotionally compromised and lashed out at something. Maybe also was doing it for a thrill ride to cover something bothering her. Honestly could talk herself out of the situation once she calms down.

Alex - less bothered than Sam for sure. May bring a few friends in, too. Will have so much fun doing it she won't think of the consequences. Could talk herself out of it unless she's unfamiliar with the law she broke.

I don't wanna spoil myself too much, but I got curious about two things regarding your writing!

What is the hierarchy of hell like in Devil in the Details? We know that Lucifer and Asti are pretty high, but who is beneath them? Also, how (if they do it, anyhow) do they handle the buerocratic things?

The Chinchirpas! I've started doodling then and I've been wondering... How exactly is their diet? I take it they're carnivores, bit they're also really small - what do they eat?

So, now to spoil you with answers!!

@devil-in-the-details-ay - Lucifer is the King, there is no one above him. Astaroth is both a Prince and a Grand Duke of Hell, when addressed he is called Lord Astaroth. Kind of like Prince William is the Prince of Wales, but also the Duke of Cornwall and the Duke of Rothesay. Astaroth also has multiple titles.

Under Astaroth, as the literal embodiment of Death, are a legion of demons and reapers that are responsible for carrying out the tasks associated with death. Astaroth also works with the Holy Angel Azazel, Baron Samedi, Papa Ghede, Papa Legba, Hades, Hel, Arawn, Yama, Anubis, Horis, Pluto, Kali, Ah Puch, Mictlantecuhtli, The Shinigami, Apophis, Maman Brigette, and other lesser death deities. He is just death, he doesn't deal with the souls after they are dead. He coordinates the hand off to whatever deity, or deities are responsible for them after death.

If a soul ends up in the wrong place, it is his responsibility to coordinate the transfer of the soul from one deity's control to another. If two deities lay claim on a soul, it is also his job to work out either a compromise or who will get ownership. Yes, he negotiated the deal that has Persephone doing the half a year with Hades thing. It was a mess and he doesn't like to talk about it. Zeus is an asshole, FYI.

Astaroth does not belong to one pantheon or belief system. He IS DEATH. He is universal, and, as such, has no allegiance to anyone. That is what Lucifer doesn't like about him. He is still welcome in Heaven, where he lived before the fall. He didn't live there because he was and angel, that's Azazel; he lived there because he liked it there. He no longer likes it in Hell, so where he's going to end up is up in the air and there are a few pantheons that would love to have him there!

One power that Astaroth has that his reapers do not, is the power to destroy a soul. As his wife, Yara now has this power as well. When a soul is destroyed there is no afterlife. It simply ceases to be. Astaroth does this in very rare circumstances, and normally when the being in question has gone so evil that even in the afterlife, they cannot be allowed to continue to exist. He's also done it in revenge, and if Lucifer isn't careful, he may end up destroyed.
