I'm so tired of how much witchcraft has seemed to turn into just buying supplies and buying a specific deck and buying and buying and buying

That's not right. This might lead to those who have no funds to feeling like they arent good enough or can't do things life others do. So fuck it.

I'm gonna figure out a way to make a post of how to make simple oracle/divination cards with a scavanger hunt, and a tutorial on how to make the cards with as little as possible.

I already have a post on self made oracle cards you can find though my masterlist pinned on my blog, but not everyone likes to draw, so I think a different option would be nice.

It's going to take a while to put together, but I will start by making a list of the type of cards you will need, so feel free to drop some suggestions on this post.

The moment I realized I could get a transparent cover for my notebooks and create a whole new cover under that is probably the most powerful I've felt in my entire life.

47: I amazingly had two cutouts of the exact same tile in different sizes and a piece of cardboard that matched them almost perfectly. Stickers from my one true love, the Tools & Toys Hobonichi box.

The rest of the stickers come from random places and a collection sheets I've accumulated through the years so I couldn't 100% tell you where I got them! And I believe the Lunar Eclipse card comes from an oracle deck, but I bought it by itself.

"You fitting in nicely, little Gemstone?"

Gem snaps her eyes open and brings her head up from the pile of pillows she's been laying on, blinking her tiredness away to find Skizz looking over at her with a endeared smile. Impulse was just right behind him, already made a spot for himself on the piles of pillows over the carpet Xisuma sewed for her.

She sits up properly and ruffles her own curls as she greets the two, "Hi you guys. You didn't tell me you were visiting," she grumbled, causing some worried looks from her visitors.

"Well, we weren't supposed to until the next day when you weren't busy still decorating the cave, but we couldn't wait to give you the--!" Skizz's excited ramble was then cut off by Impulse's loud 'ssshhh'.

"You'd be ruining the surprise, Skizz," he warned gently.

This caused Gem to straighten up and flash an inquiring look to the two, "Surprise?"

The duo shared a knowing smile but didn't answer Gem. Instead, Skizz went over and flopped himself next to the ginger haired girl, making himself comfortable as he stretched over the pillows, "Nevermind that- You're makin' it pretty comfy over here, Gem! Didn't know a cave could be this comfy!"

Gem poked at Skizz's side with a pout, "Hey, what surprise are you talking about?!"

It was then Impulse's turn to continue on the conversation like Gem wasn't overly confused right now, "The place looks great, Gem," he commended with a smile, "Looks like you had fun with it!"

Seeing as neither of them was gonna sate her curiosity, she continue to pout but relented to the change of topic anyway, "It looks okay." She brought her knees to herself as her gaze flickered all over her space, "It's comfy, but it feels.... non-homey. Empty?"

She looked doubtful. Honestly, this was what Gem had been mulling over even before Skizz and Impulse arrived here. She had just finished piling up a comfy corner on the carpet- which seems to do its job well considering the child of Apollo was rolling over it like an excited dog, but the cave still feels so lonely.

Gem didn't understand it either. She had the freedom to put everything she wanted in this cave, decorate it how she sees fit (an opportunity she often doesn't get at home) but it's not enough for her. She probably just wasn't used to having such a big space for herself.

Impulse examined her expression and held his chin in thought, "Empty, huh?" he repeated, now taking the time to look all over the cave as well. His thoughts were broken off by Skizz excitedly nudging his leg with his foot.

Impulse rolled his eyes fondly and gently swatted Skizz's foot away, earning a giggle. Gem smiled at this interaction both fondly and confusingly.

"Seriously, is anyone going to tell me what you're so excited about?" She seriously couldn't take it anymore.

"Oh, it's nothing-"

"More than nothing!" Skizz snickered. Impulse quickly realizes that he can't contain the excitement of even his own partner in this plan.

"I don't exactly know what the problem with your cave is, but how about this for a solution?" Suddenly, Impulse shifted so that he wasn't sitting infront of a box that had apparently been behind him this entire time.

The oracle perked up and crawled over as the child of Hermes pushed it towards her.

The box looked nothing too special. It just looked like a cardboard box they used to transport the jams the camps sold outside with the addition of horrible but adorable drawings of Gem all over it, possibly from more than one camper that's not her two visitors.

At least, judging with the way one of the drawings of Gem as a cat has 'Scra and Grain was hree!' written next to it. It looked like a box she'd receive from an overseas family that misses her except said family was literally a walk away.

She looks between Skizz, Impulse, and the box doubtfully, only encouraged to finally open it up by their expectant smiles.

Gem stumbled back in surprise as she was jumped at by some fluffy monster that jumped out of the box. She couldn't hold back a scream, which was followed by the Skizz and Impulse duo laughing at her reaction.

She pushed the big fluffy thing out of the way and finally got a good look at what she was 'attacked' by. What she expected to be a monster were... two plushies almost half her size.

Her green eyes stared into the beady ones of the shark before transferring to the clownfish one that was slightly smaller, jump off to the side.

"You idiots, I thought you gave me a monster! How did you even pack those things in such a small box?!" Gem yelled accusingly as she pushed the shark plushie off her. Skizz took the shark in his arms, flailing its fins with his hands.

"Awe, you'd call these little guys monsters?" the son of Apollo cooed, making the biggest puppy eyes as he puppeted the shark plushie to flail around sadly.

Gem rolled her eyes and looked over to Impulse for help, but even the son of Hermes had taken the clownfish one and puppeted it to make it seem alive, "Little Gem thinks we're scary, big shark!" Impulse said in a high pitched voice.

"Aw, how about we hug it out and show her how unscary we are, little clown?" Skizz replied with an equally high pitched voice before he leaned forward and started playfully smothering Gem with the shark, causing the oracle to squeak in surprise and exclaim in complaint. Though she eventually learned to giggle the more relentless Skizz was with his attacks.

"Ough, stop it!" she yelled in between giggles, tugging at the shark so that Skizz wouldn't have control over it anymore, "You guys treat me too much like a kid!"

Impulse tutted and shook his head, "Oh, no, no- Not us. Your new roommates, see?" he waved the little clownfish's fin and Gem couldn't help but groan.

"You guys are idiots," she mumbled as she squeezed at the face of the shark, finding herself a lot more relaxed the more she squeezed, "Why a shark and a clownfish anyway?"

Impulse shrugged, "We didn't know what you liked, but X told us you just liked aquatic stuff in general. I was the one that bought the shark."

Skizz had an actual answer, "Your hair reminded me of a clownfish!"

Gem frowned at Skizz's answer, looked down at her hair and pouted at the son of Apollo who then added cheekily, "Our little Nemo~"

Dramatic screaming and loud cackling rang out of the cave as Gem had accidentally started a pillow fight from trying to protest against her new nickname.

It wasn't that her cave was lacking decorations. She just needed memories to fill up the empty corners.

so, ive read quite a bit of posts in here (reached page 39, counted from newest posts) and read very often, that people see the demoneater as a big cat. I like this image (and grew up with cats myself) here are my questions:

1.) some of my cats loved to loved to stare motionless into an empty corner. People believe, that in that case, cats are seeing a ghost/invisible monster. What would the ROs reaction be if they see the demoneater oracle in this position?

2.) ist a known fact that cats loves playing with cheap stuff (like cardboard boxes) instead of the expensive toys you bought them. What would be ROs reactions if they see demoneater oracle trying to fit their way to big body into the way to small cardboard box? (Maybe the ROs bought something fitting for oracles hobby?)

PS: do you have specific rules for posting here? Like only post once per day/you answer only one post from a person per day?

All of them would ask what you’re up to. My cats also love staring at empty spaces, but I have no idea what’s going on in their small heads, so I don’t know where this scenario could lead, lol! Os would likely tell you to do something productive, but the others would leave you in peace. Everyone needs to stare into nothingness now and then.

I don’t think there’s a box big or small enough for the Oracle in a demoneater form to try and fit into it 😂😂😂 Even their paw wouldn’t fit. The cast would be greatly amused at your antics. Az would keep reminding you about this at the worst times, lol.

I don’t have rules. I try to answer a question every day (haha), but I don’t always have time for that. The story takes priority over the blog, so I usually spend my free time working on the project. I also sometimes answer questions before scenarios (which take longer to write), so that can be something to consider before you send in an ask/scenario.

@sowaran Dude I've been wondering the same thing. And yeah Bills power limits are confusing af.

I brushed up on highschool eye biology just to try and figure wtf Bill might have done, but I only came up with theories for what he might have changed physically, which doesn't really answer the "isn't he bound to only influencing the brain?" question. The only one that would fit in that case is that Bill actually just fucked with Fords brain to TRICK him into thinking he's seeing a new colour, but that theory makes me sad :(

But this next theory is the personal headcanon I choose to have, wether it makes sense or not idk:

The front parts of our eyes naturally absorb UV rays before they can get to the back (where the whole "seeing" ordeal actually happens) because they would damage more irreplaceable cells, but that then means we can't see UVs! (I'm pretty sure we can't see them also because our cones, the cells that see colour, can't perceive them, but idk). What if Bill somehow sent a message to the cells of the cornea to tell them to die and absorb less(???) of the UVs, so that Ford could perceive some UV light, and that is what he dubbed "Fordtramarine"?

And Bill would only do that to one of Fords eyes, because he would know that it would slowly ruin the mans vision, and he needs the guy to have at least one eye to complete the portal! So that's why Fords eye would ache and bleed: not because Bill is posessing him, but because it's slowly degrading because he can see UVs, and by the time he flies through the portal, he can barely use it.

I like to then imagine that when he meets the Oracle, she interrogates him on his bleeding irritated eye, and when he talks about Fordtramarine, she breaks it to him that he's seeing some UVs, which are slowly destroying his eye (and that Fordtramarine has already been discovered and it's called "brown 2"). So not only would he get a metal plate in his head, but maybe a new eye (because his own is now way too damaged), which could have some perks and drawbacks.

And maybe that would kinda explain Bill's "Wow, two eyes? This thing's deluxe!" when he possesses Dipper in "Sock Opera".

This headcanon is built with flimsy cardboard and a lot of tape, but it was fun to think about haha

It has illustrations of deep concepts from humanity, which makes it perfect for fortune-telling. ♥️ What the fuck is cartomancy? Cartomancy is the art and practice of reading the future (and other stuff) with playing cards or any deck of cards. ♣️ Oh shit! Is divination real? Short answer: No. Long answer: When you see a movie do you expect EVERYTHING to be absolutely real? No. You want it to be interesting and coherent, right? That's how this shit works. It may not be real (at least that we know) but it's always interesting to see. ♦️ So... what do I do? Tarot cards answer questions (about the future, present and past). You could ask "Is my project going to slay?" or "Will my relationship continue to be awesome?". Those are very good questions. • Slashers & Serial Killers from different movies, shows, and franchises

[AU info]

• Everyone is human, including King.

• Takes place in Gravesfield which has a high crime rate due to gang violence, addicts, serial killers, etc. Also Gravesfield is a lot more larger than it's canon counterpart.

• There are a total of three gangs within Gravesfield; The Fallen Angels MC (Bikers), The Alley Cats (Punks), The New Dawn (White Supremacists).

• Before Luz, there were other serial killers that terrorized Gravesfield in the past.

• Camila was an abusive parent, even before Manny passed away, and was very discriminative twords Luz for "Not being normal". So due to this Luz was with her dad most of her life.

• Luz was around ten years old when she got adopted and achieved her first kill.

• King has been adopted by Eda and Raine ever since he was a baby. They found him abandoned in a cardboard box within an empty alley.

• Eda has heterochromia, a prosthetic arm, and Epilepsy in which she calls her "Curse". Oh, and also a bit of PTSD.

• Eda owns a pawn shop called "The Owl's Nest" and Raine is a music teacher at Gravesfield High.

• Lilith works for the Gravesfield Police Department as a detective.

• Lilith adopted both Vee and Hunter when they were around five and six years old. She adopted Hunter after a case regarding child abuse and then Vee after busting a Child Abduction & Slavery operation.

• Hooty and Owlbert are Eda's pet Owls.

• Stringbean is Luz's pet garter snake that Eda and Raine got for her 12th Birthday.

• Palisman are ordinary animals.

• Collie *The Collector* is born with vitiligo and has ADHD, he's been friends with King since preschool.

• The Archivists are Collie's older siblings that went to Luz's Highschool.

• Masha lives a very poor and dysfunctional life with their abusive mom and dad in a rundown trailer park, and whenever it got out of control they would sneak out of the house and stay with their friends for a bit.

• Alador and Odalia were both abusive parents to the point where they would badly injure and torture their own kids.

• Amity, Emira, and Edric got adopted by Darius Deamonne at a young age after the police found out about the abuse and torment they went through.

• Philip Wittebane is not immortal and died back in the 1600s, but he's still the puritan, false christian fanatic though and the statue of the Wittebane Brothers only has Caleb's statue while Philip's is completely defaced and vandalized.

Solo roleplaying grants instant gratification if compared to amateur writing, despite seemingly having a lot in common.

If I was writing some cheap fantasy this night, as I sometimes do, I would be thinking about originality and style and characters and other things that make good piece of art.

But if you have dice and some oracles of your choice you can just have fun with little guy that is your PC (or PCs) and your world by stacking tropes from your favourite media together and seeing how will it develop due to dice rolls, because you yourself have no idea what happens next. And nobody cares that story sucks, that characters are cardboard and that "prose" is as bad as in children's fairytales, as long as you have fun.

And if you are simultaneously creative and honest with yourself, you can even challenge yourself intellectually.

12. what deck has been there for you through thick and thin? - Definitely my Raven's Prophecy. I've had a version of it for probably a decade now and it is the one I reach for when I need a good dressing down or some straight talk.

13. if you could only save a handful of decks from a fire, which decks would you save? - Currently I only have a handful of decks (dear gods, do I really only have 4 right now? and one of them is an oracle deck) but they are scattered throughout the house. I would definitely save my classic Rider Waite, not because I particularly like the deck, but it was my first one and a gift from my aunt. Sentimental reasons, at the end of the day, they're all just cardboard I can replace.

Dispelling Myths About Divination Tools

Buckle In, Bitches. This shit has annoyed me FOREVER.

Hollywood has taken these items and turned them into tools for horror (Ouija boards / Spirit boards, and most recently, Tarot cards, with the movie "TAROT")

NONE OF THESE CAN SUMMON THINGS - LAMINATED CARDS AND CARBOARD HOLD NOTHING ON THEIR OWN EXCEPT RESIDUAL ENERGY FROM THE PEOPLE WHO CREATED THEM.

YOU CANNOT SUMMON IMAGES OFF OF CARDS, OR "DEMONS" FROM BOARDS - WOOD, PLASTIC OR CARDBOARD.

Whenever people ask for readings, they usually mean with Tarot cards, the most widely known and popular form of divination. These cards cannot read your mind or give you step-by-step instructions on how to make a relationship work, how to land that ultimate dream job, nothing. YOU YOURSELF have to put in the work AFTER the reading has finished.

A spread of cards telling you something isn't the same as speaking with the person(s) you're having issues with - The cards are a GUIDE, they cannot tell you what to do, how to "fix" things with people.

If a Reader gives you a reading and you seek more clarification, but the reading is basic (A general reading, not in-depth) you cannot ask for anything else if you paid a small amount of money to gain a reading - And if no money was exchanged for the reading, you cannot also seek to dig deeper and bother the Reader.

Using these tools takes energy from a person - usually rolling the question around in their mind as they shuffle the deck, or shake dice in their hand for a Dice reading, whatever. This takes TIME and ENERGY of the person doing the reading for the person who asked.

Having dozens of people ask me in the past for a reading (Tarot, Oracle, Dice) has worn me down, because they constantly ask and ask and ask for "More clarification, more information" AFTER the cards have been pulled and the interpretation has been done for them.

I cannot give you detailed advice with a basic/general reading, nobody who uses divination tools can - We ALL ASK the person who wants a reading to tell us exactly what they're after with their question, and if it is too vague, we ask to have it narrowed down to one specific question so we can pull the cards better, and then give you a better reading, not necessarily a better outcome of what you seek to know about.

When you come to a Reader, leave behind the Hollywood psychosomatics behind (thinking these tools are mind readers, evil, blah blah) and be genuine when you ask.

So I've been inactive for a while, and I was gonna do a daily character trivia thing stolen from Pixel but big surprise, I forgot! (This is not a surprise.) So here's A BUNCH of random trivia facts about A BUNCH of random characters! Dreamcast: When I made Dreamcast, I used to have a fuck ton of names, so I chose one and gave it to him. This is why his name is Dreamcast Dreamcast was kind of my persona for a little bit. Originally, Dreamcast was going to be a DID System instead of literally splitting off into other people. Younger Dreamcast has his hair in a ponytail. Dreamcast has a partner named Sturmkast. Originally, every Alterna was supposed to have a name like Dreamcast's (word+cast), which is why Dreamfunk, Scenecast, and Sturmkast have names like his. Saturn: Saturn exists because I was fucking around with a Dreamcast Character.AI Bot I made (I made him kill Shauntal from Pokemon Black/White) Saturn was originally supposed to have a red oriented color pallet instead of his red-orange. Saturn is ambidextrous, but often uses his left hand. The earliest public thought of Saturn lies within the Rivals of Aether Dreamcast Workshop Character, where his last color alt is red, and named "Relentless." I don't think I talked about Saturn yet. When Saturn forms The Oracle, he wears a ponytail rather than letting his hair down. Grimoire Epitaph: Grimoire is an idiot. Grimoire actually has a twitter account (@GrimoireEpitaph), and you can follow her! Starstorm/Professor Sydes: The name Professor Sydes comes from a story I never got around to writing "Sun vs. Moon: The Story of the Lunar-Solar War." The "Sydes" part actually comes from indie game dev Sigyaad, whose username was "Sydes" (it is no longer his username) There's actually another story I used the name Professor Sydes in, though I won't be sharing that because it is embarrassing. Starstorm originally was going to look more similar to Starved Eggman's Furnace, but I opted for a design similar to normal Metal Sonic. Starstorm was originally going to be a blue bunny with white stars. Crazy how different his design is now. PKay: Oh boy, I have the most miscellaneous facts for this little GOOBER. ahem. When singing alone, PKay often imagines Kyo singing with them.

PKay has canonically gone hyper and super.

PKay has choked on a whole pineapple, and nearly died.

PKay takes extreme caution when eating pineapples.

PKay commonly falls backwards on benches when sitting down on them.

PKay really enjoys Touhou Project.

PKay gets really mad when people take her color in Among Us (White). PKay can vibrate at intense speeds with ease. PKay almost died by getting a Wii U Gamepad thrown at their head. PKay can purr.

PKay's main outfit costs 513 Robux, which is equivelent to about $6.41 USD Erin (Hikiko-PKay): Everything about PKay is true to Hikiko-PKay (except Erin's outfit price, which is 213 robux instead of 513) Erin lives in a forest house. Erin was actually a serial killer for a bit after her first kill. She stopped because she was almost caught. Around the time I created Erin, both Erin and PKay haunted me for like 2 weeks Erin's full list of abilities are as follows; Shapeshifting Conjuring/Control of Chains Reality Manipulation Materialization of Animate and Inanimate Objects Hypnotization Emotion Manipulation Flight Teleportation Telekinesis Gravity Control oh and she can see through cardboard uhhhh that's all i can think of right now.

Oh I think I know who you mean when talking about editorial. Does she happen to be a humongous fan of them and was the editor of Batgirls and is the current editor of Nightwing who is choosing what writers she wants to write them? Also is she behind all the recent covers of them?

It would be nice to have Oracle back and actually have an arc. Characters don't need trauma to make them interesting. She's over it and has been over the Joker for a long time. They keep recycling this story for her the same way they do with Jason Todd. They both don't care about that clown anymore. Like Babs needs an arc or something interesting to motivate her or actually cause a problem for her. I love her but I can't read one more thing where she is just perfect and isn't given any challenge. I want to see her suffer (affectionally). I love her the most when she was prickly and is a little bit of a bully. I like when she fights with other characters and then has to apologize.

ngl i don’t keep up with editor names but it is one of these ppl. it’s the same editorial team for both books. i remember it being a dude but can’t source that so i’m giving group blame lol. editors choose the variant cover artists and do have cover input so probably.

the move right now seems to be that dc wants to make d/b their new flagship couple, which. they’re also trying to be somewhat meta with all their batman “commentary”, if you can call it that, and the comparisons they’ve been making between batcat and d/b.

and i completely agree with the babs stuff. she’s just much more important as oracle and more interesting as well. you could replace her with a cardboard cutout in this new era and it wouldn’t change anything 💀.

I was looking though my cards to find a good commander, then I made... This...

As a Timmy with some minor combo knowledge from my 4 ish years playing the game, I wanted to get into blue. What I was not expecting was to be making a mono blue commander. Maybe some green? Black would have been neat, but nope, I'm here making 3.41x10^19 tentacles during your turn, and heaven forbid you want to get rid of those, I'll have your whole board stunned if you so much as look at me wrong.

But yeah, I ain't made of money, so the Proxy list is Thassa's Oracle, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, Spark Double, Consecrated Sphinx, Rhystic Study, and Dark Depths. Probably throw them on here because some people appreciated the last proxies I made. But in either case, who says you need money to make a good commander deck? Just so long as you don't go overboard with proxies (10% works good in my opinion), who's really gonna blame you for not wanting to spend $100 on 4 pieces of cardboard.

Thank you for being so open with the community, I love reading your design insight. My first 2 paragraphs are small grumbling that have been echoed in other places, and probably can be skipped 😅, the second half is a massive emotional issue, and has drastically changed how I approach the game.

I have started playing again a bit ago in 2022, and I have never known them myself, but I yearn for 3 set blocks. Heading from bloom burrow to dusk mourn to foundations to race cars. In the span of 6 months, gives so much tonal whiplash that it drains my ability to care about any of it. I want something with an arc, with implications, growth, not just a pile of references and objects that are thematically similar.

I love wacky shit, what chances I have had to play with silver border cards I have loved. And when mystery booster 2 was revealed, I wanted that, but the price kept me away. And that sucks, and I am still salty about the fact that I can't draft with playtest cards except by buying a box that is at least 2x the price of a normal draft box. (something that for now and for probably how long they will stay in stock is the case)

Lastly, the big topic. I hate the secondary market with a passion. I hate that every mtg product is evaluated on retail value, I hate that cards are betted on like stocks, that packs are gambling with monetary consequences, that bans impact people's wallets. I want to play a game and discuss design, rules, lore, art, all beautifully things about magic. I don't want concerns about, price, costs, profit to be a part of my game night.

The switch I made to using proxies is the best I have ever made. I didn't do it to reduce costs, I have been printing decks and buying accessories left and right, and it's my main hobby money sink, I am spending more on mtg than ever before. It's the best choice because I don't need to engage with the stupid secondary market, limited offer products, gambling or carry around hundreds or euros of cardboard on a train trip. (And smaller upside, I also have control of the art / border of cards and update old printing with new Oracle text when needed)

As Gabe said, and I will repeat here: "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem". And the emotional toll that the secondary market, that scarcity, that gambling, inflicts is baggage I am glad to have stepped away from.

Stepping away from official products, away from the environment WoTC fosters has improved the game, has improved my hobby, and that Should worry all of you.

I’ve always felt the core role of this blog has been one of information. We make a lot of choices in design, and I try to use my various communications, including Blogatog, to walk the players through what we were thinking when we made key decisions.

The challenge with this approach is that it’s very logic-focused. It uses intellectual justifications to explain actions. But the problems I’m often responding to are emotional in origin. I have a good friend who’s a psychologist. He refers to this (using the words of author Robyn Gobbel) as an owl brain solution to a watchdog brain problem.

When someone is hurting, hearing about why the thing that is causing them pain is the result of intellectual decisions falls flat. That’s what has been causing some tension lately here on Blogatog.

It’s clear that for some Question Marks changes over the last few years represent the loss of something key to what makes Magic special to them. To them, the game is losing its heart.

While I can’t necessarily do anything about that, I want to better understand what you’re going through. So I’m using this post to ask players who are concerned with the recent changes to help me understand their feelings. Let me hear your stories about how your lives have been affected by these changes.
