Always & Forever
okay, hi, welcome, i'm really unsure about this because i've never written something quite so heavy or, in fact, anything Elejah at all so, um, be nice? pwease? and if you see typos, as always, no you didn't. this came about because i recently re-read two masterpieces of the Elejah variety: We Remain, by Anonymous Obssesser (@deathloveshischicagopizza on this platform, sure hope i got that right lmao) and She's Come Undone and Set Free, by @terapsina. and it got the brain juices flowing and the creative bugs going.
you can find me here on ao3. this has also been cross-posted over there.
WARNING: very brief discussion of non-con/rape (because Damon is a dick) but it's more implied than anything else.
as for my ElijahxOC fic readers (if there are any here) i swear to god i'm in the process of writing a new chapter, i promise.

Always and forever.
Looking up at the intimidating walls of the infamous Abattoir, Elena kept those words close to her heart, like a talisman against the dangers she knew lurked inside.
She wasn’t afraid of him. She never truly had been, aside from their first meeting, forever ago in that decrepit mansion in the middle of nowhere. But she was unsure about his brother, and the kingdom he ruled over. Even now, a mere hour after the sun had set, she could see vampires flitting in and out through the doorway, obviously on a mission for their evil hybrid overlord.
Elena took a deep breath, calming her heart. She’d sworn to herself that she wouldn’t think of him in those terms anymore. They were long past that, they had to be, for her own sanity. Besides, the moral high ground was no longer hers to stand on.
She took one step, then another, forcing her legs to move despite the fear. She knew she couldn’t stay the way she was, alone and scared. She knew who she could trust.
She always had.
Hyperaware as she was, she could feel everything. The stares on her as she made her way through a square courtyard, the back and forth glide of her purse against her hip, the smell of blood and bourbon—a scent she had come to associate with New Orleans—but most of all she felt the moment he saw her, as if ripples crashed against her chest in tiny little shockwaves.
A vampire zoomed in front of her, fangs out, eyes flashing red, no doubt trying to intimidate her; that’s how vampiric hierarchy worked (another thing they had neglected to teach her). He didn’t know she had known far, far worse.
She often wondered if the Salvatores knew the first thing about being vampires. She supposed she was lucky Rose had told her some things, the last time she was in town, such as how to act around older, stronger vampires before you inadvertently got your head swiped clean off your shoulders. Or else, she probably would have been long dead, again.
Still, she submitted, as she had always done. She cast her eyes down, her jugular on clear display, and waited. The vampire, a dark-skinned man with wide eyes, immediately stood back, cocking his head slightly. Then he straightened, a telltale look of fear in his eyes.
“I’d recommend not doing that again, Diego.”
His voice, soft and dangerous, just the way she remembered it. But the danger was never for her, not even when he’d cracked the earth open and abandoned her to his sister’s less than tender mercy in that underground cave he knew so well.
Elijah Mikaelson was dangerous.
To everyone else.
“Elena.”
She fought to keep her eyes open. She couldn’t help it, she’d missed the sound of her name on his lips. The way he accented the word a little differently than everyone else, how even when he was stressed or angry, he’d always said her name with a little bit of wonder, an awestruck tone she couldn’t quite understand. She had always been special, she knew—to her parents, their little girl; to her brother, his only sibling; to her friends, the listening ear; to the brothers, for her face; and then, to him. She didn’t understand how she was special to him, but she was, she knew it. His tone of voice gave him away, every time, the soft lilting of the syllables, pronounced with care, each of them a caress that soothed some strange part of her brain.
“Elijah.”
She met his eyes, wider and darker than she remembered them. Actually, no, that wasn’t right, they had been even darker in Willoughby, when he’d kissed her.
Not her. Katherine.
She forced the thought away, she couldn’t afford to dwell on that now. She had other, bigger, problems only an Original brother could help her with. She almost thanked Klaus and his godforsaken curse for bringing him into her life, however inadvertently, because she wasn’t sure what she would have done without him now.
Probably staked herself.
“Can we—” she faltered a bit, eyeing the vampires listening in, trying to pretend they weren’t interested in what a baby vampire could have to say to the king of the city that would warrant even a moment of his time. Because he was the king, she had no doubt about that. Klaus may be the face, but Elijah was the hand behind it all.
She swallowed, putting her blinders on, taking a deep breath. “Can we talk?”
He observed her, his head tilted to the side, a small frown on his brow. She could tell her demeanor alone puzzled him, but she wasn’t surprised. After all, the last time he’d seen her, she’d been on a rampage across the country, his little sister in tow, searching for a cure she obviously had not taken. He rallied quickly, turning halfway, gesturing to door behind him. It led to an indoor dining room area and she briefly panicked; It was too reminiscent of the boarding house.
“Not—not here, hum… Would you mind…?” She turned back towards the lobby, the doors still wide open.
He softened, his hands going back into his pockets. A clear message to her—an everyone else—that he meant no harm. She’d learned that particular tell of his long ago.
“Of course.”
She felt his hand at the small of her back as they walked outside into the evening air. She still felt slightly claustrophobic indoors, even in an open courtyard, the presence of a dozen vampiric eyes on her certainly not helping. It reminded her too much of the almost scientific fascination the brothers had when they were trying to force her back into a humanity she wasn’t certain she wanted anymore.
And therein laid her problem.
The switch was back on, she knew that; she could feel it, just as she herself simply… felt. But it wasn’t pushed back completely, there was a jam, a missing piece, a core memory she still couldn’t access. Part of her wondered if it was for her own good, the other part wanted to let everything back in and be done with it. As things stood now, she had only half the story behind her sudden emotion-free spree, and she knew there was more lurking behind that door.
But she wasn’t sure how to access it on her own, and she needed the help on the only other vampire she could trust to do it right.
This limbo state—on but not on; back to herself but not completely—made her incredibly vulnerable. She could feel the imbalance in her soul, as corny as that sounded, because she was missing something—something she needed in order to move on fully, to become herself again, even in this new skin.
Caroline couldn’t help her, although she understood what the problem was and it was ironically her who had suggested the solution that had been staring her in the face all this time. She needed help from someone who had studied vampirism better than anyone else, and that person walked by her side now, silent as he let her gather her thoughts. She took a breath, let it out, relishing the fresh air.
Well, as fresh as it could be in the Big Easy.
“Where are we going?” She asked, her voice still too small for her liking. She wasn’t afraid of him, dammit! She was simply afraid of every other man. But she didn’t know how to let him know that, and she could tell he was worried.
“What would you prefer?” He asked right back, ever the gentleman.
She shrugged. “You know the city better than I do.”
He smiled. “There’s a bar not far that my siblings and I like to frequent on occasion. Unless you would prefer dinner?”
She shivered slightly, either to the thought of “dinner” or his voice, she wasn’t sure.
“The bar will do.”
She wasn’t even surprised when he opened the door to Rousseau’s, she really should have known. He noticed her half-smile when they sat down, cocking an eyebrow in question. She shook her head, amused.
“That’s the first bar I stopped at when I first arrived in the city.” Figures you’d do the same, but she didn’t say that.
“Yes, it’s quite… quaint,” he replied, lips quirking up slightly, somehow managing not to make it sound like an insult, “it’s also where I first stopped by when I came back.”
Yeah, figures.
“Did you know it, back in the day?”
He shook his head, smiling a little more fully as a blonde bartender approached them. “Not very well, it was ran by a werewolf family my brother and I preferred to avoid dealing with whenever possible.”
“NOLA problems?”
“NOLA problems.”
The bartender, Camille, judging by her name tag, reached their table and Elena was surprised when Elijah engaged her in a short but clearly familiar conversation. Camille seemed equally surprised to find him here at this hour, seated with a woman. Clearly, it wasn’t a habit of his. She chose not to analyze how that made her feel.
“What can I get you?” She asked with a friendly smile. She really was quite beautiful.
Unsurprisingly, Elijah asked for bourbon. Elena stifled a laugh, asking her to make her whatever she fancied most. This time, it was Elijah’s turn to chuckle and Camille joined him, shaking her head.
“Family habit, I see.”
Elena froze, eyes growing wide, but Elijah didn’t contradict her and Camille went on her merry way back to the bar, only throwing one furtive glance back.
“Family habit?”
Elijah shook his head, rearranging his glass so it sat just so in front of him. She valiantly resisted the urge to push it back just to mess with him.
“I may or may not have told her the exact same thing when I first met her. She’s become somewhat of a friend of ours since then.”
“She seems nice.”
He nodded, pensive again. She managed to hold eye contact for all of three seconds before looking back down at her hands, fiddling with the string of her purse.
“Elena.”
She looked back up just as Camille brought them their drinks. Cautiously, she took a sip, surprised at the depth of flavors that exploded on her tongue. Her wonder must have shown  on her face because Camille laughed.
“I’ve learned a thing or two about making vampires drinks. I hope it’s to your taste?”
Elena shot her a look, taken aback, but Elijah simply smiled.
“You can call me Cami, by the way. I hate my full name but Elijah still hasn’t fully internalized that yet.”
The man in question simply sniffed, the epitome of snobbishness, and Elena laughed. It wasn’t her laugh from before, but she had missed the sensation anyway.
“I’m sorry to be the one to tell you but I don’t think he ever will.”
Cami sighed dramatically, tucking her tray under her arm.
“Yeah, I think I got that. Anyway, enjoy!” She gave them another smile and moved on to another table.
With her gone, Elena was once again confronted by her own feelings, bubbling up to the surface. The drink helped, turning down the faucet of emotions a little, just so she could breathe without it hurting too much. She brought her hands on the table, lowering her drink, her index finger running in circles around the rim.
“Elena?”
This time her name was a question, one she couldn’t hope to evade. She shouldn’t anyway, that’s why she was here in the first place but damn was it hard to force herself to look back up into his eyes.
“What happened?”
He asked the question flat out, the frown returning.
“How do you know anything happened?”
“Because I know that nothing would bring you within a hundred miles of my brother of your own free will.”
“I’m here of my own free will,” she said, too quickly. His frown deepened.
“Is anyone here with you?”
She shook her head vehemently. “No, I came on my own.”
His eyebrows shot up right into his hairline and she supposed she couldn’t blame him. After all, when had the Salvatores ever let her do something on her own, much less when it involved him?
“They…” she swallowed, “they don’t know I’m here. Nobody does.” She released a quiet laugh, but it sounded hollow. “I expect they’re all up in arms back home, wondering where I’ve gone.”
She looked back down at her drink, taking a sip. Her finger beat a restless rhythm against the glass. Slowly, Elijah reached over, giving her time to evade him if she wanted to, and brought his hand to cover hers.
“Elena, sweetheart, what happened?”
The endearment flowed from his lips seemingly without his own accord, if the slight widening of his eyes was any indication. His jaw clicked shut, his eyes flickered back down to their hands, but he didn’t take it back.
Elena rather liked the way it sounded.
She took a breath.
“You know my humanity was off a few weeks back, yes?”
Of course, he knew. She’d practically spat it in his face right before Katherine did a very Katherine thing and snapped her neck like a twig. Idiot.
He just nodded silently.
“Well, what I didn’t tell you back then was that I, hum… I—I was sired. To Damon. He—I… There was… a sire bond. Between us.”
Elijah went deadly still, the motion of his thumb running across the back of her hand stilling. His eyes hardened impossibly, but she knew whatever it was that he was feeling, it wasn’t meant for her. Or rather, it wasn’t aimed at her.
“You were sired,” he said flatly, tonelessly.
And here was the Elijah she remembered from that mansion in the fields.
“It was… a side effect, I just… I—” she faltered, her eyes dropping back to her hands. She tried to escape his grasp but he wouldn’t let her, resuming his caress. He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly, and the tension bled from his shoulders.
“Did he know?”
No use disguising it.
“Yes.”
The air became even more still.
“He knew you were sired to him while the two of you were together?”
Elijah looked faintly sick, the tick in his jaw growing more intense.
“Yes.”
Another deep breath, deeper than the last. She felt his hand twitch over hers, but the soothing motion of his thumb never stopped.
“Did he attempt to free you, at least?” He asked. She shook her head. And then he asked the question she’d been dancing around for the past twenty minutes. “Did he demand you turn it off?”
Elena heard the unspoken question, the one she knew would tip it all over. But she couldn’t lie to him, she’d never been very good at it anyway.
“Yes.”
Everything went quiet, the air became electric, like the calm before the storm, right before the first rumble of thunder could be heard and the first lightning strike the sky clean in half. Right now, Elijah’s eyes were that sky, dark and stormy, a rage so potent in them she was strangely fascinated by it. The muscle of his jaw tensed impossibly more and she worried he might crack it entirely.
She had never seen him so angry.
If not for the soft contact between their hands, she might have been a little scared. Just a little. Because she remembered those words and in that moment, there was perfect clarity.
Always and forever.
She was quite certain that, should she ask him to end her sire, to bring her his head, he would. Happily, gleefully and without a hint of regret. She wasn’t sure she herself would feel any, and wasn’t that a nasty little surprise.
She should feel regret. She knew that even just bringing up the subject with him meant placing Damon (and by extension, Stefan) in the line of fire, but she couldn’t bring herself to regret anything. She’d waited so long to give voice to those feelings—the shame, the disgust, the loathing, the pain. She would not take them back now.
“Say the word, lovely Elena, and he will suffer.”
It really shouldn’t have been even remotely attractive, the way he said it. But it was, and she let herself feel it.
“I… I don’t know what I want.”
Elijah nodded, a tiny movement of his head, but full of understanding. She took a breath. One hard part was done, but there was still the larger question, looming in the back of her skull. She was more than a little worried, though. What she wanted to ask him—what she needed him to do… that would violate the terms of their friendship like never before. She didn’t want to ask it of him but she knew she needed to remember something else, and for the life of her she couldn’t remember what. But she knew it was important. Her brain was shielding her for a reason, but she—the Elena who had had her choices taken from her at every turn since her transformation—needed to know.
Or else how could she hope to feel whole again?
So, she straightened, automatically readying herself to launch into an x, y, z explanation of why that was the best choice—and why she was making it.
“There’s something else.”
Elijah tensed, she was surprised that she managed to notice it at all.
“But we can’t do this here…” she chewed on her lip, eyes flickering between him and the other patrons in the bar. “Is there somewhere… somewhere more…” she gestured wordlessly, tired already.
But Elijah had never needed words to understand her, certainly not with the way he was watching her now. It was strangely reminiscent of a hawk, but it wasn’t discomforting.
Maybe an owl. A wise, old owl trying to figure out the puzzle before him. Funnily, she had never before thought of herself as “puzzling” but judging by his look, she might have to reconsider. She was, in her honest opinion, an incredibly simple person: she loved her family and friends, was far too oblivious of things until it was too late, took her coffee ninety percent black, and never failed to help out when it was needed.
But looking at herself in Elijah’s dark brown eyes the reflection she saw was not one of simplicity.
“There is somewhere more discreet. I doubt anyone will be here at this hour.”
“Not even vampires?” She asked as he helped her out of her chair.
He smirked. Elijah Mikaelson actually honest to god smirked at her.
“They know better.”
She laughed.
“A church? Seriously?”
Elijah made a show of ushering her in, suited up arm extended in invitation.
“It’s not even Sunday.”
“Thankfully.”
In the silence of the church, Elena repressed a giggle with great difficulty. It was quieter than a tomb, inside. Although, she really wasn’t sure who had first come up with this particular phrase, but she’d love to hear their explanation because in her informed opinion, tombs were anything but quiet. There was always the whisper of the wind, the pitter-patter of bugs and rodents foraging in the cracked stones paving the way to the afterlife.
Or maybe that was just her experience since she’d turned.
Huh.
She took in her surroundings. It was obvious that the place had sat deserted for a while but had just been opened up again. There were wood planks lined along the walls and several canvas sheets haphazardly thrown around on the pews.
“Where are we?” She asked, taking in the smell of dust, wood and stone.
Elijah’s footsteps echoed behind her. “St Anne’s Church. Our local priest seems to be out tonight.”
“You know the priest?”
He had been pagan, in his youth, right?
Elijah gave her his signature half-smile in response, dragging a finger through the dust that had settled on one the benches. “He’s Camille’s uncle.”
“Small world.”
“Welcome to New Orleans.”
Exhaling on a chuckle, Elena sat down on one of the benches, somewhere between the door and the altar, at the middle point of the nave. She didn’t know why but she didn’t feel good enough to sit at the front. Elijah took a seat next to her, their shoulders brushing together, his presence grounding her. On a whim, before she could think better of it, she grasped his hand, gripping perhaps a little too tightly. He didn’t complain, simply resuming his earlier soothing caresses on the back of hers.
“I need to ask you something, Elijah.”
“You can ask anything of me, lovely Elena.”
He was sincere. She didn’t have to look at him to know that.
“You probably won’t like it.” She warned.
He tilted his head in question; she heard the soft sound of his collar brushing against his jaw.
She took the plunge and braced herself for the ice cold rush of the water.
“I need you to compel me.”
Whatever it was that Elijah had expected to hear, it certainly wasn’t that.
His shoulders tensed on instinct, his lips parting on a soft gasp. Elena’s hand gripped his tighter, perhaps afraid he would let go.
He never could have, anyway.
Her eyes flickered up to meet his, meeting the wide-eyed stare he couldn’t even begin to disguise. There was a pleading at the bottom of hers, pooling in the form of tears that gathered on her lashes before falling softly, tracing her cheeks with wet streaks. He fought against the urge to wipe them away.
“I need you to help me remember something. There’s… I—” she took in a breath, exhaled, completely oblivious to the feeling that ignited in him when heard the words “need” and “you” in the same sentence, coming from her. She tried again. “There’s something… something I can’t place, a… a darkness that lingers at the edge of my mind when I try to think back on what happened.”
He brought his hand up then, unable to face her tears and remain still. He caught a strand of her and brought it behind her ear, revealing more of her beautiful face. The wide doe eyes that met his could only belong to her.
“What happened when?” He prompted, gently running his thumb back and forth along her jaw.
She sighed, leaning into his touch. He marveled at being able to touch her so freely.
“When I was still sired to Damon.”
The way she bit out the words made his heart clench. There was indeed something in her eyes, a strange haunting of sorts. It darkened the edges of her eyes slightly, turning warm brown into dark chocolate. It would have been quite bewitching if not for her tears.
Centuries of instinct suddenly woke up in his chest, growling as it shook itself awake, unfurling from a long sleep.
“I just… I need to make sure of something.” She rushed on, “I know that my brain is likely trying to protect me but—” she growled softly, tugging her hair back, “but I don’t want to be protected. I want to remember it all.” He brushed his thumb under her eyelid, catching a single tear, making her sigh again. She seemed to shrink, releasing his hand and drawing her arms around herself. He recognized it for the protection mechanism it was.
The beast in his chest growled louder.
“I feel like half myself and I don’t even know why. It’s exhausting.”
She looked back up at him, her beautiful eyes full of unshed tears that threatened to fall at any moment. He was powerless to resist. He knew then he would do whatever it was she asked of him if only to never have to see her cry again.
“Tell me what you need me to do.”
The relief in her eyes was unmistakable. He realized with a start that she had expected him to argue with her. He pursued his lips, caressing her jaw again. These… children truly had worked a number on her.
“I need you to compel me to remember it all. Tell me to remember everything that happened while I was under the influence of the sire bond.” She said in as determined a tone as he had ever heard from her.
And so, he complied.
Gently, he took her face in his hands, holding her tenderly, like she was made of porcelain. He supposed, in his hands, she always would be. And he compelled her, her pupils dilating as she took in his order, body growing first lax and then as taught as a bowstring. Her hand shot out to dig into his thigh and the feeling would have registered as painful if his attention hadn’t been fixed on the utter devastation on her face.
She took a breath but it came out as a sob, a heart wrenching sound that tore him apart.
“He… oh my god, he—” she looked up at him, wide-eyed, and he felt the beast in his heart bare its teeth, “he… he didn’t… oh god—oh god, no, I—I didn’t want to! I didn’t! Oh my god—” she whimpered, and he finally couldn’t take it anymore.
Slowly, gently, he took her in his arms as she sobbed. She molded to him, her small hands gripping his shirt so tightly he was certain she would rip it off. She curled up, half in his lap, and buried her head against his neck, her tears soaking his collar.
He was certain of only one thing as he gently rocked her against him, wincing as the scream she let out into his shoulder tore though his heart.
Damon Salvatore would die a slow, painful death for what he had done.
Elena wasn’t sure how long she cried in Elijah’s arms, only that he never once let her go. He was careful not to hold her too tightly, and she knew he had understood the magnitude of what she had just uncovered.
Damon hadn’t stopped himself from sleeping with her while she was under the influence of the sire bond. He hadn’t tried to free her from it, once he’d known, and he’d carried on as things were and she, helpless to do anything but please him, had done exactly just that.
But now, with the veil lifted, she knew in her heart that she hadn’t wanted to. It was too soon after Stefan, too early in her transition. The feelings of love had been heightened by her Turning and by the sire bond, turning into a deadly cocktail of dependence. If only she had known.
She whimpered, a broken sob wrenching its way out of her—how many did she have left? It couldn’t be many, she was so very tired.
Elijah’s arms tightened around her, his hand stroking her hair gently. She felt the ghost of his lips at the crown of her head, the touch doing more to calm her than anything had so far.
She hadn’t wanted to sleep with Damon. But she had anyway, forced by the sire bond.
And it should matter to her that he hadn’t known that. That he hadn’t known that she didn’t want him like that, not yet anyway, but it didn’t. It should matter that, technically, he had also been a victim of the sire bond, unable to stop it, but it didn’t. Because once he had known, he hadn’t taken steps to help her out of it and she wasn’t in a position to help herself.
He got exactly what he wanted.
A Katherine do-over.
Elena barely registered the anger before she was flipping an entire bench over, throwing it against the walls of the church. There was a vicious feeling in her chest, clawing its way out and she lashed out again, ripping the legs off of the bench and breaking them in half, the wood splintering into her hands, drawing blood from cuts that healed almost immediately.
Fury, that was the feeling.
It was so unfamiliar that she was momentarily stunned by the sheer force of it.
Her eyes flashed red, veins rippling on her cheeks and she flipped another bench on its head before collapsing on the floor, crying again.
She had loved him. Had been on her way to falling in love with him.
And he had betrayed her.
She was so very tired. Tired of feeling, tired of remembering, tired of existing. The pain of that betrayal, the shame that came with it, added to the duller, less pronounced pain of his hand in shutting off that part of her that made her her protruded from her heart in sharp edges and she distantly wondered if that’s what being staked felt like.
Until she felt Elijah’s arms around her once more. Effortlessly, he scooped her up into his arms, cradling her like she was something infinitely precious to him. She barely registered the blur of movements and the wind in her hair that indicated he was running. She was so bone tired that the comforting warmth of the blanket he draped over her before running a hand down the side of her face barely registered with her either.
Through the haze of her tears, she saw his face, eyebrows drawn together in worry. He tucked the blanket a little higher under her chin and she managed to grasp onto the edges, burrowing under it.
“Is there anything you need?” His voice was pained, a small crack the dead giveaway to the unbelievable fury she could feel rolling off him.
She shook her head, sniffling.
“Do you want me to call your friends? Caroline, perhaps?”
All she could do was shrug, entirely unsure about everything. Her world had just toppled over. But Elijah hadn’t. He was here, as stalwart as he had always been and there was at least an inkling of hope that lit up in her at that.
She had been right.
She was right to trust him.

The Vampire Diaries Universe Fic Recs
Once again putting my unhealthy amount of fanfic knowledge to good use. Here's my list (non-exhaustive) of the best vampire diaries & originals fanfics. Includes Klaroline, Bamon, Kolvina, and more.
Bamon Fics
Before I Take My Flesh Away by Orig1n - the fic where Bonnie and Damon are comically bonded, and she hops around in his timeline pre (and during) the series. Tragically unfinished, but completely incredible! Kudos for developing Stefan and Damon as brothers and making me not hate Lily Salvatore. Also love the Arthurian lore.
if you love me (don't let go) by sarcastic_fina - this is a heartbreaking deconstruction of Bonnie and her victim mentality, and shows the strength of not only her romantic relationship with Damon, but her friendships with Caroline, Matt, and Tyler. So sad, but so good!
Bloodstone by cactusfinch - Bonnie time travels to 1864 (with all the problems entailed). Her relationship with Damon is done well here, and her friendship (sort of!) with Katherine is fun as hell.
rest for the wicked (hope for the weary) by castelia - Damon and Bonnie go on a road trip together after the prison word. I am a sucker for mutual pining, and this fic does it so well!
Fifty-Five Years by turningofflights - written from Elena's perspective, after she reads Bonnie's diary entries and learns how Bonnie and Damon fell in love. A bittersweet, believable love story for Bonnie and Damon.
Other Bonnie Bennett Ship Fics
The Edge of Night by Szajnie - a crossover between season 3 of the Originals and season 7 of the Vampire Diaries, where Bonnie goes to New Orleans. She's absolutely in her element here as the most powerful New Orleans witch, takes the supernatural world by storm, and everyone has a happier ending because of it (including her!). Absolutely love her friendships with Davina, Vincent, and Freya, and shout-out for being the only fic to make me care about Cami! Truly, this is great. The NOLA gang is the family Bonnie deserves, and the Bonnie/Klaus is so believable.
Kai Parket Screwed Us (Until Bonnie Bennett Screwed Him) by hysteriaww - exactly what it sounds like. Bonnie shows up to help Josie and Lizzie deal with the prison world and her and Kai's insane relationship weirds everyone out. Deals with the Gemini Coven in a really interesting way. Hilarious, and with mild Damon and Alaric bashing. BonKai.
Season One, Epsidoes One-Three by BorgiaBabe - a rewrite of the first three episodes of TVD with Bonnie as a proper main character. Her love interest is a softer Kai, and it's great! Bonnie really deserves better.
the night light hits off, turning kisses to bites by donutworry - an insane, dark, twisted Bonnie and Kai romance, where they're the only ones in the prison world from the start. I absolutely love the Gemini Coven lore in this fic.
Klaroline Fics
Make them bow by for_darkness_shows_the_stars - Klaus appears in season 1 of the vampire diaries. it's Klaroline, but still super gen, and all the characters get their own compelling arcs in it. Especially love the way Elena and Stefan are written.
One of A Kind, Two of a Kind, or the Three Musketeers by Phandancee74 - Caroline is an ancient nymph who was erased from memory by Malivore. She still helps the Mystic Falls gang out (and her relationship with Bonnie is great)! The Klaus/Caroline is angsty and lovely.
Calling on a Friend by Phandancee74 - 5 year old Josie gets Klaus's number. Shenanigans ensue. Short and cute as hell.
Sanctuary in their Hearts by thatsanotherlovestory - Caroline leaves before the season 8 wedding, and heads to New Orleans with Klaus. A fun story, but still so sad Bonnie didn't get her happy ending in it. The twins are so cute in this.
Let's do the Time Loop again! by kcatdino - on the night of the sacrifice, both Klaus and Caroline get stuck in a time loop. It's so funny to watch them get more and more deranged.
sweet present of the present by VintageLilac - it's Caroline, not Rebekah, who raises Hope while New Orleans is at war. I absolutely love Katherine in this fic, and though Hayley gets the short end of the stick it's written quite well.
The Wolf by Yokan - a witch version of Caroline is the one pregnant with Klaus's baby in the originals. And while season 1 doesn't change a lot because of it, the later one's definitely do! I love the Klaus and Caroline relationship, and Caroline & Elijah friendship.
Elena Gilbert-Centric Fic
The stars were brightly shining by adlyb - a fic where Elena is pregnant with Klaus's baby. It's so hard to describe! A little twisted, a little sweet, and a thorough depiction of Elena's mental state.
The Forgotten by MissNMikaelson - Elena time travels and gets dropped in the middle of Klaus and Kol's war in New Orleans, circa 1914. The flashback scenes in the fic are great! Eventual Kol/Elena.
blame it on the stardust by allwritenow - the fic that looks into if Elena's doppelganger nature affected her more. And a truly beautiful Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena friendship.
Off by a Single Degree by Tarroko - when Elena's phone dies, Damon walks her home and never compels away her memories, and her parents never die. This softer, sweeter Elena is so believable, and I love the way canon immediately shifts. Amazing development of her parents, Anna, and Enzo. Delena.
Katherine Pierce Centric Fic
afflictions eclipsed by glory by passionesque - in 1864, right after the fire in Mystic Falls, Elijah finds Katherine. They team up together against Klaus. This deals with Katherine's trauma and cunning so well! A slow build to Elijah/Katherine, involving him acknowledging his faults.
General Mystic Falls Gang Fics
in another life (i would let you go) by sarcastic_fina - Elena wakes up in a world where she isn't the doppelganger and no one knows her. An interesting deconstruction of the affects she's had on her friends.. Manages to be both Elena-bashing and sympathetic at the same time. Minor Steroline and Bamon.
Originals Family Feels
It All Comes Crumbling Down by AlwaysAkin - can I do a self-rec? I'm doing a self-rec. Hope is born a century earlier, and grows up in New Orleans with the Mikaelsons. I'm particularly proud of my Hope-Marcel bond and young!Hope voice in this one.
A Twist Through Time by fandom_lover_101 - Hope is sent back in time to the Vampire Diaries season 3. She messes everything up. Absolutely love the slow Hope & Klaus relationship built here, and her friendship with Elena is cute too. Minor Klaroline, Delena, and Handon.
Always & Tomorrow by Viretta - another tragically unfinished fic. Set after Hope jumps into Malivore in Legacies, it involves the dead Mikaelsons being resurrected, and the kids from the Salvatore School travelling to New Orleans (with a newly activated tribrid Hope). This is a Mikaelson family story in the bloodiest, best way. Has Handon and Klaroline in addition to the canon originals couples.
if no one in the entire world cared about you (did you really exist at all?) by nevermore_evermore - Elijah is erased from the minds of everyone he loves. Kol is (eventually) there to help him through it. An interesting take on Elijah's place in the family.
A Million Mistakes by mon-amour-eternel - a fic where Caroline is also an original, and her and Klaus are Marcel's parents. Sadly unfinished, especially considering the rarity of Marcel-centric fic!
But Stand Brave, Life-Liver by crownjrose - A Hayley-centric fic! Her foster parents come to New Orleans and see the way her life turned out. Interesting closure for Hayley, and a sweet Klaus/Hayley relationship.
Kolvina Fic
(finally) you and me are the lucky ones by yorkes - a long one-shot where Kol and Davina are soulmates. It's cute as hell! And Kol and Davina really grow into each other in this one.
The Vixen and the Fox by BlueBooThalassophile - be warned, this read is long as hell. But it's also great. Davina time travels to the Vampire Diaries season 4, gets involved in the fight against Silas, and everything goes sideways immediately. Love Davina's friendship with Hayley and bond with Marcel in this one. Every character in both shows appears in this one.

Hi Yokan 👋
I have questions
First question - how’re you doing? Hope life hasn’t been too stressful for you!
Second question - have you been reading anything that has really resonated with you in the last couple of weeks/months.
Third (and most weird) question - if you could choose a superpower what would you choose? (Dumb question I know😂)
Fourth question - most proud moment in your writing career.
And final question - how’s writing going with the Wolf? Hope you’ve not struggled too much in starting it!
hope your doing okay! ❤️
Hi, friend! How's it going?
Can I just say, it's so lovely to get all these questions! ✨ I love this so much, thank you! 💝
First: I'm ok! Work is always stressful these days, I don't think it's going to give me a break until at least September. 😂 But it's not the worst right now. Tomorrow is my birthday and I just the best piece of chocolate cake humanity has to offer, so I'm cool right now. 😇 Just wish tomorrow wasn't Monday. 🥲
Second: I have read 7 books this year so far, but nothing that's stood out as being great, sadly. :( Still haven't had a 5 stars. I finished a thriller called None of This is True by Lisa Jewell which was pretty good, if you're into thrillers. 4 stars, maybe.
In terms of fanfiction, I've have been reading random pieces of non-Kc fic, as per usual 😂 But I have also read The Little Wolf by @morningstargirl666, which is absolutely fantastic, if you haven't read it yet. It's a retelling of the show's canon about the Original family and how they were turned into vampires, with special focus on Klaus' werewolf heritage, and it's so, so, so good! And so much better than canon! It actually gives depth to the siblings' relationships, and it has so many little nods to what we know of them in the future. Beautifully woven! I have also read Till I Tasted You by @kirythestitchwitch, which is a canon divergent AU where a spell goes wrong and Caroline ends up finding out Klaus is her soulmate. It's hot, it has absolutely nom-nom-able dialogues and A+++ interactions between KC, it features Damon getting his ass kicked! I don't know, it's just the whole package. 🤌
Third: This would be a very weird question if I hadn't spent an irrational amount of time thinking about that. 😂 I guess it really depends on what kind of universe you mean, because it varies. But I would very much like to have telekinesis like Prue in Charmed.
Fourth: That's a tough one. I'm an extremely critical person of my own writing, so it's hard for me to feel proud of stuff I've done tbh. 😂 But I think I was pretty proud when I finished The Wolf 2. It's not my personal favorite thing I've ever written, but I think it's probably my best written story. I really like the final part of that story, the way I managed to tie it back to TVD, I think it was very full circle and made the story a lot more unique. I also had a lot of fun writing the Mikaelsons and Caroline back in Mystic Falls after the time they spent in Nola. 😂 So maybe that.
Final: It's... going. 🥲 I took a pause after writing two chapters back to back, tried to work on some other stuff, and then I circled back to it. I've actually just started the next chapter, have a couple of scenes. I don't think this first chapter will be a long one, but I think it will take a lot of editing tbh. 😂 I haven't been at most inspired right now, so not sure how much of what I've written will stand the test of a re-read. I had plans to get a chapter out before the end of the month, but I'm not sure I'll manage it. 🥲 We'll see how this week goes. Pray for me.
Thanks for the questions, friend! I hope you have a wonderful week! ✨

Hi,
Can you please help me find a fanfic in which Caroline goes to NOLA. Klaus was cursed by the witches to stay as wolf. He snaps at anyone except Caroline. I think the fic is not completed yet.
Thank you...
I think I've read a couple of those, does anyone have links to their favorites?

#8 - Haylye telling Klaus she wants to take Hope away from NOLA and she thinks he should go with them. To keep their family together and to make sure Hope doesn’t live the kind of life they’ve had to.  [ Season 4 based ]
Jackson Plots !
#1 - I want a plot where Muse A and Muse B have been married for 15 years (they got married at 16 because Muse A got pregnant) They have 2 kids and are currently going through a divorce. But there are so many feelings still there and they keep falling into the same routine with each other because they’re still in love but they’ve grown into different people. Muse B wants to work things out but Muse A isn’t sure how with how they’ve both changed. [ Semi based on the movie The Story of Us ]

#1 - A plot based on the movie Safe Haven
#2 - give me a thread where Hayley finds a baby after they give Hope to Rebekah and brings it back to the compound like – Uh I’m going to keep it guys K?
#3 - But like I want No Humanity Steroline to come hang out with Dark Klayley. Just saying.
#4 - AU based on Life Unexpected
#5 - Girl gets pregnant and her boyfriend (the love of her life) marries her, but two months into the marriage he decides he doesn’t want the responsibility of a child so he takes off. But his brother who’s been secretly in love with said girl all through along helps her through the pregnancy and once the baby is born. Cut to 2-3 years later and her husband walks back into their lives to find things are a bit different.
#6 - I want a plot where some witchy thing happens and Hayley wakes up to find her daughter gone and not a single person knows who she is. It’s like she never existed - Hope either. And in order to break the spell she needs to get at least 1 person to actually remember who she is.

I've read many stories where Caroline turns up at Klaus's door — she's worried, unsure whether he still wants her, whether he's still waiting.
I want to read one where she goes to him, not a century later (maybe a decade?). And she doesn't knock on his door, wait with baited breath fearful and apprehensive - but walks in like she owns the place (which she does) and reorganizes his closet because her clothes need more space.
And everyone is scared and worried that she's another one of his crazy exes but Klaus simply shrugs and asks her if he should knock the next room down to turn it into a walk-in closet because this one doesn't have enough space for her shoes. I would LOVE some bashing in there (Cami, Hayley, Aurora - any, all - I'm not picky).

Spotlight Sunday: KC Fic Rec
Tumblr media
For this week’s spotlight Sunday, I’m recommending:
‘The Escape of New Orleans’ - littlebird14
Honestly, this is one that I tend to go back to now and then because it feels like it quenches that feeling of angst and frustration that I felt in the TVD/TO crossover episode where Caroline went searching for Klaus in New Orleans with her daughters and ended up NOT meeting him. I mean, I was like GAH FFS! Granted, he was trapped in chains but that’s exactly what this story deals with - a perfect dream scenario where Caroline not only ends up meeting Klaus but her daughters aid in freeing him from his cage! Must read as a canon fix-it :D

Caroline surprises Klaus by suddenly appearing with Bonnie Bennet in New Orleans. She wants to see if there’s still something between them, without being completely sucked in by Klaus and his world. Klaus decides then and there to persuade her to stay for good.
Note: This fic is a WIP, which I don’t usually rec, but it was last updated in 2016, so I don’t think we should expect an ending any time soon xD BUT! It is cute and funny, so here it is :)

How do you think Klaus would have proposed to Caroline to be dating? It haunts me...
I’m so sorry, I took forever to answer this because there are so many possibilities!
But in my head, it would actually be Caroline who goes to find Klaus and from there, they would just fall into a relationship as she finally accepts that part of herself that wants him. And obviously, he’s never made it a secret that he wants her.
I don’t think that they need an official proposition, like “Will you be my girlfriend/boyfriend” or whatever. It seems a little juvenile and out of character for them. I think it’ll be more like a natural progression from the meaning of her 'pursuing’ him because if they were ever to meet again, I would think it’s because she’s ready to take that next step for him to be her last love.
^ This is clearly non-TO compliant haha

You know there are healthier things in Nola to try, right?
Do you want to go there? Because I have a power point ready of ·why we should do the hole New Orleans thing” and “why you should shout your mouth before I tell my mom you kill witches for fun” ready

HELP - Looking for a Klaroline fic
Really wish someone would reply, I’ve searched high and low for this story and can’t seem to find it - hopefully because I’m looking with the wrong words...
This is what I remember about it:
Caroline was in college (Whitmore maybe?), Klaus in NOLA. Caroline had a different roommate - an art student with colourful hair, whom she had promised to pose nude for, for the roommate’s assignment. Caroline struggled posing nude and accidentally thought of her time with Klaus, which resulted in her roommate asking what she was thinking of, to which she replied ‘Klaus’. This was quoted under the painting and it was put up in a gallery as part of the roommate’s assignment. The roommate had promised the nude portrait was not going to be sold, but Klaus did end up buying it.
Caroline and roommate did also end up going to a NOLA club (I think??) where there were already rumours of disappearing vampires and some special drug. Caroline ends up drugged and tells her roommate to run before she gets taken away. Klaus finds out about it (don’t remember if he gets called by the roommate, Caroline’s friends or someone else) and travels to Caroline’s college with his family (again, could be wrong but i feel like Elijah was there and tried to unsuccessfully compel the roommate) where they also meet Caroline’s friends from Mystic Falls. I believe at that point or just before a videotape arrives for Klaus basically saying he needs to surrender in place of Caroline (or something like that) and he goes on to locate her i believe and finds out they’re humans doing experiments on vamps and they want him as he’s the original hybrid.
Last I read this story it was incomplete and on AO3 I believe. I don’t remember neither the title of it or the author... Only that it takes place after TVD 5X11 and obvs Klaus is in NOLA and Care in college. If someone knows it please let me know, even if it’s been deleted or you’re unsure it’s the right story it would still help. I’ll still be looking for it, but would appreciate anyone who may recognise it helping out. Hope the info was sufficient, I feel like it’s a very specific story arc.
Thank you all in advance.

I just completed the final chapter of The Wolf 2 and sent it over to @recyclingss and I feel so empty. :( I’m saying goodbye to them all over again.
It’s so weird. I spent such a crazy long time writing almost exclusively in this universe, long, long, long, WAY TOO LONG hours reading and reading again and imagining scenes in my head and trying to find songs for each of the most important scenes, and then reading the scenes again with the songs playing to make sure they’d work well, and now I kind of feel like they’re mine a little bit. Even though they’re not. But this universe :(( became my baby :(( and it feels so sad to see them go.

Klaroline Fic Rec List for Ennie
A while ago when we were doing the fic rec ask game, @enniec123 asked me to make a rec list of KC fics from FF.net, because let’s face it, AO3 is much more user-friendly and the main haunt these days. That being said, there are some hidden treasures on FF.net, and I remember scouring through there when I first entered the fandom. So here the list is, but a few things first:
- The list is, obviously, purely subjective. About half of these I read so early on I don’t even remember what they are about, other than the little mark of star I left in the document title to suggest that I enjoyed them when I was curating my fic database lol.
- Some of these you might also find on AO3. I honestly didn’t check.
- I’m mostly putting things that I think Ennie might have not read on this. So some of the classics, like Two Lost Souls which I absolutely adored and worshipped back in the days, are not here. The authors and works I’ve mentioned in the previous fic rec asks are also not included here. However, some authors I just have to highlight - AddrianaDestiny, Scarletborn, theonetruebear, xxredwineandambience, bellamywinchester, off the top of my head. If you haven’t read their amazing works, please please do.
Okay, disclaimer done. Now let’s go!
Over the Love by allmylovesallmysecrets. WIP, no humanity Klaus, Elijah recruits Caroline to help, beautifully written, so much angst. Chained to Me by the same author also looked really promising, it’s a mafia AU with arranged marriage or something like that. But - I remember skipping through to the end first and spoiling myself and I did not like that (nothing to do with the artistic choice of the fic), so I didn’t end up reading this one.
Demeter’s Daughter by AmericanWordsmith. WIP, no humanity Caroline goes to NOLA and wreaks havoc. This one is so good, with an almost evil Caroline. And the humanity back on scene is !@##$#$%.
Inferno by AmericanWordsmith. WIP, post apocalypse, KC meets again after years. Hope is there but can be ignored. This one’s also great! (For those of you who like smut, check out The Mikaelsons by the same author. Caroline accidently turns into a succubus, with all the Mikaelson siblings having sex with her this and that.)
Lead Us into Temptation by Anastasia Dreams. Actually, everything by this author. I don’t even remember much about the plot in this one, but I still remember the awe I was in while reading. Historical silk dresses whispering in the long corridors - somehow I remember this appearing in one of the scenes, and it became my impression of the author too.
Ripples by AutumnDream26. All human, dark, crime, mystery. This is not usually my type, so it must be really good.
The Wide and Open Road by Biana Delacroix. Post S4, KC road trip across America. I don’t think this one needs to be recced, since it really belongs to the fandom classics pile. But I loved it so much - every time I think of it I still see the sunlight in Grand Canyon while Klaus and Caroline take a selfie.
Renegade Knights by Biana Delacroix. Set in NOLA, with Kolroline (?) friendship and so many shenanigans. I don’t want to spoil anything other than it’s amazing. The characterization of Kol is hands down one of the best I’ve seen.
All the Magic We Cannot See & The Magic that Binds Us by Biana Delacroix. HP AU two-shots with soulmate KC. Enough said.
Anything by Chel 90210. This is an author that just gets to me. The subtleties of emotions are to die for. Not all of them are smutty, but a lot are.
Witness Your Future by CitrusyGoddess. Time travel fic where apparently Klaus travels to the future? This is one of those I remember nothing beyond “it was good” because it’s been so long.
An Endless Ending by comeonbabyplaymesomething. One shot in which Caroline goes to help Rebekah(?) take care of baby Hope who is supposed to be in the hiding (so...TO S2?). Poetic, beautiful, so much angst that, to appropriate a saying in my own language, your liver hurts. But good.
Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner by comeonbabyplaymesomething. WIP, many years Post series, KC Reunion at a time of crisis. A lot of pent up frustration and angst, but Klaus is as smitten and protective as ever.
In the Same Ol’ Crescent City by D-chan. Post series, Caroline goes to NOLA, so... Hope. But I remember it being a good read.
The Contract by Desi44. Another one of those fandom legends. WIP, AH, marriage for green card, so sharp and witty. Fun fact: I learned about Ann Taylor from this because Klaus mocks Caroline about it. Yeah, that’s the detail I remembered.
Sweet Child of Mine by elisabethjj. I have mixed feelings about this because on one hand, what happens to Caroline in this is so unfair (basically what happens re preganancy in Canon, but in a more insulting way); on the other hand, the writing is impeccable. WIP, sometime during TO timeline, liver-ache level angst. Basically - read this if you want to hurt yourself. (For a fun time read Burns Holes in Your Skin by the same author, sex pollen trope in the form of Silas’s mind control. Some of the best smut I’ve ever seen.)
Wild Season by em.matheson. Caroline time travels before Klaus came to town, to when the Originals were human. Such a lovely piece, soft and quiet. I’m talking 11th century married Caroline washing Klaus’s clothes in the harsh winter cold, and Klaus washes it for her when Mikael’s not looking while Caroline warms her hands in the fur he hunted for her - that kind of soft.
Ubiquitous by G. M. Portraepic. Post 4x09, epic saga, such amazing plot and characterization. The only thing that kills me is that in the epilogue Caroline has to leave for some reason and the sequel is WIP.
With or Without You by Gottabeelove. One of the first I’ve read in the fandom, AU since some point in S4, beautifully written. Introduced the sunset seen from Piazzale Michelangelo to me, and I couldn’t get it (and a mesmerized Caroline) out of my mind when I visited.
The Canterville Ghost by ihobbitses. AH historical AU, based on the movie.
The Trouble with Spells by ilovetf. S4 AU, spell gone wrong, Caroline is stuck with Klaus. From what I can remember, really interesting plot and great chemistry - the pent up sexual tension is off the charts.
Through a Glass, Darkly by immortalpen. S4 AU, enemies and shenanigans, I remember Caroline having vivid nightmares nonstop and have to go find a solution together with Klaus. So... lots of angst. (I wanted to rec The Devil in Me by the same author, which is a Regency AU, but for some reason I can’t find it on the their page.)
To Sleep, Perchance to Dream by Kae A. Very interesting premise (if I remember correctly, Caroline in an AHAU dreams of their supernatural life), such spare and beautiful writing.
Just a Ghost, Running Scared Part 1 & Part 2 by kely-jo. Somewhere post S5, with BAMF Caroline, an OC as Klaus’s daughter, a giant scheme, and at least 2 do-overs (as in, very bad things happen and Caroline finds a way to turn back time).
Animal I have become by kely-jo. WIP, werewolf mates, Alpha Caroline.
Anything by liarfaker. Another author that simply leaves me in stunned silence and awe. I haven’t seen many who can do humor-humor-humor-stab-in-the-heart-humor-happiness-poignant-soft-mush so good.
I’ll Be Your Last by lok1sgurl. If you can look past the first person narrative, this is actually really well-written (trust me, I’m not usally a first-person fan either). WIP, S5 AU, Klaus takes Caroline to NOLA.
Missing by Lotr Addicted. WIP, S3 or S4 AU, KC kisnapped and trapped together somewhere for some reason and are forced to keep each other company.
When the Bleeding Stops & These Things that Heal by LoveIsATemple. Post S5(?), Caroline gets bitten by a werewolf and Klaus rushes to save her; Months later, Caroline goes to NOLA to return the favor. So, so, good. Honestly, probably everything by the author (though I haven’t read them all yet) cause it’s that good.
Loopholes by mscyanide. From what I remember, Caroline gets kidnapped (not by who you might think), and ends up in NOLA. Interesting world building, really intriguing plot.
The Devil in White by Reels. WIP, Post S3 AU, Caroline gets saved by Klaus and travels the world with him even though she’s not there yet. KC world travel fun and fluff, also lots of angst. The Klaus characterization is so on point in this - in love, but dark, volatile, maybe even more so because he’s in love. Yet he holds back his fangs at the last minute, so to speak.
Down in New Orleans by Sabby1. Post 4x20 AU, Caroline goes to NOLA. Honestly I especailly forget the plots when it comes to the “Caroline goes to NOLA” I don’t even know why, but I do remember the characterization being amazing in this - not only Klaus and Caroline, but Elijah and Rebekah as well.
If I Never See You Again by Sandrine C. Post 4x20 AU, KC stay in touch via phone. Lovely piece.
The Games We Play You Always Win by SophisticatedFangirling. WIP, post 4x01, KC stuck together and decide to play a dare or some kind of game with each other. Seriously good writing, with something I love so much with KC fanfic - mind games and power play. Caroline shines when she gets to show off her brilliant mind.
Variation on a Theme & Another Variation on a Theme & Yet Another Variation on a Theme by ssklarolinewrites. Post S4, after a one time thing (the first one, especially the first chapter, is pure smut), KC tries long distance relationship. Fluff, so much fluff, maybe the best fluff I’ve ever seen. One of my feel-good fics.
Words Are Weapons by ssklarolinewrites. No humanity Caroline goes to NOLA, a lot more fun than you might think, featuring a Caroline with no filter, and a very frustrated but indulging Klaus.
Beautiful War & Thistle and Weeds & Heartlines by Tears of Ebon-Grey. Caroline goes to NOLA post S4 but doesn’t stay (baby as foil, major angst ahead). Really beautiful writing, but if you don’t like the baby plotline or romantic Enzoline then this is not your thing.
Sweet Dreams by Tears of Ebon-Grey. Post 5x20, Mikael comes to Caroline’s dreams to exact revenge against his son.
Royal Decisions by these-dreams-go-on. Historical AHAU with Queen Caroline of England in need of a husband, and decides on Klaus. Such a brilliant piece that I play it in my mind from time to time before I go to sleep.
I Wrap My Hands around Your Neck with Love by UglyTruth. No humanity Caroline goes to NOLA. Caroline is ruthless in this (she kills Cami to send Klaus a warning) but the writing’s very well-done.
Bloodlines (post 5x11, pregnant Caroline goes to NOLA), What if I Fall (wolf Caroline leaving home at a young age and builds a special bond with Klaus after chance meeting), Always and Forever (S1/S2 rewrite with Caroline meeting the Originals before her friends and deals with her trauma), and Cascading Effects (set in S2, Caroline is Klaus’s soulmate and the reincarnation of someone from the Originals’ human era) by Winged Lady Colette. All WIPs, but all with amazing plot and a Klaus that is basically trash for Caroline. So many soft moments in there I’d love to re-experience.
A Safer Tomorrow by WriteLover5. Post 3x21, I remember nothing beyond my fond feelings for this fic.
So... I think that’s all for now. Hope you enjoy!

I see that you’re a klonnie, so how do you think the tvdu as a whole would’ve changed if bonnie got pregnant with hope instead of hayley?
It's a fairly new ship for me!
But I haven't considered Bonnie getting pregnant with her version of Baby Hope. Mostly because of how Hope was born and how traumatic it was in canon for Hayley and Hope. I just don't want Bonnie to have that trauma for her on top of everything else.
I wonder how Bonnie would end up in New Orleans. IMO if Bonnie were to get pregnant with baby Hope there is no way I want Bonnie to remain in Mystic Falls, for a mystical pregnancy where she doesn't have any community.
Despite all the dangers NOLA has, the one thing NOLA has above Mystic Falls is an active witch community and that's something I wish Bonnie to have. A community and a support system. Especially since she won't be the only witch doing last-minute magical saves.
I think, maybe this is how it goes: Bonnie breaks free from whatever Professor Shane has over Bonnie, Klaus and Elijah have left for New Orleans early after Katherine's letter.
A month later Bonnie realizes she was pregnant after an ill-advised one-night stand with Klaus and out of confusion and fear she goes to NOLA for answers.
Here might be some changes:
Bonnie and Klaus are more of a love match than Hayley and Klaus's platonic, divorced parents' energy.
Bonnie and Davina become friends, and Bonnie doesn't tolerate Klaus's bullying of Davina. And while she appreciates Marcel and Davina's familial bond Bonnie doesn't like Marcel using Davina for his own ends.
Bonnie is repulsed by the French Quarter Witches' Harvest girl's practice. Later, she will learn more about the Treme witch covens (Vincent Griffiths' coven) which are more of Bonnie's liking. She also isn't that fond of the Ancestors.
Hayley still goes to New Orleans because of the crescents -- and the thing that keeps her alive is Elijah's attraction to Hayley. Although, I'm not sure what will make Hayley amenable to the Mikaelsons without the tie of Hope to the family.
I'll make Bonnie and Hayley friends. Hayley saves Bonnie when Agatha and other French Quarter witches try something against Bonnie.
The other difference would be, that Bonnie would be more of an active participant earlier in the series. Hayley took a while to find her footing because witches and vampires and having a miracle baby put Hayley on the backfoot until she found her pack.
Bonnie and Klaus's miracle baby will have the Qetsiyah-Bennet line and the Mikaelson witch line. I don't know if Bonnie's Hope would also be a wolf, or if canon!Hope was a wolf because both her parents are werewolves. But let's say Bonnie's baby Hope is also a tribrid but she's more powerful as a witch because of the Qetsiyah-Bennet power.
Originals!Sophie Devereaux is going to learn fast not to mess with Bonnie Bennet. Davina is spared getting the burden of becoming Regent of the Nine Covens before she's ready and Bonnie becomes the Regent.
A war with the Guerreras still ensue-- Bonnie was able to draw enough ancestral magic to survive Genevieve killing her as she gave birth to her baby Hope.
Bonnie helps Hayley against Celeste as they untangle the Crescent Pack curse, earning Hayley’s and the Crescent pack's loyalty.
Bonnie has no patience with Klaus and Marcel's territorial war and says as much, and as often.
Bonnie also wouldn't appreciate how Elijah talks about her child as if baby Hope was the second coming and as an instrument to Klaus's redemption and says as much to him.
Rebekah hasn't interacted with Bonnie much in Mystic Falls but she quickly realizes she likes Bonnie.
Elena and Caroline visit Bonnie regularly in NOLA and Bonnie's Hope grow up with a lot of aunts around her.
Bonnie also goes toe to toe with Dahlia because no witch is going to steal her baby from her, especially since she just got baby!Hope back.
Esther's also going to learn not to mess with Bonnie Bennet.
Baby!Hope will grow-up biracial which has its own challenges but she has a vast support network who will help her along and never leave nor disappear from her life.
Bonnie Bennet doesn't die in season 5 of this alternate Originals. Also, there's none of this nonsense where Klaus disappear from their child's life for years because he was ashamed. Bonnie will track him down until he confesses what happened -- that Hope saw him in the middle of a killing spree.
Freya and Bonnie also end up becoming friends and Freya welcome Bonnie in her heart as her sister. This means when they're all threatened no one relies on just Bonnie to do last-minute magical saves. On her side, Bonnie has all of the Nine Covens of New Orleans, Vincent Griffith, and Freya Mikaelson.
Vincent tells Bonnie early on: "You are not your friends nor your family's witch for hire. You have your own life. They can't expect you to always sacrifice your life for their lives."
No one in NOLA is impressed with the Salvatore brothers and everyone tells them so. This has little to do with Bonnie, it's just cathartic for me. (Look I like them in specific circumstances, especially Damon. I just find it hilarious how the Salvatore brothers think they're hot shit when they didn't even know werewolves existed).

any fun klefaroline headcanons?
ohhh, let me think
klaus is literally a Grumpy Old Man/British Kitten personified which is why stefan and caroline have taken to calling him grandpa
whenever klaus does his little Murdery Things steroline shake their heads and make the Disappointed Face in the exact same way and it's truly a sight to behold. they're so in sync. it's almost choreographed except not. in the presence of his Moral Conscience Personified klaus becomes a contrite and regretful five year old. so fascinating to watch
caroline and stefan are constantly trying to convince klaus to go out in the sun and enjoy himself but as aforementioned he's a fucking grandpa. for example once they tried to get him to go to road trippin' to the nearest beach and he absolutely refused. then stefan dropped a casual line about how he wouldn't be wearing a shirt and klaus was all too eager to hop in the car
hayley made him take the iconic Mother Trucker hat before he left, caroline took a toooon of pics
klaus and lizzie have the same sassy/disapproving/scowly faces. caroline likes to say she inherited it from klaus even tho they're not even related
klefan + elijah 3 men and a baby au except it's a teenage girl and that teenage girl is hope
i once read a fic where klaus threw landon down the fucking stairs bc he and lizzie were making out (it was a landizzie fake dating au where kc got married if you're interested) and i imagine klaus and stefan offer those services any time it's necessary while josie, lizzie, and hope make panicked faces and are like pls god no
steroline honeymoon vacay in paris and klaus holds down the fort at the salvatore school - mostly bc he enjoys terrorizing the shit out of the kids, embarrassing hope by being the dad that spies on her, and making alaric uncomfortable lmao
klaus regularly goes to nola to see his family and the one time when klaus is Officially Introducing caroline and stefan to them he becomes a shy teenage boy reaching a milestone in his relationship which ofc freya and rebekah tease him mercilessly about
the entire family (and yes, that includes mikaelsons, significant others, magical babies, extended family) crams into one dining room so they can eat together (minus alaric because who needs him and his emo headmaster beard) and it is as one would expect super chaotic
lmao sorry this kind of deviated from klefaroline whoops
klaus has a face that neither caroline or stefan can say no to. they call it his evil hybrid puppy eyes
it works vise versa all caroline/stefan have to do is pout if they're asking for a favor and he will literally be ready to do whatever it is they need
ok i'm tired now lol but i hope you liked these i poured my entire heart into them
