ʚїɞ Self Aware! Hazbin Hotel
ʚїɞ Their reaction after becoming self aware and first thoughts about reader! part 1
ʚїɞ Alastor and Lucifer Morningstar
ʚїɞ Keep in mind English is not my first language, so you may find mistakes!
ʚїɞ Word count: just about 1.7k
ʚїɞ I planned for all hotel characters first but then I realized how much I'm thinking on each paragraph and its details that I decided to just do 2-3 charas per part😭
Tumblr media
Very few characters would notice something wrong on the first watch of the show, but wouldn't realize, nor become self-aware until the 2nd or further watch.
While everyone's reaction would be different with different amounts of stages before total acceptance of the situation, they all would share the first emotion, simple disbelief. They would first need to even process the fact that they're not real, that they were created solely for the purpose of entertaining… something? Someone? In a completely different Universe. That everything that they thought had happened to them before they died didn't actually happen, they were never alive in the first place. Only after that did the emotions and reactions differ. The very first emotion or actual personal reaction would be:
ALASTOR
Irritation with a hint of madness.
His first thoughts about the situation would be how ironic it is that he seeks entertainment for himself while his own person, no, character, was a source of entertainment for whatever was watching them from time to time. It was quite ironic how he said that his face was made for radio when the truth couldn't be further from that. He was literally created solely to be watched on that funny colored box by… whatever was watching him and the others.
He was irritated at not noticing that something was wrong immediately, now he thinks about how blind he was, how obvious everything was. The city is actually quiet, too quiet when the noise and demons aren't needed, when they're not meant to be heard. Nothing actually happened that one time when he was out for a fix of his coat, it just got magically fixed, he went and came back when someone else decided he was to do so. They didn’t have much actual free will when he thought about it and that's what he was mad about. He thought that his deal was a massive problem to him, oh how wrong he was because the problem was you.
He doesn't know how he or the others didn't notice the small, glowing butterfly flying above their heads from time to time. They couldn't be that blind, could they? The little crystal thing (could he break it?) must have done something to be unnoticed for so long. He wondered how long they were watched for, the little thing above their heads seemed to be speaking sometimes, seemingly knowing what would happen… at least he thought so, the words would cut out so often that he was left with a pure guess at one point.
He didn't want to accept that he wasn't real, that he was just a 2D character with the sole purpose of entertaining someone. He was meant to be the one entertained, not you. But he couldn't actually do anything, could he? For sure not until more of the people he knew were aware.
That's also something that he noticed. When it came to the hotel staff and guests, he seemed to be the only one who realized the situation at first. It took a few times of some events repeating before he noticed that someone else from the hotel was noticing the little crystal butterfly above their heads as well.
Alastor seemed to be the first, or one of the very first people who noticed that something was wrong. He wasn't sure if someone realized before him, and if they did then who, but he was somewhat glad that he could finally discuss the topic at least a little once the other hotel patrons found out about the truth. He isn't one to really open up in any way, but this was a matter where he had to communicate with the others.
You. He didn’t know what to think of you at first. He did see you in a more negative light at first, under many emotions hitting him at once which he hated but after he calmed down, he started thinking. At first, he was sure you were some sick person seeking entertainment from the suffering of others, and yeah he was doing pretty much the same, but were you really alike when he wasn’t even real and you were? He was pretty sure that he’s never gonna get used to saying that.
Over time, when he stopped overthinking (he’s gonna deny that he was doing that till the day of his 2nd death), he noticed a few changes. The less negative his posture and thoughts were about you, even if neutral, the more he was able to find out. Alastor was able to pick up more than a few words whenever you talked, he was able to hear you talking clearly enough to recognize a possible gender, and something he wasn’t sure that he wanted to think about, it was way easier to pick up your emotions in your words.
I feel like he would be more lenient towards you if it turned out you were a female (or identified as one), but that would be the mama’s boy inside of him talking. There wouldn’t be too many differences of course, but those who spent enough time around him would be able to tell there's a difference after finding out your gender if it turned out you weren’t a man (again, not too much but it IS noticeable).
He would go from lowkey hating you at first to being mostly neutral with a hint of positive light as you seemed to do nothing but watch, up until later on when everyone is self-aware as well and would talk about the whole thing. Only then would the feelings towards you, the little watcher, as he first called you, turn more positive.
LUCIFER
Massive inner conflict and a complete mix of emotions
He didn’t know what to think. It was hard to comprehend that he didn’t actually live for as long as he thought, that all the things that supposedly happened, in fact never were even close to happening, they were just… a scripted past.
Was all his suffering for nothing? Was it there just to entertain someone? Did those things who watched them enjoy seeing them sad and hurt? He was simply lost on what to think about the whole situation, it wasn't something that he could prepare himself for in any way beforehand.
He was disappointed in himself for not noticing immediately or at least faster that something was not right. He's the literal King of hell! Even if… only in a show apparently… but he still is. No one better say anything about that because he's already on the brink of a yet another breakdown. He cannot take much more.
Should he try doing something about this? Or should he stay quiet and go with the script as he's supposed to? He wasn’t sure about the answer himself and had no one to answer his questions. The thought that what he thought were eons of life was actually a lie was… a little terrifying. Who knows just how much can someone force them to do without caring for their opinions because they don’t know that he and the others are aware of everything now, how much can you cause without their consent? He wasn’t sure if you or anyone else knew about them being self-aware or not.
He would actually try to ignore the little butterfly whenever he would see it, but at the same time, many questions were swirling in his mind.
Why were you around? Did you like to see them suffering? Did you have any control over what you saw? Did you have some sort of control over them? Did you have plans regarding them? Did you-
Yeah, again, he has a lot of questions and absolutely zero answers.
His personal feelings about you were all around at first. Not sure whether he should hate, dislike, or be generally negative about you, be more neutral, or be on the more positive side, especially since you didn't seem to do anything but watch them. Like it's all that you could do when it comes to them, but he couldn't be 100% sure.
Similarly to Alastor, he would be one of the characters who noticed something wrong on the first watch of the show before becoming self-aware quite soon after that. I don't think he, nor Alastor, would notice the other knows too fast, since both try to act like nothing's wrong around others. He did not want to be just a 2D character, something to be watched on a screen. It was… humiliating, in his eyes. He could tell that Charlie and the others weren't aware of anything at first so he didn't speak about it until later on when he was sure that they came to their senses, as he would like to say.
He wondered how long were you actually there before he, or anyone else, started to see or notice you, especially since he could literally hear you. Both as the small insect and the occasional words he was able to pick up. And that's if he was to forget the butterfly was literally, softly fucking glowing. Yeah, they're all blind.
I think that if you’re on the younger side, (which technically is any age a human can be alive at compared to him lmao) he would be a little softer, especially if you're similar to his daughter in character. It would come from the paternal side of his, you would probably remind him of Charlie so much :(
He would be more on the negative side at first, as much as he wishes he didn't straight up assume how you were as a person, it took some time but he went into the more neutral zone before being positive about you after being able to hear more of you talking, as he was able to at least have more idea about your character and wasn't completely clueless like at the start.
Your nickname also got changed to something else, something cuter over time, as Alastor’s name for you, little watcher, was deemed not good enough by everyone (Lucifer's words)

vulnerable vere is!! such a concept!! I love the idea of him eventually shedding that front he puts up w the mc but I’m curious as to how…basically, could we get some more vere hcs? 🥺 I absolutely love how you characterize him (and all the touchstarved charas!)
VULNERABLE VERE HCS
Tumblr media
gn!reader | (hypnotic/alluring voice) red spring studio drop more lore so i don't look like a loser when all of this is absurdly inaccurate
Tumblr media
VULNERABLE VERE!! aahh... with so little information to work with. i will try my best to think of possible scenarios!
starting out with going on a 'mission' with him—'mission' because it might not necessarily be an actual hunt. he could totally just lie to see what you'll do. you're intriguing!
a scene where you have the option to leave him behind, use him, hurt him in some way, and simply not doing so. and he's distrustful and shocked—maybe he had just done something to piss you off earlier—but you tell him you'd never have let that happen. and he might not thank you, but he eases his remarks for the day
^ actually you might get a Little thanks. just a little one. dependent on how far along you've gotten with him
you finding vere after he's gotten injured on a hunt. and he tells you he'll be Fine but it's cute how much you care but sits and lets you examine him anyway. maybe if you weren't looking for any scars or blood you'd notice the way his tail twitched when your fingers almost touched his skin
i don't think finding out vere's history is going to be as easy as a deep conversation.. like i don't think it'll be something he reveals voluntarily in some safe place. unfortunately. though i could still be wrong! which would be soo awesome
but to me. it seems like something that'll be commented on/exposed by other characters, something you'll be witness to when he has to transform, etc etc. and then there's an awkward tension because well, you're not really sure what to do now. you know vere and that's why you're hesitant, but also he kinda fucking hates the hesitancy
because ! great ! you've seen him ! and of course you're fucking scared (even if you aren't), of course you're staring at him silently, trying to start a conversation that no, he does not want to have right now.
but i Am expecting a deep late night talk. come onnn come on!!! there has to be one where he opens up a little bit, maybe he's a little tipsy, or he was and actually, he's quite sober right now, but you don't point that out because you don't want him to stop talking.
and then you open up. and he's silent while you tell him your story, when you tell him you wish you could touch somebody without the fear of turning them into something else. and maybe he thinks about every single innuendo he's thrown around and wonders what you were really thinking. wonders about you're different but also the same
and of course. the highly awaited scene of him finally letting you touch his collar/chains. you don't realize you're holding your breath, and he's sitting oddly still while your hands hesitate. then your hands touch the metal for the first time, and really you're not even sure what you plan to do. you have to be careful not to touch him, after all
and i think he might try to be dismissive of it . what the collar means, what letting you touch it means. your fingers follow the chain down his chest and he says something about how it's "nothing special," about how you're so nervous—does he make you nervous?
one indicator that he's learned to trust you i think could be falling asleep around you... like, not even just going to sleep at the same time with you, but simply letting himself rest while you're nearby. not having to worry about being woken for a job, or you trying to do something terrible, etc. i think that could be very sweet!
vere's tail...not just brushing it, but he flicks it at you knowing you won't retaliate in any harmful way. it's playful and teasing as always, but something he wouldn't do with someone he didn't want his tail near
a time where you can Touch him. perhaps the first time you think it's safe to try and he can tell you're freaking out so he moves into your touch before you can retract your hand
vere who is just like...a little calmer? he teases, but unlike the first meeting where he's dropping innuendos with every sentence, he doesn't really feel the need to do that? like vere's first meeting was definitely building up a character not just for us but for MC themself like...scratches head. anyway. vere in the morning where you've been in a relationship for a while and he's just. he comes up from behind while you're making a drink, and he might run his fingers along your back to send a chill down your spine, but then he's sitting down and holding a regular conversation about your plans for the day. yeah
i really want to know about vulnerable vere because right now . that one blushing sprite when you ask about ais at the end of the demo ... ??? like i Cannot imagine a scenario when else we could elicit that response. it is such a loving flustered gaze it's baffling because not a single story plot point i can think of right now for a character like vere would. ... well! it'll happen! it's a sprite for a reason! waauww...

papyrus and delta are (adopted) twins and are attempting a twin switch! who notices?
I took the Undertale characters for this one! As a reminder for the newcomers, Delta is Disbelief Papyrus.
Undertale Sans - He knows immediately but plays along. He knows his brother(s) too well, and Delta always looks a little sadder than his Papyrus. But both of them are having fun right now so he won't ruin the fun. He pretends to be shocked when Papyrus "appears" at two places at once. How could that even happen O:
Undertale Toriel - She can tell something is not normal because Papyrus acts weird and is very insistent, but she doesn't notice the switch. Instead, she insists on checking on him to make sure he's not sick because you don't joke with these things. They wanted to have fun, they won a doctor's appointment instead... That happened.
Undertale Asgore - He doesn't know Papyrus enough to make the difference. Sure, he found that odd that Papyrus was in the kitchen when he saw him two seconds earlier in the living room, but he knows Sans better and Sans always does the weirdest thing so maybe all skeletons can? He's not judging.
Undertale Undyne - She almost falls for it, but eventually, she notices something is weird with Papyrus and suddenly gasps when she realizes it's not the good Papyrus. Now, that means she gets revenge twice as hard! Both Papyrus are now running for their life as Undyne is determined to kick both their asses.
Undertale Alphys - She notices immediately and ruins their little prank. Alphys had to make sure Delta was fine after he arrived, and she knows his bone structure by heart, and it's slightly different from Papyrus' one. That's quite awkward when she says that out loud in front of them, Undyne and Sans. She says nevermind and leaves the room to hide in the toilets.
Undertale Frisk - That's easy. Frisk flirts with them. Delta rolls his eyes, Papyrus plays along. Busted in ten seconds. Both Papyrus are impressed, but the kid won one battle, not the war. They will try again, and again until they succeed to prank them.
Undertale Chara - They're uncomfortable and wondering why Papyrus won't leave them alone when it's clear they don't want to hang out right now. They try to chase them away gently, but when a second Papyrus comes in the room saying he's bored, Chara is speechless. Uh???? What? They ask for explanations, but before they can, both Papyrus are gone. Did they imagine all of this? What was in their tea? Oh god, they didn't drink golden flower tea and poisoned themselves again, right?
Undertale Mettatton - He knows. Immediately. Delta thinks it's weird that Mettaton knows them so much when they're clearly not hanging out together that much. That's when he turned around and found a bright red Papyrus avoiding his stare at all costs. Oh. Welp. It seems Alphys is not the only bone structure connoisseur after all.
Undertale Gaster - He completely falls for it to the point Papyrus wonders if he should be offended by that or not lol. I mean, it's his father??? Uh. Maybe he should try this with two Sans to see if it's just him. That's awkward.
Undertale Grillby - He's going crazy. He just served Papyrus a milkshake. He went into the kitchen but when he went back, he found Papyrus... waiting for his milkshake? Maybe he just forgot, so he serves him another milkshake. But then he came back from the kitchen and he found Papyrus waiting for his milkshake again. When he finally understands what's wrong after like ten milkshakes, he's so disappointed with Papyrus lol. He's used to this with Sans, but him? He feels so betrayed.
Undertale Muffet - They tried to play the same trick they did at Grillby's in her bakery. Muffet notices and charges the donuts twice their prices as revenge. Ah... They tried...
Undertale Burgerpants - The two Papyrus are appearing and disappearing in random places while he's working. After an hour, Burgerpants has a mental breakdown and starts to break everything in the studio, just screaming in anger. Why can't he have one normal day of work in his life? Why everyone hates him?! Mettaton finds him later curling up in a cupboard, crying, hugging a broom.
Undertale Flowey - It's not that hard? They're clearly two different people and he knows that because he's their bestie. You can't fool him, even with a swap of clothes! He's too clever! ... Too bad they actually didn't swap their clothes. Flowey refuses to believe them and locks them both in his roots until they tell him they are the right Papyruses. But really, he got it wrong. Flowey is still so mad about it.
Undertale Gerson - Man, he's too old for this. He can't see that good already, why would you do this to him? He locks the door of his shop and forces them to mop the floor while he's lecturing them about pranking old people.

╰┈➤ Spa day
Legit an old ship of the old lore. So Killer personality kind of like the old lore and Hope still Hope- (no this does not count as chans because Hope is not a Chara. They just have the name of it-)
"What's this...?" Killer is dumbfounds.
She entered Hope house with the key Hope left her. Killer did not expecting to see the house suddenly turn into a comfy luxuries place that are filled with roses...
"Oh, your majesty!" Hope smiles and greet Killer. "Merciless and Lux made this place for us! They said we deserve a break and a spa day."
"Oh...!" Killer chuckles as she realized her son was planning this whole time. "Are those two here or...?"
"Oh, Merciless forgot something. Lux went with him and said we should relax ourselves first." claimed Hope. "I made a few research about spa day when they are away. So I am capable on giving you a bath, massage and-"
"How about this time, I do it. I want to wash your hair and style it." Killer offered and before Hope could say anything, Killer add "this is an order, so let me do it."
Hope slightly chuckles and nodded. "Alright, anything for you, your majesty."
༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶
"This is my first time seeing you without that worn shirt." Said Killer as she applied shampoo on Hope's hair.
"Well I don't have much clothes and I am bad at dressing up." Hope laughs as they rest themselves in the bathtub.
It was comforting silent. Killer love this, she like having a friend like Hope.
"Hey Hope... Uhm, are you free this weekend?" asked Killer as she wash Hope's hair.
"Hmm, well my lord asked for my presence at his meeting." replied Hope. "Do you need me in the weekend?"
"Well I was thinking we should go on a date...?" Killer was very straightforward on that.
Hope stop moving, they are not sure if they heard it right.
"alright, if that's your order—"
"No it's not an order! It's..." Killer sighed. "What I mean is, I love you more than a friend so I want to go on a date with you."
".... Alright." Hope nodded and smiles gently at Killer.
Killer has finally finished washing Hope's hair. Yet she feel disappointed with Hope answer. Does Hope even want to go on a date with her?
"Hope, do you want to go on a date with me?" asked Killer.
"of course, you want me to go so—"
"No...-"
Hope still don't understand. Their heart belongs to someone else yet Killer still try.
"Hope, do you love me? Romantically...?" asked Killer.
"Your majesty... I..." Hope sigh and smile faintly. "I love you, your majesty. Did that reassure you?"
The word of 'I love you' from Hope feels so wrong. This is what Killer want to hear. Hope is just a slave, they'll do anything what they are commanded so why Killer is like this...?
"Kiss me if you love me." Killer is not going back to her words.
"W-What?" that left Hope speechless.
"..." She frowned. "I knew it, you don't want to do this. You don't want to love me like you love Dream." Killer got up from the floor.
She was about to leave but Killer slipped on the spilled shampoo.
"Killer be careful—!" Hope didn't think much and grabbed Killer's hand to hold her balance...
But that cause Killer to be in the bathtub with Hope now.
"Shit... I always cause trouble." Killer sighed.
"Your majesty, your clothes are wet. You'll catch cold if—"
"Stop doing that!" Killer slightly raised her voice at Hope.
Hope was speechless because this is the first time Killer had raised her voice.
"I... Stop being so caring. If you don't love me then don't treat me like someone you care." She frowns.
It was silent again. Hope slowly reach their hands and hug Killer.
"I'm sorry, Killer." they said. "I do care for you... But I don't love you." Hope claim as they comfort Killer.
"Right... What did I expect—"
There was smooch sound. Hope kissed Killer on her cheek.
"but I could learn to love you if you allow me too." Said Hope.
Killer put her hand on her cheek, she is in disbelief yet happy.
Just before Killer could reply, Lux enter the bathroom with towel and stuffs.
"Hey I got these...-" Lux dropped the items on the ground.
She is surprised to see her mother in law and caretaker in the bathtub. Together.
"Wow." she slightly chuckles. "Don't mind me, enjoy yourselves lovebirds!" Lux wink at Hope and close the door as she left.
"Oh dear, the towel is far near. I'll go get it."
Killer stopped Hope from getting out from the bathtub. "Hope, you're naked. I'll do it-"

Opinion on FINAGLC
i assume you are talking about Flowey Is Not A Good Life Coach. correct me if i am wrong.
opinion under the cut.
it has been a while since i last read it, but i have read it three times in the past. each time, i was struck with how much papyrus’ story resonated with me. it was such a heart-wrenchingly real depiction of someone going through that kind of abuse, and there were moments where i saw myself in him. this fic helped me start to recognize the ways i was being abused. and for that, i am grateful.
that being said, i absolutely despise this fic for its portrayal of flowey. others have said it better, but this author seems to misunderstand flowey on a fundamental level. in this fic, flowey is portrayed as an emotionless husk who is cruel and sadistic for the sake of it and cannot be changed because he is incapable of real emotion or caring about others in any meaningful way, so it’s in his nature. apparently. besides being yet another iteration of a deeply ableist trope, this portrayal of flowey completely contradicts what he is actually like in the game.
firstly, flowey is not cruel ‘by nature’. he CHOSE to be cruel when he didn’t have to. and he was never cruel for the sake of it. he did awful things to stave off unbearable boredom and sate his curiosity. i do not say this to ‘justify’ his actions. quite the opposite. if flowey really was cruel and sadistic because of his ‘nature’, something he CANNOT CONTROL, how could he possibly be responsible for his actions? he made the CHOICE to torture and kill people COMPLETELY of his own volition, and he is not proud of his actions. he’s so ashamed of himself that he condemns himself to the fate of staying alone in the underground for the rest of his life, tending to his lost sibling’s grave.
secondly, flowey isn’t emotionless either. in fact, he is the MOST emotional character in undertale. he even cries on screen at least three times, which is more than any other character (asgore cries twice and napstablook only once). he seems to deal with emotional numbness, but he never says that he can’t feel anything AT ALL, just that he can’t feel anything FOR ANYONE. he also says that he can’t truly care about anyone, but he has been proven to care about others many times (ie; the true route when he begs ‘chara’ not to reset and to let everyone live their lives, the times he took care of toriel, the fact he never has anything bad to say about papyrus, his secret admiration for sans). it’s not that he doesn’t care about anyone, it’s just that he conflates not feeling love and empathy for someone with not truly caring about them.
lastly, but not leastly, flowey IS asriel. i don’t really feel like explaining why right now, so for now i’ll just let this post do it for me.
another thing that really bothers me about this fic is that it’s just not a good or accurate rendition of papyrus and flowey’s relationship. in undertale, flowey seems to think very highly of papyrus and i think a lot of it has to do with his of unwavering belief that everyone can choose to do the right thing and make a change for the better. because it challenges his beliefs that the world is kill or be killed and that he is beyond redemption. papyrus challenges him to think critically about how he views the world and himself.
they have a lot in common too. they both put up a front all the time, they both feel like no one really understands them, they’re both painfully lonely, they both have a sibling they would do anything for. i think because they had so much in common, flowey felt closer to papyrus than anyone since chara was alive.
i think what finally made flowey go from considering papyrus as his friend to considering him as just another character was when he realized that he was getting predictable and boring just like everyone else. his words of encouragement and admonishment started to ring hollow. it became just lines of dialogue to him. i think that flowey thinking of the world as a game is his way of coping with derealization rather than just plain disregard for the people who live in it. it gives him a sense of control and comfort.
but i digress. all this to say that papyrus is really important to flowey and the significance of their friendship cannot be understated.
in this fic however, papyrus is flowey’s favorite because he just can’t quite figure out what makes him tick. he is oh so fascinated by his staunch pacifism because it makes no sense to him. he wants to figure out what would break his will and get him to murder. he has no real respect or admiration for papyrus. he just sees him as a toy.
in conclusion, Flowey Is Not A Good Life Coach, while a moving story and an excellent depiction of the effects that extreme abuse can have on someone, is also an abominable portrayal of flowey and his relationship with papyrus.
verdict: i really don’t like this fic and i never want to read it again.

My goodness this is such a captivating AU, my mind is racing with different possibilities. Flowey follows us all throughout the game, I'm not sure if Asriel would be able to do the same without attracting attention? His friendship with Papyrus might not come to pass. How would his reactions to our different actions in the Ruins change? Would he defend Toriel if we tried to kill her? What about Asgore. Would he even know his son woke up in the most recent reset or would he assume that he finally died? And how would Asriel's/Flowey's involvement in the Asgore boss fight change? Would he still kill him, and still take the Human SOULs? Or the True Pacifist ending, since he's still a Monster in this AU he wouldn't be able to take the SOULs of other Monsters to equate that 7th Human SOUL, completely changing how shattering the Barrier could work. Perhaps he would discover over the course of the fight or in the leadup to it that he still has Chara's SOUL, and then coming to accept that have to let go of it at the end to destroy the Barrier (and also free himself, more metaphorically)?
Or the entire Genocide Route, Asriel's involvement in it would be different from Flowey's, simply due to them having different forms. He would obviously have a greater capacity to fight back, would he be the final boss after sans? Or replacing the sans fight altogether?
Or even the simple question of what happens to him in the various Neutral endings?
This is an AU with such great potential for anything and everything to change, it deserves to be developed into a full thing
(Although the question of how Asgore's and Toriel's aging was affected during Asriel's coma would also have to be addressed, since Undertale as it is takes place at least 100 years after Chara's death)
HI I MEANT TO ANSWER THIS EARLIER but this week has been so busy </3 my General Thoughts on it is that it pretty much just stays the same and asriel is just an elusive guy.... like.. u know how the amalgamates are gooey?? he just kinda learns how to slip out of sight after who knows how many resets. so if it were to come down to papyrus or toriel or whoever else everything would pretty much have the same dialogue and scenes, except for Specifically Toriel who would probably be. really worried about asriel all the time. especially if u tried to kill her. she would probably be like "Oh God My Son Has Already Lost So Much Oh My Baby Boy" and then asriel would show up at the end of the ruins like "ok Wow u didnt even Try to spare her! u kind of remind me of myself ahaha" and then he follows u like flowey does via amalgamate goo. i think sans would probably be mildly worried about this Goat Friend papyrus talks about but overall i think he would be like "oh sick my brother has a pal. even if hes imaginary"
BUT as for the true lab i think some things would be different. asriel was kept there for a VERY long time and since he was on the verge of death he didnt take much Soul Power from his parents so they barely aged, just like him. toriel and asgore figured there wasnt much hope and everything goes pretty much the same way as it does in canon. but asriel wakes up alone in the lab and FREAKS OUT cuz hes like "oh my god how long have i been out where am i is chara dead what happened to their soul whats going ON" and when he sees asgore and feels numb he immediately thinks that there MUST be something wrong with his soul. that maybe he died and hes living off of charas soul and theyre gone because of him or that charas soul is gone and that Did something to him. he doesnt know but hes pretty much convinced that theres just something Wrong with him now. and thats when he realizes he can reset and he goes about all his resets and whatnot
i think what really happened is that after he went into a coma, charas soul stayed but they pretty much disappeared kinda similar to how chara "wakes up" when frisk falls, but asriel cant tell. i think he wouldnt find out about his soul until he kills asgore and absorbs the six souls and turns into an abomination and the six of them revolt... like he Knows charas soul is There Now but hes convinced that its frisk hes sensing, so he still ends up believing frisk is chara especially after frisk goes through the true lab. i think the true pacifist end would be different in like.. a way that he just uses his Various God Powers to isolate him and frisk like in the photoshop flowey fight. he breaks the barrier after accepting that chara is gone and he Literally has to let them go to break the barrier and hes just a Regular Monster now who is mildly fucked up and dripping cuz of the dt. at least those are my rough thoughts
im sure theres a lot of holes cuz im still trying to think of how i wanna go about it...... i might just have charas soul be gone if i think about it more but either way i wanna try to keep that idea of him having to let chara go to move on from his trauma... most of his issues with his parents would probably be a post game thing where he still avoids asgore but lives with toriel and frisk cuz of his time in the ruins with her. i hope my rambling makes sense i think about asriel so very much

Hi I hope you're having a great day !!!! Okay so first of all, I really love the EC AU and find it very interesting. What I'm going to say is probably gonna sound rude but I swear I don't mean it that way !!
The thing that bothers me is how Flowey is portrayed in this AU. It reminds me of the old days when everyone constantly characterized him as a shithead with no redeeming qualities, especially when he interacts with Papyrus. And he does (kind of) act like that in the AU, which really rubs me the wrong way.
Flowey is a little asshole that true, but he is shown multiple times that he truly appreciates Papyrus as a friend. It would be so out of characters for him to be so apathetic towards Papyrus. ESPECIALLY if it involves resets, because he too has been completely changed by it, like Papyrus in this AU.
I think if Papyrus, of all people, started remembering AUs, he (Flowey) would be more taken aback than immediately start gaslighting Papyrus, and try to understand how that is right away, but he also would find Papyrus even more appealing (yea let's use that word).
He sees everyone as characters because of their predictability, and Papyrus remembering resets would make him different from others and more special to him than he already was. Flowey would finally find someone to relate to, other than Chara, and it'll maybe help with his grief and finally let go of Chara. And Flowey, maybe,,,, would grow to appreciate Papyrus more, not as a character, but as a person.
(sorry this is a little long and all over the place, I kinda started spewing my own headcanons.... I probably read Flowey's character in this AU wrong, and you're free to correct me !!)
YES! I love asks like these! >:]
OKAY I wanna clear something up while I’m doing this! I’m still in the drafting and concept stage of this au so a lot of things will change, especially the way I write flowey!!! Don’t worry! He does become a lot more nicer in the au, a lot of character development and all that jazz will happen for that to happen! but like you mentioned, yeah!! He does grow an attachment to papyrus more than before! He always enjoyed papyrus company. but it’s just in the beginning of the au, when papyrus tries asking for flowey for help, he took it the wrong way and he became apathetic towards him, ya know being childish and being full of himself to want to help papyrus until he realizes “geez, he really does need my help…well as fun as it is having someone else know about the resets, it ain’t a pretty thing to deal with!”
But in short, flowey does find papyrus very interesting, always loved the guy, just thought in the beginning it was fun at first spectating papyrus struggle to grasp the concept of resets in the world. But then he slowly feels sympathetic for him, remembering how it felt to be lost and scared and being aware of the things flowey already knew.
Hope this makes sense! Kind of rambled a bit

The theory that chara isn't evil is fundamentaly flawed and incorrect.
Throughout my binge watching MANY undertale theories I've noticed a pattern. I'll look in the comments of a theory that mentions the fact that chara is evil in some way and their will always be some comments like....
"ItS NoT ChARAs FAult ItS ThE PlaYEr"
While yes in the genocide route, one could argue the player's actions influenced chara's behavior. However.....
That Does NOT excuse their actions in pacifist and in the tapes.
I previously mentioned the theory that chara emotionally abused asriel in my Alphys theory.
(the video is almost done please be patient)
I am very convinced that this theory is true due to one line in particular....
Tumblr media
This dialogue from asriel....
The WHOLE point of this line is asriel realizing that Chara wasn't a good person.... Finally seeing through the manipulation and lies from his so called "best friend".... And the main reason asriel realizes you aren't Chara is because you show him true kindness and mercy...
Which when we take into consideration him thinking your chara in the ruins.
(Specifically in the route where you seek out and kill everyone, including his and chara's mother)
Is something Chara would NEVER DO.
This moment is a beautiful representation of someone standing up and speaking out against someone who manipulated and emotionally abused them....
And the theory that chara isn't evil throws this beautiful moment right in the DAMN trashcan....
Think about this logically... Do you REALLY expect me to believe Toby Fox, a beautiful storyteller would include this wonderful moment of a character standing up to the manipulation and abuse from someone who claimed to be their best friend...
Only to turn around and say that the person doing the manipulation wasn't really ever evil...?
Really...?
Let that sink in...
If your still not convinced hears some rapid examples of chara's evil behavior in the Pacifist route.
Insulting napstablook
Laughing at snowdrakes mother
"Big kids don't cry"
Asriel (chara's best Friend) literally saying they were not a good person.
Laughed after accidentally poising asgore
And if you want to argue Chara was laughing to hide their sadness about what they did.... THAT'S ALSO THEORY AND NOT CONFIRMED!
And you can't prove a theory using a theory unless both theories are backed by evidence...
Now do I think chara is truly evil....? No I don't...
It is theorized that they were abused on the surface and their hatred for humanity likely caused a lot of their issues...
So I don't think chara is completely evil. But as asriel said.... Chara is certainly not a good person....
But hey... That's just my little theory. If you have evidence to prove me right or wrong feel free to comment or reblog. I love hearing everyone's opinions and evidence that I may have missed.

Huh that one anon bringing up Flowey’s mental age is interesting because I was thinking about it the other day. I think he’s emotionally speaking still a 13 year old, like don’t get me wrong he’s able to mask very well but I think thats literally it. He’s gone through so many resets that he matured his ability to mask his true feelings but because there’s never any consequences for him (bc reset) he’s basically become an entitled brat lol. He is very people smart it seems when it comes to anything that doesn’t involve himself however seems to lack massively on the introspective department causing him to be easily emotionally blindsided. I’d also assume he’s read everything in the underground so he probably has a lot more knowledge compared to a 13 year old. It’s interesting to think about lol.
Yeah, that sums it up rather well! It's why, even if he DID end up resetting for more than 4 - 5 years (the exact amount is still a bit ???, but certainly not centuries), his emotional maturity has stagnated hard. He's refusing to look inside himself and realize that he might be the problem. He's assuming that he knows what Chara needs, putting his own idea of what's right before theirs. It's very, very selfish. He's been Flowey for so long that he's forgotten what it's like to genuinely do something for others without an ulterior motive.
It's certainly sad, since had he revived with a healthy sense of compassion, he likely wouldn't have gone down this path, but it was also his choice TO walk a path where he started treating the world like his play thing and killing and screwing around with people for funsies. He is a victim, but he also had his own autonomy in his choices, which puts him in an interesting place.
A lot of people took what happened in Part 61 VERY harshly and have condemned him outright. Personally, I feel like that's a bit harsh, especially when everything he did was... pretty in line for him, being real. Even in Undertale, he had really cruel, wicked, and backstabbing moments. The difference is that, like how we spent more time with Undyne as an antagonist, we are also spending more time with Asriel as an antagonist, so it puts those negative attributes in greater focus than the relatively short final battle in Undertale.
I think it's a phenomenon very similar to Undyne because I distinctly remember some people trying to say that IF Undyne was abusive to Papyrus and Alphys. o_O While I do think there was absolutely some toxicity in the way she handled the Frisk situation and some of her kneejerk reactions (e.g. interrupting Alphys' call and snapping at Papyrus), I think people also forgot like... how she repeatedly told Alphys it wasn't her fault and likewise with Papyrus. She absolutely endangered Papyrus tons of times, and her actions totally hurt Alphys by proxy, so I GET it.
But I feel like these kinds of simplified takes miss a lot of the nuance, and I hope that as we move into the final arc, people will be patient and wait to see where I'm going with the Asriel plot. There's a lot I hope to explore.

RIGHT!!! because you take this child and flip their worldview entirely upside down while proving half of it right! chara HATED humanity, so badly so that they decided that they would be willing to kill six other humans—and themself—to free monsterkind. they did not exclude themself from that belief. they saw these kind monsters who took them in and loved them and made them apart of their family (so close with asriel back when they were alive that flowey says "after all this time... you're still the only one who understand me"!!!!) and instead of holding onto that and thinking "i could live with them for the rest of my life and be happy, i deserve that much", they instead thought "i need to sacrifice myself so that they can be free". they were human, right? it was only fair. these monsters were so much kinder than anyone had ever been to them, and what did they have to offer in turn? their SOUL!! as soon as they realized something could be done to save the monsters (or, as some people interpret, enact revenge on humanity, but i maintain the focus in the home footage was about saving monsterkind, not getting revenge, though there's so much that can be said about those lines) they went all in, no hesitation. (it's really telling of how little chara held a belief in their worth btw). and its a tragedy, it really is, and it should have ended there. their prescence is only really explicit in the genocide route, but by the whole "when i was reincarnated, i was confused" you can glean that NO MATTER the route you choose, chara is there! it's only when you decide to lead chara down genocide they make their appearance. it's like out of necessity really, they had no reason to before. it's like the final straw—Okay, you've proven it to me, human SOUL! We're all awful, everything here is worthless (which is how i imagine they viewed the world BEFORE falling into the underground, so congratulations you've successfully helped undo that progress), let's destroy it all. very 12 year old thinking by the way, it's an incredibly black-and-white way of looking at the world. erase or do not. like jump down mt. ebott or do not. die to save monsterkind or do not. hate ALL of humanity. (kill or be killed.) no in-betweens with chara. very childish, because they're still just a kid. this is all rambly and not going anywhere but yeah by going down genocide you prove them right about humanity, the world, and their false view of themself (i'm here as a vessel of strength to do a job for someone else and that's all i will ever be, whether it's dying to free humanity or ending the world once and for all). but when you choose pacifist you're helping save this kid as much as you do the lost souls throughout the entirety of the game, every small moment, because here's the first human they've ever met who has been kind to anyone. you prove them wrong with every kind choice you make, every monster you spare or take the time to chat with. and ain't that something??

Asgore, every so often, sees buttercups growing where there should be golden flowers. And it makes him think.
He thinks about his life. All the mistakes he’s made.
Toriel was right about him. He let so many monsters lose HOPE. He let his own children die, and other children, too.
He contemplates. He makes his decision.
He can’t.
He can’t let any more monsters down. If he… there would be no more hope. Yet, he couldn’t go back on his past decisions.
The past was in the past, and Asgore was not the type to go back on promises. He knows what he did was wrong.
BUT HE CANNOT DIE. HE CANNOT LOSE HOPE. HE HAS TO KEEP GOING.
As long as it takes.
He will keep going.
But sometimes, he’s selfish. He hopes no humans will fall down, and he rots underground. But he cannot condemn himself without condemning others to the same fate.
He will keep going. As long as he can. As long as it takes.
He misses his children. He misses his wife. He misses his friend. But they’ve all moved on, in different ways. Yet he can’t seem to go on, and leave this state of mind.
He thinks about his family. Rudy… felt like family. Asgore misses him. Toriel left him. She was right to. He misses her. His children are dead. They were so young. He wishes he died in their place. It’s selfish. But then, Toriel would still love him, and would rule in his place. She could spend time with them.
If Asgore had died that day.
Asriel was so full of joy. He loved everyone, and thought that everyone deserved to be forgiven.
Chara was so full of hate and anger when they first fell down. Asgore could tell why. He knew those feelings well. He could understand Chara, in his own way.
He thinks about how they gave him buttercups instead of butter by accident when they made him a pie. He thinks about how he got very sick and could barely get out of bed. He thinks about when Chara got very sick and could barely get out of bed.
Chara reminds him of himself.
Asgore cries softly. He realized. His paws are over his eyes as he collapses onto the floor. He laughs, despite himself. If his family could see him now.
He misses them so, so much.
=======OPTIONAL=======
Everyone is on the surface now.
He has a child again. The human who freed the monsters from their prison. They are everything like Chara, yet nothing like them at the same time. He feels like he might be replacing them. He feels guilty.
There is a tiny golden flower. His name is Flowey. Flowey the Flower. The name sounds like something he would come up with. It almost feels as if he did.
Flowey reminds Asgore of his son. Asriel. He misses him so much. Flowey is everything like him, but he acts so hateful. Perhaps he simply needs someone to talk to.
Toriel is back, but she refuses to talk to him, other than a few hateful comments. Others respond, but Asgore thinks he deserves it. She seems to be running out of bad things to say. He hopes it will get better.
Everything is different now. Everyone is trying so hard. He misses his old life. But he’s finally moving on.

MITSUYA TAKASHI - IS THIS A DATE?
note: so, i was writing with borrowing their clothes in mind, but finally my inspiration took a different turn aaaand, that's what came out instead😂 also, not only did this literally take me all my brain juice to write, but it's sleepy writing so i'll see when i can actually post what i said i would because, right now, my brain's run out of inspiration and am soo tired >~< i'm so sorry if this makes no sense and sucks T-T (might edit this later, very big maybe tho)
chara(s): mitsuya
wn: none, just fluff again
MITSUYA TAKASHI
Tumblr media
Today was one of the rare days his mother was off-work so you two decided to stay at his place today for your date since she and his sisters went out. He was sitting by his desk, working on a design he didn't get the chance to finish at school and you were right behind him, backs touching as you read a manga you had snatched from his shelve. Save for both of your breathing, the tap tap tap noise of his pen tapping against the desk and the small giggles that came out of you every once in a while whenever you read something funny, you were both in a comfortable silence.
"....."
But as time passed, Mitsuya became a bit troubled, a small bead of sweat sliding down his face as he wondered if you could really call this a date. After all, he felt like this was no different than the times you stayed with him at school after club hours when he wasn't ready to call it quits with whatever he was working on that day. Though, if he had to name a few things that were different, it was probably your soft warmth on his back or the way your hair tickled his neck lightly whenever you laughed and moved. At school, while he wasn't one to shy away from pda, it was usually just holding hands or you laying your head on his shoulder while you ate lunch together. Yet, right now, even if you weren't really hugging, it still felt quite intimate and he would be a liar if he said it didn't make his cheeks flush slightly. Back to the problem at hand though, were you really okay with him sketching while you did something else? Wasn't a date supposed to be for the two of you to hang out and do something together? These worries in mind, he completely zoned out everything around him.
"Hm? Are you okay, Takashi-kun?"
He snapped out of his daze once he heard your voice and realized he completely stopped sketching. But, he probably would have to start over since he'd doodled on one of the sketches. When he turned his head to try to look at you and tell you he was alright he came face to face with yours, noses almost touching, causing him to widen his eyes in surprise.
"Wha-"
Some time while he was thinking, you had dropped the book to the ground to kneel and check what he was doing over his shoulder. But, unlike him, you were smiling innocently with a glint of genuine concern in your eyes. And here he thought of himself as someone who could stay calm in most situations, but right now, he was at loss. How embarrassing. He cleared his throat, hoping his cheeks weren't red right now and nodded.
"Uh, yeah, I'm fine. Just fine."
The way you smiled made it obvious you had no idea of the effect you had on him when you laid your chin on his shoulder, humming.
"That's good. You weren't answering when I called you the first time so I got worried..." you grinned, giggling as you motioned for the doodles on the sketch. "That's cute. You're okay, but distracted then?"
Maybe he was wrong, maybe you were more perceptive than he thought. For several minutes, neither of you said anything, but you waited patiently for him to answer, not urging him. Just like earlier, only both of your breathing could be heard, but it helped him relax. Having somewhat calmed down, he chuckled in turn and leaned his head against yours, exhaling.
"You're right, it's just... are you enjoying yourself right now? Aren't you bored? I'm not too good with this but, aren't dates supposed to be more... uh..." he stopped half-way through, not quite finding the words he was looking for.
But, thankfully, you seemed to understand what he meant since, as he tried to think of what he wanted to say exactly, your wrapped your arms around his waist and kissed his cheek, halting his thoughts.
"I'm good. Just being with you always makes me happy." you then proceeded to play with the hem of his shirt absent-mindedly. "Dates is hanging out together, it's not like we have to do anything special."
But then it's not any different than just hanging out? he thought to himself, leaning back against you and your warmth, even more confused than he was at the beginning. Noticing his plight, you giggled and playfully poked his cheek with your nose, drawing a gasp out of him as he turned his focus back on you.
"You always overthink things too much. What I meant is, what makes a date a date is the fact I'm spending it with you. Because I love you and you're special to me. Did I phrase it better this time?"
Heart skipping a beat at how easily you told him you loved him, he shook his head in self-deprecation and snorted. What the hell was he doing? He was acting so uncool right now, but at least, he finally understood what you meant. So, nudging you slightly, he had you distance yourself a bit so he could turn around to wrap one of his arms around you as well, lifting the other to place a hand on your cheek as he pressed his forehead against yours.
"I think I get it." he looked straight in your eyes, hoping his gaze alone could convey how happy you made him too just by being by his side and leaned forward, kissing your lips softly. "I love you too, (F/n)." so much, you had no idea.

Some Kind of AviSynth Files Update?
Ok, as promised, I present to the 5 of you still making gifs on Tumblr an updated and (sort of) improved process for (somewhat) easily leveraging AviSynth to make (mostly, but not “only”) Tumblr gifs.
I’ll consider this the “final form” for this awful slapped together bat file setup and focus my attention on something much more convenient and interesting for you guys to use--but I will update this as necessary as functional problems arise. I haven’t really had a chance to do a ton of testing, so I hope you guys can help me with that and let me know what kind of experiences you’re having trying this stuff out, good or bad. If you’re running into issues please let me know about them! It would go a long way towards making something better in the future.
Additionally, if anybody has some grievances/wishes/problems/concerns with their current process--whether that’s this set of batch files or your process with the old files/vapoursynth/etc., whatever--please do let me know. I have some pretty cool ideas, but I’d be interested to know what you guys hate about the tools available to you atm, or what you would like to see improved.
** I repeat, I have not done a ton of testing. Problems may be likely. Keep backups of your plugins folder and current C:/video setup for your own sake **
Anyway, on to the stuff, here’s what needs to be done:
Uninstall AviSynth 2.5. Tell them “I love you” and thank them for everything. We need to move on...it’s not them, it’s us...
JK, it’s them. We’re replacing 2.5 with AviSynth 2.6. Download and install. Don’t worry about where your install ends up, though it is most likely C:/Program Files (x86)/AviSynth/
Download this new batch (heh) of files: batinator-2.1.2.zip
The packaged zip includes a plugins folder. Move the contents of the included plugins folder into your AviSynth plugins directory. Refer to step 2, this will most likely be C:/Program Files (x86)/AviSynth/plugins/. Nothing you guys haven’t done a dozen times by now.
From here it should be business as usual. Within the batinator folder is an auto.bat. Drag your videos into this and the process will start. If you’ve ever used “avisynth” for this before it should be very familiar.
For reference, here are some things the new setup does better
Automatically find the avisynth plugins folder, no matter where it is. 32-bit, 64-bit, wrong folder name, doesn't matter. If avisynth is installed, it'll find the corresponding plugins folder.
Work from anywhere, not just c:/video. Put it in your desktop if you want. Put it in your music folder, I don't care.
Take a range OR cut 10 seconds automatically. 17s was too long tbh, you really need 17 seconds for one scene? STOP.
Better time seeking. Have you ever put in a timestamp and had this thing spit out the wrong scene by like a second? Awful. No more of that. Using the power of Math™, no frames are left behind.
Attempts to automatically decide the best process to load the video based on the format. There should be no more need for a lossless.bat to try a different method manually
Be less sloppy in general. What the hell is even happening in that black window? Nobody knows.
Save every output video to the output folder without overwriting, in case people want to make multiple cuts before working in photoshop. Because realizing you have to go back and re-do that gif that got overwritten is the saddest thing ever...
Resizer slightly less ugly (still working on that but I'm lazy)
Less shitty resamplehq errors, calculates better sizes in the resizer so that avspmod stops bitching for once in its stupid life
New remake.bat uses the same video and clip and skips to the steps of resizer + avspmod so you can try again, for when you were too lazy to preview it and SWORE those sharpen settings would look good, and they totally don't.
[NEWER] Leverage AviSynth 2.6 and L-SMASH for previously unsupported/badly supported video formats.
Some known issues/things planned
There are some problems with characters in certain languages that I have yet to fully look into. If you’re running into strange problems, checking if you have any non gringo friendly characters in any of the file paths would be a good first start
Files that load with LWLibavVideoSource may not load 100% perfectly. I’ve had issues with the first 20 or so frames being either janky or frozen, sometimes in the preview, sometimes only in the final output. I THINK I fixed this, but if you do run into it, please let me know. As a temporary solution, I would suggest overcompensating on the start time of your cut and making it start a few seconds earlier, just to ensure the first few frames you need are actually clean.
As usual, AviSynth is a Windows tool. I have cross-platform plans for the macfriends, but this will likely leverage VapourSynth, not AviSynth, and will be a re-write that is essentially the focus of what I intend to move on to now that this is (mostly) out of the way.
TL;DR
Uninstall AviSynth 2.5
Install AviSynth 2.6
Download new files (includes plugins folder): batinator-2.1.2.zip
Move plugins to AviSynth 2.6 plugins directory (located wherever AviSynth was installed)
Drag files into auto.bat and it’s business as usual
Please let me know how it works for you and any errors/issues/you encounter, even if they are known issues. More detail and insight are always welcome

*Felt a need to write a fiction about a reader with thick, curly hair. And the Papyri in her life wanting to get their hands in it.
NEXT
“Girl, you’ve got a lot a hair!”  She could feel the corner of her mouth tweak up in amusement beneath her mask.  It would not be the first or last time she heard those words.  Yet they always brought her amusement, especially considering the move she was about to pull next.
“What if I told you this was only half of it?” she challenged the woman, eyes lighting up mischievously, while her client’s eyes widened only a fraction before narrowing in  suspicion.  Oh, she loved doing this.  Not another word could be uttered before she laid the papers in her hands down neatly against the counter and was digging her fingers gently into her curls.  She threw her client a sly wink as she lifted her curls up from her nape  and turned her face to the side.  An intricate undercut was now fully on display.  She had gone with a diamond pattern this time.  They laid like neat scales, stretching and repeating from her temple down to her ear, and back to her nape before looping back around.  Some were painted with a gold mica for a little accent.
She couldn’t help the little giggle that escaped as she heard the woman’s dramatic gasp.  “You weren’t kidding!” She could hear the smile in the older woman’s voice and it warmed her that her antics and hair could bring joy to some.  “Oh, I wish I had hair like yours…” She wouldn’t be saying that if she knew how much work this hair was.  Plus, her hair had to be finicky to boot.  “I’d never cut it!  Oh, the things I could do with it!” The novelty would wear off she was sure.  A wig would probably be a more practical option.  Letting her hair fall back into place, she gently finger combed it and pulled on the ends to help situate it.  “Was it..” she lifted a brow at the pause, her fingers releasing a curl and watching as it bounced back into place, hiding it’s true length as it coiled back up.  “... oh… hard? Yes, hard to choose to cut it?”
Oh, that was an easy question to answer.  “Nope.”  The answer was short, but not curt.  Her voice warm and her eyes curving with mirth at the other’s disbelieving look.  “I’ve had my hair much shorter than this at one point.  Actually had it shaved all around for a good bit,” she admitted with a shrug.  She was pretty sure her client was pouting under her mask and that made her smile more beneath hers.  She finally took this moment to look over the other.  She saw nothing wrong with the older woman’s beautifully white hair.  It was obviously well taken care of and so long as you weren’t looking for flaws, you couldn’t tell that the senior’s hair was thinning.  Effort had been put in, most likely with rollers, layers,  and hairspray, to fluff and shape the thin, delicate strands into a soft coif.  “Your hair is beautiful as well.  I can only hope mine looks as good as yours when I’m your age.”  The compliment was just as genuine as it was meant to comfort.
She watched as thin shoulders dropped and the crows feet at the edge of her client’s eyes eased.  “You’re too kind,” the old woman tittered.  Hands just as thin with joints a little swollen from arthritis lifted to bashfully touch her hair.
“A friend of mine says one can never be too kind, Mrs…” the young woman rebuked lightly while letting her voice drift off towards the end, fishing for a name.
“Mrs. Ida Thomas,” the elder filled in, smile reaching her eyes.  Those eyes dipped down to look for a name tag, but found it missing.  Her eyes darted back up, flustered, after hearing a little chuckle from the young woman across the counter.  She was spared any more embarrassment as the other provided her name with a hand outstretched over the desk, palm open and fingers gently splayed.  Her darker skin tone stood out against Mrs. Ida’s nearly translucent hue as they shook.
“Now, Mrs. Thomas, why don’t we get back to why you initially came in here?” she prompted, releasing the other’s hand and picking up the papers she had put down earlier.  It was back to business after those words as she lead the consultation.
It would be nearly two hours later before she would finally be showing Mrs. Ida out politely.  The two had gotten off topic again, but the tinkling of the little bell from above the front door of her office broke through their conversation.  If that hadn’t done it, the cheerful and unmistakably loud call of her name in a familiar voice through the small space would have certainly done it.  She smothered a chuckle as Mrs. Ida lightly jumped in her seat at the volume and suddenness.  “That would be my friend, Papyrus,” she stated like it provided all the answers needed.
Mrs. Ida only nodded, currently turned in her seat with a curious gaze locked on the doorway.  They could hear sure steps getting closer and closer as he marched his way to the inner sanctum.  “He is quite… enthusiastic,” the older woman carefully chose her words and the younger held back a snort in response.  Oh, she had no idea.  She counted the seconds down in her head before finally the door to her private office was thrown open and the towering figure of the monster skeleton stepped inside with a flourish and yet another loud call of her nickname.  She was sure if he was wearing his battle armor that the little cape on it would have been blowing in the nonexistent wind.  How this monster managed to break physics always astounded her.  Instead, he was dressed in blue training shorts and a loose pastel sweater over top his usual black tights that clung to his bones.  On his feet were thankfully a pair of bright red trainers, rather than his fire engine red boots.  Atleast they matched the just as bright red gloves.
“THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS HERE TO FULFILL HIS DUTIES AS THE GREATEST FRIE-” his monologue broke off as he finally took in the additional, apparently unexpected occupant of the office.  “OH!” he jolted, empty sockets widening comically before he gathered himself and cleared his nonexistent throat, “Oh.”  His volume dipped to what could be considered an “inside voice” considerately.  The poor old woman had at first been in awe at the tall skeleton monster, but that awe had been replaced with a strained expression at the booming voice bouncing and filling the small space.  The young woman was sure the skeleton had noticed and being the sweetheart he is, he had lowered his voice for the old woman’s comfort.
Before the moment of silence could stretch into something awkward, she gently tapped a nail on her desktop and then pushed herself to stand with one palm pressed flat to the smooth wood.  With her other hand, she waved to the skeleton monster, “Papi-rus,” she greeted, having to stop herself from saying his nickname at the moment.  She pouted under her mask as she noticed the little quirk to his teeth that gave away he was very much aware of her slip.  She powered on and nodded her head to her client, “I was just finishing with Ms. Ida here,” she informed, introducing the two at the same time.
Ms. Ida seemed at a loss for words as Papyrus bounced back with a gloved hand thrust forward enthusiastically for a handshake.  “Consider Yourself Lucky To Have Met THE GREAT PAPYRUS This Day, Hu- MRS. IDA!”  She held in an inelegant snort at her friend’s efforts to keep his volume under control.  Bless him.  And bless Mrs. Ida who seemed even more starstruck, but thankfully had recovered just enough to lift a hand and take his.  The old woman was now blinking at their hands as the skeleton’s much larger one gently gripped hers and was soon joined his other, sandwiching hers.  She still hadn’t said a word and it took the young woman finally releasing a giggle to knock her out her stupor.
“Oh, goodness me!  I have been so rude,” Mrs. Ida gasped, eyes lifting to look up at the skeleton who had leaned down with a concerned tilt to his teeth and scrunch to his surprisingly malleable eye sockets.  “And I’ve worried you, I apologize, sweetie,” she went to hide behind her free hand, but seemed to think better of it and instead patted his hands that were still gripped around one of her own.
“Nyeh Heh Heh!  It Is Quite Alright.”  Papyrus’s words, but mostly his genuine laughter as his features brightened up seemed to melt the tension from the elder.  “Afterall, That Sort of Reaction Is Expected-” the younger watched her client blink as the skeleton monster struck a pose.  He stood tall, head held high, and one hand pressed to his purposely puffed chest with fingers splayed dramatically.  His expression couldn’t look more smug and proud… then again, this was Papyrus.  He could find a way and considering she had met some of his cousins, she knew it was possible.  “-When One Meets A Skeleton As Cool As I Am!  Wink!”
She could see her client’s eyes crinkling as she was undoubtedly smiling under her mask up at the monster.  If it wouldn’t ruin the moment, she’d have taken a picture of the wholesome moment for memories.  Instead, she gently tapped at her phone’s screen and it illuminated, displaying the time.  Eyes widening briefly, she glanced up at the clock on the wall as well before sparing a glance out the window.  The sun was not visible, but the world wasn’t quite dark yet.  It was the cool colors of twilight that dominated the world outside.  “It’s later than I realized,” she commented, mostly to herself, but the other two occupants still heard her and broke from their idle chatter.
Mrs. Ida peeked out the window as well before looking at her own wrist watch with a chuckle.  Papyrus nodded in affirmation with arms crossed, not bothering to look outside or look to any clock.  No, his focus was acutely on the youngest human in the room.  Though his sockets lacked any eyelights, she could feel his gaze on her as those sockets narrowed.  Leave it to Papyrus to scold her without saying a word; though she’s sure he’s practically vibrating in his metaphorical boots to lecture her.  The reason he did not expect any guests in her office was because she should have been closing up a good hour ago and been ready to go by the time he stepped through her door.  He was always punctual and most times early.
Subconsciously, she twirled and pinched a curl at the nape of her neck as she looked away guiltily to the oh so interesting texture of the wood floors.
Mrs. Ida giggled at the silent exchange.  Just what had she interrupted? Had they had a date planned?  As amusing and precious as it was to watch the two, she would take pity on the girl.  A smirk curved her lips under her mask as she decided to help the young agent out.  She released a dramatic sigh before looking over and up to Papyrus.  “Mind giving an old woman a hand?  These joints of mine get stiff when I’ve idled too long,” she beckoned with an outstretched hand.    It worked like a charm as the skeleton’s attention was immediately focused on the old woman.  Once again, her hand was swamped in his gloved digits and with surprising care for someone so boisterous, he helped her stand.
“Stiff Joints Are Never Fun.  I Would Know!” he joked, beaming as he earned yet another soft titter from the frail looking human before him.  She looked so small and her hand, it felt… fragile.  Like if he gripped too hard or moved too harshly, she would break.  He offered his other hand for her to grip as well as she straightened up and steadied herself.
“I’m sure you do,” Mrs. Ida playfully replied.  Her eyes moved back to the young woman who had finally left from behind her desk and now stood before the duo.  “I’m sorry about taking up all your time like this,” she dipped her head to the young woman who quickly responded with raised palms and a shake of her head.
“You have nothing to apologize for, Mrs. Ida,” she assured.  “It’s not your fault you make such good company,” she complimented, a teasing lilt to her voice as her eyes crinkled due to her hidden smile.
The old woman hushed the younger with feigned embarrassment.  “Flatterer,” she accused lightly and didn’t bother to hide an unlady-like snort as her agent just wiggled her eyebrows in response.
Papyrus hummed as he listened to the exchange.  He spared an anxious glance out the window and resisted tapping his toes in impatience.  Not that he didn’t enjoy meeting new people--new potential friends--, he simply wished to spend time with his already established friend for their usual outing.  “I Feel I Need To Remind You Two Of What Time it Is.”  The statement did not have the intended affect as the two women simply laughed after a small lull to stare up at him.  “NYEH!” His little burst seemed to only make their mirth worse, “THIS IS SERIOUS.  WE HAVE PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS TO GET TO!” he was pouting and he knew it, but another glance at the clock and his sockets were narrowing as he leveled an accusing glare on his human friend.  “CORRECTION!  WE SHOULD ALREADY BE THERE!”
Mrs. Ida was thankful for the serotonin these two had blessed her with this evening as even the skeleton’s loss of volume control couldn’t bring her down at this point.  “You two are just adorable!” she was practically cooing.  After taking a deep breath in and slowly releasing, she felt the giggles dissipate.  “Apologies, Papyrus, Dear, but it’s a southern thing.”
A beat of silence, then.  “WHAT DOES A CARDINAL DIRECTION HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?”  Yet another snort left the woman and she had to bring a hand up to hover in front of her masked mouth to suppress another bout of laughter.
Fighting her own battle against a bout of giggles, the young woman managed to speak up.  “She’s referring to a geographical region, Papyrus,” she clarified, “It’s a running joke that southerners don’t know how to say goodbye since they take forever to part ways.”  Both women watched the monster take in the information and sighing as he nodded firmly, indicating he understood.   Not a moment later they were jumping as he straightened up, one hand on his hip, and the other pointing to his roof before swinging down.  Once his hand stopped, the humans found themselves staring down his finger as the skeleton somehow managed to aim an even toothier grin at them.
“AS THE ONLY ONE HERE NOT A ‘SOUTHERNER,’ ALLOW ME TO BESTOW ON YOU HUMANS THE MOST EFFICIENT WAYS TO SAY GOODBYE!” Papyrus declared, his tone exuberant, but unable to completely mask the sassy, sly lilt from his friend.  Mrs. Ida, though, was none the wiser and just found the whole idea of being taught how to say goodbye entertaining.  She nodded, agreeing to play along.  “PERFECT! STEP ONE! LOOK AT EACH OTHER.”  The two human women humored him as they made eye contact.  Mrs. Ida gave the young woman an admonishing look as she wiggled those brows again.  Thankfully, their teacher did not notice, or maybe he was just ignoring their antics.  “GOOD!  NOW, STEP TWO.  REPEAT AFTER ME: GOOD NIGHT!”
It was such an abrupt order that both women just blinked in disbelief.  The younger recovered first with a meager shake of her head and a giggle, “Good night, Mrs. Ida!” With a little nod to her client, the old woman replied with a just as enthusiastic farewell.
Papyrus nodded in approval with only a small narrowing of his eye sockets at the two as they giggled.  “FINAL STEP:  PART WAYS!”  he stated with a flourished wave of his hand to the doorway.  A tap on his arm brought his attention back to his friend who was gesturing for him to bend down.  He did so with minimal complaint, but only completely quit his grumping as she set a hand on his shoulder and leaned in to whisper in his metaphorical ear.
Mrs. Ida had only glanced at the doorway and just barely gotten to take a step before she was jumping in place as a loud gasp filled the room.  Before she could question what had happened, she felt as if she was floating for a moment as she was quite literally swept off her feet and into Papyrus’s arms.  She couldn’t have been more thankful for the mask mandate as it hid most of her quickly reddening face.  She hadn’t been held in years, much less lifted so effortlessly.  She was too stunned and flustered to utter any sort of protest.
“Sorry about that, ma’am, but with it getting dark outside, it would ease my mind if you allowed Papyrus to escort you to your car?” The old woman simply blinked at her junior and then up at the lad who currently had her suspended.  Escorting was one thing, but to be carried?
“AND I FELT IN MY INFINITE WISDOM, IT WOULD BE MOST EFFICIENT IF I CARRIED YOU,” the skeleton interjected, reminding her that he had been aiming to teach them “efficient goodbyes.” “YOU ALSO STATED EARLIER THAT YOUR JOINTS GET STIFF.  THIS WAY YOU DON’T HAVE TO STRAIN!” he added, proud and eager, “NO WORRIES ABOUT ME.  MY BONES AND JOINTS ARE IN TIP TOP SHAPE!  AND YOU, HUMAN IDA, ARE NO CHALLENGE TO HOLD!”
The elder just nodded along.  “You were right, I was pretty lucky to meet you today,” she recalled his introduction fondly.  With a final wave goodbye and short parting words, Mrs. Ida found herself being swept out the room, through a short hall, small waiting area, and finally out the front door.
That tinkling of a bell signaling to the young woman currently straightening her office and filing away papers that her client was gone and she now had until Papyrus got back to finish up.
Papyrus eased his impatience by thinking of his current task as training.  A very easy warm up.  A very unexpected, unplanned warm up.  The elderly human’s… Mrs. Ida’s weight in his arms was no challenge; and despite the buzz in limbs begging him to move faster, the memory of her frail hands and aching bones helped keep him grounded.  He settled into a steady, swift pace.  His long legs covering plenty of ground with each step.
At first, the two had been chatting idly and he had been quick to get her to point out where she had parked.  It was alarming to learn she had not parked anywhere and he had been confused until she mentioned she had “caught” a cab.  Her little giggle as she took the time to explain what she meant and that she had not literally CAUGHT a cab.  He admits he is still figuring out humans’ rather creative use of words or language.  She’d even taken the time to explain “euphemisms” to him as he brought her to the nearest bus stop after a quick google to check the schedule and location.
“EUPHEMISMS SEEM LIKE SOMETHING MY BROTHER WOULD ENJOY,” he had commented.  Mentally, he added on that his brother would probably catch on to them easier as well.  Sans, along a couple of his “cousins,” was a walking dictionary, considering his preference for crossword puzzles.  Maybe his puns would improve in cleverness if he introduced him to the world of euphemisms.  One could only hope.  Thankfully, he had plenty of that.  The conversation had continued, easy and casual, until finally the bus stop came into view and the bus just rolling up.
Papyrus picked up his pace just a bit and secured his grip on his passenger.  Mrs. Ida managed to loose an arm to wave as both called to the driver to wait up.  The bus remained idle thankfully and once they slowed to a stop before the door, it slid open to a rather plump man sitting in the driver’s seat who simply tipped his hat to them.  “Lucky I saw you two in the rear view,” his words brought forth yet another little giggle for the old woman.
“Today is just my lucky day, it seems!” she boasted, tapping Papyrus’s shoulder as he eased her onto her own feet.  The driver had gotten up and stood on the steps, hand held out to help his elder up the steps.
“Goodness, all of you are going to have me spoiled by time I get home,” she teased, taking the young man’s hand and letting him guide her up onto the step.  She could feel Papyrus kept a steadying hand at her back.  What a sweet gentle monster.
“Oh! Before I forget,” she chirped and turned to look  over her shoulder at the skeleton.  Said skeleton didn’t bother hiding his widening smile as she still had to look up at him despite her standing on the top step at this point.  She had simply huffed and set a hand on her hip, “Go easy on her, big guy.”  If he had eyebrows, one would have been raised at her warning tone.  Before he could even part his teeth to ask her to elaborate, she was speaking again, “Unless that’s what you two are into.”  If his tongue was summoned, he’d be choking on it.  The driver was doing so for him as he could hear the portly human coughing and beating at his chest.  “Enjoy the rest of your evening, Papyrus,” she finished with a wink and her tone was so cheeky, even his dense skull knew what she was implying.
It wasn’t until the doors of the bus had closed that he could practically feel his skull burning with excess magic summoned to surface in his embarrassment.  He buried his face in his hands, trying his best to muffle his flustered screech.  It didn’t do much.  As streets down, some poor soul was wondering if they had left their tea kettle on.

undertale rant plz i wanna hear
Alright so uh. This is just a rant about Flowey, let me know if you want me to rant about any other characters? This might not be the most entertaining thing to read, but uh here.
This is incredibly messy and poorly written so. Oops.
Please know that throughout this post I will be calling the first fallen human "the first fallen human" or "the human" and not "Chara". I really like that you get to pick their name, I feel like that's a really important part of the game, so I'd rather not call them by any specific name here.
I have so much to say
This will mostly be an analysis because I love this character a lot
So let’s go over the backstory. (This is gonna be like. Most of the rant. Just me analyzing certain elements of the backstory.)
Asriel lives underground in New Home with his parents, Toriel and Asgore.
One day, he finds a human and takes them home with him. The two eventually become as close as siblings.
The first fallen human comes up with a plan to free monsterkind from the underground, destroying the barrier forever.
Their plan is:
- they will commit suicide by eating buttercups and getting sick
- Asriel will absorb their soul and cross through the barrier to the surface world
- Asriel will kill six humans and absorb their souls
- Asriel will destroy the barrier with the power of seven human souls
The plan goes wrong because of the following:
- the first fallen human picks up their own lifeless body
- they want to see the golden flowers from the surface world one last time
- they set down their body into the flowers
- the humans see this and believe that Asriel killed the first fallen human
- Asriel is killed by the humans and stumbles back home
- Asgore decides to start a war against humans
When Asriel set the first fallen human down into the flowers, the sticky seeds stuck to him. He died underground, and the seeds were scattered in his dust. These flowers grew in the throne room, and the seeds stuck to anyone that went in there, spreading the golden flowers across the underground. The first flower to grow became known as the “flower from the outside world”.
Alphys, the royal scientist, was doing an experiment with what she called “determination”. She wanted to see what would happen if a being without a soul gained the will to live. This resulted in the flower from the outside world coming to life.
At monster funerals, they spread the dust of a monster onto the thing that monster loved most. Their essence then lives on in that item.
Asriel’s dust was scattered across the garden, so his essence lived on in the flowers.
When Alphys gave life to a flower, the essence of Asriel made it so that the flower had all of Asriel’s memories. However, because the flower was soulless, he could not feel emotions very deeply. He no longer felt loved or respected, and he didn’t feel connected to the people around him.
Flowey also discovered the power to reset. This meant that he could restart the timeline from the day he first woke up in the garden. He discovered this power after trying to commit suicide. His death resulted in him respawning at the garden. He presumably got this power because of the determination Alphys had given him.
Flowey, despite being emotionless, tried to be nice in many timelines. He tried helping people, and being friends with people.
After his death as Asriel, Flowey blamed himself for his and the human’s death. He felt like if he had fought back against the humans, they would still be alive and free.
This eventually led to the decision of a terrible worldview: the idea that the world is “kill or be killed”.
After he had been through many timelines, Flowey realized that he had pretty much already tried everything. He had already made every decision. Already had every conversation. He thought of trying something new.
He decided he was done making friends.
As his LOVE increased, it became easier to hurt others. And since he did not have emotions, he didn’t feel very bad about it.
It’s Frisk’s decision whether or not to forgive him. I, personally, do. I especially think that his worldview changed at the end of the game, specifically because of Asriel’s line “don’t kill and don’t be killed”. While this was Asriel and not Flowey, I like to think that it stuck with him a little bit.
So I guess now I’m gonna talk more about like. My opinions and headcanons and stuff.
So I don’t think Flowey would ever want to be called “Asriel” again. He is a very different person than he used to be. He has been through so much and he can hardly be considered the same person, even if he has Asriel’s essence and memories. He also does not want to break anyone’s heart again, as he says.
It is an interesting discussion to be had, actually. What makes someone who they are? Like, is it their personality? Their memories? Their soul?
Flowey is not a monster and does not have Asriel’s soul. But he has Asriel’s essence and memories. His personality has changed a lot, but that was mostly over time. Idk.
I really wish we had known more about Flowey and Papyrus’ friendship. I find it weird that Papyrus doesn’t actually know his name? But maybe that’s just in this timeline, it’s possible that they were closer in some other timelines.
There’s a lot of fun dialogue about the two of them, especially in phone calls with Papyrus, but I feel like we still don’t know a lot. I wish we could have heard an actual conversation between them.
I do really feel like Flowey needs like. A therapist. He’s been through so much and he needs to like. Talk about it with someone.
He has seen his friend commit suicide, he has actually died, he has attempted suicide, he has become a soulless and emotionless flower, he has watched many people die multiple times- he just. Needs therapy I think.
I do really wonder what would happen if everyone else discovered that he was the prince. As I said, I think he’d be uncomfortable being called “Asriel”, but they’d probably be more likely to forgive him. I don’t think he’d want them to know, but if everyone else did actually find out, there’s a lot of possibilities for what could happen next.
In case anyone is wondering, I don’t think the first fallen human is a bad person, either. I don’t even think they’re to blame for the genocide route, Frisk (or the player) was the one killing people. They’ve been through pretty much the same things as Flowey and I think they deserve forgiveness too.
I agree with Asriel’s point that they may not have been the nicest person, but I don’t think that makes them horrible or undeserving of forgiveness and kindness.
Can I just say that. Asriel is so well-written. The entire plot twist that Flowey was Asriel all along blew my fucking mind. I love the videotapes and the fact that Asriel is the final boss and oh my god just everything about him.
So much thought went into this story. Toby really clearly wanted the player to care about these characters. And the player is not forced to forgive Flowey, the player doesn’t even need to like Flowey, but they’re supposed to notice that he is a complex character with a deep and important story. Flowey isn’t just some evil flower guy. There’s a reason behind everything he does. It’s amazing.
