Twisted Affection: The Complex Dynamic of Hannibal and Will
A Deep Dive into Their Twisted Connection of Love, Power, and Control.
The Beginning of the Obsession
When Hannibal first meets Will, he is intrigued—not by Will’s skill as a profiler, but by his vulnerability. Will's ability to empathize with serial killers allows him to understand their minds, but it also leaves him emotionally exposed. Hannibal, ever the manipulator, sees an opportunity to control and mold Will, drawing him into a world where love and violence are inseparable. For Hannibal, this is not just a bond with another person; it's an opportunity to create something perfect in his own image.
Will's Complicated Draw
Will’s side of the dynamic is equally complex. Initially, he sees Hannibal as a mentor—someone who can understand him, someone who is both detached from the world and yet oddly compassionate. However, as their relationship deepens, Will begins to feel the pull of Hannibal’s influence. There’s an attraction to the strength and power Hannibal exudes, but also a creeping fear that this man might be pushing him to the edge of madness. Will starts to see the darkness in himself that Hannibal has long seen, and it’s hard to resist the temptation of embracing it.
Love or Control?
The crux of their relationship is that Hannibal’s version of love is not about affection or mutual respect. It’s about control. For him, love is the act of possessing the other person completely—bringing them into his world, reshaping them until they are a reflection of him. This is evident in how he guides Will toward darker actions, encouraging him to embrace his darker impulses rather than running from them. He doesn’t want Will to just love him; he wants Will to become him.
Will, for his part, is both repelled and fascinated by Hannibal. There’s a part of him that resists—he knows that Hannibal’s love comes with dangerous strings attached—but there’s another part of him that longs to belong to someone so deeply. As the series progresses, Will becomes more and more intertwined in Hannibal’s web, until it becomes impossible to tell where Will ends and Hannibal begins.
Hannibal’s Love for Will
Despite his manipulative nature, Hannibal does have a form of love for Will—though it's not conventional. It's not the romantic love we're used to seeing, but something darker and more possessive.
Hannibal is attracted to Will’s vulnerability and complexity, seeing him as someone who is both fragile and capable of great darkness—a reflection of himself. His love for Will is deeply obsessive. He wants to mold Will, not just corrupt him, but also bring him into his world and make him his equal. This is why Hannibal continues to try and manipulate Will's emotions and decisions, often nurturing Will’s darker side (through their shared killings and manipulation) while also acting like a protective figure. He wants Will to see him as the only one who truly understands him and be with him in this twisted partnership.
Corrupting and Power
However, Hannibal's love for Will isn't without its ulterior motives. Part of his attraction is the idea of dominating Will's psyche and transforming him into his perfect partner—someone who shares his worldview and moral ambiguity. Hannibal wants control over Will, to shape him and bring him into his darkness, even if it means Will losing himself. In that sense, Will is both a subject of love and a canvas for Hannibal to work his influence on. It’s not just about corrupting for the sake of corruption; it’s about creating a bond that transcends normal love—one that makes Will Hannibal’s equal in every way, even if that means pushing him to the brink of madness.
Does He Truly Love Will?
Yes, in his own way, Hannibal does love Will. It’s just not the traditional kind of love. His affection is twisted, manipulative, and intense. He’s willing to destroy Will in order to have him by his side. But at the same time, it’s not all about power and control; there’s genuine care (even if it’s warped) and desire to be with Will, no matter what the cost.
The Ultimate Act of Possession
Hannibal views Will as his—a creation—and he sees killing him as a way to keep Will forever. The idea is that death would bond them in an eternal way, preventing Will from ever truly escaping him. It's a twisted version of love, where Will can never escape Hannibal, even in death.
Does He Love Will Enough to Let Him Live?
The key tension in their relationship is that Hannibal does love Will, but he loves him in a way that’s far from healthy. His love is about ownership and creating a perfect match, but it’s also about testing Will’s loyalty and pushing him to places of extreme psychological and emotional vulnerability. The question of whether Hannibal truly wants to kill Will is complicated because, on some level, he doesn’t want to lose him; but on another level, the act of killing him could solidify their bond in a way that Will could never escape. At the end of Season 2, it’s almost like Hannibal’s idea of love and possession becomes so intense that he’s willing to destroy what he loves in order to keep it. Will's survival, in his eyes, could be just as much of a test of his control as Will’s death.
The Tragic Beauty of Their Bond
Ultimately, their relationship is tragic because it represents a love that is not built on a foundation of mutual care or understanding, but on manipulation and obsession. There’s beauty in the way they connect—it’s raw, intense, and full of emotional depth—but it’s also deeply destructive. Neither character is ever able to fully break free from the other, and in the end, they are both consumed by their own need for each other.Their bond speaks to the darker side of human nature: the way we can become entangled with another person, even when we know that it will ultimately lead to our undoing. There is something hauntingly compelling about their connection—a love that exists in the gray area between passion and destruction, a dynamic where neither side can exist without the other.
The relationship between Hannibal and Will is one that defies traditional understanding of love. It’s a bond that exists in the shadows, where affection and manipulation are indistinguishable, where obsession replaces genuine emotional connection. Their dynamic is a powerful exploration of how desire can become destructive when twisted by control and psychological games. In the end, neither Hannibal nor Will can escape the pull of their mutual darkness, making their bond not only fascinating but tragically inevitable. Their love, such as it is, is a stark reminder that sometimes the most enthralling relationships are the ones that destroy us in the end.

The Lord and Butler dynamic
The relationship between Thorne and Sebastian in Shadow’s Embrace is a complex, emotionally charged dynamic built on tension, curiosity, and an unspoken, growing connection. At its core, it is a story of contrast—light and shadow, warmth and coldness, naivety and experience—gradually intertwining in ways neither of them fully understands.
Thorne:
Thorne is the heart of this relationship—persistent, open, and quietly yearning for connection. Despite Sebastian’s cold demeanor, he refuses to be deterred, seeking answers, understanding, and, at the very least, friendship. His curiosity about Sebastian is more than just fascination; it's a deep, intrinsic need to break through the walls the butler so carefully maintains. Thorne’s loneliness fuels his desire to reach out, making him emotionally vulnerable, yet unwavering.
Sebastian:
Sebastian, on the other hand, is the carefully controlled force resisting Thorne’s pull. Haunted by his past, bound by secrets, and tormented by feelings he cannot afford to have, he keeps Thorne at arm’s length with sharp words and calculated distance. But beneath his cold exterior, there are cracks—moments of hesitation, unguarded looks, and fleeting vulnerabilities that reveal the turmoil within. He sees Thorne as both a temptation and a danger, someone who threatens the careful equilibrium he has maintained for centuries.
Their Dynamic:
Their relationship is a slow-burning, gothic unraveling of emotions—filled with tension, misunderstandings, and unspoken desires. Thorne keeps pushing, even when Sebastian rejects him, and Sebastian, despite himself, keeps slipping—his restraint tested, his carefully built defenses wearing thin. It’s a delicate dance of proximity and distance, of fear and longing.
Though Thorne doesn’t yet understand the depth of what lies beneath Sebastian’s surface, and Sebastian refuses to acknowledge what he feels, their story is one of inevitable collision. As they continue to cross each other’s paths, the question isn’t whether they will change one another—but how much.

Superfan by truublooo* Via Flickr: Sometime last year, in the dingy alley behind a dive club outside the Regulated Zone, this photo captures Enrique Suavero with the lovely Oxana Battolova. The cracked pavement was littered with discarded flyers and cigarette butts, while faint strains of muffled music seeped through the club’s back door. A handful of scrappy correspondents hovered nearby, adjusting their lenses and murmuring quietly, while a pretty correspondent from Strolling Bones calmly stepped forward and asked with a confident smile, “Enrique, Enrique...who’s the young lady with you tonight?”
Flashing an expression full of pride, Enrique replied, “She is beautiful, isn’t she? I am a very lucky man.”
“You are so silly, Dad!” Oxana chimed in, playfully elbowing him.
Under the flickering glow of still dim streetlights, the duo struck an exaggerated pose, Enrique shredded an imaginary guitar with the energy of a gritty stage performance, while Oxana delivered an overly dramatic curtsy, her heels scraping against the pavement. The correspondents exchanged amused glances as they captured the absurd yet oddly endearing scene, now part of the Strolling Bones archives.

And now on with the show:
Characterdynamics between my OC (Wyrm) and the main cast of SflV
Gothetta/Gruftine: Since the kids are now in their worst teen years (between 14 and 16) Gruftine is now ofc in her experimental phase and also where she’s looking for more female role models than whatever Kryptina is for her.
So once she spots the mysterious young Tatzelwoman, who gives out drinks and uses small amounts of magic in a creepy cave, while wearing a nieche mix of erololita and steampunk with a carnival touch, she’s of course intrigued. And since Ivané isn’t that far past from puberty yet and can recall her own feelings during that time pretty well, she manages to relate to Gruftine pretty well and give her advice (especially with her romantic interests), help out (like having her back when Gruftine knows she fucked up), goes on adventures with her and overall becoming an unconventional older–sister character to her.
Overall their relationship in my head is pretty wholesome.
Oskar: Oh, Boy! If you found this account via my little comics, you know exactly how the poor guy learned about Ivané!XD
At first he’s traumatized by her and his uncles relationship, but eventually he accepts her and her shenanigans and warms up to her, but not as close as Grusfine is with her.
He still takes her advice from time to time and sometimes she has to be a mediator between him and his uncle, when they got beef again.
And they share a similar taste for music, so she sometimes takes him and whoever else is coming to a party or rave that’s not too age restricted. So she’s at some point more of a step–in–Guardian than a surrogate parent.
Klot: To clarify: Ivané is NOT good with really young children! Infact, she’s pure shit at babysitting and she knows it. So good for Klot that he’s already between 11 and 13 in this AU!
They met because the count just one day spawned at her place, dropped him off and their conversation went somewhat like this:
„Hold this for a sec, gurl, I‘m busy rn!“
„But I–„
„I know, you’re abysmal dogshit at this but I believe in you!“ *Drops Klot, turns into a fruitbat and despawns*
And after staring at each other for minutes, she resumes to work at the bar, playing some cardgames with him, when conveniently nobody is around, with a sign at the entrance that read „Please only come in when: badly injured, hiding from armed pursuers or threats or looking for an non +18 conversations! I was randomly forced to babysit!“
Most of their conversations where Klot asking questions about her experiences like „What does it feel like to die“ and then she either answers it or takes off into storytelling about one of her adventures, manifesting as a flashback to the viewer.
She also does her best to hold back her vulgar language around him, but she does slip up sometimes and he picks up on it quickly!XD
So yeah, she‘s more of an awkward guardian around him.
Leechy: Wyrm might be using technology and can build or fix simpler mechanisms when she needs to, but she’s really got more of the art–autism while Leechy (at least according to many headcannons) is more of the science–autistic.
The only thing they really connect over is their shared social struggles (her teaching him social skills while he helps her with fixing a more complex machine) he’s also more interested of her stories about times where she worked at more sci–fi esque settings or the one time she flew to space.
Otherwise she just drops him off with her more sciency friends or is his guardian when no one else is in the mood to go with him to nerdy places like a museum or a science fair.
Fletscher/Stoker: Most of the time she despises him and his bullying of Oskar and kicks his arse from now and then (and the count lets it slide since he caught on to the mistreatment of his nephew by now and that’s the only way he can punish him without looking like a jerk himself) he despises her too and tries to provoke her (especially infront of Oxblood).
They do have sincere but short conversations from time to time where they have to begrudgingly admit that they are both eccentric little gremlins to different degrees who‘re both really bad at math.
So their relationship isn’t so beneath the belt like with Oxblood but more rooted in her sense for justice and him being somewhat put in his place when she’s around.
Okay, that‘s it for now

Bangel!
When I started shipping them: I don't know, Bangel was kind of just always there. When it was on air, I was a kid and my cousin was really into it so I watched it secondhand but I wasn't REALLY into BtvS as a kid but when I thought of BtvS I thought of Bangel, always. And then when I watched it as an adult, it was just like I already shipped them? So there wasn't really a moment.
My thoughts: I have a masterlist
What makes me happy about them: They're tragic: https://zalrb.tumblr.com/post/694502336171786240/which-characterdynamic-do-you-prefer-angel-or
What makes me sad about them: They're tragic
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: I suppose people not introduced in BtvS or AtS, like entirely new characters and I'd be comfortable with it because I know that they'd move on because life moves on but they also never move on, they both know that if they could be together they absolutely would be in a second.
My happily ever after for them: Mutual pining tbh.

Hello Dearies 😁
I want to introduce myself:
I started watching Once upon a time in November 2019 and decided to jump in the Fandom by creating a blog after I wachted it till the end.
What brought me in the fandom?
- Short answer: Rumple/Gold/Weaver.
He catched my interest since the first season and was mainly my reason to watch it. (I mean, look at him😍 He's hot, sassy, intelligent... have I mentioned hot? I like all versions of him, but his character in s1-s3A was the best. (All past that made me a bit sad how his character was treated after Neal died)
What are my ouat ships? (no ranking order)
Rumbelle - I liked it really much in s1-s3A. The age gap is something I found interesting and the characterdynamic as a whole. (rumple beeing in love and not entirely pretending to be the big bad is my attraction 😍😭 He has a soft spot❤️) But sometimes it was totally ruined, the torture began with s4 and ends with s6...👿😡
Golden Queen - I shipped it since s1. Not as much as the canon rumbelle since s1, but I liked the dynamic between those snarky, sassy villians. Sometimes they are enemies, sometimes they are friends/companions😏 but they stuck in the same situation - deep down both want to be loved. And that is why I became a fan of this ship.
One of my fav scene regarding GQ:
where regina and rumple are talking at the beach of neverland, and Regina tells him, that if he dies, than it would be her who kills him 😏😁 (I mean, If that's not a form of care/love 😏)
Something I had mixed feelings about:
As the seasons went on (and rumbelle was too bad written to focus on it for me mainly) I lost it as in s6 golden queen was becoming a thing - seriously I never thought that😂😂 But I liked the past relationship of rumple/gold/regina much more... (The affair was hot and I fangirled hard about it... but... it seemed it was made just for the plot (which has to ruin rumbelle! 🙃 and hey, why not taking the evil queen and pair her up with rumple🙃 As a fan of GQ I found the writing in s6... improvable. Not really satistying - neither for my rumbelle- nor for my GQ feelings... . And rumple's whole character was... out of place sometimes.
Golden Swan
Seriously, I never thought about that ship before I discovered there were actually fanfics about that 😁 And this catched my interest; I wanted to understand why people ship it. So I started to read ffs and now I really like the pairing dynamic of this two. It's hard to imagine it, bc in the series the scences they shared are... all other thsn romantic in my opinion. (But I like the sass Emma reacts with when Gold makes a comment - no one wanted to lose against the other, and the word battles in ffs could be really amusing to me😳)
Golden Hook
I ship it platonic. I really loved how s7 resolved about that two. And thanks to tumblr I really see the gifs of incorrect GH could be canon as well 😂😂 I wish the relationsship between them was more growing in s2-s6.
What am I doing now, since ouat isn't ongoing?
Searching for hot Robert Cartyle/rumple/Gold/Weaver content on tumblr 😏😏

Watch list December 2021
Currently watching after listening to Mother's basement channel recommendations all day
Story of Seiunkoku - historical political romance with shojo vibes, but with incredible rating and seemingly good plot intrigue. I love good character dynamics wrapped in reverse harem since Yona...
Tumblr media
Kaiba - scifi memory anime that won an award, has high rating and very intriguing premise & style
Tumblr media
Arslan - political intrigue, bromance, prince fighting to prove himself to his country with strategies (I'm here for the protectivness and the hot bodyguard)
Tumblr media
Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi - slice of life and fantasy mixed together with some romance? Looks cool. We just need more Shirayuki anime
Tumblr media
Alderamin - genius calculating hero who doesn't care, war, strategy, cool characters
Tumblr media
Acca - political slow burn anime with friendships, differences, cultures
Tumblr media
House of five leaves - two guys show each other a way to better life
Tumblr media
86 - military political action, discrimination, similar to Iron-blooded orphans, high rating
Tumblr media
Snow white notes - music and characterdynamics, new adult
Tumblr media
Sonny boy
Tumblr media
Watching in winter 2021:
Takt op
Faraway Paladin
Blue period
Remake your life
Sonny boy
Snow-white notes
Honorable mentions:
Rising of the shield Hero
Receators
Deca dence
Jormungand
Kekkai sensen
Kiznaiver
Appare ranman
Finished shows September-December 2021:
Bungou stray dogs* - great complex cast, nice urban fantasy adventure with cool powers
Kemono Jihen* - very cute and straighforward found family bonding, action and urban fantasy
Hanako kun* - great ghost story with romantic untertones and moral questions, nuanced characters, recommend
Bakuten* - heartwarming sports show, memorable characters, fun dynamics, nice h/c at the end, bromance
Tower of God - great bromance and sweet moments, fantasy and magic in a cool setting
Villianess - dropped after 6 episodes, cute and easygoing, very simple dialogues though
Heike story - dropped after 2 episodes, too confusing and not going anywhere
My senpai is annoying - cute slice of life, fresh setting with new adulting instead of high school, a bit repetitive
Seirei no Moribito - political adventure action fantasy bodyguard - just really made me angry in the first episode with the plot hole - she needs to save the prince as her 8th person after saving his life already? And idk kinda boring
Political fantasy to watch
Alderamin on the sky - military fantasy adventure with owerpowerd lazy MC
House of Five Leaves - historical samurai
Acca - diplomatic political fantasy travel, police, seinen
GATE - science fiction political dimension travel
Shoukoku no Altair - uniting differences in people, political fantasy
Arslan Senki - historical political fantasy adventure, banished prince
Banished from the Hero’s party - slice of life fantasy romance, 2021, 13eps
Grancrest Senki - political fantasy romance
Finished May 2022
Kingdom - chinese, military, political, ongoing. Great story, excellent characters, interesting setting. Like a shonen story but in a war, where you opponents die. There is lot of tragic death and the plot is kinda repeterive. The series is stronger when the two main guys are together and loves from the chemistry of their friendship. They are however seperated for most of the arcs.
Akudama drive - beautiful animation, interesting creative dystopian scifi setting, unique characters. The tragic end doesn't sit well with me though. Stories lose me when they end sadly. Also a patchwork story. They combined Suicide squad with Courier and Leon, with a tiny bit of Matrix.
My dress up darling - good characters, terrible fanservice, annoying side female characters get added just for the emberassment of it. Dropped at half for being exhausing.
Horimiya - This anime deserves its fame and hype. Wholesome cute story with interesting painful messages, romance and bromance top notch.
Spy X Family - still ongoing but first half was great. Funny, sarcastic, sweet in the best ways. Lives from the irony and secrets of the characters playing pretend for various reasons slowly falling for the family act and becoming more and more attached.
Watched January 2023
Romantic Killer - excellent slice of life romance comedy anime. It has everything, great cast, funny and emotional moments, great male friendships, awesome girl friendships, a strong kickass main heroine who doesn't care about romance, but makes wholesome relationships instead 💖
Tomo-chan is a girl! - ongoing slice of life romance comedy show. Very similar to Romantic Killer in vibe and feeling, but the characters stand on their own. Great trio of girls, great childhood friends to lovers slow burn where you can count cute moments.
Under the heaven - after catching up on Akatsuki no Yona manga and finishing Kingdom, I was on lookout for a historical brotherhood fighting anime...this was hectic, confusing, bold and ehhh. Lots of old dudes laughing and one eating his own eye. Weird. Not really interested to watch further than 2 episodes.
Sengoku Basara - 2 episodes and dropped. Actiony supernatural fighting anime. I was hoping for the rivalry to friendships and maybe some whump, but it's pretty repetitive and big scale and there are lots of screaming stupid villains wasting the screen time I didn't have the patience for.
