Today, April 26, is the International Day of Remembrance of the Chornobyl Disaster.

Chernobyl accident: Today is the 38th anniversary of the largest man-made disaster of the last century.

A cloud of radioactive dust hit Ukraine, Belarus, the Russian Federation and parts of Europe. After the accident, 8.5 million people were exposed to radiation.

Today marks 38 years since one of the greatest tragedies in human history occurred.

A lot has been said, written, invented, drawn and sung.

The main thing that will remain forever is the desire of people to help their neighbor, to know the truth and to seek justice in all ways.

Even if sometimes this justice can only be found at the bottom of one's own heart.

Today marks the sombre anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in human history. The Chernobyl disaster didn’t just change the world, it permanently etched into our collective consciousness the importance of safety and respect for the power of nature. Let this symbol serve as a warning and a lesson to us all, a call to action to prevent future catastrophes and to preserve history for generations to come. We remember, we learn, we act.

I was rewatching ep 23 of Well Theres Your Problem podcast, they were talking about the Chernobyl exclusion zone and Alice said "The wildlife were returning they were sitting on barrels playing balalaikas" I was so enamored by that image I had to draw it

The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was one of the largest in the Soviet Union and the poster child of the Soviet nuclear power industry. As such, little expense was spared on details like these windows.

The Soviet Union often used motifs in abstract art to promote Communism and laude their successes.
