Homage to Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators.

In 2017, the United Nations declared September 30 International Translation Day. In doing so, it sought to highlight “the work of professional linguists and the important part they play in bringing nations closer together.” This decision was taken by the General Assembly, which numbers 193 member states.

The date was chosen in homage to Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators, having been the first to translate the Bible into Latin. Curiously, the Bible is the most translated work in history. According to specialists in the sector, it has been translated into more than 2,000 languages, playing a crucial role in the spread of Christianity around the world.

Nowadays, this profession is of immense value in ensuring greater understanding among peoples. The UN has six official languages (Spanish, English, French, Arabic, Russian and Chinese) although specialists employed by national delegations work in dozens of languages throughout the year to facilitate work within the organization.

In short, translation and interpreting will continue to play a vital role in society. Non-profit organizations such as Translators Without Borders deserve our deepest gratitude on this day. We wish to say how proud we are of their role in breaking down language barriers and making a better world.

It's quite an interesting concept, I must say. The animation is really good, and there are some genuinely hilarious moments in it! I wonder if we'll get a season 2, and if so, I'd love to see more characters make a cameo!

Feitan Head Cannon

Feitan does not like giving out compliments. So much so that you've grown used to the smart ass remarks and little insults wat he would throw wat you. At this point you find them to be terms of endearment. But there are times in the quiet moments when he'll tell you little things in his first language. Knowing that you won't understand what he's saying, he'll whisper compliments to you and watch your nose scrunch up in confusion as you pester him to tell you what he said.

people who think sy is a bad / unkind person are literally falling for his own self-brainwashing lmfao. he demonstrates time and time again that even though he himself thinks of him as a terrible, unkind, manipulative person, he continually goes out of his way to do good by other people even when he conceivably gains no reward for doing so. he helps people and then formulates a selfish reason for it after the fact. the other characters aren't just stupidly following him around defending him for no reason - they like him because he is ultimately a good, kind person that they like and want to protect. a flawed person, but one that is ultimately good by nature. tapping my forehead repeatedly

Chinese is used as Official Languages at U.N. Headquarters.

On 24 June 1946, Security Council adopted its Provisional Rules of Procedure S/96, naming Chinese as official languages, and English and French as working languages.

On 18 December 1973, General Assembly resolution 3189 (XXVIII) included Chinese as a working language of the General Assembly and suggested the Security Council consider adding Chinese as a working language.

On 17 January 1974, Security Council resolution 345 (1974) decided to include Chinese as a working language of the Security Council.

carp are considered lucky in chinese culture - its what im basing their ‘powers’ on, they have good and bad luck

also gave a name to the destined one since ‘destined one’ is a mouth full

name i picked for him is yēzi (椰子) which means coconut!! was looking up stone fruit and cocnuts re one of them, plus he was (presumably) born on flower fruit mountain, he might have been given a fruit name before being whisked away to train for his destiny
