Question for everyone older/wiser than me in my Marvel fandom:

Sometimes, I feel like people choose to be offended at things they don't need to be offended at. Is this adulthood, or am I tripping?

And no, obviously, I don't mean 'they choose to be offended' in situations like when there is clear-cut abuse or racism or something vile like that. As a black woman. 10000% be offended. It's not a choice then. I mean, honestly, i dont even like that phrase: 'Choose to be offended' (it's been used by too many gaslighters), but for lack of a better one, I'm using it.

What my question is reffering to is when for example, people get offended over someone having a different opinion on, say, a fandom topic or reading a post by someone, purposely misunderstanding their point, then listing all the reasons why that person is wrong before reading the post properly. As I've grown, I've noticed that more.

Hi! Hello! Hey!

I've been going through A Time and have chosen to cope by going back to the specific vibes of 2016 to 2018. That happens to include an incredible resurgence in my love for MCU fanfic, the community around it and all the love that goes into them. I've felt a bit distant from here for a while, but I still see so many of my old friends writing, ones who want to get back into it, and a whole lot of new writers I am dying to meet.

I've floated this idea vaguely on my blog and people seem to be interested so I figured it was worth a shot!

So yeah, welcome to Ari's Old School, Nostalgia Jam, Why-The-Hell-Not MCU Fic Writing Challenge 2024!

Pairing: Clint Barton/Marc Spector

Warning: mention of injuries.

He finds Clint sleeping on the couch in his office.

An ice pack lies on his forehead. A poorly applied bandage that has reddish spots is in danger of falling off at any moment. Bruises and scratches adorn his skin. Sighing, Marc sits down on the couch and begins to re-wrap the bandage on his upper arm. Although he is careful and tries not to wake Clint, it seems to be enough for Clint to wake up.

“Hey,” Clint murmurs, grinning sleepily at him. “Hey,” Marc replies, pulling the mask off his face. Clint still wears a hearing aid, but it's always better when the piece of cloth isn't there. “What happened to your pretty face?” asks Marc, gently pressing against a bruise on his jaw.

“The usual,” Clint says with a shrug and reaches for his hand so that Marc stops poking at the stain. “For a sniper, you have quite a few fistfights.” “Sometimes a fight requires fists,” Clint says under his breath and Marc makes a disapproving noise.

"You have to be careful-" Clint whispers, sitting up. The ice pack slips from his head. “One would think you would care about me.” "They're nothing but rumors," Marc replies, a slight smile on his lips as he leans in and kisses Clint.
