From a WaPo article, quoted on Spoutible:

Lol, they say this like it's a bad thing.
"Oh, a President who actually reads their briefings, knows what they're talking about, and doesn't just get lead around by the nose by their handlers? Heaven forbid!"
If she was a man, nobody would attack her for this.

One of Rincewind's tutors had said of him that "to call his understanding of magical theory abysmal is to leave no suitable word to describe his grasp of its practice." This had always puzzled him. He objected to the fact that you had to be good at magic to be a wizard. He knew he was a wizard, deep in his head. Being good at magic didn't have anything to do with it. That was just an extra, it didn't actually define someone.

Something else I really love about Xena that I haven’t talked about so far: the competency of her enemies.
I love how with the male enemies, they’re never strong or intelligent enough to beat Xena, but she has much more of a challenge and struggle with female enemies.
Xena’s female enemies, adversaries or villains tend to have much more competency when it comes to opposing Xena in battle than any male enemies do.
There’s really only a few male ones that present a bit more of the threat and danger to Xena and they happen to be the ones that have an attraction to, fall in love and once had a relationship with her. Like Ares and Caesar.
But they pale in comparison to the likes of Callisto, Najara and Alti - who make Xena really WORK HARD.
I just really love that about the show because it proves it’s truly women-led when both the protagonists and antagonists are only competent when they’re female.
In particular Najara is the one I’m thinking about the most with this because she was attracted to Gabrielle and she literally beat Xena to a bloody pulp over her
and I mean…. Xena lost a good chewing tooth 🦷 ouch.
The only way she could beat her was to play her to the same weakness that she had. The safety of Gabrielle.
You saw the concern on her face that she worried she was too tough. That she couldn’t defeat this enemy because she knew - were it the other way around - absolutely no one would be able to stop her either.
Had they never reduced Najara to a psycho zealot…
I reckon she would have been Xena’s greatest enemy because the most important thing of all was at stake.
Maybe they knew that was very much a possibility, so they decided they had to reduce the character instead to give Xena the counterpoint against her. The final win.
Najara was a very compelling character and narrative until that second episode where they just made her insane. She was a part of the show that informed both Xena and Gabrielle significantly in that first episode because she presented a real dilemma for both of them that could have been a very interesting season-long arc.

Hello! Can you please give some information about a defiant patient? For example if a patient has refused to eat, refuses and IV, refuses, refuses, yet needs help without exception, what can/does a hospital do?
So.
There are a couple scenarios your character might fit into.
Scenario 1: if your character is an adult and has the mental capacity and legal competency to make their own decisions, they are allowed to refuse whatever they want.
If the patient is refusing everything, the nurse and then the doctor will talk with them and explain the risks if they continue to refuse. They may be offered alternatives or a second opinion, and they have the right to ask for one. If the patient continues to refuse, they may be offered the option to leave against medical advice. If they refuse this, but continue to refuse all care, they may be discharged against their will.
Scenario 2: if your character does not have the legal competency (say, a minor or someone who is severely intellectually disabled and has a guardian), they can be forced into care.
In this situation, someone else (a parent or guardian) has made the decision for the person to receive care, and the hospital staff are carrying out those wishes. Hopefully the patient goes along with it, but if they don't, it is ultimately up to the decision maker, and the patient can be forced to receive that care.
Scenario 3: If your character has legal competency (they are an adult and make their own decisions in day-to-day life), but, say, they lack capacity temporarily (for example, they have taken a substance that impairs their ability to make decisions, or they are unconscious or severely confused due to an illness or injury), consent is typically implied (i.e. the understanding is that if this person were in their right mind, they would want a medical professional to figure out what was wrong with them and treat them). In this case, they may be forced into care.
An example of this is a head injury, in which many people are combative and may refuse care. However, the refusals are due to the disease process, and a doctor can assess whether they have intact decision-making or not. If they determine that the person's decision-making capacity is not intact, they can force them into care. If the person's decision making is still intact, forcing them into care could constitute assault, battery, or false imprisonment, depending on what was done (see scenario 1).

So I’m thinking about Jake and his competency… and I think what really gets me about it is that he’s known as the tech guy. And yes, we’ve established that he’s so capable of more than that, but I think what makes it hit extra hard is the fact that Jake’s athleticism and ability to gauge battle situations well, in addition to being highly adaptable and flexible, comes as a surprise. So often, being socially awkward, or smart like he is, is mutually exclusive to these athletic and strategic abilities. But he proves this stereotype wrong. He’s just an exceptionally well-rounded and hard worker. Thoughts?

queer masculinity is so attractive like the way you carry yourself is so hot. the confidence, the self assurance, god like i go so dumb about it. maybe it’s the competency, i dunno because i see it and my brain starts leaking out of my ears.

You can find plenty of examples of doctors who are brilliant at medicine but have a lousy "bedside manner" — it's a well-worn character archetype in fiction — but you never really see the reverse (and for good reason). When was the last time you heard something like 'oh, he's a terrible surgeon — kills more of his patients than he saves — but damned if he doesn't have a great bedside manner; the hospital keeps him around because he's just so darn likable'?

Making Your Report for RPEng Australia
Writing a Competency Report By RPEng Australia while not very much knowing what it should have inside would be an impractical exercise from the get-go. This is to describe your competencies and capabilities as an engineer and the application of those in real-life situations.
