For as much as I love Animorphs, I’ve never actually read it in order all the way through. It was always scattered entries, whatever I could find at the library or buy at garage sales. There’s even a small handful I haven’t read at all. That’s why, for my New Year’s resolution, I plan to reread the series in its entirety. However, I know how my brain works, and I’m afraid I might lose motivation and quit too soon. That’s why, after each book, I will add to this post with, in my opinion, the most fucked-up part of the book, as well as the silliest part (because anyone who’s read these books knows that those are the two main tenets of the series). That way, I’ll have a publicly available record to hold myself accountable to if I start slacking, plus a nice thread of propaganda to hopefully suck more people in. I plan to read one mainline book a week, starting with:

Gideon the ninth AU where Harrow is a haunted house, only literally.

She is number nine, built on the site of an atrocity. There’s blood in her dirt and there’s blood in her supports and there’s bones in her foundation. And there’s a woman’s corpse in the attic, mummified but beautiful.

Harrow loves the corpse but doesn’t think it’s hers— she can’t remember very well. Harrow is the house and the house is Harrow and she knows the memories of the timber and the stone and the brick and the bones and not which one is hers.

Harrow passes through the hands of a series of really old parishioners, and she finds them— tolerable. Fine. They’re just dying, and there’s nothing about death that scares her anymore.

And then the house starts to fail to be up to code.

And so a younger woman moves in with her drill and her paintbrush and her shiny new contractor’s certification. And Harrow HATES her.

Harrow hates that she is installing new plumbing and Harrow hates that she is fixing the wiring and Harrow hates her because she—

she—

she has a reason but she just can’t REMEMBER it. Why can’t she remember it?

Harrow starts having jumbled and confused memories. In return she haunts the SHIT out of Gideon, who removes all the gas lines, and then scours the house for black mold, and then—

And then Gideon has to leave and Harrow wants her to stay.

Harrow is—

— Ten dead trees—

— three tons of hot river mud—

— two hundred dead children—

— eighteen. And dead.

And when she was eighteen and new-dead, Gideon left, and now she is eighteen still— or twenty-six— or ageless, sliding up and down time— and Gideon is gone.

And Harrow is a haunted house and Harrow is an atrocity, and Harrow can’t come with.

My Art Progress Across roughly 7 years

Let's see how many images I can shove into a single post So over on the tweeter there's been a trend of people posting comparisons of old art with their more recent art. Well this lead me to picking through my older art and putting together a little timeline, starting with the oldest digital art I still have some kind of copy of.

2015-16 (age 13-14) printed copies of some of my earliest digital art. In middle school, they had us make envelopes to be sent to us when we graduated high school. So of course I put some of my art in, which is the only reason these have survived, as the original files are long gone.

2017 At this point, these were being done with Sketchbook on an LG tablet (same for the 2015-16 art) with one of those touchscreen pens with a rubber end. Those pens aren't exactly made to be dragged around the screen that much, and quickly wore holes in the rubber. I think I went through 2-3 of them.

2018 It was this year I got my first proper art tablet, a Wacom Intuos pen tablet. All my digital art since then has been on one. At some point, the original one stopped working, I think in early to mid 2019. Got replaced with another of the same kind, which is still going strong. Before all that, though, I still did a few on the LG that I still have. When I did switch to the computer, I kept with Sketchbook for a while before getting FireAlpaca.

2019 At some point, FireAlpaca simply stopped working on my computer. Not clue why, but I couldn't fix it and so needed to find a new program to use. I feel as though I may have used some other programs, but I can't recall any of them, eventually though I found Krita on Steam and began using it.

2020 (age 18) Graduation year (among other things). I can find a lot of 2017 drawings, but not many 2018-19 ones. This is likely because I was at the high of my depression and anxiety in high school, and I didn't exactly have the time or motivation to do much drawing in between panic attacks and depressive episodes. I was actually hospitalized when I was 17 and after getting out I started to get a lot better (just in time for the plague to hit.)

Ace the bat hound becomes a ghost dog because he's such a good boy and dedicated to justice. Inspired off of this post here.

But, instead of being found out by Danny, it's the batfam's usual mystic contacts, like Constantine, that discover and reunite Ace and the Bats. Constantine muttering about how annoyingly resilient the particular brand of ghost is. From the infinite realms, Ghosts from there are a headache and a half to get rid of but portals, information, and really anything about it is far and few between since no one's been able to get into contact since some fight a couple centuries ago (Dark being sealed away). Justice Leauge Dark promises to let the family know if they hear anything or find any relevant information about the Infinite Realms, but since literally nothing has been heard from them in so long, no one really knows anything off the top of their head about it.

While Ace is technically supposed to be hidden away at home, he ends up sneaking along one day to help deal with Joker after the clown kidnaps Nightwing and/or Robin (Damian). The photos and videos of the event are blurry and smudged, but word of mouth gets around, and soon, the entirety of Gotham is celebrating the return of Bat Hound the Ghost, the very good boy back from the grave.

Meanwhile, things are going great for the family, just having Ace back makes everyone feel just a bit better (because Ace is a full ghost with a core and is helping to filter the currupt ectoplasm called Lazarus Water with physical touch). Jason is over more often and enjoys flopping on the couch with Ace for a quick snooze, Dick is over the moon to fight with Ace by his side again, Damian makes sure Ace is properly introduced to the rest of the animals that live at the mansion, Tim actually falls asleep semi-regularly now after Ace starts bothering him about being awake, and everyone else is reaping the benefits of having a bat trained dog that seems to be able to sniff out when they need a dog to pet.

Then these guys in white show up.

Ace had seemingly been on edge all night and when it was time to turn in for the night and let Signal come out for the day, Ace follows along, not listening to any command to stay home. Some of the others stay ready in the cave but they let Signal and Ace go out with the promise to call the moment something big happens.

Now, up until then, Ace's powers had been tallied up to: intangibility, invisibility, and occasional hovering/heightened jump. Every other exercise responded out as normal dog (except for the whole being dead thing). Maybe slightly higher emotional intelligence, but some dogs are just Like That. Through some tests, they do find that Ace has a new found hatred of Lazarus Water, but they don't find any obvious weakness that isn't a banishment spell which is as worrying as it is a relief.

So when these white suits start shooting using guns that glow the same green as Ace in Signals' vision and the shoots hit? Ace yelps in pain before seemingly barking out some kind of energy ball? And barreling into a wall so hard it cracked from another shot? Every single alarm that Signal can think to trip gets set off.

But not before one of the suits (one of the many suits, they're terrible fighters but there's just so many of them and two of them) takes out something that looks like a thermos and points it at Ace.

Within a second, Ace is gone.

Signal is so shocked he almost gets hit himself by the dozens of shots of energy blasts now aimed at him. He can't get to the white van in time before it speeds off.

so this is what ive gathered so far about the advantages and disadvantages of each team

GREEN NINJAS

Advantages:

PVP strong, various bases for each member, spawn in jungle biome, Etoiles

Disadvantages:

Every member for themself, fewer consistent players, ElQuackity, many conflicting leader personalities

SOULFIRE

Advantages:

Dedicated farming/resource team, consistent players, tactical when theyre on the same page, BBH

Disadvantages:

Spawn point in icy wasteland, uncoordinated game plans, uncoordinated timing, cat hits them with a frying pan :/, overconfidence, BBH

BOLAS ROJAS

Advantages:

Fuck it we ball, coordinated team efforts, coordinated timing into the late night, safe zone close to Center, good communication, Carre

Disadvantages:

Not overall pvp heavy, spawn point pretty much universally known, go through mountain to get to center
