assorted thoughts on : farrah & experiencing time non-linearly

@shieldborn asked . . . is farrah's time and memory effect something that manifests physically (ie. she will "wake up" in a "future" body) or more mental, where she still lives through time linearly, but remembers information out of sync? ie. does she remember things that haven't happened yet as if accessing future memories on top of current ones, or can she find herself in a future that she has no knowledge of.

i want to preface this by saying that explaining and understanding time in a way that is fundamentally different from how we experience it is incredibly difficult. it almost can't be explained because we don't have any frame of reference for such a thing. still, i will try my best to explain this how i write and understand the effects on farrah based on research i've done of other characters who fall into these tropes/situations.

farrah's experience of time is entirely mental, but in a way that is partially physical too. when she experiences things as a version of herself that is older/younger than the present time, she is sort of in a past/future body in some respects. she herself does not physically change, but it is her mind that is changed, and it's much more of something that is rooted deep in memory and consciousness more than it is an awareness thing if that makes sense at all. she's not necessarily "waking up" ever in a different time, but rather she suddenly gains or lacks certain amounts of knowledge and understand and muscle memory.

i think muscle memory is the best way to really explain it -- there will be days when she won't speak certain languages as fluently and that's never a conscious thing any of us do, it's not something we are doing with any awareness at all even. we might cringe at ourselves if we're not confident, but we don't fully know how we sound to people who themselves are fluent in certain languages.

there will be days where the places she tries to go aren't where she thinks they are, because she's following the muscle memory to get to them and not really the active one.

we know a lot and our memories go back very far, but we're not all necessarily conscious of every single memory and fact that we know -- we would be overwhelmed and unable to function if we did work like that. fun fact we have actual processes in our minds to filter stuff out and things fall away so we can focus and exist!! this understanding is essential to how farrah is experiencing and living every day with her state of mind. there are sudden gaps where there shouldn't be if she was living through it linearly mentally. there are sudden expansions of what she knows, things that she maybe hasn't learned yet or discovered or been told. and again, the frame of reference for so much of this is other people -- memories and knowledge are no different than language skills. she has no idea that she should know something or shouldn't know something else without having other people to look at and react.

this is partially why it is so difficult for her to share and seek help. beyond just being worried for her job, she fundamentally doesn't have the clearest understanding of what's happening to her, and when her mind is so constantly changing, it's so hard to keep track and feel tethered to a place and time.

re: does she remember things that haven't happened yet as if accessing future memories on top of current ones, or can she find herself in a future that she has no knowledge of -- because her experience of time is forwards and backwards, it's both. she is seeing it all at once and still has those present memories and awareness.

a lot of times, she is experiencing the world as if it's film slides stacked on top of each other. there are multiple images, and she has to reconcile the mental images with the reality in front of her. she's seeing faces but in her mind she's seeing them older/younger at times and that's deeply confusing and disorienting too.

our minds are not meant to work like this and it is confusing and hard to grasp, and she does struggle with it. i'm explaining this all out, but i think it will be a very long time until she grasps the language to convey any of this, and even longer before she understands what exactly is happening. it takes a great toll on her. it's a lot mentally and it's why she creates such specific guardrails for herself to fall back on, to simplify everything that's happening. it will continue happening to her, but, if she doesn't have to consciously always deal with it, and instead can focus on the work in front of her and these reminders, she will be okay.

Now I understand why the guy didn't reply directly to their post about AI artists and replied to the editor instead. Also, why does them and people like them like to throw the word boundaries yet they refuse to have it applied to them and their antics? I'll never understand the main side of the fandom jfc.

And yknow if they just got a alt and hopped in a yume space they could be upset about him getting a partner with people who would understand. Who wouldent judge them, who would share in the venting. It be safe. Away from his eyes and you can be as parasocial as you want.

There is a space, in this fandom where you can go do that shit. You can post whatever tf you want, but they actively want to act like thier better then it. Its mindboggling to me. Your not better then anyone you are just a good artist and a popular figure. just cause you talk to them and do work doesn’t make it more valid.

In thier lil statement they tried to backtrack and be like “well as long as you keep it away from them” as if posting about disliking partycrashers rpf of them dosent bring more attention to it. Bring it to thier attention.

im glad the boys are keeping shit professional in all aspects, they chat for buisness and thats it.i dont worry about anything going beyond that line. I didnt even realize the boys only responded to the editor thats mad funny.

i worry this yume gonna rock the boat. this ships gonna sink and they will be pulled down like a anchor. Because, and ive said it a million times, if outter fandom goes down they go down fucking too. Espically when literally everyone knows thier “secret”
