🎒✏️🍎 weekend activity for littles! turn your house into a school! 🍎✏️🎒
prepare your schedule the night before! what classes will you do at what time? what order will you do them in? write it down! set alarms on your phone for when each class will be, so you know when to switch!
don’t forget to prepare worksheets, activities, and make sure you know what rooms you’re using! if you have a cg, this job is best suited for them!
class ideas: math, spelling, writing, social studies/history, science, art, music, etc!
“downtime” class ideas: naptime, free time, movie time, free draw, computer lab, play time
wake up bright and early! get dressed, brush your teeth, brush your hair, and get your school supplies! go into the room that you’ve designated as your classroom!
if you have a cg, have them be your teacher for the day! if you don’t have one, that’s okay! you can do all of this by yourself pretty easily.
if the room has a closet, use that as your cubby! hang up your bag and any other belongings in it!
get ready for your school day! sit down on the floor like you would in a preschool or kindergarten classroom, and get ready to learn!
ideas on what to do for each class under the cut (to avoid this post being way too long!)
math
print out some math worksheets (or download and do them digitally, bonus points if it’s on a tablet with a stylus for extra realism!) and work on them! do whatever level of math is most accessible to you!
count stuff! count your toys, blocks, stuffies, anything! make problems and equations by taking away items, adding items, dividing items, etc and solve them!
play math games! multiplication .com has a lot of accessible math games, or you can use the flashpoint program to play math games from your favorite tv shows!
ELA
print/download handwriting practice sheets and practice writing your letters!
if you have a cg with you, have them read a book out loud to you! make sure to pay attention, and be prepared to write about what was just read to you!
read your favorite book, and create a book report based on it with pictures and decorations!
do spelling worksheets and exercises!
social studies
practice geography by identifying states or countries on an unlabeled map! start with your own country, then move on to other countries to make it more challenging!
learn about history by watching educational history cartoons!
do a cultural interview! find someone in your life whether it be a friend, a partner, or a family member and interview them about their heritage and culture! if you can’t find someone, write about your own culture!
science
use a store bought science kit and play around with it! write down everything you’ve learned.
make slime or oobleck! there’s countless recipes online that teach you how to make them! they’re both super easy to make.
draw a diagram of our solar system! label the planets properly and write one fact about each one!
art
draw your family! could be your biological or found family!
finger paint!
watercolor paint!
make pottery out of clay or play doh!
make a collage of your favorite things! print out pictures of stuff you like and glue it to a piece of paper!
music
sing along to your favorite songs! pull up sing-along versions of songs from disney movies or karaoke versions of your favorite songs!
if you have any kind of instrument, play it! try to play simple songs on it like mary had a little lamb or hot cross buns!
if you’re regressed a bit older, study sheet music! teach yourself what all the symbols mean!
nap time
take a 30 minute break to nap, or just lay down and rest! put on a soft lullaby or a quiet song you really like.
to make it more “school-like”, nap on the floor! preferably on a fluffy rug or mat, so it isn’t uncomfortable or bad for your back! lay out your favorite blanket, pillow, stuffie, and hit the hay!
play time / free time
just play!!! have fun and play with your toys, your stuffies, play dress up, etc!
if it’s nice outside, go play outside!
draw a picture!
read your favorite book!
if you’re an over-achiever, do some more worksheets!
computer lab
go on your computer or laptop if you have one, and play some educational games, watch educational videos, etc!
when you’ve done an adequate amount of learning, you earn free time! use this to play any fun game you want! (minecraft, roblox, animal jam, fun flash games, etc!)
field trips
(may require a cg if you can’t take yourself places when small!)
take a trip to a museum!
go to the library! find a cool book you find interesting and read it!
take a walk around town! write down all the interesting things you find in nature like animals, bugs, plants, etc!
end of the day
when your “school day” ends, have your cg grade how you did! if you don’t have a cg, grade yourself! but be honest, of course. if you get a good grade, you’ll get a reward!
i know this is elaborate and may seem silly, but i’ve heard a lot of littles say an elementary school environment would be really beneficial to them! i hope this helps some of you who are yearning for that!

“The Illyrians are pieces of shit,” he said too quietly. I opened my mouth and shut it. Shadows gathered around his wings, trailing off him and onto the thick red rug. “They train and train as warriors, and yet when they don’t come home, their families make us into villains for sending them to war?” “Their families have lost something irreplaceable,” I said carefully. Azriel waved a scarred hand, his cobalt Siphon glinting with the movement as his fingers cut through the air. “They’re hypocrites.”
It's not exactly a secret that Azriel harbors deep-seated issues related to his Illyrian heritage. Both his brothers are keenly aware of his feelings toward them, bordering on hatred. When HOFAS was released, revealing their rebellion against the Daglan and Enalius to align with High King Fionn, it shed light on a forgotten history. The blood rite, once a means of honoring Enalius, had devolved into a deadly competition. Against this backdrop, the Valkyries' victory in the Blood Rite stands out, with Nesta assuming the role of Enalius to protect Gwyn and Emerie's ascent to the mountain peak.
Gwyn didn’t flinch. “I have. And I am tired of it.” She surveyed the blood-soaked leather along her thigh. “I don’t want to take the safe road.” She pointed to the mountain, to the slender path upward. “I want to take that road.” Her voice thickened. “I want to take the road that no one dares travel, and I want to travel it with you two. No matter what may befall us. Not as Illyrians, not for their titles, but as something new. To prove to them, to everyone, that something new and different might triumph over their rules and restrictions.” A cold wind blew off Ramiel’s sides. Whispering, murmuring.
Gwyn's connection to Azriel extends beyond mere companionship; she represents his journey toward self-acceptance and a desire for change within the Illyrian community. It's noteworthy that Gwyn, not Nesta, is the inaugural Valkyrie and the first non-Illyrian to hold the Carynthian title.
This choice underscores Gwyn's pivotal role in Azriel's narrative and the broader arc of cultural evolution within the Illyrian society.

Air Temple Island, the Water Tribes & the Real Life Influences that bring them together
I was gonna screenshot a post I saw and add it to my post but I don’t feel like giving that individual attention (and the 300+ notes they got), so I just decided to make my own standalone post debunking this narrative that air temple island is this fully air nomad brothel (yes they said this) with ZERO water tribe motifs which katara is forced to live in until aang passed away.
frankly it just reminded me of how little people in this fandom actually bother to analyze the actual content, instead preferring to write entirely made up scenarios of katara being reduced to an air nomad incubator along with dozens other female acolytes (yes they also said this lmao. also them acting like both male AND female acolytes weren’t living on the whole other side of the island 😭)
when in truth, i’ve come to find a lot of elements of both water tribes as well as traditional inuit elements across air temple island:
1. the paifang
Tumblr media
a traditionally chinese element that for some reason is exclusively found in the northern water tribe (why do they have a gate inside a throne room, you ask? ask the white people that made this show). the one on the left is actually one of two aang BUILT, at the main entrance and another at the temple entrance. this is just one example of water tribe design on the island.
2. the bagua mosaic
Tumblr media
another structure is the bagua mosaic on the training grounds. bagua is a set of traditional chinese symbols of the cosmology, taoism. the bagua composes of 8 sets of broken or unbroken lines that represent yin and yang. where have we seen yin and yang in the original series? oh yeah, as tui and la of the water tribe! (because atla is a mess of asiatic and indigenous motifs joined together and spread out across each nation, mainly traditionally chinese elements at that.) aang building this right next to the air nomad training grounds is a symbol of the dual bending heritage their children will have.
3. gold and blue accents
Tumblr media
now, gold and blue are the main colors of the exterior structures but is also very strong inside the air temple itself. note, the massive air nomad symbol designed fully in blue in the center and the blue banners and rugs throughout the temple. this is no doubt, for me, a visual depiction of both katara and aang’s representative cultures, but of course this is not limited to color only.
4. cloud carvings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, this is a slight detour since clouds aren’t a significant part of either of their individual cultures (that we know) but i love the kataang monopoly they have on clouds as a couple so i’m talking about it. if you look at these images very closely what do you see? CLOUD CARVINGS!! specifically near the ceiling of the pavilion (left) and the arches and walls of the temple (right) just imagining aang painting and etching these very consistent swirls, like he’ll never be the selfish inconsiderate unromantic loser you people want him to be, but let’s get more into the southern water tribe style interior.
5. interior design
Tumblr media
so here is a southern water tribe white lotus outpost vs the air temple island main dining room. first thing, the seat cushions and rug! while we don’t see air nomad eating quarters we do get to see enough SWT customs both in atla and lok, to know this is how they traditionally eat compared to the north (limiting myself on pics cuz mobile).
another thing is the dining table itself. both have what i believe to be built in fire pits (i couldn’t actually tell for the air temple island one cuz of the quality but if you zoom in you can see the lines go in the table plus the hanging kettle on it makes it obvious to me idk). the southern water tribe one however is clear and likely a more traditional version of what aang and katara have.
thirdly, the exposed timber on the ceiling. i actually looked it up and found this is a common element of these two inuit structures: left is an aasiaat peat house and right is an igloolik turf house. all this for me to believe not only did aang build air temple island to be a haven for the TWO of them but also that katara herself had a lot of input on the interior than people care to notice lol.
Tumblr media
maybe instead of projecting these loser fantasies of katara being some unwilling air nomad baby making machine so you can feel better about your fantasies of katara living in a red palace with people that tried to wipe her out for a whole century, you all can go study the actual canon you were shown and the real life cultures the franchise takes from.
6. lastly, some of my own headcanons/stuff i want to see in the movie
the bathroom because I LIVE for a white marble tiled bathroom. i just know katara has to have a HUGE tub and they have one of those insane glass showers that can fit like 3 people, with cloud swirls everywhere because aang clearly got it like that
the KITCHEN, i imagine it being timber like the dining room and is probably on the other side behind the built-in shelf (get into the details like hello). in a perfect world, it would be open plan but hey
the bedroom, now we saw it in lok a bit but i wanna see it in the gaang movie too. i’m on pic limit but there’s a lot of artwork and flowers throughout the whole house which i give katara credit for because I can. like the desk, the bookshelf, that fancy looking vase thing? these two clearly have taste like don’t talk to me rn
Tumblr media
I also didn’t show the rooms and aang’s study but there’s a lot of blue decor in those places which makes me think katara decorated the whole house, even the acolytes’ hall has blue sitting cushions and columns which i think is such a nice detail.
Tumblr media
if you guys have any air temple island headcanons of your own please reply with some i’m feening lol
big shoutout to this user:
atla-annotated (their page is so great and filled with a lot of incredible information if you guys like this sort of stuff)

Something something about Socqueline being what Marinette stans claim Maribug to be.
Something something, more casual Asian rep-y in ways that can't be swept under the rug (a bit more on the history of Marinette having been white-washed here) while still being explicitly white passing to represent the biracial kids that don't look much like their poc heritage
Something something, Socqueline having been ripped to shreds with racist remarks about her "weird name" and her "being an ugly imposter" and "physically an insult to the beautiful Queen Marinette" by Fans when the Jubilation Trailer dropped (yeah, don't think I'll ever forget about that. Or how Kagami was insulted to hype up Marinette's dominantly white europeand features)
Something something, unlike Marinette, Socqueline ACTUALLY is an unpaid child employee in her parent's shop in her spare time, working her too hard, alone, and too often, because that's a very harmful thing conservative Asian parents force their children to do. Meanwhile, Marinette was asked to help out her parents like 3 times in small ways, but because of "Ladybug" Marinette is claimed to be unfairly worked to the bone by her parents.
Something something, Socqueline is most likely TRULY going to be forced to abandone her own future dreams to take over her parent's shop if she doesn't stand up for herself in difficult ways, while there is no way the show will not have Marinette's supportive parents give in after one more talk that she doesn't want to run the bakery.
Something something, Socqueline being the sporty and trained girl Marinette stans claim Maribug to be. Not to mention that looking at the very specific picture of Socqueline's life the show gives us, it's very likely that Socqueline doesn't have much of a choice at all to take on all the hobbies she has because of her parents' and cultural expectations, whereas Marinette could easily say "no" to any of the additional work/hobbies she has but that's being reframed by the Fandom as Marinette being "forced".
Something something, so Soqueline most likely dressed up as Ladybug to finally get to do something big in her spare time by her own terms and without the danger of her parents finding out (probably why she panicked when Marinette wanted to make her admit the secret [which Marinette btw did in such an unnecessary and uncomfortably forceful and uncompromising manner ...good for Socqueline for standing her ground])
Something something, making her Adrien's ACTUAL parallel.
Something something, like Marinette, Socqueline lies too much, but 'somehow' manages to do it while still remaining WAY more considered of the people involved
Something something, Socqueline ain't never gonna get acknowledged by Marinette fans/ stans for actually being what they claim Marinette to be.
Something something, I think I'm gonna be a Socqueline Stan now because she seems to be alot closer to what I once fell in love with in Marinette and I'm not gonna let that go now cause I missed feeling this love.

Alex...the end.
Conclusion
As Damien and Ahmed step out of the black room, the remnants of their transformation still tingling beneath their skin, Damien's dominant instincts surge to the forefront. With a commanding presence, he takes charge, guiding Ahmed through the space with firm but gentle hands, relishing in the newfound power and control that their transformations have bestowed upon him.
Ahmed, still adjusting to his muscular, Middle Eastern form, submits to Damien's guidance, his own desires intertwining with Damien's dominant aura. Despite the language barrier, their unspoken communication crackles with raw energy, each gesture and touch speaking volumes of their mutual desire and trust.
As they encounter the Mystic outside the room, Damien's dominance asserts itself even further. With a commanding tone, he demands answers and explanations, asserting his authority over the situation.
The Mystic, recognizing Damien's dominance, acquiesces, his own demeanor shifting to one of deference and respect.
With a smirk, Damien accepts the cigars offered by the Mystic, but instead of a simple exchange, he turns it into a ritual of submission and domination. Taking control, he lights Ahmed's cigar, his movements deliberate and confident, a silent assertion of his dominance over his partner.
Ahmed, in turn, surrenders to Damien's control, his body thrumming with arousal at the display of dominance and power. As they walk away, Damien's grip on Ahmed tightens, a silent reminder of who holds the reins in their dynamic.
And as they disappear into the shadows, their connection deepening with each step,
Damien whispers promises of pleasures yet to come, his words laced with a tantalizing mix of dominance and desire. In this moment, they both know that their journey into the depths of kink and submission has only just begun.
But before they leave, the Mystic stops them, a knowing glint in his eyes. "I have one more thing for you," he says, producing a set of traditional clothing known as a Kandora. "This is custom-made for your new body," he continues, handing it to Damien. "Be sure to wear it at all times, along with your leather spiked jockstrap." The implication is clear: even in their traditional attire, their kink and dominance will remain a central part of their identity and dynamic.
Months have passed since their transformative journey, and Damien and Ahmed have delved deeper into their newfound identities and desires. As their language skills improve, their communication blossoms, strengthening the bond between them.
Damien's once-thick mustache has grown even fuller, adding to his rugged charm and enhancing his dominant presence. Ahmed's beard has flourished, longer and thicker than ever before, framing his face with a striking allure that captivates Damien's heart.
Ahmed revels in his new physique, embracing the strength and power of his muscle bear body. His memories of his Arab lifestyle infuse him with a sense of pride and heritage, reflected in his piercing green eyes and his adorned septum ring and Prince Albert. Damien is enthralled by every aspect of Ahmed's transformation, from his muscular physique to his embrace of cultural traditions.
Their exploration of kink and domination has only deepened with time. Ahmed's nipples now adorned with rings, adding to his allure as Damien delights in playing with them, indulging in the sensation of his partner's heightened sensitivity. Damien finds immense pleasure in Ahmed's submission, relishing the opportunity to dominate him in their intimate moments.
And when Ahmed dons his traditional Kandoras, brewing Arabic coffee with practiced ease, Damien's desire for him reaches new heights. The aroma of Arabic coffee mingles with the scent of their cigars, adding to the intoxicating atmosphere of their intimate rituals.
In the privacy of their home, Damien takes Ahmed as his own, claiming him with a primal fervor that leaves them both breathless and sated. Their love knows no bounds, transcending language and culture as they navigate the depths of desire and pleasure together, united in their unyielding bond of love and devotion. And as they bask in the afterglow of their passion, the smoke from their cigars swirls around them, a tangible reminder of the intensity of their connection and the pleasures that await them in the days to come

In the rugged plains of South Dakota, where the wind carried tales of old and the earth held the memories of ancestors, there lived a girl named Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha. Her name meant Red Rose, a testament to her Lakota heritage passed down from her mother, who herself was a daughter of the plains.
Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha's story began at a crossroads of cultures. Her father, a white man of European descent, had come to the territory seeking adventure and fortune. It was during his travels that he met her mother, a woman of grace and resilience, who captured his heart with her wisdom and deep connection to the land ...
From a young age, Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha embraced both sides of her lineage. Her father taught her the ways of the settlers: reading from books, navigating the world of letters and numbers, and sharing stories of distant lands beyond the horizon. Her mother, on the other hand, instilled in her the traditions of the Lakota people: the art of storytelling, the reverence for nature, and the songs that echoed through the ages ...
As Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha grew, so did her curiosity about her dual heritage. She loved to roam the plains, feeling the pulse of the earth beneath her moccasins, and listening to the whispers of the wind that carried the spirits of her ancestors. Her mother taught her the language of the Lakota, and together they would gather herbs and berries, weaving them into baskets adorned with intricate patterns that told stories of abundance and gratitude.
One fateful day, a scout from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show stumbled upon their camp. Intrigued by Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha's striking features and her natural grace, he invited her to join the spectacle that toured the country, showcasing the life and culture of the frontier. Despite initial hesitation, her mother saw an opportunity for her daughter to bridge the gap between worlds, to share the beauty and resilience of their people with those who knew little of their ways.
Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha's debut was met with awe and admiration. Dressed in traditional regalia adorned with beads and feathers, she danced with the spirit of her ancestors, her movements telling stories of hunting buffalo on the plains, of celebrating victories and mourning losses. Her voice carried melodies that spoke of love and longing, of hope and resilience.
As she traveled with the Wild West Show, Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha became a symbol of cultural pride and unity. Audiences marveled at her performances, not just for their entertainment value but for the deeper understanding they imparted about the Lakota way of life. Through her, they saw the strength and dignity of a people who had endured adversity and continued to thrive.
Yet, amid the applause and admiration, Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha remained grounded in her roots. She wrote letters to her mother in their native tongue, sharing stories of the places they visited and the people they met. She spoke of the challenges of being caught between two worlds, of the longing to belong fully to both yet realizing the beauty in her unique identity.
Years passed, and Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha's fame spread far and wide. She became an ambassador of peace and understanding, using her platform to advocate for the rights of Native peoples and to bridge the gap between cultures. Her performances continued to inspire generations, reminding them of the importance of respecting and preserving diverse traditions.
Wa-Ka-Cha-Sha, Red Rose of the plains, lived a life that bloomed with courage and compassion. Her legacy, like the petals of a red rose unfurling in the morning sun, continues to touch hearts and minds, reminding us of the power of embracing our differences and celebrating our shared humanity.

Lae'zel's tent
Nomadic design and more practical than others, dark colors and very pragmatic overall. Proudly displays Githyanki heritage with tent, sigils, and rugs.
Grinding stone very nearby, several trophies to be proud of (ogre head, gnoll head, mindflayer head - giant bone?).
A set of deer bones(?) and a deer hide stretched and drying, a bloody bowl, a bucket, a pile of stained blankets.
The head trophy near a handmade dummy made to look like a mindflayer embedded in a stump - the stump looks like it was already there, so maybe she set up camp near it on purpose.
Several animal hides in her sitting nook with a bowl, pair of bones, and vegetable(?). Her tent is spartan, a simple pillow, some broadly-woven linens(?), a couple hides.
The filigree patterns are interestingly delicate compared to the overall state of her tent, it reminds me of her armor (surprisingly pretty for a pragmatic culture focused on economical choices)

Going off on a tangent (I’m lowkey obsessed with your blog so now I’m going to yell my thoughts at you)
I get so disappointed at the lack of any lore drops between Naruto’s heritages like obviously the uzamaki’s were exploited and basically had a like genocide (Karin’s backstory had me so fucked) and maybe it’s to show how normal it is in shinobi society to just brush anything under the rug when it comes to genocides and systemic issues which duh but I wish I could’ve seen more nuanced stuff like diaspora between the few survivors of lost clans, how they survived or heck how they try to preserve their culture.
Idk maybe I’m not making any sense but as someone who has like no ties to my origins (AA, especially growing up to ppl denying AA culture and how AA culture gets sold) I wished I saw that kind of relatability in Naruto since he himself is basically separated from his culture and didn’t even know who his parents were I feel like that could lead to some like deeper stuff. I feel like Naruto would try to preserve his cultures and clans (he does in way ig in boruto but I barely seen that anime and that’s a whole other discussion with how clans are treated)
And in a way I guess it’s the most realistic part of Naruto like yea the ppl in charge might give a nod in acknowledgement of how they were bystanders and that the system failed ppl (if they even go as far as to accept that) it’s just to make the ppl they exploit/ed shut up and be happy that they were even seen in the first place (working class, blm, Palestine, Native Americans etc)
But god do I wish Naruto dived into the isolation of the lack of culture or even the lack of your own ppl can have.
first of all thank you for your support and engagement, it gives joy. feel free to yell at me whenever, i have a naruto so im used to it.
this is also something that used to upset me and now just frustrates me. i technically wasnt the last uchiha until after the war, but itachi and i couldnt communicate, madara cut ties with the clan, and just like me obito left the village as a child. one of the worst things about the genocide was this crushing anxiety of "what will become of our history?" i was old enough to have pride in the concept of "uchiha" but too young to have a meaningful understanding of it. and i guess deep down thats what contributed to my steady depersonalization and increasing franticness-- i knew there was really nothing i could do to preserve my clan so at least i needed to preserve their honour (and this was also why i understand itachi's reasons for not sharing the truth).
all this to say, my heart breaks for naruto because he doesnt even know what he doesnt know. and like you said, thats mostly a function of how konoha chose to operate. i still dont understand why they couldnt at least tell naruto about his mom. i dont understand why jiraiya didnt come back to teach him sealing. but i do know why and its because the shinobi system works best if you dont see yourself as an individual first. everything you are and have needs to belong to the state, and if it doesnt, then they will eliminate it. konoha took advantage of the genocide in uzushio to essentially traffic their women and then say there was "friendship" between the two villages...then do nothing to preserve the uzumaki or uzushio history. disgusting.
youre making sense. ive actually thought that naruto's case is similar to children from asia who were trafficked and brought to western countries post-war, completely removed from their culture and often neglected and abused for a culture they couldnt even own. i think the uchiha are a bit similar to african americans given the systematic lack of consideration for contributions to the development of society, the war between respectability/assimilation and self-determination/anti-discrimination, and like you said the commodification and demonization of culture. and i do agree with you about naruto, but i think it also helps him sometimes. for better or for worse hes...simple. he doesnt think too much about things he doesnt know, and that helps him get through his days with less of a load. he does have his bad days, where hes...lost, but if he were any other way he wouldnt be naruto. luckily the boruto versions of us arent real, but even then i think they make sense given what they were trying to accomplish with that show (ie. dumb down everything for the Manly Men who didnt get what was happening the first time).
when i was traveling after the war i did try to do some preliminary investigation into existing uzumaki refugees and diaspora, but it was a bit difficult though due to their history. ive been thinking about putting together an extended campaign and mission for us to reunify the uzumaki, for his birthday. i just need to figure out how best to go about it. keep it a secret between us.

Love when people have to keep trying to explain a situation or how they are right or something or giving excuses you going to bat awfully hard especially when all I’ve ever said was in general never said individual names but clearly you feel like that shoe fits and the fact you find the need to repeatedly do so with racial based situations lets me know you are indeed a part of the problem and issue especially because you feel the need to steady send me the things trying to explain how it’s not wrong or it’s a different circumstance if it walks like a duck talks like a duck it’s a duck and in this case it’s racist there’s no fucking excuse for it and it’s not only sad but pathetic and shows exactly who you are as an individual because you don’t see the issue your another person trying to brush it off and sweep it u see the rug UH UH not happening you and others are part of the problem. And the played out excuse you can get it at so and so or this person did it too it doesn’t make it right or appropriate so don’t come at me with some racial bullshit I am not the one appropriation is still appropriation and it isn’t right and I’m not sitting quietly by to make you or anyone feel better I don’t give a damn if it’s every every store like a fucking McDonald’s if it ain’t your culture stop there is a difference between appreciating the beauty in someone’s culture and racially appropriating it. If you don’t see the wrong take a step back look in the mirror and reevaluate yourself and grow. STOP APPROPRIATING SOMEONES CULTURE AND HERITAGE AND SAYING ITS OK ITS NOT!

Thinking about Mongolia's thoughts about the communist era hmm.
I think that he saw it as like. It needed to happen whether he liked it or not in order to ensure his independence. I don't think he jumps up and down in joy when remembering it but he saw it as a necessity to his survival. It's a pretty complicated subject as there were atrocities such as the purges that took place, a lot of which specifically targeted ethnic minority groups in Mongolia and certain cultural heritages that were trodden on (the use of the Mongolian script, monasteries destroyed) however he's never going to deny that that period is what stopped him from losing independence completely and well. Being in Tibet's position (which is something he's incredibly sore about) even if there are very regrettable things that took place during that period.
I do think Mongolia is quite prideful so he certainly wasn't happy on relying so heavily on Soviet help but I also don't think he's so prideful that he's stupid and turns down much needed help just to be prideful/stubborn. Russia tried to frame their relationship as being sort of like an older brother helping out a younger brother ("akh duu") and Mongolia found this pretty... Patronising/annoying (especially considering the fact that he's older than Russia though not by a huge amount). He can definitely be stubborn but he's also very pragmatic and if he needed to enter into a coercive relationship (politically) with Russia to make sure China didn't swallow him then so be it - he could complain about it later. And even "later" I think his heart is quite hardened to what happened.
Not in the sense that he doesn't care about what happened or regrets nothing but moreso he's like "what's done is done". I've said this before but I don't think he's one to dwell on things that upset him (most of the time), and while this sounds great this isn't always to his benefit and he can end up seeming disingenuous or even callous when asked about things when in reality, it is something that upset/upsets him but he's not one to liberally indulge in his feelings to anyone who asks - especially if it's to do with a complicated situation.
I've read that a lot of older Mongolians are more sympathetic to communism than younger ones and while I don't think Mongolia would brand himself as a #proudcommunist yeah I do think he's somewhat sympathetic-to-communism-leaning (he's boomer-leaning to me) mainly because Mongolia did benefit in some significant ways from that era - literacy rates skyrocketed - in fact Mongolia was the first universally literate country in Asia, child mortality rates decreased greatly, promotion of higher education, better healthcare, a Mongolian was even put into space (I'm not at all trying to detract from the bad that happened or excuse it). I think it also stems from the fact that he's just more... Used to it? Mongolia was the second country in the world to adopt communism and the first in Asia, bypassing capitalism completely and going from a feudal monarchy straight to a communist society. Mongolia only stopped being communist in the 90s.
Again - the era of communism is one that Mongolia has complex feelings about because yes the improvements in the aforementioned sectors were staggering. Whilst the famous Mongolian quote goes "I'd rather suffer under my own rule rather than live happily under someone elses" and yes Mongolia can be a stubborn bastard, he will acknowledge that Soviet aid ensured his independence however coercive his relationship with Russia was at the time and well, I think improved living conditions for their people would make any nation pleased at the very least. However the bad that took place is not something he can ignore so easily at the same time. Which is why I say his feelings about it are so complex.
Side note but I read that Russians who visited Mongolia particularly liked their fur coats and rugs which could be purchased for a cheaper price than at back home and I can only imagine Russia pestering Mongolia for discounts on products (which I think he still does today tbh Mongolian cashmere goes hard). There were actually already Russians living in Mongolia before Soviet intervention however these Russians were descendants of white Russians, colonists from the Tsarist era etc, so there was a level of animosity between "local" Russians already in Mongolia and Soviet specialists being sent to Mongolia during the era of Soviet interventionism. Mongolia personally really did not care about how much either group didn't like each other as long as they weren't shit stirring with the Mongolian population. The Soviet specialists sent to Mongolia were actually interviewed by the KGB on how to behave - they had to be on their best behaviour in Mongolia so as to not ruin the reputation of the Soviets.
This did not matter though because in the 70's to 80's the glaring disparities between the Soviets and local Mongolians became too obvious to ignore. Soviet workers who travelled to Mongolia for work did so so that they could get enough money for cars and apartments back home. Soviet specialists in Mongolia were being paid as much as a deputy government minister back home! There were elite stores in Mongolia that had very high quality produce that only Soviet specialists and family members of Mongolian officials were allowed in - guards were even posted to prevent ordinary Mongolians from entering. So much for that older brother younger brother relationship. Despite Soviet help, as mentioned before Mongolia found it to be patronising, and when Russia would go on a speech about how he helped lift Mongolia from his "backwards and dark" past yes there was a bit of an eyeroll and a hurt ego. Mongolia's tolerance of Russia was seriously waning.
The democratic revolution in the 90's saw Mongolia shed its Russian influence and Mongolians began to be more openly critical of this "older brother younger brother" relationship with Russia - Soviet specialists in Mongolia felt threatened by this and even moved out. Nationalism was on the rise and people were once again singing Genghis Khan's praises. You know that video that got really popular of that Mongolian guy throat singing "Chinggis Khaan Magtaal" on a mountain? That was written in the 90's! I'd say Mongolia was pleased at the very least about this rise in nationalism and an invigorated interest in history and Chinggis Khaan in his people but lets remember this was yet another transition he had to deal with after getting used to communism. Despite a rise in nationalist spirit, there was a lot of unemployment and people turned to bad coping mechanisms during the 90's/early 2000s, I heard that some folks were even afraid of going outside - shops were empty and everything and during this transition period there was something of a shared hope in people yet no one really knew what was to come. Any major transitionary period for a nation is never going to be easy and this was no exception. I think Mongolia was kind of like, trying to bite the bullet and get through with it even if he himself felt uncertain because all you can do really is move forward. I think Russia was er. Unhappy about this but did not outright say it to Mongolia's face... He'd more so "tease" him and tell him his Russian was getting bad for example and if he needed some practice or something (note: Mongolia's Russian was still perfectly fine lol).
He's in a much better state now but there was no denying that the shift from communism after being in it for so long and getting used to a new system after shifting from a feudal monarchy to straight to communism in the first place was hard. When he remembers the communist era its not a distant memory for him - remember, Mongolia was a communist country without ever going through a capitalist period beforehand and this new era isn't even half a century old. He knows that that era was integral to keeping his independence and there were some much needed changes that were taken care of during that time (healthcare, education etc) however he will not forget the regrettable things that took place. This is also why I think Mongolia's relationship with Russia is so complex but I think I'll leave that for another post lol.

1. Situating the Story with the Score: Frozen masterfully intertwines its score with its narrative, enhancing the emotional depth of the story. The orchestral arrangements, composed by Christophe Beck, effectively convey the sweeping landscapes of Arendelle and the inner turmoil of its characters. According to film critic Stephanie Zacharek, writing for Time, the score "immerses us in a chilly, forbidding world," echoing the isolation experienced by Elsa and Anna. Furthermore, the integration of Broadway-style musical numbers, such as "Let It Go" and "For the First Time in Forever," propels the plot forward while providing insight into the characters' motivations.

2. Cultural Authenticity Through Character Performance: Frozen uses character performance to infuse cultural authenticity into its narrative. The character of Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, embodies the rugged spirit of Scandinavian folklore, as noted by cultural critic Aisha Harris in Slate. Kristoff's folk-inspired songs, including "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People," pay homage to his Nordic heritage and enrich the film's cultural tapestry. Additionally, the trolls' musical number, "Fixer Upper," incorporates elements of Nordic mythology, adding depth to the film's world-building.
3. Musical "Framing" and Familiarized Styles: Musical "framing" in Frozen structures the score within familiarized styles, enhancing the viewer's engagement with the film. The use of recurring motifs, such as Elsa's signature theme, provides continuity throughout the story, as highlighted by film scholar Emma Pett in her analysis for The Journal of Popular Culture. These motifs serve as musical anchors, guiding the audience through Elsa's emotional journey and reinforcing key themes of self-acceptance and empowerment.
As we continue our discussion, let's explore how Frozen navigates themes of identity, sisterhood, and empowerment through its music. Feel free to share your thoughts and insights!
