Considering the fact that I’m looking at making a comic it’s only fair that I look at multiple different comic Publishers, A comic Publisher is a pretty simple concept all in all, it’s a company that publishes and mass produces a product that someone else may have pitched or came up with, this was helpful as the average person likely doesn’t have the cash to widely publish there work, whether book comic or whatever, however if you can pitch it to a company and they like, well hey you can sell your product than can’t you.

to talk about more specific cases, the Most famous comic book publishers DC and Marvel, Our mainly known for there output of superhero comics all made by themselves as given DC and Marvel are such big pop culture things with so many characters that they can continuously make money off that they really don’t have much of a need to produce or buy the rights to much other stuff to be honest.

other publishers will go for a more mixed approach such as Archie Comics who started off with said series but also bought the rights to produce different IP’s such as the mega man Comics.

Meanwhile other publishers Like IDW will more heavily lean into buying the rights to produce work for different already Existing Properties Such as TMNT and yep I Did find another way to bring this series up, sonic the hedgehog

(Extra fun fact though before Idw got there hands on the licence Sonic comics were initially published by Archie comics and that run was and still is the longest running comic run based on a video game series, The Archie run of Sonic The hedgehog is insanity incarnate with an entire tapestry worth of behind the scenes madness to boot, maybe I’ll make a post about it one day who knows, I probably will to be honest let’s not kid ourselves.) 

an interesting case that I’ve covered in the past is Bongo Comics who was literally founded by Matt Groening himself Creator of both Simpsons and futurama, so yeah I doubt it’s surprise to say it likely wasn’t all that trouble getting the licence to produce, The company did also make some original works like Mylo Xyloto and Hopster’s tracks 

So what I learned from this is that comic book publishers like to do things a lot of different ways, from doing purely original stuff to doing nearly exclusively licenced stuff to a mix of both, so you know this was a solid little thing to further get into with the comic industry, I plant to use this information to possibly Attempt to make my own fake comic company, fit with a logo and a name.
