1. Seo-Won often leaves little notes for you when you’re feeling down, scribbling sweet, encouraging messages that remind you how strong you are, even when you’re not feeling your best.

2. He always knows when you’re starting to feel overwhelmed, and will gently reach out to hold your hand or place his hand on your shoulder, silently offering comfort without needing to say anything.

3. When you have a tough day and need someone to lean on, Seo-Won will sit beside you in silence, offering quiet companionship. Sometimes the best thing is just being together, without words.

4. He loves drawing little doodles or writing random thoughts in a notebook, often sharing them with you. He’s shy about his art but wants you to see it as a way of expressing himself.

5. Seo-Won has a habit of softly humming his favorite songs when he feels anxious or upset. It’s his little way of calming down, and sometimes he’ll hum just a little louder when you’re in the room, hoping it’ll help you too.

6. On quiet days, he’ll try to distract you from the hospital routine by telling you funny stories or quoting movies you both enjoy. His lightheartedness can sometimes lift your spirits in ways he doesn’t realize.

7. If you’re ever feeling particularly down, he’ll offer to read to you from a book, even if it's just a chapter or two. It’s his way of trying to share something positive with you and help you escape for a little while.

11. He’ll try his best to make sure you’re comfortable, adjusting your pillow or bringing you extra blankets when you need them. His attentiveness is his way of showing he cares, even in small, quiet gestures.

12. Seo-Won loves telling you about the dreams he has, even though they don’t always make sense. He finds comfort in sharing his strange visions with you, and he secretly enjoys hearing your thoughts on them.

16. When you’re both in the hospital and it’s time to rest, Seo-Won will quietly ask if you’re comfortable before settling down, making sure you’re all tucked in before he gets comfortable himself.

17. Seo-Won gets a little shy when you compliment him, especially when you praise his creativity or his thoughtful gestures. He’ll blush and try to brush it off, but deep down, he really appreciates it.

18. Sometimes, he’ll get up in the middle of the night to grab water or check on something, but he’ll always check on you too, making sure you’re okay, especially if he knows you’re having a hard time sleeping.

19. Seo-Won enjoys giving you little gifts, like flowers he picks from the garden or a small trinket he finds in the hospital gift shop, just to remind you that he’s thinking of you.

20. When things feel overwhelming, Seo-Won will try to comfort you by offering small distractions—maybe a puzzle to work on together, a simple card game, or something else that helps take your mind off everything.

So, things on the archive have been a bit dicey the past month as the Mods have been investigating the ongoing DDoS attack and various options available to us to mitigate both the current attack and future attacks. I’ll lead with the big thing.

Planned Archive Downtime

The archive will be down for a bit as we configure the new security settings on the back end. The downtime could be as little as a few minutes or up to 72 hours and we anticipate some people will get access sooner than others. We don’t like it, but it’s for the best, and will hopefully allow us to resume full accessibility to all members.

When Is the Site Going Offline?

Approximately 9PM EDT, May 13 (Tuesday evening). While you have a couple of days, you should start preparing immediately.

Prepare? What Do You Mean By That?

Mostly, just be forewarned that the downtime is coming. Don’t panic if you can’t access the site or receive an error message.

You might want to take the time to download any ePubs for fics you are reading or plan to read soon. Likewise, while we don’t anticipate this will impact the site’s content, it’s never a bad idea to back up important things, such as story comments.

What’s the Security Solution You’re Implementing?

A very common, highly trusted, and broadly used security solution called Cloudflare. It’s the same that AO3 implemented following their DDoS attack. We have completed troubleshooting this solution on our test site.

How Did You Troubleshoot?

Once we got Cloudflare up and running, the Mods went to the test site and tried to break it. We wanted to replicate the errors we initially experienced, like the Forbidden/Forbidden 403 error message. A solution that works for only some people isn’t a viable long-term solution.

This is an imperfect process, but we were able to post stories, comments, news items, images, emojis, and all other normal archive activity without incident, while maintaining the strictest security settings available on the back-end.

What Happens if I Still Experience an Error Once Everything Is Back Up?

All members should continue reporting any unusual errors, messages, and so forth as they occur to elysianfieldsarchive@gmail.com. 

How Do I Stay Updated While The Site Is Down?

Important updates will be made on all of EF’s active social platforms: Instagram, Bluesky, Threads, and Facebook. You may also join our Discord server. Please note that only EF members are allowed in the Discord server, and your server name must match your EF username.

The birth of Hyun-Wo was a turning point in Kim Seo-Wan’s life. As much as he’d loved the idea of being a father, nothing could have fully prepared him for the reality of it.

The first time he held his son in his arms, Seo-Won’s heart had burst with a mixture of joy, fear, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility. The hospital room had been quiet, except for Hyun-Wo's soft whimpers and the sound of Seo-Wan’s shaky breaths.

His hands were trembling slightly as he cradled the tiny bundle, his son so small and fragile. “I’m… I’m going to protect you,” he murmured softly, blinking back tears. It felt surreal, but at the same time, so incredibly right.

The first few months were a blur of sleepless nights, bottles of formula, and endless diaper changes. Seo-Wan had always been someone who could get lost in his thoughts, but now, his focus was entirely on Hyun-Wo.

Every cry or whimper sent him rushing to his son’s side. He was cautious, always questioning if he was doing the right thing. He’d research how to care for a newborn at 3 AM, his phone’s glow the only light in the otherwise dark room.

“You’re okay, little one,” he whispered more than once as he held his son close, rocking him gently when the world seemed too loud and overwhelming for both of them.

There were times when Seo-Wan felt the weight of his mental health bearing down on him. The anxiety that had been a constant part of his life felt even more magnified when it came to his son. What if he wasn’t enough? What if his past struggles affected how he parented? He often turned to his partner, their shared moments of reassurance grounding him when his worries threatened to consume him.

But through it all, there was Hyun-Wo’s tiny hand curling around his finger, his soft giggles when Seo-Wan would sing him lullabies, and the moments when, just for a brief instant, everything felt like it was exactly as it should be.

As Hyun-Wo grew, so did Seo-Wan. The little milestones were enough to fill his heart with pride—Hyun-Wo’s first smile, his first word, the first time he tried to crawl across the floor. Seo-Wan found himself laughing at the small, silly things—like how his son would try to eat his socks or reach for anything within his tiny hands' grasp. They were simple moments, but to Seo-Wan, they were everything. His love for his son was boundless, and he didn’t know how he ever lived without him.

“Don’t grow up too fast,” he would tell Hyun-Wo, his voice soft and tender. “I want to keep you little forever.”

But it was clear that time wouldn’t stop. Hyun-Wo grew more curious every day, trying to explore the world around him with wide eyes and outstretched hands. Seo-Wan would be right there with him, always watching, always ready to catch him if he stumbled.

As the months passed, Seo-Wan found that parenthood brought out a new sense of strength in him. It wasn’t always easy, and there were tough days when his own battles felt overwhelming, but there was something about Hyun-Wo’s innocent joy that made everything worth it.

His son’s first steps were monumental. Seo-Won had been on the couch, his gaze following his son as he shakily took those first, wobbly steps toward him.

“You’re doing it!” Seo-Wan exclaimed, his heart bursting with pride as Hyun-Wo stumbled and then stood up again, determined. Hyun-Wo’s bright eyes locked onto his father’s. “Ap…pa!” he said, the words slow but deliberate. Seo-Wan’s chest tightened, and before he could stop himself, tears welled up in his eyes.

“I love you, Hyun-Wo,” he whispered hoarsely. “I love you so much.”

As the years passed, Seo-Wan became the father he’d always hoped he would be. The little boy who once relied on him for everything was now growing into someone with his own interests, questions, and curiosity about the world.

But Seo-Won would always be there to guide him, to be his protector and safe place, just as he had promised that day in the hospital.

Being a father had made him feel whole, a part of something much bigger than himself. And every day, as he watched his son grow, he couldn’t help but feel incredibly grateful for the little moments of happiness they shared together. From the quiet mornings spent reading together to the loud, chaotic evenings full of laughter, Seo-Won cherished every second.

Through his son, Seo-Won had discovered a love so pure and unconditional that it healed him in ways he didn’t even realize needed healing.

No matter what the future held, he knew he would always do his best to be the father Hyun-Wo deserved.

And as his son grew older, Seo-Won realized he was growing, too. With every laugh, every tear, and every new experience, they were both learning, together.
