WIP Wednesday: Pride Edition

This week's WIP Wednesday is a Pride Edition! Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community is a huge part of my life and a label that I am honored to have. It's inspired my knits as well. I wanted to share some pride projects that I've finished in previous years! Next week, I'll share what pride projects I'm currently working on.

The first is a rainbow-striped etrelac scarf that I knit for myself almost ten years ago. It's my go-to on cold winter days! It's knit with Lion Brand's Wool-Ease DK Yarn. Unfortunately, the colors used in this scarf have mostly been discontinued but the yarn still exists. I do recommend this yarn, it's easy to work with and not that expensive. The pattern is a typical entrelac doubled and then sewn together so that it's the same on both sides.

The second is a rainbow sweater that I made for my twin sister last year. Since I've been going through my stash, I realized that I had quite a bit of rainbow yarn from that previous scarf left over. The initial plan was to make an entirely rainbow-striped sweater, and I was disappointed when I realized the colors were discontinued. But this more subtle beauty was born! The basis for the pattern was the Real Easy Raglan by Emily Bolduan.

Earlier this year, I made myself another rainbow sweater, but this time in a simple brioche pattern. I'd found Red Heart's Stripes on sale as Joann's was going out of business, and knew I had to do something with it. This is the Dancing Aurora by Drops Design, and this is one of my favorite sweaters of all time. I love the way it looks and the way that it fits.

And those are my most recent pride projects! I'm always happy to show who I am through my clothing, and all of these pieces make me unbelievably happy. What are you working on this week?

Dazai canonically rambling about his loved ones at every possible opportunity is so dear to me.

Mori knew a lot of the things he did about Oda because Dazai told him. Akutagawa also knew about Oda and how important he is to Dazai because of Dazai's ramblings. Random, unnamed PM members know about Oda being very dear to Dazai, because Dazai praises him and talks about how great he is.

Chuuya knew straight away that Dazai had been speaking about him to the ADA. It wasn't something he expressed feeling betrayed or suprised about. It was just an immediate understanding that of all the ways they could probably have known about him and his ability despite it being confidential information in the PM, Dazai's ramblings were most likely the reason.

The way that Dazai speaks about Ranpo to quite literally anyone who will listen. To Fydor, to random cops, to Atsushi.

Dazai canonically brags about the people he cares about in an 'omg omg omg my person my people I love them look how amazing they are' way.

akutami randomly dropping more lore on gojo/geto/shoko makes me think that jjk was SUPPOSED to be much longer or at least he first planned to make the story have more arcs, but something along the way happened (likely fuckass shonen jump editors) that made him shorten the story drastically.

the three clans. kenjaku going to china and the whole thing about the usa army. even maki that was so insanely built up and didn't have that much of a satisfying conclusion (megumi too). like... you CAN'T tell me he planted all of this unintentionally. all of these themes could have built entire arcs. and you can't tell me that from the moment gojo got out of prison realm, the story didn't get absurdly rushed, because it did.

i don't know what happens with these huge shonen jump titles that get rushed all of sudden. i remember feeling the same thing about demon slayer, as the final arc came so abruptly while it didn't feel that the story was close to ending yet. it feels that at the same time that shonen jump wants another long lasting mega hit like naruto/one piece, they can't make a story last this much without draining the author's spirit. in the end, i feel sad because jjk had the potential to be a long lasting title with much more world building and lore to be explored.

they're just.. increasingly getting more and more coupley and being so sooo casual about it. they truly don't care anymore and they continue to exceed my expectations. the comfort levels escalate everyday it seems and the whole "plausible deniability" is long gone, in my opinion.

Another bonus to learning a fiber art is being able to speak to others in a Lovecraftian language that nobody else understands...

...and also being able to read things like THIS:

Melina is (almost totally) DONE, WHEW, so I wanted to get some preview-y detail photos in celebration.

i’ve been knitting a sweater :3

#i’m using drops nepal (wool/alpaca) and it’s so wonderful once i’m done with this sweater i’m going to make another in a different color #i’ve been working on this for about 10 days i think? i’ve been cranking this sweater out #extremely impressed with the progress i’ve made considering i have a chronic injury and also spent 6 days last week playing an opera daily #me when i’m more productive when i pace myself and don’t overwork myself 🤯#i’ve watched at least a whole season of bake off while making this sweater #but i also fly home for spring break soon and i don’t wanna bring knitting needles on my carry on in case tsa confiscates them so #i might have to just leave it and pick it back up later because i don’t wanna put anything too valuable in my checked luggage :(#my art #knitting #fiber art #omg forgot to mention the pattern it’s the step by step sweater by handmade by florence on youtube it’s free and a very easy pattern

It's done!!

I really love the colour and the pattern was easy to figure out but im so glad it's finally done lol

It was definitely a lengthy process, especially the body, but i actually enjoyed it (mostly, i really hate purling after that tho)

I enjoyed the fact that the body was done in one piece and not in panels but that also meant all these stitches and purling was hard after some time

I think i need to rest my hands now for some time because they hurt lamo

Anyway i really love the sweater and I can't wait to wear it
