This is unusually tidy for me, typically I have way more floats (or however to call it in embroidery, I think that might be more of a knitting term). And I am a big fan of knots, I don't care what the orthodox stance on it is.

Today we're featuring "Glücksbringer" by evakuality with art from @dummerjan! We have amazing remake representation this year and this adds Druck to the list. Add in video gaming and we're all in!

Evakuality: What inspired this story?

I had this idea for last year's bang but it didn't gel and I eventually did something else. This year I signed up as an artist and was going to leave it at that, but then in January something unlocked, I got obsessed with David's red lucky charm (his Glücksbringer) and this fic reappeared and then almost wrote itself. Clearly this was just its time!

Dummerjan: What inspires you about this story?

I adore how soft Matteo and David are in the story, how much joy they find in each other and what they are doing. I also really like the fic's title and knew from the start I'd want to incorporate it into my art. I love the call back to the series to David's lucky charm and how the author included it in the fic. The 2023 Skam Big Bang starts posting June 21st!

4 years of Druck s3 - week 7

Things of note in this episode:

1.  This is probably my favourite episode and so this is likely to be lengthy!

2.  I really love how this conversation with Hans differs from the og.  In a lot of ways I prefer this one, unlike the one in episode 5.  In this, first, Matteo says ‘if it makes you happy’ he’ll call him his guru and I love that change in the dynamic.  Plus, I really do love that Hans is attuned enough to religion that he takes Matteo into church to have this conversation (and so Matteo’s mother does in a way see him in church that day).  I think it’s very important that a lot of Matteo’s issues about all this stem from religion and so taking him into a place of religion to demystify it is so important.  Also, Hans’s advice about David isn’t that he’s probably playing Matteo (as Eskild suggests to Isak), but that he’s probably not out and needs time and respect for that or to be left alone.  It resonates in a different way, and the fact that this religious breakthrough happens at Easter is a really lovely touch.  Plus we get the whole bit about Matteo’s mother, and he’s able to come to terms with her and her issues in a way that leaves him much calmer and more at peace.  Compare the above picture to this one from the start of the episode:

This earlier Matteo was so sad and he was at seas and all confused.  But at least he knew that going to Hans would help - and was able to do it even when Hans had been so upset with him before.  And kudos to Hans for seeing past all that and recognising that Matteo genuinely does need a gay guru and being that person for him.  This conversation has done exactly what Matteo needed it to and he’s so much happier and more at ease both with the David thing and with his mother.  

3.  Speaking of religion, this whole bit with Amira is a) so lovely and b) so important.  After their previous discussion, this has needed to be addressed and she does it in such a gracious way - which he returns.  I do think that without the chat with Hans he may have been less keen to hear what Islam thinks about homosexuality but together these two conversations have really helped him unpack some of his prejudices about religion, and he is far more willing and able to open up to hi9s mother with the hope that she won’t reject him.  I absolutely love that ‘for Easter’ Amira’s family has made some food to share, thus showing Matteo that religion can be open and accepting of other faiths, cultures and lifestyles.  Amira doesn’t just tell him she and her religion accept him, she shows him and it’s very powerful.  Even if her bringing outside food into a cafe worries me, since you’re absolutely not allowed to do it here.

4.  I really love the colours in this episode - they’re so much warmer and more cheerful than the previous ones.  Partly that’s because this was Easter and the colours work really well for that time of year.  But also because Matteo is starting to warm up and open up into his new self.  I am, once again, so impressed by the way light and colour is used in this show.  It’s just soooo goooooood.

I also love how much Carlos has grown - Kiki has such strong views and she wants everyone to agree with them.  In a lot of her life, people just don’t (I imagine Zoe must be such a stress for her, for example), but Carlos, who has been shown as a bit of a lad and quite ignorant and occasionally offensive, has taken it all on board and you can see it in the way he acts and the things he says now.  He enjoys his new knowledge and certainly has a lot of sensitivity to people and their relationships.  He’s the one who knew things were off with Matteo and Sara, and he’s the one who moves to listen actively to Matteo here and who says things he hopes are supportive and encouraging.

5.  Sara.  This poor kid.  We see here the culmination of everything that’s been going wrong in her life and it must have been so hard seeing Matteo in the midst of all this.  But I like to think that she feels lighter and happier after this is done.  We do know what she reaches out to Leonie after Matteo suggests that talking to people helps.  If we compare this picture of her to the way she was shown in s1 and even 2, she’s so diminished, shot from above and looks so weak and vulnerable.  Even compared to the social media post she made wearing this exact outfit, she looks different.  But it’s maybe like a wound being lanced - like Matteo she was trying to put up a facade, live a fake life in that earlier post.  But now she’s able to be real and yeah that hurts but it’s better and they will both be able to move on and be happier more authentic people in the aftermath.

6.  Speaking of hurting - Matteo makes so much great progress this episode and he’s able to become a happier and more settled person.  But at the core is this boy who misses the boy he thought he was creating something nice with.  He told Hans he ‘can’t believe’ that David doesn’t want him and I think that makes this even harder.  The pictures and videos David sends are sending him mixed messages.  On one hand, he’s keeping up the contact and trying to maintain something with Matteo - on the other, this stuff is all ‘it’s not you it’s me’ ‘in a different life we’d be in Detroit’ etc etc.  There’s no hint that things can be ‘real’ between them in this life and so Matteo keeps having these small moments of sadness throughout the episode.

7.  And so that’s why this whole part is tinged with a melancholy.  Unlike in other versions, there’s no passion here, no ‘throwing caution to the wind’ or anything.  Instead it’s so gentle and cautious, so fragile.  There’s a sigh of relief that David is here, but neither of them is at ease.  Of course, we start to understand David’s thing the next day.  But even here it’s so clear why Matteo feels the way he does - everything since David told him he’s not into him has been such a rollercoaster that it’s not possible for him to throw caution to the wind.  He’s felt so much sadness and heartbreak about David even this week that he can’t allow himself to fully dive into this moment.  And of course we’re left with this shot of David’s face and we get to see that he’s not happy either.  It’s a long long few hours til the next morning and David’s secret!

Colt was born as the eldest of three boys to his father Bob Buckley and his mother, Annie Sue, into rural, agricultural Alabama.

Colt's homelife was quite troubled from the start - his father was an alcoholic, his mother would often enough disappear for months at a time, much to the anger of their father. When she was with them, she seemed to switch between being loving and completely distant

The family was not rich by any means, living off of the little money they gained from running their cattle farm, the surplus of what they grew and hunting.

Winnie, the middle brother, was born just two years after Colt. The boys' relationship was often volatile, yet close, and they were often seen wandering, loitering and causing trouble together. Partners in crime, so to speak.

Their mother ended up leaving fully when Colt was only twelve years old, after a harsh argument between her and her husband. Colt hasn't had any contact with her since, and doesn't know if she's even alive.

With their mothers absence, the farm began to deteriorate. Their father seemed more preoccupied with the bottle, leaving Colt and Winnie to pick up the slack where they could. Colt picked up temporary jobs, teaching Winnie how to hunt to keep them fed.

Some time when Colt was seventeen, their father remarried, bringing home a new woman called Francince, who was barely older than Colt himself, Soon enough, their youngest half brother was born. Francine died soon after child-birth from an untreated infection.

The youngest seemed to take more easily to Colt, rather than being a natural sceptic like Winnie, and often followed both of his older siblings around. While the death of their mother hit the family hard, it seemed to bring the boys closer together. They were often seen around Scottsboro and the neighbouring area, where they gained quite a bit of notoriety.

Winnie eventually told the family he planned on signing up for their army. Their father was furious, chasing Winnie out of the house. Colt barely had any contact with his younger brother since then.

For the most part after that, it was just Colt, his father and the youngest. There were a few brief stints with women, even a short-lived marriage that lasted a couple of years, something which Colt rarely talks about.

Colt's most recent workplace was a slaughterhouse.

The last thing he remembers before he woke up on the ship was a barfight, in which he beat up the owner at the bar who knew of his reputation and ordered him to leave.

Headcanons:

The closest Colt ever came to leaving their homestead was a temporary job he took as a druck triver.

Colt has several scars, most notably a dent in his shoulder from a shotgun blast, a long line on his left side from a knife, and a round burn on his right thigh from a cattle iron. There are various smaller scars of healed injuries littering his body.

He also has a rather high pain tolerance.

Colt also has several tattoos, some bigger some smaller, which can be found here.

Colt struggles with reading. He spent the least amount of time in school, so though he is able too, it's difficult. It's also not something he talks about.

okay so contrary to what many fans feel like (even me for the longest time), i'm actually starting to feel quite okay with the door thing being dragged out. solely bc we are watching teenagers in real time. It was anaïs' first ever crime and she was stuck between two of the people she loves most. i wouldn't have known what to do either at that age. I honestly feel like it's really realistic that she walked around with it for that long. okay granted, im still pissed at some of the writing choices, bc they made Bobbie loose all of her well roundedness as a character and im still pissed af they added that SA storyline. and the fact that it's again the black girl that has to take everyone into consideration. like pls how much shit did they throw on her this season? (maybe bv we called ada's season a snoozefest?? idk?) but i'm really feeling okay with everyting. between a&b too. They've reconciled and honestly there's still a lot they have to figure out, but i'm fine with that being something we'll see snippets of in the next season. i'm trying to channel my inner 16 yo. If i would have gone through the same shit they've encountered i wouldn't be where they are. they are actually willing to listen and grow!! we've seen this in bobbie and their friends! i'm actually so done with the narrative that everyone is shitty to anaïs. they're only just starting to navigate their way into adulthood. they've been noticing shit! shit man i was a depressed fuck going out with fake ID's and at one point i fell in love with a girl while still dating another. but still hella insecure and i was pretty bad at making friends irl so i spent most of my time on here. my life was freaking messy too. as a viewer it's easy to want shit resolved or see progression sooner bc it's more entertaining to watch. but i feel like they've done a great job taking in consideration we are watching them in real time. (if we forget how shitty the wtfock team is with their social media, i'm begging again, hire one of us pls). idk i'm just really happy to see this kind of representation in an original season. let's not forget we all loved sobbe, zoenne and like in other countries the other remakes bc it was tried and tested!! Imo wtfock had really redeemed itself after ada's season and they've taken notes from druck and skam france. good notes. end of rant.

That's actually a very interesting take, I haven't thought about it this way tbh. I think my biggest problem was that they added dramatic plots and dragged them out, just to resolve them in 1 minute clips, like why was there so much build up just for it not to matter in the end? And with the door plot, my biggest issue was that we saw the same conversation over and over again, but tbf, like you said, it kind of makes sense for Anais to act this way, i just wish theyd put more emphasis on her dilemma, if that makes sense, and if we had more social media, maybe I would've felt differently Also I felt like they put too much importance on Hanne and Bobbie instead of Anais, the actual main, because we had lots of plot lunes for her established in the first season, just to abandon in the 2nd half, and quickly resolve them last minute, and let's not even talk about the sa plot, that was so unnecessary

Tbh, I also think Anais season is way better than Adas, especially the first half of the season, it was more entertaining to watch, and the plotlines were all connected with eachother

Probably enemies to lovers, since I really dislike the idea of it in real life. But I can't get enough of enemies to lovers fics. My WIP even dabbles into it a little bit and I never expected to write something like that.

Yes! I never really know how to explain why I love a fic and tend to comment generic things like 'love this' or 'cute' which I do feel bad about but I always try to comment. And I do my best to mention something specific, since I always love it when people do that but so many times it's just the whole vibe I love, you know?

Yes, absolutely!! Writing is a big part of my life and that all started with fanfiction years and years ago. It's so inspiring what kind of things people write while having whole life's beside it and I really love the whole equality feeling of fanfic culture. It makes me feel like I belong and my writing could be just as cool as my own favorite fics. Which, it isn't, I have a long way to go. But it's all about the idea!!

When did you post your first ever fanfic?

Thank you for tagging me @fallingforfandoms. I love doing questions like these.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

I've got 68 works 😳

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

My word count is 229,462

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I write for Tatort Dresden and Tatort Saarbrücken. Sometimes other Tatort teams or Radio Tatort are included as well. I've also written for Lost in Fuseta, Druck, Ragnarok, Blutige Anfänger and Babylon Berlin. Everything except Druck and Ragnarok were crossovers with Tatort because I like combining the stuff I like.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Tatort Pride Month Drabbles: my very first drabble collection that I wrote. The one that started this all. The one that makes me unable to stop writing more drabble connections. The one that no other drabble collection I'll ever write will reach.

Italian Summer (lol ur not harry styles): a Druck fanfiction that I gifted my girlfriend for Christmas when she was still just a friend. Started writing it in summer, so it was summer themed, but only finished it in winter.

Don't be sad, Mr. Laurits: a Ragnarok fanfic written after the end of the second season, because I did not want Laurits to suffer all the time. He needs someone who supports him and he now does.

Es geht weiter (Drabble Collection): one of my many other drabble collections. This one is there, so I can post drabbles whenever I feel like it, when I'm not doing a monthly collection.

And the walls kept tumbling down: an unfinished Druck fanfiction in which I gave Leonie and David a shared past. I never finished writing it and the first chapter is all that exists of it.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try my best to respond to comments. Comments make me so happy. It's so nice to see that others appreciate my work. But I'm not as good at replying as I wish I was. At the moment I have quite a few comments that I have not answered to. I try to get to it from time to time, but the more there are, the harder it is sometimes.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The angstiest ending I ever wrote was for Zu spät. I want to make it an open ending, but I almost certainly ended up killing one of the characters. And then I did it again for Feed me Poison, fill me 'til I drown except that this time it actually was an open ending. Sorry, Leo.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

A baby being born on Christmas eve is the happiest ending you could ask for, right? Then Freudige Erwartungen – eine Weihnachtsgeschichte in 24 Drabbles is my story with the happiest ending. If a wedding is the happiest ending, then it's Tatort Pride Month Drabbles.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I got a negative comment once on Italian Summer where I was accused of transphobia. But like that's the only time I really got a negative comment and I'm not sure, if it qualifies as hate.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Uhm, yes. So much of it. I feel like lots of it is a little unhinged, if you can use that to describe which kind of smut I write. But I think I also write smut that is more ''normal''.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Yes, I do. I'm not sure, I'd call them crazy. I have written Tatort Dresden/Tatort Saarbrücken, Tatort Dresden/Babylon Berlin, Tatort Dresden/Lost in Fuseta and Tatort Dresden/Blutige Anfänger. I once started writing a Drei ???/Ragnarok crossover, but I never finished it and haven't posted anything of it. That was a crazy idea for sure.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Not sure, if it really counts, but I have two shared drabble collections with @disappointingsalad. We've both written our own drabbles independently from each other, so not much actually working together. She's also written a scene for Ein nicht so stilles Wasser and she's helped me ''translate'' for I don't want a lot for Christmas. Looking at all this, I want to thank you so much. You've done so much for me.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

I know, I should say Karin Gorniak/Leonie Winkler, but I also love Esther Baumann/Pia Heinrich so much.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I really want to finish my Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel Tatort AU, my Aaron Gorniak as a toddler AU and my Vampires in Saarbrücken case fic. I don't think that's actually happening in the near future. I also should be continuing my rainbow family Tatort Dresden Fanfic.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm honestly not sure. Maybe it's writing stuff that is a little unhinged.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Staying in character and actually finishing my work.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've written English fic in the past and sometimes I'm wondering how. Writing dialogue in German comes a lot easier to me.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Surprise, it was One Direction. I since orphaned the fics I had published, because I now believe that it is wrong to write fanfic about real people. But that's everyone's own decision. If you do write fanfic about real people, you do you, but I won't.

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

My favourite one is Durch den Sturm. It was my first big writing project and my first cross-over. It was also my first time writing smut. So a lot of firsts. It will always have a special place in my heart.
