Crochet Nor'easter Hat
Crochet Nor’easter Hat The Crochet Nor’easter Hat designed by the designers at Yarnspirations is one of my ultimate favourite hats for the winter. The yarn is thick and I am most compelled by the brim as it’s a slip stitch brim with lots of elasticity to it. The thickness of the brim makes for very cozy wear over the ears to keep the frost off. I adore the pom-pom to weigh down the hat. I’m a…

I've been feeling very uneasy having recently found out that Steve Purcell and Mike Stimmle have been interviewed for the Sam and Max 30th anniversary by Daniel Albu, a zionist who has previously worked for the Israeli Intelligence Force. (his twitter is @/danielalbu)
The video is still up on both the Sam and Max Funhouse facebook and Daniel Albu's twitter feed. I don't know if the interview was recorded before or after October 7 or if Steve or Mike knew about Daniel's views when agreeing to the interview... And I haven't found any statements from Steve Purcell or Mike Stemmle about Palestine or Israel yet so I don't know if either of them share or are tolerant of Daniel's views

Chapter 5 of everywhere, everything by @lynxindisguise is up, so you know what that means!!
Universe 560: Medieval Royalty songs under the cut
1. Lullay, lullow: I saw a sweete (14th century) by Purcell Consort of Voices
a little medieval love ballad for our medieval boys
2. Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) by Florence + The Machine
The looking glass, so shiny and new How quickly the glamour fades I start spinning, slipping out of time Was that the wrong pill to take? You made a deal, and now it seems you have to offer up But will it ever be enough? It's not enough [...] I look around, but I can't find you If only I could see your face Instead of rushing towards the skyline I wish that I could just be brave
3. Royal Pain by Eels
I got some sleep and I needed it Not a lot just a little bit Someone's always trying to keep me from it It's a crying shame It's a royal pain in the neck I'm just trying to get by With my pride a little bit intact Ask me any question and I'll level with you (I'm with you) I didn't ask for anything but being with you That's the only thing I was born to do
4. Tell Me A Tale Of Yourself, So I Might Know Thee by Daniel Hart
a song from The Green Knight soundtrack that felt right to the story
5. Master and Servant by Nouvelle Vague
Let's play "Master and Servant" Let's play "Master and Servant" It's a lot like life And that's what's appealing If you despise that throwaway feeling From disposable fun Then this is the one
6. Corner of Your Heart by Ingrid Michaelson
There's a corner of your heart for me There's a corner of your heart just for me I will pack my bags just to stay in the corner of your heart Just to stay in the corner of your heart [...] There's one minute of your day There's one minute of your day There's one minute of your day I will leave this man just to occupy one minute of your day Just to occupy one minute of your day

Nettles Casting Speculation
Since HBO won’t announce the casting for Nettles(understandably), and because we are all going mad due to a lack of official news for her, I thought I would compose a list of all the actresses who could potentially be her.
(Shout out to @nettlesdefensesquad cause she found a lot of these actresses).
Take this whole list with a massive grain of salt because my criteria for this was Black(ish) British/Black(ish) actresses in British productions between the ages of 26-33 (according to some guy on Reddit, Nettles actress is 32, so I thought I’d be lenient with the age) who’s side profile sorta matches this picture of Nettles presumed actress in costume:
Tumblr media
Keeping all that in mind, here’s our list:
1. Gabrielle Brooks
Tumblr media
While her side profile does not really match the woman in the blurry photo, Gabrielle just turned 33, I believe she’s following/being followed by some of the HOTD cast, and she doesn’t appear to be working on any projects at the moment so we can’t rule her out 🤷🏽‍♀️
2. Yohanna Ephrem
Tumblr media
Can’t find her exact age, but based on the side profiles it looks as if she could be a match and she appears not to be working on anything right now. She also doesn’t appear to have any social media so bonus points?
3. Marilyn Nnadebe
Tumblr media
Marilyn is 32 and it appears like she is not working on any projects right now.
4. Jordan Loughran
Tumblr media
People have been fan-casting her for years, but since she was used in a recent fancast, I decided to look her up, and lo and behold she’s 31! Jordan was already on a HBO show, Raised by Wolves, which also happens to be the same show Alyn’s actor(Abubakar Salim) was on so bonus points.
5. Lois Chimimba
Tumblr media
The side profile isn’t that great of a match, but she is 31, about to be 32, and she doesn’t appear to be working on anything at the moment.
6. Tamaira Hesson
Tumblr media
I can’t find a decent side profile pick and I can’t find Tamaira’s exact age, but under her playing age, it lists 20-30. She doesn’t appear to be working on any projects at the moment and besides LinkedIn, she doesn’t appear to have any social media.
7. Ronke Adekoluejo
Tumblr media
Ronke is 31 and her side profile is kinda a match.
8. Meesha Turner
Tumblr media
The side profiles aren’t that much of a match, but for the people who speculate that Nettles actress is tall, Meesha is 5’9.” She’s 32 and she’s not working on anything at the moment. (In fact back in October she left her role as Catherine Parr in the production Six the Musical).
9. Jasmine Rachelle
Tumblr media
Can’t find her exact age, but she’s I don’t think she’s older than 25/26. Jasmine is 5’9.”
10. Sherelle Johnson
Tumblr media
I can’t find her exact age(or a side profile pic), but her playing age range is between 18-28. I also don’t think she’s working on anything at the moment.
11. Crystal Clarke
Tumblr media
Crystal’s last show Sanditon just ended and for the time being it does not look as if she has any other projects in the works. She is around 30.
(I would literally jump for joy if she was playing Nettles).
12. Gleanne Purcell-Brown
Tumblr media
The profile isn’t dead on, but Glenne’s playing age is between 20-30. She doesn’t appear to be working on anything and she is 5’8.”
13. Lebogang Fisher
Tumblr media
Her playing age is between 18-28. She doesn’t appear to be working on any projects at the moment.
14. Casey Al-Shaqsy
Tumblr media
Casey’s playing age is between 19-25. She doesn’t appear to be working on any projects at the moment.
15. Lydia Fraser
Tumblr media
Not a side profile picture, but Lydia’s playing age is between 20-35. She is currently working on a stage play though.
16. Yazzmin Newell
Tumblr media
Her playing range is between 20-30. It doesn’t look as if she’s working on anything at the moment(her last series was canceled earlier this year). Steve Touissaint is also following her.
17. Madeleine Mantock
Tumblr media
She was gearing up for a play back in June, but she’s 33 and 5’9.”
18. Tia Bannon
Tumblr media
Not sure about her exact age, but she graduated with a BA back in 2015 so she fits the age range.
19. Danielle Vitalis
Tumblr media
Honestly, this is another case of the side profile not really matching, but she fits the age range(play range is 16-30) so I’m adding her just to cover all our bases🤷🏽‍♀️
20. Karla Simone-Spence
Tumblr media
Listen my behind knows she’s not going to play Nettles, but she follows Bethany on Instagram and she’s 27. Let me dream 😭
21. Natalie Simpson
Tumblr media
Her playing age is 23-33(I think she’s in her early 30s).
22. Leah Haile
Tumblr media
According to her Spotlight, she’s currently working on the Snow White movie that comes out next year, but I just thought I might include her. Her playing age is between 16-25.
23. Jessica Allain
Tumblr media
Do the side profiles match? Probably not, but she’s 26 and pretty tall so I’m including her.
24. Thalissa Teixeira
Tumblr media
Shes been fancasted as Nettles in the past and she’s in her early 30s and it doesn't look like she's really working on anything🤷🏽‍♀️
25. Shantol Jackson
Tumblr media
Are the side profiles matching? Nope, but she is 31.
26. Sophia Brown
Tumblr media
She's tall 5’ 8” and 31. I really couldn’t find a good side profile pic of Sophia, but I wouldn’t rule her out.
27. Zaraah Abrahams
Tumblr media
She’s 36 so she’s a little out of the age range, but she looks young, again, we are covering all of our bases.
28. Razan Nassar
Tumblr media
She’s on the young side(25), but she’s been in a show with Bethany Antonia(Get Even), hence the inclusion.
29. Simona Brown
Tumblr media
She’s 29 and she doesn’t appear to be working on anything.
There are some actresses who are a bit too young so I didn’t include them, but in case Reddit guy was all the way off, Corinna Brown(who follows Bethany) and Coco Rebecca Edogamhe are good contenders.
This list is not extensive, so anyone with any suggestions feel free to add them 😊(please add them because your girl is desperate 😭).

Release: August 13, 2021
Lyrics:
Out, out for the night
Why am I on my own on a Friday night?
My friends are on my phone, they keep blowin' up my line (hello)
Send me your location, the Uber's outside (yeah)
Runnin' out of time
If we're going out, out for the night
I'ma meet you down on the floor
Oh, tell me
So, tell me when you're out, out for the night
We can get it started, let's go, oh
Just watch me dance
Just watch me
Watch me, watch me, watch me
Why am I on my own on a Saturday night? (Why?)
Send me your location, the Uber's outside (where you at?)
Friends all in the bathroom, so I cut through the line
Runnin' out of time
If we're going out, out for the night
I'ma meet you down on the floor
Oh, tell me
So, tell me when you're out, out for the night
We can get it started, let's go, oh
Just watch me dance
Just watch me
Watch me, watch me, watch me
Ay, ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay
Ay, ay-ay, tonight we're goin' out, out
Ay, ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay
Ay, ay-ay, tonight we're goin' out, out
Run it back, I'm so saditty, super picky
Who gon' please this pretty kitty?
Got baddies with me, tanned and tipsy
Pass the concealer, gotta hide the hicky
Ooh, DJ, run it back (run it back)
Tryna go up, where balloon girl at? (Where she at?)
Double cup love, in the club, pitch black
Bubblegum butt, come and chew this ass
Ay, ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay
Ay, ay-ay, tonight we're goin' out, out
Ay, ay-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay
Ay, ay-ay, tonight we're goin' out, out
Just watch me
Hi, I'm Charli, baby (baby, baby)
Tonight, we're goin' out, out

since you enjoy reading books do you have Goodreads?
Also we need book recommendations, I just know you have an amazing literary taste :))
Ohhh I never imagined that someone would ask for my book recs!! Thank you, dear Anonie :3
I don’t have a Goodreads account though I use the site to check the ratings/ reviews before I read a book. Now onto my list~
✿ RECOMMENDATIONS ✿
♡ Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace
My childhood favorite!! It offers a charming glimpse into the author’s life from the early 1900s. I read the full series in order, and it was truly endearing to witness the protagonist’s growth from five-year-old to married woman.
♡ It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne + other works
My favorite book by this author!! She was my introduction to contemporary feminism and social issues. She has a very realistic grasp on her female protagonists and their stories. I also recommend her The Spinster Club trilogy and subsequent novels.
♡ Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
A must-read~ The Gothic horror, writing style, and literary themes are expertly combined to create an unforgettable reading experience. I also liked her other book My Cousin Rachel.
♡ Bone China by Laura Purcell + other works
Written by one of the best Gothic horror writers imo. This particular story drew me in with its fae folklore, porcelain aesthetic, and imperfect protagonist. My other favorites are The Silent Companions and The Whispering Muse.
♡ Heartless by Marissa Meyer
In addition to the whimsical writing style and imagery, you will never get bored of Meyer’s references to Alice in Wonderland/ Through the Looking Glass. The ending left me devastated.
♡ This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar + other works
The prose, the imagery, the love letters…..I want to absorb her writing style. Her short stories are also a delight to read.
♡ Revenge: Eleven Dark Tales by Yoko Ogawa + other works
The stories are already great on their own, and it gets more exciting when you realize that they are all interconnected!! The Diving Pool: Three Novellas is another excellent example of how Ogawa tackles womanhood and dark themes. I hope more of her work gets translated :’>
♡ Poetic fragments of Sappho
There is something so intimate and beautiful about her poetry. Intimacy, vivid imagery, Greek mythology……..I just really love her work and it’s a shame that most of it was lost to history ;-;
♡ Classic fairytales and myths
Y’all have seen their impact on my works. These stories are iconic, nostalgic, and rich with literary inspiration. Aside from the Western classics, do remember the myths and stories from your own culture!!
✿ HONARY MENTIONS ✿
♡ Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
♡ Circus of Wonders by Elizabeth Macneal
♡ Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
♡ Ghost Music and Braised Pork by An Yu
That’s all I can think of. Happy reading!! ( ´ ▽ ` )

Crochet Furrows in the Valley Hat
Crochet Furrows in the Valley Hat From the designers of Yarnspirations, Diva Dan is wearing the Crochet Furrows in the Valley Hat (blue version). Made with #5 Bulky Weight yarn with Bernat Softee Chunky Tweeds. It’s thick and warm. If you don’t know what a furrow is, you are not alone. When a farmer plows the field and there is raised soil in rows, that’s a furrow. This hat has the same raised…

Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn in Lust for Life (Vincente Minnelli, 1956) Cast: Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn, James Donald, Pamela Brown, Everett Sloane, Niall McGinnis, Noel Purcell, Henry Daniell, Madge Kennedy, Jill Bennett, Lionel Jeffries, Laurence Naismith, Jeanette Sterke. Screenplay: Norman Corwin, based on a novel by Irving Stone. Cinematography: Russell Harlan, Freddie Young. Art direction: E. Preston Ames, Cedric Gibbons, Hans Peters. Film editing: Adrienne Fazan. Music: Miklós Rózsa. After watching Julian Schnabel's take on Vincent Van Gogh in At Eternity's Gate (2018), I thought it made sense to go back and see Hollywood's portrait of the artist, Vincente Minnelli's Lust for Life. Schnabel is himself an artist, of course, so it's not surprising to find his film focused on the aesthetics of madness (along with propounding a theory that Van Gogh didn't commit suicide but was the victim of an accidental gunshot). Minnelli and screenwriter Norman Corwin are less successful in finding a coherent image of Van Gogh than Schnabel and his co-screenwriters Jean-Claude Carrière and Louise Kugelberg were, partly because the latter were working with one of the most insightful actors of our time, Willem Dafoe, while Minnelli's Van Gogh is played by Kirk Douglas, who brings to the role a physical resemblance to the artist but is never quite strong enough to craft an integrated characterization. Lust for Life seems to suggest that Van Gogh's problems stemmed from a lack of reciprocated love -- from his father, the church he tries to serve, the several women in his life, the art-buying public, the citizens of Arles, and his fellow artists -- most notably Paul Gauguin, played (perhaps overplayed) by Anthony Quinn in an Oscar-winning performance. The film is visually stunning, although the transformation of the landscapes that Van Gogh sees into what he painted is handled more subtly and intelligently in Schnabel's film. Minnelli seems content merely to juxtapose place with painting. The sensational events in Van Gogh's life, especially the amputation of an ear, are treated sensationally in Minnelli's film, which only suggests that Van Gogh did it out of frustration with Gauguin, as if pleading for that artist's attention. We also get a sentimental deathbed scene, a kind of reconciliation with Vincent's brother, Theo (James Donald). Lust for Life is a watchable but flawed and inconsistent film -- even the name of the artist gets a variety of pronunciations, from "Van Gokh" to "Van Gog" to "Van Goh."
